Light A Candle Today!
In many different traditions lighting a candle is a sacred action. It expresses more than words can express. It has to do with gratefulness. From time immemorial, people have lit candles in sacred places. You may want to begin or end your day by the sacred ritual of lighting a candle on this gratefulness. Or you may want to light a birthday candle for a friend. One single guideline is all you need: Slow down and do it with full attention.

What’s Happening in May?

Birthday Flower for May: Lily of the Valley
May is National Salad Month

25: National Wine Day
27: Today is the birthday of Rachel Carson (1907), writer, ecologist, and marine biologist. Her courageous 1962 book Silent Spring alerted the world to the dangers of pesticide poisoning.
29: Memorial Day (originally called Decoration Day) is observed on the last Monday in May. Remembrance is symbolized by the red poppy.
30: National Creativity Day

June 5: Full Strawberry Moon

Dates of this calendar were devised by Robert Graves, 1895 – 1985

Goddess Month of Month of Hera begins 5/16 – 6/12
Celtic Tree Month Uath (Hawthorn) May 13 to June 9

The Moon Phase: Waxing Moon

Goddess Aspect: Maiden
Associated Goddesses: Artemis, Branwen, Eriu, Nymph, Epona
Magickal Attributes: Invoking Beginnings, New Projects, Ideas, Inspiration, Energy, Vitality, Freedom. Workings On This Day Are For “Constructive” Magick (Love, Wealth, Success, Courage, Friendship, Luck Or Health.)

Perform magic on waxing moons to attract a new quality or behavior, to increase the light within, to attain personal and spiritual growth and greater awareness. The quarter moon suggests a period of overcoming obstacles and continuing on the path to growth.

The card drawn for this week is the King of Pentacles.

The King of Pentacles appears at a time when you are feeling confident and successful in your ability to attract and manage wealth.

This is also a great time to translate your vision into something tangible. Map out your plan and gather your resources so you can manifest your goals.

Draw upon your self-discipline and control this week to help you manage your wealth and invest wisely for the long-term.

Ask the Tarot: How can I not only attract wealth but also maintain it in the long-term?

May 25, 2020 – May 31, 2020.

The word for the week is INTENSE. The beginning of the week is probably the most difficult because Mars in Pisces will sextile Uranus in Taurus, of course! It brings us grand innovations with a big helping of impulsiveness. Where we will lose the battle is if we are feeling restricted in any way. Like a shook soda bottle, the more we feel caged in, the harder it is to control our impulses, and this could lead to faulty actions. The key here – when in doubt, don’t. On Thursday, Mercury is going to move out of his own sign of Gemini and into watery Cancer. Sensitivity to our environment is going off the charts and our emotional connections with others heightened, especially with family members. During Mercury’s transit through Cancer, we need to rely on our gut instincts more than logic. Finally, we have the first quarter Moon this weekend in Virgo. Try to not get overcome with the details and stick to your plan. Keep things as simple as possible.

Coventry candles that will keep us steady and calm this week are Blessed Herbal Happy Home, Stability, Affirmation Tranquility, Chakra Magic Root Chakra Success.

Llewellyn’s Spell A Day

Crafting a Crown of Leaves
May 24, 2020 by Raven Digitalis

To increase your connection to the comforting earth, venture to a park, orchard, or other natural environment. Pick a leaf or two from various trees, whatever you feel called toward. Give thanks to each tree whose leaves you pluck.

After collecting a number of leaves, take a needle and thread and tie them into a circular band. Alternatively, you can get a hole punch and thread the leaves by hand with a cotton string.

In a sacred space, crown yourself with the leaves and envision their natural grounding energy seeping through your head and washing down your entire body. Perform any other earth-based magick or spellcraft at this time.

Be sure to keep your crown in a safe place, and remember to repeat this crowning whenever you are feeling particularly ungrounded in life.
Springtime Energy Boost
May 23, 2020 by Michael Furie

At this time of year, the weather is usually warm and the world can feel vibrant and alive. Despite the pace of life picking up, we can still feel sluggish. If that is the case, this potion can be a nice energy boost without caffeine.

You will need:
* 1 cup peppermint tea
* 1 cup apple juice
* 1 sprig fresh rosemary
* 1 cup club soda or seltzer water

Make the peppermint tea first and allow it to cool completely before combining it with the rest of the ingredients. Once everything is combined and poured into a cup, hold it in your hands and envision it being charged with orange light to fill it with energizing power. As you drink the potion and feel the bubbles, imagine that they are carrying the orange light to every cell in your body, bringing you increased energy.
New Moon Divination
May 22, 2020 by Tess Whitehurst

On this new moon, light a white candle in a holder on your altar. Relax, center your mind, and breathe deeply. Call on Selene, the Greek goddess of the moon. Imagine a pillar of energy move up from the crown of your head and (even though the new moon is physically invisible) consciously connect with Selene’s silvery glow. Feel and sense her cool, radiant light moving down the pillar, filling your entire body, and extending outward to form a cocooning sphere of moonlight.

Shuffle an oracle deck of your choice. When you feel ready, draw the top four cards, laying them down from left to right. The first card will provide guidance relevant to the first week of this lunar cycle, the second card to the second week, and so on. When the reading is complete, express gratitude to Selene. As the moon cycle progresses, remember each card as a guiding theme of the week. Be sure to extinguish the candle.
World Card Travel Spell
May 21, 2020 by Laura Tempest Zakroff

If you’re planning on going on a trip soon, tap into the blessings of the World card of the Tarot to make the most of your journey. The World card (number 21) represents the completion of the Major Arcana that started with the Fool card at zero, so knowledge has been gathered along the way.

Pull the World card from your deck (or print out an image of it) and situate it upon your altar for the duration of the trip. Say the following blessing (substitute we/our if others are traveling with you):

As I go on this trip, I ask the
World to guide my way,
May the path be clear and
blessed with joy each day.
Use your wisdom to keep
me safe and sound,
With the smoothest road always found.
Whether I journey high or journey low,
May I return to the home I know.
Igniting Abundance
May 20, 2020 by Melissa Tipton

While we often associate abundance strictly with favorable things, abundance is simply a large quantity of something. So instead of requesting general abundance, begin by choosing a specific quality, thing, or experience that you’d like more of. You’ll need three to five candles of any type in holders. Feel free to choose a color that matches your intention, such as green for money, pink for love, etc. Bring your focus quality to mind as you light the first candle, saying:

I ignite the quality of (fill in
the blank) in my life.

Breathe this quality in, then use the first candle to light the next, saying:

The quality of (fill in the blank)
expands within my life in a manner
that is perfect for me on all levels.

Repeat this process of breathing in the ever-expanding energy as you continue to light each candle from the previous one. When done, let the candles burn out naturally if possible.
Cutting Ties Spell
May 19, 2020 by Thuri Calafia

Sometimes in life, we end up in relationships that are not in our best interest. Cutting those ties can be challenging but necessary in order for us to become our best selves.

For this spell, you’ll need:
* 1 black candle for yourself
* 1 black candle for the person with whom you are cutting ties
* Candle holders
* A small knife or wooden pick
* A length of black thread or cotton string
* A blessed pair of scissors or small blade

On the candle representing the other person, use a small knife or wooden pick to carve symbols and words representing the behaviors that are no longer acceptable to you. On your personal candle, carve words or symbols describing how you feel when you’re around the person.

