In many different traditions lighting a candle is a sacred action. It expresses more than words can express. It has to do with gratefulness. From time immemorial, people have lit candles in sacred places. You may want to begin or end your day by the sacred ritual of lighting a candle on this gratefulness. Or you may want to light a birthday candle for a friend. One single guideline is all you need: Slow down and do it with full attention.

Stacy Adams@Coventry Creations

July 12, 2021 – July 18, 2021

Once again, the second full week of July is fantastic at the start of the week, but this weekend, batten down the hatches as the Sun opposes Pluto.

Monday brings us Mercury trine Jupiter. Mercury trine Jupiter is excellent for business negotiations,  strategy sessions, and inspiring conversations. If you need to sign contracts or secure a big deal, you should do it while this aspect is active. Mercury trine Jupiter dovetails into Venus conjunct Mars in Leo.  Although love is in the air this week, when combined with Mercury-Jupiter, expect great conversations and discussions about the future. It’s a great week to plan a wedding.

On Thursday, the Sun makes a lovely trine to Neptune in Pisces. Spiritual matters and connecting with your inner self highlight the middle of the week. You will also find that you are more empathic and sensitive to the needs of others.

This weekend will bring out the nasties in full force as the Sun opposes Pluto. Expect intense encounters with others. Avoid trying to control situations that go awry; it will only make matters worse.

Recommended Candles: Road Opener, Forever Mine, Clarity (Chakra Magic), Fiery Wall of Protection

Here’s what you missed on CoventryCreations.com this Week…

Transformation Through Your Havoc

Last month, Saturn formed a square (90-degree angle) to Uranus for the second time. Saturn and Uranus move slowly, they remain in technical orb for long periods and trigger easily by faster moving planets. This month the agitators will be Mars and Venus.

Llewellyn’s Spell A Day
Maiden to Mother to Crone
JULY 06, 2021 BY EMYME

I was well through and done with the maiden life phase and into the mother phase before I discovered Wicca. Now, as a grandmother, I am experiencing the transition from mother to crone. In reality, these roles may not be as simple as the triad implies. At ninety-plus years old, my own mother is the genuine crone of our family. My daughter is no longer a maiden, but a young mother. My granddaughter is not yet a maiden.

Pause and reflect today on the particular phase of life you inhabit. Are you transitioning? If so, where would you place yourself on the path? Research those goddesses who are traditionally associated with maiden/ mother/crone. Perhaps you will discover some new or obscure deity with which to align your stage in life. Call to Demeter:

Demeter, symbol of steadfast and
patient motherhood, be by our side
through all the phases of our lives,
a reminder that maternal love is
everlasting and encompasses all.

The Calm After the Storm
JULY 05, 2021 BY DEBORAH BLAKE

In the United States, the Fourth of July is a holiday celebrated with parties and loud fireworks. For many, the fifth of July comes as something of a relief after all that noise and commotion. For most of us, holidays are fun, but it is in the silence after the upheaval that we find our footing again. Life is all about that balance— the ups and downs, the celebrations and the daily rituals that sustain us. Like the darkness and the light, it is the contrast that makes us appreciate what we have.

Take a moment today, and on any other days during the year that follow a holiday or commotion, and be grateful for the quiet times that fall in between and help us keep our balance. Light a black candle and a white candle on a firesafe surface and say:

Joyous noise,
Peaceful silence.
Life is all about the balance.
May I find my own balance
through them both.

Snuff out the candles when you’re done.

Mid-Week Balance
JULY 07, 2021 BY BLAKE OCTAVIAN BLAIR

Wednesday might seem so far from the weekend, but it’s actually the midpoint of the week. While we often work big acts of balance-related magic on the equinoxes, we need not miss the weekly opportunity that Wednesday presents us for balance magic! Today, let’s use Wednesday’s energies to create a bit of balance for ourselves.

The tarot card associated with Wednesday is the Magician. Put the Magician card from your favorite tarot deck on your altar. This card actually is a wonderful image of power and balance. The Magician has all the elements at his disposal to handle situations in a balanced manner. Meditate on what it means to act with power but in balance. Use the strength gained from this knowledge to propel you through your tasks for the rest of the week.

A Charm to Inspire Summer Projects
JULY 08, 2021 BY THORN MOONEY

For many of us, summer is a joyful period of increased freedom. Many schools are on break, more people go on vacation, and even work atmospheres may feel more relaxed. Now is the perfect time to go on an adventure, find new romance, take up a new hobby, or otherwise spice up your life with the creative, fresh energy of the season.

To ensure that a new summer project is successful or to draw inspiration and adventure into your life, take a square of yellow fabric and place in the center a sprig of peppermint, some basil leaves, three shiny pennies, and a piece of citrine or clear quartz. Place your hands over the mixture and imagine yourself happy and optimistic. When you’re ready, bring the ends of the fabric to the center and tie them with a piece of green string. Carry the charm in a pocket or in your purse.

Renewal Spell
JULY 09, 2021 BY EMBER GRANT

Try to get outside tonight if you can. If not, simply close your eyes and imagine you’re gazing up at the dark sky. The new moon is a perfect time for starting projects or simply renewing any part of your life that needs a boost—maybe you’d like to restart an exercise program or look for a new job. This spell can be used anytime you need to refresh or prepare for a new adventure.

As you gaze up at the sky, consider how the moon moves through its phases. You’re “new” right now as well—a tiny seed germinating in darkness. Chant these words:

The moon is new and so am I,
A sliver in the darkened sky.
All the cycles wax and wane,
For the balance they maintain.
Like the moon I’m starting slight,
But soon will grow both
strong and bright.

A July Abundance Ritual
JULY 10, 2021 BY JAMES KAMBOS

Now we’re past the solstice. The hours of daylight dwindle, but it’s still summer. The sun and earth provide us with food and plenty. This ritual helps us give thanks at this bountiful time of year.

Begin this ritual at sunset. Drape your altar with green or purple fabric. Place two purple candles on the altar, one for the sun and one for the earth. Place one glass of sweet red wine or grape juice on the altar as well. Safely light each candle, then say:

The Sun’s rays begin to dim,
But still we honor him.
The Goddess blesses us with her yield.
Now we honor the bounty of the field.

Take one sip of wine or juice. Pour the remaining wine on the ground outside. Snuff out each candle one at a time. You may use the candles for other rituals. Think of this ritual as you shop for groceries.

Wrist Bath to Prevent Swooning
JULY 11, 2021 BY ESTHA MCNEVIN

Many recipes designed to treat the hands and wrists for hot flashes have survived, from Mrs. Beeton’s to Taoist medical teas. This particular one is a personal favorite. It works within fifteen to thirty seconds on most folks and will prevent heat stroke. Although soaking your hands a few times a day in ice cubes can be tedious, it is better than being drenched in sweat or dehydrated all day on account of nature and her wonderful little hormonal and weather- driven nuances. This recipe is most effective in hot climates and humid conditions and is also a great addition to lemonade and limeade. Enjoy!

Mix the following and freeze it into two ice cube trays for best effects. Enchant the mixture with any spoken spell as you see fit.

* 1 bunch fresh cilantro, minced
* 3 tablespoons honey
* 3 tablespoons grapefruit zest
* 1/2 cup lemon juice
* 1 cup water
* 12 crushed cardamom pods
* 6 drops tulsi (holy basil) essential oil

World Peace Card Meditations

Wednesday, July 14, 2021 – 7:30pm

(based on local time in your time zone)

Future Dates

August 18, September 15, October 13,

November 17, December 15 – at 7:30pm

You are invited to take part in the next World Peace Card Meditation. Please mark your calendar and forward this email to all your friends.

Thanks for Your Help!

Because so many of you forwarded this email to your friends, there have been more than 409,455 downloads of the World Peace Cards. This is a tremendous increase in the number of people using the cards. So far the total number of World Peace Card sets downloaded, received from our free offer and from our magazine has been over 452,755! I hope you have been using your peace cards as their use brings blessings to the world as well as to you.

