Light A Candle Today!
In many different traditions lighting a candle is a sacred action. It expresses more than words can express. It has to do with gratefulness. From time immemorial, people have lit candles in sacred places. You may want to begin or end your day by the sacred ritual of lighting a candle on this gratefulness. Or you may want to light a birthday candle for a friend. One single guideline is all you need: Slow down and do it with full attention.

Llewellyn’s Spell a Day

Make a Wish
November 17, 2019 by Dallas Jennifer Cobb

Tonight and tomorrow are peak nights for the annual Leonid meteor shower, occurring from November 5 to 30 in 2019. Up to fifteen meteors per hour will be visible to the naked eye. Go outdoors, in the dark, after midnight. Find the constellation of Leo, where the meteors radiate from. A meteor is matter broken off an asteroid or comet that burns up upon entering the earth’s atmosphere. The “shooting stars” effect lasts for a few seconds or up to a minute.

Like a kid, invoke the magic of the stars. When you see a meteor trail, repeat the age-old rhyme with a minor change:

Star light, star bright,
this meteor I see tonight,
I wish I may, I wish I might,
have this wish I wish tonight.

Make a wish. Or stay out for an hour and make up to fifteen wishes on the bright meteor trails streaking across the sky.

Restoring the Calm Spell
November 16, 2019 by Melanie Marquis

Use this spell to restore calm and balance when you find yourself in circumstances of chaos and annoyance. Fill a wide-mouthed glass with water. Sprinkle on a large quantity of black pepper as you think about all the things in your life that are currently causing you irritation. Now take a deep breath, exhaling across the top of the glass as you squeeze a single drop of dish washing liquid into the water. As the pepper quickly flees from the soap due to changes in surface tension, envision your irritations being driven away just as swiftly from your own sphere of influence.

Affirmation to Banish Negative Emotions
November 15, 2019 by Ember Grant

We all have those days when we feel down, overly critical of ourselves, or unappreciated. Don’t let those negative emotions deceive you. Use this spell to banish them and restore your confidence. All you need for this spell is a blanket.

Find a comfortable place to sit and wrap yourself in the blanket. Make yourself as cozy as possible. Visualize the blanket as a reassuring hug or a pat on the back.
Chant:

Dismiss all the worry,
don’t let it hold sway.
Start over tomorrow,
another new day.
Can’t beat myself up,
just release the care.
With these gentle words
I no longer despair.

Follow up by doing something you enjoy or pampering yourself. You deserve it.

Cheer Up!
November 14, 2019 by Barbara Ardinger

Starting about mid-November, gloomy weather and the prospect of family holidays can make us depressed. All those old family arguments around the dinner table… or maybe we’re not even invited. Which is worse? Our minds fill up with resentments and—whoa! Stop that. It’s not healthy.

What to do? Occupy your mind with cheerier, more useful thoughts:

1. Recite a mantra like Om Tare Tuttare Ture Soha, or maybe turn it into a song. Recite or sing it while you’re driving.

2. Read Dion Fortune’s The Mystical Qabalah and learn the names and meanings of the ten sephiroth: Kether, Chokmah, Binah, Chesed, Geburah, Tiphareth, Netzach, Hod, Yesod, and Malkuth. Learn to recite them up and down the Tree of Life.

3. Sing Deena Metzger’s goddess chant: Isis, Astarte, Diana, Hecate, Demeter, Kali, Inanna.

If you’re working on remembering which sephira goes where or which goddess comes next, you won’t have time to be depressed. Cheer up!

Onion Spell to Reveal the Truth
November 13, 2019 by Kate Freuler

This spell is to be performed when you know someone is being dishonest about something important but their manipulation is keeping you and others from the truth. This spell takes several days to complete and should be begun today, during the waning moon.

Cut the top off an onion. Insert a pin or sewing needle directly into the center core and push it all the way down. This pin represents the truth. Peel the first layer off the outside of the onion. Visualize a barrier being broken in your situation; see yourself getting closer to finding out what you need to know. Each night at the same time, peel another layer off the onion. By the time you get to the pin at the center, the truth will be revealed. Be warned: it may not be what you expected!

A Full Moon Spell to Increase Psychic Powers
November 12, 2019 by James Kambos

The November full moon, also known as the Frost Moon, is a potent time to perform spells to increase psychic abilities. For this spell you’ll need a small glass or crystal sphere. Hold the sphere up so the moon is visible through it. If it’s a cloudy night, face toward the direction of the moon. Hold the image of the moon with your eye and say:

Frost Moon, guardian of the Mysteries,
Bestow upon me the gift of prophecy.
Frost Moon, crown jewel of
the November night,
Bless me with the gift of second sight.

Thus, you’ve charged your sphere with the psychic energy of the November full moon. This is now a sacred magical tool. Keep it wrapped in fine black fabric, such as silk or velvet. Let no one else touch it. Place it on your altar when you work with any divining tool.

Winter Travel Advisory Withstanding
November 11, 2019 by Estha McNevin

Here in Montana, we’re used to driving in some pretty unforgiving weather conditions. Early and often we learn the wisdom of on-rig support, from glow sticks to roughand- ready food packs; indeed it is wise to travel with a kind of preparedness in all seasons when venturing out into the wild lands. Amongst our chains and Army-Navy survival food packs, you’ll also find an emergency spell kit with the following items:

• Candle
• Matches/lighter
• Compass
• Mirror
• Small boline blade
• Copy of the book Be Here Now by Ram Dass

If you encounter accident, injury, or misdirection, have a contingency travel plan in case emergency services need to search your vehicle for clues of your identity or whereabouts. Use the compass to get your bearings; pray to the direction you find yourself in. Envision your topical knowledge of where you are, and stay put for as long as you can. Use the boline to gather kindling and small shrub wood. Use the candle and matches to light a fire. If you are distressed, evoke the elements and observe a solution, or combat stress by reading from the monumental and visionary work of Baba Ram Dass.

