Monday Magick Power Hours: Moonrise. Key Words:
Magick, dreams, health, love, home and family In the word Monday, we can see
part of the word Moon. In the romance languages such as Italian or Spanish,
this day of the week is called Lunes and clearly relates to the word lunar.
On Mondays, a variety of magick may be worked.
Because Monday centers on the energies of the Moon, things like psychism,
dreams, feminine energy, health, success in spiritual pursuits, domestic
matters, and things of family origin are especially important this day.

Sunday is the day of the sun, and yet today the moon is in Cancer, a most lunar and watery sign. So balance out your solar-aligned busy-ness and externally expressed action with some lunar introspection, cleansing, and loving self-care.
First, lightly clean and organize your space to create a more yin atmosphere while positioning yourself for more efficient yang action. Next, draw a bath. Add a tablespoon of sea salt to represent the ocean and the moon, and a few drops of frankincense oil to represent the sun. Stir the water in a counterclockwise direction with your left hand (to activate the water with lunar energy) and then in a clockwise direction with your right hand (for solar energy). Also light one white and one yellow candle to represent the moon and sun, respectively. Soak for at least forty minutes, as you feel yourself establishing an ideal equilibrium.

Sharpen Your Visualization Skills

Visualization is a major part of the magical process. This exercise will help improve your visualization abilities. You’ll need to do this with a magical friend or coven member. Here’s what you’ll need: a book/story you haven’t read, plain white paper, and drawing tools—these could be colored pencils, crayons, or markers. Sit comfortably and have your drawing materials in front of you. Have your friend read a short passage to you. The reader can’t show you any pictures. As your friend reads, “see” images in your mind. Begin to draw whatever you see or feel. When the reader stops, continue drawing if you wish. It can be as simple or detailed as you want. There is no right or wrong way to do this. It’s meant to strengthen your spellcasting skills. You can also reverse roles, and you can read to your friend.

Cornucopia of Abundance

Celebrate the harvest season by acknowledging the abundance of the season. Place seasonal vegetables or fruits around your altar, or create a cornucopia to place them in. Include written messages that communicate your personal wishes for abundance and prosperity. Sprinkle the messages throughout the contents of the cornucopia, or place them in an offering bowl on your altar. As the season progresses, use the items in the cornucopia to feed yourself and your family, and replace them as needed. It is important to continually use and add to the altar until after Samhain to show the cycle of giving and receiving. Also, sharing your items with someone less fortunate will help sustain and promote your own abundance and increase your prosperity.

Spell for Runic Work
Spell Date: Thursday, August 25, 2016
This day marks a Nordic festival celebrating the discovery of the runes. If you use runes, this is the perfect day to divine meaning from them, or to begin such a discipline in your magical practice. You may purchase runes or make them yourself.
To get them ready for divination, you can bless them with the elements: air, fire, water, and earth. Combine air and fire by lighting some loose incense on a charcoal block, and pass the bag of runes through the incense smoke. Combine water and earth by making saltwater, and sprinkle this lightly on the runes to cleanse them.
Place the runes in a dish on your altar, perhaps positioning them near other items charged for your magical work such as tarot cards, crystals, or jewelry. Let the runes remain upon your altar all night, then use them the next morning to do some divination work.

Heartwings Love Notes 739 Acceptance Of What Is
Heartwings says, “To dwell on what is not only conceals what is.”
Recently I found myself in the midst of a situation that was very uncomfortable, yet that I could nothing to change. There have been other times in my life going back to when I was a small child when this was the case, and so there were echoes from the past as well as the experience of the present to be dealt with. Being by nature a peacemaker, I have always found it difficult to deal with conflict. As I often do, instead of facing the situation that I was confronted with squarely, I kept wishing things were different.
To be sure that is a natural reaction. Few among us are willing to face a difficult situation without feeling regret as well as the desire to change it in some way to make things easier on everyone. Yet sometimes even with the best of intentions from all concerned, whatever is going on will continue. If I could have accepted this, I would have been better able to come to terms with what was happening. As it was, I had to work hard just to stay calm and keep from trying to help. I have been reflecting on this ever since.
The best that anyone can gain from dealing with a situation where one can do nothing is to allow for a greater sense of compassion to emerge in the heart. A wise woman once quoted me this ancient Hebrew saying: “If there were no grief to hollow out our hearts, where would there be room for joy?” As I have grown older and experienced more grief as well as regret, which is a precursor to grief, I have recognized that there is a treasure to be gained from it. Yet the treasure must be dug out from beneath the
stubborn, unyielding crust of denial.
The denial can only be dealt with by my conscious acceptance of my inability to make anything different. As I accept what is and interweave it with threads of compassion, I can come to terms with my own sense of powerlessness, the pride that weeps over that, and the need to simply let go. The road cannot always be smooth. If there is no grit under the wheals, they will slip and slide without progress. The sandpaper that smoothes the rough wood brings out the beauty of the grain. As I allow it to my heart can surely learn to grow.
May you make the best of whatever situation you are dealing with at the time.

