Light A Candle Today!
In many different traditions lighting a candle is a sacred action. It expresses more than words can express. It has to do with gratefulness. From time immemorial, people have lit candles in sacred places. You may want to begin or end your day by the sacred ritual of lighting a candle on this gratefulness. Or you may want to light a birthday candle for a friend. One single guideline is all you need: Slow down and do it with full attention.

New Moon in Virgo, September 17, 2020
Living with Moon Magic Patty Shaw
The Virgo New Moon is on September 17th and forms a lovely trine to Saturn in Capricorn. This will bring your focus to strengthening work relationships and building better rapport with your supervisors. The energy is also great for seeking a new job or a promotion.
Plus, Virgo is all about evaluating what exists and making improvements on it so your future is much brighter. This includes taking a good look at what you are responsible for. Did you screw up and hope no one was paying attention? Did you promise something and didn’t deliver? All of these circumstances want to be balanced and accounted for. You can use this New Moon to start the process of improving your current situation or moving on and looking for a better one. This is why our theme this month is stillness in action. To really dig deep, you need to stop doing and start reflecting. Let’s bring in some Coventry Magic to support you in your quest.
Find time to let the world fall away. Place a Blessed Herbal Truth and Justice candle in a candle holder and light it while silently requesting your guides and your own higher self to help you reflect honestly about your job. Allow yourself to become grounded, centered, and objective. Ask the truth to be revealed, even though it might sting at first. If you are feeling stuck, here are some helpful questions. Have I been doing my best at work? Where have I fallen short of my potential? What circumstances blocked me? Was there anything I could have done to handle them differently? Did I let my circumstances be an excuse for poor performance? Was I negative or closed-minded about my supervisor or co-workers in any way? In what way did that keep me from being helpful? Who or what am I blaming for things that didn’t go well? Is this a fair assessment? What am I missing or not understanding about the situation?
If you feel triggered or see some repeating negative thoughts, allow them to flow into the candle flame to be consumed. That will help you clear your head and hear your guidance more easily.
After you are done reflecting on your side of the situation, write down all your thoughts.
Your next meditation will be about the job in general. You can do this on another day or right after the first meditation. When ready, turn your attention to the job in general. Ask again that the truth be shown to you, even if you may not like it or it triggers a reaction. If you lose focus or don’t understand, use questions to help you. What do I like about my job? What don’t I like about it? Does this job energize me or de-energize me? Do I believe in the work, the company, their vision? If the work de-energized me, is there anything in my own attitude that is contributing to that? Is this work also my purpose or is this job meant to lead me to my next job that is more aligned with my purpose?
If you feel triggered or see some repeating negative thoughts, allow them to flow into the candle flame to be consumed. That will help you clear your head and hear the truth more easily. Again, after you feel complete, write down what you learn.
You may need to do this meditation more than once. The first go-around may have brought up biases and resistance or fear or anger. The next time you may be more calm and objective. Use this information to help you improve your situation at work or motivate you to find the next opportunity to fulfill your purpose. Other Candle Recommendations for this New Moon are, Querent Caller (Steady Work) / Road Opener / Crown of Glory / Healing. They will help you find a new job, get a promotion, or raise.

Tarot Card Of The Week
The card drawn for this week is the The Magician Reversed.
In reverse, the Magician shows you that you’re exploring what you wish to manifest, but you’re not taking action yet.
You are uncertain if you have everything you need and are unsure about how to make it happen. If you take care of what you intend to manifest, the Universe will work out how. Stay attuned to your intuition and pay attention to opportunities as they arise. These are like little breadcrumbs that will take you closer to your goal.
If you’re already acting on your goal, this can be a sign that you are struggling to see progress or success. You might have an idea but don’t know what actions to take to manifest it, or you are unclear on the desired outcome so your efforts are misdirected or unfocused.
This could also be a sign that your end goal is out of alignment with your Highest Good and the Universe is sending you a sign to stop, and go back.
Ask the Tarot: What needs to change so that I can achieve my goal?

Do you spend more time on daily chores than on your spiritual life? Do you feel a need for less work and more family? You need a balancing spell.
Gather these items:
* 2 three-foot-long ribbons (½ to 1-inch wide), one black and one white
* Paper and pen
Reflect on those parts of your life that feel out of balance. Write down eight that seem to take up too much time and eight that aren’t taking up enough, or perhaps eight qualities or behaviors you’d like to do more or less of. Write the “positives” on one colored ribbon and the “negatives” on the other ribbon.
Tie the two ribbons together with a square knot (a balanced knot) and then repeat until you have tied a total of eight knots. For each knot, say:
Black and white and dark and light,
I search for balance, day and night.
Bring an ordered life to me,
That I may feel more harmony.
Carry the knotted cords with you as a reminder until your goals are reached.
Autumnal Altar Reset
By Raven Digitalis
Spring cleaning was great six months ago, but now it’s time to get our house in order for the colder tides of autumn and winter.
Approach the altar(s) or shrine(s) in your home. Meditate on the physical items on each, considering how each one serves as a focal point or catalyst for your magickal work, ancestor worship, or other esoteric work.
One by one, remove each object from the altar or shrine and reset the space. Cleanse each item, tablecloth, and nearby sacred object with incense (a natural resin if possible) and wash it with soap and water (if appropriate). You may consider going throughout your home and doing the same with other sacred pieces.
As you reset the altar or shrine, use your intuition to put some of the items back in the same place and others in a different place. You may find that some objects “want” to leave the altar and others “want” to be honored in their place. Once it feels complete, declare:
Autumnal tides and powers
that be, this altar is enchanted
by fire, earth, air, and sea!
Lost Loved One Remembrance Spell
By Ari Mankey
Many Witches associate Samhain/Halloween with ancestors and lost loved ones, but such rites can be practiced at any time of year. Most years on September 11, I think a great deal about my family and those I’ve lost over the years. Reaching out to loved ones who have moved beyond the veil is not complicated and can be done whenever you need their guidance or presence.
Place a picture of your deceased loved one on your altar (or write their name on a piece of paper), and place something they loved in this life next to it. Follow this by repeating their name several times and then saying:
I love and miss you and
long for your voice.
Come to this place now
if it be your choice.
So mote it be.
Feel their presence around you and speak to them as you did when they were in this world.
Sweet Love Spell for the Sweetest Day
By Thuri Calafia
What do you have to offer to love? Make a list, however long you like, of all the blessings and gifts that go with having a romance with you. Next, list the qualities you seek in a partner. Be honest with yourself, but remember that if all you seek are superficial qualities, you will draw a superficial relationship.
Take a scrap of cotton cloth of a color you associate with romance, and cut it into a heart shape. Pile some dried rose petals, lavender, cinnamon chips, and barley in the center of the heart. Then concentrate on all the things on both lists while fluffing the herbs and chanting:
I know what I bring to the party,
And I choose love, so love chooses me.
I accept and deserve the best of the best,
By the gods, so mote it be!
Repeat the chant thirteen times, then tie up the charm with a bright ribbon and keep it on your person whenever you go out.
The Free Exercise of Will
By Michael Furie
There are times when we may feel blocked or stifled or shy and unable to fully express ourselves. The element of fire is linked to willpower and strength, so it helps to reconnect to this element in order to rekindle our inner fire and confidence.
For this spell, you will need a red candle and a hand mirror. Light the candle safely and gaze into the flame. Remember that as warm-blooded creatures, we all have a genuine direct inner connection to the element of fire. Look into the mirror and feel your confidence, drive, and willpower flare up, and say:
Strength and passion, personal
power; inner fire emerge this hour.
Return to me my confident will,
that my true self be fulfilled.
Extinguish the candle. Repeat the ritual as often as needed.
