Magick, dreams, health, love, home and family In the word Monday, we can see part of the word Moon. In the romance languages such as Italian or Spanish, this day of the week is called Lunes and clearly relates to the word lunar. On Mondays, a variety of magick may be worked.
Because Monday centers on the energies of the Moon, things like psychism, dreams, feminine energy, health, success in spiritual pursuits, domestic matters, and things of family origin are especially important this day.

Full Moon Ritual

A full moon ritual for a solitary does not need to be fancy or complex. It is more about your connection with your Goddess and what is needed in your life at this time.
No altar is needed. Rather, just stand in the moonlight, close your eyes, and feel her presence. Talk with her about how things are with you. How is life for you right now? Is there anything that could make it better? Or is life too much, and maybe you could do better with less, like less strain or less stress? It is all about you at this moment, and your Goddess is there if you will just reach out and make the connection.
Take this evening to talk to your Goddess. Thank her for all the good things in your life. And do not be afraid to ask her for any assistance you may need. That is what a full moon is all about.

Love Powder
To make a potent love powder, place some plain talc in a small bowl and leave in the moonlight before a Full Moon. The next night, add seven drops of geranium oil, seven of ylang ylang oil, and three of patchouli oil. Again, leave in the moonlight. On the third night add one more drop of each essence, concentrating on the enchanting and transformative power of the Moon-drenched powder. Visualize it glowing with the power to bewitch any who come into contact with it. Place the powder in tinfoil to keep it fresh, and wear or scatter a little whenever you desire to attract love.

Anti-Cold Spell
My grandmother used this recipe as a spell to get rid of colds.
Chicken Soup
1 whole chicken (about 3–4 pounds), 2 onions, 3 carrots, 4 stalks of celery, 5 cloves of garlic, 6 pints water, 2 teaspoons salt (or more to taste), 1 teaspoon fresh or 1¼2 teaspoon dried parsley, 2 teaspoons sage, 11¼4 teaspoons rosemary, 1 teaspoon thyme
Cut the onions into eight pieces, and the carrots and celery into four pieces. Put everything in a four- quart pot, boil and simmer one hour. Drink a cup of broth hourly. Eat the solids when you feel like it.

Last week we talked about déjà vu when Mercury the planet representing how we learn, think, and communicate connected with Uranus, the Great Awakener, and Pluto the transformer, for the second time in a month. I warned you, they are back! It may feel like more of the same, but with greater intensity. It might feel like what psychology refers to as Cognitive Dissonance. You may not be familiar with the phrase, but you certainly know the feeling. This occurs when we become aware we are holding two or more thoughts we believe to be accurate and true, but when seen together, they conflict.
The human mind has an incredible intolerance for this kind of awareness. We feel uncomfortable, bothered, bewildered even stressed. Whether or not we know it, we want life to make sense! This feeling can stop me in my tracks. Just ask my friends. We’ll be having a conversation and suddenly my eyes glaze over and they realize ‘I have left the building’. Some may think it’s a Pisces thing; I know it’s my own version of cognitive dissonance. I can literally feel the wheels in my brain spinning and it feels like something has jumped the tracks. I literally cannot continue with the conversation until I figure out what exactly isn’t fitting together and why.
Mercury finishes its retrograde cycle on Monday; and is positioned for its third consecutive date with transformational Pluto on Friday night. Mercury will also make a third and final conflicting square with Uranus on Sunday. The messenger planet’s meet-ups with two influential outer planets signify our three-week trip down memory lane was not in vain. Significant changes in our thinking, if not already obvious, are making their way into our consciousness. Are we ready?
Pluto is what I’d call a no-nonsense planet. Change or be changed! Mercury together with Pluto is a truth-telling serum bubbling to the surface of our consciousness and begging to be released. Expect some aha moments and profound revelations.
We get a sweet and healing reprieve on Saturday when Venus connects with Neptune. But then on Sunday, get ready for round two as Mercury makes the final square with Uranus. I’m not trying to paint the Mercury—Pluto – Uranus alignment as a negative thing – far from it actually. It’s enlightening, purifying and energy powerful enough to change our lives as we are willing to change our minds. As Venus connects with Neptune, we can access higher spiritual understanding that helps put all events and changes into perspective. Even when we can’t see the outcome, we can have faith in the process and trust a higher good will prevail.
Remember as Mercury connects with Pluto and squares Uranus we are struggling to find some kind of resolution or closure for one or more parts of our lives that just don’t seem to fit comfortably together any more. Uranus, as the great Awakener, is cheering loudly; glad he has gotten our attention. Pluto is quietly and powerfully rearranging our thoughts allowing new revelations to emerge. Try to be open to new information and ideas. We can always reject them later! Why not have some fun and play with it?