Twinkletoes
All her life Eloise had idolized her aunt, the late actress’ Alice Thorn. Alice had perished in an airline crash in the Andes. Her body was never recovered, making the execution of her estate complicated and difficult.
One day a legal document arrived with a set of keys, stating that Eloise’s parents could have access to Alice’s possessions stored for close to twenty years in a facility near Portland, Maine.
Bill Thorn, Eloise’s father wrinkled his nose and sniffed. “Personally I wouldn’t be bothered getting it. Probably junk.” He looked at his wife Millicent. “Let’s just donate it to charity.”
“I want nothing to do with your sister’s stuff.” Millicent Thorn shook her head, pursed her lips and frowned. “Alice’s reputation is an embarrassment.”
Bill nodded. ”I’ll call the lawyer.”
“Please,” Eloise said. “First let me go look. When I was little she’d twirl me around and call me Twinkletoes. She gave me lollypops too.”
“You’ll be wasting your time,” Millicent said.
“I’ll rent a van and drive up.”
Bill eyeballed Eloise. “What is it about Alice you find so fascinating?”
Eloise’s blue eyes widened. “She was a movie star, dad. She led a fascinating life however brief: travel, oodles of celebrities for friends. I remember reading once that she went jogging with Princess Grace and ran around with Richard Burton between his marriages with Liz.”
“I wish she’d never been a member of our family.” Millicent grimaced. “She was a loose woman.”
Bill Thorn nodded. “Far as that goes, you couldn’t even call her a starlet, unless you count B movies. The only time Millie and I saw her on the screen was when she was dragged off by a creature into a lagoon.”
“Night of Death,” Eloise sighed, “I read about her in Cult America.” She crossed her long legs and leaned forward, her red curls framed her face.
Millicent shook her finger at Eloise. “She has a reputation, you know. If I were you I’d keep quiet about Alice. You haven’t been teaching at Hope High all that long. Furthermore, were to meet someone from a good family…”
Bill Thorn looked kindly at his daughter. “Your mother’s right.”
“Thanks, Dad, but I really want to see what’s left of my wonderful aunt.”
The next day Eloise rented a van and drove from Providence to a storage facility outside Portland. At the office she said she’d be emptying out the unit.
“Good riddance,” the proprietor said. “Sooner that stuff’s gone the better.”
“Is something wrong?” Eloise asked.
He shrugged. “I dunno, but more than once my night watchman has complained of strange noises coming from that unit. And Joe’s been sober for as long as I’ve known him.”
“Really?”
He lowered his voice. “Shrieks and loud laughter, probably wild immoral carrying’s on.”
“What do you mean?”
His face reddened. “I’d rather not go into it.”
Eloise thanked him, drove over to the unit. There were several large posters from what her dad had called B movies with Alice Thorn in various states of undress. A large steamer trunks contained costumes, shoes, evening clothes, and memorabilia.
“These will be great for the drama department,” she said and loaded the contents into the van.
Eloise started driving back, but decided to stop for the night. She checked into a beachfront motel outside Portsmouth. Curious about its contents, she jostled the steamer trunk into her room. As she fished for the key, the stench of a cigar surprised her.
“Humph, this is a non smoking room,” she said aloud. That’s when she heard the voice.
“Well look at you, Twinkletoes, all grown up.”
Eloise whirled around. Where had that voice come from? A shiver ran up her back. Was the motel haunted? Then she realized what the voice had said. “Twinkletoes?” she said. “Who’s calling me that?”
A diaphanous, scantily clad female shape with a familiar face appeared. Beside her stood a tall, lean man with a shaved head and a thick black mustache. He puffed his cigar and winked at Eloise.
Eloise gasped. “Aunt Alice?”
“It ain’t Marilyn Monroe, Honey.”
“I’m your niece Eloise. But if you’re my Aunt Alice then you’re dead.”
“Dead! Is that what you call it? Do I look dead to you Twinkletoes?” She nodded at the dark Latino beside her. “This is Ramon, Honey. At the moment he’s my main squeeze.”
“But Aunt Alice, your plane crashed into the side of a mountain in the Andes.”
Alice shook her head. “You seem so Providence, Honey. Slip into one of my gowns and let’s go grab some drinks.”
Eloise’s mouth fell open. Then she stammered. “I’m so happy to see you.”
Alice handed her a low cut, slinky cocktail gown. “Me too you too. Now put this on Twinkletoes.”
Eloise looked at Ramon, gasped again, and fled into the bathroom. She shed her jeans and tee shirt and slipped into the formfitting gown.
“Good,” Alice said. “Now let’s go have some fun.” They crossed the parking lot and went into The Seascape, a restaurant and bar.
Eloise looked from one to the other and blinked. Was this a dream? It felt very real. They settled her at a table and went off to find the bar. Feeling bewildered, she looked around.
“Well hello,” a neat young man approached her table. “I knew if I stopped here I’d meet someone special. I’m Todd Granderson from Boston. May I buy you a drink? Are you here alone tonight or with someone?”
“I’m Eloise, on my way to Providence.”
“Same here,” he said. “What a coincidence. I’ve recently been appointed to the math department at Hope High.”
Her eyes flew open wide. “Hope High? That’s where I teach, in the social science department.”
Eloise glanced nervously at the bar. Alice Thorn was running her fingers through an older man’s hair, while Ramon had his arm draped around his wife’s tanned shoulders. Eloise blinked. She couldn’t tell if they were visible to anyone else. She shook her head and turned her attention to Todd.
“How about some dinner, too?” He asked. Then he smiled. “Eloise you’re very beautiful. I’ve always had a passion for redheads. I hope we can see one another once school gets under way.”
He really did seem sincere. “Well, why not?” she said boldly. She glanced back at the bar. Alice smiled at her and Ramon winked. Then as they faded Alice blew her a kiss.