Back to School Success Spell
By Melissa Tipton
Back-to-school energy is in the air, making it a wonderful time to embark on a new course of study. If there’s a topic you feel drawn to explore or an area in which you’d like to hone your skills, be it magical or mundane, use this incantation to marshal support for your studies. Fill in the blank with your topic of choice (for example, tarot, baking, etc).
I call upon the spirit of
(fill in the blank)!
As I embark upon this path of
study, new learning, and growth,
ignite my curiosity; help my
thoughts and actions flow.
May all I learn expand my view
and hone my talents true.
Optional: Make a vial of carrier oil, like almond or jojoba, with a few drops each of rosemary and lemon essential oils, which aid in concentration. Hold the vial as you say the incantation, charging it with your intention. Dab the oil on pulse points before studying.
By Charlynn Walls
Today in the United States, we recognize the labor movement and the contributions and achievements of American workers. It is a great time to recognize and honor the deities that you partner with on a regular basis.
Think about the deities you work with and determine what a fitting offering would be for them. Gather those items together and write a small note of thanks, then put them all in a small bowl that can stay outside overnight. The bowl can be placed on a porch, balcony, or windowsill or at the base of a tree. Simply say thank you. You’ll be surprised at how much this simple recognition can improve your relationship with those deities.
9 Things to Keep On Your Ancestor Altar
By Patti Wigington Read
Setting up an ancestor altar is often the cornerstone, the very foundation, of working with your extended network of kin and clan for spiritual empowerment and personal growth. Much like a garden, with some regular tending—and a bit of occasional weeding—it can become a place where your spiritual work blooms and flourishes. By putting an ancestor altar in place in your home, and giving your people a space of their own, you’re carrying on a tradition found around the world, going back thousands of years.
The presence of an altar in your home—ideally, a permanent one—has plenty of benefits. First, it provides a degree of protection upon your house and everyone who lives in it, because now your home is also your ancestors’ home. They’ll look after it, and keep an eye on the goings-on around them. Second, having an altar —particularly one in a spot that you pass by daily—gives you regular access to the wisdom and knowledge of your people. Placing it in the living room or some common area puts it right in the center of your routine where you can’t overlook it. Get into the habit of speaking to your ancestors each time you walk by, even if you’re not doing a full-on ritual or meditation.
When you’re setting up your ancestor altar, especially for the first time, be sure to clean the space, both physically and metaphysically. Once you’ve done that, there are a few things you’ll want to consider having on hand. Obviously, if your spiritual tradition includes the keeping of other, more specific, items on your altar, do it—but these are some of the basics. If you begin with these nine things on your altar, you’ll be well on your way to a rich and thriving ancestral spiritual practice.
Altar cloth: It’s customary in many ancestrally focused traditions to include an altar cloth. Why? Well, it’s pretty simple—it makes the space special. After all, if you were inviting your grandmother over for dinner, you’d want the place to look nice, wouldn’t you? Of course you would! A cloth covering can make your ancestor altar feel magical. In some traditions, including many African Traditional Religions, the cloth is always plain and white.
However, if you’re not bound by the constraints of a particular tradition’s guidelines, consider using culturally appropriate fabrics. If your people are from Scotland, add some tartan plaid, or use a bright sari cloth to honor your ancestors from India. Do you have pioneer ancestors who traveled in a wagon train? Try using a simple calico or wool. If you’re not a fan of patterns, or don’t have access to relevant fabrics from around the world, plain black or white is just fine.
Photos: If you’re fortunate enough to have photos of your people, or the places in which they lived, add them to your altar. They can be framed or simply lie loose. If you don’t have a photo, that’s okay—was one of your ancestors well-off enough to have a portrait painted? If you’ve got famous (or infamous) kinfolk, you may be able to find images online to print out. Be sure to only use photos of deceased family members though—your ancestor altar is for the dead, not the living.
Family heirlooms: Tangible items that were physically handled by our ancestors can help establish a connection. Maybe you have a wooden bowl carved by a pioneer ancestor on a wagon train, or a pocket watch carried by your great-something grandfather, or a sewing kit that came through Ellis Island a century and a half ago. Physical objects bring our kinfolk closer. Keep in mind that what matters most is how relevant these items are to your ancestors, not to you&3151;you might not be Christian, but that doesn’t mean Grandma’s cherished rosary or a great-uncle’s Bible can’t have a place on your altar.
Artwork and symbols: Not everyone has access to photos and heirlooms. Is there some sort of artwork that represents your family heritage? Perhaps you found a sketch of the old family homestead, or you have a piece of jewelry that represents the country your grandmother came from. Did your ancestors inhabit a place that has a national flower, or can you hang a flag to symbolize their homeland? What about a musical instrument?
Perhaps you’ve found a painting of the castle where your great-something grandmother worked as a servant, or a wood carving showing a tradition or custom that was popular in the land they occupied long ago. Think outside the box, and come up with ways to decorate the area around your altar space in a way that’s welcoming to your kinfolk who have crossed over.
Food and beverage: In many ancestral traditions, of both today and the past, it’s customary to present your ancestors with a regular option for food and drink. Some spiritual systems encourage practitioners to keep a glass of fresh water on the altar at all times, changing it out on the same day each week. If your ancestors prefer something other than water, give it to them! Wine, whiskey, coffee, and tea are all perfectly acceptable alternatives—if you think they’re something your kinfolk might enjoy. Keep it in a special glass or cup that you only use on your altar; don’t keep your altar beverage cup in the cabinet with the rest of your kitchenware.
Have you ever thought about sharing a meal with your kinfolk? For many people, food is a love language, so why not cook a special dish just for your ancestors? If you don’t have the time or resources to do that, you can fix them a plate from your own table and add a serving to the altar space. Leave it in place overnight, and then dispose of it respectfully by taking it outside—don’t just dump it in the trash can.
Offerings: When you make offerings to your people, think about what’s appropriate, both culturally and individually. You can’t go wrong with items you’ve made yourself, whether it’s a home-cooked dish or something you’ve sewn, painted, or crafted. If you’re handy with wordsmithing, consider a prayer or even a song in your ancestors’ honor.
The more you get to know your people, the easier it will be to figure out what sorts of offerings they want and expect from you. Offerings can be as simple as a plant, stone, or a pretty seashell you’ve picked up. It should be something that they would be honored to receive as a gift, but it doesn’t have to be expensive or fancy.
Candles: Plan on including candles on your ancestor altar—and there’s a lot of room for different styles and needs here. In some magical traditions, white is the only color used, and unscented at that, but it’s okay to branch out. Ask yourself what your people would appreciate the most and take it from there. If your great-great-aunt loved the smell of jasmine, you can certainly use a jasmine-scented candle to welcome her into your space!
You can incorporate different sizes and styles of candles, although tealights and votives are great if you want to do a working that honors many ancestors at once. Designate each candle to represent a specific ancestor or split them into family groups. Jar candles are a fantastic option as well, because you can designate them to represent individual people&151;you can even attach pictures to them!
Handmade items: Are there craft items you can make to honor your people? If one of your ancestors was skilled in fiber arts, why not learn to sew or knit, and present them with a gift made by your own hands? Perhaps you paint, or woodcraft, or do metalwork. Maybe you’ve learned how to throw clay—can you make a small statue representing your heritage, or even a simple offering dish? If you’ve ever thought about learning a new skill, especially one that relates to your heritage, this is a great opportunity to do it.
If you don’t think you’re crafty or skilled, don’t worry—you can write a letter speaking to your people, or even create something as simple as a thank-you note, expressing your gratitude for the blessings they’ve already provided you.
Divination tools: Your ancestors are a valuable resource for divination workings; they have plenty of insight and guidance to share with you! Keep your favorite divination tools on your altar so that you can communicate with family members who might have some wisdom to pass your way. Whether you use tarot cards, a pendulum, runes, or some other form of divination, keeping your tools on your altar will help charge them with your ancestors’ power and energy.
