Llewellyn’s Spell A Day

Return to Joy and Innocence

When life gets too serious and stressful, it’s a good idea to reminisce about your youthful, carefree days. If you need help remembering your innocent, childlike spirit, white clover flowers can help you with that.

Go to a grassy field where white clover is in bloom. Find a place to sit near the flowers at the base of a tree. Close your eyes, take a deep cleansing breath, and inhale the scent of the lovely clover flowers.

Once you have become more grounded with the earth, collect clover flowers to make a crown. Place the clovers in a circle on a flat surface. Lay each clover flower near the end of the stem of the flower next to it. Tie the end of the stem underneath the clover flower to form a simple crown Place the crown on your head while saying these words:

Help me remember when I was

young, when life was simple

with laughter and fun.

Infuse my spirit with my innocent

ways. Help me recapture

the joy of those days.

Dirt Spell

Dirt is cooling to the spirit. You can slip and slide and make mud pies from it.

You can place it in a bowl and set it on your altar. You can gather some from a graveyard to use when you falter.

You can plant a flower in it, or bury things you love in it, so they’ll always be with you when you gaze upon them from above.

For this spell, gather some dirt. You can take some from your plants, your back yard, or even a bag of potting soil. Place the dirt in a bowl. Say:

Mother Earth, you know best.

I honor you with this earth and

have faith you’ll do the rest.

I remain humble, in awe of you,

For blessed Mother Earth, you

always know what to do.

To Shield the Heart

Both the sun and Venus are now in Cancer, making this the perfect time for love and emotional healing magic. It’s also a good time to do cleansing work related to emotions and current and past negative relationships and to do shielding work related to our emotional body. Not only are many people feeling a bit raw at this time, but they are leaning on close friends and family for support. Cast this spell to shield your emotional body so you can remain strong at this time.

Hold a piece of black tourmaline, rose quartz, or rhodonite under running water and say:

I have enough to deal with on my own.

I do not have time for

seeds I’ve not sown.

Keep the drama away from me,

And keep my heart light and free.

Keep the stone with you at all times and renew once a week as needed.

Marriage Mojo Oil

There are so many moments when life slows down just enough to let us be fat and happy for a day. Together with your partner or best friend, take a moment over a pot of tea to write down some of your best memories together. Write these on bay leaves using edible ink pens.

When you’re done, place the leaves in a jar with a cork cap and fill with olive oil. As you perform this project together, dedicate the bottle of oil to shared meals, healing body rubs, and moments of shared nourishment. Choosing an antique or special olive oil bottle with symbols of the moon, Venus, or goddess imagery will help to add a sense of prophecy and energy to your mojo oil. Visualize growing togetherness as you anoint romantic candles and love charms with this oil.

Thawing Incantation

When the winter winds arrived, we drew our necks down, bundled up, and became guarded against the cold. As the winter weather begins to show signs of easing up, let’s do a thawing spell to release and awaken the frozen parts of ourselves. This spell is best done indoors.

Standing in a safe and private space, gaze down at your feet. Say:

I thaw what holds me stuck in place.

Place your hands on your belly. Say:

I thaw the anger I have held so tight.

Place your hands over your heart. Say:

I thaw my passionate, tender feelings.

Press your hands together in front of

you, perhaps rubbing them lightly. Say:

I thaw my creativity and skill.

Holding one hand to your throat and one to your heart, say:

It is safe to thaw out, to speak out,

to feel fully, and be real. I thaw myself

and stand here, fully present.

Ritual Chalk

If you’re like me, symbols and sigils play a large role in your practice. This all-purpose homemade chalk can be imbued with energy to enhance your magickal workings, then used to draw symbols on your tools, walls, or floors, or outdoors during spells. It can also be tweaked according to intent by changing up the herbs. The herbs suggested here create a protective chalk.

Gather these materials:

* Silicone molds like those used for baking (any shape is fine) or an ice cube tray

* Wax paper

* A small mixing bowl

* 1 cup plaster of Paris

* ½ cup warm water

* 1 teaspoon powdered rosemary, frankincense, or mayapple (a nonpoisonous substitute for mandrake root)

Line the molds (or the tray) with wax paper.

In the bowl, mix together the plaster of Paris, warm water, and herbs. As you stir the mixture clockwise, visualize purple and white light being mixed in with it. These are the colors of spiritual energy and magickal power.

Pour the mixture into the molds and let sit for 24 hours. When they’re dry, release them from the molds and get creative!

Heartwings Love Notes 988: Beware the ‘Free’ Offer

The phone rang. Stephen picked it up, expecting another of the spam calls we had been getting all morning. Instead, the voice on the phone said, “this is Orthopedic Services and we have been authorized by Medicare to offer you a free back brace.” Sounds good, right? Free back brace? The male voice, with a foreign accent, went on to ask relevant questions. Caught by surprise, Stephen stayed on the telephone, answering questions about his height, weight, waist circumference and other information. Medicare, he was told, would pay.

I was preparing lunch and listening with half an ear. The person on the phone sounded legitimate. When he asked Stephen for the name of our doctor, I began to wonder. Why didn’t the person already have that? Stephen said he thought I might be able to use a brace so he gave me the phone. I did. I had my doubts, however the thought of some help for back support sounded tempting.

Long story short, as they say, we began to realize it really was a scam and not a legitimate offer. Stephen told him how we both felt and said we wanted to cancel the whole thing. He retorted, saying there was a $2,000 cancellation fee. Stephen spoke a few well-chosen words and hung up. We called our Primary and she confirmed that she had ordered no such thing. She also recommended we refuse to accept any package arriving in the mail from an unknown sender.

We consider ourselves to be pretty scam-proof; even so, we were taken in. While it was a blow to our pride, it was also a wake-up call. The scammers out there are getting cleverer by the day. The first thing to be learned here might be beware of the word FREE. That is an easy hook for anyone to dangle. It’s only human to want something for nothing. Who wouldn’t? And most of the time what you get for nothing is exactly that.

Something else to be learned is to question the source. When someone says they are from Medicare, it might sound legitimate, and it could even be legitimate, or it could be just another hook baited to catch the unwary. Many are out there, trolling with delicious appearing bait. We put in a call to the police station to report it and then called Medicare. The person we spoke to was glad to hear and said he hadn’t encountered the cancellation fee charge before.I intend to try to publicize this scam. There are consumer advocates connected with TV stations and I’m going to send them this information. An unwary person could get sadly hurt either financially, emotionally or both. Scammers prey on people who are innocently taken in by “free,” Medicare, and other fine-sounding words and promises that will come to nothing. It is said Caveat Emptor—let the buyer beware. There needs to be a codicil: beware the word free, one seldom gets something for nothing.

May you never fall for any schemes that do you harm.

Blessings and Best Regards, Tasha Halpert

Hopefully, you haven’t had any such experiences, dear readers, yet if you have would you share with me? I’d love to sympathize. Write me at tashahal@aol.comand, and do visit my web pages at for other love notes to read.