Place the candles in holders on your altar, then take the black thread and tie one end of it around each candle. Focus on the energies of the person as you light their candle. Speak honestly about the reasons you’re letting them go. When the energy peaks, take a blessed pair of scissors or small blade and cut the thread between you, saying:

I forgive you for the behavior that has
caused me such pain, but I am no
longer willing to accept any more of it!
Be gone from my life! So mote it be!
Message in a Bottle Spell
May 18, 2020 by James Kambos

To achieve a secret desire, try this spell. You’ll need a piece of paper, a pen, and a small clean bottle or jar with a lid. Any clean pill bottle or jar will do.

Write your wish (message) on the paper. Fold the paper and place it in the bottle, then put on the lid. Leave the paper in the bottle for three days. Meditate on your wish each day. On the third day, hold the bottle as you say this charm:

Inside this bottle, my
secret wish is sealed,
No one knows this desire I feel.
Now the time has come to pass,
My wish is released at last!

Remove the “message” from the bottle, and lay it upon your altar. The spell is released and now working in the unseen realm. When your wish comes true, thank the divine power. Discard the paper and keep the bottle for future use.

Heartwings Love Notes 931 Remembering the Garden of my Friends

Heartwings says, Friends are special gifts that life gives us to enjoy and cherish.”

Memorial Day brings to mind my dear ones who have passed me on the road to the larger life, where they have their next assignment–whatever it may be. I have pictures of them, both in my mind and in reality, where I can catch a glimpse of them as they once were. Occasionally, though especially when I’m engaged in a task in my kitchen, I catch a whisper from someone I loved dearly and still do. They come into my mind and I see them smile as they used to do when we were together. It is as if they are telling me they are happy and well.

There is a smooth stone on my coffee table inscribed with these words: “My friends are the loveliest flowers in the garden of my life.” I treasure it as a memento from someone special who lit up my life for a time a few years ago. We were near neighbors and saw one another almost every day. A brave and valiant woman, she was a wonderful example of positive aging. Though she had many difficulties and illnesses she scarcely ever complained and did the best she could to carry on in a cheerful fashion.

In my mind, while I am fixing dinner, I often hear another of my late friends with whom I had many phone conversations: “What are you having for dinner that’s good?” she would ask. We would chat about cooking and trade ideas. In my recipe collection I have one of hers written out in her own handwriting. When I make a recipe I was given by a late friend, it is especially tasty because of my recollection of its origin. How precious are the memories of those we have loved and now lost to time.

Memories of loving friends who have pasted on are such a treasure. They are a bouquet fragrant with the perfume blended from our combined experiences, the times we have shared, the gifts we have given one another. Memorial Day brings to mind many memories of my dear ones no longer within reach of the telephone or email. As I turn them over in my mind, I feel again the love we shared. I see again their smiles and welcoming arms and I have no doubt one day we will meet and share again.

May the memories you have of your dear ones comfort you and make you smile.

Blessings and Best Regards, Tasha Halpert

PS Do you have special memories of dear ones to share? Please do send them. I would love to read them, and your emails do truly make my day. Write me at and check out my web site for more Love notes and other things to enjoy

Making Acorn Ink – Instructions and Recipes by Dana

Acorn ink, derived from the mighty oak tree, can be a wonderful addition to your druid practice or art studio. Inks can be used for all manner of useful things, from drawing and artwork to the creation of sigils, writing in a druid’s journal, or engaging in other magical work. In this post, I’ll share a method for making an acorn ink as well as a rust garden (that you can use to strengthen the color of this and other natural inks, like walnut). I’m posting this now because I have found that acorns are best gathered for this not right after they drop, but after they’ve sat on the ground for some time (such as over the winter months). This is a way for you to use acorns pretty much year-round, connect deeply to the energy of the oak tree, and localize your practice.

Ink making was once a common practice before the advent of commercial inks. It was a sacred practice, for the arts of literacy and materials for drawing, writing, and painting were rare and hard to produce. Today, with the over-abundance of everything at the expense of nature, it’s wise to practice some of these older ways and reattune with the balance, wisdom, and joy of our ancestors. Ink making is actually quite simple and very rewarding and you will get colors that you can’t purchase commercially. If you are interested in this topic, you might also want to check out my earlier post on berry inks.

The Magic of the Oak

Oak trees are special, particularly to those in the druid tradition. The ancient druids did their rituals in groves of oaks. The ancient Irish considered the oak one of the seven sacred trees. Many cultures around the world venerated oaks, which we can see from the use in military symbols and coats of arms throughout the world. The oak is a symbol of strength, persistence, courage, wisdom, and honor.

Acorns from the Tree of Life

According to John Michael Greer’s Natural Magic Encyclopedia, Oak is “the preeminent tree of power in ancient symbolism” being of particular use to those who channel high levels of energy, for weather magic, and for earth magic. Acorns themselves are symbols of fertility in ancient times to the present. In the Ogham, Oak is represented by the word “duir”. In ancient Sanskrit, duir literally means “door”. Oaks, then, are not just symbols of strength but doorways to many other things (the inner worlds, worlds of spirit, new journeys, etc). It is tied with the time of midsummer. The oak has very strong wood and was often employed as the Yule Log (where the oak’s power would allow the light to return to the earth once again!) In the Hoodoo traditions, oaks is used to remove hexes or jinxes, usually through a wash. Oak galls (which you can also make ink with, also using iron) are specifically used in the hoodoo tradition to lend power to any other working. So you can see how having some oak ink might be a useful tool! What better opportunity to honor the sacred oak than by making some high-quality ink that can be used for drawing purposes, spiritual journaling, or magical uses.

Making your Ink

Making acorn ink is simple and requires a few basic ingredients and tools

Acorns, older are better
Something to crush your acorns with (mortar and pestle, hammer and plastic bag, etc)
Vinegar (preferably rust garden vinegar, see below)
Water to cover acorns

Gathering Acorns. I like to make acorn ink early in the spring. The reasoning here is simple–you can easily find last fall’s acorns, and whatever is left, wasn’t a viable food source nor will sprout. So you are using the true “castaways” from the oak–probably acorns that had a few worms, etc. I also find the ink is stronger if you are using older acorns. As always, ask permission to gather and make sure to leave an offering in thanks. To make about a cup of ink, you can gather 2 cups acorns (a cup of ink is a LOT of ink, just FYI!)

Crushing Acorns. After you’ve harvested your acorns, you will need to crush them. If you have a large mortar and pestle, this works great. You can also crush them easily by getting a thick plastic bag (like an old used feed bag) and using a hammer. Or just crush them up on a large stone. Make sure you save the small bits. The more that you crush, the more effective extraction you will get.

Crush up acorns and add them to a small pot with water

Cover acorns with water. Barely cover your acorns with water, just enough to fully cover them in a small pan. The more water you add, the less of an extraction you will have. So go for a small pot and barely cover them.

Soak overnight. Soak your acorns overnight if possible. While you don’t have to soak overnight, the ink is stronger and more potent if you do.

Simmer. You will want to simmer your acorn mixture for a few hours. It’s better to go long and slow than fast and quick. As you boil, keep a good eye on the water level. Early in my boiling, I might add a little water, but later on, especially in the last hour, I let the water boil off. The more it boils off, the more high-quality ink you will have.

