As I sit here writing this month’s Astroflash I am horrified once again by the continuance of mass murder, gun violence in this country. I am sure that my thoughts are like most of yours ,“Why is this happening why is it allowed to continue without major shifts in the gun laws and what will it take to stop this continual plague on humanity.”
From there I find myself wringing my hands over the fact the people of color continue to get the short end of the stick as well as the hard end of the stick when it comes it injustice by rogue police and injustice when and if the crimes of the police and administrators even are allowed to come to light.
We are witnessing the death throes of the Patriarchy but damn must it be so bloody? I guess the answer is yes for now anyway which makes me want to crack open the astrology program to see how the planets particularly Mars, Uranus and Pluto are effecting our world.
Actually those planets will be appearing more strongly in a few days but right now the Moon is opposing Neptune which is squaring Saturn creating what is called a T Square, a very potent aspect. The Neptune effect I think is part of what is clouding the whole event. Nobody seems to know or understand what and why this event in San Bernadino happened which is par for the course with Neptune.Because Neptune was opposing the Moon I can bet that the emotions of the shooters were running high but not very clear. perhaps he had gotten his feelings hurt one too many times by people who didn’t like his culture, not fitting in,[Saturn] or that he was too deeply influenced by a radical element of terrorists.Clearly with the amount of arms and explosives that the couple had amassed this was a time bomb just waiting to go off and they planned to use those weapons.. The question is why now and where is this leading and how do we prevent it from recurring. The Senate had the opportunity to change policies about gun control today, a day after this tragedy and all the Rethuglicans but one refused to close the loophole that would keep people on the no fly list from getting guns.People if you think those people are voting to protect you clearly they are not.
Neptune on the other hand can be used to create a false flag event where one thing is created to disguise or take away the attention from another. Neptune also can portend religious motivation and inspiration and Jihad is certainly a construct of religious fanaticism. On the brighter side of how Neptune can work and I would like to think that this will actually bring more peace and understanding. There is a huge outpouring in San Bernadino from the largest Mosque who are standing up against the violence and are greatly saddened by what they see as their holy path being tarnished by those who were simply killers and this is happening in places all around the US as peace loving Muslims do not want to be confused with terrorists and see this horror create anti Muslim persecution.
It is high time that politicians on both sides of the aisle commit to creating a safe world for us all and for the people to demand and hold their feet to the fire until they do. We have had 355 mass shootings in 336 days. If that does not outrage you then if not now..then when? As I look ahead at the aspects later in the week I can say this event is not over. Hopefully our efforts to vision peace and the Law Enforcement Teams will snuff these terrorists before anything else can jump off because I do believe they are not through trying between now and the 7th.
At the end of last month we had the difficult square from Saturn to Neptune and it will continue til Dec. 4 so I am repeating a revised edition of my remarks from last month about this challenging time.
With Saturn squaring Neptune til December 4th we are going to all need to hold corporate feet to the fire regarding any type of pollution,toxic spills,GMOs.Fracking, Big Pharm and in short any of the myriad ways that the powers that shouldn’t be can pollute and destroy our water,air,land, animals and life in general. Tall order for sure but a battle that we cannot afford to lose. The Neptune affect can make it very difficult to know what is true and who can be trusted. Some of it can be patently obvious but we need to have all three of our eyes wide open and above all trust our gut. Heightened awareness needn’t create paranoia or negative thinking. Elevate and educate and of course Raise the Vibe for the Tribe
I must include that at this time it will be more important than ever to keep hope alive. With Saturn’s heavy hand challenging Neptune’s spirit or flight of fantasy life can seem more frustrating or depressing than it really is. Challenge what appears to be Reality!
Dec 5 and 6, the Moon conjoins Mars and squares Pluto and opposes Uranus. In my opinion this weekend has the potential to be incredibly volatile. so those of you who do energy work and prayers and the like I would suggest that we get busy and try to squelch the desire for those so inclined to wreak havoc and visualize World Peace. It is incumbent for as many of us who can to create a strong strong vision of a peaceful, creative genuine Peace as we used to say in the sixties, By Any Means Necessary! As I am reviewing this post I can hear the bombers going through their maneuvers in the distance at a local base so do not think for a minute that the powers that shouldn’t be aren’t sharpening their sabers in secret.
