Light A Candle Today!
In many different traditions lighting a candle is a sacred action. It expresses more than words can express. It has to do with gratefulness. From time immemorial, people have lit candles in sacred places. You may want to begin or end your day by the sacred ritual of lighting a candle on this gratefulness. Or you may want to light a birthday candle for a friend. One single guideline is all you need: Slow down and do it with full attention.

Tarot Card of the Week

The card drawn for this week is the Ten of Wands – Reversed

Are you are trying to do too much by yourself? In your effort to be everything to everyone, you may have found yourself struggling under the weight of it all. Delegate and share the work – you don’t have to do it alone. And be firm in saying no to the things you know you can’t take on. It is imperative you put your self-care and personal well-being first; otherwise you’ll burn yourself out and be of no help to anyone.

This week you may feel you are carrying a heavy weight on your shoulders, but you are keeping this private and are unwilling to share your burden with others. In effect, you are pushing away the people who can help you. It may be a huge relief to you when you do share some of this burden with others, as they are ready and willing to support you.

Ask the Tarot: “Where am I taking on more responsibility than is necessary?”

September: Dancing With The Moon
by Crooked Bear Creek Organic Herbs

September begins with the echoes of a New Moon in Virgo from the end of August. We will be focused upon building something dear to our hearts. Later, a soft and dreamy Full Moon in Pisces will enchant us beneath her song on September 13th. We will end the month with a relationship-focused New Moon in Libra on September 28th. Find out how the month will affect you specifically!

You’re feeling the grind pick up, Aries, and you’ll be taking on more projects or considering how you can alter your work-life balance. You can certainly work hard and you like to see the big rewards. Use the beginning of the month to improve your employment or health to create more stability in your life. Mid-month finds you wanting to slow down, though. Take the breather while you can because career has been such a major focus for you as of late. However, your attention will be switching to important relationships come at the end of the month. If you’d like to build a closer connection with your one-and-only in business or love, be sure to do so. If you’re single and looking for someone with long-term potential, you will definitely be in luck.

There are a few times in our lives where we cross paths with a soul mate, and this will surely be one of those moments for you, Taurus. If you are taken, you may be contemplating how to bring more passion to your relationship, or if you’re single, you’re in luck to find someone who transforms your life through a new love. Be sure to circulate because romance takes initiative. Mid-month sees you being social and festive, so be sure to spend time with friends and watch how your network actually expands. An important event could pop up for you, so absolutely attend. The end of the month, though, brings you a big focus on work. If looking to improve your work life, you can do so, or dust your hands off and find something better.

Your family and home are on your mind at the beginning of September, Gemini, so be sure to tick off the boxes for anything that comes up. You may be moving or wanting to fix up your space, and if you do, you will be very happy. Mid-September sees you causing thunder in your career, though, and it is likely that you’ll receive some exciting recognition, a promotion, or an opportunity for exposure. This is a big moment, so don’t be hiding away. Finally, though, as we near the ending weeks, your romantic and creative spark is igniting so you are advised to get your passions heated. Set up some dates if single or plan some adventurous moments with your significant other. If you’re an artist, be sure to channel that muse.

Early month has you focused on how you can communicate and speak your mind, Cancer, so be sure to find new ways to improve your reach. Contracts are also favored at this time. However, mid-month we see you thinking about growing your mind even further, perhaps with academics, spirituality, or exotic experiences. Find ways to learn more about humanity at large. The end of the month, though, sees you very focused on your home and family life. This is a natural rhythm for you, though, so you’ll enjoy the extra special time.

Your income is rising rapidly, Leo, or at least the opportunity to do so! Use the first days of the month to demand your worth. However, mid-month your attention will be back upon relationships and what you give and receive. Your sensual side will certainly be peaked, so enjoy the connection if it is strong or walk away from relationships that are holding you down. The end of September, though, has your mind crackling like lighting so be sure to roar through writing and speech and the world will turn and listen.

It’s birthday season and you’re the main event at the very beginning of September! Be sure to take big steps toward all of your hopes and dreams. The Universe is smiling upon you. Mid-September, though, you will see an important relationship take focus, whether that be in love, business, or collaboration. This could be about growing closer together or going separate ways. To end the month, though, you’ll be focusing more on money and how you can increase your value. Be sure to find new opportunities to bring in income any way that you can.

The beginning of the month sees you taking a step back and relaxing because you’ve been so hard at work for so long. That’s good, though, you deserve it. Karma will also be a focus, so if you’ve done well, you should be reaping rewards, but if you’ve wronged others, it may be coming back to bite you. Mid-month will see you focusing on an important work project, so get back to the grind. If you’d like to find another job, this could be a time when you’re in luck. However, your favorite moment of the year will surely be after the New Moon on the 28th, as it is your celestial jewel opening a door to anything that is closest to your heart. Get ready for birthday season because it promises lots of fun.

Friends and social life will be as bright as the Sun at the beginning of September for you, and you deserve it! Consider how you can actually expand your network and grow closer with those who you already know. Mid-month will be dazzlingly romantic for you, though, so mingle if single or plan something special with the one who you love. A creative endeavor or child may also be important at this time. The final weeks bring you back down to the ground and you’ll be feeling the need to rest and relax. You deserve it!

Your career is causing everyone to applaud at the beginning of September, Sagittarius, and it’s about time! The doors you’ve hoped would open are finally here and if you’ve been working hard, you’ll likely see the crown passed to you. Mid-September will have you focusing on home or family, though, so be sure to allow some time if anything important pops up. However, the end of the month will be packing your calendar with important events and your social life will be roaring. You are likely to meet many new friends who will bring happiness to your life as well as grow closer with the ones you already have.

