Light A Candle Today!

In many different traditions lighting a candle is a sacred action. It expresses more than words can express. It has to do with gratefulness. From time immemorial, people have lit candles in sacred places. You may want to begin or end your day by the sacred ritual of lighting a candle on this gratefulness. Or you may want to light a birthday candle for a friend. One single guideline is all you need: Slow down and do it with full attention.

August 24, 2020 – August 30, 2020

Oh boy, this could be a confusing week energy-wise. The planets are throwing a lot at us all at once. Monday and Tuesday, Mars square Saturn is like driving with the brakes on and this experience can lead to frustration, irritation, and possibly anger. Outside influences get in your way and you’ll see your hands are quite tied. Mercury, Uranus, Venus, and Jupiter make us want to escape reality altogether to avoid the seriousness of the situation. Don’t make any major financial decisions or purchases. Midweek Romantic encounters can feel magical and intoxicating and can lead to idealisms because Venus is dancing with Neptune, a total romance novel move. Reality check, this ‘feeling’ is temporary so do not invest too seriously in it or it could lead to future problems. Right behind this tête-à-tête, the hammer falls. Venus, Pluto, Mercury, Neptune mix it up again. This combination causes difficulties in relationships by inserting power plays. So, any attempts to manipulate your partner will have a serious boomerang effect. This is not the time to make decisions or choices, especially in relationship matters. Coventry candles for this week are Wicked Witch Mojo Outta’ My Way, Blessed Herbal Protection, Heart, Healing, and Truth and Justice

Here’s what you missed on this week…
You are so amazing you deserve a hype man.
When you are this good, it’s time to sing your praises.

Everyone has their specialty, their superpower as it were. Especially right now with how much the world is catawampus, we have all tapped in inner power and honed it to forward our survival in body, mind, and spirit.

TAROT CARD OF THE WEEKThe King of Pentacles

The King of Pentacles is all about material wealth, financial abundance, and worldly success.

When he shows up it indicates that you are feeling confident and successful at attracting and managing wealth. Not only do you identify opportunities for growth and success, but you also are able to manage your wealth, investing wisely for the long-term.

You can translate your vision into something tangible, practical, and often very lucrative. This isn’t about coming up with ideas and hoping for the best. You are doing the work to map out your plan of attack, gather your resources and manifest your goals.

You have the Midas touch! Everything you touch turns to gold.

When you apply yourself to your vision, you create huge success, particularly on a financial level.

The King of Pentacles is a reminder that you have created a rich life, not just financially but also spiritually, which will set you up well for the future.

Ask the Tarot: How can I not only attract wealth but also maintain it in the long-term?

Heartwings Love Notes 945 Keeping the Sabbath

Heartwings says, “A day of rest is a healthy and happy day.”

The early New England settlers took their Sundays seriously. People could be punished for doing any sort of work not permitted by necessity—cows, after all don’t stop producing milk nor animals go without feeding just because it’s the seventh day of the week, or the first, depending on your interpretation or your religion. While the Sabbath originated in Hebrew culture as a day of rest, it became a universal practice for the Christian world at large, migrating from Saturday to Sunday in 400 AD.

When I was growing up nothing commercial was open on Sundays except the drugstore. Church, of course offered services which we attended. Few gas stations served the public, and it was important to plan the Sunday drive on a full tank if possible. There was no running out for groceries if you didn’t already have them, and the Sunday roast beef, leg of lamb or chicken was part of the day in ours as in many households. My father would stop at the drugstore on his way home from church to pick up a couple of quarts of ice cream, packed tight by hand into round cardboard containers at the soda counter. To this day Stephen and I enjoy ice cream on Sundays.

The idea of the Sabbath was that a day to rest, a vacation from chores and duties, was good for human beings. For myself, I have for many years taken Sundays off. What that means is that I don’t do any unnecessary tasks that day: no laundry, cleaning, or other housework or similar duties. I try to do only pleasant activities like writing, and of course sending out my column and Stephen’s. Resting for me is more about taking my time to do what I wish to do than sitting down or taking a nap. It could mean baking something or trying a special recipe just for fun, or even going somewhere nice for a walk and to take photos.

I was inspired to write this column by one of my daughters who phoned us up on a Sunday morning we had taken to sleep in. When I said the reason we were sleeping in was that it was Sunday, she said “Oh, but when you’re retired, every day is Sunday.” I told her we took Sundays as special days, and explained briefly. Being retired for me doesn’t mean a rocking chair, it means I have the privilege of choosing what I want to do when I want to do it as long as I am mindful of deadlines, of course. I do love Sundays, and cherish the guilt free duty-less hours they hold.

May you take and enjoy a day of rest when you can.

Blessings and best regards, Tasha Halpert

Llewellyn’s Spell-A-Day

Back to School Spell
By James Kambos

School has started or will soon. This spell will help you focus on clarity, balance, and wisdom. It will help you achieve your academic goals.

You’ll need an amethyst gem or crystal or a smooth amethyst stone. These are available at gem shops and are inexpensive. Amethyst helps you attract wisdom and achieve clarity. You’ll also need a violet-colored candle (for balance) in a holder and a piece of paper. Light the candle. Then write your academic goal on the paper. Wrap the paper around the amethyst. Ground and center. Holding the paper and stone, say:

My goal in school I will achieve.
Amethyst, give me the clarity
and wisdom to succeed.

Hide the paper and amethyst and extinguish the candle. When you notice the spell is working, discard the paper. Keep the amethyst and candle for other spells. Perform this same spell separately for each of your academic goals.
Harvest Thanks
By Laura Tempest Zakroff

In many places, gardens are in full production mode at this time of year. If you’re growing your own garden, don’t forget to give back to the land spirits as you enjoy the fruits of the earth (and your own labor). Whether your harvest is bountiful or slim, you should remember and acknowledge those spirits.

Gather together a selection of your harvest, be it food or herbs, and make a small biodegradable (all-natural) bundle. At the edge of your garden or land, place it carefully, saying:

To the spirits of land, I offer my
gratitude for this harvest. May it
please and nourish you, as it has
nourished me. I honor our connection.

  • A bowl
  • A small object
  • 2 pinches of dirt from outside your home
  • Salt

  • A clover

This is my home.

This is my destination.

Sprinkle the object with a pinch of dirt and say:
My home is my sanctuary.

Sprinkle the object with salt and say:
May I be protected as I
travel over earth.

Sprinkle the object with water and say:
May I be protected as I
travel over water.

Pass the feather over the object and say:
May I be protected as I
travel through the air.

Place the clover on the object and say:
May I find luck throughout my travels.

Sprinkle another pinch of dirt on the object and say:
May I return safely home.

Extinguish the candles and carry the object with you on your travels.
Money Meditation Mini-Boot Camp
By Melissa Tipton

Choose a seven-day period to perform the following meditation each morning, holding your wallet or purse in your hands or lap while you meditate. Begin with this:

The flow of money in my life is
increasing in a way that is correct
and good for me. Higher self,
what can I do today to support
this healthy flow of money?

Sit in meditation for a few minutes or as long as you’d like, remaining open to guidance. Remember, you don’t need an elaborate plan; you’re simply looking for your next action step. Write it down and carry out your higher self ’s guidance throughout the day. Repeat this process each morning for a week.