Strong Woman

What makes a woman confident is her ability to call upon her feminine wisdom.

So often in our world, we tend to think of strength as a quality that arises from a place of firm determination and a will to succeed no matter the cost. Even though we might want to think of a strong woman as being defined in this way, what really makes a woman confident is her capacity for listening to her true self and being able to call upon her feminine wisdom to any situation that may arise. A woman does not need to step into an assertive role or act like a man in order to be effective at what she does — she simply needs to get in touch with her insight and sense of compassion to truly demonstrate the depth of her strength.

Listening to the feminine side of ourselves may not seem easy at first for this type of energy is something that is often overlooked in many aspects of our everyday lives. If we can connect with this part of who we are, however, we will find that there is an unlimited wellspring of strength available to us. Our capacity to tap into our intuition and listen to our inner guides, to take into account the needs of those around us, and to view a situation with compassion and love are ways that we can show the world the true power that is part of our feminine nature. When we learn to integrate this source of strength into our daily tasks and decision-making, we will find that we can be more flexible and open to the things that happen around us and more receptive to new ideas. Not only will we see the world in a different light, but we will truly start to realize the potential for this form of energy to both empower ourselves and those around us.

As we cultivate our feminine energy we can redefine the meaning of strength. By embracing our feminine power as something that is strong in its own right, we are able to use it with true assurance and determination and draw upon what truly belongs to us.

The Myrtles Plantation: The History and How to Visit

St. Francisville, Louisiana

It’s hard to hear the words haunted plantation and not think of Myrtles. The sheer amount of eyewitness accounts of paranormal doings—as well as its numerous appearances on television shows—has made this spot a veritable pilgrimage for anyone interested in ghost hunting. But this location has so much more to offer than just a collection of spooky stories, starting with the history.

While the home has been built upon a few times over the centuries, the original portion of the house dates back to 1796. It was made for General “Whiskey Dave” Bradford who was on the lam for taking part in the famous Whiskey Rebellion. He would be pardoned for his part by President John Adams and he would live there until his death in 1808. The home would change hands a couple of times, but would end up the property of Ruffin Gray Stirling in 1834. He would add to the home’s size and change the name of the place from Laurel Grove to the Myrtles in reference to popular crepe myrtles that grew in the area.

During the Civil War, the plantation would hit some rather hard times that would extend to beyond the conflict. Besides the fact that the family had tied up their fortune in the Confederacy, the home was robbed once, and the Stirling family was struck with a couple of personal tragedies. The first happened when the daughter of William and Sarah Winter (Sarah was Stirling’s daughter), Kate, died of typhoid. Then, in 1871, William was shot and killed on the front porch of the house.

After the Stirling family sold the property in 1886, it would pass through the hands of quite a few people. It was in the 1950s that Marjorie Munson purchased the house and stories of ghosts began to circulate the area. Munson would go on record a number of times with her tales of apparitions and disembodied voices in the house. Things got even more interesting, though, when the plantation was purchased by James and Frances Myers in the 1970s and they transformed the property into a bed-and-breakfast.

The Myers family had heard the tales of ghosts that were told by Munson (the most famous being an entity seen wearing a green turban), so they were prepared for some spooky things to happen. Or so they thought. So many things occurred during their stay at the plantation that I couldn’t possibly list them all here. But you can read about it if you like, since Frances wrote a book called The Myrtles Plantation: The True Story of America’s Most Haunted House. Needless to say, they would sell the place to the current owners.

These days, Myrtles Plantation is well-known in the paranormal community. And it makes for quite the luxurious ghostly getaway, since it has a great on-site restaurant and bar in addition to the newly renovated rooms. I’d suggest taking the tour of the home if you want to learn more about the history and haunting there.

In addition to the famous story of Chloe, who haunts the property (just google her name with Myrtles and you can even see a photograph of her), you can hear about the male spirit whom some believe to be William Winter and the ghost who likes to mimic the voices of others in the house.

You Never Know Until You Try

It is often said that at the end of our lives, we are more likely to regret the things we did not do than the things we did.

When contemplating whether to do something or not, a plucky voice in our heads may say, “You never know until you try.” This is time-honored wisdom that encourages us to be game rather than to hold back. It reminds us that it is only through experience that we learn about this world and ourselves. Even if we regret the outcome, we have learned something, and the newfound knowledge is almost always worth it.

This wisdom can be applied to situations both large and small. From crossing the Atlantic on a boat to trying Ethiopian food, there’s only one way to find out what it’s like. We have all had experiences where we tried something we didn’t think we’d like and fell in love. We may have found ourselves stuck with nothing to read but a “boring” book, only to kick-start a lifelong passion for Victorian literature. We may have decided that sailing was not for us until we fell in love with someone with a boat. On the other hand, we may try tofu only to learn that it is truly not for us. In this case, we gain greater self-knowledge from the experience. And yet, we might still remain open to trying it prepared in a different way. The right marinade might make you a convert — you’ll never know if you don’t try it.

It is often said that at the end of our lives we are more likely to regret the things we did not do than the things we did. As an exercise to test your own willingness to discover through doing, try making a list of things you regret not having done. You may begin to notice patterns such as a failure to say what you really think at key moments or closed-mindedness to certain types of activities. Just being aware of the opportunities you missed might encourage you not to miss them again. There’s only one way to find out.

5 Signs You’ve got a Ghost at Home & 3 Worrying Signs

By The Alchemist

Is it possible that you have a Ghost at Home? Spirits can transcend time and space. But most usually, ghosts feel trapped at one place probably because of the affinity this place has with their former lives. You may or may not be related to the ghost. The place you now live was once the home of some other Soul. If this person is lost, his/her soul may wander around your home searching for closure.

Are Ghosts Evil?

This is a wrong question. However, Ghostly status is not a healthy one. It’s a troubling situation for both the ghost and for the ones who unwillingly live with it.

Ghosts are confused. Most usually they do not realize their current condition. Hence, they are waiting for a sign, something to ‘wake them up’ from oblivion.

Moreover, Ghosts lack energy. Hence, they try to absorb energy via causing emotions – which make them feel alive again. Emotions conjure astral energy. However, a ghostly lack of energy might drain the energy of the living. This is exactly why you should avoid living near a cemetery.

Classification of Spirits

So far we’ve seen signs that your house is haunted, in other words, believed the house is not yours but theirs. This is different. A ghost might or might not have aggressive intentions and is not ‘trapped’ in your home. On the other hand, it’s not like you are visited by a deceased loved one. In this case, ghosts are not familiar with your energy. Hence, the ‘signs’ could differ.

See more of Spirits in the SpiritBook

Ghosts will start to make themselves detectable ONLY if somehow they’ve acquired astral energy. If they’ve managed to do so, then several signs might occur as the following.

