Light A Candle Today!
In many different traditions lighting a candle is a sacred action. It expresses more than words can express. It has to do with gratefulness. From time immemorial, people have lit candles in sacred places. You may want to begin or end your day by the sacred ritual of lighting a candle on this gratefulness. Or you may want to light a birthday candle for a friend. One single guideline is all you need: Slow down and do it with full attention.

Full Cold Moon Dec. 12, 2019 in Gemini
by Cherokee Billie

The last Full moon of the year occurs on December 12, 2019, and is in the sign of Gemini. This is also the last Full Moon of the decade! 2020 is going to be full of changes in our lives. We’re going to find new ways of doing things. December brings the perfect balance of energies to prepare us for what is to come. December’s Cold Moon is a good time to evaluate the ordeals and trials in our lives.

The Geminid meteor shower will peak on the evening of Dec. 13-14. It is the best meteor shower of the year; it can bring up to 120 meteors per hour. This year, though, a full moon will contest the shower and could wash out the fainter meteors. No matter what enjoy this gift from the universe.

This Full Moon falling in Gemini gives us so many alternate ways to approach the end of the year and closing out this decade. People can often become emotional at this time of year and if you do realize it’s just the rhythm of nature. Do not be concerned. Let the light of The Creator into your heart and you will find the spark of joy once more.

This Cold Moon is asking us to slow down. Try not to be caught up in the rush of the holidays and ending of the year. This is a time to go within and see what your true spiritual self is asking of you. It may be quite simple and not as complexed as the energies of the world.

The rhythm of nature is calling for us to be content within ourselves. You do not need to hide under the blankets, unless you choose to. Allow yourself to just be whoever you are and not follow the dictates of society.

If you are going through great trials and tribulations, they will be coming to an end within the next 30 days. Ask for what you need and expect it to be return to you. Keep your faith strong so you can embrace whatever comes your way on this full Moon!

Here we are in the last month of the year and what a year it has been! A lot of changes have already occurred in many ways, now it’s the full rotation of change coming to its completion.

During this Full Moon and throughout the month, call upon Archangel Raphael. He is here to help you through this time and to heal away your fears, worries, and concerns. Archangel Raphael, whose name means, “God Heals”, is here to shower you with his green light energy of abundance, healing and movement.

Healing comes in many forms. Whether physical, energetic, or spiritual, Raphael helps you on all levels. During this month call upon him to guide you with visions, signs, and messages and make sure to pay close attention to your surroundings after you ask. These signs will come in different forms such as songs, words in a passing conversation, and those unexpected things that pop up out of the blue. Dreams are also good ways to receive these things so please do your best to recall your dreams. A simple way is to keep a pad of paper with pen or record from your cell phone, have these next to your bed, and upon waking from your dream, take note of keys parts of the dream that will help you recall the full dream later. Upon deciphering your dream, you will see the message unfold. If you don’t know how to do this, seek out a person who does dream interpretation, like ME, to help you uncover the messages within your dreams.

With this Full Moon it’s a shift of energy and conscious comprehension. Time for old ways to float away and for the veil to be lifted. It’s time to allow what was once thought to be so unbelievable, to be believable! Allow yourself to entertain ideas that you normally would not. Be optimistic and move with the momentum that is already there. Archangel Raphael will help bring forth what it is you need to address and let go and will also guide you to the learning that you need, helping you become more understanding.

The Moon is very feminine; it’s all about our feelings being expressed and verbalized. Your head may feel a little busy and our sub-conscious is out on the full show. What was hidden is now revealed and you will need to deal with it! We will all react differently to this.
In Native American cultures which tracked the calendar by the Moons, December’s Full Moon was known as the Full Cold Moon. It is fittingly associated with the month when winter cold fastens its grip and the nights become long and dark. Another name for this full Moon is Long Night Moon which is a doubly appropriate name because the midwinter night is indeed long, and because the Moon is above the horizon for a long time. Other names for The December Full Moon are Oak Moon, Winter Moon, and Wolf Moon. This is the time of the Dark Lord, with the Oak being his symbol. It is the time of rebirth.

The term Long Night Moon is a doubly appropriate name because the midwinter night is indeed long, and because the Moon is above the horizon for a long time. The midwinter full Moon has a high trajectory across the sky because it is opposite a low Sun.

The week of the Full Moon is filled with blessings from The Divine. So take some time to stop in the midst of the chaos of the holidays and appreciate all of the spiritual blessings that are coming to us at this time.
o The Full Moon Is A Good Time To Set Your Intentions For The Next Year.

o Think about what it is you really would like to accomplish in the next twelve months.

o Write it out in a journal and update it throughout the year.
o Make a vision board so you have a visual of what it is you want to achieve.
o Take time to thank The Creator, all that is Divine and your Ancestors for another year and decade.
Elements for the Cold Moon
o Nature Spirits: Snow Faeries, Storm Faeries, Winter Tree Faeries
o Herbs: Holly, English Ivy, Fir, and Mistletoe
o Colors: Red, White and Black
o Flowers: Holly, Poinsettia, Christmas Cactus
o Scents: Violet, Patchouli, Rose Geranium, Frankincense, Myrrh, Lilac
o Stones: Serpentine, Jacinth, Peridot
o Trees: Pine, Fir, Holly
o Animals: Mouse, Deer, Horse, Bear
o Birds: Rook, Robin, Snowy Owl

Clean and shine the diamond of your soul and let that light shine before everyone, so that people wonder as you pass by-what it was that just touched their soul.
This is a wonderful time of year and definitely the time to send out your dreams to the universe. By doing this you will see the growth of what you have put out come springtime.

I wish all of my followers a happy holiday season, whether you celebrate one of the many festivals at this time of year or whether you are simply caught up in the cultural current of it all. Enjoy the cavalcade of lights. Let some of that peace and joy rub off on you. Find a corner of it all where you can contemplate, appreciate and illuminate your precious place in the Universe.

