Light A Candle Today!
In many different traditions lighting a candle is a sacred action. It expresses more than words can express. It has to do with gratefulness. From time immemorial, people have lit candles in sacred places. You may want to begin or end your day by the sacred ritual of lighting a candle on this gratefulness. Or you may want to light a birthday candle for a friend. One single guideline is all you need: Slow down and do it with full attention.
Goddess Month of Mala begins 9/6 – 10/2
Celtic Tree Calendar: Muin (Vine) September 2 to September 29
Current Moon Phase: Full Moon
Symbolic of the height of power, the peak of clarity, fullness and obtainment of desire.
Full Moon energy is used for banishing unwanted influences in your life, protection magick, and divination.
The Moon travels 1/2 way around to the 6oclock position, and the face of the Moon is fully illuminated. We love full Moon magic, an apt time for fruition, completion and wholeness. Some say the magic can be done the day of the Moon as well as three days on either side of it. It is a good time for all Positive Magic, protection, scrying, love, healing and prosperity. Also a good time to grow closer to the Goddess by Drawing Down the Moon
Mabon / Autumnal Equinox Sept.22, 2019 – Mabon is the mid-harvest festival, and it is when we take a few moments to honor the changing seasons and celebrate the second harvest.
For many Pagan and Witch traditions it is a time of giving thanks for the things we have, whether it is abundant crops or other blessings.

Tarot Card of the Week
by Biddie Tarot
The card drawn for this week is the Five of Swords
Competition and conflict have the potential to bring down your energy this week, if not managed well. This is definitely a week to pick your battles. If you’re tempted to fight every conflict to ensure you get your way, to prove that you are right, or defend yourself when you are feeling challenged or threatened, you may get the result you want, but end up feeling icky.
Choosing your battles wisely will lead to a more peaceful existence, and stronger relationships. If you’re feeling your competitive streak rising in situations that don’t call for it, consider if the person you’re competing with is really a threat to your happiness, or if there is, in fact, enough abundance in the Universe for you both to win.
Ask the Tarot: “Do I believe in competition or collaboration?”
Heartwings Love Notes 897: Muffins for Fall
Heartwings says, “Eating seasonally is good for the body.”
To my delight, the rarely seen wild blueberries appeared in our supermarket. Most of the year they are only available frozen, and while these are adequate for use and tasty, fresh is better. The muffins in my recipe are easily made with either. I do not recommend making them with the regular large blueberries as these take up too much room in the muffins to begin with, and as they cook, are apt to collapse and leave spaces in your product.
Muffins are very easy to make and I have made them from scratch for many years. Do not expect your homemade product to resemble the large, cakelike muffins from a bakery. To my taste these are overly sweet and as well often contain preservatives and other ingredients that are not necessarily good for you. The secret to successful muffins lies in how they are put together. When made with melted butter they must be stirred gently together and not beaten. When made with oil, there is usually no problem with the mixing.
To make 1/1/2 dozen or so muffins, preheat oven to 425. Use the silicone baking cups if you can find them. Unlike the paper one they do not stick to the muffins. Greased muffin cups work too of course. Assemble the following dry ingredients in a medium bowl: 1 ½ cups flour-I use gluten free, 1/2 cup sugar,1 tsp baking powder, ½ tsp baking soda, ½ tsp salt, 1/2 cup almond flour. Stir together and add 1 cup small wild blueberries-fresh or frozen. Measure ¾ cup milk into a 2 cup measuring cup. Add 2 eggs, ¼ cup light olive oil OR ¼ cup melted butter. Mix well and pour over dry ingredients.
If using butter, mix gently. If using oil, mix well. Fill muffin cups ¾ full. Bake at 425 for 20 minutes or until they are nicely browned and spring back when poked lightly. Tip muffins up in the tin to rest until slightly cool, then serve with or without butter or other condiments. The almond flour helps keep them fresh for quite a while and adds a fine tenderness as well. Ovens may vary, as will cooking times. These are very tasty. You can also make a corn muffin variation by omitting the blueberries, using 1/4 cup almond flour, ¾ cup regular flour, and 1 cup medium grind corn meal. Add ½ or more cups fresh or cooked corn cut from the cob.
May your Fall recipes prove nourishing and tasty.
Blessings and best Regards, Tasha Halpert

Caring for your Tarot Deck
Now that you found the perfect deck it is necessary to properly care for them.
The first thing you will want to do is to cleanse and bless your deck. There are several ways to do this:
You could write a Tarot cleansing and blessing ritual
You can cleanse them with any or all of the elements
You can smudge them
You can leave them sit on a window sill for 24 hours so that they will be cleansed and charged by both the Sun and the Moon
You can put them in numerical order (this is a quick way to do a cleansing of lingering energy. It is not recommended for an initial or a thorough cleansing).
Personally, when I first get a deck, I do a thorough cleansing ritual. I go through the deck card by card, very lightly sprinkling each card with salt water and then placing it through the smoke of the burning sage incense (which for this purpose, represents air and fire as you wouldn’t want to put your card through an actual flame for obvious reasons).
I then ask the goddess, god and ancient ones to bless each of my cards so that they may be used as proper tools through which the Lady, Lord and spirits may send me knowledge and guidance. I then bless them with burning rosemary or jasmine or any other herb or incense associated with psychic ability.
I usually leave the cleansed and blessed deck on my altar for 3 days with properly blessed crystals and amethyst before using them. (The crystals and amethyst are then kept in the bag with the cards.)
I will repeat this about once a year for each deck used for public readings.
You will know when it is time to cleanse your deck. You will notice a change in energy or the way you feel about your deck. Readings may also become less clear.