REMEMBER: Not all ghosts are good, not all are bad. Most ghosts are neutral. However, we’ve added a couple of Signs which should make you

5 Most Common Signs You’ve Got a Ghost at Home:

1. Sounds coming from Nowhere

It’s in the middle of the night when you hear some footsteps. You are sure you’ve heard them from upstairs. But wait. No one is upstairs…

Unexplained noises like footsteps, door knocks, sounds coming from items being dropped – although you can’t see them – may come from ghostly activity. A Ghost at home may cause all these noises for many reasons.

2. Doors and Windows Open automatically

It’s what follows the door knocks. You get back from your home and you see the window of the attic open. However, you are pretty sure you closed it prior to exiting the house.

This is probably a purely symbolic act of ghosts, trying to find a way out of their misery. Most usually, one finds out that the door has opened without actually observing the opening.

3. Things Disappear

You keep on looking for your keys for several minutes. Although you are sure you’ve checked – at least twice – the small table by the mirror, you suddenly realize that the keys are there.

It’s very common to observe things disappear and reappear without reason. As our Mage wrote in ‘Hauntings’  sometimes they may reappear in a totally different place, while other times they may never reappear.

4. Lights and Electronic Devices go Crazy

Do lights flicker for no reason? Are any electronic devices turn on or off without any effort of yours? Do computers or smartphones shut down or act like they have a will of their own?

The energy of ALL Spirits have actual electromagnetic effects. In fact, the more powerful the Ghost at home, the more mess it can make.

5. Weird Animal Behavior

Animals see the world in a very different way than humans. They can actually ‘see’ spirits and interact with the shadows or the ghost at home.

Whether animals are actually living with you or around your home, their behavior will change rapidly while a ghost is present. Animals can tell if this entity is good or hostile. During a ghostly visit, you can see your dog or cat staring at something you cannot see. They might try to hide or they can assume a defensive position.

But sometimes, Ghosts may have hostile intentions.

A Ghost at home is usually neutral but this has to do with the deceased human. Rarely, a human can be so evil, that his/her energy can transcend time and space, and come back to the Realm of the Living to continue the Evil Bidding.

Who are these people? Well, let’s see…

Evil sorcerers and practitioners of the Craft who lost their way

Twisted criminals, Serial Killers, or anyone with vicious intentions

REALLY angry Ghosts who cannot forgive the living ones for their unfair way of dying

3 Worrying Signs of a Ghost at Home

Here is a list of the most terrifying signs one may experience. Let me here make something clear here though. Worrying is beneficial as we actually can take some action.

HOWEVER, you are advised NEVER to panic. What should you do? Call an expert and deal with it together ESPECIALLY when things go this wrong!

1. Apparitions – Manifestations

Well, it goes without saying that if you can actually see the Ghost, then we’ve come too far. Apparitions include the actual manifestation of the Ghost in any possible form.

It may appear as human, as an animal, as a hybrid, or as a mist. The list is actually endless. Once you see something like this, you should immediately consult with an expert.

2. Levitation and Telekinesis

I have seen many times things get broken during an exorcism. Moreover, I once saw my bed floating in the air.

Do things break?

Levitate in front of your own eyes?

Well dear, time to call the ghostbusters. I mean it. You have to contact an expert in order to perform a ritual.

Some priests also may be helpful but you’ve got to call an expert honey. Not just someone who is just related to ‘these things.

3. Actual Physical Assault

I have a documented experience from my grandmother when she got assaulted by a very powerful hollow – ghost. She woke up full of bruises and scars. It’s real, trust me.

Do you wake up after a bad dream and you find scars and bruises over your body or others who live in your house? This is a time for action.

If this Ghost at home can leave bruises it can do more. You have to contact an expert and deal with the issue immediately.

Final Notes.

I STRONGLY advise you not to panic when you experience this kind of phenomenon. Try to think of it as a game of hide and seek. However, when things get this scary, seek assistance.

What Your Favorite Horror Movie Says About You

~Ghost Hunting Theories

Horror movies really come down to three categories. We could push it and say suspense/thriller and SciFi can also be horror, but let’s just talk about the straight-out horror genre.

Take a look at your collection and see which type you seem to have the most of –

Ghosts/supernatural/paranormal (e.g. “1408,” “The Haunting,” “The Awakening,” “Castle of Blood,” “Dead Silence”)

Stalker/slasher movies (e.g. “Halloween,” “Wrong Turn,” “When a Stranger Calls,” “Friday the 13th”)

Monsters/demons/beasts/zombies (e.g. “30 Days of Night,” “The Howling,” “Night of the Living Dead,” “Blood and Chocolate”)

If you ever wondered what your choices say about you, here are some assumptions that can be made:

If the largest amount of your horror movie collection involves ghosts/supernatural/paranormal, you’re a romantic at heart.

You like storytelling, darkness, mood, atmosphere, and the unseen.

You’re highly intelligent and don’t need your story fed to you on a platter. You’d rather leave a great deal to your imagination.

For you, the unseen is the most horrifying concept. You want your story to go at a nice creepy pace before building up to terrifying. You don’t need a lot of stimulation or dialogue. You just need good acting, good scripting, and a really artistic cinematographer.

More than likely, you’re a spiritual person and a bit of a philosopher who often wonders about the afterlife and is considerate of other people. You may tend toward introversion, as well.

Some more obscure movies I’d suggest to add to your collection for a connoisseur of this type of genre are “Sauna,” “Stir of Echoes,” “Gothika,” “Deathwatch,” “Castle of Blood,” and “Half Light.”

If the largest amount of your horror movie collection involves stalker/slasher theme, you are more than likely a person in need of high stimulation. The world of stalker/slasher movies is instant thrills and chills and you are more than likely a multitasker at heart.

Your mind is actively tearing apart the hero/heroine’s movies to figure out what you would do in such a situation. You don’t have a lot of patience for sitting through movies, and these keep you engaged. Like cheering a favorite sports team, you pick out the character you want to survive and you’re on the edge of your seat with them until the end.

You are also a person who believes in good and evil and the constant battle between what you believe in and those who wish to exert their will upon you. You like the black and white clarity of this genre.

Some qualities you might enjoy about this segment of the genre is kicking soundtracks, beautiful nubile characters, being wound up tightly by the pursuit, and relief when the bad guy dies (since life so rarely has such justice).

You are likely either an independent person or a natural-born leader. Perhaps a bit of everyday repressed anger lurks beneath so that these movie themes act out both your survival instinct and your frustrations about being told what to do.

Some more obscure movies you might want to add in this category would be “Catacombs,” “Black Christmas,” “In Dreams,” “Valentine,” and “The Return.”

If the largest amount of your horror collection involves monsters/demons/beasts/zombies, my guess is that you’re a closet SciFi person and perhaps a bit more conservative by nature. To you, a monster is a clear-cut enemy—nothing parading as human, so no guilt in the killing. Monsters are imposing and powerful, angry and large. To kill a monster is to truly win a battle!

People who enjoy monster films usually appreciate the special effects and monster-making capabilities of the moviemaker, as well as the overall damage and mayhem.