The next World Peace Card group meditation have been scheduled for Wednesday, July 14 at 7:30pm. This is local time in your time zone. This method has been chosen because of the special effect it produces. As people meditate in each successive time zone the energy builds like a wave which gets stronger and stronger as it circles the planet. Because of the higher dimensional nature of consciousness, the energy of peace will be transmitted for a full 24 hours and continue long after this.

Reports from those who took part in the previous meditations indicate many had powerful spiritual experiences. As they united with those taking part in the meditation a feeling of peace developed within that stayed with each for a long time. Some saw beautiful golden light surrounding the planet and others felt that a web of fear was dissipating and being replaced with trust in others and for our future. All those who have received the cards are being asked to meditate on world peace at this time. By taking part in this group meditation, you’ll be joining thousands of people who will be using the cards to bring peace to the world. By joining together, the affect we have will be greatly multiplied. This powerful experience and will help shift the vibration of our wonderful planet into a higher state of consciousness. As you use the cards to meditate on world peace, you will be a beacon through which peace will spread around the planet which will have a positive uplifting effect on all people. Please set aside this time to meditate with the cards. The suggested meditation period is 15 minutes, but of course you can meditate longer if you’d like to. The technique I’d like you to use is based on allowing yourself to be a beacon of peace. The World Peace Cards hold the vibration of the World Peace Grids which have been placed at spiritually significant locations and are relay stations for higher consciousness. By simply opening to their energy, you’ll become a channel for their love and peace which will flow through you to all the people on Earth. To do this, hold the cards in your hands or place them in front of you. Then simply meditate on peace. We are entering a new era. Our entire planet including all the people and living things are moving into a place where it will be much easier to solve our problems and to create peace, prosperity and happiness for everyone. The World Peace Card meditation will quicken this process, making it easier for people to experience this new quality of higher consciousness and will provide great benefit for all people. Since this benefit will be flowing through you out to everyone on the planet, you’ll be blessed by this experience as well. Many have received the cards in the mail or in the Reiki News Magazine while others have downloaded them from our web site. If you would like additional copies of the cards, please download them using this link and print as many copies as you can use. Please feel free to give them to your friends. Also, forward this email to anyone you feel would like to take part in the meditation.

World Peace Card Download

Additional World Peace Cards

Note: This is a larger file and it may take several minutes for it to open, so please be patient.

When printing the cards from this file, print page 2 first, then place this page in your printer and print the image of the peace grids on the back.

New Reiki Grid – Send Reiki to Others

We also have a new image of the World Peace Crystal Grid that can be used for a Reiki Grid. By using it for your Reiki Grid you’ll be tapping into the energy of all the peace grids and this will add to the energy that is sent to all those whose names or photos you place in the grid making the Reiki more effective and adding wonderful feelings of peace and harmony. And each time you charge your grid, you’ll be charging the peace grids for world peace! With this system you’ll use 12 crystals around the outside – placing 1 crystal over each of the crystals in the photo plus 1 crystal in the center and 1 as your master crystal for a total of 14 crystals. The additional crystals will also hold and transmit more energy. Also, remember you can place your goals into the grid as well. I suggest printing it on glossy photo paper if you have it or you could get some at your office supply store. You’ll need to trim the one side of the grid after it’s printed.

Heartwings Love Notes 990 The Squeak in the Hall

Heartwings says, “Beware of assumptions, they can mislead you.”

We walked in from our errands and started up the stairs to our apartment. “Squeak.” I looked at Stephen. “Think we have a cricket? He shrugged. “Could that maybe be a bird?” We looked at each other and shook our heads. “These bundles are heavy,” Stephen said, “let’s get on upstairs.” We did and didn’t think much more about it. Several days went by, and the squeaks or chirps, depending on how you interpreted the sound, continued.

We were busy with holiday and birthday celebrations. The squeaks continued. We ignored them. There was too much else going on. If it were a cricket, it would probably hop out or perish, I thought, and it couldn’t have been a bird because we would have discovered it by now and let it out. Several more days passed. The sounds became more frequent. I didn’t want to bother the landlord over the holiday, nor did I want to have poison sprayed onto the stairs if he suspected an infestation.

Midweek after the fourth, Beth, a dear friend from Virginia came over to take us out for a birthday lunch as a gift for Stephen. As we started out the apartment door the squeaky chirp sounded. I laughed and said “That’s been going on for a while now. We don’t know what it is; we think it might be a cricket.” Beth pointed at the ceiling and the smoke alarm that was placed there. She laughed and said, “The battery is telling you it needs to be replaced.” “Oh, my goodness,” I said. How silly of us not to figure that out.

As I thought about it, I realized that our assumptions concerning the noise had kept us from finding out what was really happening. That’s the difficulty with assumptions:  once you think you know something you don’t look further. Why bother? Problem solved, right? No, not solved, merely put on pause until the actual solution emerges, if indeed it can get past the assumptive attitude. As long as you believe you don’t need to look, you won’t unless of course something changes. In our case the squeaking was becoming more frequent and might eventually have prompted further investigation.

There is an interesting and useful concept in Buddhism called Beginner’s Mind. What this means is that rather than make any assumptions or thinking that you know something about anything, you pretend to know nothing and begin your investigation from there. This is similar to something I learned in a yoga class many years ago from a special guest instructor. He told us, “Make this your mantra (instructional saying). I know nothing, I want to learn.”   At first, I bristled at the thought that I knew nothing, then I realized what he meant: not that I actually knew nothing but that I could learn more. Once we told our kind landlord about the battery, he replaced it right away. We don’t miss the squeaks.

May you see the truth free of assumptions.

Blessings and Best Regards,

Tasha Halpert

PS Have you misled yourself with assumptions? Do write and share. I love it when readers respond with their comments. Write to me at and for more Love Notes, please visit. Hope to see you there.

Getting Started with Candle Magic

JULY 26, 2021 BY JOSEPHINE WINTER

Candles for Magic

Candle magic is an accessible form of magic to learn, as it can be learned relatively easily and doesn’t require loads of expensive or rare tools or components to do. It’s also pretty effective, once you know what you’re doing.

Generally, this involves picking a candle or candles of the appropriate colour; charging, dressing, or anointing them with oil; and sometimes carving them with certain symbols, names, or sigils. You can buy oils for different purposes, or have a go at making your own by steeping the relevant herbs in a carrier such as olive oil.

Shorter, thicker candles are better than skinny tapers for candle magic, but use what you have on hand before going out and buying something fancy.

Method

There are loads of different ways to perform candle magic. The one I am including here is no more or less valid. Read up on some alternatives, experiment, and use what works for you.

Set your intention. Think carefully about who this magic is for, who it will affect, what the ideal outcome will look like. Always get someone’s consent before performing magic for them.

Gather the components for your working. Different coloured candles have different correspondences, or go for plain black or white if colours aren’t available. Gather anything else you will need for the ritual or setting up sacred space.

Set the scene. If you’re working indoors, tidy up. Make sure the space is quiet, and electronic devices that might distract you are off. Ensure you have a space to work: an altar is ideal, or just a clear surface like a coffee table that you’re okay with perhaps dribbling wax on if accidents happen. Put down a non-treasured cloth etc if you’re really worried.

Prepare yourself. Different traditions give different instructions for readying oneself for ritual. One simple method is just to make sure you are rested, clean, and fed: bathe or take a shower. Put on clean clothes or ritual garb (or go skyclad if you like). Make sure you are fed and comfortable. You will concentrate much better if your basic needs are met.

Begin. If you’re so inclined, set up sacred space in the way that works for you. Centre yourself with a few deep breaths while you remember the actions and intentions you thought about and visualised in step one, then say them. Speaking words out loud gives them power.

