Life smiles at you when you are happy;
But, life salutes you when you make others happy.”

Light A Candle Today!
In many different traditions lighting a candle is a sacred action. It expresses more than words can express. It has to do with gratefulness. From time immemorial, people have lit candles in sacred places. You may want to begin or end your day by the sacred ritual of lighting a candle on this gratefulness. Or you may want to light a birthday candle for a friend. One single guideline is all you need: Slow down and do it with full attention.

December 7, 2020 – December 13, 2020.
We start off with the Moon moving through dutiful Virgo. This is a great time for finishing tasks, working on hobbies, or beginning to focus on exercise and health. Activities that you begin while the Moon is in Virgo have a high chance of success because the Moon makes a beneficial trine to Saturn in Capricorn.
During the middle of the week, you may feel your energy dwindling and may need a boost to perform activities as the Sun squares Neptune. Focusing on personal needs and taking care of your soul may be a more productive use of this energy than activities that require mental focus and/or drive and determination.
This weekend there is a lovely trine between the Sun and Mars which should help bring your energy levels back up but be careful when making decisions on Sunday with Mercury squaring confusing Neptune. The best candles for this week are Hoo Doo Road Opener, Uncrossing, and Blessed Herbal Energy and Will.

The year 2020 was packed full of collective events that will become permanent backdrops to our tapestry of history. We opened the year with potent Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn and ushered in a new deadly virus that began infecting the citizens of Wuhan.

Pearls of Wisdom Tarot
This card shows a strong independent woman. She brings light to all situations and to all that know her. She says “You know what you want and how to get it. Just believe in yourself.”
by Ember Grant
Sometimes as a result of our busy lives, our altars become neglected and covered with dust or clutter. Take some time to remove all the items and clean them as well as the altar itself. Clean physically and magically. Remove dust and dirt first, and clean all your objects and tools. Then perform a cleansing ritual.
Create a cleansing “potion” by adding a few drops of lemon juice to a cup of warm water. Put the lemon water in a spray bottle and add a clear quartz crystal. Also add a grain of salt, if desired (saltwater can damage some surfaces).
Spray this mixture lightly on everything, then dry with a soft cloth. Visualize the space and objects being refreshed and renewed for their purposes. Chant as you clean:
“This space is clean, the objects too,
With the water, all renew.
Unwanted energy dispel,
With these words, all be well.”
Magical Fixes for the Monday Morning Blues
If you’re singing the Monday morning blues (no matter what day of the week it is), here are five magical ways you can change your tune:
- PREPAVING: This is one of our favorite magical techniques from one of our teachers. Just sit for 3-5 minutes in a quiet spot and focus on what you want and how you want your day to look. We spend so much time worrying about what we have to do, what we should do and what might happen that we forget what’s most important – what we want! So spend a few minutes sending the Universe a few hints about how you want your day to look, and the Universe will deliver exactly that, and then some!
- SUN CANDLE: Did you know that the color sun yellow (bright yellow with no orange) actually nourishes and refreshes your Spirit? If you’re feeling groggy, grumpy or grouchy, sit in front of a lit sun yellow candle for a few minutes. It will refresh you and give you happy, joyful energy.
- CONSCIOUS CHOICE: We spend so much time in our minds that our Spirits don’t get much chance to come out and play. Yet, we are happiest when we are living in Spirit rather than in mind. To give you a hint, you were probably most in Spirit when you were a playful child. So, to get your Spirit in gear for a fun and playful day, make a conscious choice – it exercises Spirit. Just say to yourself, “I will now make a conscious choice.” Then ask yourself a question such as, “Do I choose to have cereal or toast for breakfast?” Go with the first answer you hear or receive. Following Spirit’s guidance will align your energies and make for a positive day.
- GREET THE DAY: One way to stay in touch with your Spirit and with nature is to go outside and greet the day. It’s simple. Go outside, extend your attention into the sky and say, “Sky Above.” Then, extend your attention into the earth and say, “and Earth Below.” Then, with attention both above and below, say, “I greet you.” Wait a moment and see what gifts the Universe brings you (this is a simple form of the Navajo Beauty Way). You will experience peace, joy, satisfaction and nourishment.
- HIRE SOME HELPERS: Need a little extra help today? Hire some helpers! Whether it’s animal totems or angels, all kinds of powers and beings stand ready to help you. All you have to do is ask! Some people draw cards from the Medicine Card deck to set the “tone” of their day, while other people hire angels. Whoever you hire, just remember to thank them when you receive the help you’ve asked for.
There are so many ways to design your day and your life and magick can help. Just remember to have fun with it!
Crystals for Sagittarius

Do essential oils really work? Experts say yes — here are the ones you should try
by Kelsey Weekman
Feeling tired, irritable, confused or stressed? Breathing in the soothing smell of essential oils can seriously make all the difference.
Essentials oils are a liquid extracted from plants that capture their scent, or “essence.” They’re commonly used in aromatherapy.
According to Healthline, inhaling these scents can stimulate your limbic system — a part of your brain that plays a role in controlling your emotions, behaviors and memory.
There are over 90 essential oils that are commonly used, but here’s what experts had to say about four that should be, well, essential in your arsenal.
If you’re feeling mentally fatigued after a long day at work or physically fatigued after crushing a workout, peppermint is the way to go.
Experts say it can actually improve your lung capacity and supply more oxygen to your brain to help with that “foggy” feeling.
It also helps with concentration and memory and has been known to aid digestion.
If you’re experiencing jet lag, confusion or nausea, give lemongrass a shot.
The oil, which is often used in cooking and herbal medicines, invigorates your senses and helps promote calmness and clarity.
It also has antibacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties according to various studies. This essential oil is incredibly hardworking.
Feeling anxious, sad or irritable? Lavender could be your go-to.
Experts say it helps promote cognitive functions, just like peppermint, and can help you feel both calmer and more alert.
“I have it diffusing into my room pretty much every night before bed,” In The Know’s Phoebe Zaslav said.
Phoebe said the same about eucalyptus, which can “seriously” help with stress.
It can also improve your memory, help you focus and even make you feel optimistic, according to professionals.
Essential oils are pretty magical — just be sure to do your research before using them and set reasonable expectations about what they can do for you. On the other hand, don’t ingest them!
In Memory of John Lennon 40 years After His Assassination
It is hard to believe that it has been 40 years since one of the beacons of light that shined upon our consciousness and our world was extinguished. John Lennon touched the lives of so many people with his music, his strong views about peace, and stopping war. He was willing to expose all parts of himself the good and the not so good. Yet, he always remained true to himself.
For those who do not know John Lennon, here is a brief scenario (John Winston Lennon), October 09, 1940 – December 08, 1980. Born in Liverpool, England John was a member of the Beatles, a prolific songwriter, and also had a successful solo career. He was shot and killed as he entered his apartment building in New York City. He was 40. John Lennon was the first celebrity assassinated.
I was twelve years old when the Beatles came to America, and I was immediately drawn to the humor of John Lennon. He demonstrated his intelligence in any interview given. The music of the Beatles was magic at that time, and it certainly lit a fire under me that has not extinguished to this day. I was fortunate to see the Beatles perform live three times fortunately I was close to the stage the last time I saw them, and it was indescribable.
John was always the most outspoken, and, at one point in 1966, he was condemned in the United States because of stating that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus. He was not saying that they were greater than Jesus but just that their popularity extended farther. It was the truth at that time. From then on he received death threats and was told that he would be assassinated during their 1966 United States tour. This is one of the main reasons the Beatles stopped performing live.
Fame was a great pressure on John, and he looked for other avenues to explore having conquered the world. He discovered LSD and used it to open up his creativity. From there he discovered meditation and went to India to practice and learn from a master. He met Yoko Ono, and they fell in love even though they were both married at the time. He felt Yoko was his soul mate, and they were together until the end of his life.
