Light A Candle Today!
In many different traditions lighting a candle is a sacred action. It expresses more than words can express. It has to do with gratefulness. From time immemorial, people have lit candles in sacred places. You may want to begin or end your day by the sacred ritual of lighting a candle on this gratefulness. Or you may want to light a birthday candle for a friend. One single guideline is all you need: Slow down and do it with full attention.

Biddy Tarot Card of the Week
by Brigit | Biddy Tarot <brigit@biddytarot.com>

KNIGHT OF PENTACLES REVERSED

Do you need greater self-discipline and commitment to achieve your goals? Instead of trying new things or dreaming up more ideas, this week may be a good time to establish a schedule or routine for yourself and stick to it until you have completed your assigned task.

On the flipside, if you’re feeling stuck in the daily grind and life has become boring and dull, it may be time to do something different. Be a little spontaneous this week and you may just find your creativity stirring again.

Ask the Tarot: “How can I create a schedule that supports my goals and nourishes my creativity?”

Mercury in Retrograde

The first phase of Mercury retrograde for the year 2020 occurs between February 17 and March 10 in the zodiac houses of Aquarius and Pisces.

• Pre-shadow Period :
February 1- February 17

• Actual Retrograde Phase :
February 18- March 9

What does this mean? That when there is a change in the rotation of the planet it seems that it moved backwards in the zodiac. This makes human events governed by this important planet, communication, business, technology, get stuck, delayed or with complications.

Matters of love, communication, transportation and finances will experience setbacks, delays, lack of communication and delay in general. What to do? Since we can not stay in bed until March, although we would like to, knowledge gives us power. In love we know that misunderstandings and discussions can occur, so we have to double patience and prudence.

Before jumping and arguing, you have to think not two, but four times what we are going to say and above all listen, understand. If you have a doubt question and especially you, explain yourself well. Be careful with social networks during this time. Old photos will appear old messages, Retrograde Mercury tries to take people and situations to the past. Resist Do not let an ex from the past break your present.

During this period the communication will be crucial since the messages will tend to be deleted, the mails will not arrive. When what we have to say is important, you have to pick up the phone and call. For those who share messages and intimate photos, if during a normal period of the year it is a risky and not recommended practice, Mercury retrograde is even more imprudent since that photo, that video has all the possibilities of ending up in the wrong hands. The best advice, and it’s good for the whole year, do not take that picture, do not shoot that video. If you do not protect yourself, nobody will do it for you.

Finally, transportation. Just when everyone goes on vacation, the word that will prevail will be DELAY. But do not assume that the flight will always be delayed, you can be late too, so leave the house with much anticipation, reconfirm the schedules and try to have an alternate plan.

Mercury Retrograde February 2020
by Ruby

Mercury goes Retrograde on February 16, 2020 and runs through March 9th, 2020.

Sometimes the Universe gives us a break even though it doesn’t always feel that way. One thing the Cosmos always does is create balance. So the energies get slowed down a bit so we can have the opportunity to catch up. Mercury in Retrograde (Rx for short) is that time out, it’s an opportunity to get caught up with life, and a time to unplug and take a long deep breath. It’s also a great time to take off from work if at all possible, maybe taking a little vacay and focus on reworking anything that needs to be done, or finishing projects that were never finished to completion, especially since Mercury rules over our minds and thoughts. When this fast-moving planet goes into Retrograde we start to perceive things in a very different and unique way.

Mercury in Rx like all Retrograde planets, as is happening for a reason. This isn’t some new Astrological fad! Planets have always gone into Retrograde cycles and will continue to appear to move backwards in the future every year. So every once in a while we get a chance to pause or stop, and take a break from our overloaded plugged in lives. This is the time to review your life and the paths you’re on. What this Mercury in Rx cycle does is help us to breathe, be still, relax, and review. The main thing to understand as this cycles energy takes hold, is that it’s a time to review your life and redo anything that needs to be done. It is time to re-search, re-think, re-visit, re-connect, and to get re-organized.

What Not To Do during Mercury in Retrograde:
– Don’t start brand new projects
– Do not get into arguments, avoid critical folks and tense people or situations.
– Do Not Sign Contracts or New Agreements
– Avoid Travel
– Do Not take misunderstandings personal. Our communication is foggy and cloudy.

What To do during Mercury in Retrograde:

– Redo, Rework, Review, Research, so basically go over things again and wrap up old business and projects.
– Double Check the Facts and any info gathered.
– Revisit what you need to, like your work.
– Reconnect with the folks that matter if you’ve had issues or not.
– Backup Computers and any data you want to keep saved, usually start this process two weeks prior to the actual Retro Cycle.
– Reorganize your daily life routines.
– Declutter.
– Reflect and practice spiritual work.
– Release what’s been holding you back or blocking you, let go of what no longer is working especially in your intimate relationships.

There can be positive things that come from a Mercury in Retrograde cycle that you just didn’t think about before. For example, throwing out old stuff that you no longer need or use, and organizing your life. Stay focused on any past opportunities and reconsider them now, see if they’re still an option, and try to let go of any computer glitches or electronic snafus you might be experiencing. Don’t get angry, or to frustrated.

Mercury is currently in the sign of Pisces, this is compassionate but strange energy. Therefore, we will be in for some odd twists and turns along the way, as we look for ways to escape our reality. The sign of Pisces is after all the sign of the fish, so it lives in the healing energy of water, and Mercury rules the mind, the two don’t mix real well. If we take this cycle to learn how to feel and listen to our intuition, and to be more kind and compassionate to others and ourselves, than we can make things happen once it’s over! As we go back to revisit and revise our plans, we can make some interesting new discoveries, but we may just have to feel our way through this cycle and not rely on good old fashioned common sense so much.