The Full Moon is an amazing time to receive a clairvoyant spiritual reading. It’s a great time to check in and see how things are going. This Spiritual reading is a great general reading to assess how your life is currently going and where you are on your path.

Llewellyn’s Spell of the Day

Magic Box
December 08, 2019 by Elizabeth Barrette

Magic is the flux and flow of Paganism. It raises energy in rituals and charges spells. It’s always nice to have a little extra. Today, work a spell to attract more magic into your life.

First, you need a pretty box. Wood or stone work well for natural magic, glass for technomagic, and metal for both. Avoid insulating materials, such as silk or plastic.

Next, take a square of paper and draw arrows from each corner so they meet in the center. Place this in the bottom of the box for attraction.

Now add symbols of magic. Good stones include amber, carnelian, garnet, hawk’s eye, lapis, and selenite. Choose herbs such as allspice, bergamot, cardamom pods, whole cloves, dragon’s blood, frangipani, lemon peel, patchouli, or star anise. Also add any images that represent magic for you.

Visualize power flowing into the box. Close it and keep it on your altar.

Sabago Rite
December 07, 2019 by Stephanie Rose Bird

Sabago is the Spanish word for Saturday, which is today. It is derived from sabbath, or day of rest. Generally we keep busy as Witches. Today, I invite you to experience pure, unadulterated rest for the entire day. Begin your day like this:

Clear your calendar. Reschedule appointments if you must.

Grab your favorite CD or tune in to your most peaceful playlist.

Light blue candles (for peace and relaxation) in the bathroom. Drop some pink rose petals and rose oil into the tub. Undress and relax.

Spend the rest of the day unwinding. Do not make plans and limit any conversation.

This day is for you to heal, replenish, and nurture your soul.

Speak Up Incantation
December 06, 2019 by Dallas Jennifer Cobb

In 1989 in Montreal, Quebec, fourteen young women were murdered simply because they were women. The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence was instituted across Canada in 1991 to remember the victims and to take action against gender-based violence. Because gender-based violence is woven intrinsically into our culture, and widely represented in popular media, we often encounter it and feel silenced and slighted. Today, let’s claim the right to live free of violence.
Speak up.

Place your fingertips on your throat, and empower yourself:

I use my voice and speak out clearly,
I defend the rights that I hold dearly,
I speak up and take a stand,
For freedom from violence throughout the land.
I speak my truth from deep within me,
Because silence equals complicity.
Silence equals complicity.

Practice the skill of calmly speaking truth to “power.” All women deserve to live safe and free.

Cast Away the Darkness
December 05, 2019 by Najah Lightfoot

At this time of year, many people don hats and coats, while others are snow-birding, heading to places where blue skies and azure oceans rule the day. Some revel in the dark days and nights of winter, while others can’t wait to escape the snow and cold.

If winter brings on seasonal affective disorder, otherwise known as SAD, and your pocketbook won’t support a vacation, you can easily bring the light of the sun into your life with a daylight bulb.

A daylight bulb is different from an ordinary light bulb. A daylight bulb emits a frequency of light that is close to that of natural light on a sunny day. Bring in the light of the sun with this little incantation:

The power of the sun shines
strong and bright,
Its magick contained
within the daylight.
This little bulb brings the light to me,
Effortlessly and continuously!

Pet Blessing Spell
December 04, 2019 by Deborah Blake

For those of us who share our lives and homes with animals, they are often more than merely pets. My cats are friends, family, and love personified (not to mention one familiar). Here is a blessing for your beloved furbabies:

Bast and Hecate, Horned God too,
Bless the animals of this house.
Keep them safe and healthy,
Calm and happy,
And out of trouble, please,
For they are your creatures and
the treasures of my heart.
Bless these animals.
So mote it be.

Abundant Food Spell
December 03, 2019 by Melanie Marquis

Use this spell to help ensure that your food stores never run out. Prepare several large jars or canisters full of dried beans, coffee, pastas, or grains. Place a clean, clear quartz crystal and a piece of jade in each container. Be sure the stones are natural and not lab-created, as they have more power when formed over time in nature. Inscribe the lid of each container with a plus symbol or a multiplication sign. Whenever you take something out of one of the jars, imagine that jar refilling itself. Add more to your stores frequently, as soon and as often as you are able.

Quiet Ties
December 02, 2019 by Elizabeth Barrette

During the holidays, everything cranks up to a higher intensity. For extroverts, this is a ton of fun, but for introverts, not so much. Some people with special needs also feel pressured. That can slop a lot of unpleasant energy over your personal space. Happily, you can help keep the holidays fun for your friends and family.

First, encourage people to leave their crud at the door. In mundane space, use a doormat and a “Please wipe your feet” sign; clean the mat frequently. In Pagan space, you can put a smudge stick and/or feather fan at the door.

Provide a tranquil space for people to get away from the ruckus during large rituals, parties, or other events. A spare room or out-of-the-way corner will do. Offer quiet activities such as magazines, a basket of fidgets, Tarot cards, board games, puzzles, etc.

Encourage people to relax and blow off negative vibes. It helps.

5 Essential Magical Practices
November 22, 2019 by Gwion Raven

There are hundreds of ways to practice magic. I’m sure you have your favourites. I know I have mine. Over the years, and over many fine glasses of wine, I’ve chatted with all manner of Witches and Pagans and Druids about what makes magic happen for them. While the style and substance may vary, these five essential magical practices appear on everyone’s list.

Magical Practice #1: Use What You Have

I’d love to practice magick in the gardens of an 800 year old manor estate somewhere in the Cotswolds. All my Pagan friends would come for the weekend. We’d wile the day away discussing arcane magical lore, indulge in a veritable feast for the senses, gather in the rose garden under a full moon, make magic until the wee hours, and retire to our plush four-poster beds. Um…Unlikely to happen any time soon. Until then, I’ll practice in the living room, the local park, or in the ritual room my coven meets in.