They started a movement for peace and love. He gained new world recognition for his peace movement and his views against all wars. He expressed his views through his music and many people paid attention. His goal was to have people get along and follow the path of love and peace. For a time John went into seclusion, but in 1980 he was making a comeback with a new album, the first in five years, and ready to get back into his many causes.
Unfortunately there was a man who was jealous of John’s fame and success and decided that he could obtain some fame by killing John Lennon. And on a cold December night he did the unthinkable.
I was fortunate to live in Los Angeles and saw the Beatles in person three different times. It was a lasting memory. I followed the Beatles faithfully until their breakup and from there I continue to follow each one’s music. But as always John seemed to be expressing the feelings that I had.
December 08, 1980 I was at the Los Angeles Forum watching the Los Angeles Kings play a hockey game. Suddenly, during the game, I heard a voice tell me to leave the building quickly. I knew there was a reason and I decided to leave right then and there. As I was walking out one of the guards asked me if I had heard and I thought he meant the hockey score, and I said yes I had heard. When I got in my car I turned on the radio and a Beatles song was playing.
When it finished the disc jockey said, “In memory of John Lennon who was shot to death this evening.” I couldn’t believe what I had just heard. I kept changing stations to get more information about what had happened. I could not stop crying and all I did was drive home quickly.
It was unbelievable that a man who had tried so hard to stop the war and bring people together with peace and love had been killed by an assassin. Of course I watched the news on television and went to bed with a sense of great loss because John Lennon represented so much of my life.
The next day I went to the Redondo Beach Pier and set staring at the ocean where I said my goodbyes to John for all he had brought into my life, and I released him into love and light knowing that he was already there.
I did not grieve for John because I know that our fate is pre destined. Also I know that there is a spirit world and he is there. I continue to listen to the Beatles and John Lennon’s music and always enjoy it. I am thankful that I lived in the most exciting time there was the 1960’s and I was able to experience Beatlemania full on.
Rather than dwell on his murder I want to remember all that he did in his short 40 years. He definitely kept me aware of what was going on in the world through his music and his peaceful demonstrations.
He gave a voice to the consciousness that so many were feeling and unable to find the words or ways to express it. John did.
Ironically he was killed on the birthday of Jim Morrison, singer, songwriter, and poet of The Doors, who if he would have lived would be 77 years old this year. So many brilliant men have gone, but their words and music live on.
Each year new people discover John Lennon for the first time. In Havana, Cuba, they have a wonderful bronze statue of John Lennon sitting casually on a park bench as though he is observing those who pass by. Recently a teenager asked me if I knew who John Lennon was. I just had to smile at that question.
Because John was only 40 years old when he died he will always be remembered young and I wonder what he would have been like at 80 years of age. He still would have been turning out fabulous music and art, just as Paul McCartney, Ringo, and George Harrison have done throughout the years.
Worldwide he is loved. His legacy will never be forgotten.
Thank you John for everything,
May John’s Message Reverberate Throughout The World!
Heartwings Love Notes 960: Focus is all important.
Heartwings says: “Complaining can be counterproductive.”
There are times when it’s good to complain. When something important needs to be corrected, those who can do that need to know. When workmanship is shoddy or a purchase does not live up to its guarantee, making a complaint is appropriate. However, as I recently discovered for myself, it’s not a good idea to complain to oneself about what one can no longer do, or if one is not living up to one’s own expectations based on the past. I have had many lessons on this.
An early one occurred when I was in high school in the Boson area. I lived with my grandmother there during the week. Nonny, as she preferred to be called, was a generous person, and kind to me in her own way. Quite stern in her view point, she was of the “stiff upper lip” school, because this had been her upbringing. She felt the only feelings one ought to express were those that were positive: no complaints were to be made. One was supposed to grin and bear it.
I remember once being very sad and disappointed about something, although I don’t remember what, and standing before her with tears running down my face. She looked at me stonily and said, “You had better stop crying or I’ll give you something to cry about.” Although that memory is seventy years old, it’s crystal clear in my mind. I thought about it recently when I was complaining to myself about not living up to my personal expectations.
It seemed to me that I was getting slower, less efficient, and somehow weaker. This bothered me. I began bemoaning this to myself. Then it occurred to me that by focusing on my inabilities, I was actually emphasizing them. It also occurred to me that this wasn’t helping me to improve. It might even be making things worse. Nor was I taking into account what I could accomplish and giving myself credit for that. I realized I needed to rethink my attitude, and to do things differently.
It has been said that getting old is not for sissies. Dealing with abilities that have declined can be tricky, especially when you remember what has been the norm in the past. There is no denying that at eighty or more, most of us cannot accomplish what we could at fifty or sixty. However, when I focus on what I can do, I don’t need to grieve the past nor to feel diminished. Now having realized that, instead of complaining I am working to tell myself “good job,” and rejoice in my victories large or small.
May you find ways to encourage yourself and praise your accomplishments.
Blessings and best regards, Tasha Halpert

Llewellyn’s Spell A Day
By Kate Freuler
Spiritual cleansing of the home is often done with smoke, smudging or misting an area to clear away unwanted vibrations. Did you know this can also be achieved by using sound? Next time you’re in a thrift store, see if you can find a small hand-held bell. These are often made of brass or other metals, and make a resonating, clanging noise when you shake them.
Cleanse your bell in the moonlight, then carry it around your home. In each room, ring the bell as hard and loud as you can, and see the sound vibrations filling the space, pushing away all stale and unwanted energy. Imagine the sounds of the bell filling every nook and cranny of each room with the clear, bright vibration, permeating every inch of your space and neutralizing it.
This cleansing method is a good alternative for those who don’t like smoke or heavily scented products.
By Melissa Tipton
This spell is useful for projects that require a sustained effort, from a few days to a few years. You’ll activate five powers, one for each of your fingers. Throughout the project, you can call on any or all of these powers when needed by pressing together the relevant fingers and bringing the power to mind:
- Thumb: Strength; the ability to gather and apply energy in service of your goal
- Index finger: Focus; mindful attention on aspects relevant to your goal
- Middle finger: Balance; effective interplay of polarities, such as work/rest, intellect/intuition, etc.
- Ring finger: Commitment; sustained effort and motivation for the duration of the project
- Pinkie: Creativity; the ability to think and do in new ways and make interesting, relevant connections
To activate the powers, press the fingers of the opposite hands together, one at a time, as you say:
I activate the powers at hand:
The strength of the thumb,
Focus of the index,
Balance of the middle,
Commitment of the ring,
And creativity of the pinkie.
Saint Nicholas Day Fun
By Cerridwen Iris Shea
This is an old family tradition in our house, based on the European tale of Saint Nicholas coming this night to fill the shoes/stockings of the household (one of the origins of the Santa tales). We decided to keep it and incorporate it into our pagan rituals. Saint Nicholas Day is actually tomorrow, but tonight is the fun.
Before bedtime, each individual in the house puts out a shoe, either at the hearth or outside their bedroom door.
When it’s quiet, household members sneak out and fill each other’s shoes with favorite chocolates, fruit, bags of chocolate coins, and a small toy. Part of the fun is not being caught by other household members!
Before you distribute the items, make sure you bless them, giving thanks to Saint Nicholas for his generosity. Everyone finds a shoe filled with delightful treats in the morning!
Krampus Holiday Fun Spell
By Ari Mankey
Krampus is the original “wild man” of the Yuletide season. Though he has a reputation for being a rather stern figure, he’s usually the life of the party.
If the holidays have you depressed, place a small piece of mistletoe in a bag (mistletoe is poisonous, so keep it wrapped up!) and say the following words over it:
May I be merry,
May I be bright,
A Yuletide delight.
Krampus, hear my plea.
This is my will, let it be!
The powers of Krampus and the mistletoe will help you overcome any holiday malaise and make you the center of attention at any office Christmas party.
