Light A Candle Today!
In many different traditions lighting a candle is a sacred action. It expresses more than words can express. It has to do with gratefulness. From time immemorial, people have lit candles in sacred places. You may want to begin or end your day by the sacred ritual of lighting a candle on this gratefulness. Or you may want to light a birthday candle for a friend. One single guideline is all you need: Slow down and do it with full attention.

BHC Newsletter Reta
July 27, 2020 – August 2, 2020
The last week of July is cram-packed with cosmic energy. You may want to print this out and put it on your bathroom mirror. On Monday, Jupiter forms a nice sextile to Neptune in Pisces. and is the ray of sunshine in a month full of storm clouds. Sadly it’s short lived. Later in the day, Venus will square Neptune, and once again Mercury will square Mars. Relationships will be in the crosshairs and difficulties could occur if you feel you are not getting your emotional needs met. Your frustrations could lead to arguments, so be careful of what you say.
On Thursday, Mercury reactivates the Jupiter sextile Neptune. Despite difficulties, frustrations, and obstacles created by the pandemic, you will begin to have more of a positive outlook on the future. All things eventually come to an end, and that includes plagues. Additionally, you will find yourself more sympathetic to the emotional needs of others, and more likely to offer your support. This aspect cluster encourages us to give the gift of kindness.
The weekend is the most frustrating part of the week with two challenging aspects. First up is Mercury opposed Pluto. Avoid getting involved in intellectual battles with others because it could permanently damage your relationship if it gets out of control. It would be best to avoid controversial or political discussions while this aspect is active, and since we are knee-deep in the political season, don’t take the bait. Secondly, the Sun squares disruptive Uranus in Taurus. Unresolved difficulties from late April/early May could resurface. Prepare yourself by thinking back on what was going on in April and May. Expect the unexpected and sudden changes could easily occur. Also, accidents can easily happen so be on guard.
Coventry Candles to support you this week are, Blessed Herbal Heart, Emotional Balance, and Protection, Hoo Doo Road Opener.
Plan + action =magic
Work the plan…
Work the plan and trust the process. We will be riding the rollercoaster ride of retrogrades, eclipses, and cultural disruption all summer long. It will be easy to get distracted by the changing crisis of the day, but if you stay focused on your plan and the actions it involves you will create needed stability.
Card of the Week: Seven of Pentacles
Where are you focusing your energy this week?
The Seven of Pentacles shows you understand the value of putting in time and energy now for longer-term rewards. You have a strong desire to invest in sustainable results. You are not looking for quick wins.
You’re making sure your attention is in the right areas instead of wasting it on tasks that will not deliver any value.
Trust that your hard work will pay off. You are likely to see financial or other tangible rewards for all your hard work.
See this as an invitation to step back from the day-to-day operations and look at the bigger picture. Celebrate what you have created and assess your progress so far.
If you’re feeling frustrated, be patient, and appreciate the progress you have made so far. Your work may not have paid off as planned. Make sure your expectations are reasonable.
Be grateful, focus on the present and do what you can with what you have.

Heartwings Love Notes 941
Little Things Gone Missing
Heartwings says, “It’s only after they’re gone that you realize how much you miss life’s little pleasures.
The daily and weekly routines Stephen and I once had, have been lost to the Covid 19 virus. Things we took for granted–trips to the library, going to the movies, eating in restaurants, have all been sacrificed to our safety. We must avoid exposing ourselves to a virus that can take your life with one simple breath. This is like nothing I have ever experienced. I find it remarkable how my life has changed from what it was a mere few months ago. If you had told me last fall what my life would be like today, I might not have believed you.
I do remember summers of polio when I was a child. Prior to the vaccine that eradicated poliomyelitis, many children succumbed to it. There are still adults today with polio crippled legs. One of my sixth-grade classmates caught it. As I recall he was paralyzed and placed in an iron lung. One parent I knew wouldn’t let her children drink any water that wasn’t bottled and even made them brush their teeth with bottled water. We were supposed to avoid the beach also, though I am not sure why. Perhaps it was for the same reason we avoid crowds today for fear of Covid 19.
Losing our small pleasures is an insignificant price to pay for staying safe. Wearing a mask in public is a courtesy Stephen and I are glad to practice. It is like saying, “I care about you, stranger, and I want us both to stay safe. How long will it be before Stephen and I go to a movie theater again? I have no idea and I won’t even try to guess. The Spanish flu of 1918 took many lives and lingered even into i920. My own grandfather died of it, and my grandmother, as was the custom, wore black for seven years. My mother told me that was the reason my father never wanted her ever to wear black.
It is strange to me that the tenor of our days has so altered. Before the onset of Covid 19, My life held few surprises. I never thought twice about going to the library or to a movie—and suddenly, I no longer could. Fortunately for us, Stephen has collected a quantity of videos and we could even make our own popcorn if we wanted. Yet I have come to understand that it’s not the film but the experience: going to the theater, sitting with others laughing or weeping, that I miss. When the day comes that we can mingle freely, without face coverings or fear, I will rejoice. Until then, while I may mourn my missing enjoyments, I’ll not risk my life for them.
May you stay safe in this dangerous time, taking proper precautions and being thankful.
Blessings and Best Regards, Tasha Halpert
PS Do you remember Polio? How are you passing the time you used to spend differently? I do so love to hear from readers. Your emails make my day.
Lily trumpets of summer give way
to queen’s lace edging early harvest,
no carrots here, but hay and clover.
Peaches and corn beckon from farm stands
baskets of blueberries glisten midnight blue
next to squash and early apples.
The gnarled tree in my great grandfather’s
orchard drops its sweet yellow apples,
first of many varieties he planted.
August shines from spiderwebs stretched
between spikes of goldenrod.
September croons in the wind.
Its time is coming sooner than we know.

Llewellyn’s Spell A Day
To Reconnect With Someone Special
BY CHARLIE RAINBOW WOLF
Mercury is finally out of its storm, and things should start moving forward again. To celebrate this, here’s a spell to get communication going smoothly again between you and a loved one. You’ll need a pen and paper, a needle with yellow thread, and a photo of yourself.
Write your loved one’s name on the paper, and draw a circle around it. Thread the needle and sew the person’s name to your photo. Communication between the two of you should start to open up shortly, and any misunderstandings you’ve had can now be laid to rest, even if it’s just to give you closure so you can move on.
BY KATE FREULER
Finding a feather on the ground is a gift from nature. A feather’s association with the air element makes it a wonderful all-natural item to include in spells for communication or sending messages. If you have a message or positive feeling you wish to send to someone but you can’t see them or contact them in real life, try using this feather spell to get in touch with them subconsciously.
Next time you happen across a feather on the ground, hang onto it. Write the initials of the person you wish to contact on the feather with paint or ink. Cast a circle, if you wish, and sit quietly with the feather in your hand. See the recipient clearly in your mind. Whisper your message to the feather—keep it short and clear.
Go outside and set the feather down. Let it be taken away by the wind. Nature will carry the message to your friend.
