Seasons of the Witch – Ancient Holidays
March 29
The annual Festival of Ishtar is celebrated by many Pagans on this day in honor of the Assyrian and Babylonian Goddess of love, fertility, and battle.
As a Triple Goddess, Ishtar represents birth, death, and rebirth.
On this day, an annual masquerade ritual is held by the Bobo people of Africa to restore the balance of Nature and to ward off evil spirits. Special prayers
and offerings are made to the Gods of rain and the gods of the harvest.
Coca-Cola was Invented In 1886.
Pickle Day
The Borrowed Days
March borrowed from April
Three days and they were ill
The first was snow and sleet
The next was cold and wet
The third was such a freeze
The birds nests stuck to trees
It was the Romans who gave these days a bad reputation. They believed they were dangerous days, fraught with taboos and the specter of bad weather.

NOTE: Because of the large number of ancient calendars, many in simultaneous use, as well as different ways of computing holy days (marked by the annual inundation, the solar year, the lunar month, the rising of key stars, and other celestial and terrestrial events), you may find these holy days celebrated a few days earlier or later at your local temple.
Remember the ancient ways and keep them sacred!

Finding a Mate Spell
It can be difficult to find a mate in this harried age. For a little magical help, write out a list of the traits you want in a mate.
Place two pieces of burning sage or copal inside a wedding vase or pottery bowl. Sitting close to the rising smoke so that your breath
co-mingles with the rising smoke, read your list aloud. Envision your desires rising out into the universe and then returning in the form
of the person you are looking for.

To live only for some future goal is shallow. It’s the sides of the mountain that sustain life, not the top.~Robert M. Pirsig
Visions from the Goddess Spell
If you seek divine inspiration or guidance on this day, scatter candles liberally, but safely, around a room. Half-fill a small cauldron or large bowl with water and add some floating candles. Now light all of the candles, leaving the floating ones for last. Ground and center yourself, calling on a particular deity if you so wish. When you feel ready, gaze into the bottom of the cauldron, focusing, yet not focusing, on the flames and the motion of the water. Spend some time afterward meditating upon the vision you receive. You may want to write what you saw, as well as what you think it meant, for future use.

The Universe is full of magical things, patiently waiting for our wits to grow sharper.~Eden Phillpotts
The Goddess draped herself in clouds and flew
across her many islands to the great mountain
where the muses lived, renowned Parnassus,
and spoke to them directly: “I have heard,” she said
“that water rises here, a new spring kicked to life
by that strange offspring of Medusa, the horse
with wings and lightning hooves.” Urania nodded.
“We rejoice you found a reason for this visit,” she said,
“for you are ever present with us, in our hearts.”
And then she took the goddess to a dark wood
filled with caverns and dappled with meadows
where spring blossoms flourished. And the Goddess
stayed awhile there, happy in the company
of memory’s sweet daughters, marveling
at sweet water rising from the hard rock like
inspiration that comes after a long drought, like
the heart that loves again after a brutal loss.
~Ovid, Metamorphoses
The Roman poet Ovid’s masterpiece, Metamorphoses, is a series of tales about the magical transformation of one being into another. Dying lovers are transformed into flowers, maidens into birds, and – in this passage – a hard rock into a bubbling spring. Minerva, the Warrior Goddess who also rules craftsmanship, visits the Goddesses of the Arts, the Muses. These nine maidens live on Mount Parnassus, which even to this day is a symbol of the heights of artistic achievement. There she sees the miraculous spring called Castalia, the source of all genius, which the great winged horse Pegasus opened in the rock with one strike of his flinty hooves.
And is this not the miracle we each perform every time we create something new and original for the Goddess’ pleasure – and our own?

Now the day is spent,
And stars are kindling in the firmament,
To us how silent, though like ours, perchance,
Busy, and full of life and circumstance.

About The Morning Feast and Goddessschool.com – The teachings here are based on ordinary magick, the principle that the mundane and the Divine are not separate, but peacefully coexist in all things. Know Mother Earth as the ultimate healer, and learn to utilize her gifts of nature. Inside each woman is a being of wisdom, deeply connected to the phases of the moon and the tides of the sea. All we need to do is trust our innate wisdom.
