Light A Candle Today!
In many different traditions lighting a candle is a sacred action. It expresses more than words can express. It has to do with gratefulness. From time immemorial, people have lit candles in sacred places. You may want to begin or end your day by the sacred ritual of lighting a candle on this gratefulness. Or you may want to light a birthday candle for a friend. One single guideline is all you need: Slow down and do it with full attention.

Magical Water
May 05, 2019 by Dallas Jennifer Cobb

In his book The Hidden Messages in Water, Dr. Masuro Emoto demonstrates that water absorbs energy, which changes the molecular structure of the water. Today, make magical water and a magical jar, so you can change the energy you drink in.

You will need a glass jar with a resealable lid, an indelible marker, and water.

Clean and dry the jar. Write Love on the lid with the marker. Fill the jar with water.

Wrap your hands around the jar. Draw to mind things you love, raising your love vibration and transferring it to the water. Lean over the jar and whisper:

“I love you.”

Feel love.

Put the lid on and carry this jar with you, drinking magically charged water regularly. With each sip, drink in the love.

Water can be imprinted with any message. Writing your message on the lid enables the message to be absorbed into your consciousness in a variety of ways.

Nimuë’s Petals
May 04, 2019 by Storm Faerywolf

This is a spell to bless any new project or endeavor and clear away any obstacles to success by invoking Nimuë, the faery goddess of wild innocence and joy.

For this spell you will need six white roses, a vase, a white candle and holder, and a piece of candy.

At the time of the new moon, or later in the evening in the cloak of darkness, take three white roses to a three-way crossroads and reverently tear their petals from the blooms, casting them before you to each road and saying:

“As petals tossed upon the wind
Innocent, the winsome heart
Shall bless the paths before me now,
An open road, a fresh new start.”

Speak the faery goddess’s name aloud three times to each road:

“Nimuë! Nimuë! Nimuë!”

Return home. Light a white candle before a vase of three white roses and place the piece of candy before it all as an offering. Allow the candle to burn down safely.

Threat Containment Spell
May 03, 2019 by Melanie Marquis

If there is a threatening person in your life and you would like some magickal protection to supplement your mundane forms of protection, such as locked doors and restraining orders, try this spell.

You’ll need a small scrap of paper, a pen, a black candle, and a resealable jar that’s been painted black or covered with black paper. Write the person’s name as small as possible on the paper, then set it ablaze (carefully) in the flame of the black candle. Quickly drop it into the jar. Hold the candle above the jar so that the black wax drips onto the paper and ashes, completely covering it. Seal the jar by placing the lid on it as tightly as possible, then throw this away in a dumpster far from your home as you affirm your intention for the person to be out of your life, unable to influence you or harm you.

Brothers and Sisters Day
May 02, 2019 by Elizabeth Barrette

This is Brothers and Sisters Day, which honors siblings of blood and spirit, and the special relationship between them. Close platonic ties are often spoken of in this regard. If you don’t have any siblings, consider volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America or a similar organization.

For this spell you will need a picture of something to symbolize siblings. The constellation Gemini, cherry twins, or peas in a pod can all be used. Cast a circle and invoke sibling deities, such as the twins Artemis and Apollo, sisters Pele and Namakaokahai, or brothers in spirit Gilgamesh and Enkidu. Ask them to fill your life with brotherly/ sisterly love. Meditate on the sibling bonds in your family of blood and/or choice. Charge the symbol with this energy. Finally, release the deities and your circle.

Afterward, you may keep the symbol on your altar, carry it, or give it to your sibling.

Flower Spell
May 01, 2019 by Kate Freuler

Today is Beltane, the celebration of the Great Rite between the God and Goddess. This potted plant craft is inspired by the red and white ribbons of the traditional maypole, and the fertility of this sabbat day is represented by planting a flower.

You will need some red and white tissue paper cut into strips, some flower seeds of your choice, a flowerpot filled with dirt, colorful crayons, and some clear-drying craft glue.

Write blessings or inspirational quotes or draw symbols on the strips of paper with the crayons according to what situations you would like to see grow and take form in your life. Then glue the strips onto the flowerpot in patterns or stripes. When the glue is dry, add the soil to the pot. The soil represents the Goddess and the seeds represent the God. As you press the seeds into the earth, contemplate the union of God and Goddess, the power of creation. Cover the seeds with soil, water regularly, and see what grows!

May Eve
April 30, 2019 by Emyme

Bonfires and revelry! No matter what hemisphere you reside in and what season you are welcoming (the first blush of summer or the last of the harvest), this day, this evening, is a time of celebration. At dusk, gather loved ones around the warmth and the light of a fire pit or fireplace and serve refreshments. Should a fire pit not be an option, you can use candles, of all shapes and sizes. For safety, use those in glass containers, with complementary scents. Add tapers of differing heights, all ranged on a silver or mirrored tray. Feast on seasonal fruits and vegetables and cakes and ale. Music and dancing? Yes, indeed!

Chant:
“Fire,
Elemental and strong,
Purifying and hypnotizing,
We celebrate your power.
Fire,
Bright light of the gods,
Bring the luck of May
Into this home, this bower.”