Surviving Monday Morning Frazzles
by Boudica

Monday morning can be a shock to the system of any good worker. We never know what to expect when we arrive at our place of business. Aromatherapy can keep us away from panic or stress and put us on the right track to solve even the most difficult of work tasks.

Smells are critical to our wellbeing. Smells can excite, calm, comfort, or invigorate us. We should learn to use smells to help us cope with stress in our everyday life. Aromatherapy has been shown to decrease stress and promote calm, among other benefits.

Use essential oils, as they are pure, and be sure to test for allergies before using. For calm and stress reduction, you can use lavender, cedar wood, patchouli, sandalwood, or rose. To invigorate, use oils of orange, peppermint, rosemary, or lemongrass.

How to Cleanse Your Mind and Body
By Cathy Wong

Our minds and bodies are constantly processing food, drink, thoughts, and emotions. In our 100 miles-per-minute world, we can easily feel overwhelmed.

Try taking some time regularly for yourself. Here are 5 tips on how to create a spa day at home:

1. Take a Technology Break

Make it a low-tech day. Keep your television, computer, cellphone and other electronics turned off.
Go for a walk in the park. Find a quiet place and try meditation techniques with step-by-step instructions.
Attend a yoga class in your neighborhood.
Stretch at home.
Get a skipping rope.

2. Try Tongue Scraping

Start your day by gently scraping your tongue (don’t worry, it doesn’t hurt!). In Ayurveda (a form of alternative medicine practiced in India), tongue coating is called “ama” and reflects metabolic debris. Tongue scrapers can be purchased in a drug store or health food store for a few dollars. They are used to clean the tongue.

3. Take Care of Your Body

Do a Dry Brush Exfoliation.

Learn how to take a contrast shower, which some alternative practitioners recommend to boost circulation and energy.

4. Cleanse Your Body

Make sure you are getting enough water.
A cold weather cleansing tea is ginger tea with the juice of a lemon wedge.
If you are a coffee drinker, switch to green tea for your detox day.
Learn how to make an alkaline vegetable broth for improved enzyme and cellular metabolism and general cleansing and detox.

5. Cleanse Your Mind

On your cleansing day, try to take steps to free yourself from the past events that continue to bother you. Start a personal ritual, such as writing a letter (you don’t have to send it!) to get out your feelings. Or buy a beautiful journal to give yourself a regular outlet for all your emotions, regrets, and worries. Don’t push these emotions away. Harness them and move on as a smarter person.

Heartwings Love Notes 907: Chicken Soup Made Simple

Heartwings says, “Chicken Soup is good for what ails you, and tastes good too.”

When my mother wanted chicken broth, she had to make it herself from scratch. The chicken broth that comes in a box is one of my favorite ingredients, useful in all sorts of recipes. I often use it to supplement cooking oil when I am frying a mixture with a starch, like rice or another grain and vegetables. It is a good substitute for additional fat when the mixture needs more “juice” to keep form drying out. I use it to enrich soups or make a white sauce for any number of recipes. It adds flavor, cuts back on calories when frying, or helps make soup the easy way.

The other night I was casting about for something simple to make for supper. I often have some soup already made or a nice leftover I can reheat and maybe add to. That night I didn’t. Then I remembered the cans of chunk chicken on my pantry shelf.
I had thought of these cans as being of use in a salad, however, soup felt more appropriate for a chilly evening. I opened the can of chicken chunks and poured the small amount of broth in the can into a pot. Then I began to add ingredients.

First came boxed chicken broth-around two cups. I had a few mushrooms, so I sliced them up. I added finely chopped celery and chopped a small onion. There were some leftover cooked carrots in the ‘fridge. I cut those in smaller pieces. Lastly, I added thyme, lemon pepper, chopped parsley and ground garlic. Once I brought the mixture to a boil, I added a handful of rice noodles and let it all cook for around ten minutes. It was delicious.

You can vary the ingredients to suit yourself. Curry powder might be nice, as would turmeric. The celery is important for flavor Ground garlic is a very helpful ingredient and not strong tasting, yet it adds some tang. The main ingredients are the broth and the chicken. If you have leftover rice you can use that. A quick supper is a wonderful help on a busy day. With the holidays coming days become busier than ever.

May you enjoy your cooking experiences and feel satisfied with your recipes.

Blessings and best regards, Tasha Halpert <tashahal@gmail.com>

PS Do you have any quick to fix recipes to share? I’d love to see them. Your emails make my day, and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Thank you so much for your readership.

Life Lessons through Reincarnation
By Madisyn Taylor

Often we reincarnate on earth with our soul family, and often our most intense relationships are with our soul family.

You meet someone for the first time and feel as if you know them already. You’re in a town that you’ve never been to before, yet you recognize streets and buildings. You start playing a new sport and amaze everyone, including yourself, at your natural abilities and intuitive knowing of the rules. We often describe such experiences as déjà vu: the experience or feeling that a new situation has happened to us before. Then again, the possibility does exist that we have actually lived these experiences in the past or, rather, in another lifetime.