You may also want to create a set of oracle cards with your ancestors’ photos and other family-related images. Select a word or phrase for each card that represents what that particular ancestor symbolizes to you. Perhaps your immigrant grandfather represents perseverance and hard work, or that long-distant great-aunt makes you think of wisdom and knowledge. Assign each card a meaning and select one or two each day to tap into the insights your people have to offer you.
Whatever you decide to do, make your ancestor altar deeply and uniquely personal. Designate it as a place that speaks to you and also to your kinfolk. Welcome them into your home, give them a space of their own, and you’ll find that they’re going to bless you with abundance, wisdom, guidance, and protection—all because you took the time to get to know them and invite them into your life. Your ancestors ready to speak with you, if you’ll just take the time to listen to them. What are you waiting for?
Heartwings Love Notes 948 Always and Never
Heartwings says, “Being mindful of old habits of speech helps you to be kinder.”
I try to avoid the use of “always” and “never, as in “you always,” or “You never.” in discussions. These words are often used when someone is either complaining or scolding: “You always forget to shut off the light,” for instance, or “you never let me know when you’re coming.” Using these words is counterproductive, and unnecessarily critical. They do little to no good to communicate what a person is trying to get across. Furthermore, they are probably not accurate, but actually are an expression of feelings rather than being a fact.
I certainly heard these words from my mother over and over again. For most, especially parents, they are simply a habit of speech. What is important to remember is that they do not help. They often make things worse. They usually make the person addressed feel defensive, and then they are apt to deny doing or neglecting the act in question all the time. Too, the words will usually perpetuate the negativity of the conversation instead of helping to resolve the situation being discussed.
How often growing up did one or both of your parents use the words “always” and “never” to describe some act they hoped to correct. How did it make you feel? Did you feel criticized, perhaps unjustly? When another adult uses the same words, it is even worse. I try hard not to speak them because I don’t like how I feel when someone says them to me. They feel like a judgement of my character or my efforts. They feel unjust, and arouse a sense of protest, making things worse for me and for the other, as well. If I make an effort to be conscious of what I say when I am speaking, it is easier to stop unhelpful but habitual words and phrases from being spoken aloud.
Too, these words can cause hurt. There is no need for them. Instead of being an honest statement of how someone feels, they are an apparent criticism, pushing the argument along. What might be better and more effective would be to say, “When you forget to lock the door, it makes me feel …” or “When you forget to turn out the light, I get upset because it is a waste of energy-or drives up the electric bill.” This approach helps to heal the situation, not make it worse. When we become aware of this habit if speech, we can communicate more effectively, and everyone benefits.
May you be able to hear yourself when you avoid honestly expressing feelings.
Blessings and best regards, Tasha Halpert

The Gift of a Positive Image
By Madisyn Taylor
It is important that we all find people that believe in us, just as we believe in others.
There are times in our lives when we may find ourselves facing challenges that can seem overwhelming. The situation or task we are struggling with seems hopeless, and it is easy to stop believing in ourselves, our goals, and our dreams. It is during these moments that it can be reassuring and reaffirming to turn to the people in our lives who do believe in us, especially when we are finding it hard to believe in ourselves. An encouraging word, a reassuring look, or hearing the words “I believe in you” from someone who matters can help us turn our situations around in an instant.
Everybody has someone who believes in them, whether this person is a teacher, parent, friend, loved one, or an employer. Often their belief can wrap us in warmth, bolster us, and offer us a supportive hand to grab onto until we can regain our own support. Having that special person who believes in our abilities and our worth is a wonderful gift. But when we are feeling unworthy, it may be difficult to take in something so precious. We may even feel like we need to do it all on our own and that we shouldn’t be asking for help. However, in letting their belief and support impact you, you are acknowledging the part of yourself that knows you are worthy of trust and esteem. By allowing them to believe in you, your own belief in yourself and your abilities will start to emerge again. Borrow their vision, and you can make it your own.
If your special someone is not there to spur you on, you also can lift yourself up with the gift of a positive image. When you feel uncertain, you can create a vision of the future you desire that will serve as a beacon of light. To do so, simply imagine a future that is exactly as you’d like it to be. Imagine in detail how you feel, what you are doing, and how others are responding to you. Make your vision as real as possible, and allow your doubts to recede so you can focus solely on the goal you seek. The more intently you focus on the image of what you want, your belief in yourself will step to the forefront, making it easier for the universe to open up a path and guide you.
How do Cats Communicate?
by Andrew McGregor
Cats, tigers, panthers, leopards, lions and cheetahs all communicate
in similar ways. When you own a cat it is very important to understand
how it communicates. By reading this short article you will learn the
basics of cat communication. You will learn how to tell what mood your
cat is in and if anything, what it wants. Your cat will communicate
differently with you than other cats and animals. They use a range of
different ways to communicate including noises, body language etc. If
you spend some time observing your cat, sometimes it can be easy to
understand what type of mood they are in and other times it can be
impossible. This section will give you the right information to
understand your cat’s communication.
Noises and sounds
Cats can make a great number of noises and sounds; some scientists
think they can produce up to 81 different sounds and pitches. All of
these have different meanings. The amount of noise your cat makes
depends on its personality; some cats don’t make any noise. The most
common out of all the sounds that cats make is ‘meow’; it can mean
that your cat is hungry, curious, angry, happy or welcoming you home.
The second most common sound is purring, scientists don’t know much
about it, most of the time it is a sign of happiness and content but
on rare occasions it can mean your cat has a serious illness. Other
sounds such as growling and hissing mean that your cat is angry, upset
Cats use a variety of body language, some examples are the movement of
its tail, the position of its ears and even how it is standing. The
most obvious body language your cat uses is the movement of its tail.
In general, the higher your cat’s tail, the happier it is. When your
cat is in an extremely happy mood it will point its tail directly up
and when it is scared and afraid it will tuck it between its legs.
When your cat is angry or annoyed it will throw its tail from side to
side. Short quick movement’s and twitching indicates restlessness and
In conclusion, when a cat is happy or excited it raises its tail to a
vertical angle and rubs against you and may possibly lick you when you
put your hand out, an example of this is when you are about to feed
it. On the other hand when your cat is angry it puffs up its hair, its
eyes become big, it growls, flattens its ears and spits. When a cat is
happy and content, it lies on its stomach with its paws tucked under
its body. When your cat wants to play it lies on its side with its
paws and feed outstretched.
Energy Of A Home
By Madisyn Taylor
Everything and everybody that enters your home creates an energy and leaves a footprint.
Our homes are filled with energy that we create and allow to flourish. In many cases, our relationship with the pulse of our homes is passive rather than active because we do not pay particular heed to the energy that has been established. It is only when we regard these spaces as unique entities that we begin to understand why it is necessary to take charge of the energy that fills our homes. Stagnant, inharmonious energy can find its way into our dwellings through many avenues. Previous occupants, builders, visitors, and the individuals who maintain a home leave a strong energy imprint behind. Objects and symbols can also have an effect on the energy of a residence. When we are aware of all that can influence the energy of our spaces, we are empowered to create harmonious homes that do more than meet our need for shelter.
Exercising care with regard to who and what we invite into our homes is one of the easiest ways we can ensure that the energy within remains loving and supportive. It is not always possible to keep potentially harmful people and possessions from entering our homes, but we can take precautions. Individuals can be kept from private spaces like bedrooms and meditation areas, while property can be purified through cleansing or smudging. During periods of remodeling or construction, Reiki symbols and other positive imagery can be printed on surfaces that will later be covered by walls or flooring. Though hidden, these will continue to attract good energy and cleanse the existent energy. Blessings can also be drawn in plain sight, where they remind us of how potently our home’s energy can affect our own.