Weeding Our Spiritual Landscape Spell
BY THURI CALAFIA
Now, at the height of the summer season, many of us can find ourselves feeling burned-out from having too much to do and too many commitments. This is a spell to bring balance back to our lives.
First, take a black candle and use a small blade or wooden pick to carve it with symbols of all the things you wish to do but have no idea how to make time for. Then take a white candle and carve it with the things you’re currently managing. Light both candles and take turns dripping the wax from the black candle onto the white one, and vice versa, while chanting:
Show me where to pull the weed.
Show me where to plant the seed.
Show me where to find the time;
To fly, to soar, to make this mine!
Let the power peak, shooting it into the candles, then place them close together on your altar. Do some wax scrying, if desired, on how the candles melted. Extinguish the candles. Know that the divine is opening up space in your life for all of your most cherished wishes. Blessed be.
BY MELISSA TIPTON
Many of us spend the majority of our time on a schedule that leaves precious little time for meandering and exploring. This spell is ideal for a day off, whether at home or on vacation, to help you break out of patterns that are narrowing your perception of what is possible. I like to hold a bottled drink or a to-go snack in my hands as I say the spell, charging it with my intention. I take the charged food on my adventures to reinforce the magic as I sip or snack. Say:
I open to the magic
That is hidden in all things.
I surrender plans and schedules
On this day of meandering.
Through doors unknown
and paths untread,
My soul will guide the way
And lead me like a string of lights
Through a wonder-full, expansive day.
Set out on your adventure and stay curious. Let the magic guide you to unexpected places, people, and situations. Have fun!
Garden Rune Spell
BY ARI MANKEY
Find several flat stones, preferably from your own yard or neighborhood. Wash them with soap and water, then cleanse them with salted water and the incense of your choice (such as sandalwood or myrrh).
When your stones are clean physically and magickally, paint (or draw with a marker) your favorite runes (or other magickal symbols) on them. We like to do the painting on our house altar for an extra added bit of energy. Choose runes that are associated with fertility, such as Fehu, Uruz, Wunjo, or Jera, and add a protective rune or two, such as Thurisaz or Eihwaz, to keep the squirrels from eating your tomatoes!
When the paint is dry, bury the runes in your garden (or pot, if you have a container gardener). Their energy will act as a magickal fertilizer, adding a little extra zing (and protection) to your garden. You can bury your runes during any moon phase, but full and waxing moons provide the best results.
A Household Smudging Consecration
BY RAVEN DIGITALIS
Burning herbs or incense is a great way to cleanse small amounts of residual negative energy from a space. In many ways, smudging is considered to be an act of energetic neutralization.
To add an extra boost of protection to your home, smudge every room, drawer, and closet of your house. Walk in a deosil (clockwise) fashion in order to accomplish this. Sing a special song or recite an appropriate mantra while doing so.
Afterward, choose four sticks of all-natural incense and do the same thing. This time, however, venture outside your home (or apartment building), and make a full deosil circle around the property. Carefully place a stick of incense near the four corners of the house; ensure that they are secured, and be sure to check them later.
At each quadrant, offer prayers to the Watchtowers, the elements, the cardinal directions, and any local spirits or personal guides with whom you feel a kinship.
Dark Moon Scrying
BY LAURA TEMPEST ZAKROFF
Here is an invocation to harness the energy of the new (or dark) moon for scrying:
Dark moon in bed of starry night,
Shadowy wisdom granting sight.
Lift the veil between the worlds,
So the spirits’ path is unfurled.
Hidden knowledge revealed anew,
Safely guided now, give the view!
Lughnasadh for Solitary Practitioners
From The Druid’s Garden
In a typical year, at Lughnasadh, my grove would be gathering for our favorite celebration of the year. This is typically a weekend of rituals, feasting, fire, and merriment, all hosted here at our homestead in Western PA. With the pandemic raging around us, this kind of gathering cannot happen at present. As much as I enjoy our yearly Lughnasadh gathering, I’m taking time this year to focus on my solitary practice and enjoy Lughnasadh in a different way. Looking at the history and lore of Lughnasadh offers some wonderful solitary practices that honor the history of this holiday and have a fun time. For a historical look at Lughnasadh (and where some of the inspiration for this post was drawn), you can see Máire MacNeill (1962) The festival of Lughnasa: a study of the survival of the Celtic festival of the beginning of harvest published by Oxford University Press. For my other posts on other ways to celebrate Lughnasadh, please see building sacred plant relationships at Lughnasadh and Sacred Herbalism at Lughnasadh.
Visits to Sacred Wells (Springs, Waterways, other Bodies of Water)
A Lughnasadh tradition that stems back to ancient times is the journey to a holy well or sacred spring. Although wells and springs do not necessarily have the sacred significance in some parts of the world (like the US) that they have in others, it is still an excellent experience to find a local spring, well, or other waterway and make the journey. You can begin to build a relationship with a spring, well, or other water source which in turn can offer you deep spiritual practices. For more on practices that you might do at a sacred spring, see Seeking Sacred Springs for Inspiration and Healing. If you want to find a spring local to you, you can use http://www.findaspring.com.
Pilgrimage to a Hill or Mountain
Another very common tradition is the act of climbing a hill or mountain. Like many other traditions, climbing mountains as a sacred act was appropriated by Christianity as part of the conversion of the British Isles. One such modern tradition called “Reek Sunday” where pilgrims climb a mountain sacred to St. Patrick (like everything else, it is likely an older sacred site that was transformed into a Christian monument). Regardless of who claims the practice today, it certainly had pagan origins and was taking place long before the arrival of Christianity.
For your own mountain or hill climb, you will want to think about something that has local significance or personal significance to you. For example, since I live in Western Pennsylvania, one of the best options is to hike to one of the overlooks in the Allegheny mountains–we have several peaks and ridges that are excellent climbs, offer a beautiful overview when you reach the top, and are certainly sacred to me. Finding a spot to climb can be part of the fun!
Once you have your hill or mountain picked out, you can decide if you want to plan something (e.g. bring sacred water, offerings, have a picnic, do a ritual) or keep things spontaneous when you reach the top.
Creating a Garland
Garland creation used to be a common occurrence in the British Isles, seeped in tradition and spiritual significance, but the practice has largely been lost in the Western world (but is still practiced in many other places). A garland is a decorative wreath of flowers and greenery that can be worn as a headdress, a necklace, hang over an altar, laid an offering (such as at the top of the mountain or next to the sacred spring), or hung in the house as a blessing. Garlands were often used for spiritual purposes, including for celebrations, rituals, offerings, and more. At Lughnasadh, garlands were often placed around holy wells and could also be used for the many weddings and unions that happened at these times. Here is a nice introduction for how to create a garland out of fresh flowers and plant material. I’ll be writing more about garlands and how to build in druid and pagan symbolism soon!