Dream Divination Spell
April 29, 2019 by Melanie Marquis

On a length of white or purple ribbon, write a question for which you wish to find an answer. Tie this onto your bed frame or slip it inside your pillowcase. Before you fall asleep, state your question and express your intention to gain an answer through your dreams. Keep a notebook and pen handy so that when you wake up, you can write down any impressions that you remember. The answer might come in the form of symbols, images, or metaphors. Repeat this for seven nights or until you gain an answer. If you don’t find a satisfactory answer within the week, formulate your question another way and try again.

2019 TAURUS NEW MOON Begins SNAKE MONTH

May 4 2019 is a new Moon in the Earth Sign Taurus. The Moon is exalted in Taurus, the best sign for the Moon. Taurus is ruled by Venus, the planet named for the goddess of love, art and beauty. This lunar month is time to enjoy the beauty and creativity of springtime.

Uranus, the planet of revolution and change, entered Taurus in May 2018 for seven years until July 2015. This springtime starts a new cycle of powerful energy with potential for great transformation. On a global scale, Uranus in Earth sign Taurus indicates climate change crisis, and radical shifts about material resources such as world finances and health.

This new Moon begins Earth Snake month that’s ideal for focusing on earthly matters. There can be a symbolic shedding of the skin with spring cleaning, and a new focus on health and spirituality. To improve your health and well being, contact me for your Feng Shui consultation to clear out the old to make way for the new in this transformative Snake month.

This lunar month is excellent to plan, regroup, and complete projects from the previous active Dragon month. The Sun and new Moon trine Saturn in Capricorn for a realistic viewpoint, discipline, and patience. Mercury conjuncts Uranus bringing stimulating ideas and fresh insights.

Now can be a time to create art and beauty because Snake is an artist of the Chinese zodiac, along with Rabbit and Sheep. Contact me for your tarot card reading about creative direction, or your six month mid-year astrology forecast.

Luck is strongest for Earth signs Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn and those born in Snake, Monkey, Phoenix (Rooster), and Ox years.

Happy new Moon,

For the Dark/New Moon
Dark Chocolate Cayenne Truffles
by Laurel Reufner

Spice up the passion in your relationship with this special chocolate treat. Add in the magical intent with each ingredient for a truly special candy. If you like your food only a little spicy, add half the cayenne. And if you don’t like the kick at all, leave it out. You will need:

* 8 ounces dark chocolate, roughly chopped
* 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
* 1/4 cup powdered sugar
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 1 teaspoon ground cayenne
* 1/8 cup dark chocolate cocoa powder
* 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

In a small, heavy-bottomed saucepan, heat the dark chocolate and cream on a medium to low heat, whisking until the chocolate is melted and the two are well mixed. Remove from heat and add the sugar, vanilla, and cayenne, whisking again until combined. Transfer to a small bowl and refrigerate for two hours to allow it to set up and make it cool enough to handle.

In a small bowl, combine the dark chocolate cocoa powder and cinnamon. When the ganache is done cooling, roll the mixture into balls of about a tablespoon each, then roll the small balls in the cocoa/cinnamon mixture. Place on a baking sheet lined with wax paper. Store in the fridge until set. Keep refrigerated in a small, covered container.

Heartwings Love Notes 878: Herbs can be Gentle Healers

Heartwings says, “Herbs are not just for cooking but also for medicine.”

Many years ago a wonderful little book fell into my hands. A small paperback by Claire Loewenfeld and Phillippa Back, it was called Herbs, Health and Cookery. At the time I was pretty much confined to my home caring for my five children and eager to find things to do there to make good use of my limited leisure time. Always interested in health and healing, I was fascinated to learn that the simple herbs I used to flavor my cooking could be made into teas to help in healing physical ailments.

I read avidly and experimented. Following my advice, someone studying for her bar exam tried Rosemary tea for brain stimulation and passed with flying colors. That encouraged me to continue learning and trying different herbs for the uses described in the book. It was wonderful too that all the herbs I needed could be purchased at the grocery store and used for food preparation as well. I went on to study herbs in a variety of books and eventually even to lecture and write about them. This book launched me into a whole new mini career.

It occurred to me there might be synchronicity between certain herbs and the stories involving them. In the days before most people could read or write, information was passed on orally. One way to get people to remember something was to put it into a song or disguise it in a tale or a myth. Garlic, for instance is an excellent blood cleanser. It has antiseptic and antibiotic qualities. Once upon a time people would wear a clove of it on a string to ward off germs. It was also said to be effective against blood sucking vampires. I found it interesting that it could heal the germs that “bite” and infect the body.

I am also a folk singer and one of my favorite songs has always been “Scarborough Fair.” This song goes back many hundreds of years. I began thinking that it too might be telling me something, so I tried mixing a batch of Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme. Mixed in equal parts, the herbs proved to make a wonderful healing tea for a variety of ills, including flu and colds. One friend said she stopped taking aspirin for her aches and pains and drank this tea instead. Remembering this, I have been making this tea for myself and it really does work well for my arthritis. Herbs are fun to explore, and common kitchen herbs can be effective healing agents as well as tasty flavorings.

May you enjoy learning about ways to help yourself heal with friendly herbs.