A home can appear beautiful, comfortable, and stable while still serving as a dwelling place for negative or otherwise offensive energy. If you care for your home conscientiously and with great care, you will instinctively look beyond the surface qualities of your home when assessing how it feels. Since you actively guard your home against the intrusion of unwelcome energy, you will have the time and vigor necessary to cope with it constructively when should it appear in your midst. The spirit of your spaces will respond to your thoughtful ministrations, nurturing and supporting you for as long as you choose to reside within her walls.
Michaelmas: The Day the Devil Spit on Your Blackberries
By Mary Beth Albright
It’s time to eat as many blackberries as you can find and stuff in a pie. After September 29, those celebrating the feast of Michaelmas warn you not to eat them.
On the list of forgotten holidays, Michaelmas falls somewhere below Arbor Day and the winter solstice. But just as American Popemania is rousing hoardes of non-Catholics, Michaelmas affects the secular world. A religious holiday celebrated by some Christian churches, it is a centuries-old event with a peculiar food history.
In medieval England, farmers used Michaelmas as a way to delineate the changing of the seasons—made sense, as it fell around the change of seasons. Michaelmas was a time to finish the reaping and start preparing for winter.
But the rule against eating blackberries after September 29 comes not from seasonality but from the story of the Archangel Michael, for whom the day is named. Michael, the greatest of all angels, defeated the angel Lucifer in a huge battle and banished him from heaven, the lore goes. At that point Lucifer became the devil. When Lucifer bounced onto the floor of hell, he landed in a thorny blackberry bush. (Naturally when you land in hell, you land end-first in a bunch of thorns.) This made him so mad that he spit on the bush and cursed its fruit.
So it is ill advised to eat blackberries after Michaelmas, a date better known in the United States as National Poisoned Blackberry Day. No word on why it’s OK to eat the fruit the rest of the year, after Satan stamped, spit, breathed fire, and possibly urinated on it. I’ll stick with fall fruits.
Look For The Hunter’s Blue Moon On Halloween Night!
By Bob Berman
The Hunter’s Blue Moon will occur on October 31, 2020—Halloween night! What is a Blue Moon, exactly? To prepare you for the Blue Moon on Halloween night this year, we’ve got all the details.
A Hunter’S Blue Moon On Halloween Night
In October 2020, we’re in for a special lunar event: a Blue Moon on October 31—Halloween night!
But that’s not the only thing that makes this October special. The month will contain both the Harvest Moon and the Hunter’s Moon, which are unique as far as full Moon names go.
October’s Two Full Moons
Why these names are unique has to do with the fact that the Harvest Moon and the Hunter’s Moon are the only two full Moon names associated with an astronomical event rather than a particular calendar month, which means that the names aren’t tied to a specific month’s full Moon.
Instead, the Harvest Moon is defined as the full Moon that happens nearest to the Autumnal Equinox (September 22, 2020), while the Hunter’s Moon is the full Moon that directly follows the Harvest Moon.
Typically, this means that the Harvest Moon occurs in September, followed by the Hunter’s Moon in October. This year, however, October will contain two full Moons—on the 1st and 31st—which means that both the Harvest Moon AND the Hunter’s Moon will occur in October, and that the Hunter’s Moon will also be a Blue Moon!
So what happens to September’s full Moon name if it’s not called the Harvest Moon? It takes on one of its alternate names: the Full Corn Moon.
When to See the Blue Moon
Venture outdoors on the night of October 31, 2020, to catch a glimpse of a bewitching full Moon—the Hunter’s Blue Moon! This full Moon will reach peak illumination at 10:51 A.M. EDT on Halloween morning, but will appear full that night, too.
What Is A Blue Moon?
Need a refresher on what a Blue Moon actually is? We get a lot of questions about the term, including:
Is “Blue Moon” a scientific term used in astronomy?
Did this term originate with Native American folklore, like a number of the other full Moon names?
Does a Blue Moon really look blue?
In truth, the answer to all of these questions is “no.”
The modern understanding of “Blue Moon” only took off in the 1980s. It was a result of a much earlier mistake printed in a 1946 issue of Sky & Telescope magazine, and since then, the term has gone viral in the media.
Two Types of Blue Moons
There are two definitions of the term that are commonly used today:
Seasonal Blue Moon: The extra full Moon that occurs within an astronomical season. One season—defined by the dates of the solstices and equinoxes—typically has three full moons occur within it. If a season instead has four full moons, then the third full moon (not the fourth) in the season may be called a Blue Moon.
Calendrical Blue Moon: The second full moon to occur in a calendar month. It takes our Moon about 29.5 days to complete one cycle of phases (from new Moon to new Moon), so if a full Moon occurs on the first of a month, there will be a second full Moon—a Blue Moon—at the end of the month, too (except in February).
Although the latter definition is the one more commonly followed today, the former actually came first. As mentioned above, a misinterpretation of the seasonal definition in the 1940s gave way to the calendrical definition, which was later popularized in the 80s and has stuck around to today.
When Is The Next Blue Moon?
As of this writing, the next Blue Moon according to either definition will occur on October 31, 2020, as described in detail above.
After that, we won’t actually have to wait too long for another Blue Moon:
The next seasonal Blue Moon will occur on August 22, 2021, as the third full Moon in a series of four within that season.
The next calendrical Blue Moon will happen on August 30, 2023, as the second full Moon in that month.
How Often Does A Blue Moon Occur?
Most months have one full Moon, not two.
Since the Moon’s period of phases is 29 ½ days, while months usually have 30 or 31 days, it’s obvious that if a full Moon lands on the first day of any month except February, it will repeat again at the end.
Turns out, calendrical Blue Moons happen every 30 months on average. Two and a half years. Seasonal Blue Moons happen at a similar rate: about once every two to three years. So maybe “once in a Blue Moon” isn’t so rare after all!
Two Blue Moons in a Single Year
But how often do we have two Blue Moons in a single year? (As in 2018, when there were Blue Moons in both January and March, and no full Moon in February.)
This won’t happen again until 2037, when we’ll again have another Blue Moon in both January and March.
Planting by the Moon’s Phases
According to this age-old practice, cycles of the Moon affect plant growth.
Call us old-fashioned, but all of these newfangled ways of figuring out when to plant your corn or your kale or your cucumbers seem to be making old wisdom sound like a new thing. We love a good app as much as the next person, but planting by the phases of the Moon isn’t anything new. Gardeners and farmers have been doing it for ages. Best of all, it’s a fairly simple process.
Plant your annual flowers and vegetables that bear crops above ground during the light, or waxing of the Moon … from the day the Moon is new to the day it is full.
Plant flowering bulbs, biennial and perennial flowers, and vegetables that bear crops below ground during the dark, or waning, of the Moon … from the day after it is full to the day before it is new again.
For more specific dates, there is a Planting Table in the 2021 Old Farmer’s Almanac that gives you the best planting days based on the Moon’s phases and your location. Going back to the kale, for instance, if you live in Area 1 (the southern U.S.), you can plant kale between February 11 and March 20.
If you live in Area 3 (southern Canada and most of the northern U.S. except for the western half of Washington and Oregon), you can plant kale from May 15–31, but your most favorable days are from May 15-26.
How to Clean Your Home with Reiki!
by Kristina Smith
One of the things that I love the most about Reiki is its adaptability. Reiki is a healing modality which can be used in multiple situations, and in multiple ways. It seems as if there is an endless number of ways that I can integrate Reiki into my daily life. I heal myself, my partner, and my children with Reiki. I heal our animal companions with Reiki. I have used Reiki to heal the Earth, the past, current situations, and I have even sent Reiki into the future to help myself and others in situations that have yet to occur. I have used Reiki to heal people all over the world, as I am sure most practitioners have as well. However, one of my favorite ways to use Reiki is to clean my home with it. Yes, you read that correctly…I clean my home with Reiki! Let me explain how.