Strain. Next, using a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth, strain your ink.

Acorn ink is finished boiling and ready to strain

Add Rust garden vinegar or regular vinegar. If you take the time to make a rust garden (highly recommended, see next section), you can add a few tablespoons of rust garden vinegar (about 3 tbsp per cup of ink) to your mixture. This darkens the color and helps preserve it. If you aren’t going to make a rust garden, you still will want to add a tablespoon or two of vinegar to help preserve your ink.

Storage. You can store it in a mason jar with a lid. I recommend keeping it in the fridge as it will last longer. You can keep it in the fridge for quite a while (several years). It is likely that over time, it will develop some bluish mold. Just get a strainer or a fork and remove the mold–the ink is still good.

Mold is a common occurrence with natural inks–just strain and keep using!

Optional: Making a Rust Garden

Making a rust garden is a way to improve the quality and color of your acorn ink (it also allows you to make oak gall ink and walnut ink; I’ll cover oak gall ink in an upcoming post). All that you need to start your rust garden are some rusty objects (like iron nails) and some vinegar (any kind will do). Gather up your rusty objects and cover them in vinegar. If you want to help speed it along, you can actually remove the objects, let them be exposed to oxygen for 24 hours, and then put them back in the vinegar vat. I find this to be a little tedious, so instead, I just shake up my rust garden every once in a while and let time do the work. You can start your rust garden in a mason jar. As the items continue to rust, the rusty bits get suspended in vinegar, eventually creating a beautiful dark brown shade. In a few months, you’ll have a very rusty, brown-black vinegar and it will be awesome for making natural inks!

However, this practice takes some time – at least 3-5 months–so keep that in mind. You can always make the ink, then store it in the fridge while your rust garden “grows” and then return to it later (that’s what I did in creating the ink shared in this post). Or you can start your rust garden now, and it will be ready for when this year’s batch of acorns drop in the fall. Be aware here that over time, the jar lid itself will actually rust away–you can see that already happening to my jar here. Thus, I recommend putting either a plastic lid on the jar or else a piece of plastic in between the lid and the jar can help preserve it over time (it will take a few years for the lid to rust away due to the corrosion of the vinegar). Not that I have ANY experience with this happening, haha!

If you use some of your rust garden, you can just add more vinegar and keep letting it rust further. Keep it on a shelf and then anytime you want to make natural inks like acorn, oak gall, or walnut, it will be ready for you!

Using your ink

Once you have your ink, it is ready to use! Here are just a few possibilities for using your ink:

Acorn ink dyed leather pieces in progress…these will be bag flaps for leather pouches.

Pen and ink: An old fashioned dip pen works great with this kind of ink, provided it is well strained. You can use your ink on journals, magical sigils, drawings, and so much more.
Sigils and other magical work. Consider saving this ink for a special purpose such as writing in your spiritual journal or making sigils.
Natural arts. You can do a lot of interesting things with such high-quality ink: ink drawings, ink washes, and more.
Leather and Wood dye. This ink will also dye a lot of surfaces (if you want to use it in this fashion, you’ll have to make large batches, which isn’t unreasonable in mast years when you can harvest abundant acorns). I’m experimenting now with it as a leather stain and its been great!

I hope this post inspires you to try to make some of your own acorn ink! I feel like acorn ink making is a great practice for the aspiring bard or druid!

PS: I hope you like the new look of the Druids Garden Blog! I’ve been using the same theme for so long, I thought a change was necessary. Blessings!

No Going Back
by Madisyn Taylor

Sometimes during our spiritual growth, we can feel as if we are going backward, rest assured you are not.

There are times when we feel that we are spinning our wheels in the mud in terms of our spiritual progress. This can be especially true following a period of major growth in which we feel as if we’ve gained a lot of ground. In fact, this is the way growth goes–periods of intense forward movement give way to periods of what seems like stagnation. In those moments when we feel discouraged, it’s helpful to remember that we don’t ever really go backward. It may be that we are at a standstill because there is a new obstacle in our paths, or a new layer to get through, but the hard work we have done cannot be undone.

Every step on the path is meaningful, and even one that seems to take us backward is a forward step in the sense that it is what we must do to move to the next level. In addition, an intense growth spurt requires that we rest for a time in order to fully integrate the new energies that have been liberated by our hard work. When we feel we are not making progress, we can encourage ourselves to take a moment to rest. We can meditate more, feed ourselves well, and get extra sleep. Before we know it, we will be spurred on to work toward the next level of our development, and this rest will make sense then as something we needed in order to continue.

Once the sun rises, it doesn’t go backward but instead follows its path in one direction. It may appear to stand still for a moment in time, or to move more slowly at some point or another, but really it is steadily moving forward on its path. We are the same way, and once we have moved through something we can never really go back. We may be resting or revisiting issues that seem old, and it’s natural to feel stuck, but in truth we are always taking the next important step forward on our path.

Are We Beseiged With Interdimensional Beings?
from Ghost Hunting Theories

“Interdimensional Beings.” Let’s go to Wikipedia to get an overview: There is a hypothesis called “Interdimensional hypothesis,” relating that UFOs, aliens, shadow people, crop circles, Bigfoot, and ghostly activity are all explained by the passage of beings from another dimension occasionally crossing into our dimension and being glimpsed.

I’ll be honest. When I first heard about this theory, I laughed. It’s a normal reaction when hearing such a “universal” view of ghostly activity. Then, I started reading more about it and considering it. Honestly, the concept of souls of the departed lingering as if their lives on Earth weren’t enough seemed equally as ludicrous. And, having witnessed shadow people and other apparitions, I have come to wonder if this is all we perceive of something crossing through one dimension and interacting with another.

Shadow people: When people report seeing a shadow person out of the corner of their eye, they turn and watch it, sometimes showing a startle as if it didn’t think you could see it and then just races away into full vanish. How?

Here’s how it would work – we are 3 dimensional, we put our finger on a photograph that is a 2-dimensional image. If that 2-dimensional being had thought and vision, he would see only that part that is in the 2nd dimension with him, length and width but not height. So, he’d see another of his own kind appearing and then (when we take our finger away) vanishing! So it would be with interaction between dimensions. Only the portion we perceive in our 3rd dimension would be visible for us and the rest of it would remain only visible for those in the next dimension. This gives a good explanation for the coming and going “out of thin air” and some of the qualities that are not quite like us, such as all black solid looking figure with no detail or sheer-see-thru apparition.

Ghosts: Some things explained by this theory include the lack of evidence of visitations, the difficulty capturing them, their ability to show up and then disappear suddenly, and the inability to capture on camera or recording device.

Locations: There are also some areas like Bennington Triangle that have a wide variety of events occurring on one place that make them seem likely portals for the dimensions. Skinwalker Ranch in Utah is another popularly cited location that supposedly opens “portals” to other dimensions.

Concepts: Taking the example of the 2-dimensional image and the 3-dimensional person, they exist in the same space (person holding a photograph or watching a TV) but the image has no height and consequently would not perceive such a thing because it is out of the realm of its capability, having no cognizance.