A monster is kind of a metaphor for fighting a foreign enemy—it’s “us” against “them.” Unlike slasher films in which the characters are all fighting for their own lives, in a monster movie everyone bands together to survive.

This category can include traditional monsters like vampires, zombies, and werewolves and go into the giant-sized ones like Godzilla and King Kong, but also such things as oversized Grizzly bears, aliens, Sasquatch, great white sharks, and the rest.

You are likely a person who enjoys being part of a group, clique, team. It’s the teamwork directed at a clear enemy that is a theme you appreciate.

In fact, here are some more obscure movies you might want to add to your collection in this category: “Them!” “The Cave,” “Brotherhood of the Wolf,” “Day of the Dead,” and “Cloverfield.”

I’ll be curious to see just what category you fall into, please report! I honestly switch around a lot depending on mood. Lately, I’ve been in the monster mood, but depending on the time of year, I switch off to slasher or supernatural. In all my movies I have saved, I own the most in the supernatural category, second-most in slasher, and least in monsters. If a new movie comes out, however, my true category wins – supernatural. It is the one I am most excited to see released.

Gilberto Rides Again  Chapter 7

by Stephen Halpert

Gilberto managed to drive the Bentley into a roadside rest area just off Route 95 toward Boston. He went to the men’s room, but the door was locked. Back at the Bentley he called his roadside service. They said they’d send assistance within the hour. The rain was now intermittent, a flurry of drops, then lightning and thunder followed by more of a drenching.

“We may as well sit at one of those picnic table umbrellas, more leg room and some shelter,” Gilberto said.

Sara frowned, said nothing, opened her door and followed him.

He thought he heard an imperceptible click from somewhere.

Sara remained quiet, seemed withdrawn. Did she feel remorseful or was she pouting? She moved to sit beside him and gently put her hand on his leg. “I love it when men wear loose shorts.”

He wondered about this, although he didn’t reply. He was too busy listening, but to what exactly he wasn’t sure.

“I love the feel of a strong masculine leg,” she persisted.

Now he was sure he heard something from a short distance away.

She slid her hand inside his shorts, further up his thigh. That caught him by surprise. His leg jerked inadvertently. He leaned closer to her and whispered. “I don’t think we’re alone.”

Somehow hearing that ticked her off. “Just you, me and the ants,” she said cynically. Her hand stayed inside his shorts, moving against his inner thigh. Finally, she said “Aren’t you wondering what’s going on.” Her voice was coy.

Gilberto knew he was supposed to be polite, tactful, even nice, but what came forth was “that’s a good way of putting it.”

He thought he heard creaking coming from the latrine. “Like I said I don’t think we’re alone,” he whispered.

She frowned. “That’s no way to act. Here I am trying to be friendly and you’re just acting stupid. You could have checked the gas gauge before we left Narragansett. My deceased husband certainly would have done that.”

Defensively churlish, Gilberto thought.

“And I thought we had good chemistry.”

Gilberto smirked. “I don’t know what gave you that idea.”

She blinked. “You know I excite you,” she parried. She squeezed his thigh harder. Were it Maria beside him, he knew that by this time they’d be atop one another, rolling in the wet grass.

She leaned closer her voice breathy. “Pretty obvious, at least to me.” Her tone was coy, seductive, demanding. “Even though he might pretend otherwise a woman knows when a man finds her desirable.”

He caught his breath, resisting her advances. “Don’t let it go to your head.”

She jerked her hand out from inside his shorts, her fist clenched. “I can’t believe you’d be so rude.”

That made him laugh. “You want rude. I’ll give you the best rude money can buy.”

Her eyes widened. Right now, you must know how much you want me. We both know it. Don’t lie. I can feel you’re responding.”

His head spun. Why couldn’t this be Maria. “Never gonna happen.” He looked her and felt like slapping her face. Restraining himself, he said, “Don’t kid yourself.”

She straightened up and drew back. “I make a terrible enemy Gilberto,” she hissed. “Don’t ever forget that.”

At that moment the stench of alcohol permeated the air. Gilberto saw a scruffy, drunken male lurch toward them. His face was ruddy, his eyes bloodshot. Wet clothes caked with mud clung to his emaciated form. In one hand he clutched a long, menacing, carving knife. He staggered toward them.

Sara shrieked.

Gilberto was poised to kick the knife away, but Sara was between them, in the way.

The drunk grabbed at Sara; his free hand clutched the top of her sundress, ripping it from her shoulders. She slipped backward onto the wet grass. Gilberto landed a kick hard against the side of the assailant’s neck. He fell, crying out in pain.

Sara managed to get to her knees. She reached into her bag, aimed, and sprayed a canister of pepper spray at the drunk’s face.

Half dazed he screamed and staggered away, dropping the knife.

“My sundress,” she cried, clutching the remains of the tattered cloth that clung against her wet skin. “I want him arrested, imprisoned for the rest of his life.”

“Be calm,” Gilberto said. “If he’s arrested and charges are pressed there’ll be any number of court appearances we’ll have to attend. For all we know his court appointed attorney could retaliate, sue us for assault. Sounds crazy but it could happen. Strange as that might seem. That kind of publicity won’t do Atlas any good.”

She managed to pull a tee shirt from her beach bag. “Turn around,” she demanded. She pulled off the remnants of her sun dress and pulled on the dry tee shirt and a pair of jeans shorts.

“You men are all the same,” she sneered. “A boy’s club that persecutes defenseless women.”

On that unfriendly note the road service arrived and provided gas for the Bentley. Finally, they got underway.

In total silence Gilberto drove through Kenmore Square onto Commonwealth Avenue. Then turning onto Charles Street, he pulled a familiar left turn and arrived at his condo.

As he climbed out of the Bentley, he said, “If you’d like some hot coffee or tea, I know Maria would be happy for you to come in.”

But instead of replying she glared at him, got out, walked around the to the driver’s side, got in and without a word drove off.

As a weary Gilberto came into the condo, Maria looked at him and smiled. “You look like you’ve been wrestling an alligator.”

“I wouldn’t call her an alligator, more like a man-eating shark.”

“I’ve some pizza in the toaster oven. Come sit down and I’ll pour you a beer.”

“That woman’s a trip and a half,” he said. One minute she flirts like mad and then the next her anger boils over like a volcano.”

He recapped the incident at the rest area with the homeless drunk.

When he told Maria how Sara persisted in sliding her hand up inside his shorts, she giggled. “I fear you’ll have to give me more accurate details, plus a comprehensive demonstration.”

“What do you mean? That’s exactly what she did.”

“Gilberto, for me to get a clearer picture I’ll need more facts.”

He grinned. “Now you’re acting like Perry Mason.”

“Yes, she said. “Finish your beer and pizza.”

Then she led him to their bedroom. “Yes,” she reaffirmed. “Much more evidence is required, so now you can take the witness stand.”