Many spiritual practices believe that reincarnation is real: Our souls return to this earth over a series of lifetimes to evolve, learn, grow, transform, and become more spiritually attuned through the course of each life. When we reincarnate, it is believed that we tend to cycle through our different lives with many of the same people. Often these traveling “soul” companions are the ones we enter into relationships with; we work through our unresolved issues together so that we may heal. When we struggle or keep encountering blocks that keep us from reaching our goals, there may be a specific lesson that we are supposed to learn in this lifetime. Being naturally blessed with a musical talent or another gift can be a special ability that you worked hard to develop in a past life. You may even have lived before as another gender or as part of a different social or economic class. Each lifetime brings with it specific lessons that are necessary for our spiritual evolution.

Past life recall can give us valuable insights into our past, present, and future lives. The knowledge of how we lived before can help us overcome present obstacles, understand phobias, and resolve relationship issues. There are workshops you can take to learn about past lives, and past life regression therapists can guide you on your journey backward in time. You can learn to visit your past lives through your dreams, meditation, and trance work. It is even possible to see full scenes of a former lifetime flash before you in your mind’s eye as if you were watching a movie. While looking back at your past lives can be exciting and enlightening, it is important to remember that the answers you are seeking to this life can only truly be found by living this one. Look to your past to see where you’ve been, but remember that the life that matters most is the one that you are living now.

Homemade Cold and Flu Remedies
by Sharon Day

Tis the season to get sick, but there are some more natural and nutritious things you can add to your drinking schedule that might just help you heal faster, get less sick, and feel better overall.

There are medicinal teas, bitters, and even cocktails that can employ healing elements. It may be the dark months, but you can be the light!

Cocktails

If insomnia is your issue, consider red wine or sangria with cloves.

Feeling blue? Consider champagne with chocolate bitters made with the cacao bean (see bitters below)

The most favorite old fashioned cure-all is the hot toddy: 1/2 c. scotch, 1 lemon, 2 tsp sugar, 4 whole cloves, nutmeg, 1/2 c. boiling water. Peel lemon and put it in the bottom of a glass with sugar. Use a wooden spoon to press it. Set aside for 45 minutes. Now, quarter the lemon and squeeze it into the glass. Now, add whisky, cloves and boiling water. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Grate nutmeg on top.

Think about adding medicinals to your alcohol – utilizing spice and herbs. Rosemary and ginger are my two favs to actually put in beer or make sangria and add to cocktails.

When I made a spiked tea, I use candied ginger in it for flavor and sweetener, but when I’m done drinking it, I eat the ginger for the medicinal help. You can do the same with blueberries in your tea or cranberries. Eat them when done drinking.

Bitters: Alcohol mixed with botanicals to give an essential concentration of the properties and tastes within the plant matter. This can be used for medicinal purposes, cocktails or cooking. (This can also be done with apple cider vinegar, lemon or orange peels and spices if you want to not use alcohol).

Making Bitters

A dozen bitters I have made (above); cinnamon, almonds, cranberries, cloves, ginger, fennel, orange peel, cardamom, mint, basil, rosemary, and cilantro. Drops can be added to tea or water for curative properties and health and vitality or added to cooking for enhanced flavors.

Grain alcohol, mason jars, items you wish to turn into bitters, and I use hibiscus tea leaves – they add the “sour” bitter component nicely. Put a few ounces of the grain alcohol in each jar, add a bunch of the diced items – herbs/spice/root/berry/nut – and then add a tsp of the hibsicus tea leaves. Seal. Sit aside and shake now and then for about 2 weeks. When you open and smell it, it should smell of the item you infused more than the alcohol. Strain. I put them in dark dropper bottles (you can find them on Amazon). It protects them from sunlight’s effects.

These can be used in cocktails, hot teas, or add to water and drink. They give concentrated nutrients, great tastes, and the alcohol makes them relaxing and calming. If I have a cold, I use the parsley and rosemary in my tea to break up mucus. If I have tummy issues, I use ginger or mint. If I am aching all over, I use turmeric for anti-inflammatory response.

Curative teas

Fever/sore throat/flu/cold
Spicy green tea is an herbal tea remedy helpful in aiding immune functions, as well as breaking a fever and soothing a sore throat. Cayenne and ginger will both increase circulation and sweating, which is often useful in breaking a fever. Moreover, ginger is an effective anti-inflammatory for sore throats, while honey has long been believed to soothe a sore throat. Green tea has wonderful anti-inflammatory properties. Green tea is also associated with increased immune function and with combating influenza in general. Add to boiling water and steep for at least 20-30 minutes. Strain and drink. I also hang rosemary sprigs or eucalyptus from the shower head to steam up the air a bit with the sinus-clearing properties.

Stomach flu:
Ginger (either 1 tsp powdered or 1 slice of root)

Add to boiling water and steep 10 mins. Drink 2-3 times a day. Ginger is amazing on queasiness! Mint is great for gassiness, as is fennel. I chew fennel seeds when I have gas issues.

Aches and pains from chilly weather:
Cherries are a natural anti-inflammatory (25 cherries equals about one aspirin in anti-inflammatory effect). Cherry juice is a good one to have on hand if you workout a lot or in the wintertime you are feeling your past injuries, carrot juice is a close second. Green tea is good and if you add turmeric root or turmeric powder (1 tsp), it has amazing anti-inflammatory properties. And, don’t forget having Epsom salts on hand. I get a big bag at the drug store and I put it in a detergent container with an ice scoop to scoop it out. I add scented oils to make it even nicer. The Epsom salts, mag sulfate, is absorbed into the skin and gives good relief.