By Barbara Ardinger
Today is sacred to the Lord of the Dance, who is portrayed as standing on one foot inside a rayed circle, dancing his cosmic dance of life-death-rebirth. Shiva, whose name means “benevolent” or “favorable,” is a pre-Aryan god. His consort is Parvati, who is also Sita, Uma, and Durga.
We are not cultural pirates and we don’t want to steal the gods and practices of other faiths. But we can learn from them. Go outside today and gaze at what the dance of the seasons looks like where you live. Go outside again tonight and look up into the sky and imagine the dances of the planets and stars.
Now go inside where it’s warm and cast a circle and begin your own dance. Even if you can’t “really” dance, move in ways that remind you of Shiva’s cosmic dance and its place in your life. Dance for your life.
Cyber Monday Prosperity Spell
By Thuri Calafia
With Spending Too Much Se ason well under way at this point, some of us may wish to curb our enthusiasm a bit in order to keep a roof over our heads!
For this spell, you’ll need your wallet and some prosperity herbs (such as almond or patchouli) combined with some herbs of protection (such as bay leaves or mint). Mint is especially good for this spell, as it has properties of both prosperity and protection. You’ll also need to inscribe and anoint a green candle by carving symbols and words into it with a small blade or wooden pick and dressing it with a simple oil, such as olive or a scented oil (such as patchouli). Then sprinkle your altar with some coins and bills.
Breathe deeply and visualize yourself finishing any holiday shopping you need to do, smiling broadly because you’ve hit sales and found bargains so that you’ve been able to hold on to a lot of your hard-earned money. Light the candle safely and sprinkle the money with the herbs. Say:
The gods reward my generosity in
kind. I have more than enough.
Put the money and herbs in your wallet, and extinguish the candle. Whenever you spend this holiday season, repeat these words again and again to yourself.
Bring the Light Spell
By Laura Tempest Zakroff
As the nights get longer, it’s important to remember the light and bring it into your home. Acquire a tall white pillar candle. If it’s one that is already in glass, grab a marker to write on the glass with. If it’s an all-wax candle, find a safe holder for it, and you can write directly into the wax, using a toothpick or ballpoint pen.
Make six asterisks (*) around the sides of the candle, plus one large asterisk across the top, with the wick at the center. Light the candle (and remake the top asterisk as necessary), saying:
Light of sun and twinkle of star,
Make your way here from afar.
Into this home, bring your light,
Holding back the dark of night.
Healing Remedies with Sea Salt
Salt is one of the easiest most affective remedies on the planet! Sea salt, a salt obtained by evaporating seawater, is used in cooking and cosmetics. Its mineral content gives it a different taste from table salt, which is usually sodium chloride refined from mined rock salt (halite), or refined from sea salt. Table salt may contain anti- caking agents and additives such as the dietary supplement iodides. Areas that produce specialized sea salt include the Cayman Islands, France, Ireland, Sicily and Apulia in Italy, and Maine and Cape Cod in the United States.
Salt is essential for life and you cannot live without it. There are enormous differences between the standard, refined table and cooking salt and healthy natural salt. The differences can have a major impact on your health.
Halite crystal (sodium chloride) occurs in seawater, along with other salts of sodium, calcium, magnesium, and other light metals. When seawater evaporates in a closed lagoon, halite and other minerals precipitate out and sink to the bottom as crystals. In this way, great beds of rock salt have been formed. Pure halite is colorless, though it is often colored by impurities. It is soft and breaks (cleaves) into cubes. Halite crystallizes in the isometric (also called cubic) crystal system and when it forms crystals, it generally forms cubes. Its most noticeable and important physical feature is that halite is readily soluble in water. This allows halite to be useful in such varied applications as cooking, food preservation, and chemical production.
Salt can be mined from rock salt either by traditional mining practices using heavy equipment underground, or by pumping hot water in pipes into the salt deposit, where the hot water dissolves the halite. The resulting salt water is then pumped to surface and evaporated to yield salt. This is called “solution mining”. In some modern dry salt lakes, a crust of halite can be recovered by simply scraping the salt crust off the lake bottom with bulldozers or scrapers. Ancient rock salt is mined in Michigan, New York, Kansas, and other states. Solution mining is used to recover salt from underground “salt domes” in Louisiana and Texas. Recovery of salt from dry lakes takes place in the deserts of California, Nevada, and Utah.
Table salt is actually 97.5% sodium chloride and 2.5% chemicals such as moisture absorbents, and iodine. Dried at over 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit, the excessive heat alters the natural chemical structure of the salt causing the potential for many health problems in your body. Table salt is not recommended in your healing arsenal.
Dead Sea Salt
The mineral content of the Dead Sea is significantly different from that of ocean water, consisting of approximately 53% magnesium chloride, 37% potassium chloride and 8% sodium chloride (common salt) with the remainder comprised of various trace elements. The concentration of sulfate, SO42-, ions is very low, and the bromide ion concentration is the highest of all waters on Earth. Chlorides neutralize most of the calcium ions in the Dead Sea and its surroundings. While in other seas sodium chloride is 97% of the salts, in the Dead Sea the quantity of NaCl is only 12-18%. Comparison between the chemical composition of the Dead Sea to other lakes and oceans show that the salt concentration in the Dead Sea is 31.5% (the salinity fluctuates somewhat). Because of its unusually high concentration of salt, anyone can easily float in the Dead Sea because of natural buoy ancy as a result of the higher density of the water.
Celtic Sea Salt
This salt is unparalleled in the world. Less than 1% of the world’s salt harvest has the quality of Celtic Sea Salt. Pure, moist, biologically active, and free from any chemicals or additives, this is considered “living sea salt”. Celts discovered a way to harvest salt from the ocean using the sun, the wind, and shallow clay ponds. Pristine ocean channels spiral water into the concentrating ponds. The live flowing mixture is carefully stirred by the salt farmer, and dazzling crystals form and are gathered by hand. The ionizing action of the clay, combined with the artisan’s skillful method, passed down through generations, enlivens the unique, bioavailable array of trace elements that exist in a perfectly balanced matrix.
This salt is a rich source of magnesium. Magnesium helps to regulate the activity of more than 325 enzymes and performs a vital role in orchestrating many bodily functions, from muscle control and electrical impulses to energy production and the elimination of harmful toxins. Epsom Salt also delivers sulfates, which are extremely difficult to get through food but which readily absorb through the skin. Sulfates serve a wide variety of functions in the body, playing a vital role in the formation of brain tissue, joint proteins and the mucin proteins that line the walls of the digestive tract. Sulfates also stimulate the pancreas to generate digestive enzymes and are believed to help detoxify the body’s residue of medicines and environmental contaminants. Soak in a tub full of hot water with a few cups of Epsom Salts. This is good for relaxing muscles and drawing to xins from the body. When magnesium sulfate is absorbed through the skin, such as in a bath, it draws toxins from the body, sedates the nervous system, reduces swelling, relaxes muscles, is a natural emollient, exfoliator, and much more. Soak for 15-20 minutes.
Himalayan Crystal Salt
Himalayan Crystal Salt is salt in its native form, with all its vibrational energy intact and it helps your body return to a state of balance. Not having balanced electrolytes shifts your body out of homeostasis – the balance of chemicals that is conducive to the body’s function. The renowned Frezenius Institute in Europe analyzed the Himalayan Crystal Salt and proved that it has an amazing array of important trace minerals and elements including potassium, calcium and magnesium that help your body achieve balance by restoring fluids and replenishing your supply of electrolytes whenever you sweat heavily.
The healing abilities of salt water are profound and well documented. Salt water is an astringent and speeds wound healing. Floating in sea water is an extreme release of tension and stress of the day. Allow yourself to float weightlessly in the water. You deserve it.
Deep breathing of ocean air helps us to relax and let go. The faint smell of salt in the air can take us to a place of pure joy. Sea air has a certain aliveness found no where else. This deep breathing can help release tension and the problems associated with it.