An offering of “First Fruits” or Giving Back
Lughnasadh is a traditional time of first harvest, when the “first fruits” of the land were offered in thanks. Traditionally, offering back part of the first harvest demonstrated reciprocation, interdependency, and the importance of sustaining and nurturing the land. I believe that without these kinds of traditions, we forget how much we depend on, and therefore need to nurture and sustain, our living earth. If you grow something (or go wild food foraging for berries, etc), an early harvest here is an excellent choice for an offering. Even if you don’t grow anything yourself, you can think about an appropriate offering to the land for her bounty: a prayer, a song, a poem, picking up trash, anything that can show that you are giving back. For more on offerings and gratitude practices, you might want to see this post.
Cook a Special Meal with Local / Homegrown Foods
Another take on the “first harvest” is preparing a special meal and taking a little bit of that meal for an offering. Go to a farmer’s market, get what is in season, harvest from your garden. You can also tie it to a ritual–having a ritual meal where you open up sacred space, break bread with loved ones or commune silently with spirit, and simply enjoy the experience of good, local food.
Simply Be / Forest Bathing
I think this last one is really important in today’s hectic life: just take some time to be present in nature. Take a blanket into the woods or a local park. Rest, relax, and allow your mind to wander. Spend time simply in nature, enjoying being outside. Taking an hour or two to do this will be relaxing, grounding, and effective.
Working with Bones and Skulls in Witchcraft
JULY 06, 2020 BY KATE FREULER
Minimal Altar with Skull
A recurring and polarizing topic in the witchcraft community is the act of incorporating animal bones and remains into ritual. If you’ve been on Instagram for any length of time, you’ve probably seen plenty of witchy photos featuring various animal parts like teeth, fur, skulls, feet, and claws alongside other magical items. Including bones in magick is a practice as old as time, but it remains a topic that’s largely omitted from books on modern witchcraft. This makes it difficult to find practical information about it. Maybe you yourself are drawn to the mysticism of skulls and bones, but are unsure what role these often misunderstood objects would play in your craft. Here are some things to consider.
Bones house powerful energy. Think of bones as living things, as you might plants or even crystals. Just as you would choose various plants or crystals for your workings based on their magical purposes—protection, love, money, etc.—animals also have magickal associations. Not all bones are used for the same thing: Snake energy in magick is very different than, say, fox energy. Which part of the body a bone comes from can also play a role in this. For example, fangs from a coyote are useful for protection spells, whereas the baculum, or penis bone, of a racoon is favored in spells concerning sex and attraction.
Bones should be honored. If you choose to incorporate the elements of earth, air, fire, and water into your altar, a bone can represent the fifth element of spirit. Because it belongs to a creature that has passed over, its spirit has traversed the afterlife and can access other planes of existence. Consider surrounding the bone with special candles, laying flowers before it, or lighting incense dedicated to it. This will create a relationship between the spirit of the bones and your own, and will enhance your witchcraft in new and interesting ways.
Bones need to be cleansed. Like other magickal tools, bones can gather up energy over time. If you’re experienced with crystals, you already know the importance of clearing unwanted energy from an object. If a bone has been handled by many people on its journey to you or if the animal it came from died a traumatic death, it may have energy attached to it that will hinder your workings. Some ways to clear and bless bones are to let them sit under the light of the full moon, pass them through incense smoke, or rinse them with water while visualizing your intention.
Bones represent something much larger. When working with the bone or skull of a specific animal, bear in mind that it contains the DNA of every one of its species that ever lived. A bone is also a direct conduit to the spirit or archetype of the animal and all it represents in the natural world, in mythology, in folklore, and in the collective unconscious—that’s a lot! Research the stories, myths, and traits of the animal to find out what energy it brings into your life.
Animal remains aren’t for everyone. And that’s okay. Just because there’s currently a surge in the popularity of bones in the witchy world doesn’t mean you have to take part if the idea bothers you. If bones creep you out, just don’t use them. There are also some animal remains that are not a result of death to consider, such as shed antlers or snakeskin.
There’s no need to ever hurt an animal in magick. You can find bones from deceased animals on your own, or purchase them online. There are many people who sell animal remains who can tell you exactly how they source their products. Some are reclaimed after natural deaths due to predators and environment, while others are leftover from hunting and more. It’s up to you to decide with which of these you’re comfortable.
A Home Protection Skull
Skulls, whether real or illustrated, are often a warning symbol. This can be seen in fairytales where the wicked witch has skulls impaled on the fence posts all around her house to keep people out, or where the victors in battle display the heads of their enemies like trophies to guard against future attack. Even modern cleaning products are marked with the skull and crossbones to warn people of their danger. While these things sound rather foreboding, it’s this very cautioning, even frightening energy that will be created when making the home protection skull. After all, the point is to deter unwanted influences from coming into your space.
In my home, we have a cow skull in the front room. It’s the first thing you see when you enter our house, and it’s been there for quite a few years. Every time a member of our family finds something interesting on our travels, like a feather, stone, or flower, we place it with this skull as a decoration and an offering. This skull brings protective energy to our space and pretty much feels like part of our family.
If you’re able to get a skull, try making the protection altar below. It can be from any animal at all, no matter what size, as the energy we’re drawing on in this working is the warning, foreboding and cautioning energy of the skull, more so than anything else.
1 skull of any kind. You can use a fake skull if you wish.
A spare key to your residence
Small container of water
Gather your materials during the full moon. Place the skull on the tray, and surround it with the flowers, plants, and stones. Hold both hands over the skull and spend a moment feeling its energy, aligning it with your own. Take note of its more threatening features and vibrations. Send feelings of love and respect through the palms of your hands into the skull, while you imagine filling it with light. The light you send isn’t meant to alter the skull’s energy, but rather to mingle with it; accept its frightening reputation and understand there is a place for this in magick and in nature.
Next, dip the paintbrush in water. With the water, trace the names or initials of all the household residents onto the skull. The water will evaporate, and the identity of each individual will have been communicated to the skull. You can replace initials or names with your own protective symbols or sigils if you wish.
Now place your spare house key beneath the skull for safekeeping. This act symbolizes that you trust the skull to watch over your home.
Place the skull and offerings in a special place in your space.
Over time, be sure to replace the flowers and plants, keep the area clean, and replenish your offerings regularly. These acts show continued respect to the spirit of the skull in exchange for the protection of your home.
Are You Excited or Scared?
By Madisyn Taylor
Sometimes the feelings of being scared and excited can elicit the same physical response in our bodies.
When new challenges and opportunities show up in our lives, we may diagnose ourselves as feeling scared when what we really feel is excited. Often we have not been taught how to welcome the thrill of a new opportunity, and so we opt to back off, indulging our anxiety instead of awakening our courage. One way to inspire ourselves to embrace the opportunities that come our way is to look more deeply into our feelings and see that butterflies in our stomach or a rapidly beating heart are not necessarily a sign that we are afraid. Those very same feelings can be translated as excitement, curiosity, passion, and even love.
There is nothing wrong with being afraid as long as we do not let it stop us from doing the things that excite us. Most of us assume that brave people are fearless, but the truth is that they are simply more comfortable with fear because they face it on a regular basis. The more we do this, the more we feel excitement in the face of challenges rather than anxiety. The more we cultivate our ability to move forward instead of backing off, the more we trust ourselves to be able to handle the new opportunity, whether it’s a new job, an exciting move, or a relationship. When we feel our fear, we can remind ourselves that maybe we are actually just excited. We can assure ourselves that this opportunity has come our way because we are meant to take it.