Properties of spices/herbs

Cinnamon: Mix cinnamon and honey and you get some great antiviral/antibacterial/anti-inflammatory properties. Use organic raw honey if you can. Ceylon cinnamon beats cassia. Mix 1/4 tsp cinnamon powder to 1 tsp honey. Take 2-3 times a day.

Basil: Antibacterial qualities and anti-inflammatory. Good steeped as tea.

Rosemary: Great for scratchy throat, sinus congestion and head pain. Can be used in tea or as gargle.

Ginger: The combo of ginger and cinnamon is a great one for colds. If you can, use ginger root, ground cinnamon and brown sugar as a tea.

Source: Put 3 cups of water into a sauce pan. Thinly slice (about as thin as a quarter) 1.5-2 inches of fresh ginger One teaspoon of powdered cinnamon Add 1-1.5 tablespoons of brown sugar. Bring to a light boil then turn down and simmer for 15-20 minutes.

Turmeric: A truly amazing anti-inflammatory. Try turmeric milk –

Source: 2 cups of milk (or substitute coconut milk) 1 teaspoon dried turmeric (or one-half inch fresh turmeric thinly sliced or diced) 1 teaspoon dried ginger (or one-half inch fresh ginger). Place milk in a saucepan over medium heat. Add turmeric, ginger, and pepper. Stir well if you are using the dried spices. Let the milk begin to simmer – small bubbles will form on the sides of the saucepan. Stir. Allow to heat for another minute or two being careful not to let the milk overheat. Continue to stir at this point to get better heat distribution and so that you don’t end up distracted in your kitchen and end up with boiled turmeric in your burner pans (*cough*). Turn off heat, cover, and allow the mixture to sit for ten minutes or to improve the infusion. Strain the milk through a strainer if you have used fresh ingredients. Serve warm.
Parsley: Helps kill bacteria, great for ear infections and stomach troubles.

Stephen Halpert
Time 7

Meanwhile on the Sunday morning of the eclipse in 1865, Adam and Ann huddled together in the chilly church. The wooden benches were hard, their feet were cold, and their breakfast had been that awful porridge again. In the sanctuary names of the war dead were carved into the sides of family pews.
Ann felt worn out. Her bones ached and she was always cold. This bleak time in American history was too much for her. She missed her computer, her reference data, and most of all the home they had made together. This adventure was getting very uncomfortable and she wished it would end.
As the choir sang a hymn for the Union dead she leaned over and whispered to Adam. “It’s so recent. You can taste the tragedy of that war. Many here are overwhelmed by pain and sorrow.”
“I hear you,” he whispered. “It’s different today. Now we the people take war for granted.” He frowned and sighed. “It’s become a business deal.”
Ann glanced round and shivered. The eerie feelings grew stronger as the light in the sanctuary began to fade. An odd kind of dusk prevailed.
Ann shook her head. “Our world seems too used to the tragedy of war.” People around her frowned in her direction; she grew quiet.
The organ player began the offertory. Young men in homespun dark suits holding woven baskets made their way up and down the aisles.
Ann looked at Adam. “Have you anything for the plate? Any small change not dated from the future?
Adam reached into his pockets and found a thin silver dime he’d picked up from the floor. He showed it to her.
She smiled and nodded. “Oh, for a decent lunch,” she whispered. “I’ll bet you’d like a burger and fries smothered in onions.”
Adam shifted on the hard bench. “I’ll never sneer at fast food again,” he mumbled. “What I could really go for would be one gigantic pizza.”
The strange light outside filtered through the windows. The church grew darker, an angry darkness, itself grieving, spreading that accumulated sorrow.
People stirred in their pews, nervous, even frightened. The plates were placed on the altar. The choir soldiered on. They were in the middle of Are Ye Able when all light vanished, pitching everyone into murky darkness.
“It’s the eclipse,” someone shouted,
Adam wondered if this was how the world might end.
“Ann,” He threw his arms around her. She clutched him. She had a momentarily glimpse of her home before total darkness descended and she felt faint, her head spinning.
Adam’s head spun too. He was enveloped in a thick, suffocating blackness. He shivered and closed his eyes.
Moments later his eyes blinked open. He was still embracing Ann, but on their own blue sofa in their own parlor. Scattered on the floor were the diagrams he had constructed from Dr. Dee’s calculations.
“We’re back,” he cried. “Thank God we’re back.”
“Yes,” she said softly and then burst into tears. “Oh, I’m so happy,” she sobbed, “so happy.”
Back in 1865 Parson Jeramiah rubbed his forehead. He felt slightly dizzy. He opened his eyes. He was sitting beside Mercy on a red velvet
loveseat, in a room he’d never seen before. A bright sun shone through the windows glowing on plants on tables next to the sofa. Mercy held a small potted plant given her in church that morning. She set it down and took his hand. She looked into his eyes and smiled lovingly. “It appears we’re in my home. I do hope you’ll find it comfortable.”
“This could well be heaven and you an angel,” he said. He felt healthy and strong. A new sense of vitality flowed in his heart. “I’m still not sure what the good Lord had in mind sending us into that future time.”
She took his hands in hers. “Although I’m glad we’re back here, I appreciate our experience. Perhaps we can be of more help to others now that we know the eventuality of what we have become as a people.”
He shook his head in near disbelief. “Seems to me that in those days the good Lord has taken a back seat.”
She smiled. “I wouldn’t worry about the Good Lord if I were you. He’s a smart one who knows exactly what is needed at any given time. He’s come a long way since he lost His son.”
Jeremiah smiled. “I suppose there’s nothing wrong with occasional permissiveness.” He shook his head and sighed. “And maybe church is a safe place for people to be to be themselves. In which case I’d say the church has come a long way.”
“Well that’s a good thing then, ” she smiled. “I want you to know I think of you as a fine and handsome man. If you will let me, I will do for you and your church all I can.”
Tears filled his eyes. “I am honored,” he said. “That excursion was certainly a grand adventure.” He embraced her and joy filled his heart.
A few days after their return, Adam and Ann attended a decorous dinner at the Dean’s home. Sherry was passed around in tiny glasses.
As they stood sipping and nibbling on the hors d’oervres, several colleagues joined Adam and Ann. One grinned. “You still working on going back in time?”
Adam smiled. To Ann’s surprise, he shook his head. “Been there, done that,” he smiled. “Very low tech.” He remembered the cold, the hauling of logs up the narrow cellar stairs, the mush. “I’ll stick with Flash Gordon, Firefly and Dr. Who–more realistic,” he grinned.
“You’re all doing a wonderful job,” the Dean told his graduate students. “I’m very proud of all of you. He turned to Adam and Ann. “I’ve had second thoughts about your projected time travel experiments. There could be something there. Let’s keep going and have another look.”
Adam coughed. Ann sighed. Neither had any desire to continue what had been so meaningful to them for so long.
But the Dean persisted. “From what I gather your Dr. John Dee was quite the entrepreneur for his day. My guess is there could be a multitude of product development if the right team could unlock the past.”
“No doubt,” Adam said.
“For sure,” Ann chimed in.
“We’ll talk more about it,” he said and turned away to speak with another graduate students.
Later that night and back in their cozy home Ann turned to Adam. “I’m so glad you’ve lost interest in going back. What convinced you?”
He poured them both a nightcap. “Among other things, I think hauling those logs up the cellar stairs. That kind of research no longer interests me. How about you?”
She shook her head, her face solemn. “The sorrow was so evident, The effects of war so horribly real. And the inconvenience of daily life compared to here. I missed electricity!”
“Me too. You don’t know how something will feel until you experience it.
They sipped their nightcaps. Ann broke the silence. “I was proud of us, though.” She said.
“How so”
“We managed,” she said, “and we made it through.” She put her arms around him. “Now let’s go sleep in our comfortable bed! I swear I’ll never complain about that or anything else in our lives today. (End)