I find that if I put the deck in numerical order once a month or so, I tend not to have to do as much major cleanings. After a particularly nasty or trying reading or if I feel the connection dropping between myself and the cards, I will leave them on my window sill.
Storing Your Deck
Most Tarot readers suggest storing your cards in a black-lined bag or in a wooden Tarot card box. This not only physically protects your cards, but it also keeps them from picking up whatever energy is floating around.
You can include gemstones and herbs with divinatory powers or psychic improvement abilities with your cards.
Keep your cards covered when not in use.
When Doing a Reading
You probably noticed that most Tarot readers will spread a cloth over whatever surface they are doing readings on.
This serves two purposes. On the practical side, it keeps your cards clean. On a psychic side, the color you chose to use can help with the vibrations of the card.
It is up to you as to whether or not you allow the seeker to touch your cards. Some readers encourage their seekers to shuffle the deck so that they can infuse it with their energy. Others don’t let seeks touch their deck for the same reason. They prefer to have no one else’s energy on the deck but their own. The choice is yours.
Stones & The Metaphysics of Self-Power
Power is a broad reference to the ability to effect change or exert control over people, subjects, or objects. Self-power or self-empowerment is the ability to “enlighten”, “enhance” and “educate” yourself in order to become a better human being.
This is one of the highest forms of spiritual consciousness we can give ourselves. Improving our way of communicating, appreciating, and honoring who we are, gives us special gifts such as gratitude, self-esteem, and a sense of being grounded.
As empowered beings, we have the opportunity to remind ourselves of our selflessness, our humanity, and our endless source of energy we can tap into. Here you can discover the building blocks of self-power. Refuse to be the victim.
Change Creates Power
If we choose to focus our attention on the negative around us, we will be that negativity.
If we choose to focus our attention on doing what we can’t do, we will surely not do the things we can.
If we choose to focus our attention on being a victim, we will remain a victim.
To empower your spirit and create your true self, you must change your thoughts and the feelings around them.
Change is inevitable.
Our lives are made up of the building blocks of change. Change creates the person we must grow to be. Change happens for a reason. That reason is to allow us possibilities we may not have seen in the first place. This can be traumatic or it can be less so.
The single most important point you can make about change is that in most cases it’s not what faces you that’s the problem, it’s how you react to it.
How you react is determined by how you perceive a particular change. The Chinese word for crisis is “weiji”. Two characters that separately mean danger and opportunity. Every problem we encounter in life can be viewed that way. It is a chance to show that we can handle it. Changing the way, you think, can change a life of stress and discomfort to a life of challenge and excitement.
Change shows itself in many forms. The move to a different career, by choice or not, the loss of a loved one, the loss of a relationship, the move to a new home or simply the change in the weather and how we feel.
It is important to embrace the transition. Struggling, kicking and screaming, and dragging your heels will only prolong trying to control the uncontrollable. Learn to recognize strengths you may have overlooked. Embrace optimism and reform your old belief system. Honor the new you, which you are transforming into. Here are some ways to embrace change:
1. Often, in any situation, we must take the quiet time to be with ourselves to observe this change. How is it going to affect me? Better yet, how am I going to let it affect me? What am I going to do to get through this? Allow the answers to come to you in your quiet time.
2. Take everything one day at a time. Sometimes situations can become overwhelming when looking at the big picture. Again, take your quiet time to observe the moment. Allow yourself to take all the time, take all the space, and to grasp the change.
3. Breathe. Deep breathing allows us to open our chest and expand. It clears our minds and bodies of toxins and should be used as a tool for change. Allow the breath to cleanse you and make room for change. Make room for something different.
4. Support. We are always put at ease when we have support behind us. In these vulnerable moments, we can find strength in others. If you have a good friend, a family member, a loved one, or a community group that you can turn to, do so. Be sure that this support comes from a positive, unbiased source. Otherwise, it can be more damaging than good. Rest assured, there have been others who have gone through what you are experiencing right now. See if you can take away with you some of their positive pearls of wisdom.
5. Love Yourself. You are the true source to your own happiness. You have to live within yourself. You have to be at peace within yourself. Only you can do that. Only you can make that happen. We each have our own way of being with ourselves, but there is only one way to be at ease with your soul. That is to love yourself, always.
6. Our Belief System is one of the major factors that can get us through situations or can cause our life to crumble around us. I do believe that there is a lot of innate goodness and balancing our minds do subconsciously to get us through hard times. The other portion of this is how we “program” ourselves to deal with any given situation.
7. Let go of Ego. Embracing peace of mind, optimism, the ability to forgive, and a sense of humor are all good ways to allow the ego to step aside and make room for some humble pie.
8. Allow Emotional Release.. Identifying, expressing, experiencing, and accepting all of our feelings is your doorway to accepting all change in your life.
9. Be Flexible. You have a rigid, mindset about work, relationships, kids or your lifestyle. Life will bring us challenges we do not see coming. It is important to be able to adjust and learn as we grow. Our adaptability needs a sense of willingness in order to let go. By lowering our expectations, it reveals an openness to accept.
10. There Is No Security in something that is irrelevant or no longer has meaning. When we let go of the familiar, we have the power to embrace the new. Embrace it.
Crystals Associated with our Power Center
The Solar Plexus Chakra represents Fire, Ego identity, oriented to self-definition. This chakra is known as the power chakra, located in the solar plexus.. It rules our personal power, will, and autonomy, as well as our metabolism. When healthy, this chakra brings us energy, effectiveness, spontaneity, and non-dominating power. The color for this chakra is yellow. Yellow is very good for getting in touch with your power and to build confidence. It is your center of will.