So this might be with man in his third dimensional incarnation – we cannot perceive the next dimension because we do not possess those attributes. Look at how just jumping on dimension turned us from a photograph to a person. Imagine if we had the cognizance and the depth of the next dimension? Our form here would seem utterly primitive. And so it is with near-death experiencers. They report the “real” world is the next one and this one is “fake” in comparison.

If the 2-dimensional photograph represents a non-intelligent/non-cognizant image of me in the third dimension, so could I in the third dimension cognitively and intelligently represent a version of me in the next dimension? That is how Heaven might be explained.

The next incarnation that adds a spiritual attribute to the concept of Sharon – like the 3-dimensional me adds physicality to the image version of me on a photograph. Each incarnation adds more understanding and more unlimited access to the universe. The 2-dimensional sits on a wall, the 3-dimensional flies around the earth, the next dimensional (omnipresent???).

Evidence: I’ve been considering some evidence recently that we might audibly hear the interference of two dimensions. Imagine Mr. Photograph in the 2-dimensional form – what if a 3-dimensional person puts their finger on their world. Mr. Photograph only seems length and width and realizes it’s like one of his own kind but he does notice two different things – 1. That this being came out of nowhere and left all of a sudden. 2. It is giving off a lot of heat compared to the other beings in their realm.

This kind of understanding might make it easier for us to discern when and how and even where other dimensions might be interfering with our own world. Phenomena is always the best indicator and, like those freaky shadow people with detail who come and go with no notice, we see red flags. Heed those red flags. We might not understand the other dimensions, but we might also come to understand when they are playing with ours.

Any way you look at the concept of interdimensional beings, I actually have it as one of the top of my list of explanations for phenomenon. I am more likely to believe that concept than souls being stuck here because they don’t know they’re dead or they unfinished business which I put further down my list.

Just some of the things attributed to being interdimensional include; UFOs, grey aliens, reptoids, shadow people, other types of aliens, Bigfoot, Yeti, ghosts, and pretty much anything not explained that is “phenomena.”

What do I think of it? Well, I have zero doubt there are other dimensions and since we do interact regularly with 2-dimensional images like television, there is no reason to think other dimensions don’t access ours or we interact with theirs.

The 2-dimensional photograph might not know we touched them or that they represent an image of someone we love, but we might play a similar role to another dimension – they can interact with us, but we are limited by physicality and 5 senses and are unable to process it except in right conditions when we get a glimpse. The 2-dimensional world can’t mess with us, but we can enter theirs and mess with it – burn a photograph, draw on a sketch, whatever – but it cannot come and mess with our world. So, it might be this way with interdimensional beings – they have the ability to affect and enter our world, but we cannot mess with theirs.

The plot thickens…

And some people take it to be a place of evil (rather ironic if this is the place of Heaven)

Herbal Lactation Cookies

Hey there new momma, you’ve got a lot on your plate right now, and worrying about your breastmilk supply need not be one of them. By bringing herbs traditionally used to support breast milk supply into your foods and beverages, you can benefit from the wisdom passed down from generations of mothers before us.*

This Herbal Lactation Cookie recipe features nutritive ingredients like almond flour, rolled oats, and dates, alongside fennel and anise – some of our favorite supportive galactagogue herbs. What’s a galactagogue? In herbalism, galactagogues are herbs that have been known to promote or increase the production of a mother’s milk supply.*

Good digestion is another factor in healthy lactation. Fennel and anise are delicious carminative seeds that also support digestion and provide relaxing properties to enhance the nursing experience for you and babe. Oats (Avena sativa) contain proteins, vitamins, minerals and trace elements that nourish the nerves, support the metabolism of fats, and uplift the spirit.*

For an added bonus, enjoy alongside a cup of Mother’s Milk tea, which has been widely used by breastfeeding moms for over four decades. The ingredients fennel seed, anise seed, fenugreek seed, and blessed thistle herb are all galactagogues and have a long history of use to support breast milk production for nursing mothers.*

These cookies are great as is, but feel free to have fun decorating with edible flowers like these borage and violet petals or dust with a sprinkling of freeze-dried raspberries for a pop of color. Make a simple sugar icing like we have done here by mixing together powdered sugar with liquid of your choice like water, milk, or lemon juice until you’ve achieved your desired consistency. Brush the icing onto the cookies and leave to dry as-is or gently place edible flowers and toppings on the wet icing to act as a “glue.”

Herbal Lactation Cookies

Servings: Makes approx. 32 cookies, serving size 2-3 cookies
Time: 6o minutes

¾ cup butter (1 ½ sticks)
½ cup brown sugar
¼ cup white sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups almond flour (blanched)
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp anise seed
1 tsp fennel seed
1 ¾ cups rolled oats
½ cup finely chopped dates (about 10)
Optional Toppings: Thinly sliced almonds, powdered sugar, edible flowers, freeze-dried fruit

In a mixer bowl, cream together the butter, sugar and brown sugar.
Add eggs and vanilla, blending until smooth.
Add baking soda, salt, cinnamon, anise and fennel seeds.
Add almond flour, one cup at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Add rolled oats and chopped dates.
Refrigerate dough for 30 minutes or more for best results. Dough can be frozen and baked as needed.
Preheat oven to 350F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper. Drop cookies in tablespoon rounds and top with a few almond slices if desired. Bake 11-13 minutes.
Once cooled, add optional toppings. To help toppings adhere to the cookies, make a simple sugar icing by mixing powdered sugar with water or citrus juice until you’ve achieved your desired consistency. Place toppings on the wet icing and let dry.

(From Santa’s Workshop (Jan B))

by Stephen Halpert

It was a warm summer night. Dan Kirby and his wife Amber set aside their towels, kept their covid masks in place and gingerly climbed into their neighbor’s oversized hot tub. The hot tub party was well underway. Close to a dozen masked nude guests in the tub gawked at one another and chatted convivially.

Amber felt reluctant about being nude. Waves of modesty washed through her, and she crouched down low in the tub. Then she realized that because she was wearing a mask, probably no one could see who she was.

As he watched a masked man with as large belly grope the ample frontage of his wife Dan felt envious. She smiled lovingly, accepting and encouraged him with soft coy moans.

“You forgot, didn’t you?” Amber Kirby suddenly exclaimed. Her voice pulled Dan out of his nudist fantasy.

“Picking up the envelopes and dropping them off at Jan’s like I asked you to do this morning before you went out.”

His mind was muddled, and there amidst a tub full of naked humanity this morning’s errand was thousands of light years away. “I don’t remember. But if I did forget I’m sorry.”

She ignored that and said emphatically, “Then how’s she supposed to get the minutes in the mail to the other members if she hasn’t the envelopes? I know this doesn’t seem like such a big deal to you…”

“Oh, it’s a big deal. You’re bringing anything up like this is always a big deal.” He started to say something sarcastic about what Jan could do with the envelopes. But he caught himself in time, knowing it would only further provoke Amber. “Like I said, I’m sorry. We can stop and pick some up on our way home.”

Lines of worry and concern invaded her face. Her eyes dampened. She felt like she was witnessing her usual battle: pitting her life’s sensibilities against those pleasures Dan always insisted upon, despite what she had on her plate.

Finally, she said. “I wish you’d write things down.  That way you wouldn’t forget. That’s why I keep lists and I hardly forget anything.”