September promises excitement and adventure, so be sure to set sail toward them. The beginning of the month is challenging you to take risks and get out of your comfort zone and learn more about life and the world. You could be working on an important publishing, media, or academic project at this time or even drawn to some sort of spirituality. Around September 13th, though, you’re focusing on how you can write and speak more effectively from the heart and maybe finishing up an important communications-related project that has been affecting you since early in the year. The final weeks of the month, though, will certainly be your favorite as your career causes fireworks in the sky. Your name will be on everyone’s lips as long as you’ve been working hard for your next achievement. Something major lies ahead for you in 2020 as long as you take the challenge and snatch the crown while you can.

What you give and receive in relationships is a key theme at the start of September, Aquarius. If they are balanced, they will improve. If they are not, you may walk away. Later in the month, you’re going to be focused on your income and a financial matter, though, so be sure to welcome in the abundance or find new ways to monetize. As you close out the month, you’ll be feeling the need to expand your vision of the world, whether it be through travel, study, media, or working with people very different than you. If you do so, you’ll like where it leads.

Major partnerships in love and business are written in the stars for you, Pisces. This could be a fated time of making long-term plans, engagement, marriage or even crossing paths with a twin flame. Put yourself out there! Around September 13th, though, a Full Moon in your sign spotlights you above all others. You will see many of your most dear hopes and dreams taking focus at this time, as well as an important relationship. Embrace it! However, to end the month, you’ll again be considering your connections, but more so on what you give and receive. Find a balance that works for you.

September has arrived and will surely be one of your most favorite months of 2019 due to the sparkling and stunning arrangement of the stars above. At the end of August, we had a gorgeous New Moon in Virgo that will be spilling blessings on over into the beginning of the month. This New Moon is majestic for many reasons, particularly because nearly half of the Solar System has aligned its power behind it. Mars, ruling passion and drive, Venus, ruling money and love, and Mercury, ruling communication and the mind, all dance alongside the Sun and the Moon. This means that whatever we wish to put our minds, actions, and heart toward we are likely to see new opportunities blossom before our eyes. Even more exciting, though, is that Uranus, the planet of surprise, will be smiling on over to that celestial celebration giving us breakthroughs almost out of thin air. This is a perfect time for manifestation because the Universe is opening a massive door to you. Clear Quartz is one of the absolute best crystals to use for that, so be sure to stock your home with as many as possible and carry one for even faster results.

Virgo season is a time when we look at our lives and focus on the details. We want to build a routine that is steady and works for us — in career, health, love, and development. Take this time to truly create a plan of action that can last for a year or longer that will help you build a life of abundance.

We will have mostly blessed energies occurring this month, and some days to keep on your calendar for good news and making plans should be the 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 12, 13, 19, and 24. Consider how you can start initiatives on those days, take chances, or build prosperity. However, we do have some days that will be murkier, particularly early on because of some fuzzy energy from the planet Neptune. This mysterious and enigmatic planet is one that can bring inspiration and divine love, but it can also create illusions and fantasies. As long as you keep your wits about you and look at things from a realistic perspective, you should be fine. Some days to be a bit more cautious this month are the 4, 7, 10, 14, 21, 22, and 25. Be sure to buy a Hematite because it is a powerful grounding and protective stone.

On September 13th, we have a lovely Full Moon in Pisces. We will notice culminations at this time that we have been building since last March. Neptune will be feisty at this time, too, so just make sure you’re not wearing rose-colored glasses. Communicate from the heart but don’t get lost in a sea of fantasy. Pisces energy is dreamy, artistic, imaginative, and mystical. It is a deeply sensitive sign, focused upon transcending beyond just the physical world. Be in touch with your psychic abilities by utilizing a Blue Kyanite. This stone amplifies telepathy and intuition.

Later in the month, we will notice a big shift when Saturn, the planet of maturity and at times hardship, goes direct on the 18th. This is a big moment where we will see what we have learned since January 22nd about taking more responsibility in our lives. We are ready to incorporate this new information to advance our plans, endeavors, and relationships.

Libra season arrives on September 23rd, though, when the Sun dances on along into this festive and social sign. The Moon, too, will join the event on the 28th sparking a New Moon in this sign. Libra is a sign of diplomacy, partnership, but also pleasure, and urges us to balance our hearts and our minds. In the days following this open window, consider how you can bring more stability to your relationships or find someone who is just your type. Be certain to grab a Tiger’s Eye, as it will help you maintain your personal power in all of your connections.

September promises a great deal of progress in our lives, so be sure to seize the day. While some blessings may jump right into our laps, we must work to become the best versions of ourselves for those who we love and the world around us.

Llewellyn’s Spell-A- Day

Prosperity Tea
September 08, 2019 by Ember Grant

Mint has long been associated with wealth and prosperity. Any mint will do for this tea. You can purchase mint tea bags or make your own. Simply prepare it according to package directions, or use your own dried leaves and steep them in hot water for several minutes (depending on the desired taste), then strain. While the infusion is steeping, visualize prosperity filling your life in every way. Imagine that the leaves contain an elixir of wealth, and it seeps into the water, creating a potion for abundance. Chant these words over the liquid as it cools to your desired temperature:

“Prosperity will flow to me;
I invite it as I drink this tea.”

As you drink, imagine wealth flowing into you. See yourself enjoying the abundance you deserve.
Put Your Dream on a Shelf
September 06, 2019 by Barbara Ardinger

Sometimes, the world being the way it is, we must postpone a dream. Put it on a shelf until its proper time arrives.

Find these ingredients for this spell:
* Black and white candles
* Something to symbolize your dream (such as a picture of the car you can’t
afford or a map of Paris for the trip you can’t take yet)
* A palm-sized cardboard or wooden box with a lid
* A lucky coin (Susan B. Anthony or Sacagawea dollar)
* An agate for grounding
* You might also eat a chicken dinner and save the wishbone. Dry it and paint
it sparkly gold.