Practicing magic doesn’t require the perfect location or the most expensive robes or the coolest tools. Don’t get me wrong, I love the tools I’ve collected, bought, borrowed, or been gifted over the years. They certainly get me in the mood to do magic, but I can do magic without them. In fact, most folk magic systems use every day items like candles and pins and sharpies and socks and old mason jars.
Not Where I practice Magic. Oh! But wouldn’t it be lovely.

Magical Practice #2: Spend An Hour In Devotion

If part of your magic includes working with deities, set aside an hour, and be in devotion to them. Working with gods not your thing? Spend an hour devoted to your ancestors, or to your partner(s), or to tending your altar, or even yourself. Make devotion a priority. And that hour could be one sixty minute time slot or you might consider spending 8.57 minutes per day (that’s an hour a week, broken down by day) in devotional practice. The key thing to remember is that devoting time to someone/something is all about them. You’re not looking for a reward or even reciprocation. Devotion is a gift you give with no expectation.

Magical Practice #3: Actually Do Magic

Folks new to the Craft are always doing spells, gathering herbs, making charm bags, anything they can do or make that connects them to magic. After a few years of practice, it’s not uncommon to forget to do magic. Or perhaps, to put it kindly, we get a little lazy. Instead of checking correspondences, erecting altars, or researching spells, we just sort of say “So mote it be” and have done with it. The best part of magic is actually doing magic. I highly recommend having some sort of spell going all the time and actively working with it. Light the green candle on your money altar. Feed your charm bag. Cut pictures out of magazines of the places you want to go. Mix herbs and oils aligned with travel into the glue and paste everything onto construction paper. Whatever you do, actually do it.
Part of a spell I’ve been working for years

Magical Practice #4: Talk About Magic

At least once a day, I talk about magic. Now, to be sure, it’s pretty easy for me. I write about magic. I own a metaphysical shop. My Partner is a witch. Many of my friends are somehow connected to various Pagan communities. If that’s not the reality for you, make it a practice to talk with someone, as regularly as you can, about magic. In person is great, and online works too. There are any number of places to chat about magic. Talking about magic could look like sharing a spell with someone or recounting a mystical experience or discussing that cool new kitchen witchery cookbook you just discovered. Whatever it is, make magic a regular part of your life. Notice I said “regular” part of your life, not “make magic an all consuming passion and bring up magic in every interaction you have with any human being ever”.

Magical Practice #5: Learn How To Ground

This is a big one. You’d be surprised how many Pagan folk don’t know how to do this magical practice. Basically, grounding means bringing yourself to the present moment. Ever have someone rush up to you after a ritual, they get right in your face, they bounce all over the place, and tell you all about their profound experiences with the Goddess, without ever realizing they’re standing on your foot? Yep. That person, needs to ground. Grounding is a pretty simple practice. It can look a lot like breathing. Grounding might be about meditation for you. Lots of folks close their eyes when they ground, but I recommend keeping them open and staying connected to your environment and whomever you’re sharing it with. I can’t tell you how many teachers, high priestesses, magical presenters, and workshop leaders I’ve talked to that swear by their regular, daily, grounding practice.

There you have it folks. Five essential magical practices you can start right now (or restart or continue doing).

Heartwings Love Notes 909: How You Say It Matters

“Heartwings says, “Not what you say but how you say it determines the outcome.”

All over the country friends and families will gather for the holidays. It is nice to see people that we don’t often spend time with, and it is also a treat to renew acquaintance or even form new bonds with seldom seen relatives. Good moods and happy smiles are the norm; however, perhaps there will also be reactions from people who have not seen each other recently or even for quite a while. People may have gained or lost weight, hair, or height. They might be better or worse off. Invariably, these things may provoke comments. Older people, especially may be vocal in their observations.

When I was growing up, I was always tall for my age. I remember being told more than once that someone ought to put a flatiron on my head so I didn’t get any taller. To this day I wonder, as I did then why it was bad to get any taller. Most relatives as well as friends comment on children’s height or physical appearance when they see them after an interval. This can be embarrassing for a child that is at all self-conscious. Comments to other adults can be tactless as well. “Have you lost weight? You look so much better.” Stop and think how that reflects on someone’s prior appearance.

There is a teaching tale that comes to mind when I consider this subject: It seems there was once an emperor who wished to know how long he might live. He called all his wise men together-today we might call them his councilors, and asked them his burning question. They shook their heads and murmured amongst themselves. How could they tell? Finally, after much discussion they appointed one of them to give him an answer. “Your majesty,” he began. “You will live a very long life.” The emperor smiled. “So long,” the man went on. “that everyone you love will die before you.”

The emperor’s smile changed to a thunderous frown. “Take him away,” he shouted, “and cut of his head.” The other wise men quailed and murmured amongst themselves. Finally, they appointed another to speak up. He bowed low and said: “You will live a long life, your Majesty. So long that you will outlive all of your friends and relations.”
The emperor smiled broadly and waved his hand. “Reward that man with a bag of gold,” he said. Notice that both men gave the emperor the same information. One of them, however said it a better way.

Here is another appropriate story. A beloved woman who was popular with everyone that knew her was asked the secret of her popularity. “I don’t rightly know about that,” she said, “but what I can tell you is I always try to taste my words before I speak them to make sure they taste sweet.” That is good advice, and I try to follow it. In the days when I was somewhat clueless about my speech, I remember being told I had been rude or even ill spoken. I had to learn to be tactful, and it was not easy. I have had plenty of foot-in-mouth experiences in my life; it’s embarrassing. There is enough sorrow and anguish in this world; kind words and pleasant smiles are always welcome. My grandmother used to say, “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all. I would substitute “kind” for “nice.”