Framing things just a little differently can dramatically shift our mental state from one of resistance to one of openness. We can practice this new way of seeing things by saying aloud: I am really excited about this job interview. I am really looking forward to going on a date with this amazing person. I am excited to have the opportunity to do something I have never done before. As we do this, we will feel our energy shift from fear, which paralyzes, to excitement, which empowers us to direct all that energy in the service of moving forward, growing, and learning.
Afraid of the Truth
By Madisyn Taylor
Facing the truth upfront rather than turning from it will keep your life moving in a forward and positive direction.
Most of us have had the experience of being in possession of a piece of truth that we were afraid to share because we knew it would not be well received. There are also instances in which we ourselves have been unable to handle some truth confronting us. This might be a small truth, such as not wanting to see that our car needs repairs because we don’t want to pay for them, or a large truth, such as not fully accepting that someone close to us is pushing us away. Usually, the truth is evident, and we can see it if we choose, but we have elaborate ways of hiding the truth form ourselves, no matter how apparent it is.
For the most part, we avoid the truth because it scares us, or makes us angry, or makes us feel like we don’t know what to do. We often create our lives based on a particular understanding, and if that understanding turns out to be fully or even partially incorrect, we may feel that our whole sense of reality is being threatened. It takes a strong person to face the truth in circumstances like these, and many of us run for cover instead. Nevertheless, we can only avoid the truth for so long before it begins to make itself known in ever more forceful ways.
Ultimately, there is no way to avoid the truth, no matter how painful it is, so the sooner we let down our defenses, the better. When we know the truth and accept that we may have to adjust our lives to accommodate, we are in alignment with reality. At the same time, we can be patient with people around us who have a hard time seeing the truth, because we know how painful it can be. Whatever the truth is, we make a sincere effort not to close our eyes to it, but instead to be grateful that we have access to it.
Keeping Cats Safe: Lilies
by sarahicatcare ~ International Cat Care
If you look at the list of most popular flowers in any florist, lilies are likely to feature close to the top.
They’re an attractive, fragrant flower and it’s no surprise they’re so commonly given as gifts and used in bouquets. They are however extremely toxic to cats, causing severe kidney damage, and even minimal contact with them can prove to be fatal.
In a study of 57 cats exposed to lily poisoning, almost half of the cats had come into contact from lilies that were received as a gift. In the same study only 27% of owners said that they knew lilies were toxic before their cats had been affected¹, which suggests that the majority of these cases could have been avoided if the threat that lilies pose to cats was more widely known.
Which lilies are we talking about?
Many different plants have lily in their name, for example, peace lily and lily of the valley, and whilst these may have different toxic effects, it’s all species of Lilum (true lily) and Hemerocallis (day lily) that are being discussed here and are listed in the table below.
Scientific Name ~ Common Names
Hemerocallis species Day lily
Lilium x asiatica Asiatic lily
Lilium x asiatica americana
Lilium candidum Madonna lily
Lilium hydridum Japanese showy lily
Lilium lancifolium (Lilium tigrinum) Tiger lily
Lilium longiforum Easter lily
Lilium orientalis Stargazer lily; oriental lily
Lilium regale Royal lily
Lilium rubrum Rubrum lily
Lilium umbellatum Western or wood lily
How toxic are they?
The reason why cats are so susceptible to lily intoxication isn’t exactly known, other animals such as rats and rabbits don’t seem to be affected at all, but for cats, all parts of the plant are toxic; the pollen, flowers, stem and leaves. Ingesting less than one leaf, part of a flower, pollen, or even drinking water from a vase holding cut lilies can be fatal. The toxin causes severe damage to the kidneys, which can lead to kidney failure and result in death.
Are all cats at risk?
Indoor cats, especially kittens, may be particularly likely to interact with flowers and floral arrangements as they make an interesting addition to an otherwise predictable environment that might lack vegetation. However, it is also easier to control the presence of lilies inside the home. For free roaming cats, removing lilies from the home and garden is no guarantee that they won’t come into contact with them elsewhere.
What are the symptoms?
Symptoms of poisoning include:
On examination a vet may find enlarged and painful kidneys
If you suspect that your cat has come into contact with lilies, it’s important to seek veterinary advice immediately. As the toxic effects are so severe and develop so rapidly, ensuring that they receive treatment as quickly as possible is crucial to improving their chance of recovery.
Prevention is better than the cure, so the best way to keep cats safe from lily poisoning is to ensure that they can’t come into contact with them. For free roaming cats this is easier said than done, so knowledge of the symptoms is useful as the poisoning can be identified and treatment sought.

Frozen Berries and Cream
This is better than ice cream!! Great for those days you realize after dinner you’re way under your protein limit. A treat that’s good for you!
Minutes to Prepare: 2
Number of Servings: 1
1/4 cup fresh raspberries
1/2 cup nonfat Greek yogurt
1 tbsp honey
5 almonds, coarsely chopped
Try this frozen–we loved it that way!
You can use any kind of yogurt. I use the Greek because it’s not very sweet, so it balances out the honey and berries.
Spoon the yogurt into a bowl. Drizzle the honey over it and stir. Add the raspberries and chopped almonds. I mix the honey in first so that the raspberries don’t break up during stirring.

” Your brain took a beating.” The therapist peered at Gilberto with the eyes of a hawk pursuing a field mouse.
He had been in the hospital for five days now and he felt pretty good. He sat across from the doctor in her office. White walls, sterile décor, papers piled in a metal bookcase, a faded Van Gogh print on one wall. He sniffed and could smell cleaning fluid.
“I really feel ok,” he said. “I want to go home and be cleared to go back to work.”
Her eyes widened. “No!” She banged her fist on the desk. “Absolutely not! You won’t be permitted back to work for at least six months. You’re lucky to be alive. You need bed rest and physical therapy.”
She squirmed in her chair and pursed her lips. “You shouldn’t even be out of bed.”
He grinned. “We could have fun.” She looked his type, a busty brunette with more up top than most, long legs made for dancing. Her high cheekbones and determined expression reminded him of several movie stars. The small name placard on her desk read Dr. Emily Bloom.
She straightened her blouse and smiled politely; a smile he took to be thoroughly fake.
“I have ordered more tests for you and then you’ll be sent to rehab.”
He grinned. His eyes crinkled. “I’d feel a lot better if you took me home with you. I know we’d have fun.”
“You’re being rather forward, Mr.…”She peered down at his paperwork, “Santiago.” Her cheeks flushed. She cleared her throat and frowned. “I’m terribly sorry,” she said, her voice formal and professional. “Hospital staff aren’t permitted to date patients.”
Gilberto grinned. “That’s ok. We wouldn’t be dating. We’d just spend the night together.”
She straightened her shoulders and shook her head. He thought her body language was the opposite of her words, and he found it amusing.