Years ago, in an effort to reduce the amount of chemicals that I expose myself, my family, and my animal companions to, I started making my own household cleaners. It is incredibly inexpensive and easy to do. Baking soda (also called Sodium Bicarbonate) and white vinegar will clean just about everything in your home. I used these two ingredients for months before I began learning about the cleansing and purifying abilities of essential oils. Tea Tree, Lemon, Clove, and Orange essential oils are all very useful and widely used in commercial cleaning products, so I began adding a few drops into my homemade cleaners. The wonderful aroma from these oils is an added bonus to their powerful cleaning abilities.
As I began learning about Reiki, I wanted to use it as much as possible to acclimate myself to the energies I had been attuned to. I began sending Reiki to my cleaning sprays. Now, when I make my cleaners, I also infuse each ingredient I use with Reiki, as well as sending Reiki to the completed product.
I will share with you today a recipe that I created for an all around cleaner. Feel free to adapt this to suit your own purposes, based on your own intuition and knowledge of essential oils. Vinegar and water alone, in a 50/50 ratio, is a wonderful cleaning solution on its own.
Reiki Infused All Purpose Cleaner
” 16 oz. spray bottle (Glass is preferred, as essential oils may damage plastic bottles. However, I personally have used plastic spray bottles with no problems.)
” White Vinegar
” Water (Filtered is preferred, but tap water may be used)
” Essential oils of choice (Lemon, Orange, Pine, Clove, Tea Tree, and Peppermint are all great choices)
” Pinch of Sea Salt (optional)
” Clear Quartz crystal chips (optional)
Infuse the white vinegar with Reiki. You may use any symbols you like. I use the CKR and DKM. Add vinegar to bottle until half full. Infuse Reiki into the water, using any symbols you like. (Again, I use CKR and DKM). Add the water until the bottle is almost full, leaving space to shake the bottle before each use. If you wish to stop here, you may. However, if you would like to add essential oils, infuse them with Reiki as well. (I infuse all of my essential oils separately as I receive them, again from time to time as I am intuitively guided, and once more before using them in aromatherapy or cleaning products.) If you would like to add sea salt (which purifies negativity) or clear quartz crystals (which dispels negativity and amplifies the energy around it) infuse these with Reiki as well. Add the remaining ingredients and close the spray bottle. Infuse the entire solution and shake to combine. I also send more Reiki into the cleaning solution and shake well before each use. This is a POWERFUL cleaner which will clean your home physically and metaphysically. It can be used on countertops, appliances, floors (do not use on hardwood floors or surfaces), sinks, glass, and windows.
If you do not wish to make your own household cleaners, be assured that you can infuse any commercially purchased cleaner with Reiki!
The healing, restorative, and purifying powers of Reiki will now flow into your home every time you clean. You may even find that you enjoy cleaning your house more. May your home be filled with love and light.

Gilberto yawned and grinned at Maria. “I think the party went well.”
She smiled. “Ramon’s daughters are adorable.” She sighed. “I fear Joey ate most of the shrimp.” She snuggled against him, gently kissed him. “Let’s get into bed.”
He grinned back and shrugged out of his tux jacket. The envelope from Atlas fell on the floor.
“That’s from your work,” Maria said. “Better pick it up and see what is says.” She started undressing.
“Jack gave it to me at the party. Probably inventory projections. We get them every month, still…” He opened it, and took out the piece of paper.
What unfolded was indeed a letter. It was on Atlas executive stationary, welcoming him to Senior Management, affirming his promotion to Vice President together with the mention of a salary increase and options.
Tears filled his eyes. “I’m a vice president!” He cried aloud. His body shook. “The biggest dream of my life has come true.” He took hold of Maria’s hands and gazed into her eyes. “This is my dream come true! It wasn’t easy when I left soccer. After my rehab from the hip operation I still had responsibilities. I knew I had to find a real job fast.”
She moved into his arms and held him. “And you did. But what does being promoted to vice president really mean to you?”
He breathed faster gulping on his words. “Way more money. We can do things; go anywhere we want.”
They hugged each other. Then he said. “Being a VP makes me feel like I’ve made it.”
She kissed him. You didn’t feel that way before. Like you were in charge–after all, you were.?””
“Not like now. Being a VP seals the deal.”
“I’m glad you can feel your power.” Her voice softened to barely above a whisper. “In which case may I be the first to reward the newly minted vice president?” Then she giggled, and tried pulling him toward the bed. “Let’s celebrate.”
He didn’t respond to her. His mind drifted, thinking of how long he had had this dream.
“Gilberto,” she said, her fingers toying with his buttons, I want to congratulate you in my way. I am the wild woman of your dreams. And I won’t take no for an answer.” She moved closer, still hopeful of seducing him away from his current captivity with his thoughts.
But he sighed happily, still envisioning his future. Maybe he’d buy a boat, maybe he’d invest in real estate, he was a regent in the court of conspicuous consumption.
Maria shook her head. “Come back to me, Gilberto.”
He laughed. “I’ll be in the papers again. This time on the business page. Big announcement that I’m a VP. Believe me with promotions like this Atlas does it up right. I wonder should I have publicity pictures taken?”
She sighed. “Ok, handsome if you’re too far gone to be with me the way I’d like to celebrate, I’ll just go to sleep.” Reluctantly she started away from him and began to take down the bedspread.
Seeing her do that brought him to his senses. “No!” He reached for her. “Just excited. Always been dreaming of this. A dream I never thought would come true.”
She kissed him, held him. Then no more words. They lost themselves in each other. It was way past three before they finally fell asleep.
The phone rang at ten thirty. Karibe’s booming voice: “How are the lovebirds this morning?”
“Hi,” Gilberto laughed, not quite awake. “You had fun?”
“Oh, did we ever,” the giant roared with laughter and approval “Guess what Gilberto, I’m going to book Lola and me a cruise down the Nile the way Cleopatra did.”
“Nice,” Gilberto said.
“Just calling to get you and Maria, Ramon and Rosa for dinner with us Monday at the hotel before we ship out.”
“Sure,” Gilberto wondered how Lola would like being seated on a wooden barge floating up the Nile followed by snapping crocodiles. He grinned. “Okay, see you Monday night.
Maria came into the bedroom. Joey’s fed and taking Oscar for his walk. And what does my newly minted vice president have in mind this morning?”
He stretched. “I guess I’m up and maybe now, breakfast?”
She sighed and frowned “Ok Gilberto,” she said slowly, “if it’s breakfast you want your girlfriend will get dressed and fry you some eggs.”
“That sounds a little grumpy
“I’m not grumpy,” she said softly. “Sooner or later these visions of corporate sugar plums will stop dancing in your head, then I’ll be here waiting.”
He laughed and reached out for her, but she jumped away. “Oh, no sir, I must wait until all your gaseous corporate yearning pass and it’s just us.”
He nodded. “OK. I hear you.” He smiled fondly. “Now what did you tell your father when he pushed about us getting married? I overheard some of what was said.”
“I told him we would. I just didn’t say when.”
`”You really mean that?” Momentarily he felt hopeful.
“I always mean what I say?” She smiled and stretched like a Siamese cat. “And someday no doubt we will. Right now, we’re still young and living our romance.”
“You’re teasing me, stringing me along. OK someday when?”
She sighed wishing he’d just leave well enough alone.
“Maybe someday when Joey gets married, we’ll have a nice double wedding.”
Despite how hearing that made him feel, he laughed. “You know Maria in your own quiet way you can be very, very bossy.”
She raised her eyebrows, grinned. “And considering I’m the offspring of Alicia and Edwardo how could I ever be otherwise?”
Weekly Horoscope: Sunday, September 13, 2020
by Georgia Nicols
These are difficult times. Saturn, Pluto and Jupiter are in Capricorn – the sign representing structures, the government and the law courts. Next year, two of these planets will leave Capricorn and move into rebellious and innovative Aquarius. Not until 2023, will Pluto make a brief two-month appearance in Aquarius; then finally enter Aquarius for good in 2024 to stay until 2044. (Twenty years! That’s a stretch.) Aquarius is ruled by Uranus, which was discovered in 1781when they were toppling the heads of the European ruling class, before the French revolution in 1789. Scary stuff. (Of course, that was before anyone could buy a decent neck brace.) Bottom line? Rebellious change awaits us all. Oh yeah, that bell? “It tolls for thee.”