May your holiday gatherings be fun and enjoyable, filled with smiles and happiness.

Blessings and Best regards, Tasha Halpert <tashahal@gmail.com>

Gift Giveaway
By Madisyn Taylor

Be generous with your inner gifts, they will be well-received.

When the holidays come around, most of us join the masses in shopping for gifts, wrapping them, and giving them away. Once we are in the mindset that this is what we are going to do, we don’t hold back or struggle with the process. We simply give the presents we have acquired, letting them go in the awareness that they were never ours anyway. If we could apply some of this unquestioning generosity with our own inner resources and gifts, we might be able to give of ourselves more freely.

In truth, our gifts only make sense when we give them away. Imagine carefully procured and wrapped presents that remain in the house of the giver, never getting to the people who were meant to have them. If we hold back, not knowing quite when to share our gifts, we all lose. Ironically, the more we give of ourselves, the more we have to offer. For example, if we have a talent for singing but we hold it back, we sing less and have less experience. On the other hand, if we offer the gift of our voice to the world at every opportunity, our talent develops and becomes still greater, and we have that much more to give.

How we present our gifts can be likened to wrapping paper and ribbons. When we truly value what we have to offer, our presentation honors what lies inside it. We speak well of our talents and introduce them with confidence and panache. Like a performer who chooses carefully what to wear and how to set the stage, we provide an environment that complements and enhances what we have to offer. Far from being superficial, a beautiful presentation is as much a part of the energy of gift giving as the gift itself. All these things together–the gift, the presentation, and the giving away–make up the joyful experience of bestowing our offerings upon the world.

Enhancing Your Immune System With Honey, Lemon, Ginger Syrup
by Tess Pennington

Before your immune system is rundown by the flu virus, start taking this natural concoction of honey, lemon and ginger. Taken daily or when you are feeling ill, this syrup will be your best friend during those cold winter months when the virus are at their most active.

Flu and cold season are just around the corner. Before your immune system is rundown by the flu virus, start boosting your immune system with natural medicine. By doing so, you are fighting off the infection before it overtakes your body, thus, significantly reducing being prone to colds and flus. I am a firm believer in using natural means to prevent ailments and boost your immunity. Health experts suggest maintaining your immune system by: eating a balanced diet, drinking lots of water, getting enough sleep, exercising, and washing hands frequently. While I agree with the experts, I also believe there are natural remedies you can take before an illness weakens your immune system. Taking a daily teaspoon of a concoction made from lemon, ginger and honey is an effective way to provide preventive medicine to your body and boost your health in the process. In fact, the health benefits of these ingredients for treating respiratory problems are unmatched.

Natural Ingredients That Pack a Punch!

Lemon: This citrus fruit is high in vitamin C and reduced inflammation and swelling, and reduce mucus production. As well, lemons have antioxidant properties which are vital to a strong immune system. Lemons also neutralize the activity of free radicals in the body.

Ginger: This medicinal root is helpful for settling upset stomachs, dizziness, nausea, vomiting and cold sweating. Promotes a healthy sweating that aids in the detoxification of the body, which is often helpful when you have a cold or flu.

Honey: This is one of the best ways to soothe coughs and sore throats. Honey acts as a medium for transmitting the benefits of herbs such as ginger to the body. Honey may also boost the body’s immune system by aiding in the production of white blood cells. This improves the body’s ability to fight infection and decreases the risk of fevers. Honey also assists in drawing out the citrus juice. Pay attention to the type of honey you purchase for this. Since most honey contains corn syrup, ensure that you use only the purest form of honey. Raw honey or manuka honey are the best choice and have the most medicinal benefits.

Additional herbs: Herbs such as garlic, turmeric, thyme, cayenne pepper, cinnamon, mint, cardamom, etc., can only enhance the healing properties of this syrup, if added. Fresh organic herbs are preferred as you will receive more natural medicine. 2-3 sprigs of herbs is ideal. If you only have dried herbs, use 1 teaspoon in the syrup to start. If you prefer more flavor, add another 1/2 teaspoon to the next batch.

Lemon, Honey, and Ginger Cough Syrup

2-8 ounce Mason jars
2 to 3 lemons, sliced
3 tablespoons fresh ginger, peeled and coarsely chopped
Honey

Wash lemons and cut into slices or wedges. Remove seeds and pack the wedges in a clean, dry jar.
Peel and cut ginger root. Add 1 1/2 tablespoons into the jar with the lemon wedges.
Fill the jar with honey.
Close the jar and let stand for at least 24 hours before using.
Store in refrigerator or dark, cool pantry for up to 2 months.

How to use these syrups:

Swallow a spoonful or two of honey syrup to soothe a cough or sore throat. Stir a heaping tablespoon (or more to taste) into a cup of hot water. Stir a heaping tablespoon (or more to taste) into a cup of hot tea. When the mixture is ready, it will become a thin syrup that can easily be spooned out. Taken daily or when you are feeling ill, this syrup will be your best friend to boost your immune system during those cold winter months when the virus are at their most active.

Mistletoe: The Christmas Herb
by Susan Wittig Albert

At Thyme and Seasons, I buy mistletoe from a local supplier and Laurel and I package it in plastic bags tied with festive holiday ribbons. During the Christmas season, we process hundreds of mail and telephone and email orders for the herb, which grows in basketball-sized clumps on the hackberry and pecan trees in the wooded hills to the west of Pecan Springs. Once you’ve seen those fresh yellow-green leaves and translucent berries, glowing like huge pearls, you can understand why our mistletoe is so popular.—Mistletoe Man: A China Bayles Mystery

North American mistletoe (Phoradendron tomentosum) does not belong to the same genus as the European mistletoe (Viscum album). But the legends and lore of the European plant long ago made their way to America and got connected to our mistletoe. One thing all mistletoes have in common, however: they are all hemiparasitic. That is, they get part of their nutrients from their host plant, as well as manufacturing their own.