Thalassotherapy (from the Greek word thalassos, meaning “sea”) is the medical use of seawater. The properties of seawater are believed to have beneficial effects upon the pores of the skin. Thalassotherapy was developed in seaside towns in France during the 19th century. Trace elements of magnesium, potassium, calcium sulphates and sodium, found in seawater, are believed to be absorbed through the skin. The therapy is applied in various forms, as either showers of warmed seawater, application of marine mud or of algae paste, or the inhalation of sea fog. Spas make hot seawater and provide mud- and seaweed wrapping services available.
Healing Salt Remedies
Chronic sinusitis refers to inflammation of the sinuses that continues for weeks, months, or even years. Allergies are the most common cause of chronic sinusitis. Chronic sinusitis can persist even after antibiotics are given. It’s the most frequently reported chronic disease.
Acute sinusitis occurs when bacteria invade the sinus cavities and impair proper drainage of mucus from the sinuses to the nose. Chronic inflammation of the nasal passages or rhinitis also can lead to sinusitis. Allergic rhinitis or hay fever is the most common cause of chronic sinusitis and is a frequent cause of acute sinusitis.
The common cold is the most prevalent predisposing factor to sinusitis. Acute sinusitis typically causes symptoms of nasal congestion and a thick yellow or green discharge. Other symptoms include tenderness and pain over the sinuses, frontal headaches, and sometimes chills, fever, and pressure in the area of the sinuses.
Entering bacteria gets trapped and filtered out by mucus and minute nasal hairs called cilia. This air-flow system can sometimes slow down when something impedes the cilia, if a cold clogs the sinus openings, or if an allergen swells the sinus linings. Then air gets trapped, pressure builds, the mucus stagnates, and bacteria breed. Infection sets in and you have sinusitis. When you get clogged up, you may end up with a permanent thickening of the sinus membranes and chronic congestion.
Flush out nasal secretions. Mix 1 teaspoon of non-iodized salt or sea salt with 2 cups of warm water and a pinch of baking soda. Pour it into a shot glass, tilt your head back, close one nostril with your thumb, and sniff the solution with the open nostril. Then blow your nose gently. Repeat on the other side.
An Ayurvedic solution, similar to this is done in the same manner with a Neti Pot. It looks similar to a tea pot, but with a longer, narrower spout for the nostrils. These can be found in most health food stores.
A cup or handful of water in your hand or neti pot is a wonderful cleansing therapy. Slowly inhale the salt water into your nose to cleanse your sinus and open up the air passages.. Over the counter nasal washes (not nasal sprays) are available. The simplest form is a non iodized salt water spray.
The tissues in the mouth can benefit greatly from sea salt.
For bleeding gums – make a paste of 1 tsp.. baking soda to 1/2 tsp. sea salt…brush with this mixture 3 times per day instead of the toothpaste. You can also add a few drops of tea tree oil.
Gargle with warm salt water a few times a day to relieve a sore throat, mouth sores or canker sores.

Negative Energy and Sea Salt
Cleansing with sea salt is a safe and effective way to clear any space of negative energy. Sea salt is obtained by evaporating seawater. Salt occurs naturally in many parts of the world as the mineral halite and as mixed evaporates in salt lakes. Underground salt deposits are found in both bedded sedimentary layers and domal deposits.
Energy in itself, is the vital source, which radiates from everything and everyone around us. When we are ill, emotionally upset, angered or imbalanced, our moods and of course, our energy is altered. Coming in contact with energy that is negative can often be sensed, even felt. The result is often a feeling of uneasiness, confusion or an opposed feeling to our current state of mind.
Cleansing with sea salt or rock salt is preferred over iodized, processed table salt..
Cleansing a room with salt can be done by placing salt in small bowls and placing them in the 4 corners for 24 hours. Take two teaspoons of sea salt and dissolve it into some warm water. Pour it into a mister or spray bottle and spray it where ever you need cleansing.
Cleansing yourself of negative vibs can be done by misting yourself for an overall clearing. Draw a bath. As the hot water is filling the tube, add two or more tablespoons of sea salt to the running water and stir it so it dissolves in the tube. Relax in your bath for 15-20 minutes.
Cleansing your crystals can be done by placing a teaspoon of sea salt into a bowl of luke warm water. Make sure the salt is dissolved, then place your crystals in the water for twenty four hours.
Adding herbs or essential oils to sea salt can give an added bonus to cleansing. Herbs such as lavender, sandalwood, tea tree, thyme, rosemary are all good compliments. When using herbs, place them in the salt and shake the salt in a closed container. This bruises the herbs and allows its essential oils to incorporate into the salt matrix. When using essential oils, add a few drops to salt and then stir or shake the salt in order to mix them well.

The Patron Saint of Cats
by Joe Longo
How did a nun from the Early Middle Ages become the patron saint of cats, though the Catholic Church has never made that official? But that is how she is known today.
Saint Gertrude lived between 628 and 659 in Nivelles, Belgium. She was born on the 17 of March (the same date that St. Patrick is celebrated) into family of wealth and nobility. She knew at an early age what she wanted from life. When she was ten she was asked by her nobleman father and the king to marry a certain noblemen. In those days marriage between families of nobility were common, since those marriages increased power and wealth. She, however, adamantly refused and said, ”I would take Christ alone as my bridegroom.” When her father died her mother feared that Gertude, because of her wealth and beauty, would be kidnapped. So she started an abbey and Gertude became a devout nun. When her mother died Gertrude became the abbess. She, however, gave the administration of the abbey to other nuns. Her behavior then became peculiar. She isolated herself in the abby, wore a hair shirt, fasted, prayed constantly and became sickly. Her ascetic lifestyle, which included long periods without food or sleep, took a toll on her health. She died at 33, the age that Christ died. One writer wrote that her habits became peculiar like those of a cat.
Saint Gertrude had a dream about travelers, and her abby became known for its hospitality. Because of her reputation, Gertrude became the patron saint of travelers and the recently dead (who were also travelers on a journey) as well as gardeners and the mentally ill.
At one time, Gertrude’s abbey had a rodent problem, and she was successful at killing them. It was said that the water from her abbey’s well would chase away rats and mice. Also, cats were welcome inhabitants in abbeys and monasteries during the Early Middle Ages. They must have also helped with the rodent problem.
As the centuries wore on, she became associated with rodents. She was known to pray for the souls in purgatory, and medieval artists often portrayed the lost souls as mice. Illuminations appeared with rats at her feet or climbing up her garments.
The connection between Gertrude and rodents became a popular belief through Europe, and silver or gold statues of mice were left at a shrine to her in Cologne as late as 1822. By then, she had become the saint one asked to intercede in the case of a rodent infestation. That, one can assume, is where her association with cats developed, since cats are a predators of rodents.
It is hard to date when Saint Gertrude became known as the guardian saint of cats. During the Middle Ages, it seems that images of her began to appear with cats. But the only images I could find of her pictured with cats are contemporary renderings of illuminations. There are plenty of images from the Middle Ages of her with rodents. However, the title of Gertrude as patron of cats seems to date, oddly, from the 1980s. The first major English-language publication presenting her as patron of cats is in a 1981 catalogue published by the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Historically, cats were not always treated benevolently by the Catholic Church. In the Late Middle Ages, they were often associated with Paganism and Witchcraft. Some people saw cats as the servants of the devil. In the 13th century, Pope Gregory IX issued a church document that proclaimed that black cats are an incarnation of Satan. He then issued a death warrant for every black cat in Christendom. For some reason, this death sentence was spread to almost all cats, and the cat population significantly declined.
Some attribute the killing of cats to be the cause of the Black Plague. Actually, the killing of so many cats likely contributed to the spread of the plague, as the rodents carrying them flourished without their natural enemy hunting them.
The Black Plague is believed to have been the result of an infectious fever caused by the bacterium Yersinia pestis. The disease was likely transmitted from rodents to humans by the bite of infected fleas.