Blessings and Best Regards, Tasha Halpert (tashahal@aol.com) (tashahal@gmail.com)

PS Do you like to use herbs in your cooking? Tell me your story. I do so enjoy hearing from readers. You make my day when you write.

Necromancy Basic Guide
by The Slavic Witch

I have wanted to write this post for awhile and each time I sat down to continue writing I was hit by a big fat no. I actually don’t write or journal notes for my blog, I just keep drafts on my online folder. But in this instance I had made a few pointers on paper and it kept going missing. At first I thought it was funny, obviously someone didn’t want me to even get to write it in my drafts, let alone hit the publish button. So finally here we are and here we go….

Necromancy can be worked in so many ways and it is a personal journey for everyone. I suppose this post is geared towards the beginner Witch and maybe just some general interest on how I do things.

In its most basic and simply definition Necromancy is a practice of calling forward and working with the dead. It can be specific people, or a general energy you are looking to work with.

Why would someone not have or not want to work with someone specific? Perhaps you don’t know of anyone that has passed that can help you manifest/influence in your favor what you need in this realm. Or perhaps you are just looking to have a chat… There are easier ways to go about that… anyway another day another post.

For example… You may need some heavy duty legal work and need a few judges on your side. Maybe some more healing or help with a pregnancy, so a nurse or midwife. What about going all out and calling up a gang of thugs or murderers. Yep I said it. Everyone has there thing… Revenge is a big one.

Here is a simple break down and I will go through each step:

Protection
Invocation
Offering
Final ritual

Some of you may find that you want to change up the steps so it resonates and works with you. I would strongly suggest you keep Protection as number 1 and the rest can follow in any order that suits you.

PROTECTION – A good place to start.. always. Dead people that you don’t normally work with is no joke guys. So make sure to protect yourselves, your work area and other living spaces and bedroom of your home. This is more of an extra step for those of you whom do not practice a lot in your own home. I am always cleansing and protecting, so I don’t make the extra effort to do another round when it comes to this practice. Always start with a shower or bath, no soap or perfumes or lotions. You are not to have any scent on you. More on this point later.

A protection method we use is a combination of vervain and rosemary sprigs dusted with black salt. These sprigs are worn on our heads and blended through our hair. I rarely if ever cast circles, but if you feel you want to, this would be a good blend to use in addition to wearing it.

Depending on how dark you go, you can take it one step further and use masks. We use masks a lot, for obvious reasons to hide our appearance and avoid eye contact. We don’t use traditional masks, although you can. Instead we use burdock leaves that have been foraged from the bottom of the stem over the 3 nights of the dark moon.

These are then attached together by stem and string and placed upon our heads so the leaves cover the front, back and both sides. This can be a bit difficult to work with, but if you are concerned with what you are calling forward, a little annoyance can be tolerated.

INVOCATION – I want to remind you that when you call out to one of the dead, all of them can hear you. Does not matter how specific you are, you get what you get. This isn’t supermarket witchcraft where you pick what you want. Whatever good intentions you may have, its never a guarantee.

During your invocation, this is the time you would state your purpose, wishes, desires and call upon the specific person or generalized dead population to help you out. Basically this is the act of calling forward the dead, offering them a beacon of light to follow and come to you. Keeping one candle on is sufficient.

You would do this through either a verbal or written petition. A personalize prayer or a meditation. This is now when the “ritual” has begun. You can include photos or other wares and trinkets that would be aligned with your person or people.

OFFERINGS – Now is the time to prepare and present your libation and offerings. Usually a plum brandy for the libation and the other is a combination of a few ingredients.

Burnt sprigs of yew
Your own blood
Sugar
Milk or colostrum
Gold or silver (optional)

Mix this all together, just keep it more on the thick side, because you will also be anointing yourself later with it. Once it is mixed, you can leave this out on your altar and speak a few words of your choice and let them know this is for them a gift. A part of you.

A few inexpensive ways to obtain and use gold for offerings is by acquiring old tea cups that have gold plated rims and old jewelry. You can break these up into smaller pieces and you will have enough to last you awhile. You can always find these cheap at garage sales or antique shops.

Final Ritual – This is the part where a bit more ceremony comes into play and you will anoint yourself with the offering you left and create a portal.

Place a mirror laying flat on the surface of your altar, with your left index finger you will draw the number “0 zero” onto the mirror with the blood offering you prepared earlier. NOT the letter O. There is a difference. For us we use the number “0” to represent the void between the living and the dead. However it is only meant to be used by them to pass in and out of.

On our body we will mark the number “1 one” on our third eye and chest bone. If you are wearing the burdock leaf, mark it on the leaf. For us the number “1” represents the human/living realm.

At this point you can move onto your automatic writing, meditation, candle gazing, mirror gazing to continue your visit with the other side to get your answers and guidance you are looking for.

Once you are done, thank them, and wipe away the “0” from the mirror, flip it over and blow out your candle.

The entire offering is then removed from the home. You can keep it outside your home, but it cannot stay inside. This includes the candle you used. As for the mirror, keep it covered when not in use. Try sticking with only using that mirror for this type of work.

Finally you must shower or bathe and when you do, this is when you will cover yourself in your usual scents. This helps confuse them since your scent is not the same and if something is still lingering.