While Mars occupies the “peaceful” sign of Libra we can see more of an outcry for equality then at any other time.Some of this is wonderful as we are experiencing the exposure of many crimes committed against people of color, women and gays coming to light.It does my heart good to see rogue cops being charged by their brothers or the law for their lawlessness. Seeing women standing up all over the world and not tolerating being 2nd or 3rd class citizens gives me a thrill.Bill Cosby’s wife is now being deposed as 6 or 7 women prosecute him and may finally see some Justice.
The down side of this call for Justice, and there is a down side, is that it can create an incendiary effect in the hearts of those who see themselves as being oppressed which can destabilize world treaties whether fair or not.Can that bring about more terrorism? Time will tell so as I said,this is a very good time to crank up your smudge bowls and prayer circles and see the planet in its pure and peaceful way for all its people, animals and land.
Mother Earth may have some ideas Herself about changing things up at this time so do keep your ears to the ground for Earth Changes as well. Ya know “As above so below!”Mars will be squaring Pluto from the 5th to the 8th so be extra careful then as those two planets can bring out the most violent and aggressive energies
Sweet Venus becomes ever more mysterious and inviting as she slides into the sign of Scorpio on the 5th as well.You may find yourself wanting to dive much deeper into the places that were heretofore hidden in your relationships or this might be a time of meeting a compelling individual.Be aware and trust your gut over your compulsions.
Mercury enters practical Capricorn on the 10th and Venus gets even more mystical and divine as she trines Neptune on the 11th right before the New Moon in Sagittarius. This trine from Venus to Neptune also encourages us to open our hearts more fully. This should be a most interesting New Moon as Sagittarius encourages us to know and understand our Purpose, our mission plan and you can be sure that there will be major downloads that direct that way of thinking.
Chiron, the Planet of the Wounded Healer squares the New Moon and opposes Jupiter creating another T square but this one is in mutable signs which are a bit easier to handle. This aspect may affect economics but more especially how we feel about our place in the material world.New Moons tend to be times of new beginnings and this can be a time of reevaluating our spiritual beliefs and tossing those that no longer resonate with the new beings we are becoming. We are at the tail end of the Piscean Age and as we shift into more Aquarian Age sensibilities we must take on a stance of individuality rather than the group mind that has been such a hallmark of the past 2000 years or so. To bring in that Aquarian energy even more to the mix Mars forms an exact opposition to Uranus shortly before the New Moon giving us the impetus to more truly be ourselves
.We are all moving through a time of most profound and dynamic change and we simply will not be the same people we were last year. This is true in every aspect of life and many of you are seeing that consciously and for some that realization is coming more slowly either way profound change is here to stay and there is no winding back the tape so to speak.
The weekend of the 12th and 13th offers a time of heightened creativity and deeply felt emotions with the Moon conjoining Pluto and asteroid Pallas Athena. On December 22 the Winter Solstice begins in the Northern Hemisphere and this is a time around the world where the concept of keeping that sacred Fire burning through a darker time is practiced. During this period of Fire festivals, we use this element especially to clear away that which impedes our growth from the past so that we can spring forward to enjoy the abundance that we desire to manifest in the future. Solstice literally means Sun be still.Winter Solstice has always been a favorite Holy Day Ritual as the Yule logs burn warm into the Longest Night and we welcome the return of the SUN full of Holy Day cheer and renewed hope and inspiration. Those who practice the Earth Religions globally have honored the Return of the Sun in so many cultures. Because of this symbology Christianity was able to bring in the birth of the Son giving the holiday a radical mastectomy so that it could work in the new Patriarchal system. Jews celebrating Hanukah also celebrate the keeping of the flame as their holy day refers to a magical time when the oil in their temple was sustained beyond reason. So whatever your belief, it is time for all of us to shine our light brightly through this darker season and bring the warmth of fire into our world on all levels.