The man with a belly bigger than Dan’s pressed closer against his wife’s formidable frontage. She sighed deeply and Dan sensed how appreciative she was of his intense attention. Big belly moved her against the side of the hot tub and crouched slightly, his hands disappearing underwater. She closed her eyes, wiggled and started giggling.

Several other couples climbed into the hot tub. A masked woman with sculpted Hollywood cheekbones toked on a joint then passed it to the brunette beside her.

“A first!” Dan smiled. “Pot liberation, ho!”

“What?” Amber said. From where she was crouching, she could hardly see. Finally, she stood up and looked around.

“The movie star over there who just passed a joint.” Dan grinned and subtly pointed her out.

Amber looked and frowned. “She’s not a movie star, she owns a cleaning service here in town. Her husband’s a contractor.” Then she looked at him even more seriously.  “Be careful about taking a toke. I’m not sure how well pot mixes with a hundred plus degree of steaming water, so please don’t smoke until after we get out.”

“Sure, whatever you say.”

Besides, I can’t help but feel bad for all those people still in prison who broke pot laws while we get to sit around and smoke. Life somehow doesn’t seem fair.”

“No one ever said it was.” He tried making light of it. “Just a different kind of hot water, I guess, wouldn’t you say?”

Amber wrinkled her nose. “Oh please. That wasn’t a bit funny.”

After their being together for as long as they had, Dan had come to realize it was better just to agree and accept Amber’s trivial ultimatums than argue against whatever she was insisting upon at the time.

He grinned. “I thought it was kinda funny.”

“Not to me,” she said staunchly. “You wouldn’t either if you were serving time.”

He looked at her and sighed. Even after all these years her nudity prompted his desires. She was so delectably thin, a sprite with eyes full of life, her little girl breasts appealing, beckoning. He reached to kiss her but she frowned and squirmed away.

“Please Dan not here. Wait until we’re home. I hardly know any of these people.”

He sighed and reluctantly acquiesced.  Once again he accepted her edict.

“Promise on our way home we’ll stop and pick up the envelopes,” she said?”

He tried to contain his anger. Finally, he half shouted.  “Is that all you can think about?? Those damn envelopes! Just for once can’t you let go of daytime responsibilities and get into some spontaneous nighttime fun with me?”

She kept her voice contained and said very slowly. “I am with you. Don’t you see that? We’re here.  I’m just not especially demonstrative amongst stoned lecherous strangers.”

“Are you calling me lecherous?”

That made her smile.

The moans from the woman with the prize-winning frontage demanded Dan’s attention even more. He watched as she squirmed and stretched like a cat against the side of tub. Her hands grasped pot belly’s shoulders, her fingers digging into his pudgy flesh.

Dan’s voice tightened. “Believe me if you were so inclined, we’d be right there beside them.”

She frowned. “And now you’re thinking of me as up tight and rigid?”

“No just obsessed. This time obsessed by the envelopes. You always manage to obsess over something.”

For a moment she looked as though she was about to burst into tears, her face flushed and her expression terribly sad. Then she sighed and said softly. “I hope we can agree to disagree. Please Dan, don’t be mean and unkind.  I thought we were having a nice time.”

He felt his blood pressure surge up his arms. Knowing she wouldn’t understand, instead of trying to explain he breathed to calm himself. “Never mind Amber. Just never mind.”

There was a loud cry from pot belly. Dan turned in time to see his body flop around then go limp His hands fell away from his wife’s body. His eyes flew wide then glazed over. “Jerry,” His wife cried as he slid away from her down into the hot tub.

Dan rushed over, reached into the water, got hold of him and pulled his body up. He ripped off his mask. “Breathe,” he said. “Breathe.” He turned to the other guests “Get a doctor,” he cried, “he’s passed out.”

Several guests helped Dan lift him out of the hot tub.

Someone said, “I’ve called 911,”

His wife was dazed, horribly confused. Amber went to her, comforted her as she helped her out of the tub and wrapped a towel around her.

After the ambulance left and they had gotten dressed, Amber asked Dan: “Ready to go home?”

He nodded. “Drug store’s still open.”

“That’s ok, it can wait.” She touched his shoulder and gently kissed him. “We can pick them up tomorrow during the daylight. Now let’s just go home and be together.”

From the top of a mountain, we are able to witness life from a different perspective bringing us a new awareness.

Mountains have always captured our imaginations, calling us to scale their heights, to circle and worship at their feet, and to pay homage to their greatness. Mountains can be seen from thousands of miles away, and if we are lucky enough to be on top of one, we can see great stretches of the surrounding earth. As a result, mountains symbolize vision, the ability to rise above the adjacent lowlands and see beyond our immediate vicinity. From the top of the mountain, we are able to witness life from a new perspective–cities and towns that seem so large when we are in them look tiny. We can take the whole thing in with a single glance, regaining our composure and our sense of proportion as we realize how much bigger this world is than we sometimes remember it to be.

Mountains are almost always considered holy and spiritual places, and the energy at the top of a mountain is undeniably unique. When we are on top of a mountain, it is as if we have ascended to an alternate realm, one in which the air is purer and the energy lighter. Many a human being has climbed to the top of a mountain in order to connect with a higher source of understanding, and many have come back down feeling stronger and wiser. Whenever we are feeling trapped or limited in our vision, a trip to our nearest mountain may be just the cure we need.

There’s a reason that mountain views are so highly prized in this world, and it is because, even from a distance, mountains remind us of how small we are, which often comes as a wonderful relief. In addition, they illustrate our ability to connect with higher energy. As they rise up from the earth, sometimes disappearing in the clouds that gather around them, they are a visual symbol of earth reaching up into the heavens. Whether we have a mountain view out of our window or just a photograph of a mountain where we see it every day, we can rely on these earthly giants to provide inspiration, vision, and a daily reminder of our humble place in the grand scheme of life.

Weekly Horoscope: May 24, 2020
Georgia Nicols

Please note: Mercury will be retrograde from June 18 to July 12. However, there are buffer times because Mercury slows down ahead of time; then afterwards, it takes time to catch up to where it was at when it went retrograde. The buffer times are June 4 to July 27. Mercury retrograde is a poor time to initiate new projects. It’s also a poor time to buy cars, trucks, motorcycles and bikes; computers and cell phones. This info will help you to initiate things now or wait. Nevertheless, Mercury retrograde times are excellent to finish old business! (Like frantically squeezing grapes into an empty wine bottle two minutes before the Big Wine Tasting Competition.)

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Your focus on home and family continues this week; however, there will be more emphasis on family discussions and making plans. Many of you will tackle home repairs and DIY projects. Fortunately, Venus is in the part of your chart where it sweetens your words and makes you charming and diplomatic. This will be handy if you need to cajole others to help you in your projects. Naturally, you will run the show because you’re the general! You’re comfortable giving orders and delegating work to others. “I am Star Command!” Meanwhile, you’re happy being behind the scenes right now. (Maybe even plotting something?)