This practice is a powerful commitment to co-creating prosperity, and it may challenge you to step beyond your comfort zone as you break out of the ego’s narrow perceptions of what is possible and embrace the ever-expanding reality of your higher self.
A Walk in the Sun
By Barbara Ardinger

Take a summer walk today. But remember to protect yourself; don’t walk when the summer sun is high. (One of the sun’s least welcome gifts is melanoma.) Go out close to dawn or dusk for your walk. Can you discern any changes in the light? How is the sunlight today different from what it was in February or May? One of the gifts of light is shadow. As you walk, look at the shadows around you. What do they reveal? Look at the shadow you cast. Do you cast a long shadow, either literally or metaphorically?

As you walk, greet the people you meet with a cheerful smile. Whisper blessings to the trees and plants. Notice that plants that seemed strong in June may be dry in August. Is there a lesson for us humans in the fact that some of Gaia’s green children thrive in full sun while others prefer the shade?
Get Your Mojo Back Spell
By Thuri Calafia

Sometimes life and love can really shake our confidence. We know we’re awesome. If only the people around us would figure that out!

For this spell, take a dark blue candle and use a small blade or wooden pick to inscribe it with symbols and words describing all the things you like about yourself. Enhance these markings with silver ink to make these qualities shine! Then take small pieces of paper and write “labels” of all the things specific people—or our culture in general—have said about you that you know aren’t true. Place these labels all around the candle on your altar.

Finally, place a fire-proof dish on your altar and focus deeply on your strengths. Light the candle. Take each label in turn and read it aloud and laugh at the absurdity of it. With passion, state:

I reject this label!

Then carefully touch the label to the candle’s flame. Set it in the fireproof dish and watch it burn, knowing that this untruth no longer applies to you. Repeat with all the other labels, and then, as the candle burns down, focus on how wonderful you know yourself to be.
Morning Commute Charm
By Ari Mankey

Draw or buy a small picture of a five-pointed star (pentagram) and place it on an easily accessible part of your car’s dashboard, with the single point facing upward. After it’s in place, trace your finger along the star and visualize yourself driving free of distractions, accidents, and heavy traffic.

When you encounter horrible traffic, dangerous weather conditions, road construction, or delays, touch the pentacle and say:

Safe and quick this trip shall be,
Clear and pleasant roads I see!

The charm will activate when you speak the couplet, and your driving condition will improve momentarily. Using this charm can also help you increase your patience, concentration, and attentiveness while driving.

September is Yoga Month: Crystals for a Yoga Practice

Any gemstone can help you connect with your practice! Crystals can “speak” to us in different ways and it is usually due to the fact that we instinctually need something from it. It may be that we are attracted to its shape, color or sheen. It could be its size, weight or properties, but whatever it is that draws us in, there is a reason behind it. When this happens at first glance, I often like to look up it’s metaphysical properties and color meanings. This often explains immediately why I was drawn to it. Below is a list of my favorite stones I use in my yoga practice. I hope you find a stone or two that calls to you!

This ancient petrified resin has electromagnetic properties. It is excellent at detoxification and protection from other people’s energies. Due to its strong connection to nature and the earth, amber is a great stone for grounding our higher energies. Amber can add stability to your life and your yoga practice. Helpful in clearing up depression and therefore, bringing about a positive mental state in your practice.

The stone of transformation and spirituality. It is used for contentment and meditation. Provides common sense and flexibility in decisions. Strengthens and enhances psychic abilities, imagery and mind quieting. This soothing stone is in tune with your Brow and Crown”Chakra. Amethyst takes you on this transition from the magic time of dusk to a conscious shift into a different place. Crossing this threshold is the lesson of humility, which Amethyst can teach us to flow with peace. The perfect yoga tool.

Coral is a rich blend of calcium and calcite. It resonates with our body and beneficial in your yoga practice as it is used to quiet our emotions and brings peace to our inner self and offer the lesson of diplomacy and concurrence. Coral facilitates intuition, imagination, visualization and expedites and accelerates the transfer of knowledge from teacher to student. This “sea stone” strengthens both circulatory and bone structure in the body therefore, it is good for us on and off the mat. Coral can be used alone or in combination with other stones. Coral has a true link with the past and can pass knowledge along.

Emerald is a symbol of love and good fortune. This stone is used for abundance, growth, peace, harmony, patience, love, fidelity and honesty. What better benefits to give to a yogic practice. Most effective on the Heart Chakra perhaps because it access desires held deep within. Emerald provides inspiration and helps those in need of balance, healing, and infinite patience. Helps the wearer gain physical, emotional and mental equilibrium. Valuable in meditative work, as well as healing.

This crystal is the most recommended stone for grounding and is associated with the Root Chakra, by encourages one’s survival instincts and is centering. Hematite condenses scattered feelings and turns fuzziness into mental clarity. It enhances concentration, memory, and practicality. Considered the symbol of life energy, hematite allows for more confidence, will power and boldness. Helps us adjust to being physical. Protective stone hematite is known to deflect negativity. It restores equilibrium, stability and brings our awareness back to the body. It helps one maintain their sense of self on and off the yoga mat!

Herkimer Diamonds:
These clear crystals closely resemble diamonds but are really quartz. Considered a “Dream stone”, they are used in for yoga meditation or under your pillow to enhance visualization, astral travel and dream recall. Most effective on the Brow and Crown Chakra, this stone shifts the brain powerfully into alpha/deep stillness. Amplifies and stores thoughts, energy; and can be used as a bridge to stimulate energy flow (kundalini) up through the Chakra centers, opening the Brow and Crown Chakra for a strong, clear channel for psychic awareness, intuitive insight, and yogic practice.

Himalayan Sea Salt:
Pure Himalayan Pink Salt is hand-mined in the Himalayan Mountains. This salt is known for its unique healing properties. According to the Global Healing Center, “this salt’s unique cellular structure allows it to store vibrational energy. Its minerals exist in a colloidal form, meaning that they are tiny enough for our cells to easily absorb them.” Himalayan pink salt naturally generates beautiful ions, which improve air quality and health. Place a few chunks in a bowl and place the bowl in your yoga room, meditation space or studio. Heat magnifies the natural healing properties of the salt, which makes them a must for any Hot Yoga practice. Click here to learn all about the healing remedies with sea salt.

This stone is a methodical and meticulous worker of practical, down to earth solutions. It has the ability to foster and nurture and its energy is used for grounding and protection. This makes it an exceptional stone for your yoga practice. Each color of Jasper has additional, specific qualities when used alone. Jasper is very effective when use on the Root Chakra. Jasper is a general tissue regeneration; mineral assimilation; and general healing.

In tune with emotions, water, and women, especially pregnant women, pearls are a symbol of pure heart and mind; innocence and faith. Because it is from the sea, it has watery and lunar elements, therefore it is used for balancing emotions, especially for water signs. Wonderful for pregnant mommies who do yoga. Pearl is the result of layer upon layer of substance produced to combat irritation, which in turn, makes it cooling, soothing and very nurturing.

This angelic crystal is considered a powerful, loving, healing, spiritual stone. It is believed to be one of the highest vibrational crystals yet discovered. The clearer the stone, the more intensely it opens the Third Eye, Crown Chakra, and Transpersonal Chakra as a white light channel. Hence, its aura clearing abilities are phenomenal! This stone ignites clairvoyance/spiritual communication, meditation, astral travel, as well as life journeys. Energizes meridians and the healing of other stones. It helps one to go further in a trance state and gives a deeper awareness of one’s inner structures. Phenacite can be used to amplify the energies of other stones used for healing and to balance energy within one. The perfect stone for a yoga practice.