Cat massacres are not at all uncommon in history. Many reasons have been given for pogroms against cats, such as religion, superstition, concerns over public health, politics. However, in the late Middle Ages with fewer cats roaming Europe and Asia, the more rats there were. More rats, meant more carriers of the disease, which could be why so many people died from the plague. If this is true, then it is quite possible that Pope Gregory IX’s demonization of cats is one of the causes that allowed the black death to spread so quickly throughout Europe and Asia.
But history is not all bad news for cats. They were considered sacred animals in ancient Egypt. Pharaohs highly respected their feline companions, who were also used as religious symbols for grace, poise, wisdom, strength, and fertility. Cats are featured in ancient hieroglyphics and Egyptian structures. Egyptians had domestic cats. The Greeks and Romans used cats to keep the vermin population down. Early Christian used cats for the same purpose.
In conclusion when you tuck your kitties in at night, say a prayer to Saint Gertrude of Nivelles, the patron saint of cats.

When we spend all of our time complaining, we are in essence in constant destroy mode rather than building mode.
We all know someone who has elevated the process of complaining to a high art. Sometimes funny, sometimes exhausting, these people have the ability to find a problem just about anywhere. In its more evolved form, complaining is simply the ability to see what’s not working, in one’s own life or in the external world, and it can be quite useful if followed to its natural conclusion — finding a solution and applying it. However, many of us don’t get that far, and we find that complaining has become an end in itself. In small doses, this is not a big problem, but if complaining has become a huge part of our identities, it may be time to take a good look at how we are spending our energy.
Complaining is a person’s way of acknowledging that they are not happy with the way things are. In a metaphorical way, when we complain or criticize, we are tearing down an undesirable structure in order to make room for something new. But if all we do is tear down, never bothering to summon the creative energy required to create something new, we are not fulfilling the process. In fact, we are at risk for becoming a stagnant and destructive force in our own lives and in the lives of the people we love. Another issue with complaining is that we sometimes tend to focus on other people, whom we can’t change, as a way of deflecting attention from the one person we can change — ourselves. So transforming complaining into something useful is a twofold process that begins with turning our critical eye to look at things we can actually do something about, and then taking positive action.
When we find ourselves complaining, the last thing we need to do is get down on ourselves. Instead, we can begin by noticing that we are in the mode of wanting to make some changes. But rather than lashing out at somebody or an organization, we can look for an appropriate place to channel this energy — not our neighbor’s house, but possibly parts of our own. Finally, we can ask ourselves the positive question of what we would like to create in the place of whatever it is we want to tear down. When we do this, we channel a negative habit into a creative process, thus using our energy to change the world around us in a positive way.
Gilberto and the Red Dress
by Stephen Halpert
It was a moonlit night. The sound of the crashing falls made Gilberto’s head spin. Gilberto and Maria sat together in a secluded booth in the hotel’s dimly lit dining room. She dazzled him. He felt like he was on a date with a movie star, but they were married. How could this be, he wondered.
Maria took a sip of her beer. She didn’t usually drink but this was a celebration. She gave Gilberto a fetching grin. “We do have an amazing chemistry, and with your help we’ll keep it alive.”
He nodded. “I never saw my parents touch each another. But when he was with his buddies, he talked a different game about him and mama.”
She smiled and shrugged. “Parents can be so confusing. They show us love by trying to make us into replicas of themselves.”
Gilberto shook his head. “I always found women confusing, starting with my mom.”
Maria smiled. “Do you find me confusing”?
Gilberto nodded. “I do feel confused sometimes.”
“We’re equals,” she grinned.” We walk the path together, and we can encounter our differences when they pop up.” She smiled at him, took his hand and squeezed it. “And tomorrow we’ll go on the cruise. We’ll get so close to the Falls I can almost touch them.”
The thought of being in a boat, even on calm waters made Gilberto’s stomach churn. “You really want to do that?”
“Oh yes,” she said. “I’ve wanted to ever since I was little. And before we leave, we must buy Joey some postcards.”
Gilberto’s heart sank. “I’ll sit on the boat and hope I don’t lose my breakfast.”
Maria looked at him and smiled. “It will be just fine, don’t worry.”
He sipped his beer. “Tomorrow belongs to us, our last day in Paradise. Then we go home. That’s what makes me nervous.”
“Don’t let it darling I’m the one having a baby.”
“That’s nice but still.”
That is nice,” Her voice rose slightly. “What are you worried about?”
Gilberto rubbed his head and sighed. He felt slightly dizzy. That last beer had boggled his mind. “Sometimes I think you’re too good to be true. And you’ll just disappear in a puff of smoke.”
She laughed. “Why would I do that?” She looked at him with such love in her eyes.
Maybe it was the beer, but he just had to say it. “I know you won’t like it but I want to name our son Zorro.”
She scrunched up her face and shook her head. “Oh come on, Gilberto. You can’t mean that. Imagine growing up with a name like that. If you want, get a black cat and call him Zorro.”
“I don’t want a cat.” He said indignantly. “Cats are only out for themselves.”
“Like a lot of people, I guess.” She took another tiny sip of her beer.
He looked at her and frowned. “Zorro was always my hero. He’s like Robin Hood, a folk hero for my people.”
“No, it’s my child too. Besides, I have naming rights. You get pregnant, you get naming rights.”
He stared at her. “I can’t get pregnant!”
She laughed. “Are you ever going to compliment me on how I look?” She stood up and twirled around so he could fully appreciate the magic of her red dress.
Gilberto gulped. “It doesn’t show anything, but it’s so incredibly sexy.”‘
“That’s the style,” she smiled and sat down.
“Whatever,” he grinned. “It works.” He put his hand on her shoulder. “I want to kiss you.”
She turned toward him, her hands pulling him closer. Their long kiss echoed in his body like the crashing sounds of the Falls.
They pulled apart and giggled. “That dress makes me hungry for you,” he said
She chuckled. “That doesn’t take much. You’d come after me in boots and a winter coat.”
She took another delicate sip of her beer. “And I don’t give a fig for makeup or perfume.”
He nodded. “I’m glad. Women like Lola see their makeup as their second skin.”
The waiter brought their dinners. Gilberto had lobster, Maria, a fresh crabmeat salad, and another beer for Gilberto. “Drink up,” he said. “You haven’t even finished one and I’m finishing my third.”
“So I’ll be more pliant and receptive?” she grinned. She shook her head. “I’m careful for the baby.” She kissed him and went back to her crabmeat.
“As long as I always know you’ll be here for me. That’s the bottom line.”
“Endlessly,” she promised.
His laughed, he wanted to drink all of her deep into himself, so he would always know that she was there for him.
“Make a wish,” she giggled. “Make a wish and keep it to yourself and we’ll see later if it comes true.”
“I like that,” he laughed. He put down his glass. A waiter appeared and brought him another.
“Good crabmeat,” she smiled. “Thanks for suggesting I order it.”
He smiled and devoured a lobster claw.
“I think I’d like someone to help with the baby. Not for long, maybe just a few months.”
“A caregiver for baby Zorro?”
“Don’t go there or I’ll make you sleep on the couch.”
“Zorro’s poster hangs in Joey’s room.”
“Forget it,” she giggled. “No way, José.”
“I suppose you’ll want a more traditional name.”
“Actually, I was thinking of Gilberto Jr,’ Gilberto Edwardo Santiago. “
Hearing that caught him off guard. He nodded and smiled. “Gilberto Jr.” He looked thoughtful. “Maybe with Zorro as his middle name.”
She ignored his suggestion, “I was thinking of Edwardo for his middle name, after my farther.”
“Gilberto Edwardo, sounds like an all-star soccer player to me.”
Maria smiled slyly. “Maybe she’d be a great artist and gain fame painting or doing something like needlepoint or embroidery.”