Why Do Cats Sit On You? Here Are 6 Reasons

By Susan Logan McCracken

Ever wondered, “Why do cats sit on you?” From basic needs like safety to more obscure reasons, like the fabric of your clothing, here’s why cats sit on you.

Why do cats sit on you? Downtime would not be the same for me without a purring cat on my lap. One of the greatest joys of living with cats is when one of them chooses to lounge on top of me. This special bonding time is good for me, as it lowers my blood pressure, and is good for my cat, as it meets some of her needs. Not all cats sit on their humans, though, and some become lap cats later in life. Although some breeds like the Ragdoll are known to be lap cats, it still depends on the cat, and only time with that individual will tell.

All cats are individuals and it depends on the individual cat, says Marilyn Krieger, Certified Cat Behavior Consultant (CCBC), based in Redwood City, California, and author of Naughty No More! In general, cats seek out a few basic needs when they sit on a human’s lap. There are other factors that play into cats sitting on you, like your clothes. Let’s look at some answers to “Why do cats sit on you?” here.

why do cats sit on you

Why do cats sit on you? One of the reasons might be because you’re nice and warm! Photography ©PCbang | Getty Images.

1. Why do cats sit on you? You’re warm!

Cats like warmth, and people’s laps are generally warm, Marilyn says.

2. Why do cats sit on you? They crave connection.

Cats gravitate toward people they like, and they seek connection with their favorite people, Marilyn adds. Sometimes they’re seeking petting, because people often pet the cat on their lap. Petting resembles their mom’s grooming, so most cats love receiving petting from their favorite people. Some cats also knead while they sit on someone’s lap. When they’re kneading, they’re simulating their neonatal days when they did that to their mothers to stimulate milk flow. “It can be a self-comforting behavior, as can purring,” Marilyn says.

3. Why do cats sit on you? It makes them feel safe!

One of the answers to “Why do cats sit on you?” is that some cats feel safer when they’re on their favorite person’s lap, Marilyn says.

4. Why do cats sit on you? Smell plays into it.

If you have a bathrobe that smells like you, your cat might sit on it whether you’re wearing it or not, Marilyn says. And if you’ve been to an animal shelter, your cat might detect a lot of other animal scents on you and avoid you. Don’t take it personally.

5. Why do cats sit on you? Your clothes matter!

Marilyn, who has three lap cats, noticed that her cats won’t sit on her when she’s wearing a plastic raincoat. My husband, Mark, noticed that when he wears his soft bathrobe, our cat Maddie, who usually sits on me, will sit on him instead.

I discovered the difference texture can make when a feral cat I helped take care of for about a year finally came and sat on my lap when I was wearing a soft fleece jacket. The first time I tried to pet her, she scratched me. But eventually, she let me pet her. Then she started sitting next to me on a picnic table bench and gradually started letting me pet her while sitting next to me. Then on a cold day, she rubbed up against my fleece jacket and, to my astonishment, climbed onto my lap.

Cats want to be comfortable and warm, Marilyn said when I told her this story, “and she trusted you.”

6. Why do cats sit on you? To show trust.

“They really do have to trust you to sit on your lap,” Marilyn says. She stresses the importance of not making a cat sit on your lap and giving the cat the option to leave. “When you give them that choice of sitting on your lap or not and leaving when they want to, they become more trusting of you.”

Pour the mixture into small paper cups (or whatever you are using as a mold) and place in the freezer until they are partially set. This should take about 1 hour and the mixture should be enough for around 5-6 lollies.

Once they have started to freeze, take them out and add a meaty stick-shaped cat treat to make the stick of the lolly. Place back in the freezer until they are completely frozen.

Once frozen, remove the paper cup before giving one to your cat. It’s best to give these to your cat outdoors (in the shade, if it’s a very hot day), or in a bowl, so the lolly doesn’t melt all over your floor!

Georgia Nichols: Weekly Horoscope: Sunday, June 27, 2021

All Signs

When aggressive planets make tough aspects to each other, this can predict scary accidents. However, this is not true for the great majority of the population. For most of us, it means an angry argument, broken equipment or a hasty, regrettable decision. On Thursday, Mars is opposite Saturn, and on Saturday, Mars is at odds with unpredictable Uranus. Yes, this indicates difficulties; but these difficulties will vary within a wide population. Nevertheless, it behooves one to be careful, n’est-ce pas? Of course! Expect the best and plan for the worst I always say! (That’s why whenever I cook for company, I make sure I have lots of milk and Kellogg’s cornflakes on hand.)

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Home and family are your main focus this week, especially your relations with a parent. It’s a busy week with errands and short trips. You want to talk to everyone and express your opinions. On Thursday, children might be an increased responsibility. Lovers’ quarrels are also likely. By Saturday, parents should be extra vigilant to avoid accidents with their kids. Everyone should do what they can to avoid sports accidents and mishaps, as well as delays and cancellations related to social occasions, parties and entertaining. This week is a bit of a rocky road for romance – no question. A feeling of rebellion, especially against restrictions, might make someone suddenly declare, “I’m outta here!”

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

This is a fast-paced week because you have so much on the go! Short trips, increased reading, writing and studying, busy errands plus conversations with siblings, relatives and neighbours not to mention an ambitious To Do list – enough to make one gasp. Meanwhile, you might entertain at home and buy beautiful things for your home as well. However, power struggles within the family might take place midweek. By the end of the week, be particularly careful to avoid problems with appliances, family arguments and domestic accidents or broken items. Slow down and take it easy so that you can stay on top of things with grace and inner control.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Although your primary focus this week is on money, earnings, cash flow and your possessions, nevertheless, this is a dicey week when it comes to your communications with others, especially daily contacts, neighbours and siblings and relatives. Knowing this ahead of time, you can be patient. You can edit your response to others so that you don’t trigger an argument; or perhaps, someone else will trigger an argument and you need to think before you respond so that you can de-escalate things. You will definitely notice power struggles on Thursday. Please note, on Friday/Saturday, there is an accident-prone influence for your sign so pay attention to everything you say and do. Be smart.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

With the Sun in your sign, you continue to attract favourable situations and friendly attention from friends and admirers. (Cancers are such supportive and loyal friends.) Nevertheless, something that you want to be aware of this week is a stressful influence that could impact your earnings, your cash flow or something that you own. For example, power struggles on Thursday about shared property or money or possessions might occur. Towards the end of the week, a source of earnings might be interrupted. Possibly, you will lose or break something that you own. You might even have an argument with someone about the ownership of something – something that is yours! And you know it!