~Slavic Witch

Self-Reflexology
By Madisyn Taylor

Exploring our feet through self-reflexology can be an easy and free way to support our mind, body and spirit.

Our feet are home to literally thousands of nerve endings and almost seventy acupuncture points, which is why foot reflexology is so effective. By massaging and stimulating specific areas on the soles of our feet, we can provide general support for our entire body, improve sleep patterns, increase physical and mental wellbeing and also alleviate chronic conditions such as sinusitis and digestive upset. Although it is wonderful to work with an experienced foot reflexologist whenever possible, we can also develop a practice of treating ourselves to a self-reflexology treatment if we take some time for this purpose before we begin our day or in the evening to relax before going to bed.

There are a number of different ways to work the soles of your feet, including walking barefoot on river stones, rolling each foot over a golf or tennis ball, or just using your fingers and hands to massage your feet. When starting a reflexology session, it’s a good idea to begin with loosening up your ankles – rotate each foot clockwise then counterclockwise about ten times. You might also want to pinch the end of your toes, which can increase circulation and drainage in your sinuses and stimulate your pituitary and pineal glands. Then you can begin massaging the ball of your foot, the arch, and the heel. If you find that an area is tender, it may indicate some distress or dysfunction occurring in the corresponding area of the body. You may want to explore what is going on with that organ or system.

Whether we are able to spend just a few minutes a day on this kind of self-care or a full half hour, our efforts are never wasted. By taking responsibility for our own health and taking time every day to connect with our body, we can not only assist our body in letting go of stress and dysfunction, but we can also continue to support an ongoing sense of wellness and vitality.

Stephen Halpert
Miss Alice’s Pink Umbrella

Although she had never met Miss Alice, assistant librarian Hilde Flowers had heard enough scuttlebutt about her to be prepared for any eventuality. Prepared for exactly what, however Hilde wasn’t sure.
Now finding herself moderating the monthly Senior Book Discussion, she began to understand.
The meeting had somehow devolved into a literary battleground. It appeared to Hilde that Miss Alice, while seemingly mild and inconsequential, might be responsible.
The focus for this month’s discussion centered on realism in fiction. Peyton Place, a controversial novel of small town New Hampshire was the initial title being discussed.
“I’d never live there,” said Bessie Flag, a part time florist of generous proportions. “That doctor! And the Mackenzie woman and her daughter!”
Carl Smung, a retired fireman, balding and a bit paunchy nodded in agreement. He usually agreed with anything Bessie Flag said. She was after all a widow and a good cook. Carl liked to eat.
Then Hilde made her fatal blunder. Because she hadn’t as yet spoken, she turned to Miss Alice in time to see her surreptitiously purloin most of the carrot sticks from the refreshment tray, dropping them into a small bag. This she ignored. “And how about you Alice? Did Peyton Place leave any lasting impressions?”
Alice sat straighter in her chair and clutched the handle of her grandmother’s pink umbrella. “I could hardly read it. It was so frightening. To me fiction has always been so terrifying and confusing. The minute one starts to take a novel seriously then all is lost! And soon it could be too late.”
Lydia Plank an insurance broker shook her head and peered at Alice. “Too late for what?”
“For everything,” Alice said. And for emphasis, she banged the metal point of her umbrella on the floor three times. That startled Miss Bubbles, the senior librarian enough to look up from her desk in surprise.
Miss Alice sighed. “Suppose you were raised to believe that the fictions you read as a child were true? Soon that innocent child couldn’t recognize what is real from the irrational or even the peculiar.”
“Could you explain that?” Carl Smung asked. He noticed Alice was slipping small slithers of celery from the platter into her bag. Poor dear must be hungry, he thought.
Alice sighed. “If as children what we are led to believe is true then over time that becomes true.”
Bessie shook her head and frowned. “I don’t understand. Isn’t there a significant difference between fiction and nonfiction? Surely we must differentiate otherwise life could prove to be extremely confusing. Look at The War of The Worlds. That’s fiction although,” she stopped and nodded, “possibly also a warning of what might actually happen.”
“Exactly,” Alice raised her forefinger. “And best to be avoided at all costs.”
Carl nodded. “Yes Bessie, a warning about interplanetary life invading earth.” He smiled approvingly at her and she smiled back.
“And I suppose now you believe that space beings will eventually attack the planet.” Alice said. “My point exactly.” She looked pleased with herself and twirled the handle of her grandmother’s pink umbrella.
“I believe it’s a possibility,” Bessie said choosing her words carefully. “One way or another everything is possible, isn’t it?”
“Well, almost everything,” Carl said. “And now they’re saying we can live forever, but I’m not so sure about that.”
“I believed that ever since I was a child.” Bessie said firmly. “My parents believed it, and it made perfect sense to me until they died.”
“We seem to be drifting,” Hilde said gently. “Let’s move on,” She decided not to pay attention to Miss Alice’s swiping practically all of the raw vegetables from the refreshment platter. Poor dear she thought. Must live on a terribly limited income. She was however curious why Alice hadn’t taken any of the brownies or baked goods from the platter.
Hilde smiled. “Has anyone had a chance to look at Catch 22?”
Alice shook her head. “How can anyone make any sense out of life if they’re continually being confused by fiction? It just isn’t fair, especially to an impressionable mind.” She banged her umbrella on the floor for emphasis causing Miss Bubbles to look up and frown.
Lydia Plank raised her eyebrows and blinked at Alice. “If I were you,” she started to say…
“You think I need to see a psychiatrist, don’t you?” Alice interrupted. “Well in case you’re interested I saw one once, several times. In conclusion, he agreed with everything I said and told me I didn’t need to see him any longer.”
Lydia sighed. “In which case why don’t you just curl up with the phone book’s yellow pages?”
Hilde began clutching at straws. She picked another title and cut to the chase. “Now how about The Return of the Native?” she asked. “There’s a very realistic work of fiction.”
Alice frowned at Lydia. “I’d rather read the yellow pages. At least that offers substantial information especially if one needs a plumber.”
Carl Smung looked at Alice. “You really avoid fiction? I’ve never known anyone who didn’t read at least a few novels.”
Bessie beamed. “I love romance novels. They’re so realistic while at the same time, warming.”
Hilde had hopes of steering the discussion away from the yellow pages. `”Of course,” she said,” there’s considerable fiction with strong overtones of reality.”
But Miss Alice persisted. “Believe me; the mind of a child is impressionable, encased in a sensitive world. Fiction during those formative years can cause lifelong dilemmas that must be confronted one way or the other. Before he told me I was fine just the way I was, my psychiatrist said I’ve adapted well to life.”
Hilde breathed and stole a look at her watch. This particular hour was crawling. She began to feel resentment toward Miss Alice. She wanted to snatch her pink umbrella and bend it in two.
Finally the hour concluded and the monthly senior book discussion group came to an end without any actual carnage or slanderous accusations. Miss Bubbles surveyed the scene but stayed at her desk.
As they were leaving Bessie took Carl aside. “I’ve baked an apple pie for desert tonight.”
“Is that an invitation?”
She looked at him coyly. “What do you think?”
He patted his tummy, took her arm and together they left.
Lydia Plank eyed Alice. ‘Sometimes I just don’t understand you.”
“Oh that’s all right,” Miss Alice said. “Sometimes I don’t understand myself either, so that makes two of us.”
Lydia Plank smiled at Hilde, gathered her armload of books and left.
Miss Alice thanked Hilde, assuring her that she’d be back next month. Then holding .