Mistletoe seeds are sticky and are easily transferred, by birds, to the tree on which the plants will spend their lives. Because this process was largely invisible, ancient people thought the plant itself was magical. Here’s some fascinating mistletoe lore I gathered when I was doing research for the China Bayles mystery, Mistletoe Man:

In Britain, mistletoe was hung from the rafters of homes to protect against fire and lightning.

In Wales, mistletoe gathered on Midsummer Eve was placed under the pillow at Yule-tide to induce prophetic dreams.

In northern Europe, mistletoe was thought to act as a master key that would open any lock.

Swedish farmers hung mistletoe in the horse’s stall and the cow’s crib, to protect against evil trolls. They also used the large twigs as divining rods.

Everywhere, people enjoy kissing under the mistletoe

Talking Turkey: A Post Thanksgiving Salute
by Stephen Halpert

Driving around Grafton these days you may see a wild turkey or even a flock of them on the road ahead. They seem to enjoy the woods and occasionally the yards of nearby homes. Years ago, while still living in a house we acquired the affection of a turkey that liked perching on the railing of our front steps. We thought this was fun until it began pooping on the steps making passage to and from the house somewhat hazardous to the shoes. This turkey was quite persistent, and it was her arrival that sparked the basis for this story.
In real life it was difficult to discourage our feathered friend. Despite our not feeding her she insisted on staying. We tried shooing her away. Still no luck. Finally, we persuaded a knowledgeable friend to come and give us a hand. By laying out a line of grain she lured the bird into an open plastic garbage bag trap. She scooped the bag up, tied it shut and carried the squawking bird laden bag off to be opened far from our front door. We never saw the turkey again, and I hope she found a flock to cohabit with somewhere.
During those nippy nights at Valley Forge during the throes of our Revolution Benjamin Franklin did his best to proclaim the wild turkey as our national bird. The hawkish majority however favored the golden eagle and roasted his effort.
Over time it seems that animal husbandry has consistently proven that the wild turkey stands higher on the intelligence quota than most other feathered friends except perhaps for the gray parrot or the homing pigeon.
Today wild turkeys are recognized as astute and brilliant in most urban intellectual circles. Some compose verse and melody; others finger paint, while a small minority prefer to sit in meditation.
On my way to the mailbox with these thoughts in mind I stopped to converse with a wild turkey that has been living throughout our neighborhood. Fortunately, I remembered that in his famous book Kinship with All Life J. Allen Boone emphasized that when it comes to human-creature communications visualized images are more effective than the spoken word.
Our eyes met and slowly I envisioned the wild turkey sitting on our front stoop. Much to my surprise followed by a series of hesitant clucks she rose and did so. Pleased that we had achieved such clarity so quickly I then asked if she were traveling alone or as part of the larger flock. Rapidly she stamped her feet and bobbed her head back and forth. This behavior indicated to me that she might well have been a woman wronged or worse banished from her flock for whatever reason.
I then asked if she enjoyed flight. Instead of gracefully waving her feathers, she pulled them tight against her body. Her body language indicated that flight was not her fancy. Our rapport absolutely amazed me. She was able to pick right up on my thoughts. Her head bobbed happily back and forth. She clucked gaily, doubtlessly glad at least for now to be in harmony with a kindred soul who did not see her as a part of an eventual Thanksgiving or Holiday feast.
I wondered if she knew how to play chess, but again her tail feathers receded and her body indicated a no, but that was quickly followed with a strong desire out of the blue on my part to play ticktacktoe, a game I had not thought of since my boyhood. I envisioned the boxes and saw that she immediately placed an x in the middle square, a strong hint that she was adroit at this childhood game. We continued to play and she defeated me six out of seven times.
That’s when I decided to push the envelope and delve into her possible worldview. I envisioned a Bridge deck and sought her thoughts on present day America. Abruptly she jumped up and in no uncertain terms thrashed her beak into the nearest flowerbed.
Why do that I wondered? She thrashed and thrashed until I finally got it. “No Trump,” I said aloud and focused my concentration on the President. After a moment she bobbed her head up and down, gave a long series of furious clucks and then flung herself onto the lawn whereby she proceeded to give her best imitation of a lame duck desperate to crawl into the shade.
You’re wonderful, I thought as I sensed her perspicacity. An image of her sitting on our couch across from our TV as we watched PBS came into my mind. But despite her willingness to be invited I didn’t ask her in. Suddenly I just knew she preferred Public Broadcasting to standard network fare.
Through visual images that appeared in my mind she informed me as I had already suspected that she’d be quite happy to be moved in with us within a space of her own: some straw, a few simple toys, and easy access outside to our porch. Though I gathered she had never tried it I felt her empathetic appreciation for Tasha’s pasta and vegetarian style cooking.
If during 2020 you happen upon a wild turkey perched in a flowerbed or sniffing about your compost please be gentle and understand that they are gifted birds with highly evolved communication skills. Rather than callously shoo one away with the side of your foot relax, take a few deep breaths and participate in nonverbal visual communications. You might well be amazed by the results.

Letting Go Of The Little Stuff
By Madisyn Taylor

When we stop worrying about unimportant matters, we can devote so much more of ourselves to what is truly important.

We experience numerous disappointments each and every day. Our expectations go unmet, our plans are blocked by circumstance, our wishes go unfulfilled, and we discover that our lives are subject to a myriad of forces beyond our conscious control. In some cases, our response is powerful because we must invest ourselves and our resources to overcome genuine hardship. In others, our reactions are far more passionate than our circumstances likely warrant. The tension that permeates our bodies and minds when we are late for an event, interrupted at work, or sitting in traffic is not inappropriate, but it can interfere with our well-being in profound ways. When we stop worrying about relatively unimportant matters, we can be at peace and devote so much more of ourselves to what is truly important.