Cast your circle, light the candles, and invoke Isis and/or Osiris. Fold the picture or map and place it in your box. One by one, place the other objects in the box. Now ask for divine intervention—and patience—as you set your box on a shelf at home or in your workstation until your intuition (or an oracle like the Tarot) tells you it’s time to take it down and either burn or bury the contents. Leave it untouched and unopened until your intuition tells you to open or move it.
Balance Stones
September 07, 2019 by Blake Octavian Blair

The road through life can feel a bit bumpy at times. One source we can tap into to bring balance to ourselves is nature. Being in nature is healing in itself, bringing us back into alignment with our non-human relatives.

This spell requires you to head outdoors for a short hike. On your hike, look for a couple stones. Keep your intuitive ears open for stones that would like to work with you as allies. You’ll need two stones, one darker in color than the other. They should be small enough so you can carry them in a small bag but large enough to hold as a touchstone.

When you find your two new stone friends, give them a loving smudge bath by passing them through the cleansing smoke of burning sage or your favorite incense. Then, when you feel you need balance, hold one in each hand and sit quietly, melding with the stones as they create a natural balance and grounding within you.
Honoring Pachamama Prayer
September 05, 2019 by Dallas Jennifer Cobb

Pachamama is the Andean Mama Earth, and is the strong and nurturing force that helps and protects fertility, abundance, women, the feminine, generosity, and ripening crops.

To honor Pachamama you need a small handful of earth, held cupped in both hands. Say:

“Pachamama, I honor you.
I pledge to protect and preserve you.
I promise to heal and help you.
I will never abandon you.”

Rub earth into each palm and say:
“Pachamama, guide my hands that
I may work in your service.”

Rub earth on your forehead and say:
“Guide my head that I make
good decisions to help you.”

Rub earth on the sole of each foot and say:
“Guide my feet that I may
walk lightly with you.”

Rub earth over your heart and say:
“And guide my heart that I might
always love and serve you.”

Pray to Mama Earth frequently,
renewing your pledge to help and
protect her.
Peace Powder
September 04, 2019 by Stephanie Rose Bird

The Ludi Romani (Roman Games) was an ancient festival that usually included multiple ceremonies (ludi), starting in early September. The ludi of this time are in honor of Jupiter.

For this spell you will need lightning water, which is rainwater gathered during a thunderstorm. The lightning bolt is Jupiter’s most feared symbol. It has useful applications in many magickal paths, including Hoodoo. In Hoodoo, lightning water is used as a floor wash to bring fast change and for protection and strength.

Today, make your own Jupiter floor wash. First, sweep your kitchen or living room floor with your magickal besom.

Using a mop or sponge, wet down the floor with lightning water. As you spiritually cleanse the floor, chant:

“Son of Saturn,
God of light,
God of peace,
Giver of victory,
Lord of the sky,
Jupiter Optimus Maximus,
I honor you and welcome
the power you bring.
Blessed be!”
A Well Full of Pennies and My Two Cents
September 03, 2019 by Estha McNevin

Leaving pennies for others to find and designate as lucky is a small way of improving your own karma. This fun spell refocuses your attention on serving the needs of others and prevents self-focused attachment to wealth. Even small amounts of money can seem large when in penny form. This spell will take you longer than you might think.

Today, visit your bank and cash $8.88 worth of pennies. Pick a thing that you are eternally grateful for having in life, and give each penny away in the name of that gratitude throughout the day. Take your time and give each penny with a lucky intent, one by one. Be willingly generous today. As you leave each coin, think of the original high value of a penny and be sure that each coin is resting heads up. Do your best to evoke luck and hope in the lives of others and your needs will always be fulfilled if remember to support others when you experience success.
Career Divination
September 02, 2019 by Devin Hunter

On this day we celebrate the contributions to society made by all those who perform a trade, skill, or service. Today is all about appreciating the people who keep our civilization and economy moving forward, which also makes it an excellent day to consider matters related to your career and its long-term growth.

Grab a deck of tarot cards. Remove the Ace of Pentacles and place it front of you. Shuffle the deck and then draw eight cards at random. Place the first three cards above the Ace of Pentacles, the next three below it, and the final two on each side of the ace, making a three-by-three square. The cards on top represent your goals, the cards on the bottom represent your challenges, and the cards on either side of the Ace of Pentacles represent how these things are currently manifesting in your life.

Heartwings Love Notes 896: Small Gestures May Mean Much

Heartwings says: “Small and tender moments add up to big happiness.”

Back in the 50’s here was a popular song titled Little Things Mean a Lot. It was a sweet song detailing loving moments a couple might share. If you have internet access you can look it up on You Tube. As a result of my operation five weeks ago, I have been living small, and little things have come to mean a lot. By this I mean my being confined to home, resting a lot, and generally solely dedicated to getting well. Both my physical movements and the focus of my thoughts have revolved around this.

What this has done is to make the small circumstances of my daily life stand out more than they might ordinarily. Anything I might have taken for granted before is now emphasized. Small kindnesses have more importance. I find myself even more grateful than ever for the sweet emails people have sent me wishing me well. The generosity of friends who have offered to and taken Stephen shopping or for errands is special. I feel blessed by the meaningful kindness of those offers. Most of all I am grateful to Stephen for all the help he has given me.

When I came home after the operation I couldn’t dress myself at all. I needed help to perform the simplest tasks. I couldn’t cook anything, clean anything, or do more than spend the day on the couch. We watched movies and old TV shows together, and that was fun, however to do much more than that was just not possible for me. While this period of time was short in terms of my life so far, it was highly significant in terms of its effect. I feel enormously grateful for what I have received from it as well as what I have learned.