Consider some of the following stones when working with self-power:
Amber: Amber can add stability to your life. Helpful in clearing up depression and bringing about a positive mental state. Useful as memory assistance, which makes it a good stone for studying. Amber is used for past life work, divination, and scrying. It aligns mental and emotional bodies via its deep orange and yellow color. Amber is an Aura cleanser. It assists in bringing our higher vibrations in order, dispersing negative energy and clears the surrounding environment. Amber is the stone, which brings about altruism and great wisdom. Amber is known to attract luck, calm energies, attract love, inspire change and improve wisdom.
Citrine: Considered the merchant stone, citrine is very versatile and is used for mental and emotional clarity, problem-solving, memory issues, will power, optimism, confidence, and self-discipline. It reduces anxiety, fear, and depression. An energizing and highly beneficial crystal, citrine absorbs, transmutes, grounds and dissolves negative energy, which makes it a very protective stone. Citrine crystals are invigorating and positive. They can surround and fill anyone with its brilliant color, energizing every aspect of life.
Tiger’s Eye: Used historically for bringing more luck into your life. This stone is most recognized for attracting money, psychic protection, courage, confidence, willpower, clear thinking and speaking to show us the personal power in life that we have. Very versatile for the Yellow/Solar Plexus Chakra, Third Eye Chakra, and Crown Chakra. The root of our intuition is from our Solar Plexus. The “gut feeling” is what’s considered the root, while our Third Eye receives the vision. Tiger’s Eye works on our mental plane by amplifying thinking and manifesting what you think about. Helps separate thoughts from feelings, more centered, less emotional.
Yellow Sapphire: This aluminum oxide corundum stone is found in a number of beautiful colors (except red) from blue, green, pink, purple to clear. It is related to a ruby due to its mineral makeup. Sapphires are known as the stone of prophetic wisdom. They have a long-standing use in history. It is a stone of strength and gives great will power. These stones lessen tension and align the mental, physical, and spiritual planes. They can be an important stone for people with spiritual confusion or depression, those involved in situations out of their control, and anyone with concentration problems.
Yellow Jasper: Yellow Jasper can be used at the Solar Plexus Chakra and represents Fire, Ego identity, and is oriented to self-definition. This stone can be used to reduce travel sickness. Yellow is very good for getting in touch with your power and to build confidence. It is your center of will. Top 5 Reason You Should be Drinking Tea
Do you know how good tea is for your overall physical and mental health? Study after study have proven the health benefits of tea, which other cultures have already known for centuries.
Here, we’ll tell you why you should be drinking tea, how to incorporate it with your crystal healing, what our most popular crystal energy teas are, and finally share with you one of our most cherished tea recipes.
1) Tea is hydrating to the body. It is a wonderful addition to your daily water and makes a tasty but equally hydrating alternative.
2) Tea has the power to calm you down. It can lower your stress level and offer comfort. For some it works as a great sleep aid.
3) Tea has less caffeine than coffee and zero calories (as long as you don’t add sugar or cream).
4) Tea contains antioxidants which boosts and strengthens the immune system.
5) Tea can increase energy and mental focus.
Top 5 Ways to Incorporate Crystal Healing with your Tea
1) While you are letting your tea steep, it is the perfect time to sneak in a moment of crystal meditation. Use the crystal that matches with your tea or a complimenting crystal. Hold the crystal during your meditation session near your cup of tea. Breathe in the tea’s comforting scent as it steeps, while you take in the healing crystal energy. Enjoy your tea when you’re done with your meditation.
2) Create a crystal circle around the tea and speak an affirmation while it is steeping. This could be the same crystal as the tea or a complimenting one. Your affirmation will vary by tea and situation, but it should be positive and life affirming.
3) Create a tea altar. This might be more for the tea and crystal enthusiast. Purchase or build a small wooden altar with drawers, basically a mini apothecary table. Put your tea tins or tea bags in the drawers with related crystals and sage to keep everything fresh, pure, and cleansed. Place your teacup upon the altar while it’s being poured and steeped, speak affirmations, and thank it for its blessings.
4) Wear the same crystal talisman, a complimenting, or enhancing crystal (such as Clear Quartz) while making and drinking your tea for enhanced effects.
5) Place enhancing crystals such a Clear Quartz inside the crystal tea tins for increasing the tea’s effectiveness. You can also place other crystals inside the tin that are complimenting for added benefits.
The Magical Use of Prayer Beads
by Jean-Louis de Biasi
Wonders of the subterranean world are fascinating. Several times, I’ve had the opportunity to explore deep caves. In the silence and darkness of the earth, it is easier to forget the outer world. Our breathing becomes more perceptible. Simple sounds, such as drops falling regularly onto the floor, make our inner being resonate to these magic sonic waves.
For the philosopher Plato, caves were representations of the physical world and our body. The reality is elsewhere. It can be found in the spiritual world and simultaneously in our inner being, which can be reached through progressive steps of consciousness. The symbols in this cave are all important. Stalactites and stalagmites are a powerful example of what prayers are capable of. Drops fall from the ceiling. One by one, they leave a small amount of calcium salts on the ceiling and on the floor, building a stalagmite progressively rising to the top. Eventually, the stalactite descending from the ceiling and the stalagmite ascending will unite, forming a strong pillar. This is the regularity and the constancy that allows this visual miracle to appear, which may take years or centuries.
On the spiritual level, mantras and prayers can be used in the same way. Each repetition of a sacred word or sound will progressively build an inner core, allowing you to rise to the divine. I am not talking here about hymns or declamatory prayers. I am talking about a precise and regular repetition of powerful sacred words. Depending on the tradition and practice, it could be either sounds, names, or short sentences. Like Mother Earth’s work, these mantras can help you to accomplish this inner work of rising from the physical world to the spiritual realm.