Aries (March 21-April 19)
This is a productive week. Admittedly, because your ruler Mars is in your sign and it is retrograde, you might feel that you are wading through sand at times. But motivation is everything and you are motivated! You want to be efficient and productive! Furthermore, you are taking pleasure now at making long-range plans that will change or revolutionize or improve your situation. When I say situation, this includes your health. The big thing to keep in mind right now is to guard against self-doubt. Don’t take the bait. If that little voice on your shoulder is questioning your self-worth – flick that character off immediately. “Be gone! And never darken my towels again!” (Thanks Groucho.)
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
So here’s the thing. Fiery Mars is actually hiding in your chart right now. By hiding, I mean it might subtly affect your subconscious. Meanwhile, Mars is actually retrograde, which further complicates things. The bottom line is your self-confidence is being tested. It’s easy for you to doubt yourself and doubt your abilities and doubt how lovable you are. (“I’m navel lint.”) Resist these little, fleeting thoughts that self-sabotage you! Instead, focus on making fun vacation plans for now or in the future. Focus on teaching kids or doing something that will solidify their future in a secure way. Enjoy redecorating where you live because this will please you. (Sorry — those psychedelic pillows have to go.)
Gemini (May 21-June 20)
Your focus continues to be on home, family and your private life. However, now you are making some serious plans. You want to solidify your home base and solidify your family dynamic so that it is reliable and supportive. You want the real deal. You don’t want to be cast off in some lifeboat. Therefore, line your ducks up in a row so that you can count on where you live. Fortunately, Venus will guarantee that you can smooth talk anyone this week. Stay clear of any kind of competition with a friend or a group because this will only backfire. Meanwhile, take time to relax with some mental, pleasure-loving games. Read a mystery. Try a few challenging puzzles.
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
Your fast-paced continues; however, this week you will do some serious thinking and planning for the future. You might do this with a partner or a close friend or you might do it alone. Your ambitious schemes are temporarily halted. Please note the word temporary because by mid-Nov., things will start to pick up and by Jan. they’ll be all systems go! That might not be as soon as you would hope – but at least, you know that the light at the end of the tunnel is not a train! Fortunately, you can attract money to you this week; and many of you will spend it on pretty things for yourself and loved ones. Yay!
Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)
You are still focused on money, cash flow and your assets; and you are concerned also with your personal sense of worth. Don’t worry you’ve got what it takes and you always will because despite your flash and dazzle, you are one of the strongest, most stoic signs in the zodiac. That’s why people rely on you. This is an excellent week to buy wardrobe treasures. (Get something because it will give you a boost.) It’s also a good week to teach, read, speak and influence others because you’re more chatty than usual and keen to learn. If you feel nervous to travel or you want to stay closer to home –that’s just fine. Stock the fridge.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)
You are blessed because the Sun is in your sign! (This happens only once a year for four weeks, giving you a chance to rejuvenate yourself!) Plus, the Sun in your sign inexplicably draws people and favourable situations to you. Admittedly, something to do with shared property, banking and the wealth of others might be stalled in the water. Nevertheless, you are full of moneymaking ideas! You might even have a little something going on the side? (Hmmm, this could also mean you are indulging in a secret love. Naughty pleasures!) Whatever happens, Jupiter will bless you now. Your health is good and you have a strong sense of well-being. Jupiter also will protect your finances. Relax.
Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)
Things are unsettled this week. The Sun is “hiding” in your chart, which is tricky. You have that feeling you’re waiting for something but you’re not sure what. “I’m all dressed up with nowhere to go!” Furthermore, retrograde Mars is opposite your sign, which could create confusion in partnerships and close friendships. Fortunately, this confusion is not aggressive. It’s closer to “How did I get here?” “Am I in this movie?” Don’t worry. Jupiter has you covered because things at home are solid and in fact, you are fortunate! You have a good home base. Accept that will be a bit “touch and go” until Jan. And you are not alone. Many people feel this way. Get comfortable.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)
This is still a popular time, which is a good thing because you need the support of your friends right now. This support might come through a group or a member of a group. Either way, your interactions with others will benefit you now, which is why it’s wise to be friendly and open with others. Certainly, people in power see you in a positive way. They admire you! Someone might offer you increased responsibilities or a promotion because they think so highly of you. Admittedly, you feel like you’re caught in slow mo at work. “I can’t make things happen!” Don’t get hung up on this. Go with what works, and focus on what is stalled in the water. Do what you can. Slowly, slowly.
Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)
“We love you!” Oh yes, you are in a flattering spotlight that makes everyone admire you (even if you don’t do anything special). This is excellent! Smile and receive all these compliments. If someone asks you to do something – do it. You’ll look great. If you can travel for pleasure (unlikely but possible) by all means, do it because you’re keen to expand your world right now either literally or at least, through ideas. Younger people are a source of pleasure right now. (Especially if they kiss the hem of your cape.) If you have the ability to inspire someone, take this seriously. It’s a special opportunity, and certainly, an opportunity not to be missed. Don’t get hung up on difficulties with kids because this will get sorted out by Jan. Count on it.
Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)
By nature, you are cautious. You like a sure thing. Who doesn’t like a predictable outcome? It’s the smart way to be. This is a good week to make long-range travel plans for the future, especially about publishing, the media, medicine, the law, and perhaps plans about further education or going back to school. It’s all good. Meanwhile, gifts and goodies from others will come your way. (Keep your pockets open.) Even your sex life is sweet and affectionate, and dare we say memorable? (We did.) The nebulous uncertainty of things at home or within the family will not be fully crystallized until Jan. Just accept this. Next year is a whole new deal! And a happier one!
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)
Interactions with others are delightful. Relations with close friends and partners are warm and supportive. Younger people want to learn from you. (You might travel somewhere with someone younger?) Your modern ideas excite people, and this pleases you. Take advantage of this time to secure loose ends regarding shared property, debt, taxes, inheritances and estates. Ultimately, this will give you security in the future and perhaps even increased wealth. However, on a day-to-day basis, you might start to question everything? It’s as if you have lost your centre? But you have not. It just feels that way. You’re fine.
Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)
You will need more sleep this week because the Sun is opposite your sign. Symbolically, this means the Sun (which is your source of energy) is as far away from you as it gets all year. If you are tired, situations will feel overwhelming! Fortunately, job-related matters look good. Coworkers and bosses admire you. You might even work to improve your work space or make it more attractive. (This is important.) Discussions about shared property, taxes, debt and inheritances will be productive. But your energy and enthusiasm to earn money are wobbly. This is just a temporary speedbump. Don’t worry. By Jan., you’ll be leader of the pack!
Weekly Horoscopes Beginning Sunday, 13 September 2020
If you`re born within cusp period (16 to 26 of any month); you`re advised to read horoscopes of both signs covered by that period. You`re in the border; you may have influences from houses within those signs.
Outlines are longer versions; consists of every possible detail of everyday and based on three parts of each sign: 1st, 2nd & 3rd Decan; that is, any of three divisions of 10° within a sign of the zodiac. Even if you know or don`t know your Decan; I recommend, please read all three Decan.
Personal theme: I am!!
Fire & cardinal sign: March 21 — April 19
Your horoscope for this week:
Ordinarily, you`d regard problems as setbacks, whether in existing arrangements or future plans. While during other periods that`s exactly what they`d be, with your ruler Mars in Aries but retrograde, or moving backwards, it`s about you pausing to analyse arrangements, including those you`ve regarded as unchanging. Once they were; but with your circumstances in transition, a review, if not massive rethink, would be timely.