Quartz: “Rock Crystal”:
Quartz is the Master Healer and the “stone of power”! The natural tendency for quartz is for harmony. Quartz can both draw and send energy therefore it is effective for sending/receiving guidance within your yoga practice. Quartz is used for transformation in healing and in all levels of change (mentally/emotionally, physically and spiritually). Quartz stimulates the natural crystal in body tissues and fluids to resonate at the highest healing frequency. Quartz works with All Chakra and is the perfect stone for complete Aura balancing.

Clear Quartz:
This is thought to amplify both body energy and thoughts. It can assist in the creation of power, clarity of thinking, meditation, cleansing, clearing the aura, spiritual development and healing. Pure white light passes through it easily, leaving all the colors of the spectrum unaltered and giving substance to the argument that clear quartz crystals can help balance all the elements needed to make us whole and fulfilled. Amplify whatever influences are present in an individual or location. Acts as a purifier and tunes into the frequency of each individual. Will unblock specific areas or organs blocked from transmitting or receiving the flow of energy throughout the body. Helpful in guiding our search for the meaning and importance of existence. A must-have for any yogi!

Rose Quartz:
Rose Quartz represents love, beauty, peacefulness, forgiving, lovingness, self-love and emotional balance! There is no better crystal to help nourish your yoga practice. It helps us with issues of self-love and self-nurturing. As humans and as life students of yoga, it’s soothing influence helps diffuse negative stimuli and uncomfortable memories. Helps us discover the ability to love ourselves and makes us more open to others. It is of particular value in helping us to forgive ourselves, hastening self-acceptance. Helps us realize that all change is important, even difficult change. One of the best stones to bring honor and compassion into your practice!

Shiva Lingham:
Lingham is the sacred Sanskrit word for phallus. In Tantra, the shape embodies the masculine energy; dynamic expression and knowledge. The markings or Yoni depicts female energy; wisdom and intuition. The Tantric Shiva Lingham unifies the dualistic female/male world into harmonious balance. This Sacred Stone relates to the Heart Chakra, and represents the harmony and balance of the soul that is maintained within the hearts of all of us. Shiva Lingham stones are used for spiritual detox, allowing us to see the higher knowledge within ourselves. The stone gives us the capacity for hanging on to the beliefs which work the best for us and letting go of those beliefs which no longer serve us. When used during meditation, Lingham shows us how to connect with our physical and spiritual energies and therefore, our higher selves. The goal of any yoga practice.

Smoky Quartz:
Smoky Quartz is a grounding stone. It is used most often to overcome depression, nightmares, and stress. Quartz stimulates the natural crystal in body tissues and fluids to resonate at the highest healing frequency. Attune to the Root Chakra, it is good for inducing Alpha/deep meditation. It benefits also include channeling higher guidance, deep connection and helping with unconditional love. Heightens your understanding of nature and concerns for the environment. Because it is associated with the Root Chakra, it helps to alleviate fear, anxiety and associated emotional depression. When placed opposite other smokies in a crystal grid these stone vibrate at a high energy level. Wonderful for your yoga space.

Crystal Clusters
I love using crystal clusters in my practice. I have often used a quartz, amethyst or selenite tower in the middle of the yoga studio and have my students circled around facing the stone throughout the practice. Another idea is placing the stone(s) on my yoga mat as I practice, to remind me why I am here on the mat this day. Clusters of crystals bring a “group” energy to its surrounding area. They are used to foster protection, cooperation, purification, harmony, friendship, intimacy and to break up negative energy in the environment. Clusters help to keep all life forms energized and clear of heavy or unproductive energy.

This Is Why You Often Wake Up At 3 AM!
~Author Unknown to Me

You know the scene. You wake up in the middle of the night and roll over to check your phone, but you don’t really need to. You already know it’s 3am.

Most people wake up several times during the night. This is often accompanied by the body shifting its position. These nightly awakenings usually coincide with transitions from one sleep stage to another and are so brief, we often don’t remember them in the morning.

“The average adult awakens seven to 15 times each night, and this is normal,” says Michael Perlis, director of the Behavioral Sleep Medicine Program at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine. But the 3am wake up is one that can bring us out of a deep sleep and may make it hard for us to doze off again.
Historical reason

The reason for this 3am wake up can be traced back to before the Industrial Revolution, when people in Europe and North America broke their sleep into two segments: first sleep and second sleep. Due to the advent of artificial light, people were able to work (and play) much later into the evening. This meant bedtimes were pushed back later and later, disrupting our circadian rhythms and reordering our sense of time.

In this new Capitalist age, sleep become something one needed in order to do one’s job and was lumped together into a single interval of sleep, rather than the two we were used to.

You wake up at 3am because this is the time you shift from a deep sleep into a lighter sleep. If you turn in at 11pm, by three in the morning you’re mostly out of deep sleep and shifting into longer periods of lighter sleep, known as REM. Your brain is more active in the REM stage, so it’s more likely that you’ll awaken.

In the world of religion and spirituality, the 3am wake-up has great significance. Wayne Dwyer, who was a famed American self-help author whose first book sold 100 million copies, urged people to embrace the 3am moment. “Put your feet on the floor, get out of bed, feel the morning breeze, and listen to your inner thoughts,” he said.
Sleep restriction

If you are struggling with the 3am wake up, you may benefit from the sleep restriction method. It’s perfectly normal to experience this pattern of waking, so try to acknowledge it and wait for sleep to come again. If it doesn’t, you don’t have to just lie there feeling anxious. Get up and read or listen to music and try again once you feel drowsy.
Sleep hygiene

Avoiding stimulants such as caffeine and nicotine in the afternoon and evening.
Avoiding alcohol. Even though a glass of wine can help you fall asleep fast, it can disrupt your sleep in the second part of the night as the body begins to process the alcohol.
Exercise. As little as 10 minutes of aerobic exercise a day can drastically improve your quality of sleep. Aim to hit the gym earlier in the day though, as exercise can increase energy post-workout.
Avoid spicy or rich foods before bed. No more late night curry or ice-cream parties — these can trigger indigestion and heartburn which is uncomfortable and can wake you up.

Practicing what is known as good “sleep hygiene” can significantly increase your chances of having a good night’s sleep. Sleep hygiene practices include:

Hearing Your Angels Through Nutrition ~6 Foods and Drinks that Block Your Intuition
by Jaclyn Webb

I’m doing everything I can to live a spiritually based life right now. I meditate daily, pray, say my affirmations, count my blessings, and have finally settled into a career that’s on track with my life purpose. Through experience, I’ve found that in order for me to live a spiritually based life, I MUST be able to hear my angels, aka my intuition. When I don’t have my intuition guiding me throughout the day, my decisions are made from my head, not my heart. I start living like I used to – from my head and not my heart. And everything in my life seems to get off track and get a little messy. I find it harder to connect with my friends and family, because I’m connecting from ego, not my higher self.

My goal is to be living out of my heart, as much as possible. This is when I’m aligned with the universe, and things start to work in my favor. I feel like I’m living my higher purpose. Because of this, I want to do anything I can to hear my intuition! What I’ve found on this journey, is that you can’t ignore the effects of nutrition for hearing your angels. Whenever I eat some of these common foods, my clairaudience goes away. I feel disconnected from others. It’s like my radio frequency to my angels changes, and I CAN’T. GET. THROUGH. TO. THEM!

When I’m giving a Reiki session, I am guided by my intuition. My guides tell me areas to treat, as well as transmit important messages during the healing. My sessions are most powerful and healing when I’m clearly connected to my intuition.