Dress your candle. This involves anointing it in oil, rubbing it in from the centre to the ends. Oil, obviously, is flammable: don’t use too much. Concentrate hard on the issue or intention of this working as you do so.

Inscribe your candle. This could involve carving a certain sigil, rune, or even your subject’s name onto the candle. In doing this, you are charging the candle with your intention.

Light the candle. Omit this step if you are preparing the candle to give to somebody else. If you plan to burn the candle yourself, place it in a fire-safe container and light it. Many workings will require you to leave the lit candle burning until there is nothing left. Only do this if it’s safe.

Finish. Thank and make offerings to any deities or spirits you need to. Close down your sacred space and ground yourself. Leave the candle burning if it is safe to do so.

Raise Your Vibration

There are many ways to raise your vibration, including thinking positive and uplifting thoughts.

Everything in the universe is made of energy. What differentiates one form of energy from another is the speed at which it vibrates. For example, light vibrates at a very high frequency, and something like a rock vibrates at a lower frequency but a frequency nonetheless. Human beings also vibrate at different frequencies. Our thoughts and feelings can determine the frequency at which we vibrate, and our vibration goes out into the world and attracts to us energy moving at a similar frequency. This is one of the ways that we create our own reality, which is why we can cause a positive shift in our lives by raising our vibration.

We all know someone we think of as vibrant. Vibrant literally means “vibrating very rapidly.” The people who strike us as vibrant are vibrating at a high frequency, and they can inspire us as we work to raise our vibration. On the other hand, we all know people that are very negative or cynical. These people are vibrating at a lower frequency. They can also be an inspiration because they can show us where we don’t want to be vibrating and why. To discover where you are in terms of vibrancy, consider where you fall on a scale between the most pessimistic person you know and the most vibrant. This is not in order to pass judgment, but rather it is important to know where you are as you begin working to raise your frequency so that you can notice and appreciate your progress.

There are many ways to raise your vibration, from working with affirmations to visualizing enlightened entities during meditation. One of the most practical ways to raise your vibration is to consciously choose where you focus your attention. To understand how powerful this is, take five minutes to describe something you love unreservedly — a person, a movie, an experience. When your five minutes are up, you will noticeably feel more positive and even lighter. If you want to keep raising your vibration, you might want to commit to spending five minutes every day focusing on the good in your life. As you do this, you will train yourself to be more awake and alive. Over time, you will experience a permanent shift in your vibrancy.

Our Insecurities

We all have glorious imperfections making us utterly human.

At some point in our life there may come a time when we feel insecure about ourselves. We might judge our ability to do something or feel self-conscious about the way we look. It does not matter how this feeling manifests in our life, but it is important to be aware of our thoughts and how they impact our view of ourselves. Once we remember that insecurities are a normal part of life for everyone — even those who appear to be extremely self-assured — we may find it easier to step back from the uncertainty that lies within and take a more realistic look at ourselves.

The desire to improve or better ourselves is a natural response that arises when we begin to compare our lives to those of other people. It might seem, for example, that we do not have nearly as much going for us as our neighbor, best friend, or coworker. In truth, what we think we see about another person is usually what they want us to notice. They may be putting on a mask, trying to make things in their lives seem better than they are. If we were to look at their lives a little more closely, we would also realize that they are human, full of glorious imperfections that make them who they are. Recognizing this may take some time at first. Should we, however, feel our uncertainties begin to surface, taking deep breaths while at the same time acknowledging each one of our gifts will help us become more centered. Doing this allows us to see the wonders that lie within and lets our inner beauty shine forth into the world all the more brightly.

When we hold up such a detailed mirror to our lives and weigh ourselves against others, we are not able to see the things that make us truly unique. Giving ourselves permission to appreciate all the universe has given us, however, will make us feel more secure about ourselves and more able to use our gifts to their fullest.

Thinking About – #DefendOccultBooks

by Damh the Barb

Published on July 9, 2021

A couple of days ago I read this article on Jason Mankey’s blog about #DefendOccultBooks written by Georgina Rose. As a Generation X Pagan, I was surprised that this was even a thing. I mean, books, knowledge, wisdom, going deep into myth and magic, that was and still is my passion when it comes to my Path. I know so many Pagans whose bookshelves creak under the strain of all of their wonderful (and sometimes, let’s face it, not so wonderful) books. To read that there are Pagans out there who are purposefully avoiding books based on a ‘what you shouldn’t read’ list astounded me. I mean, when did Pagans ever do as they were told when it came to seeking knowledge and wisdom? Advice is good, but blacklisting authors and topics? That feels a little, well, controlling, to say the least.

It doesn’t surprise me that this cultural directing stems from social media. As I consider the contrasting ways Pagans currently have when seeking their Path I find it odd to think that it might have been actually easier back in the days before the internet to make connections. It certainly didn’t feel that way. Just a couple of magazines on the shelves of WH Smiths might lead you to find more underground groups and journals, then to a local moot and then maybe to a local magical group. It was frustrating, there was an incredible amount of gatekeeping, but man it was also exciting – the hunt was a big part of the Journey. I actually miss those stapled and photocopied journals arriving every quarter – like The Cauldron – and they often held the best information and articles too. But social media is so loud, fast, and reactionary. Just as the people who invented the car couldn’t have predicted road rage, so the creators of social media might not have seen flame wars and cultural division in its future. However, I think we were given good clues with our experiences of the smaller Newsgroups, email lists and message boards that preceded social media. Now we have Facebook, a worldwide message board, with worldwide flame wars and cultural division. I think there was a good reason I was told years ago not to discuss my politics or religion – I simply don’t need to know every single thought my friends have about everything.

But I digress…

There were people back then who said “you can’t learn magic from a book”, but a good combination of personal teaching, experience and guidance, with the extra-curricular activities of book-reading, completed the circle. There was also advice on the best books to read, but when I was told not to read a certain book, it was like a red flag to a bull. I remember the uproar about 21 Lessons of Merlin. Did I ignore everyone and read it anyway? Of course I did. I’ve never let critics make my decisions for me, and I would advise any new, or even seasoned Pagan to also ignore any “Books you shouldn’t read” list and make up your own mind too. By the way, with that book people were right, but I’m still glad I read it to be sure.

I will freely admit, there are problems with some books that were written ‘back in the day’. Some of the language in the books by Dion Fortune is blatantly racist. Am I condoning it? Of course not. The same could be said for Aleister Crowley. The man was… problematic. If those same books were being written now, well, they would be edited and censored. If Crowley was around now getting up to those things I’m not sure it would go down well with today’s magical community. But like it or not these are some of the most influential roots of western magic, and there is both wisdom and challenges held within those pages. If someone is serious about their magic I would still recommend the novels of Dion Fortune, with the caveat that some of the language will be challenging.

I think this ‘book blacklist’ will be just another online trend that will exist, create a lot of noise on social media, then will blow over in due time. My gut tells me that if someone is passionate about their path they may well get to a point on their spiritual journey when intuition alone might not cut it anymore, and they may well feel the pull to explore deeper some of the older books and Grimoires. The balance of the Alchemical Elements includes the intellect of Air, along with the emotion of Water, the passion of Fire, the groundedness of Earth, and in that balance great magic is waiting.

How to Receive Psychic Messages in your Dreams

by Tanaaz

If you are looking to expand your psychic abilities, tap into your intuition or are just looking for guidance on a particular topic, your dreams can be an excellent way to receive advice, insights or messages.

Our dreams reveal the inner world of our subconscious mind and can often hold clues or even prophecies that can influence our lives or day to day.

Through dreams, our intuition and spirit guides are more likely to speak to us because our ego or rational mind is often switched off and unable to affect the transmission of the message.

If you want to learn how to receive messages or psychic guidance in your dreams here is what you need to know.

1. Keep a Dream Journal

Keeping a dream journal is paramount when it comes to understanding and receiving the psychic messages in your dreams. If you really want to start enhancing your dreams and your intuition, then you should start keeping a dream journal.