I’ll be out of the woods so to speak pretty soon and my life will be back to its usual rhythms and flow. This time has been a kind of island in my life. I have rested there and soon I will launch back into the daily stream and be carried by the flow of my days. Certainly I feel better for having had the operation. Soon even the slight aches that remain will be gone and I won’t need to walk with a cane. What will stay with me from this time is the many loving gestures of friends and acquaintances and most of all the care and kindness of my husband Stephen when the full burden of our daily lives fell upon his shoulders.

May you find good memories and helpful insights from stressful experiences.

Blessings and best regards, Tasha Halpert

PS I love it when my readers share what they have learned or how they have managed their lives. Your letters make my day and I will always answer you even if it takes a little while to do so.

Increasing Luck Candle Spell
by thiscrookedcrown

This is a simple candle spell, but perfect for people who like to do the same spell often. It’ll give you a boost of luck each time.

A candle (your choice of color).
Pick a color candle that feels energetic or lucky to you. Yellow or gold is popular, but red or orange is a good choice too.
Sit in the dark with the candle in front of you. Light it and say the following:

Fire before me,
Increase my luck in leap and bounds,
For long as this candle is around.

Burn the candle for seven minutes, sitting with it the whole time. You can repeat the spell again if you want, or just simply sit and think about the kind of things good luck can bring.
After the seven minutes are over, blow out the candle and keep it. Next time you want to shift your luck, light the candle again, repeat the verbal spell, and burn the candle for seven minutes.

When you burn the candle anymore, save the wax to make into a new candle. You can dress the candle, if you like.

Connecting with the Sacred
by Susana Cabaco

Our world is so sacred. Sacredness resides all around, not just beyond. Look at a tree, a bird, a mountain, look with spiritual eyes and you will see that “All that is” is alive. And even in midst of urban environment, look well, because you will be able to find/see the sacred there. There are so many natural sanctuaries all around. A flower that erupts from the concrete, a butterfly that comes to greet you along with the sun rays, the hypnotizing glow of the moon light, the bird that sings on your windowsill or even the small plant pot at your home – they all carry the sacredness of Nature/Earth.

Being clairvoyant is a blessing in perceiving the sacredness all around. The sacredness in all things/beings shines brighter naturally in front of my “eyes”. Seeing their light aligns me with the Sacred/Divine. The outer sacredness reminds me of my own sacredness, connecting/awakening me to the greatness of life/light. This spiritual vision/sight keeps me in “touch” with the divinity within/without/beyond. After all, we are as sacred as our world.

Living life relying on a holistic, sacred sight brings divine grace/blessings into my life. My heart opens in deep gratitude for life, while realizing a deep sense of Higher/Divine purpose and meaning for the Whole. All is sacred after all!

The Wisdom of Fear
By Madisyn Taylor

Anything really worth doing in our lives will always have some fear attached to it.

Anything worth doing will always have some fear attached to it. For example, having a baby, getting married, changing careers–all of these life changes can bring up deep fears. It helps to remember that this type of fear is good. It is your way of questioning whether you really want the new life these changes will bring. It is also a potent reminder that releasing and grieving the past is a necessary part of moving into the new.

Fear has a way of throwing us off balance, making us feel uncertain and insecure, but it is not meant to discourage us. Its purpose is to notify us that we are at the edge of our comfort zone, poised in between the old life and a new one. Whenever we face our fear, we overcome an inner obstacle and move into new and life-enhancing territory, both inside and out. The more we learn to respect and even welcome fear, the more we will be able to hear its wisdom, wisdom that will let us know that the time has come to move forward, or not. While comfort with fear is a contradiction in terms, we can learn to honor our fear, recognizing its arrival, listening to its intelligence, and respecting it as a harbinger of transformation. Indeed, it informs us that the change we are contemplating is significant, enabling us to approach it with the proper reverence.

You might wish to converse with your fear, plumbing its depths for a greater understanding of the change you are making. You could do this by sitting quietly in meditation and listening or by journaling. Writing down whatever comes up–your worries, your sadness, your excitement, your hopes–is a great way to learn about yourself through the vehicle of fear and to remember that fear almost always comes alongside anything worth doing in your life.