Being Truly Thankful
By Madisyn Taylor

Our gratitude deepens when we begin to be thankful for being alive and living the life we are living.

Often when we practice being thankful, we go through the process of counting our blessings, acknowledging the wonderful people, things and places that make up our reality. While it is fine to be grateful for the good fortune we have accumulated, true thankfulness stems from a powerful comprehension of the gift of simply being alive, and when we feel it, we feel it regardless of our circumstances. In this deep state of gratitude, we recognize the purity of the experience of being, in and of itself, and our thankfulness is part and parcel of our awareness that we are one with this great mystery that is life.

It is difficult for most of us to access this level of consciousness as we are very caught up in the ups and downs of our individual experiences in the world. The thing to remember about the world, though, is that it ebbs and flows, expands and contracts, gives and takes, and is by its very nature somewhat unreliable. If we only feel gratitude when it serves our desires, this is not true thankfulness. No one is exempt from the twists and turns of fate, which may, at any time, take the possessions, situations, and people we love away from us. Ironically, it is sometimes this kind of loss that awakens us to a thankfulness that goes deeper than just being grateful when things go our way. Illness and near-miss accidents can also serve as wake-up calls to the deeper realization that we are truly lucky to be alive.

We do not have to wait to be shaken to experience this state of being truly thankful for our lives. Tuning in to our breath and making an effort to be fully present for a set period of time each day can do wonders for our ability to connect with true gratitude. We can also awaken ourselves with the intention to be more aware of the unconditional generosity of the life force that flows through us regardless of our circumstances.

Weekly Horoscopes beginning Sunday, 05 May 2019

If you`re born within cusp period (16 to 26 of any month); you`re advised to read horoscopes of both signs covered by that period. You`re in the border; you may have influences from houses within those signs.

Outlines are longer versions; consists of every possible detail of everyday and based on three parts of each sign: 1st, 2nd & 3rd Decan; that is, any of three divisions of 10° within a sign of the zodiac. Even if you know or don`t know your Decan; I recommend, please read all three Decan.

Aries
Personal theme: I am!!
Fire & cardinal sign: March 21 — April 19

Your horoscope for this week:

As much as you enjoy taking on challenges, you prefer to decide when and how. Consequently, you could battle or even refuse offers as thrilling as they are sudden. If you can`t say an enthusiastic yes, at least don`t say no. The resulting encounters and events will be interesting now, but many will contribute to your way of living, working and loving in completely unexpected ways.

You`re taking on some heavy responsibilities. Some people will suggest that you should reduce your commitments and take a break. You won`t listen because you know what you are capable of. Besides, you enjoy the challenge of having a big work load. The best way to avoid arguments in the family is to be flexible. Even if you`re disappointed with a loved one`s erratic behaviour, try not to let it show. Confide your feelings to a diary instead.

