In many different traditions lighting a candle is a sacred action. It expresses more than words can express. It has to do with gratefulness. From time immemorial, people have lit candles in sacred places. You may want to begin or end your day by the sacred ritual of lighting a candle on this gratefulness. Or you may want to light a birthday candle for a friend. One single guideline is all you need: Slow down and do it with full attention.

Llewellyn’s Spell a Day

A Candle Flame Divination
Spell Date: Tuesday, March 19, 2019

Candles are used a great deal at this time of year for decorative purposes, but a candle flame can also be used to divine the future. For this ritual you’ll need three white candles. They should be the same size and shape. Arrange them on a table or altar so they form a triangle. Light them safely.

Think of a yes-no question. Here’s how you read the flames. If all the flames burn steadily, the answer is yes. If one flame sparks or goes out, you’ll have an obstacle but you’ll get what you want. If two or all the flames spark or go out, the answer is no. If all the flames sway or move in a circle, the answer hasn’t been formed yet in the unseen realm. In this case, wait a few days and try again. When done, snuff out the candles.

Ask Father Mars for Help
Spell Date: Tuesday, March 19, 2019

March is, of course, ruled by Mars. So is Tuesday (mardi in French). Originally called Marspiter (Father Mars), Mars was an Etruscan and Sabine agricultural god. His mother was Juno, his father, a flower. After Mars fathered Romulus and Remus and moved to the city, the Romans built him a temple on the Palatine Hill, and he became a god of defensive warfare because the Romans needed someone to defend their fields and produce.

If you’re feeling unsafe where you live or work, call on Mars for protection:

“Great Father Mars,
please come to my aid.
[Explain the danger you’re in.]
Father Mars, you protect your
people and your territory.
I am your friend. Please
send protection to me.

When I needed protection from violent neighbors, I appealed to Mars. He sent two legionaries to stand at my door. No one else could see them, but they kept me safe.

Persephone Oil
Spell Date: Wednesday, March 20, 2019

Today is a powerful day indeed: the moon is full and it is the vernal equinox! Persephone rises from the underworld full of potential and warmth, ushering in the brilliance of lunar manifestation. Today is a great day for mixing and empowering Persephone Oil for work that will bring truth where there are secrets, light where there is darkness, and hope where there is fear.

Combine one part each cypress, ylang-ylang, and dragon’s blood oil, then dilute by half with a carrier oil (such as sweet almond, fractionated coconut, or 0live oil). Place the mixture someplace where you can empower it under the moonlight tonight, and say:

“Persephone, Persephone,
bring me your rays.
Persephone, Persephone,
bring warmer days!”

Allow your Persephone Oil to soak up lunar energy tonight, then store it away from direct light afterward.

Purim Protection Spell
Spell Date: Thursday, March 21, 2019

Today is Purim, a Jewish holiday that celebrates the salvation of the Jews from Haman’s plot to kill them all. You don’t have to be Jewish to observe this holiday as a reprieve from intolerance and genocide. It’s a great day for casting protection spells.

You’ll need a symbol for any god or goddess of protection, along with a vessel to carry the spell. Money works, and so do hamantaschen or other edibles. Cast a circle, then invoke your favorite protective deity and ask for their help. Focus on your desire to give protection, then put that into the vessel. Give thanks to your protective patron, then release them and your circle.

Distribute the vessel to people who need protection or other resources. Ideally they should be folks you know personally, but if you don’t know anyone suitable, you may give to a charity instead

Worry Bubble
Spell Date: Friday, March 22, 2019

Humans may be hard-wired to worry. Our awareness of danger has allowed us to survive and evolve. But there is a difference between normal concern and preparedness and the crazy-making worry about things we cannot control. Additionally, if our thoughts become things (as many believe), then it follows that scary thoughts may bring about the feared calamity.

If you find yourself tipping into that crazy-worry state of mind, bring yourself up short and deliberately change the scenario. Envision a large, clear bubble of protection around the person, place, or thing that causes concern and say:

“My (family, home, car,
workplace) is protected.”

Simply say or think the basic All is well, all will be well, all will always be well, and you have done all you can to dispel the negative and get back on track.

“Safe, secure, and solvent,
Happy, healthy, and whole,
My family is protected.
All is well, life is good.”