The Time Machine Part 8, Conclusion

The General put down his phone and called Smith and Jones into his office. Both men looked worn out and seemed to have lost weight.
“Report,” he said.
“We walked back,” Smith said. “But its complicated.”
Smith handed him a silver spoon with fancy engraving. “I think this belongs either at the White House or the Smithsonian, Sir.”
The general examined it carefully. “Who gave this to you?”
“Dolly Madison, Sir.”
He looked hard at Smith, “Explain.”
“Hiram Case was supposed to send us back to the White House Christmas Party. Instead we ended up here during an attack on the White House in 1812.”
“You’re trying to tell me that you went back two hundred plus years?”
“Yes, Sir,” Smith said. “Case’s time machine worked.”
He stood up. “Come with me.”
The three men left the general’s office in the Pentagon, walked down two corridors and came to a room with glass walls. Inside, a cluster of military and civilian men and women were examining Hiram’s steamer trunk.”
“That’s it,” Jones said.
“Yes,” Smith said. “Have you detained Case and his wife?”
“It seems they were gone by the time we entered their home. That old steamer trunk was standing in their basement. I was told it was warm and the electric wiring smelled odd.”
“Perhaps if they weren’t in their house they might have used the time machine to take off for parts unknown,” Jones said.
The General banged his fist on the desk. “What am I supposed to tell the Joint Chiefs,” he said, “that this relic can transport people through time?” He ran his hand over the stars on his uniform. “I value my tenure in the military and until I have definitive proof… ”
“Seems hard to believe,” Smith said. “But yes, Sir. That’s exactly what it does.”
“Case must be some sort of a genius,” the General said. “How did you ever get back?”
“Case had told us to envision the White House as we remembered it and by doing so, and by focusing our mental energy as we walked in place, we traveled back.”
“I find this hard to believe.”
“Yes Sir,” Jones said. “I do too. But it happened.”
“When Dolly Madison dropped the box with the silverware, unbeknownst to me, that piece fell into my boot.” Smith said
Smith convinced me to stay put instead of going to help the militiamen,” Jones chimed in. “Then we focused on the present and continued to walk in place until we got back.”
“Consider this entire operation highly classified. You are not to speak of it to anyone. And that’s an order. None of this ever happened.” The General looked stern.
Jones shrugged. “No one would believe us anyway; I still don’t get it myself.”
An investigator attached wires from a computer to the trunk. Others began turning the assortment of knobs and switches.
“People like Case are dangerous. Give me simple inventions that make sense and help drive the economy,” the General said.
As they watched, several of the colored bulbs popped. Gray smoke poured out of them. There were crackles, then flames shot from the trunk.
Someone aimed a fire extinguisher at it but rather than quell the flames it seemed to exacerbate them. Before long it was nothing but a heap of ash.
Meanwhile in another time and place, Hiram and Emily walked hand in hand along a pristine beach. Polynesian fishermen were bringing in the morning catch. Native women in brightly colored sarongs collected coconuts and mangoes.
“Personally I’m glad Stevenson believed our story.” Hiram said cheerfully.
“Yes,” Emily said. “See? It takes imagination to appreciate what you do.”
“And,” he smiled. “I’m glad he was amused by my idea for a electric papaya peeler.”
“Of course, dear. Incidentally, I did check at the mission house and there are at least two steamer trunks nobody seems to want. So should you ever want to put together another time machine…”
“And go back to that 21st Century rat race we just escaped. I think not.”
Emily smiled. “That’s good to hear Hiram. I don’t want to do that either, but just think, there is so much to the world we haven’t seen as yet.”
“Really? I don’t know if our jumping around that way is a good idea. This is such a perfect life for us. And there are wonderful books in English in the library at the mission. Everything you seem to want,” he said. ”
“Well, as I recall reading,” Emily said, “the Stevensons will be leaving for London next spring and shortly thereafter Paul Gauguin will be arriving. I hope you’ll commission him to paint my portrait.”
Hiram smiled. “Most certainly. Maybe several.”
“Oh Hiram I’m so glad we’re here in Tahiti” She stopped, smiled and put her hand on his arm. “And to think that once you make your machine again we can travel through time.”
“I thought you were happy here,” Hiram said.
“I am, yet you have awakened something in me that wasn’t there before…a sense of curiosity about the world I’ve only read about.”
Hiram frowned. “I hear what you’re saying. But I don’t know.”
“And when you make another time machine we can go places like the Columbia exposition.”
He looked thoughtful. “Maybe.”
She kissed him. “Oh Hiram just ask Leonardo, Copernicus and Galileo and see what they say.”

The End

Sight Versus Vision
By Madisyn Taylor

Vision comes from within and shows us how to navigate the realms of thought, feeling, and emotion.

Sight is the ability to see the physical world while vision is the gift of seeing beyond it. Sight enables us to take the physical world in so we can participate in it with knowledge. It brings us pleasure through our eyes, which perceive the colors and shapes of all the myriad expressions of nature and human beings. It helps us feel in control, allowing us to see what is coming toward us, which way we are going, and exactly where we are standing at a given moment. We are able to read signs and books, navigate the interiors of buildings with ease, sense and perceive how a person is feeling by the expressions that cross her face.

As anyone who has lost their eyesight can tell you, though, there are things that are clearer when you cannot see the world through your eyes. One of the reasons many meditation instructors advise sitting with the eyes closed is because we automatically become more in touch with our inner world when we are not distracted by the outer world. It is in this state that vision becomes our mode of seeing. Vision comes from within and shows us how to navigate the realms of thought, feeling, and emotion. It enables us to see things that aren’t yet manifested in the world of form, and it also connects us to that part of ourselves that exists separately from the world of form.

As we age, even those of us with perfect eyesight will generally lose some of our acuity, but this loss is usually replaced with inner vision. This is the time of life when we are meant to turn inside and take what are sometimes the very first steps of a journey that cannot be traced on a map. We call upon intuition and feel our way along a path that ultimately carries us beyond the realm we can see with our eyes and into the land of spirit.

Prep Time: 15 minutes Cook Time: 25 minutes Yield: 24 large bars, 48 small bars 1x

Light, fluffy, moist pumpkin bars (like cake!) topped with a rich, creamy, decadent cream cheese frosting. It’s an exquisite, heavenly dessert. They’ll disappear right before your eyes!

2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
4 eggs
1 2/3 cup sugar
1 cup vegetable oil
1 can (15 ounces) pure pumpkin (not pie filling!)

8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
12 Tablespoons butter, softened at room temperature
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 Tablespoons cream, half-and-half, or milk
6 cups unsifted powdered sugar

Pre-heat oven to 350°F. Sift together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, and baking soda.
In a large mixing bowl, beat eggs, sugar, oil, and pumpkin until light and fluffy. Add mixed dried ingredients into pumpkin mixture, beating until fully combined.
Spread batter in an ungreased 17×12 inch jelly roll pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes (adjust if your pan is a different size!), until the edges begin to brown slightly and a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely before frosting.

Combine cream cheese, butter, vanilla, and cream in a mixing bowl. Beat with electric mixer on medium speed. Add powdered sugar 1 cup at a time, mixing between each addition, until all cups are added and frosting is smooth. Spread evenly on cooled pumpkin bars.