Information gathered over the weekend now has to be put to good use. It may be that you need to say no or at least place boundaries by Tuesday. What may be clear is that as exciting as developments clearly are ( and at least one may be related to property), that a degree of constraint will need to be shown. Recycling could have your attention. Meanwhile, at work, and whilst showing the ropes to someone, you might also need to make clear that developing goodwill is as important as conserving resources. With an important wealth cycle coming to fresh phase on Thursday, a bargaining exercise could get underway with you potentially realising a pleasing purchase investment before the First Quarter Moon on Sunday, May 12th.

Taurus
Personal theme: I have!!
Earth & fixed sign: April 20 — May 20

Your horoscope for this week:

This year`s Taurus New Moon is on Saturday 4 May and constitutes a sort of personal new year; but, equally, the edgy planet Uranus, moved into your sign two months ago, on 5 March. Now, finally, you`re recognising that seemingly unwelcome changes are part of a pattern, one that`s about growth in elements of your life and, even more, in its joys.

The start of the week is the best time to deal with money matters. You may need to find an additional source of income. Working longer hours could be the solution to improve your financial situation but this can cause increased fatigue. When you`re mixing with people you hardly know, it will pay to be discreet. Be cautious about how much you reveal to them. Keeping your public and personal lives private is strongly advised.

As the working week gets underway, alarm bells could wring. It may be that the costs of a proposed adventure are not quite as you had assumed. This isn`t to say that it`s too expensive, but that there may be adjustments to be made. A decision might need to be taken as Mercury moves into your sign on Tuesday. Don`t underestimate your entrepreneurial talents – which are likely to surface from midweek. You may well be right in having identified a new market. Though this might require you to reach out of your comfort zone and perhaps travel more than usual, as early as the First Quarter Moon next Sunday, May 12th, it should be apparent that you`re moving forward and comfortably seated at the controls.

Gemini
Personal theme: I think!!
Air sign: May 21 — June 20

Your horoscope for this week:

When the dynamic Mars moved in to Gemini on 31 April, you began a six-week cycle of growth and exploration. While it`s been both exciting and challenging, and you`ve made a few changes, much of what`s arisen is so random it`s unlikely to fit into your life. Wait, watch and learn from experience. What proves most exciting, and rewarding, may not come together for some weeks yet.

Take the initiative and put new plans into action. This is a great time to make new starts especially if these involve travel or goals on your distant horizon. If family or friends who live abroad have been on your mind, invite them to come and stay with you or arrange to visit them. Contracts signed this week will have far reaching consequences and you will feel good about decisions made. You know there will be no regrets.

It`s entirely possible that you really have played on someone`s mind. It might take them some days to assimilate all that was said over the weekend. Whether or not you choose to develop a joint enterprise is perhaps not a decision to be made this week but certainly to be considered. Note however that your imagination could well run away with you – especially midweek. It may be that someone born under one of the Earth signs of Taurus, Virgo or Capricorn unwittingly fuels those flames. It`s probable though that you could yet be anchored; perhaps by someone born under Aries who went through a similar storm some years ago and whose advice proves invaluable. They could also assist you in moving up the career ladder. Here again, it`s important to keep one foot on the ground – though with their assistance this should be something you can do..

Cancer
Personal theme: I feel!!
Water & cardinal sign: June 21 — July 22

Your horoscope for this week:

True, the peaceful mood and insights that accompany the New Moon, on Saturday 4 May, are welcome; but they`re no help when it comes to the range of decisions you`re facing. Actually, you`re better off taking things slowly. For now, focus on asking questions, both practical, and involving deeper issues; and what about making those decisions? By mid-May, most will be crystal clear.

You could miss out on a good opportunity due to a friend`s dishonesty or duplicity. If you`ve been the victim of another person`s deceit, file a complaint. Your actions could well protect others from suffering the same fate. Instead of dwelling on a situation you cannot change, focus thought and energy into a specific project. It will give you a lot of pleasure to develop your creative talent and this work could turn out very different from what you expect.

It seems likely that you are changing career gear. Exciting as this is, taking full ownership may not be possible until around the Full Moon on May 18th. By then Mars will have entered your sign. This week you might still be feeling your way. It`s probable that you have considerable support: yet it may be that you still need to listen carefully to what it is that others want and need and then tailor a service or product to their requirements. Yes, this could leave you working flat-out – especially between Wednesday and Friday – as the Moon moves through your sign. This investment of time though could prove money in the bank for later. It should be clear to all that you`re putting professionalism at the heart of all you do. In particular, colleagues born under Aries or Capricorn should be singularly impressed with what you achieve this week.

Leo
Personal theme: I will!!
Fire & fixed sign: July 23 — August 22

Your horoscope for this week:

The past few months` events have been as disruptive as they`ve been exciting. They`ve altered elements of your perspective and, possibly, your life. These changes are continuing. While some of what`s arisen is unsettling, these are a preview of a new way of living, working and even thinking. For now, keep on exploring. Be patient. It will take time for the big picture to come together.

Be wary of someone who claims to have all the answers. You might not be able to explain why you feel suspicious about their behaviour but trust your intuition. You have a sixth sense that will help guide you in making a big decision. You aren`t likely to make a wrong choice as long as you obey your instincts. Things will happen very quickly and there`ll be a sense of urgency to the opportunities that arise. Take a deep breath and jump in with both feet.