Here are common foods and drinks that block your intuition

  1. Coffee (or any type of caffeine) – Yes, this is not what I wanted to hear either. I wanted to be in denial. However, the countless times I’ve experimented with caffeine and tried to truly connect with my intuition, it was extremely difficult. Even if cutting down on caffeine isn’t a step you choose to make right now, the awareness here will help you in the long run.
  2. Kombucha – Even the small amounts of caffeine found in kombucha is enough to cloud your intuition. I’m a self-reformed kombucha addict, so I share the true love many of you have with kombucha. However, this is one to keep in mind, as the small amounts of caffeine found in kombucha will energetically affect you. Same goes for decaf coffee.
  3. Processed Foods and Artificial Colors – So, I once ate a 5 calorie Jello. Yes, times were desperate. Afterwards, I tried to do an intuitive reading with my sister and I couldn’t hear anything from my guides! Artificial colors and processed foods throw your body off balance. The more your body is energetically aligned, the more you can hear your angels.
  4. Cheese (or dairy foods) – Yes, another unfortunate one! Dairy has a chemical mechanism in it that is similar to an opioid, which blocks your pain receptors. So it is essentially dulling your senses. When you dull your senses, you can’t as easily key into the senses necessary to hear your angels.
  5. Sugar – Particularly the sugar found in baked goods, candy, and processed foods; but not so much the natural sugars found in fruit. Sugar overexcites your brain. It gives you a “high”. The “high” takes you away from the necessary state you need to be in to hear your angels, which is being “grounded” and in touch with your body.
  6. Food Allergies and Sensitivities – This category applies to anything that you have trouble digesting, or creates an immune response in the body. If your nervous system is on overdrive from something you ate and cannot properly digest, you are out of balance. Your energy is going towards reestablishing balance in the body from the food offender, not hearing your angels. Your senses are in overdrive, not balanced, which is the state where you can best hear your angles.

In summary, anything that “numbs” you or alters your state of mind, is going to affect your intuition. It’s important to be balanced and grounded to key into your intuition. This is why water and natural foods, such as organic fruits, vegetables, and proteins are going to be your best bet for living a full life from your heart!

Appreciating Suggestions
By Madisyn Taylor

People will always have an idea about how you should live your life, but your idea is the only one that matters.

As children, our parents had dreams for us. They wanted us to do well in school, and to do whatever was necessary to reach our highest potential. Later in life, friends may try to set us up with their idea of the perfect partner or the perfect job. Spouses may have agendas for us, too. People close to us may have ideas about how we should live our lives, ideas that usually come from love and the desire for us to be happy. Other times, they come from a place of need within them–whether it is the parent who wants us to live out his or her dreams or the friend or spouse who wants us to play an already-defined role. Whatever the case, we can appreciate and consider those people’s input, but ultimately we must follow our own inner guidance.

There may come a time when all the suggestions can become overbearing. We may feel that the people we love don’t approve of our judgment, which can hurt our feelings. It can interfere with the choices we make for our lives by making us doubt ourselves, or filling a void with their wishes before we’ve had a chance to decide what we want. It can affect us energetically as well. We may have to deal with feelings of resistance or the need to shut ourselves off from them. But we can take some time to rid ourselves of any unnecessary doubts and go within to become clear on what we desire for ourselves.

We can tell our loved ones how much we appreciate their thoughts and ideas, but that we need to live our own lives and make our own decisions. We can explain that they need to let us learn from our own experiences rather than rob us of wonderful life lessons and the opportunity to fine-tune our own judgment. When they see that we are happy with our lives and the path we are taking to reach our goals, they can rest assured that all we need them to do is to share in our joy.

The Purpose of an Altar
By Madisyn Taylor

The purpose of having an altar in your home can be as simple as reminding you to take time for serenity each day.

If you didn’t grow up with an altar in your home, having an altar now may seem like an exotic and unattainable idea. Yet having an altar does not have to be complicated or difficult, nor does it need to be based on a religion or a set of ideas that don’t seem to relate to you. An altar can be a simple, personal expression of what you want to focus on right now. You do not have to build anything or take up a lot of space. You do not have to buy anything new or follow a complex set of instructions to create your altar. All you have to do is have a general understanding of what an altar is and the willingness to allow yourself access to this wonderful, ancient tool of transformation.

At its most essential, an altar is simply a raised structure that serves as a resting place for meaningful objects. It focuses the eye and provides a place for contemplation and, if so desired, ritual. All of these elements can be quite simple. One idea for a simple altar is a pot with a bulb planted in it, set on a box. This altar to growth can act as a reminder to you that all living things bloom in their time. A simple ritual might be to write down dreams you would like to see come to fruition on scraps of paper. You might place these scraps of paper in the box, or under the flowerpot, or in an envelope you prop against the pot. As the flower grows, so will your dreams.

If you look around your home, you may find that you have already created altarlike arrangements without even really thinking about it; this is something we humans do quite naturally. A candle, a decorative box, and a vase of flowers are just a few of the common household objects that lend themselves naturally to the creation of an altar. Simply add intention and intuition, and you have created your first altar. Remember that it isn’t necessarily about the objects you place at your altar–it is the time you spend with it daily, taking the time to be with it for your sacred time.

The ‘Sixth Sense’ of Animals — An Earthquake Warning System?
Analysis by Dr. Karen Shaw Becker
August 20, 2020

Anecdotal reports are quite common detailing animals’ unusual behaviors prior to earthquakes, which suggests they have a ‘sixth sense’ that alerts them to the coming natural disaster
To find out whether animals really do alter their behaviors prior to an earthquake, researchers studied the movements of cows, sheep and dogs living in an earthquake-prone area in Northern Italy
Unusual behavioral patterns emerged in the animals up to 20 hours before an earthquake, with the strange behavior starting sooner the closer the animals were to the epicenter
To serve as an early earthquake warning system, animals could have a chip on their collar that sends movement data to a central computer every three minutes, which triggers a warning if increased activity is observed for at least 45 minutes
Since December 2019, the researchers have measured real-time data from the animals, which did trigger one warning; a small earthquake occurred three hours later
The researchers are using the International Cooperation for Animal Research Using Space (ICARUS), a global animal observation system on the International Space Station, to potentially create an animal early warning system for natural disasters
In 373 B.C. in Greece, it’s said that rats, weasels, snakes and even centipedes fled their dwellings in search of a safer environment days before a significant earthquake struck the area.1 It’s the earliest known reference to animals sensing earthquakes before they occur, but it’s far from the last.

More recently, the 1975 Haicheng earthquake in China was reportedly anticipated after people observed snakes and rats leaving their burrows during the winter.2

Anecdotal reports are quite common detailing animals’ unusual behaviors prior to earthquakes. Such behavioral changes have been observed from moments to weeks before an earthquake, and has been observed among a wide range of species, including animals, fish, birds, reptiles and insects.3

There’s currently no reliable way to forecast for earthquakes, so researchers have been looking into whether animals could give clues to coming earthquakes, allowing warnings to be sent prior to their occurrence.

Scientists from the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior in Konstanz/Radolfzell and the Cluster of Excellence Centre for the Advanced Study of Collective Behaviour at the University of Konstanz are among them, and they’ve revealed that animals really do appear to have a sixth sense when it comes to predicting earthquakes.

Observing Animals’ Motions May Help Predict Earthquakes
To find out whether animals really do alter their behaviors prior to an earthquake, the researchers studied the movements of cows, sheep and dogs living in an earthquake-prone area in Northern Italy. Accelerometers were attached to the animals’ collars, providing continuous 3D motion data.

Because some evidence suggests that collectives of animals may better sense impending earthquakes than individuals, the study involved a group of animals living at the same farm, which is located near the hypocenter (the underground epicenter of an earthquake) of the powerful Norcia, Italy earthquake that struck in 2016.

