Boost Your Self-Confidence with Yarrow
Spell Date: Saturday, July 7, 2018
There are times in our lives when we need a little boost of self-confidence. Maybe you have been asked to give a speech or you have an interview coming up. Yarrow is an herb that has been used for courage since ancient times.
For this spell you will need:
* An inscribing tool (such as a nail, straight pin, needle,
or small knife—anything sharp)
* A red or orange candle
* Bergamot oil
* A red or orange drawstring bag
* A tiger’s-eye gem
* Dried yarrow
Use your inscribing tool to carve personal symbols of self-confidence into the candle. Anoint the candle with bergamot oil. Light the candle and focus on all of your wonderful qualities.
Take your bag, gem, and yarrow, and hold them over the candle flame one at a time. Hold each item high over the flame in a closed fist—you don’t want to accidentally catch a dried herb on fire in your hand! As you do this, repeat words of power, such as strong, confident, capable, worthy, or courageous. Put the yarrow and tiger’s eye into the pouch, and carry it with you for confidence. Snuff out the candle for later use.

Protection Against Malevolence

We all have times when someone is angry with us and does not wish us well. In extreme cases, you may be the recipient of an angry hex or curse. What to do?
First, remember that cold iron is one of the best materials for repelling negative magical energy. Hanging an old-fashioned horseshoe above the door (on the inside) will keep your threshold safe from intrusion. An old railroad spike will work, too.
Second, work a basic grounds warding. Circle your home and property three times, moving widdershins (counterclockwise). As you walk, repeat:
“Wards are set, safe at home.”
You may wish to smudge or scatter salt as you walk. For added protection, bury a small Witch bottle (e.g., a bottle of nails, rosemary, and bits of obsidian) near the front of the house.
Third, stop in front of your door and use salt to create a pentagram in the area of the doormat. Step over the pentagram as you enter your home (and don’t forget to lock the door!).

Liberty and Justice for All

For readers in the United States, Independence Day can be a fun and frivolous time of celebration to mark the anniversary of colonial independence from England in 1776. However, Native American nations suffered greatly from these colonial conquests—and continue to suffer even now, in many cases.
We can’t erase the past. We are where we are, and we must move forward with compassion. Historical violence and bloodshed have left an energetic mark of terror in colonized America and elsewhere. Let’s lend a little bit of healing to these imprints regardless of our own nationality.
Light a red candle, a white candle, a blue candle, and a brown candle to symbolize the earth and her indigenous peoples (the brown is not a reference to skin color, but to the fertile earth). Place a map of the US next to the candles (even if it’s on your phone or computer). Use your hands to pull heat off all four candles, and direct the warmth all over the map while visualizing harmony and repeating this:

Out With the Old

During the cooler months, we often notice that the air in the house gets stagnant and needs an airing out, but in the hotter months, especially if the windows are closed and the air conditioning is running nonstop, we still get that stagnant, sometimes smelly air.
Use today to open the windows at least for a little while. If it’s really hot where you are, try for a couple of hours in the early morning or the later evening to help keep the temperature down. Otherwise, fling the windows open and let the breeze cleanse and refresh your indoor air. Add a few drops of lemon oil to water in a spray bottle and give all of your screens a spritz. As you work on each window, say:
“Out with the old, in with the new.”
Take a deep breath of the fresh air as it comes in.