“Are you always this blunt or perhaps has your brain injury set something adrift in your personality?”
He gave her his wild boy grin. When he was younger that grin could melt a young girl’s heart. “No, I’m always this way; especially around women who are burning up inside.”
She sighed. “None the less,” she scolded, “I feel you should be warned that these aren’t the Sixties anymore. Women have put their bras back on and demand respect.”
He frowned. “How can what I say be bothersome, especially when I’m being honest? You’d rather I only think about you on the sly, at night before I fall asleep?”
She breathed through her nose, almost snorting. Her lips tightened but her hands were clasping and unclasping on her desk. “I’m not going to answer that.”
“All right then, why more tests?”
“To save your mind.”
He laughed. My mind’s ok. I’ve been hit in the head many times playing soccer. You just bought a new sofa didn’t you.”
“You are being senseless.”
“And you better buy new plugs for your Volvo.” But she wasn’t listening to anything he said. Instead in a very cold voice, she reiterated. “You well might have serious traumatic brain injury. I would urge you to have private consultations and therapy.”
He nodded. “Last chance. “Kissing you would be so memorable.”
She glared. “You are a chauvinist.”
“I’m just me, but nobody else has ever complained.”
He backed his wheelchair out of her office and went back to his room.
His lunch was there on a small tray. Seeing him, his pal Debby, one of the floor nurses joined him. She was a young blond in her twenties with a good sense of humor. “Cod cake, corn and kale. Please eat. You need to keep up your strength.”
Gilberto peered at the tray. “The kale looks soggy, overcooked, the cod cakes burnt. Convicts get better food than this.”
“I’m sorry,” she said. “But you must eat.”
“I’ll bet you’d be delicious. I like flirting with you.”
She smiled. “You’re such a sweet man. You remind me so much of my father.”
His eyes widened, “Your father?”
“Yes,” she sighed. “He’s so lonely. Ever since mom passed, soon as he’s home from work the poor guy’s glued to the computer looking for a girlfriend, but at his age, I have my doubts.”
Gilberto frowned. “His age?”
“Just turned sixty,” she said. ”
He laughed. ” No one ever compared me to their father before.”
“Oh, before I forget. You’re listed for a battery of tests. Full body scan, frontal lobe probe, the works. ”
He frowned. “What for? I feel ok, really.”
She grinned, “Because your insurance covers it.”
He shook his head. “What if I say no.”
“Oh, please don’t. That would cause a terrible row.”
She shook her head and picked up his untouched tray. “Wait,” he said. “What would your father do if he were facing all those tests.”
She laughed. “Oh, knowing him he’d call a cab and go home. No one ever tells my father what to do.”
“You mean he’d escape?” Gilberto’s eyes widened.
She smiled and nodded. “I guess. Yeah, I guess so, when you think about it.”
Later Ramon brought Gilberto his daily pizza. After finishing his third slice he looked at his friend and said. “I got a thought.”
Ramon’s eyes flashed. He grinned. “I’m ready for anything: what?”
“I’m going to break out of this prison.”
Ramon sat up straight. “That’s the last thing I want to hear. You could get arrested.”
“Nah,” Gilberto waved his hand. “I can’t get arrested for breaking out of a hospital, and you can help me.”
“Wait a minute, Ramon said. “I could get arrested and held as an accomplice.”
“”You won’t! But if you do, I’ll pay for your lawyer. When you come tomorrow, you can cover me in a blanket and wheel me out the front door to your car. I’ll make myself invisible.”
“Like you used to do when you made a penalty kick and the goalie couldn’t see you.”
Gilberto grinned. “Something like that. Listen, since my accident I can do something I never could before!” I look at a nurse and see things about her.”
Ramon’s eyes widened. “What are you saying?”
Gilberto grinned. “I am telling you, he leaned forward. “Since the accident I have an extra sense about stuff.
Ramon looked uncomfortable. “Ok tell me what I’m thinking?”
“You’re wondering if I’ve gone nuts from a hit on the head. Now I see you kissing Rosa.
Ramon smiled. ” But you’re making this up, right?”
Gilberto shook his head. “No, it just comes to me. I know things without even knowing how I know. Go figure.”
“How about soccer scores, can you predict them?”
“Maybe. But It isn’t something I do; it’s something I get, a knowing, it just happens. Like this,” Gilberto smiled. “Rosa wants you to take her and the little girls to Niagara Falls.”
Ramon’s eyes widened. “That’s what we talked about last night. My vacation.”
Gilberto grinned. “The Canadian side is better.”
Ramon shook his head. “I don’t know about you,” he said.”
“I’ll call Maria,” he said, she’ll come help us. ” He looked down shyly and sighed. “She’s been visiting me every day, checking on me, bringing Joey too. She wants to take care of me. When she comes, she brings homemade soup.”
Ramon’s eyebrows flew up. “You never told me!”
“I know. I didn’t want you to tease me.”
Ramon smiled. “I’m happy for you bro,” he said, He clapped him on the shoulder and Gilberto winced.
“See you tomorrow, then. Let me know when you’re coming and Maria and I’ll be ready.”
Weekly Horoscope: Sunday, July 26, 2020
by Georgia Nicols
Saturn is in its own sign Capricorn from Dec. 2017 to Dec. 2020. Saturn represents the status quo, the government plus borders and boundaries. Like a sneak preview, Saturn slipped into the next sign Aquarius in March this year, then returned to Capricorn three weeks ago. In mid Dec. Saturn will move into Aquarius again, this time to stay until 2023. This heralds a huge change! Aquarius is revolutionary! The last time Saturn was in Aquarius, the Cold War ended, the Soviet Union broke up, Russia elected its first democratically elected president and South Africa repealed Apartheid. (1991-1993). Change and innovation are coming! (Relax: If you put out fresh flowers you don’t have to dust.)
Aries (March 21-April 19)
You have lots of energy because your ruler Mars is in your sign, where it will stay for the rest of year. (This is most unusual! The last time this particular phenomenon occurred was in 1988. Yes, I will keep reminding you.) Meanwhile, the placement of the Sun encourages lighthearted relationships, parties, social interactions, active sports, hot romance, entertaining diversions and fun activities with kids. Note: The end of the week is an accident-prone time for your kids as well as sports so pay attention to everything. That also will be the classic time for sudden changes in social situations – surprise invitations or cancellations.
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
Life is good. You can attract money to you now. In fact, many of you are spending more money than usual on beautiful things for yourself and loved ones. You have a strong focus right now on home, family and your private life. Some of you are involved more than usual with a parent. Be careful towards the end of the week because some kind of upset on the home front or an unexpected surprise might catch you off guard. Be patient with parents and authority figures. Meanwhile, you have a busy pace this week because short trips, conversations with others plus reading, writing and studying will fill your time. Near the end of the week, avoid arguments, which are really just power struggles. Phffft!