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

Your busy pace continues! In fact, you will be even more busy this week because you will be talking to more people, and perhaps travelling more or taking short trips. Group discussions will take place and you will enjoy meeting meet new people. This will be a good week to gather information about something that you need to know. Get background data and discuss possibilities. Stay flexible because life is a changing landscape right now. Meanwhile, you will still attract money to you. (Yes!) And you will still want to spend money on beautiful things for yourself and loved ones. Many of you are collectors, and you love antiques.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Your focus is still on money, cash flow, earnings and dealing with your possessions. You might be concerned with some business or commercial affairs more than usual this week because there will be discussions about money. Some of you will have moneymaking ideas, as well. This is likely because in addition to Mercury being in your Money House, Mars is at the top of your chart arousing your ambition. Powerful combo! Plus, lucky Jupiter is in the House of Wealth from others. This is also an excellent time to buy wardrobe goodies but if you have to shop online – that’s challenging. (There’s a thin line between looking indie and looking homeless.)

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

The Sun is still in your sign boosting your energy, and now Mercury moves into Cancer as well! Ta da! With Mercury in your sign (Mercury is all about communication and how you talk and think), you will be talkative! You will also be able to put a great deal of yourself into whatever you say. (At least up to your elbows.) Your mind will be active and you will also have a better ability to examine yourself with greater objectivity. Naturally, you will want to get out and travel because Mercury likes to be on the move! Although your mind will be fast moving – it will also be clear, which will allow you to accomplish a lot. (I’m impressed.)

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

Last week, I mentioned the Sun is hiding in your chart, which means this is a good time for you to formulate goals for your new year ahead, which will begin when the Sun enters Leo on Wed. July 22. Goals give you a clearer focus on what’s important. They also give you more clarity in your decision-making. They give you better control over your future and certainly, give you a sense of purpose. Because Mercury is joining the Sun in this hidden part of your chart, you will be happy to go off by yourself and study or do research. You’re not being antisocial – it’s your preference. Nevertheless, fair Venus is in your House of Friendship encouraging you to be friendly with others and involved in groups. Friendship will promote love and love will promote friendship.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Last week the Sun introduced an influence that makes you popular! This week your popularity is heightened even more because now Mercury is on the scene. Specifically, it will attract younger people into your world and boost your communications with others. It will encourage you to examine your attitudes toward a group. This is a good time to think about goals and to examine whether or not you’re happy with your goals. Meanwhile, Venus is creating favourable circumstances for your business life or your career and your public image. You might find yourself suddenly involved in artistic matters like design, layout work, office redecorating or landscaping. (Mars is still opposite your sign, so be patient with loved ones.)

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

You’re still looking mahvelous dahling, especially to bosses, parents and VIPs because you are captured in the flattering spotlight from the Sun at the top of your chart. This week Mercury joins the picture, encouraging you to make plans for your professional life. Mercury will also encourage you to study something new that will help your career. Mercury will encourage conversations with bosses, parents, employers and people who can help you. Venus continues to promote your love of beauty and potential romance with someone “different.” Venus also wants you to take a vacation – maybe not possible, but you can dream, can’t you?

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Your desire to broaden your horizons through adventure, study and travel will become even stronger this week because Mercury is moving into that part of your chart to join the Sun! Now you are really keen to study because you want to take a larger view of things and see how everything fits together. Details related to foreign places, the law, philosophy and astrology will intrigue you. Naturally, this increased curiosity will make you want to travel – maybe you can; maybe you can’t. In either case, something will happen that broadens your scope of things, making you more tolerant of different opinions. This is so important because as everyone on Facebook is saying, “Although we’re all in the same storm, we’re not all in the same boat.”

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

This is a lovely time to relate to others because fair Venus is opposite your sign, which makes all your closest relationships easy-going and smooth. This is good thing because the placement of your Sun intensifies your passion about everything. And this week, Mercury joins the Sun to amplify this intense focus! You want to discover deep, psychological truths about yourself. This is why you will enjoy intellectual encounters with others that might have a profound effect upon you. You might discuss sex or mortality. (We’re not talking weather.) You’re also concerned with negotiations about finances and property, which is not surprising because increased chaos and activity on the home front are par for the course.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

You still need to get more sleep and more rest. Respect your need for this because this will continue until mid-July. (Yawn.) This week Mercury moves opposite your sign, which gives you a beautiful opportunity to clarify and explain issues to someone. It will also help you discuss difficulties that come up in an intimate relationship, especially because you will have more detachment and objectivity to see things. In fact, this objectivity will help you to weigh the benefits of signing or entering into contracts and negotiations. Meanwhile, Venus continues to benefit your health and your job with the exception of overindulgence in sweets and desserts. Yummers!

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

You’re still gung ho to work hard and get better organized, which is a wonderful thing. This week Mercury adds to this influence, which means you will love to be absorbed in all kinds of mental work. You’ll find it easy to be attentive to detail. You will be concerned with using the best techniques to do something. You will be more of a perfectionist. You will certainly enjoy planning and making lists. This is also great week to sit down with someone (or a group) and discuss problems that exist. (Don’t criticize others.) Fortunately, the placement of Venus makes you friendly and lighthearted, so you will be smooth. (You can be right or you can be in a relationship.)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

You have lots of energy because fiery Mars is still in your sign until the end of June. Enjoy this boost because it won’t return again for two years. Meanwhile, you want to play! That’s because both the Sun and Mercury are in the part of your chart related to the arts, sports, vacations, playful activities with kids and romance. Yes, it’s time for fun! You especially want to use your mind for amusing pastimes like reading, writing and playing games that require mental agility. You’ll be more prankish than usual and might want to play a joke on an unwitting friend. Don’t feel you have to justify things with a practical motive. It’s okay to lighten up and enjoy your life! (“When this quarantine is over, let’s not tell some people.”)

Weekly Horoscopes beginning Sunday, 24 May 2020

If you`re born within cusp period (16 to 26 of any month); you`re advised to read horoscopes of both signs covered by that period. You`re in the border; you may have influences from houses within those signs.

Outlines are longer versions; consists of every possible detail of everyday and based on three parts of each sign: 1st, 2nd & 3rd Decan; that is, any of three divisions of 10° within a sign of the zodiac. Even if you know or don`t know your Decan; I recommend, please read all three Decan.

Personal theme: I am!!
Fire & cardinal sign: March 21 — April 19

Your horoscope for this week:

In mid-May your ruler Mars moved into the most reflective, and strategic, portion of your chart. Its stay there, until late June, focuses your attention on a range of issues you`ve been studiously avoiding. However, what you`re currently learning is of increasing interest. True, these issues are challenging; but the resulting insights will benefit you now and, even more, over the years to come.

You haven`t been happy with the way a colleague has been pushing things under the carpet. When you discover another batch of neglected correspondence or paperwork, this will be the straw that breaks the camel`s back. You`ll be devoting a lot of your time to catching up on neglected odds and ends. You won`t mind helping someone out when they need you but with you already having a busy schedule, you might wish they`d chosen a more convenient time to get themselves in a pickle.

It`s entirely possible that in recent weeks you have unearthed a most efficient sub personality whilst also learning those whom you thought were organised are anything but. This clash of perceptions is set to continue. Finding order and method, and ensuring that precious items are treasured in a way that works for you, will likely be priority. Passion for research and preservation is highlighted. Property matters may have stalled however. These will likely gather pace in August. Irritating as this may be, it surely affords the opportunity to consider exactly what you need to get by – and what really should be released into the care of others when Saturn returns to Capricorn in July.