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

Primarily, this is a low-key time for you because the Sun is waiting in the wings before your birthday arrives. That’s why this is an excellent week to make some goals for your new year ahead. For many of you, it will be a very different year. Meanwhile, this week is a bit challenging for you because Mars is in your sign and it is at odds with Saturn on Thursday, which will pit you against partners and close friends. Avoid these power struggles and instead be graceful and understanding. (For your own peace of mind.) By the end of the week, do what you can to avoid accidents or unexpected clashes with the police, parents or authority figures. You don’t need this aggro.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Your popularity continues! Enjoy schmoozing with friends and groups this week. Grab every chance to share your hopes and dreams for the future with someone because their feedback might help you. Discussions with authority figures will go well because you are admired. However, something going on behind the scenes might stir up some trouble. Midweek, whatever you try to do might meet with opposition or disapproval. And by the end of the week, something out of the blue might upset your secret plans or your desires to do something. Perhaps it means you have to sit this one out? You can easily do this.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

With the Sun at the top of your chart, you look fabulous to others now. Bosses, parents and important people are impressed with you, even if you don’t do anything special. Because of this advantage, now is the time to act. Make your pitch! However, a very different influence might interrupt a friendship this week. Power struggles with a group or a friend, especially someone older might take place midweek. It might be about kids, social plans, sports, vacations or financial speculation. In fact, this might mushroom into some kind of difficulty so that by the end of the week, a friendship is broken. Or you might quit a group? This could be because you don’t like conflict. When things are too contentious – you want to leave. Understandably so.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

You are still restless for travel and adventure this week, which is why you are up for anything and eager to accept all invitations to fun outings! However, something disconcerting that you might face this week could be power struggles with a parent, a boss or someone in a position of authority – including the police. This clash could take place midweek. In fact, it might increase in intensity so that by the weekend, you are truly at odds with someone to the extent that you make a break. Possibly, this weekend challenge is the displeasure of a boss, the police or someone in authority? This won’t be too bad because lucky Jupiter has your back this year. Basically, this is a fun-loving year for you.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

Many details related to shared property, taxes, debt, insurance issues and inheritances continue to absorb your attention. Mercury opposite your sign will help you clarify and explain issues to others. This is good. Nevertheless, you might encounter power struggles in discussions with someone midweek. Be wise and avoid controversial subjects like politics, religion and racial issues. By the end of the week, travel plans might suddenly change or you might encounter unexpected changes with school plans or something to do with medicine and the law. Likewise, these sudden changes or challenges could impact plans for publishing and the media. These areas are right up your alley.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

This week you will need more sleep because the Sun is still symbolically as far away from your sign as it gets all year, and the Sun is the source of your energy. This polarized position of the Sun does however, channel your focus on partners and close friendships. Meanwhile, some kind of dispute about inheritances and shared property or insurance issues might arise midweek. These are never easy. In fact, by the weekend, something unexpected might change everything. Fortunately, Venus is in the picture and Venus wants to protect your interests. This is a good thing. Take things slow and easy but expect the best. Do your homework so that you are well-prepared to defend your best interests, especially financially speaking.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

You are still working hard and feeling a sense of reward because you are getting better organized. Bit by bit, step-by-step. “Every day in every way I’m getting better and better.” This works! However, power struggles with a partner or close friend might arise midweek. Meanwhile, with Mars in your sign, you will stick up for yourself. In fact, repressed grievances might come out into the open. This could be why — by the weekend, some relationships are in trouble. What you have is a situation where someone wants to revolt because they feel angry and they feel restricted. This could be an indication of a need for change. Meanwhile, guard against impulsive, reckless decisions, which feel good in the moment but are later regrettable. (Been there, done that.)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

You are definitely in a playful mood and keen to party, socialize, enjoy sporting events, which is why you will grab every chance to have some fun. This will also include your enjoyment of playful activities with kids. Romance is rewarding as well. Ah yes, the good life! Having said that, power struggles related to your job might take place midweek. They could grow into a full-blown argument by the weekend that indicates a split with someone. Pet owners should know that midweek and by the weekend, they should keep an eye on their pet to avoid accidents. For some of you, these work challenges could mean equipment breakdowns or computer glitches that are frustrating. Let’s hope for the best!

Personal theme: I am!!

Fire & cardinal sign: March 21 — April 19

Your horoscope for this week:

While you’ve been aware pivotal decisions were looming, you’ve lacked vital facts and, as important, been unsure of your own priorities. Yet others are in a hurry. Tell them they’ll just have to wait. The foundation on which even the simplest of plans are based is changing, frequently and often irrationally. By the week’s close, both the actual circumstances and what and who comes first will be much clearer.

You will be thanking your lucky stars for the good news that comes your way early in the week. This will confirm you have one foot in the door of your new destiny. You may have set your sights high but you also know your goals are realistic. Actions you take now will not have been without a good deal of serious thought. You trust you are on the right path and very soon you can start relaxing ‘ which is something you haven’t done in a long while.

Thursday’s Last Quarter Moon is in your sign and brings a turning point. That this phase coincides with your ruling planet, Mars, opposing Saturn, suggests you might hit a brick wall. A project begun around two years ago might require tough decision. Yet this week, Jupiter and Uranus are on their way to forming a quintile (fifth of a cycle) aspect. This should bring your creative talents to the surface. Whatever the difficulties that need to be negotiated in the first half of the week, should be resolved by the weekend – thanks particularly to the input of someone younger who sees obstacles as exciting challenges. This person could remind you of your own natural style! Once re-energised (most likely on Friday), you should make excellent headway.

Personal theme: I have!!

Earth & fixed sign: April 20 — May 20

Your horoscope for this week:

After a lengthy period of informative but frustratingly pointless discussion, you’re impatient, if not anxious about turning ideas into plans, and those into action. For now, continue to declutter your thinking and commitments to pointless distractions. Equally, explore unexpected ideas, events or offers. They may not seem promising now, but dramatic developments around the beginning of next week could change everything, possibly overnight.

Your mood seems to be more purposeful than most people around you. Even so there will be times when you seem to blend into your environment quite nicely. You will be getting on with your own concerns while enjoying the carefree spirit of your friends and other companions. There is someone whose company you would not want to miss for the world and you will both be making some exciting plans for the future.

That Uranus, (the planet of ‘doing your own thing’ is now moving through your sign suggests that latent entrepreneurial talents will be on display. Mars and Saturn straddle the backbone of your solar chart suggests that this could be a defining professional moment when you challenge the status quo. Apprehensive as you may be about your ability to bring a team together, or to delegate certain tasks, fact is, that this is likely the best way forward. What seems particularly significant especially in the second half of the week, is your relationship with the Internet and general presentation. This may be the moment to improve or reset your profile on social media accounts, and perhaps even open up a new account that flaunts developing interests and career desires.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——- —— —– —- — — –

Personal theme: I think!!

Air sign: May 21 — June 20

Your horoscope for this week:

Although your ruler Mercury’s cycle of reverse, or retrograde, movement ended on the 22nd, you’re still untangling confusion and dealing with a range of unanswered questions. While you may not be feeling patient, instead of rushing things, allow facts to surface in their own time. Not only are the details likely to be more reliable, you’ll realise that your mind’s much clearer as well.

Taken all round, this should be a reasonably easy going ending to the month. You couldn’t ask for more than the light-hearted and fun company around you. Although romance will be taking a backseat you won’t even be noticing this when there are so many other exciting things going on to divert, distract and delight you. There just seems no escaping the happy mood that envelops your life at this time. Family and friends can’t seem to do enough for you.