Trust your instincts when it comes to anything connected with your world of work or other important responsibilities. Don`t hold back from making suggestions because other people seem to disagree with you. Your thoughts and ideas are valid. You may have to acquire new skills to move forward but this isn`t an impossibility. A loved one`s plans are making you uncertain. That`s because your mind is on your own concerns rather than on domestic and family matters.
It will be over a decade before Jupiter makes its next direct station in the career zone of your solar chart. You could view this as a booster moment when you make significant progress in your aims and objectives. True, Mars is now retrograde in your sign and yes, you may need to give way in a few areas. In the interests of achieving a long-term goal, that might not daunt you too much. Your ability to think creatively should also get you noticed. True, you will need to keep that combative streak reined in and yes, by Friday give a little away with grace. All that said, this week should bring a career vantage point which you can use to define a constructive business plan that you launch at the end of the month.
Personal theme: I have!!
Earth & fixed sign: April 20 — May 20
Your horoscope for this week:
Sometimes obstacles are no more than that. However, those you`re currently facing are forcing you to adopt a fresh perspective, about both what you`re currently doing and your priorities for the future. This is about thinking beyond what you currently have in mind. Initially, it may seem you`ve few options.. However, sudden ideas or offers will broaden your horizons, primarily in terms of future possibilities.
If your marriage or a romantic relationship seems to have lost its sparkle, why not be the one to take the initiative? Make an effort to add a dash of excitement into your partnership. If you can`t arrange a weekend away, which you probably can`t, there are plenty other ways to surprise the one you love. Find new ways to thrill your partner and romance will once again flourish. A friend or relative may repeat a request for a loan. If you still can`t afford it, don`t give in.
Don`t underestimate your ability to absorb information. Your expertise will doubtless be required and should get you noticed. Indeed, as of Tuesday you could surprise a few people by displaying a combination of enthusiasm and leadership and yes, perhaps audacity. This in turn might lead to you being invited to join a new team. Yes, you may have doubts about the way in which they present information and yes, initially your input might not find full favour. It should be obvious by Friday however that you are mastering the art of planting ideas that others then think are theirs. It`s not at all impossible that more than one person will soon see you as a quiet but steely voice of authority and be grateful to have you on their side.
Personal theme: I think!!
Air sign: May 21 — June 20
Your horoscope for this week:
When organising certain plans or promises recently, the path ahead seemed clear. While events over the coming week will slow progress and raise questions about even seemingly simple arrangements, they`re worth investigating. Be patient, because things probably won`t come together until you benefit from the insights that accompany Thursday`s New Moon. However, the more you learn, the clearer it will be they`re well worth waiting for.
If you want to impress someone, you should volunteer for the tasks and challenges you do well and are familiar with. It isn`t the time to experiment with anything new. New ideas that don`t work won`t reflect well on your overall performance. Energy levels quickly start to wane. Work and pastimes that keep you out of the limelight will suit you best. A change of pace would be just what the doctor ordered and a short break with routine will be relaxing and rejuvenating.
It should be all systems go after Jupiter stations on Sunday. Others, notably those born under Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn may be anxious to get matters under way. They might also be vaguely exasperated that things are not quite as well prepared as they might have been. All that said, significant progress could be made by Thursday. The art may be not to deflect those who have a very definite schedule to adhere to. In short, don`t ask too many questions and focus on the task in hand. Your enquires will be more valuable as of Friday. Indeed, at that point, you could negotiate better deals, come up with good copywriting and generally oil the wheels. Frustrating as it may be to work within a system, questioning it too much could delay progress.
Personal theme: I feel!!
Water & cardinal sign: June 21 — July 22
Your horoscope for this week:
If you reflect on the past few months, you`ll realise what seemed unsettling if not seriously worrying situations turned out to be breakthroughs, although often in completely unexpected ways. Keep this in mind, since with a similar planetary setup, you`re in for yet more unsettling but ultimately welcome changes. The trick? Consider this an adventure, one from which you`ll profit, but probably in unlikely ways.
Plans and projects, you thought were non-starters because others weren`t totally sold on them as the month began will get the green light soon. It will come as some relief to have people`s support even if you would have gone ahead without it. Mid-week will bring a chance to clear up any past misunderstandings with a friend or neighbour. The key to happy relationships lies in your willingness to be truthful and open in all your dealings.
Jupiter at last moves forward in your opposite sign. It will be over a decade before a similar station takes place. View this as a super-boost to all working partnerships. True, Mars is retrograde at the apex of your solar chart and career-wise (at least until the end of November) you could experience `stop- start`. That said, strong aspects suggest that the new schedule will get underway. It`s likely inevitable that this will bring with it challenges – possibly financial or it could be that there are ethical concerns. By Thursday however, progress is probable. The process might require you to move around office furniture or predesignate space. Another very strong possibility is involvement with a creative duo who appreciate your assistance to husband resources and ensure that quality and style is not compromised.
Personal theme: I will!!
Fire & fixed sign: July 23 — August 22
Your horoscope for this week:
You`ve been manoeuvring to get certain ideas from the planning stage into reality. However, your success has been limited. While, obviously, that`s been annoying, this week`s twists and turns reveal that what seemed unwelcome if not disastrous changes were actually doing you a favour. Now that you`re being forced to rethink those plans, you`re discovering better options or, perhaps, an entirely new approach to it all.
Someone close will reveal that they have arranged something that should bring greater financial security to your shared lives. By rights, they should have consulted you first, but at least try to show some appreciation. They weren`t being secretive. They just wanted to surprise you by taking the initiative. You should not hesitate to go it alone where issues outside the home are concerned. In fact, your independence may be the only way you will be satisfied with your efforts.
This could prove a week of high drama. Jupiter has now turned direct. In a few weeks` time it will arrive in your opposite sign. You could view this as `troops massing at your border`. It may be that these are armies ready to assist with your revised goals. It might be wise to observe the movements of those around you and to ensure that communications are kept in good order. If you`re not used to keeping a diary, this may be the moment to begin. Mars is now retrograde in another of the Fire signs and many people will surely be irritated that they haven`t made the progress they hoped for. More than one person may feel their banging their head against a brick wall. Another task that might fall to you is to `keep home fires burning` and to encourage even when all seems lost. In particular, someone who is most definitely breaking out of their usual comforts zone likely needs to have their confidence bolstered.
Personal theme: I analyse!!
Earth sign: August 23 — September 22
Your horoscope for this week:
By no means are you adverse to change. It`s just that with so much in transition, decision-making has been nearly impossible. For now, wait, watch and learn. True, the resulting insights won`t make sense immediately. However, with Thursday`s Virgo New Moon bringing exactly the fresh perspective you need, even complex matters will suddenly make sense. For now, focus on discussions with others and exploring your options.
A friend or colleague`s tendency to leap before they look is starting to annoy you. Not only will they land in a whole load of trouble but you and others too will suffer from their impetuous foolishness. If you`re in a regular job, a more lucrative position could become vacant. Don`t be surprised if you are given first refusal and don`t hesitate about taking someone up on their offer. This is your chance to improve your career and financial standing.
Jupiter turns direct in another of the Earth signs. It won`t reach this area of the zodiac again for over a decade. You could view this as a booster rocket being put in your creative tank. Yes, this will also likely have repercussions in personal relationships. Career-wise this promises a change of pace. True, Mars is retrograde and you may find the funding for capital projects difficult to access. Yet with support and most likely from those born under either Leo or Capricorn you could still make progress. True, you might also need to rethink working patterns or even actual working environment. A review of how you use working space is probable. Advertising or making clear your particular expertise will likely have your attention too. Don`t be surprised if this has the interesting side effect of alteration to your usual handwriting style.
Personal theme: I balance!!