Time of Astrological Retrogrades & Eclipses

Many of you have expressed to me how you want to move forward in one way or another, in some part of your life, and yet you feel stuck! And you’re probably very curious when you’ll get to start moving forward again. Well here’s what’s happening.
It is a time of Retrograde Planets!
It’s not that you are necessarily doing anything wrong, in fact, you probably have been doing everything you can think of, but perhaps that’s not even working! This is a time to wait, and do your work spiritually! During Retrograde time like now, we go more inward and start to process on a very deep level all of the issues in our life we want to change or even some of the stuff we don’t, we just can’t make things work in the same way! This is NOT YOUR FAULT! It is not about what you are doing.
This summer at one point there will be six planets in their Retro cycles, except for the Sun and Moon, and not only are they in Retrograde but also they are hanging out together. The Retrograde planets cause blocks and major slowdowns in more than one area of your life. However, this doesn’t mean everything in your life will be stuck or on hold. But just like everyone else, there will be some things that get stopped. Most of you aren’t too happy about this Astrological lineup, so it’s important to understand just what part of your own personal Astrology Birth Chart these Retrogrades are moving through because that tells us what part of your life is being most affected. Even though you already probably could guess some of it just by what you are experiencing.
SO GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK and avoid taking actions because this is seriously a waiting game we are in!
Retrograde Planets Timeline
Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, and Pluto will all be Retrograde between June 26 and July 10th.
Jupiter turns direct and out of Retrograde on July 10th, leaving four planets retrograde.
July 25, Mercury is Retrograde and there are 5 planets going in reverse.
August 7, Uranus turns Retrograde and that makes six planets plus Chiron Retrograde.
The planets slowly start turning direct with Mercury, on August 18th.
The Summer is a good time to sit back and reflect on your life, so take it slow and hopefully, you will see that things just aren’t moving as quickly so you can take your time. Let things unfold naturally during this slowed down time, and don’t push things. There’s no point in pushing something if it’s not going to happen from the start or if it is going to be a mess, and that is exactly what Retrograde planets can bring. Perspective is everything folks, take this time and enjoy it, look at it as a time to relax or take a little vacay time, this will help you take some of the pressure off yourself and your life. Try not to worry! Zen out and just allow the energies to be what they are now. You can’t change anything about it, take it from me observing Retrograde time over the last 20 something years, and seeing so many folks try to push it and do things that aren’t really working for them, or trying something totally different and have nothing but problems that lasted months after the Retrograde cycles were over. It’s not worth the frustration!
Astro Outlook for July
July 8th – Sun Trines Neptune, this will be a nice energy that will stick around for some of the week, so enjoy! We can feel a bit lazy but our intuition is super strong and our dreams can be vivid and meaningful.
July 9th – Mercury Square Jupiter, watch your mouth again, Mercury rules over how we communicate and if you get frustrated once this energy appears you could seriously go off.
July 11th, Venus Trine Uranus, this can be a nice energy to meet someone new in or just out of the blue, and for couples that are already together, you just might be able to put some spark back into your relationships.
July 12th, Sun Opposite Pluto, this can be a good day but don’t let your ego or mind get in your way. You might feel amazingly powerful, but you can end up throwing your weight around and have major ego battles with others.
July 14th, Venus Trine Saturn, this is when we can make sure our committed relationships are secure, and when longer term commitments can be made.
A New Moon comes together on Thursday, July 12 in the sign of Cancer, this is actually the first of the Summer Eclipses!
This New Moons message is all about letting go of something, as it’s a time to transform yourself and get rid of what is holding you back from happiness.