Keep it by your bedside and write down your dreams first thing in the morning to avoid forgetting them. Add any extra details that come back to you during the day as well.

Your dream journal should not just be a recount of the events that happened but should also explain how the events made you feel. Remember, dreams are symbolic so the feelings and intuition behind them is also just as important as the events themselves.

Not a fan of writing? Use a voice recorder or even type the dream out on your phone. Do whatever it takes to get the dream out so you can refer back to it.

2. Set Your Intention

If you want to receive a message through your dreams the best way to go about it is to ask or set your intention before you sleep.

While this may not work every time or right away, the more you practice the more you will open yourself to receiving Divine guidance.

Remember, you dream every night so even if you don’t remember any, be open to the fact that you may have received some wisdom or peace during your sleep. Judge this based on the feeling you get when you first awaken.

To set your intention start by reciting a short mantra before bed that goes something like- ” I am open and willing to receive Divine guidance through my dreams that serves my highest purpose and brings me clarity and understanding.”

You can also set an intention to receive more specific advice about a particular situation or event or you can also just ask for a pleasant night’s sleep, especially if you have been suffering from nightmares or insomnia.

3. Symbols and Meanings

There are many dream dictionaries out there with definitions of what each symbol, animal or object may mean, however often symbols are unique to the individual. If butterflies have always reminded you of your grandma, then perhaps seeing a butterfly in your dreams is a message from her.

To unlock your dreams you really need to pay attention to any symbols or metaphors that come up and try to relate them to your day-to-day or past experiences.

If the meaning behind the symbol doesn’t come straight away, don’t worry. The more you stay open and aware of the symbols the more they will start to make sense to you. Writing them down will also help you bring more clarity to what they may mean.

Opening up to this newfound awareness, especially when it comes to your dreams can also help you strengthen your gifts of clairvoyance.

4. Herbal Dream Tea

There are many herbs out there that can help facilitate vivid and prophetic dreams. The most popular known herbs for dreaming include Calea Zachatechhi and Mugwort.

Calea Zachatechhi is great for intensifying your dreams, dream recall, and lucid dreaming. It is best had as a tea alone or mixed with other soothing herbs like peppermint and passionflower.

Mugwort helps to enhance lucid dreaming and astral travel. To boost Mugwort’s effectiveness, you also may want to add some other herbs to help release any anxiety and to calm your mind. These include chamomile, lavender, passionflower, or peppermint.

It is not recommended to blend both Mugwort and Calea Zachatechhi while there are no known adverse reactions, it is better to test the herbs out independently to see which one works the best for you.

The best way to drink your tea would be just before bed and while setting your intention. Perhaps you can even create a ritual where you take each sip as you cement and recite your intention for the night ahead.

5. Dreamtime Pillow

Dreamtime pillows have been used for centuries to help ward off negative energies, bad dreams and to evoke a peaceful sleep.

With the right combination of herbs, dreamtime pillows can be a fantastic way to have vivid dreams and receive psychic messages.

Some of the best herbs for dreaming include:

Datura: helps to evoke lucid and vivid dreams

Mugwort: helps to enhance prophetic dreams

Anise: believed to keep nightmares away

Sage: brings healing and peace to your dreams

Burdock: believed to keep negativity away from you while you dream

Jasmine: helps to enhance dreams about love and relationships

Lemongrass: helps to boost the colors in your dreams

Rose Petals: promotes relaxation and helps open your heart chakra to receiving guidance

Clary Sage: believed to support astral travel in dreams

Lavender: helps to calm, soothe anxiety and release tension when entering the dream state, making you more susceptible to psychic guidance

Mullein: helps protect against nightmares and negative energies while you sleep

Choose whichever combination of herbs feels right to you and place them in a soft cloth, organza, or muslin bag and place it under your pillow or in your pillowcase.

The dreamtime pillows work best when used in conjunction with the tea.

6. Crystals

Crystals are a great way to help enhance spirit communication, psychic energy, and intuition.

When placed under your pillow, certain crystals can help you recall your dreams better, have more vivid dreams, and help you to receive insightful messages and healing.

These crystals include:

Danburite: Due to its high energetic vibration, danburite can help activate higher dimensions in the spirit world and can allow you to better comprehend and understand your dreams. It can also help you to receive intuitive messages and connect with your Spirit guides and angels. This is a very soothing and comforting crystal which is also great for people who suffer from sleep paralysis and nightmares.

Herkimer Diamonds: Are fantastic for helping to release psychic or intuitive blocks and to enhance clarity. They are great for dream recall and helping to understand your dreams. They also help stimulate vivid dreams and astral travel. Have a loved one who is far away? Placing a Herkimer Diamond under each of your pillows at night is also supposed to help facilitate meeting in the dream state.

Blue Kyanite: helps you to instantly tap into your inner truth and highest voice. It opens you up to receiving Divine communication and better recalling your dreams. It also helps you to receive psychic and intuitive messages and reveals the truth surrounding your situation.

Azurite: helps you to open up to the meaning behind your dreams and activates the third eye chakra. Excellent for enhancing intuition and contacting spirits or angels from the other side. Also helps you open up to your own innate wisdom and higher self.

Dreams are a great way to start receiving psychic messages as your mind is already in a very relaxed and open state. Just set your intention and stay open to the messages as they unfold.

More Kindness Always

Being fully present in each moment of your life facilitates kindness, as it increases your awareness of the people around you.

In the quest to create a gentler, more loving world, kindness is the easiest tool we can use. Though it is easy to overlook opportunities to be kind, our lives are replete with situations in which we can be helpful, considerate, thoughtful, and friendly to loved ones and associates, as well as strangers. The touching, selfless acts of kindness that have the most profoundly uplifting effects are often the simplest: a word of praise, a gentle touch, a helping hand, a gesture of courtesy, or a smile. Such small kindnesses represent an unconditional, unrestricted form of love that we are free to give or withhold at will. When you give the gift of kindness, whether in the form of assistance, concern, or friendliness, your actions create a beacon of happiness and hope that warms people’s hearts.

The components of kindness are compassion, respect, and generosity. Put simply, kindness is the conscious act of engaging others in a positive way without asking whether those individuals deserve to be treated kindly. All living beings thrive on kindness. A single, sincere compliment can turn a person’s entire world around. Holding a door or thanking someone who has held a door for you can inspire others to practice politeness and make already kind individuals feel good about their efforts. Smiling at people you meet — even those who make you feel like frowning — can turn a dreary encounter into a delightful one, for both of you. Every kind act has a positive influence on the individual who has performed said act as well as on the recipient, regardless of whether the act is acknowledged. Kindness brings about more kindness and slowly but surely takes a positive toll on humanity.

Weaving the thread of kindness into your everyday life can be as easy as choosing to offer a hearty “Good morning” and “Good night” to your coworkers or neighbors, a stranger on the street, or the grocery store clerk. When you commit a kind act, you are momentarily disconnected from your ego and bonded with the individual who has benefited from your kindness. Being fully present in each moment of your life facilitates kindness as it increases your awareness of the people around you. You’ll discover that each act of kindness you engage in makes the world, in some small way, a better place.

Gilberto Rides Again Chapter 9

by Stephen Halpert

Gilberto made his way down Washington Street in Boston, past hash houses and bars. The meeting place Smith had chosen was different from any he’d set up in the past. The sushi restaurant was on the Corner near Harrison Avenue. As he went in, he saw tables were pressed together, enthusiastic students cheered the Red Sox on the large screen TV.

Peering through the noisy crowd, he spotted Smith sitting beside an attractive blond perhaps half his age. He waved and Gilberto wended his way back to their booth against the far wall. The light was dim.

“Not your usual choice for lunch,” Gilberto smiled.

Smith nodded. “We’re under cover. He moved his hands toward the large mirrored walls.  “Greater anonymity,” he said. “Meet Kris Rain, my associate since Jones jumped ship with that Cortez woman.” He frowned and cleared his throat.