It’s important to keep a paper trail of whatever you purchase. Mercury is known as the “trickster” of the Zodiac, so it likes to play tricks that make us change our minds, and this causes confusion. Lots of people come back around from our past including ex-lovers and friends. Mercury’s influence seems to bring these chance meetings together. But that doesn’t mean it’s fated or destined to be together. It is usually about some sort of healing.

Our focus should be on re-organizing and reflecting. We see the world a little differently during this time, and through these filters we can have some very important inner revelations. It may not be as easy to communicate under this influence, but remember not to try and rationalize everything. Logic is out and intuition is in during Mercury Rx.

Mercury Rx periods can be times of heightened inner-awareness, so practicing things like meditation, keeping a journal, reworking old plans, reviewing, or reconnecting to your past can be quite helpful. Mercury Rx is also a powerful time to study, particularly for returning to old studies and re-learning or refreshing knowledge around a subject that’s already been taken.

This Mercury in Retrograde cycle can also help you think back to a part of your recent past, and reconnect you to an old dream or goal to follow through on once its over. But make sure to write it all down for now. Someone from your past might get a hold of you for a second chance or opportunity, but that doesn’t mean it’s meant to be, usually, it doesn’t work out for the long-run. But it’s nice to reconnect and perhaps sort out any unresolved issues you might have.

Because we are perceiving things in a different way, the truth tends to come out, and you just might notice or find some kind of detail you overlooked or didn’t catch before, which can be very helpful. This cycle can bring clarity and help you move past any restrictions or blocks standing in your way. Mercury begins retracing its steps in direct motion in March 9 (its shadow ends on March 31).

Wishing you a safe and interesting adventure.

Herbs for Mercury Retrograde

Mercury is inviting us to pause and pay closer attention to how we think and communicate. It’s time to pause and reflect rather than fumble forward in logical and verbal chaos. Capitalism demands constant communication and pushes our minds into overdrive. We are not intended to be running mental marathons 24/7. Practice radical self care and s-l-o-w down that brilliant brain of yours.

How can we REassess, REvisit, REconsider, REcognize, etc? It can be hard to look back, especially for those of us who tend to anxiously stretch towards the future. You’re not alone, witches, the plants are here to support you.

Lavender (Lavandula sp): Ruled by Mercury and the element of air, lavender is the mind’s best friend. The latin root “lavare” means “to cleanse”, both emotionally and physically. Lavender helps cleanse the mind of stress and intrusive thoughts. The beautiful smell goes straight from our olfactory senses to our emotional (limbic) brain, encouraging it to RElax and REstore. When in doubt this month, lavender lavender lavender. Grow it, smell it, drink it, shower with it. Just live lavender this month.

Rosemary (Rosmarinus Officinalis): Shakespeare famously deemed “Rosemary for remembrance.” Sorry to quote a dead white guy, but it’s just too apt to leave out. Rosemary not only supports mental clarity and alertness, but is also deeply connected to our memory. Ruled by the sun, Rosemary is illuminating as Mercury retrogrades through Leo. Rosemary brings healing to painful memories and shines light towards our forgotten gifts. I burn rosemary to bring clarity to my workspace and inspire my writing.

Holy Basil (Ocimum Sanctum/Tenuiflorum): Life doesn’t slow down just because Mercury is retrograde. Holy Basil, or Tulsi, supports a calm, clear mind while helping our bodies adapt to everyday stressors. Coffee may be extra agitating to some this month as it is ruled by Mercury and highly stimulating. Whatever mental unrest Mercury provokes could be kicked up a notch by coffee. Holy Basil is a wonderful alternative because it supports focus and alertness without the jitters of coffee. It’s also delicious iced!

Licorice Root (Glycyrrhiza Glabra): Mercury rules the respiratory system in addition to the mind. The breath for our spoken words come from our lungs and throats; the center for the body’s air element. During a time where communication can go awry, it’s important to take care of these areas of our body. Licorice is ruled by Mercury and also provides soothing comfort to the lungs and throat. It has a naturally sweet taste that lends nicely to iced tea. Lightly simmer the chopped root for 10-15 minutes, put on ice and enjoy!

Note: Licorice should not be used by persons who are pregnant, have hypertension, liver disorders, edema, severe kidney insufficiency, low blood potassium, or heart disease. Better to be safe than sorry, check with a health professional if you have concerns.

Mint (Mentha spp): I don’t know about you, but mint is rapidly encroaching upon my garden. I like to pay attention to what is abundant and asking for my attention. Scott Cunningham places garden mint in the element of air, ruled by Mercury. Mint is calming to the nervous system and supports digestion. Heightened anxiety paired with summer heat can upset the stomach. Cool off with some mint iced tea or put a couple fresh sprigs in ice water.

Llewellyn’s Spell a Day

Banishing Powder
February 16, 2020 by Kate Freuler

To make this banishing powder, gather these ingredients:
* 1 teaspoon incense ashes
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 1 teaspoon garlic powder
* A bowl
* A pin
* Pen and paper

In the bowl, mix the first three ingredients together using the sharp end of the pin, imbuing them with the prickly, spiky energy of the needle. Imagine a black cloud surrounding the powder. Place the pin in the powder.

With the pen and paper, write down what you wish to banish, or draw a picture or symbol associated with it. Then pour the banishing powder and pin on top of it so it covers the words or drawing completely, snuffing out its power the same way dirt will stifle a fire. Leave this undisturbed until the situation is resolved. Afterward, throw everything away.