Personal theme: I have!!
Earth & fixed sign: April 20 — May 20

Your horoscope for this week:

Tempting as it is to focus in finding ways to restore the losses created by recent disillusioning situations, for now, do nothing. That may seem unwise. New and better options are coming your way, however, you`ll neither spot nor respond to them if you`re still dwelling on the past. Altering your focus won`t be easy, but the results will justify the effort required.

You would normally choose stability and routine over change but suddenly you feel an urge to rearrange a few aspects of your life. An offer or opportunity will seem too good to miss. Others will be surprised to see you jumping in with both feet. It isn`t often you don`t think about the consequences of your actions. There are people you would rather didn`t get to hear about what you are doing. There is plenty time to make a public announcement.

The emerald green (your colour) comet, Atlas, is streaking through the solar system. It was first seen at the end of December just as Covid-19 was recognised. It is expected to pass through Earth`s orbit in late May and June. Some authorities say that it will even be visible in daylight. From ancient times comets have been seen as indicators of fast-moving developments (not always for the good). Though unlikely to be in a position to implement all your plans until Jupiter arrives at the apex of your solar chart at the end of the year, a project worked on in your research and development – and very much in keeping with the times – may be one way of you displaying new-found entrepreneurial zeal.

Personal theme: I think!!
Air sign: May 21 — June 20

Your horoscope for this week:

After a puzzling and often tricky period, between the Sun`s move into Gemini on last Wednesday the 20th and the New Moon on your sign on Friday the 22nd, both your energy and your clarity were both massively improved. Now, that fresh perspective indicates both your past efforts are coming good and intriguing new offers (missing word?). For now, focus on exploration. Decisions? Wait until you know more.

Relationships in the family are unpredictable. You just don`t know where you stand when a relative who has always been there for you suddenly withdraws their support. You`re making good progress with a difficult assignment but you still have a long way to go before you can shout eureka. Don`t get distracted. In order for you to achieve the success you desire; you must stay focused on your goals despite the difficulties we are labouring under at the moment.

Planetary activity in your sign is exceptional. You know that Venus is already retrograde in your sign. Boosted by the recent New Moon and Mercury`s presence in Gemini and activity brought by the transit of Comet Atlas (presently passing through the Earth`s plane), mentally you will likely be in overdrive. It will surely be necessary to give especial care to your nervous system which may be firing in too many directions – prompted by there being too many tasks left unfinished. Being overwhelmed would be understandable. Yet with assistance and support – most likely from Leo or Sagittarius friends, you could streamline these as though you were an air traffic controller determining which plane to land first.

Personal theme: I feel!!
Water & cardinal sign: June 21 — July 22

Your horoscope for this week:

Your instincts are reassuring you that the elements of your life that are changing, if not coming to an end, are in your best interests. Still, you could easily allow concerns about what`s next to descend into bouts of worry. Those welcome events can`t be rushed. In the meanwhile? Focus on decluttering your life, especially of possessions linked to the past. The timing couldn`t be better.

You aren`t pleased with a friend`s forgetfulness especially when they fail to remind you of something important. Don`t let the frustrations and annoyances of life under the present circumstances blind you to what is genuinely important in life. OK so some things may have to go by the board or postponed indefinitely; that doesn`t mean you have to look around for someone to blame. Patience, courage and a determination to win through at all costs are your greatest assets now.

Your imagination may be in overdrive. This isn`t necessarily a bad thing. That aid, it`s arguable that you have too much concern about what`s going on in other people`s lives and are less focused on your own. With Venus retrograde in an area of your solar chart considered delicate, you might really need to pull down your shell and do your hermit bit – at least for the first half of the week. Others though may be knocking hard on the surface. They likely need to talk through their plans with you. Of course, it might seem that the cosmos is continuing to laugh at all of these. Yet you wouldn`t be alone in thinking that to build a positive future you first have to imagine it; and yes, that is perhaps something you need to do firstly in seclusion, and then in partnership with someone who doesn`t scoff at this approach.

Personal theme: I will!!
Fire & fixed sign: July 23 — August 22

Your horoscope for this week:

The good news is you`re in line for a series of amazing ideas or offers, some as unexpected as they are exciting. The not so good news is taking advantage of these means undoing arrangements you`ve regarded as settled. While, inevitably, this process will be disruptive, the more you explore, the clearer it will be that the benefits of changes far outweigh any temporary disarray.

There could be serious consequences if you go against the directions of those who believe they know best. All the same, you should not be expected to do anything that goes against your conscience even if this does mean stirring up the wrath of others. If someone owes you money or you`re waiting for a grant or some other legal payment, you will not have much longer to wait. In important discussions, stick to the facts and refuse to budge.

In late March, Saturn moved into your opposite sign.. Already it might seem that those closest to you are carrying heavy weights. Their sense of responsibility could draw you down as well. It might be all too easy to get caught up in wars of words. Miscommunications are more likely than not – and this is even before Mercury turns retrograde next month. Care will be needed if long-term damage is not to be done. It`s likely important to keep a clear paper trail of conversations. Resolving misunderstandings will be possible – presumably after Venus finally leaves Gemini in early August. Until then, finding new ways of working with others continues to take priority. In this respect, don`t underestimate the gift and power of telepathy.

Personal theme: I analyse!!
Earth sign: August 23 — September 22

Your horoscope for this week:

As a Virgo, you rarely make plans and, still less, changes without knowing what`s involved and, as important, the results you`ll get; but with pivotal elements of your life, world – or both – in transition, guarantees of that nature aren`t easy to come by. The solution? Patience, and getting others involved. They, too, are struggling with this lack of information. For now, regard yourselves as a team.

You long to get away from it all but you`ve got too much to do. Some good news concerning a secret wish will lift your spirits. A job offer or creative opportunity will give you something exciting to look forward to. Use your natural common sense to deal with the unexpected problems lockdown and social distancing are bringing. Someone who was trusted with an important responsibility isn`t up to the job. You could give them some practical help.

The First Quarter Moon is in your sign on May 30th. This event is preceded by the Gemini New Moon (Friday 22nd). Normally, for Virgos this would be a time to focus on improving efficiency. This year, with Venus retrograde at the apex of your solar chart, it might first be necessary to unravel a tangle. You might also wish to renew contact with someone you worked with – albeit unhappily – in the past. It may be that new lines of communication can be forged though agreed, you perhaps can`t set these fully in motion some months yet. This could be a time to reboot confidence levels by accepting that though you did your best in the past, there are yet other avenues you can explore having first had the experience of apparent failure. As you can read in many biographies, success very often follows earlier failure.

Personal theme: I balance!!
Air & cardinal sign: September 23 — October 22

Your horoscope for this week:

True, recent surprising revelations about certain arrangements or, possibly, individuals you`ve been excited about were disappointing. Still, you`re better off knowing the full facts now. Tempting as it is to try to restore things as they were, instead, wait and watch. What you learn about the matters in question, and your own blind spots, will be helpful now, and revolutionise your approach to life itself.

Joint finances will be a focus of your thoughts making it hard to sleep at night. After reviewing where you went wrong, you might decide you are under insured or you are paying out on something that hasn`t any worth or value. You want to feel useful and that`s why you aren`t planning on wasting any time doing nothing. You`re thinking of the future, planning ahead and finding ways to inspire others to work with you towards a special goal.