His fork fell from his hand. This was definitely a new thought he didn’t like. “My son will never do embroidery.”
“But your daughter might. You have no idea who is growing inside me.” She took a roll and dabbed on butter. “So, from the time she’s walking you’ll have her kicking a soccer ball. Women play soccer too you know.” She reached across and took his hand. “Gilberto, expectations can get in the way.”
“Of everything,” she smiled. “For instance, you push soccer, and in rebellion he might turn to knitting.”
He looked so pained just then she relented. “I’ll let you out of your misery,” she said softly. “But assumptions can really get in the way of someone’s natural progress. And for instance what if he flunked out at soccer. Couldn’t kick a soccer ball to save his life.”
He swallowed his beer.
“You’re already assuming he’ll love soccer like you do. I just don’t want to see you disappointed.”
He smiled. “So we’ll teach him soccer and knitting.”
She grinned. “Oh Gilberto, I hope whatever either chooses you’ll love them for who they are.”
He looked at her searchingly. “You mean just let it go, no expectations?”
She nodded. “That’s possible, but it shouldn’t matter. We both fought our parents for our freedom. Our child has the right to choose for him or herself and doesn’t have to rebel against us in the process.”

Georgia Nichols Weekly Horoscope: Sunday, December 06, 2020
For the last 200 years, Jupiter and Saturn have lined up in Earth signs; which describes society’s values for the last two centuries. Wealth is about real estate, acquisition, buildings, land and manufacturing. This “Earth” world has a top-down rulership and a few hold the resources of many. In our lifetime, this is all we’ve ever known. “The one with the most toys wins.” Now we’re starting to see things aren’t working. This is because we’re at the cusp of a new 200-year cycle, which will be AIR, which is egalitarian. This will not be a top-down leadership. Air is about universal rights. Shared education, Medicare and a universal income. There will be greater use of technology, air waves, and society will interact via virtual realities like holograms. Looks like we’re moving into a Star Trek world! Resistance is futile. Set phasers to stun.

Beware a tendency to idealize or expect the best in others, when it comes to financial negotiations. Obviously, one does expect honest dealings. Nevertheless, be aware of the potential for something that is unrealistic, which is based on either deceit or poor judgment. Hmmm.
Gemini (May 21-June 20)
The Sun is still opposite your sign, which means you need more sleep than usual. This also means your focus on partners and close friends is particularly useful because you more objectivity to see how you deal with others. (The mirror never lies.) Because you’re thinking a lot about your past, this is a good time to talk to a counsellor or a friend to sort things out. Have you noticed how much you appreciate your daily surroundings? And how much others care for you? Incidentally, many of you can make money from your words right now.

You have a busy To Do schedule full of errands, appointments, possible short trips as well as increased reading, studying and writing. This week you’re keen to communicate to others more than normal, which is not unusual for you because you’re the most social sign in the zodiac. You need to interact with others! This is a good week to reach out and let others know what you think. You can do this by mail, by phone or by Zoom. You have the ability to attract money to you this week. In turn, you will likely shop for beautiful things for yourself and loved ones. Your ongoing efforts to improve where you live continue, and this pleases you.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)
You have a fine, penetrating mind and this week, your thoughts are on money and your values. You want to know where you’re headed and how to handle what you already have, which is practical and realistic. Meanwhile, something that you own might please you and you want to show it off. Possibly, you will have to defend your values this week, which is something you’re always ready to do. (Fear not, with Venus in your sign, you’ll be diplomatic and charming.) Incidentally, this is another excellent week to buy wardrobe goodies. Isn’t it frustrating when you have great fashions sense but no money to prove it?
Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)
Ah ha! Another powerful week because the Sun is in your sign, which makes you energetic, proactive and competitive! (Keep this in mind if you are in a partnership because you don’t want to be too pushy. You can be right or you can be in the relationship.) This is also why working with others might be a tad challenging but hey – this only happens you once a year for four weeks. Obviously, you have a great need to express yourself! And it’s a valid need! Secret love affairs might be happening for some of you. You might also be called upon to take care of a loved one. You will demonstrate grace under pressure.
Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)
You’re still in limbo because your year is ending but your new year has not yet begun. Nevertheless, it’s a good week to plan for what you want in your year ahead. (You like to meet your future in a prepared way.) You know that goals will make future decision-making easier – no question. Plus, they give you better control over your future and a clearer focus on what is important. This is a good week to enjoy the company of others by Zoom or in any way that you can because you feel very loving and affectionate to friends and eager for some involvement with groups. What good can you do today?
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)
A stimulating, friendly week! Enjoy interacting with friends and groups. Friendships are important to you and this week they are especially important. Examine your friendships to see how well they fulfil your needs – or not. Are these your people? Is your life enriched by knowing them? Do they inspire and encourage you or do they bring you down? With only 24 hours in a day, you can’t afford to spend time with emotional vampires. Life is too short and too precious! Meanwhile, this is the perfect time to impress bosses, teachers and parents. (Actually, you make such an excellent impression, a romance with someone in power might begin.)
Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)
This is another week where you look fantastic in the eyes of bosses, parents and teachers, which means it’s the perfect time you to make your pitch and advance your agenda. After all, timing is everything. (Take advantage of this blessing, which lasts for only one month each year.) Ask for that raise. Ask for that promotion. Ask for what you want! However, check the Moon Alert in my daily column before doing so. Quite likely, you cannot travel, which is what you would love to do; however, you might be attracted to someone new who is strange or different from you. An exotic appeal! Perhaps a little excitement?
Weekly Horoscopes Beginning Sunday, 06 December 2020
If you`re born within a cusp period (16 to 26 of any month); you`re advised to read horoscopes of both signs covered by that period. You`re in the border; you may have influences from houses within those signs..
Outlines are longer versions; consists of every possible detail of every day and based on three parts of each sign: 1st, 2nd & 3rd Decan; that is, any of three divisions of 10° within a sign of the zodiac. Even if you know or don`t know your Decan; I recommend, please read all three Decan.
Personal theme: I am!!
Fire & cardinal sign: March 21 — April 19
Your horoscope for this week:
As you`ve probably noticed, while luck is appearing, and in all sorts of ways, things don`t make sense. True, your instincts are telling you that if you can be patient until midmonth, it will all become clear. The problem? You`re eager to take action now. Do, but focus on other matters, perhaps giving a hand to those who`d benefit from your support. You`ll be glad you did.
A task you had been dreading will either be less bothersome than you had expected or easier to handle because of the help that comes your way. A friend or colleague may even offer to take care of it for you. Since this offer will be sincere, you should not question it. Accept a generous gesture. Make a point of getting in touch with friends you haven`t seen for ages. Once you start telling you will be surprised by how much they have missed your company.
The solar eclipse isn`t until Monday 14th. With that special New Moon, comes a fresh chapter. This week, with the Earth`s magnetic field altered, you could break out of a rut (if that`s what you want). A key date seems to be mid-week as the Moon crosses zero declination. This coincides with the Moon`s passage through your opposite sign. It`s entirely possible if you`re in a business partnership, that your partner will change tack. Discomforted as you might be temporarily, this will surely afford opportunity. There is likely so much to talk about. In particular, both legal matters and contact with those who live and work far away will surely require a fresh strategy to be implemented after the Solar Eclipse. For now, the thirst to learn more could astound others. Indeed, your growing expertise and mastery in one area might even be `mentioned in dispatches`.
Personal theme: I have!!
Earth & fixed sign: April 20 — May 20
Your horoscope for this week:
During recent discussions, you pointed out certain ideas you`ve been working on can be turned into action. However, others insist that would be rushing things and, irritatingly, they`re in charge. Tempting as it is to challenge or even ignore them, instead, busy yourself with other matters, mostly those you`ve been putting off until these are dealt with. This isn`t just timely, it`s incredibly wise, as you`ll soon discover.