Quality vs. Quantity
By Madisyn Taylor

It is not the quantity of time that matters, but the quality that you experience during each moment.

We live in an age of quantity. The media shapes us with the notion that larger, faster, and more are often synonymous with better. We are told that we need to find more time, more possessions, and more love to be truly happy. A smaller quantity of anything that is high in quality will almost always be more satisfying. A single piece of our favorite chocolate or a thin spread of freshly made preserves can satisfy us more than a full bucket of a product that we aren’t very fond of. Similarly, one fulfilling experience can eclipse many empty moments strung together. It is not the quantity of time that matters, but the quality that you experience during each moment. Every minute is an opportunity to love yourself and others, develop confidence and self-respect, and exhibit courage.

Ultimately, quality can make life sweeter. When you focus on quality, all your life experiences can be meaningful. A modest portion of good, healthy food can nourish and satisfy you on multiple levels and, when organically grown, nourish the earth as well. Likewise, a few hours of deep, restful slumber will leave you feeling more refreshed than a night’s worth of frequently interrupted sleep. A few minutes spent with a loved one catching up on the important details about family, work, or community can carry more meaning than two hours spent watching television together.

Often, in the pursuit of quantity we cheat ourselves of quality. Then again, quantity also plays a significant role in our lives. Certain elements, such as hugs, kisses, abundance, and love, are best had in copious amounts that are high in quality. But faced with the choice between a single, heartfelt grin and a lifetime of empty smiles, most would, no doubt, choose the former. Ultimately, it is not how much you live or have or do but what you make of each moment that counts.

Weekly Horoscopes Beginning Sunday, 17 November 2019

If you`re born within cusp period (16 to 26 of any month); you`re advised to read horoscopes of both signs covered by that period. You`re in the border; you may have influences from houses within those signs.

Outlines are longer versions; consists of every possible detail of everyday and based on three parts of each sign: 1st, 2nd & 3rd Decan; that is, any of three divisions of 10° within a sign of the zodiac. Even if you know or don`t know your Decan; I recommend, please read all three Decan.

Aries
Personal theme: I am!!
Fire & cardinal sign: March 21 — April 19

Your horoscope for this week:

Epigram: Hopefully, over the past month or so, while your ruler Mars was in the part of your chart that accents joint ventures, you realised you`d no choice but to discuss even the simplest of plans. While, initially, this was annoying, you`ve since come to trust others. This is good, because now that arrangements are becoming more complex, and often involve money, that trust is vital.

A commitment you took on with a partner isn`t turning out as you thought it would. You seem to have painted yourself into a corner. Now that you have agreed to something that`s hard to get out of you might wish you hadn`t been so impulsive. A private talk will help you get through to someone whose behaviour is starting to upset you. It will be easier to say what is on your mind when you don`t have a large audience.