This year Xmas and the Full Moon converge on December 25 in the sign of Cancer. This could really bring in all the warmth and family cheer that we hope for on this special day as long as we honor and balance both the Solar and Lunar energies which can at times represent differing demands on life.The Cancer Moon wants that serene time with friends and family sitting around the table with good food and some eggnog while the Capricorn Sun can be focused on business and marketing. Perhaps both needs can blend on this day as that is how we achieve balance sometimes on the other hand when the issues are so diametrically opposed it can be better to gain balance by exploring each extreme thus giving full attention to each one which is often more satisfying. Given the fact that the planet Uranus is just stationing on that day and then turning direct on the 27th expect the unexpected and try to add something unique to your plans for the Holidaze.
Uranus moving forward can bring out the spirit of rebellion so on the personal side, if you haven’t defined yourself for yourself yet be prepared to do just that with no apologies and you will feel the joy of liberation in whatever sphere of life that manifests. We may also see that spirit of rebellion manifest outwardly with more political upsets in this and other countries. Surprise surprise wonder if folks will finally dump the Trump?
On the 28th Mercury and Mars will square each other which can bring a day of arguments and overall grumpiness and false starts so save yourself some trouble and don’t sweat the small stuff. Shortly there after Venus moves into to fun loving Sagittarius so get ready for play in the love game.
New Years Eve could have more than a few riding the excess express so please make wise choices on this evening. With the Moon and Jupiter conjoining in Virgo many could throw caution to the wind when it comes to exceeding their limit so do be careful if you are out for the evening as there could be too many on the road who should have chosen to have designated driver.
I can’t say that I will be sorry to see 2015 in the rear view mirror as it has been a rough year for way too many. I am looking forward with great hope and enthusiasm for a much brighter year in 2016. Blessings all.
LET’S GET PERSONAL
ARIES – Yeah Uranus is moving forward and I feel renewed and revitalized. Not only do I want to be me but I even know who that is now which is kind of refreshing.Uranian energy gives me that kick in the consciousness which I need at times when life as it is seems like it is getting too stale. No one can accuse me of being too patient but sometimes my ambivalence gets in my way but not today. Going forward is the right direction now.
TAURUS – with Venus in my opposite sign Scorpio I am really feeling my juices flowing. Ya know opposites attract and that doesn’t mean I am going to run right out and find me a Scorpio however the polarity of the energies is quite stimulating and I don’t go running for anything Slow is the way I go enough said OK
GEMINI – With all the planets in mutable signs I am just spinning. It can be hard enough for me to find my center on a good day and let’s face it , there haven’t been a whole lot of good days when life has just flowed in any kind of predictable manner,not that I am hooked on predictability. I actually love not knowing what’s coming right up so in some ways I could have thrived during this bumpy ride if i could have had more fun.
CANCER – FUN! My dear Gemini friend, how does one have fun with the world going to hell in a hand basket? Even if I turn off the TV and ignore the NEWS I feel everything so its better if I actually know what is going on so I don’t personalize it.Once I know what’s up and there is something or nothing for me to do I can relax and either do it or distract myself from the stressors. Basically just put me in the water and I am good just getting a little cold for that.
LEO – Home is where the heart is and my heart is craving home these days and as a Leo the heart is the biggest part of me.Look for me as the life of the party, leading the band in the parade or the Carols in the yard or bringing the best cookies to the party. Yep that will be me. I love this season as it gives me the perfect time to express my giving nature
VIRGO – With Jupiter sitting in my sign this month and for many months how can I complain? Well of course I can it just can mean that I can complain more and about more kinds of things. OK Jupiter can always make one given to hyperbole. My perfectionism can really get the better of me now and if you think that I am hard on you, you have no idea how hard i can be on myself. I must relax and still my mind so that it doesn’t run away with the show. That can always be a challenge but with Jupiter here it is a bigger challenge.
LIBRA – Mars is really keeping me busy. I have been to 6 demonstrations this week alone and changed my Facebook picture from rainbow to Red White and Blue and started 34 petitions.I am appalled by what I see as a total disregard for Justice on so many levels. When I see a young black man getting tazed to death or a lesbian gunned down because she didn’t succumb to a man or an elephant kept by itself for 40 years in a cement walled box I just have to do something to stop the suffering to make life more FAIR.
SCORPIO – Loving Venus in my sign it allows me to go deep into the dark warm waters of my soul. I don’t need any superficial dates deep me in the deep end of the pool and never mind the life preservers I know my way around here. Intense and profound is the way I like life and love so serve me up a big slice of sensuality but don’t tell anyone as these things are better kept to myself.
SAGITTARIUS – Right before the New year Venus will be in my sign so get ready to play. I don’t take it all so seriously like Scorpio and we can travel in or out of our bodies. It’s all the same to me although i do like to get physical. Metaphysical will work as well and i am so flexible so give me a call and we can have a play date.
CAPRICORN – Pluto doesn’t play is all I got to say! Given that Pluto has been in charge of my dance card for years being the slow move that it is i is no wonder that life has been so intense. I have to say for myself I have gotten so much stronger and capable of handling stress and challenges. I never ran away from that kind of stuff anyway so you could say I have been honing my skills. Seems like my ship should be coming in sometime soon and not out somewhere stuck on a reef. I could teach a class on Handling Pluto issues at this point now there’s a good idea.
AQUARIUS -” Call out the instigators because there’s something in the air, we got to get together sooner or later because the revolution’s here and you know it’s right!“I can feel those words reverberating in my head from the early 70’s by Thunderclap Newman and I see it in the streets and the TV and I feel it in my heart..”a change is gonna come.” Guess music is moving through me these days and perhaps that vibration is the best for me to assimilate the shifts and downloads. We Aquarians feel the vibratory shifts alright.
PISCES – Yeah music is my message today and everyday and I usually want to let it get me mellow and so it does. Today I am feeling a little bit of Marley singing Get Up Stand Up ‘cause” I heard the news today oh boy” but No woman no cry ’cause everything’s gonna be alright,everything’s gonna be alright and Sade tells me she’s gonna be right by my side and I say Blessings Blessings fallin’ like rain feels like Blessings are fallin’ like Rain!