Without serious training, visualization can be difficult to master. This is the same for breathing, meditation, invocations, etc. Learning complex techniques is always challenging and takes time. Everything here is simple and eventually works, as long as your determination and constancy are maintained.
Not surprisingly, specific techniques of prayers have been used in most religions that exist around the world. One of these I have seen since my childhood: the use of prayer beads. My Italian grandmother used prayer beads several times a day. After opening a portative silver representation of the Christ and his Passion and lighting a candle, she prayed using her prayer beads. Her look turned in contemplation to the divinity she was worshiping. It was as if she were opening a door to the spiritual world, and the spiritual light was perceptible. The names and prayers used are well known by everyone in the Christian tradition, but the daily mystical experience was real and intense. Others used the Christian prayer beads, usually called a “rosary,” on various occasions throughout the year. It was my first contact with this wonderful and mysterious religious tool. Later, when I travelled around the Mediterranean Sea, I saw various prayer beads used in different countries and religions. It is the same in the Eastern religions. We can wonder when beads began to be used in such a way, but it is difficult to state because it is sometimes impossible to distinguish necklaces from prayer beads. However, we know that knots have also been used instead of beads.
Besides my Catholic education, I have been initiated in various Western traditions. Some of them I met a long time ago and are linked to the Judeo-Christian faith, whereas my main tradition is linked to pre-Christian traditions. I have been lucky enough to reach most of the highest degrees of several initiatic Orders. It is from this perspective that I have been able to investigate the past and current use of prayer beads. The Kabbalistic Order of the Rose-Cross and the Ordo Aurum Solis are two examples of well-known initiatic Orders that use mantras and prayer beads. For years, their initiates have experimented with several ways to use these magical tools, both individually and in groups. The miracle of this kind of practice is its efficiency. Something happens in few minutes, as the practitioner awakens an old, powerful divinity sleeping in a remote place.
But prayer beads are not randomly made. It is well known that the Western Tradition, since its emergence, has been composed of several religions and Initiatic Traditions. Each one has its own theology, mythology, symbols, and rituals. Each one uses various religious items and invokes sacred names related to its pantheon. Each one has its own hymns and prayers. Each one is a coherent world rooted on a lineage, a history, and a faith. All these aspects create on the spiritual level what is called an egregore. This invisible energy is not neutral and evanescent. It is a real power that sometimes reacts as it is personalized. It can be protective to the faithful, but dangerous for the one who works against this religious group.
An egregore is also strongly linked to the divinities that constitute the core of the system. Any believer or adept is eager to connect to this invisible power in order to be helped in his spiritual and material life. Building this invisible channel to the egregore of the tradition of which you are part is one of the main goals of your inner work. Another one, more devotional, is to develop an intimate relation with divinities, no matter the precise name you are using for them. This devotional practice is well known in India under the name of “Bhakti Yoga.”
Prayer beads can be used in all spiritual and initiatic traditions. Their main purpose is to allow you to count the number of prayers or invocations you are performing. At first glance, you might think that anyone can make his own prayer beads and use it in his practices. This is both true and false at the same time. It is true if you consider that the only goal is to count your prayers. In this case, you would be able to choose how many prayers you want to use. It is false because, as I previously explained, religious and spiritual traditions are a coherent set of beliefs illustrated by symbols. Numbers are very often linked to symbols and have a specific effect on the psyche.
As an example, let us consider Qabalah and the Hebrew alphabet, keeping in mind this example is also appropriate for several other traditions. A sacred name is composed of letters. Each one is associated with a number. Consequently, each name has a value that corresponds to the total of each of its letters. So when invocations of this sacred name are performed, it is usual to see a link between the number of repetitions and the sum of its letters. It will be the same for the colors and sometimes even the material used for the beads. When employing prayer beads in the Hermetic Tradition, genuine turquoises are used. As a matter of fact, it is said in this Tradition that the God Hermes wrote the sacred texts on tablets of turquoise.
The number eight is also omnipresent and used in the Ogdoadic (Hermetic) prayer beads. In other traditions, such as Wicca, the cycles of nature are deeply linked to the numbers and symbols represented in the prayer beads. For example, the four phases of the Moon will be used to invoke the Goddess and the solar cycle of the Sun.
Some of the prayer beads presented in my latest book, The Magical Use of Prayer Beads: Secret Meditations & Rituals for Your Qabalistic, Hermetic, Wiccan or Druid Practice, were revealed to me during my training in initiatic Orders. They are not well known, even if their effect is amazing. Although initiates use prayer beads in a specific way, everyone can learn how to use them ritually with great benefit. In Western Traditions such as Wicca and Druidism, every practitioner will discover that the regular use of Prayer Beads will have a huge impact on his regular practice. In order to provide a real opportunity to fully explore this magical item, in my book I provided four levels of practice for each prayer beads: the first one is a meditation, the second one is an individual ritual, the third one is a ritual for a couple, and the fourth is a ritual in a group.
Do not forget that a prayer beads are also physical items. It is important to use precise rituals that will allow you to purify, cleanse on the astral level, and consecrate your prayer beads. I have already spoken about the specific materials, but there is also another aspect that is more energetic. When you are using such a ritual tool in your own practice, you will concentrate a specific energy into it. Day after day, year after year, it will increase its power as a battery does when you plug it in. This charge will also help you in moments of weakness.
As water dripping in the darkness of the cave, all these factors have a real effect on your soul. Taking your prayer beads and beginning to slide them between your fingers while invoking the divine will support you. This is a real magic that occurs when using this fascinating tool in a traditional way. Very often, simplicity is a synonym for efficiency. The magical use of prayer beads is exactly the demonstration of such a statement. There is no limit to the purpose of such use. From a sincere demand for your life to the deepest devotion, these traditional prayer beads will guide you all along your life. As a stalagmite, your soul will rise to the divine, with regularity and balance. This is how the magic happens!