Heartwings Love Notes 708: Josie’s Sugar Cookies
Heartwings says, “ There’s nothing like a good cookie to warm the heart.
Josephine worked for Nonny, my father’s mother, on and off for a good many years. She came from Ireland, and was quite a remarkable cook. She had a broad range of dishes and everything she made tasted great. My grandmother ate four good meals a day, breakfast, lunch, tea and supper. While she was somewhat stout, she wasn’t what I would call extremely overweight. I’m not sure what she did with all those calories. Perhaps she had a good metabolism.
Josephine did her cooking on a large black iron stove that was fueled with lumps of coal that had to be added frequently. The oven was beneath the four burners on the top of the stove. I cannot possibly figure out how she managed to do the wonderful baking she did in that oven, or how she could regulate the temperature of the stove top so that she didn’t burn everything she cooked. I don’t think I could ever do that, nor would I like to try.
At tea, my grandmother always had well buttered English muffins toasted over an open burner and either cake or cookies. I loved Josephine’s sugar cookies and begged her for the recipe. She never used one, so she couldn’t tell me how she made them. One day I persuaded her to let me watch her. As I observed her I carefully wrote down what I saw her do. When I made them from my guesses, they came out pretty well. Almost as good as Josephine’s.
Over the years I’ve made them a lot. When my children were in school I made them for bake sales or special events. If you don’t need them all, you can freeze part of the dough for another time. Children love to help and it’s nice to have another pair of hands. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees, grease up to 4 cookie sheets. Ingredients: 2 cups butter (1 pound), 3 cups sugar, 3 eggs, 1 Tbs vanilla, 4 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp salt, 4 cups flour, ½ cup milk. Topping ingredients: plain sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg, colored sprinkles, chocolate sprinkles, etc.
Method: In electric mixer, cream butter, sugar, until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and beat well. Beat in vanilla. Add baking powder, salt. Beat well. Add 1 1/3 cups flour, ¼ cup milk, beat well; add 1 1/3 cups flour, rest of milk, beat well, then rest of flour, beating well. Drop by heaping teaspoons on greased sheets. Flatten with a fork dipped in cold water or a glass dipped in sugar. Sprinkle with sugar, plain or mingled with spices, colored sugars or sprinkles. Bake at 400, 5 to 7 minutes. They bake fast, so watch them. The recipe makes 12 to 24 dozen depending on how large you make them.