Personal theme: I am!!
Fire & cardinal sign: March 21 — April 19

Your horoscope for this week:

As a quick-thinking Aries, while you recognise plans are essential, those who waste hours in discussion drive you crazy. You`d rather be getting things done. However, move too swiftly this week and you`ll only need to rethink plans, and possibly begin certain projects again. The solution? Busy yourself elsewhere. Give somebody who`d benefit from your energy and enthusiasm a hand. It will help them, and you, too.

Family arrangements are up and down. You aren`t sure how some plans will go. If you don`t feel attached to a particular outcome it will be easier to adapt. Try to relax as even an unexpected turn of events could work in your favour. Good news travels fast and you might hear of an exciting travel opportunity. This would be like a dream come true for you and it will make your life more exciting. Take it while you can.

Put your design or fashion head on. Your marketing and advertising skills should also come to the fore. There is also high probability of you being drawn into the world of glamour. Yes, it`s true that some might alternatively be drawn in the other direction – into something that`s seedy. Either way, illusions and fantasy are around. At the positive level, you could create something at work that by Friday is viewed as having exceptional value. Indeed, your professionalism will likely be on show. Another feature of this week is the high probability of reinforcing an alliance – most likely with someone born under either Gemini or Virgo (both Mercury ruled) and which has the potential to ensure that a project is delivered on time and spectacularly as 2019 gives way to 2020.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——-

Personal theme: I have!!
Earth & fixed sign: April 20 — May 20

Your horoscope for this week:

After sudden, if exciting, changes in your world and life, you`re both thrilled and exhausted. You need a break, mostly to get used to living, working or thinking in a very different way. While the pace remains swift, events will almost seem to guide you in the right direction. That being the case, resist the temptation to over-analyse, and take things as they come.

You`re a lot more imaginative than you realise. This would be a great time to launch a project that draws on your creative skills. Friends and family will benefit through going along with your ideas as no one will come up with a better one. Approach a partnership issue in a way that inspires confidence. You will jump to the defence of anyone who you think is wronged. This will be the first step towards rectifying an injustice.

It could easily feel as though you`re trying to tame wild horses until next Sunday`s Full Moon. Ideas and plans will likely come at you from every possible direction. What might not, at least until Friday, is the formation of a team that knows exactly how to work efficiently to ensure that a schedule is kept to. There is high probability that those born under Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces could exasperate others by darting here there and everywhere, never completing one task before they move on to the next. That does not suit Taurus. Yet it should be recalled that Uranus is now moving through your sign. This is the planet that does things differently. It may be that you need to put your foot down and make clear that there are boundaries that are non-negotiable. Crisis is likely and yes; you may need to take the helm. In doing so, you might need to take on extra responsibility. Though true, your workload could increase, taking this position may be preferable to feeling that others are pulling all the strings.

Personal theme: I think!!
Air sign: May 21 — June 20

Your horoscope for this week:

The odds are slim that, at the time, you recognised recent clashes with others and challenging situations as an opportunity to broaden your horizons. However, this week`s events will also bring things together in ways as unexpected as they are thrilling. The challenge? Making changes, some swiftly, others so far-reaching you`re unsure they`re wise. They are; but you won`t know that until you`ve made them.

Your conscience will nudge you to give more time to a relationship that needs it. Even if you resent this slightly, it`s the best way to avoid future misunderstandings. Every friendship involved compromise. A number of areas in your life are in a state of flux and it might feel as if nothing comes very easily. More effort than expected will be called for to achieve your goals. Persevere and you will get there, eventually.

It could be said that those born under Gemini are in the eye of a cosmic storm. Others may be pulling you this way and that. Think of yourself as a butterfly spoilt for choice with gorgeous flowers all around you. Tempting as it may be to flit from one `seductive scenario` to another, it would be wise to recall that in each case you need to make detailed notes of exactly what it was that turned you on and what you`ve gained by that excursion or diversion. By Friday you may well have exasperated a few people who aren`t entirely sure what it is that you are looking for. You will need to take care that you`re not doing too much talking and visioning but ignoring practicalities; and yes, for some born under Gemini there may be legal challenges to deal with. Hiatus around next Sunday`s Full Moon is probable and you may yet be indebted to the professionalism – especially of those born under Capricorn – who though they may not be able to get you out of a jam, effect a damage limitation exercise.

Personal theme: I feel!!
Water & cardinal sign: June 21 — July 22

Your horoscope for this week:

While you don`t mind change, you prefer to know what`s happening and, ideally, to have a clear idea of the timing. However, the events currently reshaping your life and the circumstances of others are so new that they`re more of an experiment than a straightforward plan. The solution? Get involved, even if you`re shy or feel unequipped to contribute. You`ll soon realise everybody feels just the same.

Someone seems to feel you have let them down and this hurts you. A chance remark may trigger a series of deep discussions. Although this will make you emotional, it also poses a good opportunity to mend broken fences. You`re tempted to go on to other things when some jobs are only half complete. Is this wise? Either you will have to return to them in the future or you are leaving it to others to finish the work which doesn`t seem fair.

In the lead into the next Sunday`s Full Moon, you could easily feel pulled this way and that. Anticipate many, many meetings and short journeys. Note too, that you are likely to be bombarded with idea, ill-thought plans and potential arrangements. Adjusting to a new timetable will take time but will surely be managed after Mercury and Venus align at the end of this week. True, agreements perhaps can`t be put into practice until next Monday, and the effort made to negotiate not wasted. Heartstrings could be pulled too. There is every likelihood of being involved in a charitable mission. True, it could simply be that someone older (or perhaps born under Capricorn), requires extra support. This too though is set to add to your already very considerable workload. Recall however that the lunar node is presently passing through your sign. Events taking place now are part of an 18-month period when your nurturing and husbanding abilities are put to the test.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——-

Personal theme: I will!!
Fire & fixed sign: July 23 — August 22

Your horoscope for this week:

Only recently you`d have regarded recent changes, possibly enforced, as seriously unwelcome. Now you`re rethinking that opinion. It`s no surprise, because events, many entirely unexpected, are reshaping your perspective and your life. If there`s any problem, its things are unclear or not happening swiftly enough. Be patient. By the week`s close, when you`ve a better understanding what`s next, you realise why this was the best strategy.