The six cows, five sheep and two dogs in the study had previously demonstrated unusual behavior prior to earthquakes.4 Data was collected from three different periods spanning October 2016 to April 2017, and included times when the animals were in a stable or on pasture. During this time, 18,000 earthquakes were officially reported in the region, including 12 that had a strength of 4 or higher on the Richter scale.

After evaluating the body accelerations of the farm animals, which acted as a measure of activity level, and using statistical models, the study found that unusual behavioral patterns emerged in the animals up to 20 hours before an earthquake, with the strange behavior starting sooner the closer the animals were to the epicenter.

“The closer the animals were to the epicentre of the impending shock, the earlier they changed their behaviour.

This is exactly what you would expect when physical changes occur more frequently at the epicentre of the impending earthquake and become weaker with increasing distance,” Martin Wikelski, director at the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior and Principal Investigator at the Centre for the Advanced Study of Collective Behaviour, said in a news release.

Gilberto’s In-laws by Stephen Halpert

Gilberto drummed his fingers on the steering wheel as he, Maria and Joey drove to the hotel to meet Maria’s parents for dinner. It was the night before the engagement party.
“You ok?” Maria said.
He nodded. ” This is new for me. I don’t know what to say.”
She smiled. “That’s how I always felt around them. Then I realized it was easier to just listen and agree and let them do the talking. Talk comes easy to mom. She has opinions for everything.”
“How about your dad?”
“Oh, you’ll like Edwardo. Everyone does. And he’s got lots of opinions too.”
Gilberto laughed. “Is that why you left home when you did, too many opinions?”

“Who knows,” she smiled. ” I left because I had to. Mom was not well, and having me around wasn’t helpful. Even though it might seem a little unorthodox, I’m glad I lived my life the way I did.” She looked back at Joey, engrossed in cartoons on the tablet Gilberto had given him for his seventh birthday.
“You’ll meet them shortly,” she said. “Unless of course you want to skip it, and we’ll go have pizza.”
“Of course, I want to meet them. They’re your parents, my new in- laws. I mean, they flew up from Florida.”
Maria chuckled. “Well don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
When they reached the hotel, Alicia and Edwardo Sanchez were already seated in the dining room. Alicia was a tall, somewhat stern looking, woman wearing enough thick gold jewelry to warrant a Brinks detail. As they approached, she waved her long, painted, beringed fingers and smiled.
Edwardo was short, stout and built like a professional athlete. His thick combed mustache dominated his face. Gilberto noticed he had the same soft eyes as Maria. He hugged his daughter. “It’s been too long,” he said. Quietly he took an envelope from his inside jacket pocket. “For your nuptials.” He hugged her again, then sat back down.
“Thanks daddy.” She kissed him and tucked it away in her bag.
Alicia shook her head. “You’ve always spoiled her.” She told Edwardo. Looking at Gilberto she said, “Be careful when you tangle with a woman spoiled by her father.”
Gilberto smiled. “Pleased to meet you,” he said, extending his hand.
Tears of joy filled Edwardo’s eyes. “My daughter the revolutionary.” He shook hands with Gilberto. “Joey,” he said. “You’ve grown so much.”
“Hi grandpa,” Joey smiled and hugged him. “Gilberto saved my life. It was on TV and in the newspapers.”
Alicia eyed Gilberto. “I assume you do some sort of work?”
“Gilberto is the Director of shipping for Atlas,” Maria said proudly.” But Alicia paid no attention. “In our family we don’t believe in divorce.” She fixed him with a steely stare. “I’m sure you’ll both be very happy but if not stick with it anyway. In marriage there’s no turning back.”
“Thank you,” Gilberto said. “I love Maria.”
“And please don’t listen to what my daughter has to say about me. Sometimes a mother can do nothing right.” She sniffed and shook her head slightly.
“Oh Grandma,” Joey chimed in. “Mom always says what a great mom you were when she was little like me. She told me once you took her to the circus and a monkey peed on your hat.”
Alicia’s face reddened. “You remember that of all things.”
“But at least you were wearing a hat,” Edwardo said. “It could have been worse.”
She tapped her long greenish blue fingernails and softly said “thank God it wasn’t worse than it was. All a mother can do is worry and dwell. But that’s a mother’s prerogative.”
The waiter interrupted with their drink orders. They toasted the future nuptials.
Observing Alicia, Gilberto wondered if she had ever really been happy, and if not, why not.
Alicia sighed. “If only Joe could be here to celebrate with us,” she said.
Edwardo grimaced, Gilberto looked from one to the other, and Maria’s lips formed a thin line.
Joey broke the silence. “I hope you can be happy, Grandma.”
Alicia turned, a sad smile on her face. “Of course I’m happy. What a terrible thing to insinuate.” She looked at Eduardo.
“Now Alicia, this is a special, joyous occasion. What’s past is past, and we must move on,”
“Please mom, Maria said.”
Alicia shook her head. “Your brother rests in heaven in the arms of Jesus.”
Maria looked at Gilberto. He blinked. She had never mentioned a brother. “How did he pass?” he asked.
“In the hurricane,” Maria said. He was on the beach and must have been swept out by the undertow. They found him eventually and brought him home.”
Edwardo shook his head and sighed. “We wanted him to stay indoors. But my children are headstrong.”
Maria took Gilberto’s hand. “Do you think I’m headstrong?”
He held her hand and saw sorrow deep in her eyes. “I think you’re strong in every way you can be.”
“It’s ok, Grandma,’ Joey said. ” I say my prayers. I pray for you and Grandpa every night, and for my uncle Joe I was named for.”
Alicia reached over and patted his shoulder. “You’re a good boy.”
The waiter had been hovering nearby and now he served their plates. “I took the liberty of ordering for us all,” Edwardo said. He unfolded his napkin with a flourish and tucked it under his chin. “Filet mignon all around,” he said proudly. I just sold a big commercial building and made a bundle.”
Alicia looked at him, and Gilberto saw the fondness in her smile. “That’s my Edwardo,” she said. “Sparing no expense for those he loves.”
For a time, everyone devoted themselves to their food. Finally, pushing back his empty plate, Edwardo looked at Maria. I wish you were closer to us,” he said. “I must admit I miss my daughter but I know she must find her own way, even if she’s far from us.”
Maria smiled back. “Thanks Dad. You are wonderful. You both are. I know I’ve disappointed you Mom, but I had to go. You were so depressed after Joe’s passing and I couldn’t be helpful.” She sighed and looked at her mother with a sad expression. “It’s like sometimes I felt you wished I was gone and he was still with you.”
A tear glistened in Alicia’s eye and she dabbed at it with her napkin. Edwardo spoke: “All past and done, now we have something to celebrate.”
Gilberto picked up his glass. “To a glorious future for us all,” he said.
They all clinked glasses and drank. The waiter arrived, notebook in hand to take dessert orders. “Cake,” said Joey looking to Gilberto who nodded.
“With some hot fudge sauce and maybe a scoop of ice cream,” Gilberto added.
“I’m glad for you and Gilberto,” Alicia said. “He’s a fine man. I can tell.”
Maria smiled. “He’s my hero,” she said softly. “Now without Gilberto, I would be lost.”
After thanking Edwardo, Gilberto, Joey and Maria finished their desserts and got up from the table. Suddenly a tall dark-haired woman rushed up to Gilberto and threw her arms around him.
“I’m back,” she said gleefully. ” What I thought would be three months turned into over a year.” She grinned at him fetchingly. “Now we can make some plans.”
Gilberto’s face was solemn, and his arms stayed at his sides. He stepped back and turned to Maria. “This is Lola Cortez, my friend Ramon’s wife’s sister, and this,” he gestured, to them is my fiancée, Maria Sanchez, her son Joey, and Maria’s parents. Tomorrow’s our engagement party.”