Gemini (May 21-June 20)
Your busy pace continues this week because you have an ambitious To Do list. Not only are you reading and studying more than usual, you are talking to siblings and neighbours plus taking little diversionary trips. You are even more chatty than usual. Many of you will have financial discussions with others. With Venus in your sign now, of course you are charming and diplomatic with everyone; nevertheless, you will make your point! You’re also very goal oriented at this time, which is why you are thinking about your priorities for the future. Toward the end of the week, avoid financial arguments and be extra vigilant to avoid accidents. Forewarned is forearmed!
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
It’s still all about the money for you this week: money, possessions and your assets. You’re giving this a lot of thought plus you’re thinking about your values as well. Please be aware that towards the end of the week, some kind of surprise or something unexpected will impact your earnings, your wealth or your possessions. (You might find yourself at odds with a partner or close friend.) Meanwhile, your ambition is aroused and will continue to be strong and forthright until the end of the year! No matter what happens, you will work hard to achieve your goals. Please be mindful and aware and do not ignore or overlook the needs of others, which is certainly not your style – but right now you mean business!
Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)
You are blessed this week with the Sun in your sign giving you a chance to re-energize and replenish yourself. Relations with friends and groups are warm and friendly because Venus makes you loving and affectionate with others. In fact, this is a lovely time to socialize with friends and groups in person or online. You continue to want to travel or explore and expand your horizons in some way, which is why you want to get out and do something different. However, be aware that as the weekend approaches something sudden or unexpected might upset your routine. It could be a sudden argument, a car breaking down or something that interrupts your everyday routine. Stay chill. Even in bad times – good things can happen.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)
You will continue to prefer to stay in the wings, working alone or behind the scenes. You’re not being antisocial – it’s just your preference. Fortunately, relations with parents, bosses and VIPs are smooth because they see you in a positive light. In fact, their admiration for you is so strong, a romance with a boss might begin for some of you. Many of you are hanging out with younger people, which is why you might be enthusiastic about new ideas. Disputes about shared property, inheritances and insurance issues are still in the picture. This could be because of something that catches you off guard at the end of the week. All is good. You’re just fine.
Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)
This is a social week because you want to enjoy the company of friends and groups, which is small wonder because after all, you are the most social sign in the zodiac! Nevertheless, with fiery Mars opposite your sign in your House of Marriage and Partnerships, you have to remain calm when dealing with those who are closest to you. They might seem to be annoying. If you react, then they will react and then before you know it, you’re arguing. This does not promote your happiness, does it? For your own good, rise above this. Carpe Diem! “Seize the day!” Enjoy whatever is good in life all around you and be patient with others. Remember: You will never again be as young as you are today!
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)
The Sun is still at the top of your chart casting you in a flattering spotlight. (Remember that this happens only once a year for four weeks.) This makes you look wonderful in the eyes of others, especially bosses, parents, teachers and VIPs. Obviously, you can use this to your advantage, which is why this is a good week to make your pitch or do what you can to advance your agenda. Nevertheless, steer clear of discussions about politics, religion and racial issues because arguments might arise, especially toward the end of the week. You’re working hard. This might also contribute to an argument with an authority figure by the weekend. Be patient: Like you, everyone has put their mask on one ear at a time.
Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)
Life is an adventure lately, which is why you want something exciting to happen! You want to travel and learn new things and meet new people and be stimulated by new ideas! Fortunately, relations with partners and close friends are lovely because fair Venus is opposite your sign this week. However, travel plans or matters related to publishing, the media, medicine and the law might surprise you or catch you off guard suddenly toward the end of the week. Your high-energy will continue (as it will for the rest of year), which is why you are seeking ways to express your creative talents. “I am!”
Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)
This continues to be an intense week for you, perhaps because things are topsy-turvy at home where something is happening to create increased activity, chaos or uncertainty for you. In turn, this can promote tension with family members. Fortunately, relations with coworkers are excellent. People will be supportive and friendly this week. Having said that, toward the end of the week, you might be at odds with a partner or close friend, possibly because of a sudden upset that impacts inheritances, shared wealth or the resources of your partner. Fear not, with lucky Jupiter in your sign, you have divine protection
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)
Continue to respect your need for more sleep and more rest because this is your reality. You are functioning on slightly less energy. Admittedly, your communications with others are forceful even persuasive but that’s just because you have a way with words. (Some not have way.) Despite your lower energy, you have many opportunities for fun this week. Creative activities are favoured because you need to express yourself! Romance is warm and reassuring. It’s also easier to relate to kids, which is why this is a great week for games and fun. Basically, you want to amuse yourself! Avoid arguments and upsets with partners and close friends at the end of the week. Anger serves no purpose except to make everyone miserable.
Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)
You will continue to bust your buns this week because you want to get a lot done and you want to do it well. You’re setting yourself high personal standards, which means you want to be efficient, organized and productive. You even want to improve your health! Some of this energy will spill over into efforts to redecorate and tweak your digs. You will also enjoy entertaining at home because you feel warm and social. Caution about spending too much money, which you might be tempted to do. Toward the end of the week, upsets at work might occur. Don’t let this spill over into arguments with kids or romantic partners. Chill out.
Weekly Horoscopes beginning Sunday, 26 July 2020
If you`re born within cusp period (16 to 26 of any month); you`re advised to read horoscopes of both signs covered by that period. You`re in the border; you may have influences from houses within those signs.
Outlines are longer versions; consists of every possible detail of everyday and based on three parts of each sign: 1st, 2nd & 3rd Decan; that is, any of three divisions of 10° within a sign of the zodiac. Even if you know or don`t know your Decan; I recommend, please read all three Decan.
Personal theme: I am!!
Fire & cardinal sign: March 21 — April 19
Your horoscope for this week:
The coming days are all about discussions, asking questions, having occasional clashes with others, then more discussion. While you may manage to make a few decisions, judging by the powerful influence of Mercury, what you learn will be so important that you`ll be relieved that, in most cases, there`s no huge rush to finalise plans. If they are urgent, ensure whatever you arrange is flexible.
A desire to break away from your usual routine will be almost irresistible. You need to be active and as long as you let your loved ones know what you have in mind, there`s no reason why you shouldn`t give in to this desire to do something different. Relationships will improve if you`re honest about your feelings. Remember that other people can`t read your mind and if you explain the reason why you are doing what you do, they will understand.
If this week could be turned into a book or film, the title would surely be something along the lines of `Where Dreams Collide`. Most people will be in imaginative and creative mood as of Monday. Yet for Aries, other people`s dreams could seem wide of the mark. It`s probable you`ll have to work hard to find workable arrangements before the end of July; and yes, this could be irksome. Passions will no doubt be aroused with the threat of dispute leading to total breakdown a real possibility. As we know, 2020 is proving to be a year of high drama. We are all navigating rocks. Whilst understandably you might wish to have command of the ship, you do need others to work with you. A charm offensive may be necessary to persuade someone who is very canny with finances that they need to invest more.
Personal theme: I have!!
Earth & fixed sign: April 20 — May 20
Your horoscope for this week:
When the fiery Mars moved into the most strategic portion of your chart a month ago, you began a cycle that`s as much about questioning as it is taking action. While you`ve probably already tackled several persistent issues, you remain puzzled by others. Urgent as these seem, invest time in delving deeply into the actual situation and your options, including those that, once, you`d never have considered.