You might reject changes under discussion. Other people are keen to make new starts. You want things to remain as they are. Friends want to alter pre-arranged plans. They find your stubbornness unnerving. Instead of objecting, go ahead and pander to their whims. A young relative will be surprised by how well you seem to understand what they are going through. Little do they know you`ve been through similar experiences. Your advice will mean a lot to them.
You are `right`, there probably is much going on in the background. Until next Monday`s Solar Eclipse on 14th, a sense of shifting sands could leave you feeling both discomforted and excited. Your imagination could easily go into overdrive. In working partnership, however, you could create a plan – most likely Internet-related, – that would advance one of your enterprises considerably. Anticipate being super busy. Know too, that this is just the overture to the alignment of Jupiter and Saturn at the apex of your solar chart on December 21; and yes, it`s probable that `your star is in the ascendancy`. Though of course much depends on your personal chart, it does appear that you are seeking a bigger window on the world and that others are now aware of your considerable talents and growing confidence in making commercial use of talent and expertise. You might even find a backer!
Personal theme: I think!!
Air sign: May 21 — June 20
Your horoscope for this week:
True, the powerful Gemini eclipsed Full Moon was on 30 November. However, you`re still untangling the resulting confusion. The good news? You`re finally recognising seemingly worrying events as breakthroughs, although in disguise. Logically, fast action would be wise. However, with a second equally powerful eclipse, on the 14th, triggering further shakeups, everybody`s time is better spent exploring sudden and exciting developments. Decisions can wait.
Ease of communication will help if you are trying to say something that makes you feel awkward or embarrassed. Rather than trying to dress up your words with lots of fancy phrases, state your cause simply. Where you will need to tread with extra care is at work. You don`t want to get anyone`s back up. So, when you`re with a senior colleague, especially if you disagree with their views, keep your thoughts to yourself.
Next Monday`s (14th), Solar Eclipse is in your opposite sign. You may remember that the Lunar was in your sign on November 30th. We are now in that curious period between eclipses and yes, a sense of a fresh start coming should be apparent. It helps that the Sun makes a fabulous aspect to Mars and that the Moon, moving over the risk and speculation area of your solar chart, also crosses zero declination. This really is the moment for clearing space and moving to new and likely higher ground. You won`t be the only sign with an increased thirst for knowledge; but yes, there may be legal matters or contracts to attend to. There is also the possibility of both property – and perhaps overseas affairs – requiring extra attention. The positive news, however, is that that the sense of moving on and leaving a difficult year behind will surely be energising.
Personal theme: I feel!!
Water & cardinal sign: June 21 — July 22
Your horoscope for this week:
Recently, you`ve been under pressure to take decisive action in a range of situations; but, equally, you`ve been increasingly unsure about your own plans and priorities. The trick is to make tentative arrangements, sometimes solo but as often with others. These will last until the pivotal Cancer Full Moon, on 30 December, when changes in circumstances and your feelings bring instant, yet surprisingly powerful, clarity.
You have a lot on your mind and because of this, you will want to keep company to a minimum. Some quiet thinking will give you a new purpose in life and a clear idea of how you can use your skills in the future. Your next step is to make others recognise you do mean business. It could be worth it to rearrange a few items on your schedule later in the week to re-connect with some old friends or join new friends in their plans.
The lunar eclipse on November 30 accented an area of your solar chart associated with large institutions, hospitals etc, and the Solar Eclipse due on Monday 14th puts a spotlight on day-to-day working affairs. Between the two events, and you could experience more than the usual number of highs and lows. On the positive side, your career might show signs of life that you`ve hoped for eclipse many months. Balancing this with family demands and yes, perhaps health issues, will likely not be easy. Yet usual behavioural patterns could yet be adjusted with ease. It`s arguably important to hold thought that post the Solar Eclipse your routine will be different: perhaps not as demanding, and that from the career perspective, you could yet make better use of your considerable talents. In this, you may have reason to show gratitude to Aries, Libra and Capricorn colleagues whose support is unquestionable.
Personal theme: I will!!
Fire & fixed sign: July 23 — August 22
Your horoscope for this week:
Being joyous with so much in disarray isn`t easy. The trick? Distance yourself from dramas that, in truth, aren`t yours to deal with. Then, second, join friends and loved ones in focusing on what`s working well and brings you joy. This won`t just lift your spirits; it will encourage you and others to explore yet more upbeat options. Better yet, this leads to timely breakthroughs.
A friend has been going through a difficult time. You`ve been going out of your way to show them extra kindness and understanding. Your efforts haven`t gone unnoticed and although you will not be expecting it, thanks and appreciation will come your way. The end of the week is a good time to sort out any outstanding money issues. If you`re sharing the cost of a small get together or a gift for a colleague, get such matters sorted out as soon as possible.
We are between eclipses. Though neither is in your sign, that doesn`t mean that you won`t feel the effect. Key is that during these periods, (November 30 to December 14) Earth`s magnetic field is altered. Perhaps linked to this, people have a tendency to break behavioural patterns and act out of character. In your case, the need to reach back to the past seems strong. Someone with whom you shared commercial opportunities a long time ago, could yet resurface. Their connections could now be useful. With the Sun making a fabulous aspect to Mars, and both in Fire signs next Friday, feelings of excitement and anticipating should grow. Recall that on the 21st, Jupiter and Saturn will align in your opposite sign suggesting that relationships and unions of all kinds will dominate your thinking. This week should be viewed as a time for discussion and preparation – with particular focus on how job sharing or blended expertise can work.
Personal theme: I analyse!!
Earth sign: August 23 — September 22
Your horoscope for this week:
Others are expecting you to deal with a range of unsettling events. While ordinarily, you`d tackle these with enthusiasm, you`re hesitant. This is wise.. The actual foundation on which many arrangements are based is shifting, which means changes are inevitable. The secret? Do something out of character, and organise tentative if not slap-dash arrangements. They`ll be easy, fun and could lead to thrilling new ideas.
Some new and overwhelming responsibilities are thrown in your direction. You seem to have no choice but to get on with these. Swallow any fears and just have a go. They may not be as difficult as they first appear. If you`re starting an important project which needs to be completed before Christmas, be thorough rather than giving in to the temptation to take short cuts. A loved one`s ideas will trigger a few thoughts of your own and this could lead to a special celebration.
You might recall that there was a Lunar Eclipse on November 30 accenting the apex of your solar chart. On December 14, there is a Solar Eclipse accenting its base. This suggests you might be at a turning point as regards property, family, and career; and yes, all these could be linked. As we come to the end of this turbulent and peculiar year, reviewing your position would be understandable. It may be that you need to rethink assets and talents. Perhaps these can be marketed differently. There`s also the strong likelihood by Friday, of discussing joining forces with those in a similar position. Something connected to waste management, recycling, mending and improvement generally could be much discussed. A colleague of a friend born under one of the Fire signs of Aries, Leo or Sagittarius – though not someone you could work with on a daily level, – might inspire or invest in this project.
Personal theme: I balance!!
Air & cardinal sign: September 23 — October 22
Your horoscope for this week:
While you`ve made considerable progress recently, it`s often required serious persistence. Still, looking back you`re proud; and what`s next? You`re facing similarly tricky ideas, options or offers. Explore them all, knowing that at any moment, you can walk away. That knowledge alone will make everything easier. Better yet, as arrangements progress, and you understand how to manoeuvre wisely, you`ll turn worrying arrangements into a stunning success.
A neighbour or workmate will not only ask for your advice and opinions but they will also make it clear how much they respect what you have to say. For that reason, be honest with them and speak your mind. If you`re feeling at a loose end and in need of entertainment, take a look at what`s going on in your immediate environment. An annual event may not be as large scale as usual, but it will still be enjoyable.