The small frustrations and irritations wield such power over us because they rob us of the illusion of control. But every problem is a potential teacher–a confusing situation is an opportunity to practice mindfulness, and difficult people provide us with opportunities to display compassion. There is a natural human tendency to invest copious amounts of emotional energy in minor dilemmas and frustrations in order to avoid confronting those more complex issues that are largely outside the realm of our control. The intensity of our response provides us with a temporary sense of personal power that helps us cope with challenges that might otherwise overwhelm us. But it is only when we let the little stuff go that we discover that the big stuff is not really so devastating after all.

In the stress of a singularly tense incident, differentiating between an inconsequential annoyance and a legitimate challenge can seem a monumental task. Ask yourself whether the emotions you are feeling will be as vivid in a year, a day, or even an hour. As focused as you are on this moment in time, your reward for letting go of your emotional investment may be the very happiness and harmony of being whose loss you are lamenting. Needless aggravation is seldom worth the cost it exacts. You cannot distance yourself from life’s inconsistencies, irritations, and upheavals, but you can relinquish your desire for perfect order and gain peace of mind in the process.

Weekly Horoscopes Beginning Sunday, 08 December 2019

If you`re born within cusp period (16 to 26 of any month); you`re advised to read horoscopes of both signs covered by that period. You`re in the border; you may have influences from houses within those signs.

Outlines are longer versions; consists of every possible detail of everyday and based on three parts of each sign: 1st, 2nd & 3rd Decan; that is, any of three divisions of 10° within a sign of the zodiac. Even if you know or don`t know your Decan; I recommend, please read all three Decan.

Aries
Personal theme: I am!!
Fire & cardinal sign: March 21 — April 19

Your horoscope for this week:

When your ruler Mars moved into Scorpio, one of the most discreet signs of the zodiac, and to accent financial or business matters, you began a cycle that demanded you be extremely cautious. While, obviously, this is frustrating, what you learn in the process will be interesting now, and is likely to be amazingly helpful when you`re facing a range of tricky situations over the coming months.

A creative ability you usually restrict for your personal pleasure will be brought out into the open. Skills you rarely draw attention to will find outlet in a festive project. Don`t be surprised if more demands for this special skill come your way. It`s important to try to keep your Christmas spending within your budgeted limit. The last thing you want is to suffer sleepless nights, as the year ends, through worrying about bills. Making homemade gifts can save you pots of money.

You may remember that Mercury turned retrograde at the very end of October. As of this Sunday it returns to that same degree and appears to move forward at speed. You may feel as though you`re doing precisely the same. Clearly this energy affects all signs. You may find that ideas are thrown at you from every possible direction. Of course, this could result in a super creative week.. Anticipate though that by Thursday`s Full Moon that there will be a sharp reminder of the need to control costs and put firm plans in place. With this, you show that you have full control of a project and will bring it to its next stage by the end of January.

Taurus
Personal theme: I have!!
Earth & fixed sign: April 20 — May 20

Your horoscope for this week:

Either you`ll have to take a tough line in certain matters or you`re facing situations that demand you be both clever and alert. Or both. While this is no surprise, the timing is sudden. Obviously, this won`t be easy, but the issues you`re dealing with and what you learn in the process will be informative; and, equally, you`ll have a timely opportunity to overcome persistent doubts.

Your communication skills are high making this a great time to get your creative ideas across. You`re the life and soul of the party. At work, pour your energy into a team effort that could lead to a new business opportunity. Find ways to showcase your talent and promote your interests. Include newsy letters in your Christmas cards. A joint account will receive a welcome boost and this extra money will come in useful for the coming festivities.

As of this Sunday, Mercury returns to the position it held when it turned retrograde at the end of October. As though you`ve been caught in a traffic jam you should now move forward with relative ease. True, that will likely require you observing a speed limit – at least whilst you go past and perhaps even assist with clearing up the various accidents that have occurred along the way. By Thursday`s Full Moon however you should be well on your way. It would help if you manage to submit documents and essential paperwork to those who need it before the end of the week. In this, you could surprise yourself by discovering that you`ve been more efficient than you thought.

Gemini
Personal theme: I think!!
Air sign: May 21 — June 20

Your horoscope for this week:

For ages there`s been tension about a range of unresolved issues, most regarding close relationships. However, there`s never been a reason to tackle these. Now, not only will Thursday`s Gemini Full Moon bring them to a head, events will force those who`ve firmly ignored these to get involved. Once everybody`s actually talking things over, any other problems will be discussed and dealt with remarkably swiftly.

A friend or relative is having second thoughts about plans made for the New Year. They`re talking about cancelling arrangements but you had been looking forward to these and want to go ahead. Even if they don`t join in, there`s no reason why this should stop you. You`ve always had a lively imagination. Someone might accuse you of dreaming the days away. You are determined to turn dreams into reality and show others how practical you can be.

Thursday`s Full Moon is in your sign. This isn`t unusual for this time of year but the fact that this coincides with an alignment of Venus and Saturn suggests that this could mark a make or break moment. This may in fact have been brewing since the end of October when your ruling planet, Mercury, turned retrograde. As of Sunday, 8th, that planet returned to that degree and is now moving forward and apparently picking up speed. That very speed could take you unawares and you may not know which way to turn. An alliance – either with someone older or more likely, a Capricorn, should prove helpful: though that will likely require that you play by the rules (something you could find testing!).

Cancer
Personal theme: I feel!!
Water & cardinal sign: June 21 — July 22

Your horoscope for this week:

You thought you could discern those who`re merely trying to make others feel guilty versus individuals who`re actually struggling. However, you`re currently facing a range of situations that involve the expert manipulation of others` feelings. This includes you. If you doubt their complaints are genuine, investigate, but discreetly. What you learn, about the individuals in question but, also, about unscrupulous individuals will be remarkably educational.