A partner or someone in the family wants to talk about their plans for the future. They`re hinting of something important that`s about to happen and you have a vague idea about what this might be. Whatever the situation, you do feel that events, this week, will be special in some way and you won`t be disappointed. Shopping with a creative find will not only be fun but they will help you find an unusual gift for a Leo who seems to have everything.
It`s probable that others have been incubating ideas and that this week, they will be ready to put plans forward. It would be understandable if you were both dismayed and disorientated, – yet vaguely seduced by their thinking. Marketing and advertising might need high priority. Yet this could prove costly, and persuading someone that this would be the best use of the limited funds available might not be easy. You won`t be the only sign considering developing working space at home. Having now identified the potential for a fresh revenue stream, you could obtain estimates ahead of next Monday`s Full Moon with the intention of making progress in this direction in September.
Personal theme: I think!!
Air sign: May 21 — June 20
Your horoscope for this week:
The time has come to untangle a range of issues, mostly regarding dull practicalities. While you`ve ignored some because you hoped that they`d magically resolve themselves, in as many cases you`re short of facts. Deal with them one at a time, tackling those that are easiest first. This isn`t lazy but, rather, what you learn from them will streamline dealing with those that are more complex.
Secret information will be shared with you or you will discover this through a whole range of different ways and means. What you hear should be kept under wraps for now. Upgrade your passwords and protect your own interests. Avoid allowing your personal life to interfere with your job and vice versa. There`s a time to play and a time to work. Keep this in balance. Beware of overindulging in food and drink. In all areas, moderation is key.
You thrive on ideas and there should be plenty of those around. The problem is that not many may be grounded. Dealing with practicalities is essential if certain dreams are to be realised. A major difficulty may be negotiating a sale. Pricing might require revision. The lure of places and people far distant seems set to demand increased attention. Whilst you might enjoy the lively discussion that ensues, it might be as well to be prepared for Venus-ruled Taurus or Libra friends to find this exhausting. They might also conclude that you`re being hypercritical and overly interfering – which would surely then damage your long-term working partnership.
Personal theme: I feel!!
Water & cardinal sign: June 21 — July 22
Your horoscope for this week:
Every New Moon is about a fresh start. However, because last Monday`s was the second of two in Cancer this year, you`re no clearer about what`s going and, even more, certain life-changing ideas. For now, explore everything. What once seemed unappealing options will show promise and those you ignored will suddenly develop unexpected charm. Agree to more than is realistic, knowing you can cut back later.
Changes in the workplace that have been causing you sleepless nights will soon feel inconsequential. You might feel annoyed with yourself for having allowed yourself to worry over nothing. Equally, a lover`s quarrel will soon be water under the bridge. One good thing that can be said of this is that the best part of breaking up is when you`re making up. If you want a promotion, talk to your boss. Someone with your talents can reach great heights.
It would be understandable if you were champing at the bit on Monday to put into effect some of the ideas and plans you been incubating since the start of the year. In fact, these might even have roots back as far as March of last year; and yes, you may be correct in thinking that the services and products you have to offer are much-needed. Yet by midweek it could feel as though you`re herding cats. Others may be involved in wild discussions, yet still be unsure as to what can and should be implemented. Travel may well be an issue. By the last day of July, and with the Moon then in your opposite sign, relations with those born under the Air signs of Gemini, Libra or Aquarius could be particularly tense. In the case of the latter, a major move may be under consideration – prompting you to want to pull down your shell and hide away.
Personal theme: I will!!
Fire & fixed sign: July 23 — August 22
Your horoscope for this week:
Your ruler the Sun moved into Leo, last Wednesday. This boosted both your spirits and your energy level. However, you`re still wrestling with a range of decisions, small and large. That`s no surprise, because you`ve numerous options to consider, many unfamiliar. Urgent as things seem, take it slowly. In some cases, you`ll be unsure what`s best until the Leo Full Moon on 19 August.
Your personal charisma is at an all-time high and your powers of persuasion are strong. Be careful how you use this. You are extremely charming by nature and you could talk anyone into doing anything if you really tried. This can be fun but consider your motivations. Making plans with your partner or best friend will be exciting. Something special is being arranged and this will appeal to your adventurous spirit. Just try to curb your desire to spend for the sake of spending.
doublechecking resources would be wise at Monday`s first quarter moon. It isn`t the case that you want to pour cold water over other people`s ideas but you absolutely right that checks need to be made. Much of the world will be focused on advertising, marketing and distribution. Yet even you could be blindsided by lack of energy and support from organisations or even governments that implied rescue but who are unable to fulfil promises. It may be that expectations have to be adjusted. A showdown of some kind is likely before the end of the month. This though could give you the impetus what has been bubbling for way over a year i.e. to do your own thing. Interestingly though, to do this might require joining forces with others in similar situations. Involvement in a co-operative venture looks increasingly likely.
Personal theme: I analyse!!
Earth sign: August 23 — September 22
Your horoscope for this week:
Living with uncertainty in crucial elements of your life isn`t easy. Yet, if you`ve already tried turning certain plans into lasting arrangements, you`ll know the foundation on which they`re based is shifting. If you must make plans, ensure they`re flexible enough that you can rethink them, probably more than once. This isn`t your style, as a conscientious Virgo, but for now it`s your best option.
Unexpected bills will mean juggling the budget. You`re looking for ways to economise. You might even decide to draw up a list of ideas on how other members of your family might cut down on their spending. They won`t thank you for it but they will act on your ideas after a little grumbling. If you are a parent, keep an eye on the health of your children. A youngster could be suffering from toothache or some other ailment but they`re keeping quiet about it.
It is in your nature to worry; and yes, you may be right to have concerns. Facts that have been hidden could now come to light. You may be justifiably appalled by inefficiencies. Yet you might also recognise that there is now opportunity to set up better systems and safeguards. This might require learning or relearning an old skill.. Old-fashioned systems could yet appeal. With thirst for knowledge much increased midweek, and the probability of mixing with those who speak other languages, you could delight in using your mental flexibility and dexterity whilst others may be alternately shocked and amazed by talents, they feel you`ve kept hidden.
Personal theme: I balance!!
Air & cardinal sign: September 23 — October 22
Your horoscope for this week:
Nobody would blame you for being uneasy about living with so many elements of your life undecided. However, with the current planetary emphasis on exploring your options, some familiar but others as unfamiliar as they are unexpected, the more you learn, the better. That way when your ruler Venus moves to accent decision-making, during August`s first week, you`ll be ready to move swiftly.
You try to see the best in everyone. You have always been trusting but not everyone is as honest or reliable as you are. Don`t go telling all the details of your most private hopes, intimate wishes and deepest desires to a stranger. Recognise when it might be better to hold back from baring your soul to them. Home is the place where you should allow your heart to rule your actions. Within the family, there is plenty of warmth and humour.