Life Cycles and the Magical Mobius
February 15, 2020 by Susan Pesznecker

Winter is a good time to reflect on life’s cycles. What better way to do this than with a Mobius strip?

You’ll need an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper, a scissors, and a pen. Cut a 1 x 11-inch strip from one edge of the sheet. (Set the large leftover sheet aside.) On one side of the strip, reflect on your successes or challenges over the past year, writing as little or as much (or as large!) as you wish but filling the strip with writing. Turn it over, and on the other side, write about your goals, hopes, and dreams for the coming year.

Holding the two ends of the strip, give one end a half-turn so its reverse side is visible. Tape the two ends together with the twist still present.

Sitting quietly and contemplating your successes and dreams, place your finger at any one point on the strip and follow it along, moving the strip as you go, until … what happens?

Summoning Love
February 14, 2020 by Devin Hunter

The energies of love are abundant today as people all over the world celebrate Valentine’s Day. We aren’t celebrating romance or chocolate, but rather the gift of connection and partnership. There are many ways that love can manifest. Whether it is something that you feel is abundant in your life or something you would like more of, connecting to the spirit of love today can bring balance and empowerment to this area of life.

Sit at your altar and light a small red candle on a heatproof surface. Gaze into the flame, focus on the natural rhythm of your breath, and know that the flame embodies all love in your life, past, present, and future.

Chant five times:
All life is made of matter and love.
Love is the fruit of the Goddess
and her ultimate ritual.

Allow the candle to burn down on its own, visiting it two more times to repeat the chant before it goes out.

Warm the Soul Incense
February 13, 2020 by Ari Mankey

February can be the longest month of the year due to the cold and lack of sunlight. This incense is designed to warm the soul and provide some positive energy during an often bleak time of year. The incense uses things readily available in most homes, but you’ll need a small piece of charcoal designed to burn incense on.

For your incense, mix and grind together any combination of the following ingredients: orange zest, clove, dried lavender, spearmint, basil, rosemary, vanilla bean, fennel, and parsley. Place on your glowing charcoal briquette and inhale the smoke. Visualize it warming you from the inside, soothing fears, worries, and any seasonal depression.

The incense may then be walked throughout your home to revitalize your living space and clear away any negative energy.

Communicating Your Needs
February 12, 2020 by Charlynn Walls

Communication is essential in dealing with those in our lives and also when working with deities to create change in ourselves. However, it can be difficult to clearly communicate our needs.

Today is a Wednesday, which is a good day for communication. Wear blue to increase the chances that what you are communicating will be heard and well received, and place a blue stone in your pocket. Prior to meeting with the person or group you want to communicate with, hold the stone and say:

Hear my words and let it convey
all that I have to say.

Finally, sit down with the individual or group you need to speak with. Take your time with the conversation and know you will be heard.

Body Lovin’
February 11, 2020 by Melissa Tipton

Sit in a comfortable position and place your hands over your heart. Close your eyes and connect with your heartbeat, taking some time to really appreciate each beat as it circulates vital energy throughout your body. Send love to your heart. Then move your hands to different areas of your body, letting your intuition guide you. Pause at each one, sending love and giving thanks. Perhaps you thank your ribs for protecting your lungs, your hair for allowing you to feel the breeze, your feet for carrying you where you want to go.

Awareness and love-infused energy are incredibly healing, so use this time to shower your body with wellness. If you feel drawn to specific areas, ask if they have any messages for you while you infuse them with love and appreciation. This is a wonderful practice to do regularly but especially when you’re feeling disconnected from or out of balance in your body.

Electrical Gratitude Spell
February 10, 2020 by Cerridwen Iris Shea

Edith Clarke was born on this day in 1883. She was the first woman to earn a master of science degree in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She also worked as a “human computer” and invented the Clarke calculator, which solved equations dealing with long-distance electrical transmissions. Electricity is connected to the element of fire.

For this spell, you will need:
* 4 quarter candles in holders
* Matches
* Personal energy

Light the quarter candles. Cast a circle by cupping your hands in front of you, imagining a sphere of light. Open your hands and arms wide, imagining it encompassing your entire living space, including the attic and/or basement.

Walk through your home deosil (clockwise), placing your hands on every device that uses electricity and on every switch plate, saying:

Thank you, Edith and electricity,
for improving my quality of
life in so many ways.

Ground the energy when you’ve completed your circuit by placing your palms on the ground. Imagine any excess energy draining into the earth. Imagine the circle fading into the earth with it. Then extinguish the quarter candles.

This can be done seasonally or annually, as needed.

Heartwings Love Notes 918: Something from the Oven

Heartwings says, “Love is the seasoning that makes food taste the best.”

There was an advertising phrase that went, “Nothing says loving like something from the oven…” however, I think the advertising agency had it backward. It’s the love in the preparation that does this. The oven only helps, as do the ingredients, preferably as clean and fresh as possible. Love helps us to choose them, as well as to guide the utensils used in the preparation. Furthermore, the focus of the mind is an important ingredient as well. If I am angry or upset when I am preparing food, it could affect the way it tastes as well as the way it is digested. Though I can’t prove it, it’s my belief that thoughts and feelings can be powerful in their effect on food.

A study of this potential would make an interesting experiment for a science project, though it could be difficult to set up. I know only that I really enjoy cooking. Though I’ve never had any courses or training for it and am completely self-taught, I get great praise from those who enjoy my cooking. I remember one person saying, “This must be Tasha’s kitchen because it smells so good.” Another time, I had prepared a tropical entrée made with bananas with other ingredients, baked inside their skins. When I stopped one guest from cutting into his, he said, “Oh, I thought if you had cooked it, I could eat it.” I laughed and thanked him.