You`re thinking about your future goals. A decision to change jobs will prompt you to look at what vacancies are on offer. A new position sounds appealing but don`t be too quick to show your interest. Unsavoury facts could come to light that will make you change your mind. Even if you aren`t in the mood, make an effort to finish old projects lying around the home or workplace. Big changes are ahead and you will want to be ready for these.

Mercury has now returned to the position it held at the end of October; and yes, matters that were unresolved then should return for a final clear up. Developments are likely to be fast and furious and midweek, leave you momentarily confused. Don`t panic but there is also a Full Moon. It`s possible that your imagination will go into overdrive. Clarity though will come before the end of the week and as the Moon arrives in your sign (Friday) you should be able to explain your fears and concerns. In fact, at this point you should also be in highly constructive mode. Your organisational skills will surely be noted and much admired – especially by those from other generations. Note too, that it`s possible that a Capricorn might even think of suggesting that you work together more closely.

Leo
Personal theme: I will!!
Fire & fixed sign: July 23 — August 22

Your horoscope for this week:

Little is more upsetting that being let down by somebody you`ve trusted. Tempting as it is to say nothing, ask what happened, and if there was any problem. Judging by the current planetary setup, not only are there tricky issues to deal with, if you team up together, you`ll be able to tackle the matter in question and, probably, several other problems as well.

You have a powerful personality and although there are some things you will not want to change; in other areas of your life you will strive to be as flexible and accommodating as possible. You`re trying to see the world through other people`s eyes and this will earn you their respect. A friend in dire straits will appreciate your assistance. Some help you received last month, seemed to be Heaven sent. You haven`t forgotten this and now you have a chance to pay it forward.

What became `stuck in the mud` at the end of October should now be released and move forward at speed as of this Sunday. It helps that there is a Full Moon on Thursday and that others will be keen to see action. Yet it may be that initially too many people are involved in this emergency action and that each is pulling against another. Whilst there may be some humour in all this, it doesn`t alter the fact that if things are to move forward, it is essential that everyone move together. This is where you could come in. You could effectively `direct traffic` and, by Friday see real progress. In particular, those born under either Cancer or Capricorn could be left feeling indebted to you for having taken the lead.

Virgo
Personal theme: I analyse!!
Earth sign: August 23 — September 22

Your horoscope for this week:

Nobody is better at juggling life`s duties and obligations with its pleasures. Yet judging by the current intense planetary emphasis on both sides of your life, even you could feel overwhelmed. The trick? Forget your usual clever analysis and do whatever comes to mind first, and continue in that manner. You`ll worry less and, despite the spontaneous approach to the matters in question, everything will get done.

You will be delighted to hear about a friend`s accomplishment. Witnessing someone else`s success will awaken your own creative impulses. Take this opportunity to start a new art, music or any type of creative project. Taking charge of a work project will be a big responsibility. Bending the rules in someone`s favour might make life easier for them but it`s not a good idea. People will resent this decision. It`s important to treat everyone with fairness and respect.

You could feel as though everything is running away from you and by Thursday`s Full Moon you might wonder exactly which direction to take. Fact is that your ruling planet Mercury, has now returned to its retrograde position. As it picks up speed, developments could come thick and fast. You are probably right to have identified that others are struggling with scheduling. Perhaps they really do need your assistance. You could be pulled this way and that by midweek; and yes, you might even appear as though it`s you who is the headless chicken. With Thursday`s Full Moon in the past however, the situation changes dramatically. It`s then that you should be clear as to what must be prioritised and treasured and what can now be left behind.

Libra
Personal theme: I balance!!
Air & cardinal sign: September 23 — October 22

Your horoscope for this week:

For ages you`ve been concerned about situations that are increasingly worrying; but, actually, you`ve been as worried about how you`d handle certain tricky individuals who`re a crucial part of the problem. Judging by Wednesday`s link between your ruler Venus and the tough but practical Saturn, you`ll politely but firmly detail what you expect from the individuals in question, also making it clear that your decisions aren`t negotiable.

You`re determined to be organised this Christmas. It might be a good idea to get a head start now on your festive shopping. Finish writing out your cards, get them sent off and keep up to date with other festive tasks that can take up such a lot of your time. Disagreements over finances could cause tension in a partnership. If money is tight, agree on an economy plan that might ease the strain and lift you out of debt.

By the time that the lunar node leaves a career point of your solar chart in June next year you may have changed direction entirely. What occurs this week should set you on fresh path. It`s not simply that there is an important Full Moon on Thursday, but that Mercury has now returned to the degree it held before turning retrograde at the end of October. You`ve had ample opportunity to rethink, debate, recharge and prepare for the next stage. Another stepping stone will be reached before the end of December and yet another at the end of January. What takes place this week and especially if those born under one of the Fire signs of Aries, Leo or Sagittarius – are involved should be illuminating and exciting; but yes, also has the potential to be exhausting. It`s important to remember that your finely balanced scales will require that you pace yourself.

Scorpio & Ophiuchus
Personal theme: I desire!!
Water & fixed signs: October 23 — November 21

Your horoscope for this week:

When the forthright Mars moved into Scorpio on 19 November, you began an intense, and extended, review of both elements of your lifestyle and, equally, of your priorities. While you`ve thought about and, often, made changes in longstanding arrangements, others remain to be discussed. This is the week not only to tackle these but to state what you want and expect, and frankly.

Check you`ve paid outstanding bills before embarking on a Christmas spending spree. Ask a partner to contribute if you`re always the one who is responsible for buying gifts and responding to invitations. It isn`t fair for you to have to do it all. You need to be on your toes to deal with demanding relatives. There`s little time to spare with you being fully on the go but at least idling your time away has never held a lot of attraction.