This Solar Eclipse is going to be very powerful, it represents the end of one cycle and the beginning of a new one. A regular New Moon’s influence can last for a month after it comes together, but a Solar Eclipse influence can last from three to six months. However, the Cosmos is busy and there are two Solar Eclipses this summer. The next one is on August 11, and it will be even stronger or more powerful than this one.
The New Moon Eclipses are an ideal time to plant those seeds of intentions for any future goals you desire, it is time to manifest folks! Wherever, this Eclipse falls in your own personal “Astrology Birth Chart,” will be the area of your life that you will have the best opportunity for something new or improved to start, by the end of the year or even into next year.
The Eclipse on July 12 might just push you to do more with your life. Therefore, it can create chaos or crisis if you get caught off guard. It’s a great time to Manifest Relationships!
Many of you are looking for new love in some way and some folks may even meet a soulmate during this time. Already existing relationships might just enjoy more stability. If you are in a stressful relationship than this is a good time to work through your problems and find solutions. But if for whatever reason your relationship isn’t already solid and doesn’t have staying power, these Eclipses may just separate you too help you figure it all out.
For those of you who are impatient when it comes to manifesting, please keep “Setting Those Intentions” and making out those “Wish Lists.” The things you want in this life don’t always come immediately, sometimes it just takes time! The Universe doesn’t always just give us what we want, but the whole point of “Setting Intentions” is to be put on a path in the right direction towards your desires. So if you are consistent and continue to keep asking and focusing on what it is you want and not what you don’t, you will either get put on the right path or get what you want in time. So do your work folks, or it won’t work! Period.
There is no magic cure to stop these energies but you can do work to help ease off the tension, no matter your beliefs, take some time to go inward and connect to your higher-self or a higher power and ask for what it is you want, and for help during this wild crazy time. Heartwings Love Notes 834 A Simple Meal for a Hot Summer Day
Heartwings says, “Hot days call for simple, easy recipes.”
In addition to losing my appetite in the heat, in the summer I never feel much like cooking. One reasons autumn is my favorite season is that when the weather cools off I feel much more like cooking as well as like eating. However it’s not then now, so I need to be in the present moment in the kitchen. Simple recipes are my go to solution for eating healthy food in this hot weather. I find it’s easier to motivate myself to cook when I don’t have to spend a lot of time doing it.
Salads are all very well in hot weather, however I do get tired of them and in fact I actually prefer a hot meal even when it is warm outside. One of my favorite easy summer recipes combines freshly available local greens and pasta. It really doesn’t matter what greens you use. Personally I like the combination of spinach and Swiss chard, however, kale with spinach or chard is good too, and so are collard greens, broccoli rabe, or other potential ingredients you can use singly or in combination.
I like to use my food processor to mix the greens together, adding good olive oil and some fresh garlic as well. A blender would be difficult to use, however lacking a food processor you could use a food mill to grind and blend the cooked greens. A food processor is a very useful tool and one that even though I like to cut my vegetables by hand, I have come to rely on for certain kinds of food preparation. I treasure my kitchen tools. Some of them date back more years than I prefer to count. I have a wooden cutting board I received at a shower for my first child who is now a grandmother.
The recipe itself is very simple. Ingredients are: a pound or so of spinach, the same of Swiss chard, or use other greens as suggested above. Cook them separately in as little water as possible. Drain well and turn together into the food processor bowl. Add 3 or 4 tablespoons good olive oil, 2 medium cloves chopped or sliced garlic or 1 large one, and a pinch or two of salt. Your tarot deck of choice
A glass of water
A candle (optional)
A window at night
An offering for the moon (optional)