Things always seem darkest before dawn. Worrying is a waste of your time and energy. You know this but it isn`t easy to silence your thoughts. Try talking things over with someone you trust. Anxieties that have been weighing on your mind will start to ease. In business, your intuition will be a key factor in this week`s successes. An unexpected offer will come your way and it will be good to know life still holds pleasant surprises.

It is said that Leo thrives on drama.: though that`s perhaps not always the case. You could now be drawn into one “play` after another. If you`re dealing with those born under Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces you may well get involved in important scenes in their working lives. Keeping track of developments in your own might not be so easy. Yet by Friday you may need to make an important decision – most likely property related. Determining an investment or an asset and its value could be preoccupying over Friday. A strong possibility is coming to a shared accommodation. Note that Uranus (the planet that does things differently), is now passing over the apex of your solar chart. This is the time to try out new ways of operating. A strong possibility is agreeing a trial arrangement that lasts through for the next couple of months and which is reviewed at Mercury`s direct station on November 21st.

Personal theme: I analyse!!
Earth sign: August 23 — September 22

Your horoscope for this week:

Ordinarily, when exciting changes are in the air, you`ll begin by doing your research. You enjoy gathering facts, considering your options, then making decisions. However, things are moving too swiftly for any but the most basic of questions. Actually, that`s for the best, because these aren`t mere changes but genuine breakthroughs, events so new that the only way to learn about them is by getting involved.

A youngster in the family has done something wrong and it`s important for them to take the consequences of their mistakes. Don`t follow an instinct to make it easy for them. As difficult as it can be for you, sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind. Messages cause confusion. Something has been misheard or misinterpreted and you may have to use your charm as well as some patience to circumvent an argument.

Yours is one of the signs likely to be caught in the eye of a cosmic storm. Until next Sunday`s Full Moon it might seem to others that you don`t know which way you`re going. Proving them wrong is perhaps your greatest challenge. By Friday you will need to show considerable organisational skills and efficiency. Recall though, that these are the very traits in which Virgo seeks to excel. You could do yet do spectacularly well. You will though need to rein in any tendency to micromanage. It`s this that could jeopardise the potential successful outcome of mission or challenge due to be completed in November. Positively however, major aspects involving Mars (moving through your sign) and Jupiter (moving through the sign associated with foreign travel, foreign affairs as well as further education), suggests that by Thursday you will have a strategy in place. Convincing others that you won`t change your mind again could prove a formidable task however!

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——-

Personal theme: I balance!!
Air & cardinal sign: September 23 — October 22

Your horoscope for this week:

For the past month or so, you`ve been in a period when destiny has made a range of decisions on your behalf. While, mostly, they`re choices you wouldn`t have made, things have turned out surprisingly well. This continues this week; except you`re being prepared for decisions you`ll be making from mid-September onward. That being the case, learn all you can from what and who you encounter.

An unreliable friend or neighbour is reaping havoc with your life. Allow for a degree of inconvenience when demands from outside knock your private plans for six. You won`t be too happy about rearrangements being made but neither will you let it get you down. An old friend will find you on a social networking site. It might seem like a good idea to get together to discuss old times. This will be a pleasant trip down Memory Lane.

It`s doubtful that you`re lazy Libra sub personality will show face and more likely that you will take on significantly more work. Be careful that you don`t overdo it. In the days leading up to next weekend`s Full Moon the temptation to want to please others even more than usual will likely be great. In doing so though you could create difficulties for early in 2020. It might help to recall that the Sun is presently passing through neighbouring Virgo. This would be an excellent time for putting your house in order, tidying things and ensuring that you could find these again as and when that becomes necessary. With increased dialogue with those who live and work far away most likely, maintaining accurate notes of what`s been said and promised should prove ultra-useful to. To make the most of this week`s most beneficial aspects, focus on marketing, advertising and distribution. This could also be an excellent time to build a website or revise one.

Scorpio & Ophiuchus
Personal theme: I desire!!
Water & fixed signs: October 23 — November 21

Your horoscope for this week:

This week`s stunning links between Mercury, the Sun and your ruler Pluto indicate things will fall into place and, in particular, that brilliant ideas or offers will appear from nowhere. As a cautious and thorough Scorpio, you`d normally investigate, mull things over, then gradually make a decision. With these, it`s now or never. Your instincts are already saying to go for it, and they`re right.

Be prepared for a change in career affairs. Much to your surprise, you will hit it off with a new boss or manager. Colleagues will grumble when new routines are implemented but you will find it easy to keep an upbeat mood going around you. An opportunity to travel will fall into your lap and you won`t look a gift horse in the mouth. Someone will want to tag along for the ride and this could lead to the two of you making a romantic commitment.

Temporarily you could be at a loss for words. It`s probable that you will see flaws in an organisation but can`t as yet get your point across. That time will come. For now, it might be wise to focus your attention elsewhere. A major aspect between Jupiter and Neptune suggests that your vision could be much enhanced. In focusing on your creativity, you are also effectively putting money in the bank for later. The art this week may be to be not deflected by the antics of others – many of whom might not appear to know exactly where they are going. Anticipate too that you could be called either to the world of glamour or to the Arts. Here you may have something significant to offer. It`s not impossible either that ahead of the weekend`s Full Moon that you will be offered a position on a team that enhances your profile.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——-

Personal theme: I see!!
Fire sign: November 22 — December 21

Your horoscope for this week:

You`re in the midst of a complicated period during an exciting and, ultimately, rewarding part of your life. However, with a series of challenging planetary aspects to your ruler Jupiter between now and late September, you`re being forced to review certain longstanding arrangements, those made recently and, equally, new plans. Once, they worked; but now and in the future, they could hold you back.