Parts that Don’t Want to Heal
By Madisyn Taylor
When we choose that which is not best for us, there may be a deep-seated part of us that does not want to heal.
In almost every case, we know what is best for us in our lives, from the relationships we create to the food we eat. Still, somewhat mysteriously, it is often difficult to make the right choices for ourselves. We find ourselves hanging out with someone who leaves us feeling drained or choosing to eat fast food over a salad. We go through phases where we stop doing yoga or taking vitamins, even though we feel so much better when we do. Often we have no idea why we continue to make the less enlightened choice, but it is important that we inquire into ourselves to find out.
When we choose that which is not best for us, the truth can be that there is a deep seated part of us that does not want to heal. We may say it’s because we don’t have the time or the energy or the resources, but the real truth is that when we don’t take care of ourselves we are falling prey to self-sabotage. Self-sabotage happens unconsciously, which is why it’s so difficult to see that we are doing it. The important thing to realize is that this very part of us that resists our healing is the part that most needs our attention and love. Even as it appears to be working against us, if we can simply bring it into the light of our consciousness, it can become our greatest ally. It carries the information we need to move to the next level in our healing process.
When we recognize that we are not making healthy choices, we might even say out loud, “I am not taking care of myself.” Sometimes this is the jolt we need to wake up to what is actually happening. Next we can sit ourselves down in meditation, with a journal, or with a trusted friend to explore the matter more thoroughly. Just shining the light of our awareness on the source of our resistance is sometimes enough to dispel its power. At other times, further effort is required. Either way, we need not fear these parts that do not want to heal. We only need to take them under our wing and bring them with us into the light.
Finding Your Next Step in Life
By Madisyn Taylor
It is when you are willing to listen to yourself and be fearless, that figuring out your next step becomes easy.
Our lives are made up of a complex network of pathways that we can use to move from one phase of life to the next. For some of us, our paths are wide, smooth, and clearly marked. Many people, however, find that they have a difficult time figuring out where they need to go next. Determining which “next step” will land you on the most direct route to fulfillment and the realization of your life purpose may not seem easy.
There are many ways to discover what the next step on your life path should be. If you are someone who seeks to satisfy your soul, it is vital that you make this inquiry. Often, your inner voice will counsel you that it’s time for a change, and it is very important to trust yourself because only you know what is best for you. Personal growth always results when you let yourself expand beyond the farthest borders of what your life has been so far. When figuring out what your next step will be, you may want to review your life experiences. The choices you’ve made and the dreams you’ve held onto can give you an idea of what you don’t want to do anymore and what you might like to do next. It is also a good idea to think about creative ways you can use your skills and satisfy your passions. Visualizing your perfect future and making a list of ways to manifest that future can help you choose a logical next step that’s in harmony with your desires. Meditation, journal writing, taking a class, and other creative activities may inspire you and provide insight regarding the next step in life that will bring you the most satisfaction.
It is when you are willing to listen to yourself and be fearless that figuring out your next step becomes easy. Beneath the fear and hesitation and uncertainty lies your inner knowing that always knows which step you need to take next. If you can allow the taking of your next step to be as easy as putting one foot in front of the next, you’ll notice that your next step is always the one that is right in front of you. All you have to do is put one foot forward and on the ground.
This recipe can be found in Dr. Weil’s cookbook, True Food: Seasonal, Sustainable, Simple, Pure.
This recipe is great for a cold weather meal for those of us that might need a little immune system boost.
The sliced, dried astragalus root in this soup is available online and in herb stores; it is nontoxic and adds a pleasant, sweet taste when simmered in soups. Shiitake mushrooms also boost immunity and have an antiviral effect. Garlic is an antibiotic and ginger a natural anti-inflammatory agent.
Food as Medicine
Modern research shows that astragalus root, a Chinese herb long used to ward off colds and flu, has powerful immune-enhancing properties.
1 1/2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
2 large onions, thinly sliced
3 garlic cloves, mashed
1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
4 ounces shiitake mushrooms, stemmed and thinly sliced
2 large carrots, thinly sliced on the bias
2 1/2 pieces astragalus root (about 15 inches total)
10 cups Mushroom Stock
2 tablespoons tamari or low sodium soy sauce
2 cups broccoli florets
1/2 cup chopped scallions
1. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
2. Add the onions, garlic, and ginger and sauté until soft and translucent. Add the shiitakes, carrots, astragalus root and mushroom stock.
3. Bring to a low boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 45 minutes.
4. Add the tamari and adjust the seasoning with salt if needed.
5. Add the broccoli florets and cook until tender, about 2 minutes.
6. Remove the astragalus root pieces.
7. Ladle the soup into bowls and garnish with scallions before serving.

If you`re born within cusp period (16 to 26 of any month); you`re advised to read horoscopes of both signs covered by that period. You`re in the border; you may have influences from houses within those signs.
Outlines are longer versions; consists of every possible detail of everyday and based on three parts of each sign: 1st, 2nd & 3rd Decan; that is, any of three divisions of 10° within a sign of the zodiac. Even if you know or don`t know your Decan; I recommend, please read all three Decan.
Personal theme: I am!!
Fire & cardinal sign: March 21 — April 19
Your horoscope for this week:
Obviously, having to do what others demand or putting their needs first, whatever the reason, hasn`t been fun. What`s more, you had to keep your thoughts to yourself. While irritating at the time, now, as you begin this week, you`re able to discuss those issues and resolve any remaining difficulties. Better yet, you`re already exploring future joint plans and projects, and without a hint of drama.