There is, for your sign, always the danger of talking more than listening. This week especially you should focus on the latter. Opportunities likely abound. The art is not to keep talking about what it is that you’ve done or achieved in the past, but rather to focus firmly on what you intend to do from now on. In this you may be much encouraged by those born under the Fire signs of Aries, Leo or Sagittarius whose enthusiasm for your plans may be just what you need. It’s likely that they are either involved in athletics or that there is a physical fitness component to their career path. It won’t be so surprising if you are faced with some kind of test before the end of June. This shouldn’t be seen as something you necessarily have to pass, but would provide you with a useful measure. With this hurdle behind you, you may be offered an intriguing travel opportunity.

Personal theme: I feel!!

Water & cardinal sign: June 21 — July 22

Your horoscope for this week:

Obviously, you’d rather turn appealing ideas into lasting plans. Currently, however, you’re better off decluttering your diary and your thinking, all in preparation for the fresh start triggered by the powerful Cancer New Moon on Saturday 10 July; and between now and then? Make a point of meeting people and exploring every idea you encounter. They’re only the beginning of a cycle of expansion, discovery and growth.

Business will be a pleasure when although you will insist on doing some things in your own way, no one is likely to stand in your way. Your boss will be pleased to see how enthusiastic you are to take the initiative. Your decisiveness will show in family relationships too. If someone at home has been acting suspiciously, they will have to come up with a good excuse for this or you will lay our cards on the table.

Thursday’s Last Quarter Moon in another of the Cardinal signs, coincides with an opposition between Mars and Saturn. Many people will feel as though they’ve hit a dead end. If they look past whatever the difficulty is however, they might also see that there are very bright lights ahead. New ways of working clearly have to be found. Saying goodbye to past methods is essential. Some signs will likely find this harder than others: you being one of them. Your memory of how things were could, though, be a little rose tinted. It is now time to put your best creative foot forward. It’s possible that you will be invited to join a team with whom you’ve had dealings in the past. This time there may be a more formal method of engagement. Yet with Venus having joined Mars in neighbouring Leo, your expectations of how you might be rewarded might need to be managed. In this respect, the advice of someone older (or a Capricorn), should be most useful.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——- —— —– —- — — –

Personal theme: I will!!

Fire & fixed sign: July 23 — August 22

Your horoscope for this week:

Several elements of your life are coming undone, from habits to elements of your social or working life. However, each is clearing the way for unexpected events, if not very real breakthroughs. This begins unfolding now but will intensify over the coming months. The challenge? Relinquishing control to destiny, in terms of timing and details. The payoff? Changes far better than you’ve dared imagine possible.

Financial rewards are heading your way as a consequence of your hard-working efforts of the past week or so. Someone close will come up with a hard luck story. This is a one you’ve now heard once too often so they won’t be fooling you. There’s some tension in the home when a housemate isn’t good company. A day out shopping or meeting with friends will be far more enjoyable than remaining in your own four walls. At least in your social relationships, others will be glad of your company.

Venus has joined Mars in your sign where they will conjoin mid-July. This isn’t something that happens every year and suggests that the spotlight will be firmly on you and your relationships: business and otherwise. Thursday’s Last Quarter Moon coincides with the opposition of Mars to Saturn. This would seem to indicate a make-or-break moment – taking place ahead of an extraordinary aspect between Jupiter and Uranus. The latter is, as you know, shaking your very foundations and leaving you desirous of a different environment. The combination of all these factors suggest that this is the week when you’ll determine that you really do have to move on. Don’t forget, yours is one of the Fixed signs: reluctance is in your nature. Maybe though, that there has to be a parting of the ways (a short sharp shock if you like), before you embrace the future. Don’t be surprised if you feel the need to exercise your lion’s roar in the process.

Personal theme: I analyse!!

Earth sign: August 23 — September 22

Your horoscope for this week:

Your ruler Mercury’s retrograde cycle ended on the 22nd, which means that by now you’d have imposed order on the resulting chaos. Yet things aren’t proceeding as expected. That’s because the foundation on which they’re based is itself changing. While this might worry you initially, it’s soon clear these changes aren’t just overdue, they’re clearing the way for a better way of living and working.

A personal aim you never thought would come true is showing remarkable signs of promise. It will feel good to know your hopes weren’t unrealistic after all. Following on the heels of a favourable start to the week you might enjoy some fun times with friends later. You aren’t about to sit around watching all the good opportunities being snapped up by someone else. You are on the ball and when your big chance arises there will be no holding you back.

Yours is, as you know, one of the Earth signs of the zodiac. You can be super practical. It seems you also have a gift for identifying what could be improved. This week, a triangle formed between the asteroids Vesta, Ceres and Pluto coincides with the Last Quarter Moon in action-orientated Aries. Some people may feel they’ve hit a brick wall in the second half of the week. Rather than view obstacles, you’ll likely see advantages: time for rethink and practical reconstruction. Another aspect indicates extraordinary opportunity but does require that blinkers are taken off. This is where you could truly excel. The fact that others have reached their limit might be infuriating at one level, but offer an opportunity to think and work differently and yes, to do work what you do so well, make alteration and multitask.

Personal theme: I balance!!

Air & cardinal sign: September 23 — October 22

Your horoscope for this week:

While you may not have been consciously aware that certain elements of your life needed to change, once things begin to shift, often dramatically and sometimes overnight, you’ll recognise that these are nothing short of breakthroughs. The only problem is that others won’t always fully understand the benefits, at least as things stand. If so, simply avoid discussing matters until the facts are clearer.

If you are lonely and in need of some company or a little romance, don’t be too reluctant to let a friend do some matchmaking. Someone wants to play Cupid. At least give their ideas a chance. You could be glad you did. You might find it interesting to keep up to date with local news and it could be useful too, to take notice of what others have to say. Stay alert.

You may need to accept that one working partnership is now in its last stages. It could be that there is a short revival before you both decide to move on. The recent Solar Eclipse was in another of the Air signs. No doubt this special New Moon fuelled desire to improve lines of communication and explore networking options. With your ruling planet, Venus having joined Mars in a Fire signs, you could begin that process. True, you may not sign on the dotted line for a couple of weeks yet; but identifying which groups you want to be affiliated with should prove an enjoyable selecting experience. You may recall that for many months, there have been two-week periods when all the planets have been grouped on one side of the sun. All signs have been aware of the lack and imbalance: you perhaps more than others. With this planetary picture altering and a fairer distribution appearing in the coming months, your world should open up too.

Scorpio & Ophiuchus

Personal theme: I desire!!

Water & fixed signs: October 23 — November 21

Your horoscope for this week:

Only when you compare notes with others do you realise that what they regard as planning ahead is, to you, a vague outline. Ordinarily you’ve lists made and any necessary support organised. However, with so much in transition, aim to adopt their more easy-going approach. It’s out of character and may be initially worrying. However, you’ll soon be grateful both arrangements and your thinking are so flexible.