Mercury has now returned to the degree it held at its recent retrograde station in your sign. Whatever has taken place since the end of October, plans for moving forward should now be put in place. True there might still be health matters to take into consideration – especially around Thursday`s Full Moon. A strong possibility is that you are just exhausted and need a break. As importantly, you might need the support and advice from someone older or very well qualified. Fact is that in this turbulent week it might appear that some people are running around confused and unsure as to which direction to take. You perhaps need to know what their choices will be before you can make plans.

Sagittarius
Personal theme: I see!!
Fire sign: November 22 — December 21

Your horoscope for this week:

Although the Sagittarius New Moon, which constitutes a sort of personal New Year, took place on 26 November, you`re still thinking about what you learnt and, even more, debating potential changes. While, ordinarily, you`d have dealt with these already, with the foundation on which these are based shifting but, just as much, your own priorities still unclear, this can`t and, in fact, shouldn`t be rushed.

An unexpected bonus or financial award will make you feel lucky as far as money is concerned. Use this to buy something that will make life more comfortable and don`t feel guilty about spending money on yourself. Throw a festive party. You will enjoy creating a fun atmosphere that brings out the best in everyone. Deciding who to spend Christmas with could be a major source of tension at home, but your partner needs to know what your plans are.

Mercury moves into your sign on Monday just a few days ahead of the Full Moon in your opposite sign. The need now to articulate what you`ve been thinking and feeling will surely be very strong. Yet we need to remember that Mars is still travelling through neighbouring Scorpio. It`s entirely possible that you are still processing much that`s occurred in recent weeks. Your stance on certain things may be shifting. What you state in the days after the Full Moon will surely form the basis for plans for 2020. What seems to be too idealistic and impractical midweek could actually happen – but yes, with support. Yes, it could take until after the Solar Eclipse on 26 before you can really put plans in motion. The process though is now underway.

Capricorn
Personal theme: I use!!
Earth & cardinal sign: December 22 — January 19

Your horoscope for this week:

While, obviously, you`d welcome brilliant ideas or offers that come from out of the blue, as a practical Capricorn, in the meanwhile, you`ll invest time in working hard to achieve the goals you have in mind. Despite your cautious attitude, the current stunning planetary activity suggests that those appealing ideas or offers aren`t just worthwhile, the odds are good they`re even better than they seem.

Expectations people have of you exceed what you are able to give. You are starting to admit you have too many irons in the fire. Many demands are being put on you and you`re letting this get you down. Don`t say nothing for the sake of keeping the peace. Stick up for yourself this week. A combination of demands and distractions makes clear thinking almost impossible. This is not a good time, therefore, to make a life changing decision or to commit to a big project.

By the end of what promises to be a super busy week Venus aligns with your ruling planet Saturn which, you may remember, is moving through your sign. It`s entirely possible that a major alliance will be formed. It could be that this has been thought about since the end of October when Mercury turned retrograde. Ideas floated in late October could be picked up once more and this time carry great momentum. Yes, you`re probably right that some people are overly emotional and too excited (especially around the Full Moon on Thursday) which suggests that your ability to focus on the heart of the matter will be vital. All that said, noting that Jupiter is now passing through your sign, it`s possible that you will need assistance with translation. Whether that`s because someone has been too emotional or because literally, they speak another language, will depend on your personal chart.

Aquarius
Personal theme: I know!!
Air & fixed sign: January 20 — February 18

Your horoscope for this week:

Most Aquarians have an easy-going nature and a natural inquisitiveness, which means that if things don`t work out, you`ll probably have other options in mind. However, even you could be surprised, if not overwhelmed, by the unexpected ideas or offers triggered by the rare link between fortunate Jupiter and your ruler Uranus. While it`s not until the 15th, it`s so powerful you`re probably already benefiting from it.

Helping to arrange a fundraising event will be a good use of your leadership skills. Many people will come together to help and this spirit of cooperation will remind you of how amazing the human race can be. A search for a missing object could be in vain but don`t worry as it won`t be as valuable as someone is making out and this item will be replaced in time for when it is needed next.

It might seem to some people that you`re going back on your word. Nothing though could surely be further from the truth. It`s probable that you made clear your position before Mercury turned retrograde on October 31. Since then you have listened to all sorts of arguments and yes, at times give others the impression that you`re more attuned to their way of thinking. By Thursday`s Full Moon it should be clear that though you`ve listened, you still hold your earlier views. It is perhaps true that these are embedded in history and tradition. This stance could prove valuable – and be much respected – and likely lead to the reforming of a business partnership.

Pisces
Personal theme: I believe!!
Water sign: February 19 — March 20

Your horoscope for this week:

Either somebody is trying to blame you for their mistakes or you misjudged one particular arrangement and are paying the price. Whatever the case, and this could appear in very minor forms as well as more challenging problems, each requires that you be firm about what is your responsibility and what isn`t. This won`t be easy, but it`s vital that you stand your ground.

Pay bills before splashing out on luxuries. Your family would prefer you not to get into debt this Christmas. Credit cards may make spending easy but you could regret it later. When buying gifts, be sensible about what you can and can`t afford. A close friend may need a helping hand or a sympathetic ear and you will be in a position to offer both. They will be relieved to know they have you to lean on whenever things get too much for them.

As of Monday, and having returned to the degree it held when it first went retrograde on October 31, Mercury begins to move forward through another of the Mutable signs. The pace should quicken. In fact, by midweek you may be at a loss for words; confused too as to who is moving in which direction. The fact that there is a Full Moon on Thursday should exaggerate this sense of being surrounded by `headless chickens`. Yet in this condition though you could effect so much magic. Your ability to bring a smile to people will surely make such a difference. As importantly, your comment about a presentation and how it could be improved should make a real difference. True, it will likely be after the Solar Eclipse on December 26 before you`re rewarded for your efforts, it should be recognised that it`s what you did this week that warranted that attention.