Kris smiled politely. Her face showed the same intense professionalism he remembered in Jones. She nibbled on a slither of raw salmon.

Gilberto slid into the booth next to Smith. As he looked at Kris, he sensed something sad buried deep within her.

Smith went on. “Kris is recently stateside. She spent the last six years in Afghanistan.”

Gilberto waited to hear more, but nothing more about her was said. Smith opened his satchel and pulled out a thick file. “You may recognize some of the characters in this caper.” He withdrew several black and white photos of Sarah Midgley, each with a different male. “We’ve been interested in Ms. Midgley for quite some time. She seems to be well versed in corporate espionage.”

“Sarah?” His eyes flew open. “What?” he said.

A waiter appeared, handed him a menu.”

“The sushi special platter is to die for,” Kris said. “Dig in ours.”  Then she turned to Smith. “You were right. The two Asians at a front table,” She tilted her head in that direction. “They followed him in.”

Gilberto straightened up. “What?” he repeated. He was taken aback. He wasn’t expecting any secret agent stuff, not today, not on his lunch break. A memory of the ordeal with Karibe flashed through his mind. He sighed and shook

his head. “Why does everything about you seem like an Alfred Hitchcock movie?”

Smith half smiled but didn’t respond. “Obviously there’s more to this than you know. Best you stay in the dark. The less you know the less you might inadvertently share.”

Gilberto stared at Smith. What was this government agent talking about? Why were there always complications?

To Gilberto, Smith seemed the much the same as he was ten years before, aside from a few flecks of gray in his hair and perhaps an extra ten pounds around his middle. His eyes had the same watchfulness as his new partner, Kris Rain. They both seemed as though they had seen too much.

“We’re not sure who ultimately gives Sarah Midgley her orders. Of course, she might only be engaged in back alley corporate espionage, stock swindles, those sorts of schemes. In which case let sleeping dogs lie. But what concerns us is her travel itinerary. She’s been to Beijing and Moscow too often to be just your average tourist. And once she clears customs she seems to vanish.

Kris stood up and lazily sauntered toward the middle of the packed Sushi bar. She came to a sudden halt at the table occupied by the two Chinese.

“Oh, excuse me,” she said half stumbling against them. Two glasses were knocked from the table. “So clumsy of me. I’m searching for the ladies room.”

Both Chinese jumped to their feet, glared at her, but refrained from any other action.

Kris brushed off her skirt, turned and moved away from their table.

Gilberto saw Smith’s face tighten. He opened his jacket. Gilberto wondered if he was getting ready to access his shoulder holster. Then he sat back again and relaxed.

“So, you think Sara’s more than she appears?” Gilberto’s voice was dry. “Why are you telling me all this?”

“As of now the lady’s sweet on you,” Smith said.

Gilberto seemed confused. “How do you know that?”

“My guess is that she well might be wanting to recruit you to participate in one of her schemes.”

Gilberto frowned. “She’s not my type. Besides I’m happily married.”

“Exactly,” Smith said dryly. “That in itself makes you just her type. If she can wrestle you into her arms, she can utilize you by compromising your integrity. Let’s start with blackmail. It’s not uncommon.”

Kris returned to the table, slid into the booth, and surreptitiously handed a

small flat cell phone to Smith. “Here’s the taller one’s phone. He’ll be missing it soon.”

Gilberto saw that the two Asians were gone.

“You blew their cover. Watch your back.,” Smith said. He looked at Gilberto. “Messenger boys. As I suspected, someone’s keeping tabs on you.”

Gilberto turned to Smith. What exactly do you want me to do?”

“Flattery will get you everywhere,” Smith said. “Let her draw you in.”

Gilberto frowned. “Mind telling me why?”

“National security,” Smith said. “She’s been in the middle of too many exploding situations. Do you recall as a kid reading the comic strip Terry and the Pirates? Remember the character, Dragon Lady?”

“I guess,” Gilberto said. “But wasn’t she hard and slinky with very intense eyes? Oh yes, and as I remember she could handle a knife.”

“Add a few pounds,” Smith said. “Don’t let Sarah’s matronly façade fool you. This woman’s been around the block more than one might suspect. She has an agenda and we’d like to know more about what she’s got in mind.”

“I brushed her off coming back from the Atlas picnic. I hope I made it obvious I wasn’t interested,” Gilberto said.

Kris grinned. “That puts more spice in the cabbage,” she drawled. She touched Gilberto’s shoulder. “You have that he man appeal, oh mild mannered executive.”

Gilberto grinned. He looked at Smith. “She’s a lot more fetching than Jones.”

Smith nodded. “And twice as deadly.”

Kris blushed. “Oh, I wouldn’t go that far.”

“I would,” Smith said. He turned to Gilberto. “The plot thickens. Just be careful.”

Kitty’s Korner

Truth About Catnip

Catnip’s Effects Catnip: Toys and Training

Catnip, catmint, catwort, field balm — it doesn’t matter what you call it. Lions, tigers, panthers, and your common domestic tabby just can’t seem to get enough of this fragrant herb.

Originally from Europe and Asia, minty, lemony, potent catnip — Nepeta cataria — has long been associated with cats. Even its Latin-derived cataria means “of a cat.” And research shows that cats big and small adore this weedy, invasive member of the mint family. But why do they like catnip so much? Is it safe? And what does it mean if your cat doesn’t like it?

Catnip’s Effects

It’s genetics that determines whether your feline friend falls for this cousin to basil and oregano. About one cat in two inherits a sensitivity to the herb. But you won’t know if your kitten is one of them until sometime between ages 3 and 6 months.

Catnip’s allure is in its volatile oil, specifically one chemical in that oil — nepetalactone. Found in catnip’s leaves, stems, and seeds, it only takes one or two sniffs of that wondrous oil before susceptible felines are licking, chewing, and rolling head-over-tail in kitty bliss.

Though intense, that bliss is usually short-lived, lasting about 10 minutes for most cats. For some, the euphoria translates into aggressive playfulness. At the same time, it makes others mellow and calm. But no matter what reaction your cat has, once the pleasure passes it’ll be about two hours before kitty responds to catnip again.

Catnip: Toys and Training

Because cats do respond to catnip again and again, the herb can be a powerful training aid.

Want to keep kitty from clawing furniture? Rub a scratching post with catnip to make it more appealing. Bought a new cat bed? Sprinkle a little of the herb on kitty’s cushion to make it more attractive to your feline friend.

You can also provide enrichment for an indoor kitty by creating catnip toys. Sprinkle a bit of the herb into an old sock, then knot the top. Or put a big pinch of catnip in a small paper bag and crush the bag into a tight ball.

The intensity of kitty’s response to toys and training will be affected by the type of catnip you use. While most cats enjoy the herb dried or fresh, they’re usually less interested in catnip sprays, which generally don’t contain enough nepetalactone to appeal to most felines.

Fortunately for kitty, catnip — which is non-addictive and safe to eat — is easy to grow in a sunny window. You can even go so far as to create your own kitty garden with one pot of catnip and one of wheat, oat, rye, or barley grass. Not only will kitty enjoy both, but having its own house plants may keep kitty out of yours. If you plant catnip directly in the garden, remember that, like most mints, it’s a vigorous, sometimes invasive, grower.

Catnip’s potency doesn’t last forever; the essential oils quickly dissipate. So if you buy dried catnip for your feline friend, store what you don’t use in the freezer.