Keeping Your Energy Strong
Centered and Safe

Keeping our energy strong and pure throughout the day is vital to somebody that is sensitive.
Being a sensitive person in this world can sometimes feel very draining due to the fact that we are very receptive to the energy of the people and environment around us. Still, we want to be part of situations that involve small or large groups of people, and we would like to do it without becoming overwhelmed or exhausted. With a few simple strategies we can entertain at home and socialize in the world without running the risk of losing ourselves in someone else’s energy or giving our energy away. All this takes is a little time and practice, and the result—being part of social events without ending up depleted—is well worth the effort.
The whole purpose of this self-care ritual is to help keep yourself strong energetically when you are in a situation that could potentially be draining. For example, if you are having a party, you might take some time to prepare beforehand. Just as you spend time cleaning your home and preparing food, it is essential to prepare your inner home for the event. This can be as simple as taking a mindful walk or a cleansing bath, or engaging in any other activity that gives you energy. You can even just sit alone for a set period of time, tuning in to your energy and connecting to yourself so that you are less easily carried away by the energy outside of yourself. You may employ a mantra such as “I am centered and safe in the home of myself.” You can also charge a crystal or gemstone or any piece of jewelry with protective energy and wear it or carry it with you. This can be helpful during the event when just seeing it or touching it can remind you that you are centered and safe.!

This week`s Solar Eclipse is in your opposite sign and occurs just after Mercury turns retrograde in that sign and as Venus arrives in Libra. A Solar Eclipse is a form of New Moon and usually marks some kind of fresh start. In this instance, you could be courted by someone you worked for in the past and who is keen to revive that partnership. Another possibility is returning to something you wrote – perhaps even as much is two or three years ago, revising it and then presenting it in a few weeks` time. Rethinking, reinventing and recalling are all features of this period. There might even be a financial incentive to do so; but of course, since your opposite sign is involved, it may be that it`s developments in the life of a close friend or partner that have full priority. Indeed, it could be their return to a situation that warrants much discussion. Though nothing may be signed, sealed or delivered until at least the middle of next week, it should be apparent before the weekend that there has been a real break in any clouds that have formed and that though there is still much work to do, you are, at last moving forward.

Hi, I loved this. The story with Eloise and her aunt was great. I hate to talk about my blog but I noticed you visited my latest post and I wanted to reassure you that every single piece of divination equipment/cards were cleansed before I left them and Tabby has started training with spells and cards. And it gave me the chance to caution the girls about seeking protection and not doing anything risky while I was still considered cool. I’m so impressed with your writings (even though I’m behind) I felt I needed you to know!