One of the most cherished comfort food desserts is bread pudding. According to the internet, sometime in the 11th or 12th centuries, a frugal cook somewhere in Europe needed to use up their stale bread and began thinking up ways to do it. Perhaps instead the cook needed a dessert and had only stale bread, eggs and milk to go with it. Be that as it may, bread pudding has become a staple food. Once called “Poor Man’s Pudding,” it is said to be served in upscale restaurants as well as homes all over the world. Many of the recipes for it call for some form of fat. My recipe omits this ingredient and I don’t think the calories or the taste of it will be missed. Feel free to experiment, I still do. You can butter the bread first if you wish.

The recipe I have evolved from making it often is simple, and we eat it all the time. You do not have to wait until the bread is stale, though of course that is a good use for any you might have. Preheat the oven to 350. Grease a 1 ½ or 2-quart covered casserole. Put a pan of water the casserole will fit in into in the oven. Begin with 2 cups torn up bread-around 4 to 6 slices. I use a raisin bread and it’s on the small side. Sprinkle on ½ cup sugar and ½ to 1 cup raisins if not using raisin bread. Beat up 2 eggs and 2 cups any kind of milk. Add 1 plus teaspoon vanilla and 1 plus teaspoon cinnamon and beat again. Pour over bread and stir to combine well. Place covered casserole in the oven in the pan prepared with water. Bake 1 hour, remove cover and bake to brown for 15 or so minutes. It tastes best the next day when flavors have developed.

May your recipes all be praiseworthy, and your love enhance all you prepare.

Blessings and best regards, Tasha Halpert

PS Do you have a special recipe to share with me? How do you make your bread pudding if you do? I’d love to know. Your responses and emails make my day. Please write me with any questions or comments at tashahal@gmail.com.

What’s Up With Your Third Eye Chakra?

Physical location: In the center of your brow
Color: Indigo
Element: Light

The Third Eye Chakra is one of the most powerful energy sources when we are talking about Chakras. This little guy determines your intuition and your alignment with the Universe. No wonder it’s in an important nerve network center! Besides when you think about it when you see things on a bigger scale, such as the alignment with the Universe you can’t help but notice that it eases things when it comes to seeing the bigger picture in life itself.
When energy flows properly through the Third Eye Chakra you have trust in your gut feeling, you are adept at picking up signs and you plan according to your greatest goals. All this means that you are raising your positive vibrations and that you will have quick and easy manifestation Experiences when it comes to the Law of Attraction.

But as you might already be guessing, with great power comes great responsibility! When energy isn’t flowing in the right way it could raise various issues. Some of those are:

” Lack of faith in your purpose
” Feeling pointless
” Indecisiveness
” Finding your work or life insignificant
” Paranoia
” Headaches (including migraines)
” Eye discomfort
” Back and leg pain
” Sinus pain

If you have noticed any of these you already know how to fix it. Just pay special attention to the indigo energy center in your next meditation session.

Life
By Madisyn Taylor

All the situations in our lives, from the insignificant to the major, teach us exactly what we need to be learning.

Many of us long to find a spiritual teacher or guru. We may feel unsure of how to practice our spirituality without one, or we may long for someone who has attained a higher level of insight to lead the way for us. Some of us have been looking for years to no avail and feel frustrated and even lost. The good news is that the greatest teacher you could ever want is always with you–that is your life.

The people and situations we encounter every day have much to teach us when we are open to receiving their wisdom. Often we don’t recognize our teachers because they may not look or act like our idea of a guru, yet they may embody great wisdom. In addition, some people teach us by showing us what we don’t want to do. All the situations in our lives, from the insignificant to the major, conspire to teach us exactly what we need to be learning at any given time. Patience, compassion, perseverance, honesty, letting go–all these are covered in the classroom of the teacher that is your life.

We can help ourselves to remember this perfect teacher each day with a few simple words. Each morning we might find a moment to say, “I acknowledge and honor the teacher that is my life. May I be wise enough to recognize the teachers and lessons that I encounter today, and may I be open to receiving their wisdom.” We might also take some time each day to consider what our lives are trying to teach us at this time. A difficult phase in your relationship with your child may be teaching you to let go. The homeless person you see every day may be showing you the boundaries of your compassion and generosity. A spate of lost items may be asking you to be more present to physical reality. Trust your intuition on the nature of the lesson at hand, work at your own pace, and ask as many questions as you want. Your life has all the answers.

Daily Divine: Why Soul Mates Are Karmic

We all have deep karma with many people in this lifetime.

We might call these karmic crossings, or say we have karma with a person, or in cases of love, we might say someone is our soul mate or even our twin flame.

The thing to know is this: just because you have karma with someone, does not need you are meant to spend your whole life together.

Karma means soul lessons learned over time.
Karma doesn’t mean put a ring on it—or whatever phrase you might use to talk about commitment.

Instead, we are here to work with each other, until we complete our karma—our soul lessons—together. That means:

• When we complete our soul lessons, it’s normal for the relationship to end.
• If we are so dysfunctional we can’t work on our soul lessons, it’s normal for the relationship to end—we’ll pick up those soul lessons in the next lifetime.
• When we can cooperate with someone, we can work on our karmic lessons for many years, even a lifetime.

If you are looking at someone as a possible soul mate, look past the ideas of how similar you are, or how you’re “twin flames”. Look instead at your ability to work with this person, on the karmic lessons you’re learning.