Weekly Horoscope
by Georgia Nicols

This is a strong time for the Earth Signs – Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn. Not only is the Sun in an Earth Sign for the next four weeks, (along with Mercury for the next two weeks); Saturn, Pluto and Jupiter are also in Earth signs. Even Neptune and Venus in Water Signs are favourable to Earth Signs. “Elementary, my dear Watson.” Actually, this makes it a copasetic week for all signs. Kinda like – “What’s good for the bee is good for the swarm.” (This has little to do with, “What’s good for the goose is good for the gander” and nothing to do with “Your goose is cooked!”

Aries (March 21-April 19)
Despite this emphasis on Earth signs, fiery Mars, your ruler, continues to be in your sign (as it will be for the rest of the year) pumping you with energy and making you aggressive, proactive and confident! This will be particularly obvious in the next four weeks, as you begin to work harder than ever to accomplish what you want to get done. In the month ahead, not only do you want to work hard you want to work smarter. In other words, you want to get better organized in every aspect of your life. Your focus will be on efficiency and effectiveness, and you will strive to make every action count. Because you’re setting the bar so high, you want to improve your health as well! “I want it all!” (And why not?)

Taurus (April 20-May 20)
You’ll be going gangbusters in the next four weeks because you are an Earth sign, and there is a huge beneficial energy for the Earth Signs right now. Specifically, the Sun will urge you to play and have fun! You will want the freedom to express yourself and do your own thing. This is why you will focus on amusing diversions and recreational pursuits! You will be free-spirited and your relationships will feel lighter than usual. Relations with children will improve. Romance will be fun and pleasurable. You will be more inclined to use your mind for amusing past times like reading, writing, playing games and doing puzzles. You won’t feel you have to justify whatever you do with a practical reason.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)
You will prefer to hide and cocoon at home during the next four weeks. You might also be more involved with a parent than usual. You will feel happy to be in familiar surroundings. You will enjoy private time for contemplation. Many of you will be reminded of past memories from your youth. In fact, you might find it reassuring to talk to a counsellor or good friend at this time because you will tend to want to do some psychological self-evaluation. Family discussions and a focus on home repairs will also be likely. Fortunately, you will attract money to you in the next few weeks. And you will also want to spend money on beautiful things for yourself and loved ones.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)
In the next four weeks, your daily pace will accelerate with a busy schedule: Short trips, appointments, errands plus increased reading, writing and studying are on the menu. You’ll be dancing as fast as you can! Many of you will be involved in group discussions and conversations with others. This is not the time to settle down and relax. Get out and make things happen! Fortunately, fair Venus is in your sign now, which makes you charming and diplomatic with everyone you meet. Meanwhile, Mars continues to be at the top of your chart revving your ambitions and making you very bold about going after what you want. Use the next four weeks to clarify important issues with others.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)
The next four weeks are the perfect time for you to reflect upon your values and whatever it is that you think is most important in life. Curious how we often do not take the time to define what matters most to us? It’s important to know what matters most because then you know how to make the correct decisions. You also know what to encourage in your life and what to discourage. Many of you will be focused on money, earnings and your possessions. You might want to take a critical look at what you own and get rid of what you no longer need. It takes up space and you have to take care of it. Get rid of it!

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)
Dear Virgo, the Sun is in your sign for the next four weeks, which happens only once a year. This gives you a major boost! Plus, it attracts people and favourable situations to you. Therefore, make the most of this window of time! Mercury is also in your sign for the next few weeks, which is why you’re chatty and eager to share your ideas with others. Mercury excites your mind, making it jump even faster from issue to issue. Don’t get carried away. Stay calm. This is a great time to get out and travel or take short trips if you can. It’s okay to put yourself first because this is your time in the Sun! It’s all about you!

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)
Your personal year is drawing to an end. Therefore, use the next four weeks to ponder important questions. For example, what do you want for your new year ahead? I suggest that you define some goals because goals help you achieve what you want. They focus your mind and they make future decision-making easier. Goals also give you a sense of purpose. They clarify things and keep you on track. Relations with bosses and authority figures are excellent now. In fact, some of you might even begin a flirtation or a romance with a boss. Continue to look for ways to improve your home or to benefit from real estate speculation. (It’s possible!)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)
As a Water Sign, you will benefit from this heavy emphasis in the Earth Signs. For the next four weeks, you will be more popular! You will also be more involved in clubs, groups and organizations. Many of you will hang out with younger people more than usual. Note: It’s important to know that you will benefit from inter-reacting with others. Therefore, friendly! Reach out. Engage with others. Not only will you enjoy their company, you will learn something and also benefit from new contacts and introductions. Grab every chance to travel for pleasure because this will delight you. Furthermore, you deserve some time off because you are busting your buns hard working, working, working!

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)
Ta da! For the next four weeks, the Sun is at 12 o’clock high in your chart, which symbolizes that you are in a flattering limelight! Others will admire you, especially bosses, parents and teachers — and you don’t have to do anything special! (It’s smoke and mirrors.) Obviously, this is the time to make your move. Ask for approval or permission. Doors will open for you. Mercury high in your chart will boost your ability to communicate with bosses and authority figures, while Venus will attract money and financial support to you from financial institutions or your partner. Ah yes, it’s your year to get richer!

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)
Expect to get chances to travel or to expand your horizons in the next four weeks. You also might get further training or education or be able to explore new avenues in publishing, the media, medicine, the law and higher education. You might also be more involved with people from other countries and different cultures. Relations with everyone will be smooth because with Venus opposite your sign, for the next few weeks, you will find it easy to create a proper balance between yourself and others. You will also find it easy to express your affection for others. If you are in conflict with someone, you can make the peace. Nice!

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)
In a curious way, your feelings will become more intense and passionate in the next four weeks. This increased intensity will apply to a wide range of your emotional spectrum – anger, love, joy, fear, laughter and romance. Your desire to improve yourself might be stronger than usual, as well. Certainly, you are more willing to take a deeper look at who you are. In fact, some of you will do some soul-searching. Others might feel that their value structure is challenged. Most of you will spend some time on finances and dealing with jointly held property. Fortunately, relations with coworkers are excellent; and your ability to communicate to others is tops! (Clever you.)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)
For the next four weeks, the Sun will be directly opposite your sign, which will draw your attention to partners, spouses and close friends. Because of this polarized position, you will have more objectivity, which will allow you to view your own style of relating with t more honesty. (Yeah, it will be tougher to kid yourself.) Obviously, this offers you an excellent chance to learn more about how you relate to others, hence, how you might improve. Romance will flourish and be playful, lighthearted and fun! Likewise, relations with kids will be positive. Nevertheless, you are working hard to earn money – and also working hard to spend it. It was ever thus.

Weekly Horoscopes Beginning Sunday, 23 August 2020

If youre born within cusp period (16 to 26 of any month); youre advised to read horoscopes of both signs covered by that period. You`re in the border; you may have influences from houses within those signs.

Outlines are longer versions; consists of every possible detail of everyday and based on three parts of each sign: 1st, 2nd & 3rd Decan; that is, any of three divisions of 10° within a sign of the zodiac. Even if you know or don`t know your Decan; I recommend, please read all three Decan..