Some people will accuse you of being lazy but it is boredom that prevents you from finishing jobs already begun. You might feel inclined to leave some things for another day. You`re growing restless and if a more exciting opportunity seizes your interest you will want to make the most of it. A special week is forecast if you`re planning on getting engaged or wed. Partnerships formed for business reasons are also likely to go well for you.
The cosmic weather changes direction midweek. Until Wednesday, and with Mercury and Venus moving through your opposite sign, ideas are likely to come that and fast. Others will be pushing you and trying to excite you too. Midweek you should take stock. Consider your professional aims and objectives. As Saturn stations at the very apex of your solar chart it`s time to assess how far you have climbed up the career ladder and how far there is still to go. Note too, that you are likely to be propelled and energised by your own plans, but that others might have different ideas as to what you should be doing. In the lead into the all-important Equinox at the weekend it`s likely important to re-establish personal aims and ensure that you aren`t being dictated to by others.
Personal theme: I have!!
Earth & fixed sign: April 20 — May 20
Your horoscope for this week:
The past weeks have been about love and life`s pleasures. In fact, with several of the heavenly bodies, including your ruler Venus, accenting such matters, it`s been a period of joy, recovery and healing. However, the focus is now shifting to your everyday life and certain obligations, some pressing. Tackle them as they arise, and to your surprise, you`ll enjoy dealing with them just as much.
If you are able to ignore all the distractions around you, results of the efforts you make now should be good. Official business should be kept that way. Remember that a handshake is not binding. Refuse to accept an offer unless it is confirmed in writing. You`re likely to enjoy increased popularity in your social world and it all looks very promising, romantically speaking too. Loving words and gestures will make you positive and optimistic.
The Moon makes its monthly passage through your sign midweek and others may be ready to listen. That this coincides with Saturn`s direct station (in another of the Earth signs) suggests you may be ready to take control. This is the moment to declare exactly what it is that excites you and what it is that really want to learn. You may need to establish new boundaries or ground rules. The good news is that it seems you will have the support of someone who is supersensitive and who actually has no doubts about the course of action you propose. Indeed, you might both laugh fact that it`s taken you so long to draw this conclusion. Yet you can make up for this loss time. By the time the Sun reaches the Equinox at the weekend you should have a new spring in your step. Remember that Uranus is travelling through your sign. You`re not like any of the previous generation and dealing with a new dynamic altogether. Doing things your way is imperative. Indeed, before the end of the year, (though much depends on your actual birth date) you could experience an `entrepreneurial` moment and move in exciting direction.
Personal theme: I think!!
Air sign: May 21 — June 20
Your horoscope for this week:
While you`re rarely stubborn, once you`re involved in a plan, existing arrangement or passion, you`ll stick with it. However, with both your ruler Mercury and charming Venus moving to focus on what, and who, brings joy to your life, you`ll be rethinking things. Some offers or ideas may involve familiar people or settings, but others could arise suddenly and bring a new zest to life.
People who are leaving jobs half-finished are really starting to annoy you. You can`t explain it but you just hate any kind of mess or disorder around you. If you`re about to say something detrimental to someone, maybe you should reconsider. After all, you aren`t exactly known for your tidy ways. If you`re finding it hard to get on with someone you work with, keep a low profile. Be kind, even with your most irritable colleagues..
Halfway through this week Saturn arrives at what is known as its direct station. With Mercury and Venus having arrived in another of the Air signs this weekend, it may be that others are now ready to strike a deal that is rather more creative than would have initially given them credit for. They will no doubt want you to make initial agreement soon. Yet they might also want you to be clear as to your long-term aims and objectives and agree a schedule. Having moved the goalposts several times, this might not be the most comfortable of moments for you. Fact is that you are have likely taken on more than is actually do-able in the allotted time. It might also be that you`ve enraged to certain individuals to the point where they have dug their heels in. You will likely need to do some fast- talking. Take care – especially toward the end of the working week – that you don`t talk at people too much. At this fragile stage in negotiation, it`s likely just as important that you listen.
Personal theme: I feel!!
Water & cardinal sign: June 21 — July 22
Your horoscope for this week:
True, you may not be in the mood to rethink certain plans or goals, especially since some were so recently organised. Yet what appears, especially suddenly, could either add something special to existing plans or turn out to be as exciting as it is unexpected. In every case, wait. Consider everything but put off decisions until the dust has settled, and your mind is clearer.
Don`t be tempted to sweep unpaid bills under the carpet. Be honest about your financial situation and get help from a money expert if you are struggling with debt. If someone owes you money and you need it back, it`s up to you to turn on your persuasive charm. You are being seriously considered for a promotion. Keep your nose to the grindstone as people in high places are watching your every move. They are starting to realise they can depend on you to deliver a flawless performance.
It`s the equinox next weekend. Ahead of this important date, Mercury and Venus too arrive at the very base of your solar chart. This is like having painters (with paint) in before you actually agree which room will be which colour. Yet you are likely to come to understanding – if not by the weekend that soon after. Saturn comes to its direct station in your opposite sign. This suggests that others will be ready to commit and that deals can soon be struck. There`s high probability of you having to work extra hours or feeling that your home has become like Piccadilly Circus with people coming and going. Exciting as this may be, it`s important to recall that yours is one of the Water signs and that you need time out to rebalance. With so much happening in Air sign, Libra, ideas could at times be all too much with the combination of Air and Steam leaving you potentially all worked up. It`s good news then, that those born under the Earth signs of Taurus, Virgo Capricorn seem particularly sensitised to what you`re going through and apparently willing to offer a safe haven and support.
Personal theme: I will!!