To work with someone at the deepest level requires consideration, co-operation, vulnerability, safety, transparency and respect. Those are the characteristics to look for, when you seek your soul mate.

Much love,
SARA

Walking Through History
February 16, 2020 | Sue Vincent

Walking through history

We were out before daylight again, the dog and I. In spite f the storms, wind and rain, there are daffodils in flower and everywhere there are signs of spring. While the human half of this pre-dawn duo cowered gratefully in an overlarge coat, the smaller, but more energetic half bounded along joyfully, breathing steam like a miniature dragon. A resilient creature, impervious to the rain in, I realised, a resilient landscape.

Instead of our usual walk through the fields, and because I needed to call at the village shop, we returned to old haunts and walked down the lane towards the hamlet of Wormstone, so tiny it gets a mere one-liner in Wikipedia. Parish records indicate the name is derived from the Old English for Wærmund’s farm, but I have always preferred to wonder if there was an older, more interesting story of dragons and sacred stones behind the name. And why not? Man has always dreamed and wondered.

Still, even the name Wærmund takes the history back well over a thousand years, and I crossed the path of the old Roman road as I walked, taking history back even further, catching a brief glimpse of the site of the Iron Age remains in the fields beyond. Prehistoric flint tools have been found here, and human occupation seems to have been a constant in the area. There is even archaeological evidence of a vineyard under the site of the school, which, on this cold and wintry morning, seems rather bizarre, though gardeners still tended their allotments alongside the site until work began on the new houses that are being constructed.

To the casual observer, there is no evidence of this history. Few of the villagers seem to be aware of the long story of their home and the changes wrought by man are overlooked unless they are obvious… and then we simply accept them as part of the landscape. It does not take very long for life to move history forward or for Nature to colonise and conceal the traces of human habitation, folding a green counterpane around our passing.

The dog does not ruminate on her place in history. Her attention is immediate, especially when the jewel colours of a pheasant stands bright against the green or the red kite calls from the air. I huddle in my fur-lined coat and watch instinct take over as she freezes into the classic setter stance and I cannot help but smile at the simplicity of her joy in her futile pursuit of winged creatures.

We are, after all, such small creatures. Our individual lives insignificant when compared to the slow life of a stone or the majesty of a mighty oak. There are ancient trees in the landscape here, beneath whose boughs lovers have met for centuries. Streams whose waters have run through the chalk to the rivers and seas, rising to the heavens before falling again to give life to the ground.

Every life matters, every life has its place in the pattern of this rich tapestry. We matter to ourselves and to each other, to those we love and who care for us, to those affected by our actions or our work. We matter in the grand scheme, because without each and every life the design would be incomplete and different. Imperfect.

Insignificant as we seem, every single one of us changes the world every day by the choices we make and the actions we take. We can change it for the better or for the worse, but change it we do. No matter how small the arena in which we feel we live, the effect we have on those around us and our immediate environment is real.

As a race, a species, we have deliberately altered the face of the planet more visibly than any other species, adapting it to our needs. Our actions have wide-ranging consequences for the lives of the other creatures with whom we share this world. Even the least of us can reach out across the globe with the technologies at our fingertips.

As individuals, we are not responsible for humanity’s collective past, but we hold its future in our hands. We are responsible for the mark each of us leaves as a footnote in history, even if our individual stories are neither written nor remembered but fade like the morning mist wraiths in the sun. The mark we leave on the greater landscape of life, no matter how faint, is indelible.

Color
By Madisyn Taylor

Color has the ability to trigger our emotions, affect the way we think and act, and influence our attitudes.

When we enter a room or see an object for the first time, our minds register its color before any other detail. The colors our eyes can perceive are like words that form a subtle language of mood, energy, and insight. Color can exert a gentle effect on the mind and the body, influencing our dispositions and our physical health. Color has the ability to trigger our emotions, affect the way we think and act, and influence our attitudes. You unconsciously respond to the color of the walls in your home, your car, your clothing, and the food you eat based on your body’s natural reactions to certain colors and the psychological associations you have formed around them. The consequences of the decision to paint a room or wear a specific article of clothing therefore goes beyond aesthetics.

The colors you encounter throughout your day can make you feel happy or sad, invigorate you or drain your vitality, and even affect your work habits. Throughout history, cultures spread over many different parts of the globe have attributed varying meanings to different colors. In China, blue is associated with immortality, while people in the Middle East view blue as a color of protection. There is also evidence that human beings respond to color in a very visceral way. Red excites us and inflames our passions. Too much red, however, can make us feel overstimulated and irritated. Pink tends to make people feel loved and protected but also can cause feelings of lethargy. Yellow represents joy or optimism and can energize you and help you think more clearly. Bright orange reduces depression and sadness. Blue and green are known to inspire peaceful feelings, and people are often able to concentrate better and work in rooms painted in soft blues and greens. The darker tones of both colors can make you feel serious and introspective.

There are ways to integrate color into your life that go beyond picking the hues of your décor and your wardrobe. You can meditate with color by concentrating on the colors that make you feel peaceful or using a progression of colors to symbolize a descent into a relaxed state. Color breathing involves visualizing certain colors as you in inhale and exhale. Choose to surround yourself with the colors that you are attracted to and make you feel good, and you can create an environment that makes you feel nurtured, peaceful, and uplifted.

Aries
Personal theme: I am!!
Fire & cardinal sign: March 21 — April 19

Your horoscope for this week:

After weeks of enforced patience, your ruler Mars moves to accent the structure of your life, kick-starting a cycle of change. While some matters may be genuinely urgent, review plans before you take action. Circumstances have changed, some recently. Also, your own priorities are shifting swiftly and will over the coming days. The questions you ask and answers you get help ensure you avoid problems later.