Avoid impulsive actions and decisions as jumping into anything feet first will be regretted. Pause and give yourself time to think about it to avoid future disappointment. People will try your patience. If someone makes a comment that makes your temperature rise, count to ten before reacting. A close relationship is unpredictable and it may be necessary to give more time to family matters if you hope to reduce problems and misunderstandings.

You may remember that Jupiter is presently passing through your sign. With that planet now in forward motion as viewed from Earth, you may feel that you to moving speedily along. However, Neptune and the Sun are both at right angles to this position. It might not be clear to others which direction you are taking. Indeed, you could be giving out most confusing signals. This will likely be exasperating to others. In the days leading up to the weekend`s Full Moon, don`t be surprised if others try to rein you in. Their risk assessment may be better than your own. All that said, your ability to both give and receive information is on show. This would be an excellent time to enrol on a course or provide one. If there is a difficulty it`s that it might be hard choosing the one that provides the perfect fit. It`s important that you arrange flexibility – aware that you might not come to a final decision until the beginning of next month.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——-

Personal theme: I use!!
Earth & cardinal sign: December 22 — January 19

Your horoscope for this week:

Most of the world complains when things are moving too slowly. Being a cautious Capricorn, you`re happier when the pace enables you to gather facts and weigh up plans before deciding anything; but now, decisions are being made for you. While, ordinarily, you`d worry, things are going well. So much you`ll do something out of character and go with the flow. It`s a wise choice.

Speaking out at the wrong moment could lead to an argument. Getting too irate over an issue might lose you a good opportunity. That`s why it`s important, no matter what and who you are dealing with, to control your emotions. If you`re puzzled about a situation that has been causing a lot of problems, it is possible you are missing what is obvious. As you will discover later in the week, the answer has been staring you in the face.

It`s probable that you will be more than usually exasperated by the behaviour of others – especially if they are born under the Mutable signs of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces. They might seem to you to be running around like headless chickens or alternatively multitasking without undertaking adequate risk assessment. It could fall to you before the weekend`s Full Moon, to make clear that decisions will need to be taken and that having so many projects on the go will likely lead to eventual disaster. Your patience, caution and understanding of the need to place secure foundations before entering into situations where the outcome is less than clear might not endear you to everyone, but could yet be the safest anchor for all. In January 2020 many planets are grouped in your sign. It`s then that you could reap the rewards of the advice and actions taken this week.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——-

Personal theme: I know!!
Air & fixed sign: January 20 — February 18

Your horoscope for this week:

Thus far it`s been an epic year of change, mostly as unexpected as, ultimately, it`s been worthwhile. Yet, as you`ll already have noticed, things are by no means settling down. Bizarrely, arrangements you`ve regarded as solid are themselves shifting, if not coming to an end. This would be worrying, were it not for the tantalizing ideas and offers just beginning to come your way.

You are driven to help someone fulfil their potential. The reason you`re trying to persuade a colleague or young relative into something is because you know them better than themselves. With your support and guidance, they will accomplish something they never expected they`d ever be able to do. Friendships are fun. You are a highly sociable person and people you are mixing with are compatible. It will be a joy to benefit from such rapport and understanding..

It could feel as though much has broken loose in the run into next Sunday`s Full Moon. If there really is correlation between the planets and human behaviour, then it`s probable that many people – most especially those born under the Mutable signs of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces – will appear to be running around like headless chickens. At least that`s likely to be your perspective. It could fall to you to take on the role of anchor. It might be wise to put down clear boundaries before next weekend`s Full Moon. A possible role is acting as editor or assistant. Whether you are proof-reading advertising copy or assisting those making new friendships or choosing which groups to join, the first half of the week could find you doing careful appraisal before giving advice.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——-

Personal theme: I believe!!
Water sign: February 19 — March 20

Your horoscope for this week:

If you`re struggling to make plans, but unsure about your feelings, it`s no surprise. Between circumstances shifting and an increasing number of questions regarding certain personal matters, issues involving others and future plans, you`ve lots to reflect on. Others are impatient. Still, take it slowly until the Pisces Full Moon, on the 14th. After that, both complex situations and your own feelings will be much clearer.

A friend can`t seem to let bygones be bygones. They keep bringing up matters of the past you would rather forget about. If you don`t want to be constantly reminded of a painful incident, the only solution will be to avoid this person. Quiet pursuits will bring a welcome balance to your life. Communing with nature, reading or listening to music can be relaxing and a good way to recharge your emotional batteries. A spiritual experience is enlightening.

Next weekend`s Full Moon is in your sign. Before then, the Sun makes major aspect to your two ruling planets, Jupiter and Neptune; and yes, this could prove a week to remember. Career wise, your ability to see patterns and designs that others miss will likely be enhanced. This should prove a boon if you`re involved in advertising or marketing. It may be though, that others are slow – at least as far as you`re concerned, – to grasp the concepts. It may be that you`re assuming that they can read your mind. From their perspective, it might seem that you`re being less than clear. By Friday, you could be called to account – particularly by those born under Capricorn or who are significantly older and who feel that your thinking is muddled. This could also prove a week of considerable travel- both of the mind and literally. Take a notebook wherever you go.. Your ideas have value and in committing them to paper you allow them to become reality. This exercise should all be should also be helpful to others!