Though neither the Lunar Eclipse on November 30 or the approaching Solar Eclipse on December 14 is in your sign, there is little doubt that you will be affected. Between the two events, Earth`s magnetic field is altered. History suggests that these are eventful periods. Perhaps it would more Recall accurate to say that it is during these times that events are recorded. Given that this particular eclipse pair highlights the communications axis of your solar chart, it may be that it`s what`s happening with neighbours and colleagues that prompt you to break out of a rut. There is a further and high probability of you becoming involved with a publishing venture or adding your name to a petition. Presently words matter. With Mars still moving through your opposite sign, it may be someone born under either Gemini or Sagittarius who pushes for action. Without realising it, they could be nudging your career in a fresh direction. Imperative here is that you have the knowledge base required. It`s not at all impossible that between now and the next series of eclipses in May next year, that you`ll improve your qualifications.
Scorpio & Ophiuchus
Personal theme: I desire!!
Water & fixed signs: October 23 — November 21
Your horoscope for this week:
If you`re dwelling on both unsettling experiences and decisions you`ve made since early November, you could get caught in a spiral of doubt, if not anxiety. Actually, nothing`s amiss. Rather, these events are drawing you into new territory. While you sense changes are wise, as a typical Scorpio, you want proof. With so much in transition, it isn`t possible. The secret? Go with the flow.
A stroke of luck could boost your finances in some way. There`s something strange or secretive about an offer that is made to you. Although you will feel you have something to celebrate, it would be best not to tell all and sundry about your good fortune. A quiet mood that has been with you for some time will evaporate leaving you keen to catch up on local events. Someone in your immediate circle will fill you in on the gossip.
You may recall that we are between eclipses when the Earth`s magnetic field is altered. It`s not unusual for people to behave out of character during this time. This particular pair of eclipses accents the financial or ethical axis of your solar chart. So, you may find that you are questioning other people`s behaviour and yes, perhaps their apparent selfishness. Irritated as you may be, it`s important that you take care of yourself – especially in the latter half of the week. Irritation with others and perhaps, smouldering anger, could lead to an outburst that results in you harming yourself. On the positive side, you could give considerable attention to physical fitness and diet and yes, clear physical space around you once again. Remember that next Monday`s Solar Eclipse is a sophisticated New Moon promising a fresh start. This week may be all about preparing the ground.
Personal theme: I see!!
Fire sign: November 22 — December 21
Your horoscope for this week:
Not only do you thrive on change, when life`s too predictable, you`ll stir things up yourself. Yet intriguing as what`s going on at the moment may be, you`re restless; but, also, you sense something else is coming. You`re right. In fact, what`s already taken place is just a preview of the breakthroughs being triggered by the Sagittarius eclipsed New Moon on next Monday, the 14th.
Someone you meet will brag about their possessions or the amount of cash they have stashed away for a rainy day. Be careful about what you reveal about your own situation. The real reason behind their boastfulness may well be to find out what you have or don`t have. Keep your wits about you and don`t play mind games. You may have to adapt quickly to changing events and to do this you will need to spend a little time on your own to take in everything that`s going on.
The December 14 Solar Eclipse is in your sign and signals – as it is a New Moon, – the potential for a fresh start. The need for this may have been driven by alterations to the working schedules of those closest to you. Since the Lunar Eclipse on November 30, many are likely have changed course. This week, as the Sun in your sign makes a promising aspect to now direct Mars, risk assessment is essential. Though not one to pour cold water on other people`s ideas, it could fall to you to point out where risks are too great and which safety nets need to be in place. This will likely stretch your diplomatic skills to the full, – especially midweek. Finding a language that conveys optimism with realism will surely be demanding. Yet in the process, you could draw closer to someone born under one of the Air signs of Gemini, Libra or Aquarius whose ideas do have mileage but are as yet not sufficiently well thought through.
Personal theme: I use!!
Earth & cardinal sign: December 22 — January 19
Your horoscope for this week:
When you`re anxious, you tend to reorganise existing plans. Often, that works; but with your ruler Saturn and fortunate Jupiter both moving into new positions during December`s third week, you`re better off considering what should change, if not go. This isn`t about minor shifts. It`s about exchanging familiar battles for new and inspiring pursuits. Begin now. It will prepare you for this thrilling new cycle.
You have bags of energy. Don`t be surprised if you feel inspired to make some changes to your appearance. Whether it is a new hairstyle, some winter outfits or starting a diet is immaterial. What`s important is that these outward improvements will all go to highlight the way you feel so good in yourself. Discuss your feelings. If you can say what you are thinking and say it from the bottom of your heart, this will reduce anxiety and increase the pleasure you get from your relationships.
In this curious period between the Lunar Eclipse (November 30) and Solar on December 14, you may be aware of those close to you altering direction and reframing aims and objectives. You might reasonably wonder why they didn`t do this much earlier; and yes, you could be hugely irritated at one level. Yet it`s as likely that you`ll be excited about a proposal or project that would involve working with those who are extremely demanding but who are also deemed to be working at the cutting edge. Don`t underestimate the experiences you`ve acquired as Saturn has been moving through your sign. Though the weight of responsibility has surely at times been great, you`ve likely now earned much respect. Though not necessarily seeking a leadership role, it may be that others – notably perhaps either working in high-tech or born under Aquarius, – realise your value and want you as a key member of their team.
Personal theme: I know!!
Air & fixed sign: January 20 — February 18
Your horoscope for this week:
Some say you`ve been stubbornly resisting pressing changes; but, actually, you`ve been unsure what to do first. You`re right to wait, at least when it comes to what`s next. What you can do, however, is let go of certain familiar but increasingly burdensome, if not outdated, arrangements. A few remain out of habit, but others make you feel secure. Still, they too will have to go.
Someone close will have one last attempt to persuade you into making an expensive purchase. You feel they are being far too extravagant in their spending and this is where your stubborn streak will serve you well. Stick to your guns. Good advice will come your way from an older relative or in-law. Someone who is practical and careful will help you tackle a difficult job in a methodical way. You will be grateful for their assistance.
The Eclipse on Monday 14th is, of course, a special New Moon. Just a week later, Jupiter and Saturn align in your sign. This week should be viewed as a time of transition. Even if you can`t see the way forward clearly as yet, – and much depends on your personal chart, it`s arguably important that you clear up the past. make a list of those friends and colleagues with whom you want to maintain good relations. In fact, this is a good time to start a new network diary and address book. Note how many of these contacts have recently changed position. They may now be working in new areas altogether. There`s also the high probability of you incubating a commercial idea that can`t really develop until after your birthday, but which requires much research. Doing this in partnership could be fun and bring you into contact with someone fascinated with data and able to make figures sing.
Personal theme: I believe!!
Water sign: February 19 — March 20
Your horoscope for this week:
Tempting as it is to trust the very appealing ideas or offers in the air, you`re right to worry they`re too good to be true. While, theoretically, these will work wonderfully, you`ll be contending with seriously tricky matters, and they`re somehow related. The trick? It`s to be both through and wary in a way you dislike, but will soon recognise isn`t just wise, it`s essential.
Keep business, friendship and romantic affairs completely separate to avoid confusion. If you`re longing for the opportunity to experience something new your prayers could be answered before the year is through. You shouldn`t have any reason to complain about being bored or that you`re left with time on your hands. If you`re able to lend a helping hand to someone who isn`t feeling very efficient or capable, be sure to do so. Your helpfulness will be appreciated.
The approaching solar eclipse on December 14 accents the apex of your solar chart. This special New Moon suggests a revision to your aims and objectives with new goals identified. The process of choosing which option or opportunity to explore likely began at the Lunar Eclipse on November 30. This week, risk assessment is required. Before you branch out in a new direction, you need to know more. There may be administrative hurdles to identify. Though true, you might not make a full move until closer to your birthday in 2021, the process surely begins now. Domestic matters too will likely demand much attention. Though this would be normal in December of any year, it may now be that alteration needs to be made to ensure that when you do move on to fresh career path, that everything is ordered and well-constructed to smooth your path.