Georgia Nicols Weekly Horoscope: Sunday, Sunday, July 11, 2021

All Signs

We’ve had challenging times. (I had a toothache with a hangover.) But this week looks promising! It starts with Mercury dancing with lucky Jupiter. (Mercury is about how we talk, think and communicate. It also dictates our daily habits.) So, this week begins with optimism and hoping for the best! Then Venus lines up with Mars, which is another way of saying, “it’s more of a good thing!” Following that, the Sun nods at Neptune, which encourages feelings of sympathy and romance. Admittedly, late Saturday, power struggles are possible. Well, nothing’s perfect. Of course, we can appeal to trendy wisdom: “Perfection…. is to live each day as if it were your last.” Actually, that’s not so trendy; that quote was by Marcus Aurelius.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

This is a positive week! Your focus on home and family is strong. Expect enthusiastic family discussions about plans for the future or major repairs or changes to your home. These discussions might include social plans for the future – a reunion perhaps. Interaction with a parent is still strong. This is a very playful, fun-loving week for you! Sports, social outings, fun activities with children and romance will be on the menu. You might also have a heart-to-heart talk with someone in your family, perhaps a parent or someone older. If so, it will be mutually sympathetic and mutually beneficial. It’s all good.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

Because you’re in a positive frame of mind this week, you will have a positive week. It’s that simple because your attitude about anything will affect your experience. You’re making big plans and you’re excited about something. Spontaneous short trips are likely. There’s also a lot going on at home. Expect to entertain at home and be involved with family occasions. Nevertheless, increased chaos and activity at home will create some pandemonium. Fortunately, with your positive frame of mind – you’re on it. Later in the week, day dreams and fantasies will appeal. You might also have a heart-to-heart talk with someone. It’s good to do this because we all need deeper connections with someone from time to time.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Money, cash flow and earnings continue your priority. This week, you have moneymaking ideas! You also have big plans connected with cash flow. This could mean a financial outlay in your business or it might mean a major expenditure. You might also talk to a group of important people and in turn, this could affect your earnings? Some of you are busy taking care of or repairing something that you own. Meanwhile this is a fast-paced, upbeat, optimistic week for you. Your relations with others will be smooth and friendly; nevertheless, you will be aggressive in going after what you want. You won’t mince words.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

A lively week for you! The Sun is still in your sign boosting your energy and attracting opportunities and people to you. Meanwhile, at the beginning of the week, Mercury is

in your sign dancing with lucky Jupiter. This pumps your enthusiasm and makes you want to endorse big ideas, perhaps related to travel, publishing, the media or something to do with medicine and the law. You’ve got plans! Meanwhile, fair Venus and Mars are lined up in your Money House. Venus will attract money to you and encourage buying beautiful things; while Mars will make you use something you own to get stuff done. Guard against impulse purchases to boost your ego. (Save your money.)

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

You are still taking a backseat to everything around you because the Sun is hiding in your chart, waiting to make its dramatic entrance when your birthday arrives. Until then, be happy playing things low-key. You’ll be excited about some kind of study or research this week that will yield happy results that please you. This is also a great week to buy wardrobe items for yourself. With Venus in your sign, you will love socializing with others and you’ll be oh so charming. Fortunately, fiery Mars will boost your energy and give you the juice to get things done. As your birthday approaches, you’re making plans in a number of different areas. (You like to organize the efforts of others.)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Your popularity continues to soar! Everyone wants to see your face, especially younger people. The beginning of this week is a wonderful time to make plans and set future goals. You like to do this because you are a natural list maker. (Lists are so satisfying because they give you the illusion that you’re doing something. I love them.) You might organize a social gathering of people this week. Meanwhile, personally, the probabilities of a secret love affair or at least a flirtation are very high. Some of you are definitely doing something that could be juicy diary fodder – but who has the time? Enjoy a friendly week with others.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

This is a powerful week because the Sun is still at the top of your chart casting you in a flattering spotlight, which means others admire you. Since the Sun is at the top of your chart only once a year (for four weeks), make the most of this fabulous advantage! Go after what you want! A discussion with a boss, parent or teacher will make you happy because it will include exciting. big plans. These could be plans about business or commercial activities or plans for the future. Meanwhile, as one of the most social signs in the zodiac, you’ll will be glad to hear it’s a great week to schmooze and enjoy the company of artistic, creative types. You might be in a competition? Perhaps sports? A fun week ahead!

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

You are restless for adventure right now. You need a change of scenery and you’re eager to travel. Basically, you want to do something different so that you feel stimulated and turned on! You will particularly enjoy meeting people who are different and unusual – perhaps younger. This week you might make big travel plans or you might make ambitious plans connected with the law, medicine and higher education, or something to do with publishing and the media. You will be further encouraged to explore these ideas because relations with parents and bosses are excellent now due to the fact that Venus will smooth the way for all discussions. Meanwhile, you’re ambitious and ready to act! Go, go, go! Fire in the hole!

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

Most of you are totally absorbed with dealing with shared property, taxes, debt and the wealth of someone else. You might be busy with financial transactions, inheritances and red-tape details. One thing is certain: discussions about these areas will go well this week, especially on Monday. Meanwhile, as the traveller of the zodiac, you’re keen to make travel plans, which you will do because both Venus and Mars want you to get outta Dodge. Venus encourages travel for pleasure as well as romance with someone “different.” Mars will make you act on these desires. Take care of your planning first – then do what you can to blow this pop stand. Bon voyage!

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Partnerships and close friendships continue to be a big focus for you because the Sun is still opposite your sign this week. This happens only once a year for four weeks; when it does, it gives you the best opportunity in the year to rethink and rework the details of your closest relationships. For starters, you will have more objectivity to see your own role in these relationships. That could be illuminating. On Monday, an important discussion with someone will be upbeat and perhaps ambitious in its scope. We’re talking big ideas! Major change! Meanwhile, keep your pockets open because you can benefit from the wealth of someone this week. Not only that, romance will be hot and sexy!

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

You continue to be in work mode, which is a good thing because you want to accomplish a lot right now. You’re enthused about your job or any project that you’re doing, which is why discussions with others at the beginning of the week are ambitious and exciting. Discussions about business and commercial activities will go well, especially Monday. This is a good time to sign contracts. Your mind is very sharp and quick to see the big picture. You will also be open to new ideas. Fortunately, Venus opposite your sign promotes good relations with others, which is what you need because Mars opposite your sign can promote tension with partners and close friends. As I said in All Signs above – nothing is perfect.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

It continues to be play city for your sign! Lucky you! Accept all invitations to party. Enjoy sports events, social outings, playful activities with kids, little or big vacations as well as chances to express your creative talents. Romance will flourish! At the beginning of this week, you might be excited about big vacation plans or plans related to a major social event or something to do with your kids. These big ideas or discussions might also relate to something in the entertainment field. Meanwhile, things are going very well at work for you because Mars gives you the energy to be doggedly persevering, while Venus promotes relations with coworkers. A lovely week!

Weekly Horoscopes beginning Sunday, 11 July 2021

If you’re born within a cusp period (16 to 26 of any month); you’re advised to read horoscopes of both signs covered by that period. You’re on the border; you may have influences from houses within those signs.

Outlines are longer versions; consists of every possible detail of everyday and based on three parts of each sign: 1st, 2nd & 3rd Decan; that is, any of three divisions of 10° within a sign of the zodiac. Even if you know or don’t know your Decan; I recommend, please read all three Decan.

Aries

Personal theme: I am!!

Fire & cardinal sign: March 21 — April 19

Your horoscope for this week:

Life’s about action. Often that’s because of events or, possibly, others’ decisions regarding far-reaching changes. While you thrive on this swift pace, certain individuals are anxious. Despite that, you’re urged to focus on what’s arisen and on entirely unexpected ideas or offers. The trick is to show interest but avoid committing until circumstances and, as much, your priorities and others’ understanding are clearer, probably next week.

You’re tempted to give in to a relative’s pleas even though this will be an inconvenience. They will remind you of all they have done for you but they seem to forget you’ve already done them many a favour or two in the past. If you give in to them now, it will be doubly difficult to stand up for yourself in the future. A sudden inspiration will prompt you to start work on a creative project you’ve put off for months.