It should be much easier to get your voice and opinions across in the days leading into the First Quarter Moon in your sign on Sunday, May 12th. An idea or decision taken roughly 9 months ago should then move forward. True, you may need to stand firm and there may be hard negotiations to have midweek. Yet an agreement could yet be reached. It`s quite possible that in these last months, prices and valuations have changed markedly. Your professionalism and expertise could be remarked upon before next weekend. Indeed, it seems likely that you`re gaining status and that there could yet be another important career or even domestic move put on the table for discussion once Mars reaches your sign in early July.

Virgo
Personal theme: I analyse!!
Earth sign: August 23 — September 22

Your horoscope for this week:

As a Virgo and an earth sign, if you know what`s what, you can cope with unreasonable people and sudden developments; but with the foundation on which arrangements are based shifting, as they must, facts are scarce and often unreliable. This leaves you to learn what you can or, which is far better, to rely on your intuition. Although you`ve no choice, it`s your best option.

It isn`t easy to work or live with someone who thinks only of themselves. As a Virgo, it gives you great pleasure to be of service to others. If someone has been taking advantage of this side of your nature, it might be time to redress the balance and make a few demands of your own. You don`t mind routine because this represents the security and stability that is your life. Just as, in your relationships, you like to know where you stand at all times.

Increased contact with those who work some distance away from you is probable. This could be driven by practical demands. There could yet be opportunities emerging as of midweek. True, this might require that you draw a line or give notice. It may be though that one relationship is coming to its natural conclusion. A twist on this may be that a fresh contract has to be agreed. In short, between the New Moon on May 4th and the First Quarter on May 12th, your working life could go off at interesting tangent. Anticipate more work coming your way but that your efforts will be both recognised and rewarded. It is perhaps not too much to suggest that you might even have a new title. Even if given in jest, this should make clear your value to a team.

Libra
Personal theme: I balance!!
Air & cardinal sign: September 23 — October 22

Your horoscope for this week:

You`re capable of astonishing patience, but this requires that you understand the nature of events and the role of those individuals involved. Yet with circumstances shifting and changes in who`s doing what, you`re bewildered. While, as a Libra, you can`t stop observing what`s taking place, you can do something out of character. You make a point of not organising who does what, and when.

Your relationships with people in high places have been a little tense lately. The good news is that they will soon show signs of improving or they will be set on a more mutually appreciative footing. A meeting you had been nervous about will go better than expected. In fact, a career issue won`t be half as problematic as you imagined it was going to be. A creative colleague will help you see solutions you hadn`t considered before.

As you know, yours is the sign of the scales. Perhaps more than any other sign, you enjoy weighing up options. To get those options in the first place though requires gaining knowledge. This week your craving to know and understand is heightened.. True, this could be driven by either financial or health pressures. It might even be that in both cases you need to gain better understanding of how systems and technology work. Be confident that you can do this even if on Tuesday you feel faced and overwhelmed by responsibility. Before the First Quarter Moon on Sunday 12th, your scales could not only be back in balance, but a partnership gain significant strength with the promise of even more reward after Mars moves into another of the Cardinal signs midmonth.

Scorpio & Ophiuchus
Personal theme: I desire!!
Water & fixed signs: October 23 — November 21

Your horoscope for this week:

Although you`d rather not face the dramas you fear will be the outcome of sudden changes, in the world around you, in the lives of others and in your own situations, they seem worryingly inevitable. Actually, they`re not, mostly because the pace is slow. Be patient. As these events unfold, it will become clear they`re about timely growth, in others` circumstances, and in yours.

You`re having trouble seeing eye to eye with a relative or housemate. It will be tempting to let them have their own way for the sake of peace, but this may not be the best solution. The tension could become far worse and you will grow resentful if you don`t stand up for yourself and your ideas. New group activities or helping to arrange a fundraising event provides a welcome release from your daily routines. A talk with a friend will help keep anxiety at bay.

The working week could get off to a fairly irritating start. Exasperation that others have not been as on the case as you`d hoped, might even lead to you losing your temper. By the time Mercury reaches your opposite sign on Tuesday, it may be necessary to point out responsibilities and boundaries. With that done however, you could yet be pleasantly surprised by the way in which certain people `run off with the ball` and indeed, show near genius talent for moving things forward. A strong possibility is growing recognition that certain rules and regulations are no longer fit for purpose and that a colleague is correct in thinking that new terms and conditions must be agreed. Being part of the team that put these in place could yet be exciting – especially when it becomes clear that one of your hidden talents or an old experience can yet be recycled and put to excellent use.

Sagittarius
Personal theme: I see!!
Fire sign: November 22 — December 21

Your horoscope for this week:

Watching longstanding arrangements or plans you`ve worked hard to organise come undone is annoying. Even worse, it`s clear there`s no going back. Resist the temptation revive these and instead focus on the new, if somewhat worrying, developments coming your way. Yes, they`re taking you in unfamiliar directions. Actually, that`s the point. You`re in a cycle of growth, and this is what it looks like.