When Doors Open

Our lives are the result of all the doors we have walked through, and our continued growth depends on our willingness to keep moving into new spaces.
When a door opens, walk through it. Trust that the door has opened for a reason and you have been guided to it. Sometimes we have a tendency to overanalyze or agonize over the decision, but it is quicker to simply go through the door and discover what’s there as that’s the only way to know. Even if it doesn’t seem right at first, opening this door may lead to another door that will take us where we need to go.
Doors open when the time is right for us to enter a new space, metaphorically speaking, and we can have faith that walking through is the right thing to do. Sometimes we linger in the threshold because we are afraid of leaving our old life for a life we know nothing about. We may have voices inside of our heads that try to hold us back or people in our lives saying discouraging things. These voices, internal and external, are known as threshold spirits, and they express all the fears and doubts that arise at the beginning of a new life. Nevertheless, none of these voices can hold us back, and they will fall silent as soon as we cross the threshold.
There are many doors that open in the course of our lives, leading us into new relationships, jobs, friendships, and creative inspirations. Our lives up to this point are the result of all the doors we have walked through, and our continued growth depends on our willingness to keep moving into new spaces. Every time we walk through an open door, we create a sense memory that encourages us to move into the new fearlessly. Staying Healthy In Summer
Stay hydrated: Summer heat can sneak up on you! Even when you think you are not thirsty, your body is already craving water. Being active for extended periods of time make it more difficult to notice dehydration. Bring a water bottle with volume markings to keep track of how much you are drinking and how much more you need to drink.
Keep active: It can be hard to exercise during the day when the summer heat is on or you have a full-time job at an office.Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Park further away so you have to walk further each morning and afternoon. Take walks during lunchtime. Walk in the shade or avoid walking between 11 am – 3 pm when the sun is the strongest.
Prevent eye strain: Sitting in front of a computer screen all day makes you particularly susceptible to eye strain. Apply the 20-20-20 Rule: After every 20 minutes, you should look away from your screen and focus on an object that is 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds.
Pack a healthy lunch: Don’t forget the snacks! This will help you maintain a nutritious diet and avoid the temptation of the unhealthy snacks in the vending machine. Make healthy choices in the company cafeteria. Pack lots of fruits and cut up vegetables for that picnic basket or road trip.
Wash your hands: That means frequently throughout the day to prevent contracting germs and illnesses from your surroundings. The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends washing your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds.