Banish Holiday Weight Gain
Spell Date: Sunday, December 6, 2015
Today, reverse the trend of holiday weight gain. Draw a warm bath. Add:
One cup Epsom salt
½ cup sea salt
¼ cup baking soda
The peels from one grapefruit, one orange, and one tangerine
Stir the water in a counterclockwise direction to dissolve the salt and release the citrus essence. Light a white candle. Stand over the water, and direct your palms toward it. Close your eyes and visualize very bright white light coming out through the palms of your hands. Say:
“Goddess Venus and Spirit of Air, I call on you! I call on your beauty, I call on your joy. May I walk with lightness and feel sustained by inspiration, nourishing breath, and healthy food choices. Please fill this water with positivity and peace. Thank you.”
Bathe for at least forty minutes, making sure to drink plenty of fresh water before and after.

Holiday Spending Spell
Spell Date: Saturday, December 5, 2015
The shopping rush is on for the holidays, and it’s easy to overspend, but this spell will help with that. You’ll need these items: snow or ice, a one-quart freezer bag, and a one dollar bill.
Place the dollar in the freezer bag as you think, I’m in control. Now pack snow or ice over the dollar as you visualize yourself putting a “freeze” on your spending. Close the bag and toss it in the freezer. When you go shopping, go with a shopping list. As you reach your spending limit, say to yourself, Freeze it. Keeping the spell in your mind as you shop will prevent overspending.
Keep your assets “frozen” until after Christmas. Then take the freezer bag from your freezer, let it thaw, remove the dollar, and pour the water outside.

As the winter holidays approach, it’s easy to get caught up in the general grouchiness and obligation energies of the season. Try to remember the joy of true giving, and take a day to give something to yourself—a real gift! Lock your doors, turn off your phone, stay off the Internet, and breathe! Deepen into meditation, and ask your most beloved deities what your spirit most needs to replenish and recharge today. Carve and anoint a candle of blessing for yourself. Be sure to add blessings of peace and health, strength and prosperity. Take a long soak in the tub or hot shower before entering the circle. Then burn the candle, saying:
“As I light this candle, so I rekindle my own inner fire and drive through rest and peace and healing.”
Then take some time to meditate on what special gift you’ll be getting for yourself this Yule, and be blessed.

Ease the Way

Misunderstandings happen at the best of times, but at the holidays they can be especially distressful. Use this stovetop-simmering potpourri to help ease nerves now and throughout the month.
Charge about ¼ cup each of the following herbs before adding them to a small saucepan of water: sweetgrass (blessings), lemon peel (courage), roses (love), lavender (peace), and cedar (purification). Allow the potpourri to simmer and scent your home. Replenish the herbs as the aroma starts to disappear.

From a distance, the details are a haze of soft lines and colors, but up close, each image is made of tiny points of color, each important to the whole composition. Sometimes we forget our worth, especially at a time of the year when everything seems so commercial. On this, Seurat’s birthday, take a moment to remember your vital place in the world.
Close your eyes and picture the universe—vast and filled with stars and planets. Now draw your focus closer: universe to galaxy, galaxy to planet… With each inward draw, recite or think this incantation:
“I am an integral part
Of an intricate universe.”
Earth… to continent… to country…to city…to street…to house… until you see yourself. Repeat the incantation whenever you need a reminder that you are wanted, needed, and loved.