By next Saturday, the silvery crescent Moon will be visible and you too should feel as though you’ve reached a new beginning. The accent is very much on home and domestic circumstances. Ensuring that these support your career aims and that there is healthy work life balance looks to be extra important. It may be that you feel the need to point this out to colleagues too. What looks particularly interesting is that over Thursday and Friday, conversation seems to revolve around presentation and internet projects. In both cases it seems you have strong opinions – developed in recent weeks – and which have made you acutely aware of the power of both colour and advertising.

Taurus

Personal theme: I have!!

Earth & fixed sign: April 20 — May 20

Your horoscope for this week:

True, changes are thrilling. However, they’re relentless and will continue until the end of the month. This gives you little opportunity to pause and review your progress or decide what’s next. The solution? For now, take a philosophical approach; live one day at a time. Regard both short term plans and equally far-reaching decisions as an experiment. While challenging initially, you’ll soon be more relaxed than for ages.

Keeping worries, anxieties and negative thoughts inside is making you even more tense and anxious. Start opening up to others. Confiding in someone you can trust is one way to pull yourself out of the mire. Talk to a close friend and you will feel the difference. An established relationship might begin on a new phase. You could find yourself thrust in a position of authority when a person in charge is unavoidably delayed. You are more than capable of handling these extra responsibilities.

Your ruling planet, Venus, aligns with Mars at the very base of your solar chart this week. This last occurred in 2015. The cosmos doesn’t do exact repeats, but you may be reminded of a desire to feel warmer and more secure. That may have worked at many different levels: from changing a heating supplier to increasing an insurance package. The backdrop offered by the outer planets is now different – leaving you acutely aware of climate change and how this is altering business practices. It’s not inconceivable that over Thursday and Friday that you will be asked to make comment and to advise – most likely on issues around conserving water or some other fluid (ink toner?)!

Gemini

Personal theme: I think!!

Air sign: May 21 — June 20

Your horoscope for this week:

Thrilling as the changes you’ve already made are, and promising as the ideas you’re discussing may be, plans aren’t coming together. Actually, that’s a relief. What arises is so varied that you’ll need time both learn about and explore these, and where they’re taking take you. What comes to light isn’t just exciting, you’re discovering a new world of options, many beyond anything you’d previously imagined possible.

After a close friend lets you down badly, you’re more determined than ever to make sure no one takes advantage of you. Causing waves in relationships isn’t something you will do with joy but if that’s what it takes to stand up for yourself, that’s what you will do. Your aim will be to keep your feelings private and because your feelings run deeply, this will take a lot of willpower. You aren’t entirely sure about a work opportunity. Take time to think about it.

It would be understandable if you began the week anxious about both financial support and energy levels. Difficult conversations might need to take place; most likely concerning transport and communications. Whilst plans may have been in preparation for some time, you could still feel overwhelmed by how much there is to do and how much has yet to be pruned before you can really move on. As a result, Thursday and Friday could be super busy. The process of relieving yourself of items no longer of use should leave you feeling as though you’re shedding skin but leaving you, by the first Quarter Moon next Saturday, accepting that you now have space and time to develop a research and development project that’s been developing in the back of your mind for months.

Cancer

Personal theme: I feel!!

Water & cardinal sign: June 21 — July 22

Your horoscope for this week:

The Cancer New Moon, on 10 July, is important. So much, you’ll have spotted its influence days before and, equally, for a week afterwards. While the changes it triggers may be clear, their benefits won’t be, at least immediately; and that’s the secret to dealing with this wonderful but sometimes unsettling period. Regard it as an adventure, one during which each day offers yet more valuable insights.

Take the chance to get to know someone you see most days but you haven’t really talked to. You could find yourself working behind the scenes together and this seems to be the ideal opportunity to increase your interactions. If you are single and recently you’ve been playing hard to get, be ready to change tactics. Teamwork and group activities are the best way to get things done. Someone who is helpful, kind and fun to be with is sure to add a dash of spice to your days.

Mercury is now moving through your sign: the implications being that you will have no difficulty in finding your voice and making clear your thoughts, whilst at the same time being acutely aware of sensitivity and boundaries. You may recognise ahead of others that revised plans will appear threatening to those affected. Issues around efficiency and organisational skills might need to be addressed. A strong possibility is that Aries, Leo or Sagittarius colleagues will require extra support. It may be that they don’t realise the image they’re putting across. In pursuing dialogue with them however, you might also accept that your own image could do with attention. Whether this is through Instagram, Facebook or other social media account, how you present, even your signature style would surely benefit from attention. Given the strong possibility that someone has already been assessing your work and has plans to work with you, giving attention to these areas could be a shrewd move.

Leo

Personal theme: I will!!

Fire & fixed sign: July 23 — August 22

Your horoscope for this week:

Tempting as it is to plunge into the intriguing ideas or offers coming your way, they’re just a taste of potentially worthwhile arrangements yet to come. Being a Leo and fire sign, while the resulting slow pace may irritate you, it’s wise. Within days you’ll realise how much circumstances and your priorities are shifting. First, discuss your options. The more you learn now, the wiser your decisions will be.

Being willing to put effort into your goals is what will ultimately make you successful. It really doesn’t matter what other people say. If you are serious about your aims, you will find a way to achieve and you will do this with or without the support of your family and friends. You’re thinking about returning to something you gave up a while ago. The time is right now to give it another go and you sense this too.

Venus and Mars align in your sign on Tuesday. The last time this happened was in 2015 and before that in 1989. It’s not so much what happens on the day itself, but the vibration around you that appears to alter at these conjunctions and then lead you into different and exciting working partnerships. The cosmos never does exact repeats, but it’s likely that 2021 will eventually stand out as being a year when you made important connections. As you might expect, with Mars moving through your sign, others could find you pushy and demanding. In fact, you may simply be exercising desires whose roots go back some weeks. You may have a sense that unless you achieve or realise some of these before the end of July, an opportunity will be lost. So, it’s probable you be drawn to those with vision and who, like you presently, want to create a new world.

Virgo

Personal theme: I analyse!!

Earth sign: August 23 — September 22

Your horoscope for this week:

You’ve a talent for adjusting to changes. Yet recent events and what arises over the coming weeks will move so swiftly even you could be confused. The secret? For now, forget about analysis. Take things as they come. While this requires discipline, it gives you time to observe developments and explore, possibly venturing into new territory. Rarely was there a better time to do exactly that.

If someone made you a promise don’t listen to their excuses as why they suddenly cannot keep it. No matter what others do to you, demand they honour all contacts and agreements made. Preparations continue for a big event that’s being planned for the future. The chance to make some money out of a hobby or some other interest shouldn’t be overlooked. Even if this is not a regular source of income, it will still be satisfying earning money from doing something you love.

As we know, yours is a sign given over to sometimes very obvious anxiety. Your preference is always to have things running efficiently smoothly, and creatively. You have a particular gift from multitasking and can have different parts of your brain operating at different paces all at the same time. This of course makes you a valuable member of any team who may view you as the ideal and most competent service provider. You will however need to take care especially this week, that you don’t take on more than is necessary and give yourself too many things to fret about. With others determined to pursue more polished presentation styles, and focused on making up for lost time, it’s entirely possible that they’ll overlook practicalities. It would be understandable if, by Thursday, you felt entirely swamped and may be important to make good connection – most likely with a Capricorn who refuses to get hot and bothered and who understands your anxiety.

Libra

Personal theme: I balance!!

Air & cardinal sign: September 23 — October 22

Your horoscope for this week:

Although they may not seem so, the unexpected and, often, unsettling changes you’re facing are in your best interests. What’s more, acknowledging that lightens the pressure you’re feeling. While, obviously, plans are essential, with so much in transition, the secret it to regard them as tentative, if not an experiment. For now, the more you explore, the better. Decisions? They can wait until you’re well into August.