Friendship and group activities will keep you positive. If you haven`t had a lot of time for the people in your life who matter most to you, now is the time to make socialising a higher priority. Whatever your plans, make sure your loved ones are included. Before taking on anything new, settle outstanding bills and paperwork. Once you get everything up to date, you`ll be ready for some great opportunities that are on the way.

Mercury turns retrograde on Monday. After a day of some confusion, you may feel the need to retreat. A strong possibility is that a colour scheme, style or presentation isn`t quite right. By midweek though you could make considerable improvement. You`re probably right to take a pause a moment and reflect. Though Aries has a reputation for being impulsive and yes, sometimes rash decision-making, there are times when you use that energy to call a halt and demand review. That`s precisely where you may be at the start of this week. By doing so you could also gain enormous respect from someone who`s already seen your potential, has had misgivings because in the past when you`ve tended to rush things, but is now seeing ability to assess and regroup before moving on.

Taurus
Personal theme: I have!!
Earth & fixed sign: April 20 — May 20

Your horoscope for this week:

You`re in a period of exploration and personal growth. Interesting as what you`re learning may be, you`d rather make a plan, so you know what`s next. However, this is about new ideas, places and possibly a major shift in your goals. Decisions may seem urgent, but would actually hold you back. For now, focus on what you`re discovering, who you`re meeting and intriguing, if unexpected, options.

Plans you are making with new friends will liven up your life. While you are having fun, an old friend will leave your social circle. Don`t start blaming yourself for their departure. They were already planning to move on. Taking on new responsibilities will be lots of fun. Your boss appreciates your skills and sharp intellect but a jealous colleague will give you a hard time after you land a lucrative work assignment.

Mercury turns retrograde on Monday extending its stay in Pisces one of the Water signs and just two signs away from your own. It may be time to review the groups and associations you belong to. It could be that they are presently more than a little disorganised and confused as to which way they`re going. It might also be that there is hope that you will take the lead. You`d likely be right to take some time to think about this. True, your vision of how things could be may be just what`s needed. You know far better than most, the practical steps that will need to be taken. You might also need to reassure someone who is so preoccupied with difficulties that they can`t yet see these as an obstacle course that can be overcome. It could be argued that it is presently your mission to educate them and convince them that with new plan and strategy much can yet be achieved.

Gemini
Personal theme: I think!!
Air sign: May 21 — June 20

Your horoscope for this week:

Although every sign is influenced by Mercury`s retrograde cycle, the fact it`s your ruling planet means you could finally tackle certain doubts you usually ignore. True, the idea of delving into these is unappealing. Still, not only is it unlikely you can ignore them, what you learn will both explain, and help you overcome, obstacles or issues you thought you`d just have to live with.

New commitments you take on now will be of a personal rather than professional nature. You`re thinking about making some changes which makes this a good time to clear any clutter. Be methodical and tackle one task at a time. Your partner is preoccupied with their own concerns. They haven`t forgotten all about you even if it feels that way.. If you`re feeling lonely or neglected, accept an invitation to a party and you will meet some interesting people.

Your ruling planet turns retrograde on Monday and at the very apex of your solar chart. View this as a pause moment. Yes, you could tune into so many different frequencies that you are left confused as to which way to go. Rather than take any random direction, perhaps you might consider pulling into the side and looking carefully at a map. It could be argued that over the next few days would be the optimum time to discuss your career with an adviser. Review is most likely essential. A further possibility is being asked to consider a partnership. Again, you`d be right to be wary. It`s not that this is a bad thing: but you`re probably right, in that there needs to be an agreed contract and yes, maybe a trial period.

Cancer
Personal theme: I feel!!
Water & cardinal sign: June 21 — July 22

Your horoscope for this week:

Once you understand you`re in an unsettled period and that, mostly, decisions are up to others, you`ll stop struggling to organise plans. Instead, focus on decluttering your life of everything from unrewarding passions to plans that are unlikely to work out. This clears the way for the new. While some of what`s next is clear, what`s least expected could turn out best in the long run.

Entering a partnership can be rewarding if you choose the right person. Joining forces with someone you hardly know could cause problems. Ask plenty questions before making an important decision and stay alert to the motives of other people. Behind someone`s charm, they may have underhanded plans in mind. When it comes to travel and long-term goals, you have several things working in your favour. There are many choices ahead. Will you choose predictability or mystery and excitement?

Mars has now entered your opposite sign and yes, you could feel that others are pushing you. The fact that Mercury is also turning retrograde in another of the Water signs suggests that at least for the first half of this week you could feel pushed but still not know which direction you are intended to take. In short, at least at the start of this week, it may be a confusing time. Before the weekend, and as it becomes clearer that review of previous decisions is well underway, your confidence should grow. Indeed, by the time that Jupiter and Neptune come to brilliant aspect you should feel much reassured. Venus is crossing the apex of your solar chart. Career wise, the fact that things aren`t smooth should not be taken as an indicator of headwinds that delay progress, but taking into account both Mercury and Mars` positions, the need to alter speed and review plans.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——- —— —– —- — — –

Leo
Personal theme: I will!!
Fire & fixed sign: July 23 — August 22

Your horoscope for this week:

The range of practical issues and obligations to others you`re facing is no surprise, although you`ve been hoping they could wait. Not only is that impossible, you`ll soon realise how much you`re learning from even seriously dull tasks or individuals. They`re introducing you to new places, people or even helping you replace outdated enthusiasms with activity or alliances as new as they are exciting.