The start of this week could be unsettling with you facing much unfinished business. Yet you could also be revved up and determined to move things forward. True, this is your natural style. As of Tuesday, and your ruling planet, Mars` entry into Scorpio, a powerful alliance could form. Yes, there will likely still be details that require considerable attention and yes, as Mercury arrives at its station on Thursday, you could experience moments of fury when it appears costs are not what you were initially led to believe. The fact is though that a long-drawn-out process is coming to its next stage and with that will come the freedom to explore new interests.

Taurus
Personal theme: I have!!
Earth & fixed sign: April 20 — May 20

Your horoscope for this week:

Epigram: If you`re on edge but, also, feeling the sense of urgency triggered by last Tuesday`s Taurus Full Moon, it`s no surprise. Either you were unaware of issues or, which is more likely, hoping they`d resolve themselves. They won`t; but, also, having waited a while to tackle these, everybody will be well informed, enough your efforts to brainstorm a solution are likely to be successful.

You want to get involved in a team effort because you feel this will help you work on your social skills. You`re a little more outgoing than usual and it will be fun getting out and about compared with spending time alone as you so often do. Friends and family are very supportive making this a good time to express your hopes for the future. Someone nearby could be in a position to grant you your wish.

There is considerable planetary activity in your opposite sign of Scorpio. The arrival of Mars in that area on Tuesday could coincide with someone arriving in your life determined that you do things their way. Given your need to do things your way, a collision seems more likely than not! Hold the thought that next weekend Mars opposes Uranus -presently travelling through your sign. Unless you were alive in the 1930s you have no experience of this energy. There is the possibility of you behaving like a bull in a china shop. Yet you could allow someone to make a clear error of judgement (so that you can complain later) and then have things done your way albeit most likely with the assistance of an army of experts next week. One way or another this week could find you fighting at some level.

Gemini
Personal theme: I think!!
Air sign: May 21 — June 20

Your horoscope for this week:

Epigram: It would be wonderful if, when your ruler Mercury`s retrograde cycle ended, as it will on Wednesday, suddenly issues vanished overnight. However, not only is that impossible, some of this week`s discussions will be so informative that you`ll be glad you didn`t rush into anything. What you learn now, and over the coming week, could lead to a complete rethink of both plans and your priorities.

Travel, study and new experiences will bring you the most pleasure. You need to feel you are channelling your restless energy into something meaningful. Be sure to check your holiday entitlement with your boss before booking a trip or this confusion could cause future problems. A relative who is stuck in their ways is not making life easy for you. Their stubborn behaviour makes it difficult to get started on new domestic arrangements.

It wouldn`t be so surprising if either health or administrative matters – or perhaps a combination of both -dominated your thinking this week. It may be that you`ve been burning the candle at both ends for too long and that your nervous system now requires a reboot. At the very least, it would be worthwhile having an annual check-up. At a quite different level, you may be asked to dig deep into archives. In fact, it could be argued that this would be the perfect time for studying. Research carried out this week will likely lead to extraordinary opportunities next. What might drive this is someone`s realisation that you understand the day-to-day running of a system far better than they do and that you have communication skills they lack.

Cancer
Personal theme: I feel!!
Water & cardinal sign: June 21 — July 22

Your horoscope for this week:

Epigram: Long ago you realised that while certain individuals deal with crises well, whether they`re personal or involve others, just as many focuses on their needs and, worse, view issues from a paranoid perspective. Happily, things begin to clear up this week. While those who`re selfish will be relatively relaxed, they, too, could experience seriously unsettling dramas. Your role? Be watchful and, occasionally, wary.

It`s virtually impossible to get on with what you want to do because everyone seems to expect such a lot from you. Don`t feel guilty because you feel some people are taking your kindness for granted. They may need reminding that you have a life of your own. A problem is made worse by the suspicious attitude of your partner. If they don`t trust you any more, it will be important to sit down with each other to find out exactly why.

With Mars` entry into the most creative area of your solar chart as of Tuesday, together with Mercury`s station in that same area on Thursday, it seems likely that others will want to tap into your considerable reserves and yes, ask your advice as to the best way forward. It may be that they are grappling with either health or scheduling issues or perhaps both and that they look to you for support and resolution. At some level, you might enjoy this. Yet it`s perhaps as likely that you will be dealing with complex feelings. (This could be a Scorpio or someone who`s been doing research and is still processing what they`ve found along the way). Work-wise, you are likely to be much in demand and possibly by two quite different teams; both of whom feel that their needs should take priority.

Leo
Personal theme: I will!!
Fire & fixed sign: July 23 — August 22

Your horoscope for this week:

Epigram: The past weeks haven`t been bad but, often, events or the people you`ve had to deal with have been annoying. The real problem is that changes you`d already decided you`d rather avoid are happening anyway. While, obviously, you`re tempted to battle these, at least explore them and the people involved. What you learn is likely to change your thinking, if not turn you into an enthusiast.

A money surprise will have you so excited it will be hard to concentrate on anything serious. A generous bonus or financial settlement is on the way. Use this money to finance a dream you have been keeping close to your heart. If you are typical of your sign you dislike other people telling you what to do. Try not to take exception to what an older relative suggests. They only want to help but if you take their words the wrong way, they will take umbrage.