Air & cardinal sign: September 23 — October 22
Your horoscope for this week:
You`re contending irritating, if not unsettling, last minute changes. Still, trust instincts that say arrangements are being delayed until something better comes along. The trick? It`s to experiment, and learn from what works or doesn`t. Also, despite urgent feelings, wait, watch and learn. While your image of what`s next may not come together until the mid-October`s Libra New Moon, it will be worth waiting for.
If you don`t manage it early on in the week, by Wednesday it should be possible to catch up on what you have been forced to bypass, postpone or neglect in recent weeks. An industrious mood will give you the edge on others if you are competing for the attention of anyone who can help you climb the ladder of success. A partner will make a strange decision but before you start questioning and criticising, think about it. Your happiness was very much a major consideration.
For the last time in more than a decade, Jupiter stations at the very base of your solar chart. If you haven`t already cleared space at home, the push to do so should get underway. True, Mars is now retrograde in your opposite sign and you may not have all the physical or even mental support you feel is necessary. Yet it may be important for you to close a chapter and prepare for the next. Note that by the end of the year that making space to pursue new interests and revive latent talents and yes, possibly hereditary ones will assume greater importance. This week may be about showing others that you are preparing to move on. That said, it is always important the Libra is to maintain relationship balance. So, it will be unsettling if you don`t feel you`re being given sufficient and real organisational support. You may need to state that this is a must have for your continued well-being.
Scorpio & Ophiuchus
Personal theme: I desire!!
Water & fixed signs: October 23 — November 21
Your horoscope for this week:
Theoretically, organising plans with individuals you`re looking forward to seeing shouldn`t be difficult; but everybody has developed their own way of doing things and, worse, has forgotten how to compromise or accommodate others` needs. This includes you. Facing this isn`t easy, and getting things organised may be a struggle. Still, it`s a small price to pay for restoring that familiar, and longed-for, togetherness.
Someone you live with is concerned about financing jobs about the house. In home related projects it won`t so much be how you can afford to buy in extra supplies for the job but how to use the little you have left to your best advantage. You`re feeling on top of the world and your high spirits will be contagious. You might put this to good use by working to gain the support of a partner to bring about some much-needed changes.
Your ruling planet, Mars, is now retrograde and at one level it would be understandable if you were drawing back into yourself. It is perhaps only now that you understand exactly the reserves you have at your disposal. Jupiter however, – and for the last time in over a decade, – stations in Capricorn. Thirst for good, quality information is set to increase.. You may know the specific objective you want to achieve by December. Ensuring you have access to appropriate support systems might mean confronting those whose organisational abilities you have sometimes doubted. Yet it is possible that in recent times attitudes have altered. You may find you`ve come to the attention of those who sense your considerable talents and abilities and who even now are working out ways to offer assistance – even whilst themselves challenged to find new operating pathways.
Personal theme: I see!!
Fire sign: November 22 — December 21
Your horoscope for this week:
Usually, you`ve a knack for putting even seriously uptight individuals at ease. Yet certain situations are so sensitive that you`re anxious about upsetting anybody. That`s wise. Difficult as it may be, adopt an uncharacteristically slow pace and cautious manner. What`s more, make a point of chatting with those you`re dealing with. Do that, and not only will things go smoothly, you`ll be amazed what you learn.
Joint matters look set to be resolved with the minimum of effort. In addition to this, agreements and arrangements made are likely to bring maximum satisfaction. Financial and material rewards will come through a partnership. Remember the need for balance and this means you should balance work and other responsibilities with relaxation and pleasure.. A medical consultation will be helpful if you`re having a few aches and pains. Follow the advice of a professional.
For the last time in over a decade your ruling planet, Jupiter, reaches its direct station in neighbouring Capricorn. Until the end of the year, the need to stabilise your finances and resources will surely be great. Much of this could be brought to your attention by experts (or close partners) who have concerns about your savings and liabilities. A safety net might be suggested. Note that Mars is now retrograde in the research and development area of your solar chart. It may be that there are items or ideas that can now be released to secure your position within a team. Involvement with education or the passing on of knowledge seems highly likely. As is likely to be the case for most signs, alteration to working practices seems more likely than not. This presumably now needs to take into greater consideration your health and welfare.
Personal theme: I use!!
Earth & cardinal sign: December 22 — January 19
Your horoscope for this week:
Ordinarily, obstacles are no more than something to be overcome. However, those you`ve faced recently and will this week be actually introducing you to ideas, offers or opportunities that, otherwise, you wouldn`t have spotted or decided to ignore. True, you must still take that first step; but once you`re involved, you`ll be so thrilled that you`ll wonder why you hesitated for even a moment.
Avoid making hasty financial decisions just to get someone off your back. If a salesperson is trying to push you into signing a contract, refuse. There is misrepresentation and deceit in the air so be cautious. Your social life is almost non-existent these days and in a work project just when you think everything is starting to go your way, someone will drop a spanner in the works. Be patient and keep your nose to the grindstone.
It will be another decade before Jupiter reaches direct station in your sign again. This then is an important time. You likely won`t be the only person negotiating new working practices. At least two important meetings will likely require your presence. It`s probable that others now see you – if not as the answer to all their difficulties, at least as someone they need to have on their team. Your profile could be significantly enhanced. It is interesting that you might also have contact with a group you worked with once in the past and who perhaps regret that they no longer have easy access to your expertise. That time may yet come again so it may be good to keep lines of communication open.
Personal theme: I know!!
Air & fixed sign: January 20 — February 18
Your horoscope for this week:
Initially, you may regard sudden events as disruptive, and nothing more; but once you begin asking a few questions, you`ll recognise them as breakthroughs, some so thrilling that you`ll waste no time on debate but will, instead, plunge in and let experience be your guide. That`s the best way to approach these, especially because seemingly uncertain changes will be as thrilling as they are unexpected.
You might suddenly remember you haven`t been in touch with someone after you promised you would contact them. You have also forgotten about a favour you had promised to do for a friend. It`s not too late to make amends. Minor financial problems within the family will interfere with your hopes to put some money aside for a future holiday when things get back to normal. Think about selling your handiwork to make a little extra cash.
This Sunday, Jupiter reaches its last direct station in neighbouring Capricorn for over a decade. You will likely find that colleagues don`t mask their need to push things forward. Yet Mars is retrograde and will be for some weeks. You might correctly deduce that real progress will come later. Working on the basis of first things first, it may be important for foundations to be made secure. Revised objectives need to be discussed. It is also likely that you`ll be involved in a major archiving project. Whilst this might not be something that is particularly appealing, it is perhaps a necessary steppingstone. Included within this, could be review of your qualifications and determining where you are lacking. As of next weekend making improvements here should be top priority.
Personal theme: I believe!!
Water sign: February 19 — March 20
Your horoscope for this week:
Once you recognise that, no matter what happens, certain grumpy individuals will complain about otherwise welcome events, you`ll stop worrying about upsetting others and enjoy this rare period of exciting if unsettling twists and turns. With so much of the world around you having changed, your own plans need a rethink. However, it seems destiny has done it on your behalf. You need only say `yes`.
Emotions are up and down. Your health is governed by your emotions. Activities you choose to get involved in will be largely dictated by your mood of the moment. If you`re feeling low, it makes sense to relax and revive your energy. Relationship differences seem to be the bane of your life. The more someone presses you to get on with a boring household chore, the more you will dig in your heels and refuse to comply.
One of your ruling planets, Jupiter, reaches its last direct station in Capricorn for over a decade. Clearly this will affect all signs with some tuning into this more than others. Having possibly languished in recent months, you might now be in the mood to move forward. It`s likely that your particular talents and expertise are much needed. True, with Mars retrograde, others might not yet have the wherewithal to reward you as would be appropriate. Nevertheless, it could be that useful contacts are made. Particularly significant may be catching up with those you`ve worked with in the past. It may be that your understanding of a system and its history is invaluable. Though by the end of the year new approaches might be necessary, for now, you could bring the magic touch and save the day.