A relative`s complaints will hurt you and mistakes that happened in the past are being blamed on you. When emotions start to mount during a heated conflict, count to ten. Stay calm then dig and delve until you find what you need to prove it was not your fault. It is time to make some changes. If a little voice tells you to follow a certain direction, you could be pleasantly surprised at where this will take you. Trust your intuition.

It is fairly normal at this time of year for those born under your sign to consider diet and exercise. This year that may be rather more important than usual. For a variety of reasons, you might determine that this must be priority. Likely assisted greatly by the opposition of Mars to your ruling planet, Jupiter (still moving through your sign) as of Sunday, you could employ a new strategy aided and abetted by someone most likely born under one of the Cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn. Implementing this new plan might not be as hard as first appears. Indeed, as of Tuesday when Mercury changes signs, discussing options and ensuring you have the requisite practical assistance ought not to be difficult. At many level, it seems that you are moving toxins out of the body. A variation on this would be space clearing. In this respect, you could also realise cash. An item that no longer has value for you might have considerable elsewhere – thus improving your cash flow.

Capricorn
Personal theme: I use!!
Earth & cardinal sign: December 22 — January 19

Your horoscope for this week:

While you could probably prove your plans were wise, it`s not worth the effort. That may seem defeatist if not insulting; but the fact is, certain once-worthwhile arrangements can`t continue as they are, and that`s likely to mean abandoning certain familiar elements of your life. True, usually you`re the one who`s organising things. For now, you`re on the side-lines, observing, which is perfect.

Someone you see regularly and whose company you usually enjoy is behaving strangely. They aren`t in a very good mood, but they won`t say what is on their mind. You will swiftly realise it`s wise to give them a wide berth. You can catch up with them later when their mood improves. Your income will soon be on the rise thanks to a partner`s good fortune. Wait until you`ve had the chance to digest what this may mean, before splashing out.

It`s likely imperative that you have a good strategy in place at the start of this working week. Others may be looking to you to take the lead and reliant on your recent experiences to put the early building blocks of a new project into place. It`s unlikely that your professionalism will be questioned: rather the challenge may be to find ways of working with someone younger who`s yet to learn the ropes. Considerable patience will no doubt be required. Meanwhile and, as they say, `back at the ranch`, it`s entirely possible that a close partner is moving their career forward too. They might require your patience and understanding too -especially when it appears that a schedule is tighter than they had anticipated. The promising news is that someone from an older generation seems ready to assist you both.

Aquarius
Personal theme: I know!!
Air & fixed sign: January 20 — February 18

Your horoscope for this week:

In early March, your ruling planet Uranus moved into the part of your chart that accents the structure of your life, beginning a cycle of change. While some were welcome, others seemed disruptive. Ironically, on reflection, you`re recognising the latter as breakthroughs. It`s the same this week. Tempting as it is to keep things as they were, if ever there was a time to go with the flow, it`s now.

Some people are promising bigger things than they can deliver. Most of the time you can sense when someone is exaggerating the truth. This helps you determine which are the most realistic and sincere offers. You are hoping that your best friend will listen to your advice about a romantic matter. It seems to be clear to everyone but them that they`re getting involved with someone who can`t be trusted. Be diplomatic.

Yours is a sign well-known for thirst for knowledge and opinion. As Mars opposes Jupiter at the start of this working week, that need to know more and indeed, to go on a crusade or quest challenging others` thinking along the way, is prominent. In some ways, you could appear like a foot soldier determined to achieve a goal. Others should stand clear – especially from Tuesday as Mercury begins its transit over the base of your solar chart. Yes, there could be moments when the more sentimental side of you shows through. It should be clear to all though, that you have a very definite goal in mind and that you are going to achieve it. True, the focus of your energy will no doubt alienate some whilst also prompting others to join your merry band. Anticipate that this could be something of a political week where you thrive on debate and argument.

Pisces
Personal theme: I believe!!
Water sign: February 19 — March 20

Your horoscope for this week:

Sometimes, however good things are going, certain individuals will complain. They`ll then demand somebody remedy what they perceive as problems. Often, you`ve been on the receiving end of those demands, as you will be this week. While, in the past, you`ve said little, this week it`s vital you state a firm and non-negotiable `no`. Anything less, and others` troubles will land on your doorstep.

You`re starting to see some big business people through new eyes. You had expected your boss to take the lead. Instead, they will take a step back to allow others to voice ideas. It will be fun to experiment with fresh concepts. A dilemma later in the week will involve a new romance or friendship. Take a deep breath and do what your heart says is the best thing for you and you`ll be pleasantly surprised.

Mars and Jupiter reach their opposition at the start of this working week: arguably putting you in the mood to use a strategic approach to career issues. That this follows on from an extra-ordinary New Moon suggests you might take practical steps to improving your situation. Yes, this could also lead you toward intense debate or even a fight. Whilst you might not necessarily win, it should be clear (especially to those born under the Cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn) that you are no walkover and that you have very definite plans as to which way you want to move next. Interestingly, it might also be that a Leo-born colleague has much to say about developments. If you`ve felt undervalued, it is likely that they`ve experienced that too. You could yet team up together and even before the Full Moon on May 18th make significant improvement both in your working alliance and your friendship.