This will be a good time to further any intentions you may have to bring improvements into your life. Don’t be afraid to fill in that job application or to approach your boss for a pay rise. You will never get anywhere without trying and although you don’t usually need a push to get you going, some gentle encouragement from an experienced colleague will help you accomplish a great deal. Efforts to complete a domestic project will be stepped up.

Venus joins Mars now moving over the career sector of your solar chart. It will likely feel imperative that you do things that bring pleasure, which are creative and which offer reward at all levels. The fact that this is a priority desire doesn’t of course mean that it will happen. Yet with the Last Quarter Moon in another of the Mars- ruled signs on Thursday, it’s very likely that you’ll choose to say goodbye to activities that no longer give satisfaction. You should be ready to branch out and yes, join forces with those who presently seem just so, so inspired. The solar eclipse may have been almost 2 weeks ago, but it should now be obvious that certain individuals are altering direction. The fact that they clearly want to continue working with you, – and are asking you to make career adjustment too, should, at the very least, be heart-warming. It’s entirely possible that by the time Venus and Mars conjoin mid-July, that a firm offer will be on the table.

Personal theme: I see!!

Fire sign: November 22 — December 21

Your horoscope for this week:

While you’re an optimist by nature and regard the unexpected as a stimulating challenge, even you could struggle to deal with constant twists and turns in circumstances, others’ thinking and, as a result, in your own priorities. Actually, that’s the secret. The more flexible your thinking and your plans are, the better advantage you’ll take of this thrilling, if unsettling, period of a month or so.

Your ability to look on the bright side does a lot to keep you strong. You might also notice an ease of aches or other minor complaints that have been more frustrating than debilitating. There are some links with an institution during the back end of the week when you may be visiting a friend or relative who is sick or doing some charity work. Whatever the reason for a group project, you can expect a favourable outcome.

It should be clear that others are pushing you forward – even whilst you are resistant (through genuine reluctance or unwell-ness). Thursday’s Last Quarter Moon is in another of the Fire signs and coincides with an opposition of Mars to Saturn. Clearly all signs will feel this. In a sense, it’s something of an obstacle or a brick wall. You may feel that you have reached the end of one course of study or that the relationship with one expert has to come to an end. With a fabulous aspect between Jupiter, your ruling planet, and Uranus (the planet that does things differently) developing next weekend, it seems likely that you will be ready to leave the orthodox and move towards the unconventional. Exploring fresh ideas might now seem imperative. Yes, this is likely to come from someone younger and who has yet doesn’t have a wealth of experience. Their instincts though could be absolutely sound and lead you onto slightly adjusted career path – but one that brings great pleasure.

Personal theme: I use!!

Earth & cardinal sign: December 22 — January 19

Your horoscope for this week:

If you’re still thinking about recent events, it’s no surprise. The Capricorn Full Moon, on Thursday the 24th, brought both facts and your own feelings to a head. While you’ve probably already discussed most of the matters in question, many are so complex you’ll need time for reflection. Take it. What you learn in the process will offer insights for the present and the future.

You are in the middle of some contrary pulls and frustrations. Family life doesn’t seem to be fitting in with your career or vice-versa. A part time job may have slowly developed into a full-time commitment or your normal workload is increasing so rapidly you’re finding it hard to fit family commitments into your new schedule. A small party or get-together will give you the chance to widen your social circle. People you meet will also have some important business connections.

Next Thursday, there is a Last Quarter Moon in another of the Cardinal signs. This coincides with Mars’ opposition to Saturn, your ruling planet. If you think of the planets as playing music, this suggests a major – perhaps final chord playing. That’s certainly how many signs of the zodiac will hear it. Expect, as June comes to a close, to hear that some individuals have decided they are definitely moving on. This could free you of irksome responsibility. It could also though usher in a new phase in your working life. It’s said that Capricorn likes responsibility. It’s perhaps more accurate to say that you like challenge. Brace yourself, as plenty of that seems to be on the way. There is every likelihood that you will be asked to bring a team together. In the process, you may be asked to assist someone much younger who has yet hasn’t found their feet in the industry and perhaps feels they’ve been thrown in at the deep end and needs encouragement.

Personal theme: I know!!

Air & fixed sign: January 20 — February 18

Your horoscope for this week:

Admittedly, you’re easily bored. However, the range of twists and turns you’re facing, in circumstances but and, equally, your own priorities could be exhausting. The secret? Regard planning as an experiment, rather than something you intend to stick with. The fact is, you’re not alone in living in this changeable world, with its numerous uncertainties. The more flexible your attitude, the more you’ll enjoy it.

Patience is called for when a friend or workmate will be so full of their own troubles and woes, they don’t seem to realise how depressed they are making other people feel. A gentle hint that they may be going on just a little too much may not be enough to get through to them. You might suggest they consult a professional. A lot of effort is necessary for changes you are thinking about making but you will thank yourself for your assertiveness in the future.

On Thursday, and coinciding with the Last Quarter Moon, Mars opposes Saturn (which you remember may remember is working its way through your sign). This represents a milestone. Many signs could find this a key turning point. It could be that a working partnership comes to what feels like a brutal end. Actually, it may be that you need that to have finality before you face new working arrangements. It’s a curious thing, but some signs need hiatus before moving on. Note too, that Mercury is now moving in direct motion in another of the Air signs. Your thirst for information is likely to be much, much increased. It’s likely that something that until now has been a hobby or mild interest, could be developed into a useful revenue stream. In short, this week should bring the turning point you’ve been waiting for.

Personal theme: I believe!!

Water sign: February 19 — March 20

Your horoscope for this week:

Facing constant, and unsettling, changes? Do your best to side-line your idealism and, equally, forget about trying to ensure everything works out. The fact is, what you learn from dealing with the unexpected will be far more profitable than if things went according to plan. Next, focus on exploring new options. This prepares you for the next round of unsettling, yet exciting, twists and turns.

Your love life is unsettled. You really won’t want to rock the boat but no matter what you do or say your partner picks up the wrong end of the stick. The best solution could be to keep well out of their way for the time being. You might get the feeling you could be better off someplace else and you may be right. If it feels like you’ve got yourself in a rut it is time you found a way to climb out of it.

Mercury is no longer retrograde. That little planet has been passing over the base of your solar chart and there may have been moments when you felt you didn’t know if you were coming or going – a situation that might continue through until the Last Quarter Moon on Thursday. That is likely to be ‘make your mind’ up time. This could be to do with property but it could equally about your working environment. The good news is that all this happens slightly ahead of a fabulous aspect between Jupiter, your ruling planet, and Uranus (planet of the unexpected). It could yet be that as one door closes, another opens and that there really is an exciting future. True, you may not be able to take full advantage for some months yet. The point is that decisions taken this week should allow you to leave the past securely behind and to embrace future opportunity.y.