gather some needles with 3 pine cones
a bit of dirt 5 stix 5 stones
bundle them with cloth tie red ribbon so tight
wish comes true tossed in Yule’s fire light…
winds blow through their needles
dance and twist in the breeze
wonderful light clean medicinal scent
the magick of pine cones
hang a branch of pine cones over the main door of your house or business to ensure continued joy within
toss a handful if pine needles into winter fires for protection
suffer with guilt?
hard time being satisified with your achievements?
a renewal of energy to rid yourself of those things by sitting quietly under a pine tree and listen closely to its sighs and its creaks
YULE REJUVENATION SOAK
3 pinches of pine needles from the ground found under a pine tree
3 sage leaf
3 bay leaf
3 rosemary sprigs
3 pinches sea salt
put the items in a piece of cheesecloth and tie the top tightly with string or cord
fill your tub
light 3 black candles
toss the cheesecloth into the running water
then dip yourself in sit back close your eyes and relax
the ingredients will cleanse and draw out all negativity that has settled within you
then pull the plug and let it all go down the drain…
did you ever walk down a tree lined street or take a walk in the woods and a pine cone hits you in the head on its way down from the branch?
well…its no accident
it is trying to tell you something
pick up the pine cone that hit you and bring it home place it in your bedroom out in the open
in a dish or bowl
give it time it will give you the answer…

Some background:
We began our rituals in January, 2012 for Step One. Each month we did a ritual for the corresponding step. The rituals were equally written by each of us. We created each ritual so it was an action of love coming from all of us. Here is a quick introduction for our book.
Peace and harmony are the cornerstones of our 12-Step rituals. Amethyst Star and I (Shahla Coyote) have been friends for many years. They met Baba Mecka a few years ago. We each realized that something was missing, something that could make the steps more viable in our lives. We all follow the Goddess path and wanted to write rituals for each step. It has been a labor of love and has allowed us to get closer to the Spirit Goddess. The three of us came together to go through each of the steps to cement with action and ritual our growth in sobriety. Our higher power includes goddesses, so it seemed natural to use ritual and different goddesses to express creatively each step in recovery.
We used the Open Steps and these rituals are not set in stone. If you feel that a different stone or god/goddess expresses more clearly your intention, by all means change the ritual to be a clear expression of yourself. Honor your sobriety by being true to what feels right to you. These rituals express an inward pull to grow in love and spirituality.
We began brainstorming the possibility of creating rituals for each of the 12 Steps. Each one of these rituals has been a beautiful way to express our commitment to that step. They have healed us in ways we can’t even begin to describe in our journey in recovery. Making the Goddess path part of our recovery has been profound. This book has truly been a labor of light and love. We hope you enjoy it and the wonderful things that may materialize as a result of these rituals.

Shamanism refers to a range of traditional beliefs and practices concerned with communication with the spirit world. The feminine form of the word is not “shamaness” but “shamanka”, however, here we will use the word “Priestess”.
Healing, gathering and growing herbs and food, keeping communities in balance, presiding over ceremonies and rites of passage, maintaining relations with the dead, teaching, ministering to those in need, communing with nature to learn her secrets ,preserving the wisdom traditions, divining the future, and drumming and dancing with Goddesses, these are feminine shamanic arts. This what you will learn or remember in our classes here!
Sisters of The Burning Branch, is our part of the “shaman’s tree”, an image found in several cultures as a symbol for mediation. The tree is seen as a being whose roots belong to the world underneath; its trunk belongs to the middle, human-inhabited world; and its top is related to the upper world.
The curriculum of Sisters of the Burning Branch, is eclectic, borrowed from the teachings of many paths, but rooted in Women’s Spirituality.
Priestess Training takes a year and day to complete, plus 3 months to earn the High Priestess cord. (four levels). We do ask for your commitment when joining. Please do not sign up if you are not committed or able to follow through. There is nothing worse for your self esteem! We try to nurture here, this defeats that purpose.
At GoddessSchool we use song and chants to raise power, using drums, tambourines or just humming along works too! We celebrate the Mother – the Full Moon – Mother Earth – Mother Nature – she is in us all – we are in her – we are one! We will learn some songs, beat the drums, howl at the Moon! We are ever changing as does the Moon – Feel the Moon – let her fill you up! Join us!
The entire fee for each level is $120 (payment plan available), sixteen lessons in each level, except the last. Tuition covers lessons, assignments and instructor feedback. In addition, students may download guided meditation exercises and be eligible for face to face Sabbats, Esbats and retreats with the Sisterhood.