A past mistake needs to be rectified. You owe your partner an apology. Don`t skirt around the issue as making excuses will worsen the situation. Admit that you were wrong and you will be forgiven. Once you`ve decided on a future goal, you will pour all your energy into it. Friends and colleagues respect how you are taking your responsibilities so seriously. They will even find ways of helping you if you let them.

As of Monday, Mercury turns retrograde in another of the Water signs. Think of this as a fire hose. The fact that this is a direct hit on one of the key financial zones of your chart suggests that you could spring an energy leak. Think about that for a moment. Money is just energy. If you`re emotionally exhausted it would be understandable if you wanted to treat yourself – not necessarily a wise move if that would `break the bank`. There`s also the issue of presentation and yes, perhaps websites and design management. It could be that all this is costing more than you imagine or that negotiations are tougher than usual or, for at least the first half of the week seem totally unrealistic. All could yet resolve. It may be that you need to accept the need to re-trench, review and do much analysis before you move forward.

Virgo
Personal theme: I analyse!!
Earth sign: August 23 — September 22

Your horoscope for this week:

While there`s no avoiding this tricky period`s complications, what you learn while dealing with them will more than compensate for the effort, and patience, required. What`s more, with your ruler Mercury retrograde from Monday, minor errors will slow your pace yet also lead to amazing insights. The two secrets to dealing with this week? Forget about learning who`s to blame for problems, and take it slowly.

You`re bored with work and your usual responsibilities and feel it is time to broaden your horizons. A few of your friends and colleagues have already moved on and hearing of their success will give you the courage to try something new. Look into the options now. Relaxation will come through spending time in nature and exercising your creativity. There`s always something to be grateful for and the beauty of nature lifts your spirits.

As of Monday, Mercury turns retrograde in your opposite sign and yes, it`s quite possible that a colleague will appear to go back on their word. It could be though that they are giving out mixed signals. All could be resolved before the weekend but yes, surely not without challenge. A test for you may be to detach from what this other person is doing and focus instead on your perfect outcome. That might still be achievable; but yes, disentangling and disengaging seem to be the key words for the next couple of weeks at least. In the meantime, with Mars now moving through another of the Earth signs, your ability to focus on practicalities is much enhanced. In fact, with your drive and determination, you could shift much before the weekend.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——- —— —– —- — — –

Libra
Personal theme: I balance!!
Air & cardinal sign: September 23 — October 22

Your horoscope for this week:

True, you`re in a cycle of dramatic change and growth. If you were in charge, you`d ensure things go smoothly; but you`re not and, often, must leave things to those whose approach is chaotic. Tempting as it is to hint at ways to deal with these, busy yourself elsewhere. Several dull but increasingly pressing matters need your attention. Once you`re actually involved, you`ll find it amazingly rewarding.

The tension between you and a close friend can no longer be ignored. You aren`t getting on with each other anymore and you need to summon the courage to face the truth. People do grow apart as they follow their separate interests. Although you will be sad to say goodbye, you aren`t meant to be together now. Someone in the family will make a foolish blunder. Eventually the drama will die down and you might even look back and laugh about it all.

It would be understandable given Mercury`s retrograde status from Monday, if your routine were disturbed by matters quite out of your control. It could be that these are health-related. It`s not necessarily your own health that could be cause for concern either: it may be that you cover for a colleague unable to complete a task as had been hoped. Yet your contribution could be just what`s needed. Yes, by Wednesday you might feel trapped and mired down by a sea of paperwork. Yet before the weekend, and noting that Mars moving through another of the Cardinal signs, and moving toward excellent aspect with Uranus, you could yet break free. The potential for moving one of your own goals forward is considerable. The art this week may be to not allow your scales to tip too far in the wrong direction leaving you in negative mode and unable to seize the opportunities that should present before Friday.

Scorpio & Ophiuchus
Personal theme: I desire!!
Water & fixed signs: October 23 — November 21

Your horoscope for this week:

It`s not that you`ve been secretive. You`ve sidestepped certain matters either because they`ve no relevance to crucial issues or, alternatively, their complexities mean they`d require special attention. Whatever your views, these are bound to come to light, probably because of the minor errors triggered by Mercury`s retrograde cycle, from Monday. Surprising as it may be, the more that`s revealed, the simpler life will become.

Friends and workmates will be taken in by a newcomer`s charm and flattery. You aren`t fooled by their word of praise and the many promises they are making. The proof of anyone`s intentions lie in their actions and not their words. If they`re genuine, time will tell. You`re setting your sights high and intend to focus on one goal until you reach this aim. If it takes longer than expected, that`s fine. You will be happy with minor gains.

Mercury turns retrograde in another of the Water signs on Monday. That, together with Mars` (one of your ruling planets move into Capricorn), suggests it might not be a bad idea to review investments. Investments of course covers far more than just money. It may be appropriate to consider how you spend your leisure time and whether or not this balances work demands. Some subtle alterations could make considerable difference. Given your high degree of sensitivity, you might also be aware that others are in near panic mode by midweek. The realisation that their goals are unrealistic could be most unsettling to them. One of your gifts may be to anchor them. A significant healing process at some many different levels should begin midweek and not at all impossible that the challenges of Monday will have disappeared entirely by Friday.

Sagittarius
Personal theme: I see!!
Fire sign: November 22 — December 21

Your horoscope for this week:

Recently, life`s been full of twists and turns, some thrilling, others less so. However, the swift pace has prevented you dealing with practicalities, from finances to lasting plans. Now, suddenly, these need attention. Although some insist details are vital, your instinct to focus on the big picture aren`t just wise, with the situation still in flux, this is about getting things organised, not detailed arrangements.