You could push your career forward in most interesting direction. Aspects involving planets associated with marketing and advertising are strongly placed. Tuning into the possibilities ought not to be too difficult. Yours is one of the air signs and normally you have a gift with words. Even so, it would be as well to check and doublecheck that you haven`t been careless (or too emotional) and that the message you want to get across is not masked either by error or too much colour, image or other distraction. There is strong possibility of renewed connexion with those who live and work far away. The costs of fulfilling an arrangement made some time back may now be too great to continue. It might also be that transport is difficult or even impossible to arrange.
Scorpio & Ophiuchus
Personal theme: I desire!!
Water & fixed signs: October 23 — November 21
Your horoscope for this week:
You don`t know as much as you think you do. That may sound insulting, especially to you as a Scorpio and somebody who`s both inquisitive and checks out facts in detail. However, you`re unaware of events or, perhaps, the manoeuvres of certain individuals because they`ve deliberately kept things in the background. Between your powerful instincts and a little questioning, you`ll figure out what`s going on.
There is little point going over and over the same argument. You can be very opinionated and you do feel strongly about something. Other people have equally as strong views and these may conflict. There is one issue in particular, where neither of you will change your mind. Agree to differ. Someone you recently met wants to get to know all about you. You might find their curiosity unnerving so watch what you say when you`re with newcomers and don`t give all your secrets away.
It wouldn`t be at all surprising if you are asked to help out with a marketing or advertising project. Your insights could be particularly helpful at the Mondays first quarter moon in your sign; and yes, others may be absolutely correct in sensing that you have gifts in this area. Your copyright skills could come to the fore midweek. Yet it`s also possible that you`re on collision course with someone who took over reins in the last couple of years but whom you feel is not up to the job. The job has itself probably changed of course in recent months. Now you might wonder exactly who is qualified and has the capabilities to work with revised limitations. It`s probable that you`ll soon be asked to support someone whose adventuring into a new area altogether. Again, they may be right to surmise that working with you would be rewarding.
Personal theme: I see!!
Fire sign: November 22 — December 21
Your horoscope for this week:
While you don`t mind sudden changes and, in fact, if things are boring you welcome them, what`s coming your way could seem overwhelming. The issue isn`t the actual events but that they`re taking you into unfamiliar territory. True, this means gathering information swiftly. Still, you`re restless, and ready for an adventure. The more you learn about what`s happening, the more excited you`ll be.
Matters being discussed behind closed doors will make themselves felt, on and off, for a while yet. You don`t mind carrying out conversations in private but you feel strongly that once a certain issue is finished with, you won`t want to refer to it again. It may take a while for you to feel comfortable in a new relationship but it is likely that new associations begun at this time will last well into the future.
By the time the Moon reaches your sign on Wednesday, you should be all systems go. You might need to be too. With others full of ideas and plans on Monday, but hitting what they believed to be brick walls on Tuesday, they might require you to recharge them. You could talk others round with relative ease. It helps that the Moon is waxing (becoming Full next Monday, Aug 3rd, and that most people will want to feel excitement. True, you could move to collision course and be accused of being impractical; and yes, this might require you to put in extra effort over the weekend to show that you are fully aware of what will be required and the very tight timescale for achieving an objective before your birthday.
Personal theme: I use!!
Earth & cardinal sign: December 22 — January 19
Your horoscope for this week:
When you need support or the wisdom of others, you can be a real team player. However, recent circumstances have been so restrictive and forced you to go along with others` decisions, and in so many settings, that you`re feeling restless if not just plain rebellious. So, start something, a plan or project, or possibly begin turning a long-neglected dream into reality. The timing couldn`t be better.
A sense of optimism is all set to grip you. You won`t do anything foolish but you do feel a cherished hope is coming close to realisation. You`re tempted to splash out on creature comforts. Occasionally, it can be fun to be impulsive and once the week gets underway you will be back to your sensible and cautious self. Attending a small party or celebration will be fun and you could soon be reconnecting with someone you knew years ago.
The Full Moon isn`t until next Monday yet you might wonder if it`s arriving early. It`s probable that others are full of ideas but once again be apparently blissfully unaware of how long certain tasks will take. Impracticality looks set to be a big issue. Not for the first time you`re likely to find yourself in leadership role. Though to some people it might seem that you put a dampener on everything, it is perhaps more accurate to say that you are cautiously optimistic and very realistic! In the first instance, you might suggest that certain individuals will have to move on. Difficult as it may be to prune, this may be necessary if the whole is to survive.
Personal theme: I know!!
Air & fixed sign: January 20 — February 18
Your horoscope for this week:
Obviously, you can`t plan ahead for the heightened feelings, both of promise and the doubts, triggered by the Aquarius Full Moon on 3 August; but you can begin tackling certain matters you`ve regarded as a source of concern. Some may be exactly that, issues that need to be tidied up. Others will be more complex, so much you`ll be relieved that, finally, you`re turned your attention to them.
A friend may need a helping hand or sympathetic ear. No matter how willing you are to provide either or both, recognise when to stop or you could end up achieving none of your own personal plans. Your instincts are reliable and you will be able to follow your hunches with success. Whether this relates to first impressions when you`re introduced to someone new or your feelings about a new project or proposal, your initial instinct will prove correct.
The Full Moon in your sign isn`t until next Monday, Aug. 3rd, yet you could both feel the effects early and others notice you moving into the limelight from midweek. What should now be clear, is that further alterations to the way in which you live and work will be necessary. Colleagues with whom you`ve work for a long time might now be ready to move on and explore fresh options. You might also be saddened to hear of lack of support from for at least one individual who has shown considerable loyalty in the past and whom you feel deserves better treatment now. It would be understandable if you felt the need to take a stand and support them. This though might also be the excuse needed for you to stand up and be counted and move on to do something of your own as well.
Personal theme: I believe!!
Water sign: February 19 — March 20
Your horoscope for this week:
Previously, you`ve been hurt by several unthinking individuals, mostly because they didn`t understand why you`re so passionate about certain matters. This issue`s about to arise again but now, you`re urged to discuss both your feelings about these, and your plans, and frankly. Once others are more aware of the nature of these situations and why you care, their attitude won`t just improve, they may actually be helpful.
If for any reason, you have to break a date, take your time to explain why. Rushed explanations will leave someone confused, bewildered and disappointed. People will admire your honesty. The less you deal with routine, and the more you get involved with things that are different to usual, the more fulfilled you will feel. You`re taking a practical and cautious view to money even though there will be a temptation to buy a little gift for yourself in the weekend.
Whilst you may feel you`ve plotted a satisfactory course as of Monday, be aware that you could yet hit rocks. The fact is that before next Monday`s Full Moon (Aug 3rd) many people will reach endings. Colleagues born under the Fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius appear particularly affected. Your natural sympathies will surely come to the fore. Yet you have much to offer both – especially when it comes to marketing, design and general makeover. You might also encourage colleagues to join a network. You could perhaps consider taking a little of your own advice, and even before the end of July, connect with a team of support workers whose assistance would be invaluable as you develop a new interest and perhaps, career path.