Fire & fixed sign: July 23 — August 22
Your horoscope for this week:
As a fire sign, you thrive on action and excitement. While recent weeks were full of exactly that, the pace slows and the mood shifts to reflection, both about certain ongoing concerns and new, and somewhat worrying, arrangements. Tackle these now, while you can still make changes or, if necessary, say farewell to them. If it`s the latter, you`ll soon discover other, equally appealing, ideas or activities.
You could come across some information that leaves you pondering over a big decision. Something you have heard or seen will cause you to wonder how secure you are in certain areas of your life. Share your thoughts with others in a similar position and you will find you aren`t alone in your views. Encourage an older relative to approach new situations with an open mind. They`re nervous about some changes but you sense these will be good for them.
It`s just possible that you are arriving at `make your mind up` time. This could apply at every possible level of your life. The fact is that midweek Saturn arrives at its direct station. For you, this could have something to do with property and commitment either to renting or buying. Negotiations look set to take a fairly dramatic to around next weekend`s Equinox. Until then, there is presumably much for you to discuss and engagements and meetings to arrange. Hopefully however, clarity about rules and regulations should emerge. Another very strong possibility, is that those who work in similar industries to your own will want to improve connections with you. Indeed, in many ways this could be called networking week. That said, it would be wise to take care that Gemini, Libra or Aquarius friends and colleagues don`t lead a merry dance along the way. Whilst they may be having fun playing with your Fire, they could as easily distract you from your aims.
Personal theme: I analyse!!
Earth sign: August 23 — September 22
Your horoscope for this week:
For weeks you`ve been concerned about potential errors in certain practical or financial matters. However, with things moving so swiftly, you`ve been unable to do much. Now that your ruler Mercury has moved to accent such matters, if there`s anything amiss, you`ll spot it.. Dealing with that and other matters may take a while. Still once everything is in order, you`ll be relieved and more relaxed.
Responsibilities are on the increase and this could put some strain on your health. That`s why you need to be sensible and take precautions to protect your general well-being. Stay away from sugar, fat and alcohol and take regular breaks to help avoid burnout. The future might hold some severe trials but if you are willing to accept a challenge, you could discover a lot about yourself, in the process. Have confidence in your abilities.
Midweek, Saturn arrives at its direct station. This, together with the Equinox next weekend and Mercury and Venus` recent arrival in Libra, suggests that progress should be faster than it has been. True, it might simply be that people are back at their desk after extended holidays. It is perhaps as likely that there`s been a change in thinking. Developments could be fast and furious. This does not augur particularly well for those of your sign. Though used to multitasking, you can be fretful if things don`t go entirely to plan. Be prepared that once the Moon moves into Gemini on Friday, for there to be even more talk. The art may be to agree meetings next week but make clear that all must agree to a strict schedule. It might also be worth spending time with a Cancer or Scorpio whose sensitivity to any plight and willingness to let you talk through worries, should alleviate angst.
Personal theme: I balance!!
Air & cardinal sign: September 23 — October 22
Your horoscope for this week:
Recent events have been exciting but, mostly, they`re up to others. This has given you a welcome break from decision-making, but you`re increasingly aware several matters need your personal attention. This makes the move by your ruler Venus and Mercury, into Libra, on the 14th, timely. Obviously, you want decisions made. While they seem urgent, you`ll soon realise you`ve lots of questions to ask first.
You hate discord and argument but some tension in the air could make you nervous. Friction between you and someone you have been seeing regularly makes you worried about the future. Are you spending too much time together? Try giving each other more space. Restructuring your finances might help you clear a backlog of neglected invoices. Take nothing for granted in money and romance and you will stay on top of most situations.
Though the Sun doesn`t arrive in your sign until the Equinox at the weekend, Mercury and Venus have both rolled into Libra together. This can be a tremendous commercial combination. True, best progress is likely to come from next Monday. Even so, there should be evidence – even before Thursday – that you`re turning a corner. In one sense, it seems you are seeking new foundations. These are of course early days, and it`s not many weeks since a different but important fresh 15-year cycle began. It`s arguably crucial that you are as organised as possible. View this as putting money in the bank for later. All this is further underlined by Saturn stationing at the very base of your solar chart. There might then be something to celebrate. Even ahead of your birthday (but yes, it`s true that is often a time when energy is generally low), you could be inspired by those showing clear goals. You could also form professional connections with Taurus, Virgo or Capricorn colleagues. The latter may be instrumental in propelling you up the career ladder.
Scorpio & Ophiuchus
Personal theme: I desire!!
Water & fixed signs: October 23 — November 21
Your horoscope for this week:
True, good news is always welcome. However, you`re still awaiting facts that will confirm this and what`s next. While there`ll be a few surprises, things are just as good as they seem. If there`s any challenge, it`s being patient until things are more settled. This will require a certain amount of diplomacy and effort. Still, the result will more than justify the patience required.
An important project will be delayed due to disagreements. Keep your wits about you and be willing to experiment with new ideas. This could give you an opportunity to acquire new skills. Although your first few efforts may be disappointing, keep at it as practice will make perfect. Traffic delays or losing luggage could cause problems on a journey. A sign or arrow pointing in the wrong direction could cause you some confusion. Keep scans of important documents.
Important moves could be made this week: coinciding with Saturn`s direct station and your two ruling planets, Mars and Pluto coming to one of their better aspects. You could view this as being a re-fuelling moment. Indeed, it`s not hard to imagine that before the Equinox next weekend, that passion will be ignited and your focus admired and respected; but yes, with that comes the high probability of added responsibility. This may be something you want to consider carefully. It may well be that the effort put in doesn`t bring full reward until the middle of next month. This though would be an excellent time for undertaking in-depth research. In cooperation with someone born under Libra, you might also be introduced to an organisational system that would save you both time and money.
Personal theme: I see!!