Increased planetary activity at the very base of your solar chart suggests that once again property issues and asset management will dominate your waking hours. This is a storm that`s likely been brewing for some time. In fact, it could perhaps be traced back to the lunar eclipse in January 2018. Next weekend Mars opposes Uranus across the backbone of your solar chart. This could be the breakthrough you`ve been waiting for. Whether you`re choosing to divest of assets or investing in others, a turning point is coming. This will likely have major effect in your career. It may be that you determine a new goal and that armed with considerable experience and yes, support from those born under one of the Water signs of Cancer, Scorpio or Pisces, begin the process of its realisation.

Virgo
Personal theme: I analyse!!
Earth sign: August 23 — September 22

Your horoscope for this week:

Epigram: Since your ruler Mercury went retrograde on 31 October, you`ve dealt with all sorts of twists and turns, some annoying, others unexpectedly informative. While it resumes forward motion this Wednesday, things won`t return to normal overnight. Ironically, what you learn in the process of untangling those misunderstandings will be worth the effort required. Knowing that, regard even simple plans as a work in progress.

A new neighbour has a habit of boasting about their possessions, position or achievements. Refuse to join in their game. You will gain more respect if you refuse to disclose all the personal details of your life. An unexpected travel offer could lure you away from routine commitments. If you can arrange for someone to take over your duties for a short while, all well and good. If an impetuous move might leave someone in the lurch, think again.

A breakthrough is on the horizon. It might be as well to be prepared for a major turnaround. Three factors drive this. First of all, Mars changes signs on Tuesday. That event is followed by Mercury`s station at a key degree on Thursday. A few days later, next weekend, Mars opposes Uranus. This dynamic is new to most people on the planet. It last occurred in the 1930s. There`s high probability of people changing direction and quite sharply. Feelings are likely to run high. This though could be the moment when you really come into your own. Those who`ve done inadequate research or preparation for emergency planning will no doubt come unstuck. It could easily fall to those born under Virgo to ensure smooth running in altered circumstances. Don`t be at all surprised if your profile is much enhanced by next weekend and that you`re left with much to be excited about and yes, that might include a career opportunity.

Libra
Personal theme: I balance!!
Air & cardinal sign: September 23 — October 22

Your horoscope for this week:

Epigram: If it seems like changes are being organised and decisions made, but without asking you and, often, behind the scenes, you`re right. This is worrying, mostly because you`ve no idea what`s next. Judging by the powerful link between your ruler Venus and fortunate Jupiter, on the 24th, whatever is done, decided or, perhaps, offers that arise around then won`t just be appealing, you`ll be absolutely thrilled..

You`re starting to appreciate a housemate for the tasks they have always performed. Domestic affairs will take up more time than you expected.. Home projects may also be the subject of some expenditure so don`t be surprised to have to fork out unexpectedly. Someone is relying heavily on you. Whether it is a financial matter that`s causing a problem or a neighbourhood issue, people value your opinion. It isn`t surprising when they ask for your advice.

Prepare to move up a gear. It will be best if you do this as a united front i.e. in partnership; and that is probable given Mars` move into Scorpio on Tuesday. This ingress is followed by Mercury`s station on Thursday. Between the two events, someone whom you may feel has been pulling against you could not exactly switch sides, but adjust the tension between you so that you then move forward together with ease. It`s just possible that there will be something to celebrate. Yes, you might also need to deal with a crisis. However, you`ve experienced so many in the last decade that to some extent you might not be as fazed as you might once have been. True, your scales will no doubt be shaken and you will likely need support. Career wise though, it appears that you are moving into a different place altogether and that that could bring with it the potential to improve your world considerably in 2020 – perhaps by working from home?

Scorpio & Ophiuchus
Personal theme: I desire!!
Water & fixed signs: October 23 — November 21

Your horoscope for this week:

Epigram: In early October the fiery Mars moved into to the most strategic portion of your chart, forcing you to rethink a range of plans. Initially, this was annoying but you`ve actually learnt a lot. Consequently, you`ll be well prepared for the new cycle that begins when Mars moves into Scorpio this Wednesday. Within a surprisingly short time you`ll be standing your ground over once-uncertain plans or ideas.

A group effort seems to be going nowhere but don`t give in yet. Hang on in there. Once you get over the stumbling block now facing you it will be easier to achieve your goal. Friends who have been busy are more available now. They`re as keen as you are to enjoy some light-hearted entertainment. Any earlier lack of enthusiasm was due to outside commitments they couldn`t get out of. The week ends on a happier and more hopeful note.

Mars arrives in your sign on Tuesday. That event is followed by Mercury`s station in Scorpio on Thursday. With so much planetary attention to your sign it would be unsurprising if you were in the spotlight. Yet it`s perhaps wise to recall the Uranus is presently moving through your opposite sign. It could be that you are taken by surprise by developments in other people`s lives. It`s perhaps not so much the case that they are switching sides, but that they`re having to alter their perspective in the light of fresh challenge. You may already be aware that there will be an extra ordinary of alignment of planets in Capricorn in January. The overture to this event began back in 2016 but now we`re on the edge of the curtain being raised on this drama. Your particular gift at charming others, listening to their difficulties and yes, giving them the confidence to face fears, will likely be remarked upon and guarantee you a place on a team.

Sagittarius
Personal theme: I see!!
Fire sign: November 22 — December 21

Your horoscope for this week:

Epigram: Because you think and act swiftly, you`ve always regarded planning ahead as a waste of time; and, because others are far more painstaking, you`ve had endless disputes about the right way to organise arrangements. However, with the Sagittarius New Moon, on the 26th, triggering powerful changes in both circumstances and your own perspective, the more flexible your thinking about plans, for now and the future, the better.