A colleague will be quick to point out your mistakes. Their words will upset you and you might feel they are being overly critical. If you need advice, you would be better off consulting a more sensitive adviser. Do your best to avoid argumentative and discordant situations as rows will affect your health in negative ways. Getting involved with a community or charitable project will take your mind off problems that are plaguing you.

The alignment of your ruling planet Venus, with Mars in the networking zone of your solar chart suggests that this week you’ll want to expand your social boundaries. This isn’t so much about reviving old connections, but rather about reaching out into fresh areas. An Aries, Leo, or Sagittarius colleague may be involved. It could seem that most people are ‘high on speed’; certainly, the pace looks to be quickening. The difficulty is that so much could be overlooked. Yours is the sign of balance and those scales can so easily be tipped leaving you overwhelmed and unfocused. It might help to think of these few days as offering a massive cosmic download where you don’t want to interrupt the flow, but need to remember the key passwords chosen along the way. Maintaining careful pace seems imperative.

Scorpio & Ophiuchus

Personal theme: I desire!!

Water & fixed signs: October 23 — November 21

Your horoscope for this week:

Currently you’re facing a range of situations as intriguing as, often, they are puzzling. While ordinarily you’d wait, watch and learn from them, certain matters are moving swiftly. This could mean committing to extensive changes while short of facts. Still, explore these in depth. At minimum, you’ll learn something. However, you’re likely to warm to even unfamiliar arrangements. Doubts? Remember, you’re only considering your options, not committing.

Don’t give up if you’re struggling to accomplish something alone. Instead try teaming up with like-minded people or think about turning this challenge into a community exercise. You will accomplish more through joining forces with others than you would on your own. Besides, being a part of a team will bring more meaning to your life. Are you job hunting? A good move would be to put together a list of contacts who might help you progress your career.

Not since 2015 have Venus and Mars (your ruling planet), aligned in a major career zone of your solar chart. Obviously, this conjunction affects all signs, but some will tune in more than others. It seems likely that you’ll feel propelled to follow a dream and yes, might be seen by some people as being fixated. This could affect all areas of life and there will likely be impact in romantic relationships. It’s probable though, that your entrepreneurial spirit will surface, that your creativity will be acknowledged, and that a group will reach out and ask you to join their team. It may be that you’ve had dealings with this group in the past. Whilst on the one hand it might seem a feel as though you’re taking a step back, your particular expertise may be so much more appreciated this time.

Sagittarius

Personal theme: I see!!

Fire sign: November 22 — December 21

Your horoscope for this week:

Although the planetary setup indicates your plans will be successful in the long run, things are unlikely to go smoothly. So, tempting as it is to speed up the pace, instead busy yourself with tasks elsewhere. This prevents you interfering in arrangements developing in the background; and, in the meantime? Get in touch with anybody you’ve neglected, some for-a while. Each encounter will be unexpectedly significant.

The help you need is close by. Friends and workmates who are skilled and experienced are willing to help you. Be sure to make good use of this wonderful opportunity while you can. Someone will make it clear how attractive they find you. It will be a big temptation to respond to their advances. If you already have a partner, do you really want to jeopardise this relationship? A few moments of passion is no substitute for a loving, supportive partnership.

Obviously, all signs will be affected by the conjunction of Venus and Mars in another of the Fire signs on Tuesday. The last time they met in this area of the zodiac area was in 2015. The cosmos never does exact repeats, but it is possible that work – and particularly educational – contacts made back then, will be revived. That said, this might not be the happiest of experiences. You may find that just too much has changed. Others might need to work hard to persuade you of new directions. It’s been acknowledged that Sagittarians have a tendency to need to be seen as having been ‘right’. On this occasion, you may need to accept that others were doing the best they could under the circumstances. They may not have been the best people for the job, but at least they tried. Now, it may be up to you to get up to speed with new systems – a challenge that could take the rest of this month and next.

Capricorn

Personal theme: I use!!

Earth & cardinal sign: December 22 — January 19

Your horoscope for this week:

During July’s first half, you’ve reviewed and, often, substantially altered crucial arrangements. While that seemed sufficient then, you’re making yet more changes. This is due to discoveries but, also, unexpected shifts in circumstances. Because these continue, regard both existing arrangements and future plans as an experiment, and even sudden developments as a delightful surprise. That way, instead of worrying, you’ll regard what arises as the adventure it is.

A heart to heart will encourage you to say things you’ve been thinking recently but haven’t had the courage to admit. Your loved ones will be more forthcoming now that you are showing a willingness to handle uncomfortable personal truths. You know that it is time to stop avoiding the inevitable. With their support, you will find it easier to get a hold of your emotions. Meeting up with a friend will bring a surprise when they make a significant announcement.

There is little doubt, that when Capricorns identify a thirst for knowledge, you pursue it until you have it. The intensity with which you approach this acquisition could astonish a few people mid-week. Yet perhaps you sense that unless retraining and rebranding is at least considered, that a project will not advance. You may have a personal deadline of this month to clear certain items from your desk and indeed from the agenda of (until now) regular meetings. Meanwhile, you may be in awe of someone close whose career path is now clear, but who is overwhelmed by the administration involved. Here you could have very definite impact. In fact, with your guidance and support, progress could be fast and bring benefits both at home and at work.

Aquarius

Personal theme: I know!!

Air & fixed sign: January 20 — February 18

Your horoscope for this week:

As you begin the week, you’re still juggling the shakeups, mostly welcome, currently altering your thinking and your life. However, trust instincts that say to regard whatever you organise as tentative. This week’s twists and turns are the beginning of a cycle of unsettling yet, ultimately, timely change. Knowing that, regard any plans, your own or involving others, as more of an experiment than anything lasting.

Be honest about your aims and intentions. Beating about the bush will irritate someone who is trying to help you. You regularly give your time to others and will often be the first to help those in need. That’s why you shouldn’t hesitate to ask when you could do with some help. If you’re ready to drop some responsibilities, let people know it. Don’t feel guilty for wanting to make pleasure a bigger part of your life.

The last time that Venus and Mars aligned in your opposite sign was in 2015. Their alignment this Tuesday is on a different degree, – but still in the sign of Leo. This combination is usually talked about in terms of romance. Yet it also works at the business, and other type of partnership, level. A conjunction is, of course, just the beginning of a cycle. It will be some months before a partnership formed this week develops. That said, this week you should be full of the idealism and excited by the potential value of uniting. Of course, it’s important that practicalities aren’t overlooked. A heart-to-heart conversation about your respective responsibilities would be wise. It might also be that yet again, a schedule has to be adjusted. Building in flexibility is essential and not impossible but require that in the first instance you agree to be relieved of one pressure that has been too much for too long.

Pisces

Personal theme: I believe!!

Water sign: February 19 — March 20

Your horoscope for this week:

The fresh perspective triggered by the New Moon, on Friday the 10th, may inspire discussion; but clarifying the actual issues, then finding ways to handle each, will occupy you well into July’s second half. While this will require patience, the insights you gain one day, give you the confidence to continue the process of discussion, exploration and discovery that are central as this amazing week unfolds.

A close friend or partner is a tower of strength as they get involved in important arrangements you are making. Although you’re kept busy most of the time, there’s a cheerful and optimistic spirit in the air. Your positive and flexible approach to a group challenge will put you on the path to abundance. Someone who admires your versatility will offer you a job. Working for a large organisation will be more rewarding than expected.

This could prove yet another week of high drama. If working with those born under the Fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius, be prepared for fireworks. The alignment of Venus and Mars in Leo mirrors a similar conjunction that took place in 2015. The cosmos doesn’t do exact repeats, but it’s likely that issues that were first raised then will need to be addressed once more. It may be that at least one person is resistant to adopting new working practices. It is imperative however that they do. Only those businesses which accept that old ways of working are no longer productive will survive the pressures of the next couple of years and it is imperative to think forward. In your case, that might also include at least planning a move or making serious alteration to both your home and working environment.