Fire sign: November 22 — December 21
Your horoscope for this week:
After a period during which things seemed to fall into place almost magically, the setbacks you`re facing are disheartening. They may be, but they`re also forcing you to review recent arrangements in detail, ideally before you take things to the next stage. Knowing that, invest time in even tedious matters now, while you can. You`ll soon realise what you learn is of huge significance.
You are torn between an increasing desire for independence and a need to rely on someone for their help or support. If you can`t get any further without assistance, just be sure to check what others might want in return.. A new friend or romantic partner seems to have a habit of forgetting promises they have made. In some matters you would do well to walk away completely. Don`t let emotions or sentimentality cloud your judgement.
Though you know that there are 12 signs of the Zodiac, you may not know that there are different perspectives that could be used when studying the planets and stars. From the traditional point of view, Neptune is presently passing through Pisces: from another point of view it is moving through your sign.. All this suggests that you might at some level feel vaguely lost at sea. Not knowing which groups, you should belong to could be quite disconcerting.. If you just embarking on an educational journey, you may feel spoilt for choice. Yet at a different level entirely, this could be a moment to allow your imagination to run riot. A surge of creativity is probable. If you`ve never considered writing, composing, or painting this could be the time to address that; but yes, at some level you may also be dealing with changes in your physical energy. It might even be necessary to visit a health professional or consider a different diet to boost both mental and physical fitness.
Personal theme: I use!!
Earth & cardinal sign: December 22 — January 19
Your horoscope for this week:
Ordinarily, you`d never have taken chances on arrangements in the way you have recently. However, the nature of events, the people involved and a general feeling of promise overcame your usual caution. While there`ll be a few issues, things are as good as they seem, if not better.. The next challenge? Recognising that minor worries are just that, minor, and relaxing, enough to enjoy your bounty.
Keep an eye on your money.. It`s important to protect your own interests. If you`re tired of a partner dipping into a joint account with no sensible explanation you might want to keep your money separate from theirs. Take care to avoid losing valuable items and don`t fall for anyone`s sob stories. Don`t believe everything you hear and resist the temptation to gossip with a neighbour or colleague who will be trying to get information out of you.
Later this week, Saturn, your ruling planet comes to its direct station. From then you should feel `off to the races`. It`s likely that you will be given extra authority and yes, perhaps power. With both Mercury and Venus passing over at the apex of your solar chart, bringing others together and indeed, possibly even heading up a team seems more likely than not. For some this might also be all about getting a family to work closer together. The needs of someone who is physically not at their best might need to take priority. Career wise however, there`s satisfaction in learning a new system and then training others. It might also be that you are alerted to the fact that someone has every intention of moving on. Though this might cause an initial ripple of anxiety, it would surely also afford the opportunity to appraise their contribution and to assess whether or not it`s a replacement that is needed or a different energy altogether.
Personal theme: I know!!
Air & fixed sign: January 20 — February 18
Your horoscope for this week:
Long ago you learnt there`s no use in arguing with those whose minds are closed to new ideas. However, certain individuals you`re dealing with at home or involving practical matters in your professional life are resolutely cautious. So much it seems there`s little hope of broadening their horizons. Still, persist. With a combination of the facts and charm, you`ll manage to win them over.
Now is a good time to end projects or relationships that no longer serve you. You`ve got too many irons in the fire and trying to keep up with it all is exhausting. The simple answer is to remove some of them. You are starting to understand a friend or loved one`s recent strange behaviour. Putting yourself in their shoes enables you to establish a truce where there has been contention. People are grateful for your understanding.
Both Mercury and Venus have now moved into another of the Air signs, Libra. That should bring a boost in mental activity. The desire to acquire more information is set to increase as the Moon passes across the base of your solar chart midweek as Saturn, one of your ruling planets arrives at its station. All this happens ahead of the Equinox and the Sun`s arrival in an area which, for you, is all about acquiring expertise. In short, this would be a fabulous time to begin a course. The fact that it`s happening this September at a time when that`s likely, suggests that Aquarians could well have a head start on others. Yet there are always drawbacks: you may find that you encounter considerable administrative difficulty. It may be that too many people are enrolled on a course and that there is competition for places. You might need to talk your way into position but yes, negotiate this so that you succeed.
Personal theme: I believe!!
Water sign: February 19 — March 20
Your horoscope for this week:
The Pisces Full Moon on the 14th, isn`t just about reflection, it`s about acknowledging and dealing with a range of issues, from those of a practical nature to deep personal feelings. While some can be dealt with right away, others are more complex. They will, necessarily, require time, conversation with those you trust, questioning and personal reflection. However, what you learn could transform your life.
You are curious about an event that someone doesn`t want to talk about. You want to know it all but they will refuse to discuss it. You may not realise you are being too intrusive. Accept and respect a loved one`s need for privacy. A spending mood could get out of hand and this is bound to have repercussions. Whether you`re on a shopping trip or spending online, resist the urge to throw caution to the wind.
There is a very different dynamic at work this week to last. With Mercury and Venus now moving through another of the Air signs, talk is likely to be plentiful but yes, you`re right it could also be cheaper. Ideas – not necessarily practical should flow this way at that. Keeping up-to-date with discussions and meetings will surely be taxing. By mid-week as Saturn arrives it`s its direct station it may be necessary to define a timetable or schedule. That task could fall to you. Though at some level you may feel that you are least qualified, it may well be that between Tuesday and Thursday, you show levels of efficiency that are astounding. Take care however, that you`re not in burdening yourself. There is high probability that as of next Monday, even more work is headed your way. Your ability to decode, and to take information from one place to another, without compromising accuracy is set to be put to the test. For that reason, it is important that you concentrate both on the words and nuances used this week so that there is no danger of misunderstanding next.