Stephen’s Story

The Magic Wand
The long package addressed to David had the return address of a lawyer’s office. He unwrapped it and took out a polished antique wand made of wood with an ornate silver handle. There was a letter with it, stating that it was his sole inheritance from his grandfather. He held it in his hand and admired its sleek craftsmanship..
He wondered where his grandfather had found it. He’d been an oriental rug merchant with a lifelong appreciation of mysticism and magic. He looked again at the letter. In his clear, concise handwriting his grandfather had written: “This very special wand will provide for all your needs and help you to create a wonderfully happy, fulfilling life.”
David scratched his head. How did one use a magic wand? He had read the Harry Potter books and knew wands could do magical things, however you had to know how to use them. He waved it about his small studio apartment. Nothing changed. Perhaps he expected too much: gold coins falling from the sky, a genie, or a fairy godmother appearing with a contract from a publisher for his short stories.
His grandfather had always referred to himself as a practical occultist, whatever that meant. His collection of books on mysticism and magic, along with his other possessions had gone to some obscure library. David remembered how all his life his grandfather would insist good fortune was accessed from deep within ourselves. He’d watch him wave the wand like a maestro using his baton to conduct a symphony. Somehow his grandfather managed to get on very well even though he never seemed to have a great deal of money, and what he did have, he often gave away.
Seeing that it felt like rain, David decided to postpone his usual morning walk. He stood by the window and peered outside at the trees in the small park across from his building. The clouds were dark; spits of rain brushed against the window.
He waved the wand dramatically. “Stop raining,“ he said forcefully, and it did. The sun burst through the clouds and the day brightened up. He turned on the TV. The morning weather forecaster seemed perplexed. “All week’s forecasts have been for rain. But now it’s sunny…”
He phoned his girl friend Jill and invited her to go walking that afternoon. They’d been close for a long time. He was hoping they could get an apartment together soon. “I sent out the two stories you suggested, and guess what, I heard from the publisher of an online magazine that liked them and wants more.
“I’ll come over,” she said tersely. “We need to talk.” He was surprised by the tone of her voice. She was usually cheerful and supportive. He hoped everything was all right.
He opened the door and let her in. She sat down, looked around his small apartment and frowned.
“What’s wrong? Are you feeling OK?“
She nodded but remained silent.
“What is it, Jill? What’s bothering you?”
She bit her lip. “Oh it’s my aunt Sylvia. She keeps nagging me about only seeing you. Mom’s finally starting to agree with her. They both think I need someone more affluent in my life.”
“That’s nothing new. She never liked me.“
“It’s not you per se,” Jill said. “It’s just that you’re always close to broke and they think I deserve better.”
He nodded. Rebutting her comments wouldn’t help. “I told you, I sent my stories to that new magazine Abracadabra.”
“Aunt Sylvia said if you were a decent writer you’d be appearing in The New Yorker or the Atlantic.“
“One day,” he tried. “I need to keep writing every day and work to establish my name.”
“She told my mom that you’d never be able to support me. That you’re useless, and I’d always need money from the family.“
That got him. Witch, he thought. He picked up the wand and waved it. An image came into his mind of Jill’s Aunt Sylvia as a comic book witch with green skin and a hooked nose that met her warty chin.
He set down the wand. “Just keep believing in me,” he pleaded. “Where would Dante have been without Beatrice’s love.”

He reached to kiss her. She stood up.
“It’s nice out. Let’s go sit in the park,” he said.
She tried to smile. “It’s just tough.” She picked up her coat, sighed and headed for the door. “We’ll talk later,” she said and left.
He felt sad, empty. The sky clouded over and rain began to fall.
He felt desperate. “I have this horrible feeling I’ll lose Jill,” he said to the empty room. He picked up the wand. “My stories need to sell. I have to become a recognized writer. What can I do?“ He waved the wand and then sat down, his head in his hands. It rained harder.
The next day he received an email from Abracadabra. They wanted to buy two of his stories and would be sending him two thousand dollars. Even better they wanted to read his older work.
Immediately he phoned Jill and shared his good news.
“Something awful has happened to my aunt,” she said. “This morning when she woke up her chin was all warty, her skin was green and now her nose hooks. Mom took her to the hospital. She looks like a witch.”
He was too excited to listen. “I’m getting a big check from Abracadabra…”he began.
“That’s fine,” she said. “But right now I’m too upset to feel very good for you. Let’s talk later.”
Then what she had said sank in. “You say she was that way when she woke up today?”
“Yes,“ Jill said. “But I really must go.”
Later that night Jill told him her aunt would need some sort of reconstructive surgery. The cost was way beyond the poor woman’s means.“
“How much,” David asked.
“Twenty thousand dollars.“
“I’ll be getting money from Abracadabra. With more to come. I’ll help her out.”
Jill seemed perplexed. “But you don’t even like her.”
“Doesn’t matter,“ he said. “I love you and after all she’s family.”
“Really!“ Jill sounded thrilled. “You’d do that? Knowing what she says about you?”
“Why not?“ He could see his grandfather smiling, and he knew like the old man said, there’d always be enough.

In Herbalism 101, we cover 21 herbs, and start our Materia Medica, that we will build throughout the next two levels. We will cover the basic aspects of herbs. From culinary to magickal, medicinal to ornamental. As well as the many modalities of herbs!
Herbalism 202 – We focus on herbs and terminology having to do with health and health care, making herbal medicines, classifying herbs, the Doctrine of Signatures, and much much more!
Herbalism 303 – This last series of classes teaches about the entire body, one system at a time. You’ll learn about how the body functions and what health problems are related to which body system. You’ll also learn about natural health remedies for many health problems.
Free Reiki Masters certification and attunement with purchase of Herbalism 1,2,and 3. I am attuned to Usui Ryoho, but I also ask that my students read the Diane Stein book, Essential Reiki. We cover the three Reiki levels and you will receive a Master’s attunement and certificate.
Each level (3 in all) is ten weeks in length.
Each level is 50.00 taken separately and earns a certificate in Healing Arts.