You have more control over your destiny than you realise. New experiences will make you more independent. Standing firm in your choices could also make a difference to your relationships as people show you a new respect. Ignoring a problem will not make it go away. Hire a professional to deal with a faulty plumbing or electrical appliance. Their fee may seem high but it will save you a lot of inconvenience in the long run.

As you know, yours is one of the Fire signs and fire can go from dying ember to raging furnace. With Mercury turning retrograde in Mutable and Water sign, Pisces, and drawing attention to the very base of your solar chart, it could easily feel as though your flames are being doused. Lack of resources could be an issue. It might also be necessary to plug a leak. At a slightly different level, you could choose to pay a large deposit in order to secure better discount. Either way, attention to the detail here will surely be essential; and yes, there may be moments midweek when you feel disheartened. The fact that your fire is weak might also be indicative of your physical system requiring attention. It may be that you are depleted in minerals and vitamins and that this too requires attention. The good news is that promising aspects building towards the weekend suggest that with these are addressed, your energy levels and finances can yet be restored.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——- —— —– —- — — –

Capricorn
Personal theme: I use!!
Earth & cardinal sign: December 22 — January 19

Your horoscope for this week:

Since the new year, you`ve learnt a lot but achieved frustratingly little. However, the fiery Mars`s move to accent the structure of your life and your goals, both short term and long range, changes everything. The resulting insights won`t just be handy, as circumstances shift and options arise, they`ll be crucial. For now, explore. If you must commit to plans, ensure it`s understood they`re tentative.

A change of schedule will be stimulating. If one method does not work, try another. Experimenting with different techniques will cause a breakthrough.. Whatever goal you set yourself, you will be determined to succeed. Being able to anticipate your partner`s thoughts will add spice to your relationship. This union is a source of emotional strength and making plans together will be exciting. Are you single? You could meet someone special at a religious, educational or cultural gathering.

As of Monday, Mercury turns retrograde in Pisces. It might then seem that others are either going back on their word, or are completely unsure as to direction. Presentation issues may be at the heart of this issue and yes, this will likely be quite exasperating. Correcting other people`s errors will doubtless take time that you feel could be spent more fruitfully elsewhere. The good news however is that all this will surely draw attention to your expertise and even before the weekend put you central to discussions about the next phase of a project. With Mars now moving through your sign too, and yes, though you might need to fight every inch of the way, it`s probable that you will indeed be in leadership role and arguably building something remarkable to add to your CV.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——- —— —– —- — — –

Aquarius
Personal theme: I know!!
Air & fixed sign: January 20 — February 18

Your horoscope for this week:

Good fortune can appear in many ways; and for you, at the moment, they`ll be as unexpected as, often, they`re unsettling. Worse, decisions aren`t in your hands. Yet, what`s happening is so thrilling that, despite your misgivings, you`re urged to say at least a tentative `yes` now and think about the details later. Because this is just the beginning, you`ve lots yet to experience, encounter and learn.

A friend will make a surprising announcement. They are about to embark on an adventurous project. It might seem as if they`re being irrational but keep your thoughts to yourself. They`ve made a decision and they aren`t going to change their mind. A group project you`re in charge of no longer interests or excites you. You`ve gone as far as you can go and you`re ready to hand the reins over to someone else. There is someone who is eager to take over from where you leave off.

Mercury turns retrograde in neighbouring Pisces and for you, it might seem as though you`ve sprung a financial leak. At a slightly different level, you may feel that others are talking about you – but inaccurately.. It will likely take some days to put this right. With regard to financial mishap, this is perhaps something that can be repaired before the end of the week. Issues are likely to be around water or gas appliances either of which might require repair. A further feature may be the need to review transport arrangements. It is quite possible that the costs here are pushing ever higher and that better control is needed. Mars though has now entered neighbouring Capricorn – marking the start of a six-week period when you could address long-term savings. In short, and boring as it might seem, focusing on minutiae could yet bring reward.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——- —— —– —- — — –

Pisces
Personal theme: I believe!!
Water sign: February 19 — March 20

Your horoscope for this week:

Others are telling you planning ahead is crucial; but you`re overwhelmed with your own ideas and several appealing options. Actually, for now, ensure whatever you organise is flexible. This ensures you`re free to respond to your own insights, and the amazing ideas or offers triggered by the Pisces New Moon on 23 February. Only after that will circumstances or your own priorities be clear.

You`re trying to talk a friend into going along with your plans and ideas. If this is something they clearly don`t want to do, respect their wishes. You can continue on your own without them having to hold your hand all the time. Someone in the family is deliberately keeping information to themselves. This could stop you taking advantage of a golden opportunity. If you suspect someone of being devious, trust your instincts. Find ways around the barriers they are erecting.

Mercury turns retrograde in your sign on Monday. This illusion doesn`t happen every year; marking 2020 as special for Pisces. As you might imagine, Mercury`s retrograde status implies the need to go back. Think of this as being repair time. This would apply equally to relationships, health, finance and every area of life. The good news is that your two ruling planets, Jupiter and Neptune, come to the next phase of their cycle toward the end of this week. By taking early review it seems entirely possible that you could `turn your ship around` and effect damage limitation. Following this, a series of promising aspects suggest you will soon be pushing forward even whilst making revision to your schedule. Key in all this will surely be presentation and convincing others that you are on the case. If you can do this and reassure those born under Virgo and Sagittarius especially that you are focused, then you should also enjoy considerable support..