Rose Kerns left Harry and Bessie at their table in the dining room of Proud Snout. She gave them dining coupons and agreed to see them the next day before they drove home.
Bessie gazed at the wall in front of them and averted her eyes. “Harry, could we switch to different seats? That big fish is staring right at me. And it doesn’t look friendly.”
Harry grinned. “Sure.” He started to get up and paused. “Bessie, don’t you realize it’s just a stuffed fish?”
“I don’t care if it’s marinated or fried. I don’t like the look in its eyes.”
They moved to other seats.. It was high tide and the surf washed ferociously over the rocks. The dining galley as it was called was designed in a rustic, seafaring motif: ships’ anchors, antique wooden steering wheels and brass fittings. Skillfully prepared fish mounted on plaques of various sizes peered from the walls. Their side of the long wooden tables covered with checkered oil cloth faced outward toward the crashing sea. “I could get seasick looking at that ocean,” Harry said. “Must be quite something sitting here during a storm.”
The servers appeared with the salads and set them down. Bessie picked at hers and wrinkled her nose. “Not very fresh. The lettuces is wilted. How can they serve salad greens this decrepit.” She pushed away her plate.
Another couple sat down across from them. They smiled. “David and Cindy MacDonald,” an elderly, balding gentleman in seersucker said. “You folks checking out the Snout?”
Harry nodded and introduced himself and Bessie.
“I’ve seen you on television,” Cindy MacDonald said. “You’re the man who’s in bed with the pretty young things.” She frowned in Bessie’s direction.
Harry chuckled “Gets the attention of the viewers.”
Cindy pursed her lips. “If Old MacDonald here ever pulled a stunt like that I’d kick him right off the farm.”
Bessie smiled. “Harry sells mattresses and bedroom sets. He has to show his customers how comfortable our beds and mattresses can be. And what better way…”
Cindy MacDonald humphed. “A little too comfortable if you ask me. Lead a man into the bedroom and the next thing you know…”
“Pay no attention to my wife,” David MacDonald said. His expression was jovial but Bessie noticed an edge to his voice.
The server brought the MacDonalds their salads. Bessie noticed their greens were equally limp and unappealing.
“Like fish?” David MacDonald asked. “We have it lots. Cat food cannery here in town.”
“Luxury cat food,” Cindy MacDonald said proudly. “The Snout family was one of the first cat food providers in the country: Frisky Paws.”
“Cindy, hush!” David MacDonald said with a frown. “I wouldn’t want these good folks to think we get served cat food here at the Snout.”
Another couple joined them. Their nametags read Dorothy and Hubert Presley. Where Cindy was stout, with a bulldog expression, Dorothy was thin, her neck narrow and corded. She squinted at Harry. “You look familiar.”
“Sure he does,” Cindy MacDonald said gleefully. “He’s featured in those tasteless mattress commercials on TV: you know the ones where he’s in bed with sweet young things who should know better.”
Dorothy leaned forward, her chin jutting. “I hope you’re faithful to your wife. We don’t allow philandering here at the Snout.”
“Of course,” Harry said. His face reddened.
She turned to Bessie. “We’ll have no hanky panky here. Truth to tell, all that sea air can turn a man’s mind. I’ve seen it happen more than just once.”
Bessie raised her eyebrows and smiled. “I completely trust my Harry,” she said.
The wait staff wheeled in supper. Bessie elbowed Harry. “The roast chicken seems peculiar,” she said in a whisper. It had a dried out look beside small serving of what appeared to be canned green beans and half a baked potato.
Hubert Presley gave Harry his best man to man smile . “Enjoy a little poker?”
“I’m more into gin rummy,” Harry said.
Hubert pursed his lips and shook his head. Poker’s more fun. We go for five card stud.”
“The girls usually play duplicate bridge,” David looked over at Bessie. “My Cindy has more master points than you could shake a stick at.”
“Never played it,” Bessie said. “Not my kind of game.”
“Cold winters here at the Snout,” Dorothy said, changing the subject. “I hope you’re not one of those feminists we read about on the North Shore, one of those arrogant Hillary supporters.”
Bessie poked at her stringy chicken. The canned green beans were watery. “I supported her,” she said quietly. “I like what she stands for.”
Dorothy frowned. “Certain types of wives tolerate overly liberal husbands.”
Harry grinned and nudged Bessie. “Maybe we should change the advertising,” he said. “Get a little more trendy, more pizzazz for today’s youthful buyers. Gotta keep up with the millennials.”
“What might work better?” Bessie asked.
He raised his voice slightly. “Maybe for the new fall promos I’ll wear a blond wig and roll around on a king size mattress with some male models.”
Bessie grinned. “Oh Harry , I love you so. Your originality is stunning!” She smiled at Dorothy and Cindy, “After all, my husband isn’t the mattress Tsar of Pawtucket for nothing.”
The people at their table weren’t quite sure how to respond so they all looked down at their food.
The servers wheeled in dessert: pound cake drenched in bittersweet chocolate.
David broke the ensuing silence. He looked up and grinned at Harry. “You two will be guests here at the Snout tonight, yes? Maybe if you’d like we could check out the pool.”
Harry looked at Bessie. “I don’t want to disappoint you Dear, but I just realized I have an early meeting with a wholesaler and need to be to the showroom by ten. Best we drive back home tonight.”
Bessie nodded. “Sure. We can always come back. I’m looking forward to seeing the cottages.”
Cindy, Dorothy and Hubert nodded politely. David MacDonald looked disappointed. He smiled at Harry. “Maybe next time we can check out the pool and the hot tub.”
Harry nodded. “Sounds like a plan.” He pushed back his chair and stood up.
David MacDonald grinned at Bessie. “We Snouters aren’t nearly as stodgy as you might think.”
“Of course not,” Bessie smiled. “I’d never think anything like that.” She stood up .”Thanks for the conversation,” she said. She and Harry held hands as they exited the dining room and found their car.
I guess I’m not so sure as I was,” Bessie said as they drove home. “Something about that place…”
Harry nodded and breathed a sigh of relief. “I agree.”
“One thing Harry,” she said shaking her head. “When you do that new mattress commercial with the male models if I were you I wouldn’t wear a blond wig. It’s just not you.”

The drama in some people’s lives can serve as excitement, prompting the body to manufacture adrenaline, producing a pleasurable surge of energy.
There are scores of people in the world who seem to be magnets for calamity. They live their lives jumping from one difficult situation to the next, surrounded by unstable individuals. Some believe themselves victims of fate and decry a universe they regard as malevolent. Others view their chaotic circumstances as just punishments for some failing within. Yet, in truth, neither group has been fated or consigned to suffer. They are likely unconsciously drawing drama into their lives, attracting catastrophe through their choices, attitudes, and patterns of thought. Drama, however disastrous, can be exciting and stimulating. But the thrill of pandemonium eventually begins to frustrate the soul and drain the energy of all who embrace it. To halt this process, we must understand the root of our drama addiction, be aware of our reactions, and be willing to accept that a serene, joyful life need not be a boring one.