Your ruling planet, Venus, continues retrograde motion in another of the Air signs. Simultaneously, Mars moves through one of the Water signs. These cosmic vibrations could feel uncomfortable. Mars transits an area of your solar chart associated with health and daily routine; putting accent on the need for careful daily maintenance. This though would surely be so much easier once your mind is in tranquil state. This should be your top priority. Getting rid of thoughts and items that have negative value is always a good idea but this week should prove particularly therapeutic. Indeed, by the time that Mercury arrives the apex of your solar chart next Friday, you may have undertaken sufficient space-clearing to identify possibilities and options that have been obscured for too long.

Scorpio & Ophiuchus
Personal theme: I desire!!
Water & fixed signs: October 23 — November 21

Your horoscope for this week:

Thrilling as recent events, ideas or offers may have been, they were as sudden as they were unexpected. That, alone, worries you. What`s more, getting involved not only means making changes, but venturing into arenas or activities as unfamiliar as they`d be unsettling. Recently, however, you`d been a bit bored. What`s arisen may be the solution you`ve been hoping for, if in a completely unanticipated form.

The support and encouragement you get from others during lockdown will be particularly helpful if you are learning new skills or hoping to develop your talents. Their faith in you will give you the confidence you need to add to your qualifications. Any attempts to broaden your experience through travel, training or study will have to go on a back burner for a wee while. Burning the candle at both ends will take a toll on your health. Eat nutritious food and get more rest.

Yours is said to be one of the negative signs of the Zodiac. That doesn`t mean to that you think negatively but yes, it`s arguably true you look first for the bottom line and then move upward from it. That trait should serve you well in these last days of May. before next weekend you could identify a knowledge, gap and find ways to fill it. Enthusiasm for history and for archiving will likely continue. Neither would it be surprising if you were attracted to an old craft. Hold the thought that the present cosmic conditions won`t continue forever.. True, the virus could come back and haunt us again next year. That should not diminish your long-term aims – though true it may be early August before you feel to be pushing please forward. It`s worth noting that very often Scorpios are energised through anger. A display of irritation midweek could provide just the fuel you need.

Personal theme: I see!!
Fire sign: November 22 — December 21

Your horoscope for this week:

For ages you`ve been wrestling with a bizarre mix of setbacks, some truly surprising, and unexpected ideas or offers. Tempting as it is to shore up those troublesome situations, let them go. Those that are meant to survive, will; and the rest of your time? Explore every new idea and offer that comes your way. By early June`s Sagittarius eclipsed Full Moon, you`ll be glad you did.

Background developments will bring some tension. There is a lot of gossip in the air. If what people are saying is true, this could mean it`s time to make some changes. There are times when you respect the need for confidentiality. You also like everything to be open and above board. If you sense there`s something secret going on that everyone should know about you won`t stop in your effort to discover the true facts.

These are most decidedly challenging times. The presence of Mars at the very base of your solar chart, and Venus, retrograde in your opposite sign, is an uneasy combination. You might wonder if others really understand you and what you`re going through. Yours is the sign of the adventurer and being restricted in any way is likely harder for you than for many. It is arguably essential that you find mental adventures and challenges. Stretching your limbs is imperative. Indeed, without this exercise, midweek could prove stressful. What may be super helpful, and come about through connecting with someone either working in health or perhaps born under Virgo, is developing an exercise routine that is as mentally challenging as it is physical. With this underway you could find the necessary energy to tackle an archiving project that`s long overdue for attention.

Personal theme: I use!!
Earth & cardinal sign: December 22 — January 19

Your horoscope for this week:

As a thorough, and cautious, Capricorn you`d never plunge into a plan, agree to an offer or begin a relationship without being very sure what`s involved. However, this week and, in fact, the period in the run up to early July`s eclipsed Full Moon in your sign is about exactly this variety of unsettling yet, ultimately, worthwhile twists and turns. Explore everything. You won`t regret it.

The socially distanced helpfulness and generosity of a new friend or neighbour might come as some surprise.. It`s not often you`re on the receiving end of such kindness. If you`re single, it will be qualities such as loyalty and compassion that mean more to you than how much money a potential partner makes. A family matter is making you nervous. If you`re worried about an older relative`s extravagance, spill out what is on your mind.

You won`t be the only sign to identify knowledge weakness. This isn`t necessarily your own. It may be that you could usefully guide someone into a fresh learning stream. True, this action would probably interrupt a routine to which you have become accustomed. Before the weekend that you might even feel that this involvement brings a level of responsibility that is uncomfortable. See this is a temporary condition with the potential for long-term reward. With planetary emphasis moving to the Water signs of Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces, it may be an individual under one of these signs looks to you for mentoring and gains much through the process. This collaboration could bring particular reward in a few years` time.

Personal theme: I know!!
Air & fixed sign: January 20 — February 18

Your horoscope for this week:

Ordinarily, you`re the first to spot where changes are needed but, even more, where promising ideas and events are bubbling up. Yet now, everybody seems thrilled by events that mystify you. That`s because others are focusing on a new version of old, if not completely out-dated, arrangements. You needn`t bother with these, but you are urged to learn more about those new ideas you`ve been resolutely ignoring.

You aren`t happy with a situation that is causing a lot of contention. It`s going to get worse unless someone steps in and eases the tension. Although you can see this argument from both sides it`s important to be objective when encouraging two warring parties to resolve their differences. When you are tied up with social and work matters you might forget to inform your partner of a change of plans. Once your schedule is clear, make them your priority..

It could easily feel as though you`re being buffeted this way and that by winds that are relentless, unceasing and at times, intolerable; and yet: yours is one of the Air signs. Though turbulence and lack of control is undeniably disorientating, we know that the planets move on. Venus is retrograde for 40 days; concluding that journey at the end of June. This should be a good time frame to practice mindfulness and meditation. Note too that you`re likely to find it easy to tune into new wavelengths and quite probably, new languages. The way in which you soak up information could yet take you by surprise. By the end of May, you might decide that as soon as practical, that you will enrol on a course of more serious study.

Personal theme: I believe!!
Water sign: February 19 — March 20

Your horoscope for this week:

The last thing you want to do is upset anybody; but your take on certain arrangements that others regard as promising, if not the solution for longstanding issues, is unenthusiastic. That`s because these ideas don`t click with you, as an individual. Even more, you`re focusing on certain increasingly pressing practical matters. These may be dull. Still, if they aren`t already your priority, they should be.

A relative will step in and help you out of a dilemma. They could have told you that you`ve made your bed and now you should lie in it but this isn`t their way. You will be grateful for their help and because they aren`t reminding you that they told you so, you can learn a lot from their example. You crave travel and long to explore unfamiliar territory; but you can`t get away so look for ways to satisfy your wanderlust without leaving your own four worlds. Tricky, but not impossible for you.

There are times when it seems easier to look into a well of despair than consider future promise. There may be several times this week when you need to do precisely that. This might even have therapeutic value. Yes, it is possible you could overdramatise – particularly in the early part of the week. A strong possibility is that your nerves are frayed. Recall that there is a very definite clash between Mars, moving through your sign, and Venus being retrograde in another of the Mutable signs. Priority should be given to your nervous system. The good news is that before the weekend, not only does the Moon move into your opposite sign, but Mercury moves into one of the Water signs: at least one person could be taken with one of your design ideas and make a suggestion that you collaborate further.