You`re whizzing around all over the place trying to squeeze as much as you can into your days. You can`t seem to stop for more than a few seconds before remembering something else that needs doing. Friends will have to get used to seeing you as nothing but a blur. It is time to work out your priorities. What satisfaction is there in constantly flitting from project to project without finishing anything? Get your act together as you need to be a lot more organised.

By the end of this week, Venus will have aligned with Jupiter in your sign. This aspect won`t recur for more than a decade; and yes, you may feel the need to celebrate. Yet this event coincides with the opposition of Mars to Uranus. The unexpected is more likely than not; and yes, your world could be shaken. Note however, that Mercury comes to its direct station on Thursday and that it`s entirely possible that though you`re given facts based on recent research that your instincts suggest to you that these are still not quite right. Your gut instinct will likely be stronger than any statistical evidence. A further very strong possibility given Mars` move into neighbouring Scorpio, is that you will decide to alter your daily regime. This may have something to do with diet (food or information) and what you now view as beneficial. Boosting your brainpower could be high on your agenda and linked to a test to be undertaken early next month.

Capricorn
Personal theme: I use!!
Earth & cardinal sign: December 22 — January 19

Your horoscope for this week:

Epigram: Every sign is influenced by Mercury`s retrograde cycle, which ends on Wednesday. However, because it`s accented discussions with friends, colleagues and family, you`ve faced a range of tedious mix-ups. Now, as these are untangled, you`ll learn a lot, both about the facts of the matters in question but, as much, about others. For the moment, stick to those discussions. Decisions can and should wait.

You are desperate to get on and get a job finished but everything seems to have slowed to a standstill. People around you are in no rush to get anything done. Circumstances will force you to work at a slower pace than desired. All you can do is be patient. Financial matters are best carried out in secret. Some friends seem happy to hang their dirty washing on the line but you would prefer to keep your personal business, private.

It might seem that others are going back on their word, or using analyses that out of date. Fact is that Mars` Scorpio ingress coupled with Mercury`s direct station on Thursday, suggests a change of pace. For many, clinging on to old ideas might seem preferable to moving forward. Yet those old ideas – including discoveries made in the last fortnight may not be as secure or useful as had been hoped. It could be for you to point out the flaws in arguments and to make others aware of the costs of continuing to work in a particular way. Though it might be suggested that there is indeed something to celebrate before the weekend, it`s probable you`ll be all too aware that others are jumping the gun and that much more needs to be done. In partnering – most likely with someone born under Virgo or Pisces – or with a track record for efficiency and maintaining an eye on detail, you could yet pull the proverbial rabbit from the hat.

Aquarius
Personal theme: I know!!
Air & fixed sign: January 20 — February 18

Your horoscope for this week:

Epigram: Although nobody would describe you as stubborn, once you`ve made a plan or decision, you`ll stick to it, despite changes in circumstances or the demands of others. However, judging by powerful planetary activity between now and the end of November, even the simplest of arrangements are unlikely to remain as they were first organised. Knowing that, stand back and let them unfold. You`ll be glad you did.

News from an older relative may overshadow social events you had been looking forward to. Suddenly your mind is on family matters and conditions, in general, seem to be rather tense. Friends don`t seem to want to hear what`s on your mind so keep your thoughts to yourself. In contentious situations, a gentle response helps ease the tension. Sometimes it pays to just keep your mouth shut. It`s hard to hold on to your patience but it can be done.

There is considerable planetary attention to one of the career points of your solar chart. Mars` arrival here, coupled with Mercury`s station at a very tender degree on Thursday suggests significant career development. Yes, for some this might include a parting of the ways. Others may be shocked to discover that developments have been taking place behind the scenes and only now made public. A war of words is entirely possible. Yet Aquarius has a reputation for moving things forward. It might be that however painful issues are, that these give you an opportunity to develop an area in which you`ve long held interest but perhaps needed the push before getting further involved. It could be argued that either through chatting things through with a friend or better still, undertaking some career counselling, would prove a wise investment of your time.

Pisces
Personal theme: I believe!!
Water sign: February 19 — March 20

Your horoscope for this week:

Epigram: You`ve long sensed that even simple plans are likely to change, suddenly and for the better. This cycle begins now and climaxes with the amazing, and mostly unexpected, events that arise during November`s last ten days. Others may laugh. Meanwhile, make a point of ensuring whatever you organise is flexible, and you`ll not only welcome those thrilling developments, you`ll be ready to embrace them.

This will be a testing time when projects you are working on will seem to fall apart around you. People are growing irritable and impatient and this increases your desire to retreat from the world. Plans that have gone pear shaped will need further thought in order to solve the problem.. A friend`s outlandish behaviour makes you see a side to them you hadn`t realised was there. You are normally sensitive and intuitive but you hadn`t picked up on how rebellious they could be.

There is very significant planetary attention in another of the Water signs. Mars` entry into Scorpio is followed by Mercury`s station in that sign. A good image for this would be someone stirring a puddle of water. There comes a point where silt has to come to the surface. Unpleasant as this may be, you could then see ways of removing that silt and bringing clarity back to a situation. In fact, that may be your role. Within every Pisces, there is a core of your opposite sign of Virgo. Though Pisces generally gets a bad press for being apparently uncoordinated and at times forgetful, it is also true that you could be super-efficient, hold a long-term vision and make excellent presentation. The alignment of Venus and Jupiter at the very apex of your solar chart next weekend coupled with another major aspect, suggests you could astound others by removing that `silt` and showing clear genius.