Personal theme: I am!!
Fire & cardinal sign: March 21 — April 19

Your horoscope for this week:

Most of the time, youve a knack for sidestepping tedious situations or, if that isnt possible, dealing with them swiftly. However, judging by the influence of Mondays clash between your ruler Mars and the painstaking Saturn, theres no escaping certain demanding matters. Some will be simple and informative but others will be both complex and pressing. In every case, the more swiftly you tackle them, the better.

Events constantly challenge you. People keep you busy as demands from your family and friends seem to be increasing. This leaves you feeling strangely powerless. You prefer to be in charge and you will be finding a way to take back control of your life. It isn`t a good time to do anything impulsive. For that reason, tone down any desire for something new. Add liberal amounts of common sense into your days. You need to know you are making good decisions.

Let your inner worker bee come out to play. Its often forgotten that Aries can be super fussy. You can behave methodically and efficiently and get quite a charge out of doing so. Until both Jupiter and Saturn change signs at the end of the year there is much concentration on your career and life goals.. You could make a considerable mark between now and early September by showing someone who thinks they hold all the aces that they likely couldnt play any of them without you. Delegation seems the key word too. You will need to take care though that having done so you don`t take on the role of backstreet driver and interfere while someone is getting a task off the ground.. Putting the reins on your fussy side could prove challenging!

Personal theme: I have!!
Earth & fixed sign: April 20 — May 20

Your horoscope for this week:

While this weeks major planetary focus is lifes pleasures, on occasion tricky issues will spring up. Although your initial impulse might be to sidestep them, for fear of spoiling the mood, actually its the reverse. If you respond immediately and frankly to the matters in question, and several are likely, youll not only resolve them, the resulting discussions could bring you closer to the individuals involved.

Finances are running low. Since you cant make basic economies in your social area as this side of your life hasnt been costing a lot lately, you may have to think about how to save money on household bills. Quitting a leisure club, you`ve not been to recently might also be a temporary measure that saves you some cash. Someone wants to involve you in some confidential plans. A part of you wants to share this with the world but you can be relied on to keep a secret.

Like a general in an army, once an objective has been identified, you are good at working out the practicalities, who should do what, and determining a comfortable pace for all. You could achieve all that and more this week. Yet we should also recall that Uranus is now moving through your sign. It is perhaps the case that you no longer want to work for others and need freedom and latitude to choose the goals. A wise employer would give you free rein. It could be argued that you will be at your creative best between now and early September and that left to your own devices you could determine a winning strategy.

Personal theme: I think!!
Air sign: May 21 — June 20

Your horoscope for this week:

As you begin this week, youll already be discussing and dealing with certain practical matters and, better yet, will be amazed how much youre getting done. Some are nothing new, but you were either lacking facts or others werent in a cooperative mood. Finally, things are falling into place. This continues until early September, when youll be able to turn some of those ideas into more lasting arrangements.

Youre trying your best to please a perfectionist partner. You respect their attention to detail and how they like to get everything right. Now it is starting to feel restricting and currently theyre expecting too much from you. You cant live your life on their terms even if you would love to make them happy. Frustrating setbacks and delays intensify the lingering after effects of recent troubles.. You cant wait for life to get back to normal.

With so much planetary attention at the very base of your solar chart, you will likely be like a cat on a hot tin roof. It might seem to others that you are popping up everywhere. This week you could be at your butterfly best, darting here there and everywhere – and even where that is not possible, still managing to plant ideas all over the place. Incubating and developing these though will probably require working in partnership – most likely with someone born under one of the Cardinal signs (probably Libra or Capricorn). Moving items from place to place seems likely too. There is also strong possibility of discussing property and its management; and then there are family affairs that could also be demanding. Anticipate then this will be a super busy week when your multitasking talents are put to the test.

Personal theme: I feel!!
Water & cardinal sign: June 21 — July 22

Your horoscope for this week:

In early August, Venus, which accents what you earn and own, as well as close alliances of every variety, moved into Cancer for a long stay, until 6 September. Although youve already convinced others to go along with your ideas and potential plans, a few still need attention. Tackle these now. Youll charm even those who`re usually impossible into doing things your way.

It is not yet time to reveal your future plans to your friends and family. There is still some uncertainty hovering over travel arrangements. Wait until the clouds of uncertainty and possible health hazards have cleared and everything has been booked and you know it will go ahead before letting others know what you will be doing. Mid-week is a good time to tie up loose ends. If you owe anyone an apology, get it out of the way before August ends.

Following on from last week`s New Moon and with Venus still moving through your sign, it would be understandable if you were marginally fretful. You may not be sure that others are doing the right thing. It might appear that they are rushing around without giving thought to consequences. Much as you wish to be supportive to feed, nourish, and help out, you perhaps also need to understand better their grand plan. It might seem – especially where those born under the Air signs of Gemini, Libra and Aquarius are concerned – that they are throwing ideas around without having thought through practicalities. The art may be to be clear about what is your responsibility and what is theirs. When it comes to your own career, an older person could have valuable advice to offer – and a suggestion as to how you could make better use of existing qualifications.

Personal theme: I will!!
Fire & fixed sign: July 23 — August 22

Your horoscope for this week:

Its not so much that youve been putting off certain practical or business matters as youve been short of facts, time or the necessary support. Suddenly, everything appears, and often in ways better than youve dared imagine possible. While, in certain cases, this means rethinking elements of your plans, the benefits you gain more than outweigh the inconvenience or reorganisation those changes cause.

Theres a fragile feel to a romantic relationship. Harmony is tentative at best. A number of problems have built up over the past few months. Feeling restricted and uncertain about so many aspects of life hasnt helped. You are starting to feel unloved and unappreciated. Even so, its not a good idea to complain too loudly. Circumstances will improve. Decisions made on Friday will be based on instinct. Being rational means nothing when its how you feel that matters most.

Dont underestimate your desire to experience something different. True, the cosmos has thrown much in your way since the start 2020 and of course, much depends on your actual birthday. Yet there is high probability that both working and domestic passions are overdue for overhaul. Practicalities have to be considered. You might also benefit from analysis and critical assessment. Dont take this too personally. You may need to suppress the Leo desire for applause and praise. What you perhaps need more is to review of how you dealt with the challenges of the last six months and, with enthusiasm building again from midweek, formulate plans as to how best to capitalise on what you`ve learned.

Personal theme: I analyse!!
Earth sign: August 23 — September 22

Your horoscope for this week:

Things arent just going well, judging by the links between your ruler Mercury and several of the planetary heavyweights this week, even seemingly complicated arrangements will fall into place. However, youll either be short of guarantees or unclear about your own long-term objectives. Thats fine. Youve until the Virgo New Moon, on 17 September, to explore your options and figure out how you`ll organise these.

A relationship has had its up and downs. The highs it takes you to are too high, the lows, too low. You need to talk and find a balance. You cant continue to live this way. Work on a compromise. You are starting to feel youve ceased to be a part of the professional landscape. Its as if no one is interested in what you have to say. Even when you reach out to those might be able to help, they dont hear your anxiety. Youre tired of being told it will be alright when it isnt.

With both the Sun and Mercury passing through your sign it could be argued that you should be on top form. However, this year, Mercurys Virgo transit coincides with Venus moving through Cancer. There is a side of Virgo thatover-thinks- resulting in high levels of anxiety. You will need to take care this week that youre not over worrying. You might also benefit from the company of those who have ridden cosmic storms in the past and yet are still smiling. It seems too, that a partnership with someone whose first language is not your own, will develop. Though again, you may have concerns about their plans, rather than worry about the difficulties they might be facing, you could perhaps instead focus on potentially positive outcomes using an existing network.

Personal theme: I balance!!
Air & cardinal sign: September 23 — October 22

Your horoscope for this week:

Of the twelve signs, youre superbly equipped to deal with tricky matters and difficult individuals, which is exactly what youre facing. However, in this case the actual situations in question are so exciting or hold so much potential, that youre being cautious about aiming too high. If ever there was a time to take a chance, its now. Go for it. You`ll be glad you did.

You are going through some anxious moments and you self-analyse a lot. Its hard for you to get your head around some things you are going through. You might trust the advice of someone you know really well. Theyve never got it wrong before and they wont let you down this time either. Dont be so hard on yourself and give yourself a break. Listening to soothing music or doing some art can help relax you.

Its possible youll go into imagination overdrive. The negative aspect is that this could escalate leaving you totally confused. Its arguably important that you reduce contact with those known for their apparently infinite capacity to upset your scales. Instead, you might do well to mix with those whose practical abilities seem second to none and who importantly, share your desire to look after resources and make fundamental improvements to a project. In this, it might be suggested that you renew contact with someone you havent worked with for some years. This could be a Virgo or Aquarius whose quirky ways might have irritated you in the past, but who you now see brought benefits and sparkle to your plans.

Scorpio & Ophiuchus
Personal theme: I desire!!
Water & fixed signs: October 23 — November 21

Your horoscope for this week:

Ordinarily when you care a lot about one particular individual or arrangement, or both, your approach to achieving your goals will be as discreet as it is focused. However, the current mood is more about extensive discussions regarding both your plans and feelings. Risky as this frankness seems, the way others respond makes it clear this is the ideal approach.

Avoid getting into a tangle with an irritable colleague. Keep a respectful distance. You can understand their frustration when for every step forward taken, you are being forced to take two steps back. New rules and regulations are getting you all down. Dont give up in trying to create positive change.. Focus in the many blessings around you. Small things can take your mind off the bigger picture thats going on right now.

This weeks challenge is to be organised. Put everything in its place. You might actually be in the mood to do precisely that as the Moon moves through your sign between Sunday and Tuesday. It may be a case ofenough is enough. It would be good if youd get this done as from midweek you are likely to be super busy with much communication headed your way. Expect a torrent of papers and facts, much filing to do but yes, also considerable excitement. Though you may have doubts as to whether or not certain plans are realistic, it should also be clear that unless a team works together, then nothing can be achieved. Your input may be invaluable. Perhaps because others now see you as a source of energy however, you will need to take care that someone (most likely a Cancer or Pisces) doesn`t drain your battery.

Personal theme: I see!!
Fire sign: November 22 — December 21

Your horoscope for this week:

The good news is that several promising plans or ideas, probably in a range of situations, will come together this week; but in many cases, this will require either that you compromise or relinquish decisions you feel are yours to make to somebody else. However, their ideas will be so inspiring and their company such fun that you`ll wonder why you hesitated for even a moment.

Everyone is being so helpful these days. All you have to do is ask and there is someone who will be there for you. Your partners contributions to a joint project are amazing. You may not have realised the scope of their talents. Youre taking more interest in community affairs and genuinely want to help sort out neighbourhood issues and concerns. Getting involved in a campaign will make you feel like you are helping to make your corner of the world a better place.

Sagittarius is known for forward thinking, so it should be unsurprising when others come to you for direction. Thats probable from Tuesday as the Moon moves into your sign. Having identified their goal, the art though may be to see if this can be fused with your own. True, this could lead to negotiations that – for you anyway- border on the emotional. That said, it is necessary to understand motivations. There is high probability that whoever does approach you doesnt know precisely where you are going within your relationship: perhaps wondering if youre about to ride off on your horse into the sunset. This applies at every level -particularly in the working environment. It might seem to some that youre less than focused on their needs and instead craving new adventure.

Personal theme: I use!!
Earth & cardinal sign: December 22 — January 19

Your horoscope for this week:

Once you understand that what seem to be battles over whos right or wrong about certain matters are only passionate discussions, youll listen and learn. Gradually your focus will shift, and youll gain powerful insights. Its the same with power struggles. Focus on shared views and you`ll soon be exploring together. Better yet, the results in the long run will more than justify the patience required.

A friend or colleagues fairly broad hints will leave you in no doubt they dont intend to devote all their time to responsibility. People are tired of being practical all the time and they just want to take a break. Keep calm, don`t put yourself in potential danger just because of fleeting frustrations. Are you single? A message from an old flame means an old love affair will be rekindled. You never expected it to happen this way but this puts a happier slant on your plans for the future.

Your knowledge and expertise are about to be put to the test and in a big way. Expect to be high profile by Friday but before then, to have encountered considerable resistance. Its probable that at least one person feels you are treading on their patch. They may need reassurance that you have no intention of taking over. That said, it would be understandable if you were quietly irritated both by their approach and how little they seem to have got done in recent times. Recall that Mars is presently passing over the base of your solar chart and being irritated is a common side effect. Tempering this and showing understanding for someone who is clearly out of their depth may be this weeks cosmic challenge.

Personal theme: I know!!
Air & fixed sign: January 20 — February 18

Your horoscope for this week:

Few things are more annoying than those who withhold vital facts, then explain they thought them unimportant. Yet, you could be doing that yourself, if unintentionally. With so much exciting going on, and changes as extensive as they promising, the more open you are about your own knowledge, ideas or connexions, the better. What`s more, this will inspire others to be just as forthcoming.

A colleague who has always thought themselves as better than everyone else is trying to undermine your confidence. Be ready to stand up for yourself when they challenge your abilities. Let them know they can`t make you feel small. Your creative ideas are charged with originality and very soon you will reach a special goal. Family and friends will be so proud of the progress you are making. This should be cause for a small celebration and it will be in times to come.

You could experience a values crisis. This may be less about whether other people have more than you and more about what they stand for and whats important to them. As you may know, three times every year Mercury appears to be retrograde. Its not retrograded presently and has completed what is known as its shadow period. Having caught up that planet seems to be moving quickly. That would go some way towards explaining why so many people will feel the urge to get active and get things done. Yes, you may be understandably irked that they didn`t get on with certain tasks long before now; and yes, you might wonder about their motivation.. You might do better to pour your energy into developing a new support network ready for the new business cycle that begins in your sign in December. At the very least, pay close attention to data management.

Personal theme: I believe!!
Water sign: February 19 — March 20

Your horoscope for this week:

Change is in the air. While youll be happy with much of whats taking place, youre likely to feel restless. Thats no surprise, because however worthwhile various arrangements and encounters are, theyre only part of the story. Whats most important are the breakthroughs, personally and in close alliances, promised by the Pisces Full Moon, on 2 September. Its those youre building up to.

Joining an online group or forum that caters to your interests and hobbies is a great way to be sociable. It will feel good to chat with like-minded enthusiasts even if just online. Take this chance to make new friends who you can mix with, travel with and party with in the future. You are starting to come out of your shell in romance and friendship and you won`t hold back from taking the lead. What an amazing transformation.

With both the Sun and Mercury in your opposite sign, it might seem that others are doing all the talking and experiencing all the busyness. You dont need to be clearing up after them. True, you may have real interest in the products and services they provide; and yes, you might want to accomplish various deals before the end of August. Its arguably important though that you understand precisely what is on offer and any other time limitations. The reorganisation of schedules and timetables, whilst challenging, could also bring you into contact with those who are similarly challenged. Arriving at amicable arrangements will presumably require attention to detail and understanding of travel times. Yet it is possible, that you will come up with a satisfactory solution that can at least be tried out.