The Keys of Life
Spell Date: Saturday, March 23, 2019

Gift a couple the keys to happiness and success with this fun spell. Gather seven old skeleton keys and a golden key ring. Attach a rainbow ribbon and a shipping tag to each key. Upon each tag write the Venusian keys to love:

1: Trust, exhibited as equally reciprocated
2: Understanding, extended to others always
3: Love, given as well as received freely
4: Forgiveness, grappled with regularly
5: Gratitude, exhibited daily
6: Resources, united and equally occupied
7: Vision, shared goals for the future secured

Tie all of the ribbons in multiple bows and place them all on the golden ring. Place one final tag on the ring and write:

“In thought, speech, and
action, I pledge.”

Gift this charm to couples as a blessing evocative of the golden rules of cooperative happiness in partnership. Consult elders in your family to learn new keys and create a tradition of passing on the wisdom that works.

Aquamarine Ritual
Spell Date: Sunday, March 24, 2019

Aquamarine is the birthstone for March. Today, utilize its strong protective magick to ensure your inner tranquility.

Go to a gem or bead shop and purchase four pieces of aquamarine.

Grab a small shovel and head out to your favorite place for ritual work, on your property or elsewhere. A beach or the forest works well.

With each step you take, say:
“Vitality, health, hope, tranquility.”

This will set your mind at ease and plant you firmly in the here and now.

Once you reach your location,

face north, bury a piece of aquamarine, and say firmly:

Face east, bury the second piece of aquamarine, and recite:

Facing south, bury the third piece of stone and say:

Face west, bury the final piece of gemstone, and affirm:

Sit in the center of this power circle. Close your eyes and soak in the qualities you have planted.

Leave the aquamarines buried for a fortnight. Return and dig up the stones. Now you have four charged aquamarine stones ready to use in other sacred work.

Celebrate Spring: Ways To Empower Your Life

The Promise of New Beginnings

~ At last, the season, Spring awakes,
to honor all from Winter’s break.
To offer up more green, more light,
with equal parts of day and night…
You offer us a brand-new turn,
and find new ways that we can learn,
about the promise that you’ve made,
to make anew each day, each day.
Again, I’m grateful for this time,
when life begins to sing and shine.
away from winter’s frigid touch,
and grant us all more love and such!”

Spring begins with the vernal equinox today. As the earth is tilted so that the sun is directly over the equator, this signifies the start of the vernal equinox. The word “equinoxis” derived from the Latin words meaning “equal night”. This time of Spring has been celebrated over the centuries as the beginning of the rebirth period.

The Spring Season is probably one of the most embraced and most significant of the season changes, for it denotes the start of new life, regeneration of nature and the renewal of the spirit.

Here are some wonderful suggestions for having a bountiful Spring:

The Spring Season is probably one of the most embraced and most significant of the season changes, for it denotes the start of new life, regeneration of nature and the renewal of the spirit. Here are some wonderful suggestions for having a bountiful Spring:

1. Time to declutter: Feng Shui or the “art of placement” is a centuries-old tradition of aligning and visualizing the free flow of “vital energy” in and around your life! It starts be decluttering the home, office, and life around you in order to create a better flow of “unobstructed energy”. It is the honoring of our ancestors and respect for nature and our surroundings. Learn how to declutter your life… (

2. Detox that body!: It is easy to do a detox in the Spring and therefore, the best way to keep the body at its most optimum, working level. By enjoying lighter, cooler, healthy, Spring foods, getting good quality sleep and moderate exercise, this can keep our physical form at it’s best.. Learn ways to care for your skin, our greatest detoxing organ, find the best herbs for detoxing and clean up your diet to improve total body function! Learn more about detoxing… (

3. Get back to exercise: Exercise is what your body instinctively wants to do especially under stress: fight or flight, and it works. It burns off some of the stress chemicals which tension produces. Therefore, a tired muscle is a relaxed muscle. Regular exercise builds stamina that can help anyone battle stress. But even something as casual as a walk around the block can help you burn off some of the tension that you carrying around. Get started today… (

4. Change your medicine chest: With the change of seasons from Winter to Spring, we need to change our supplies in our medicine cabinet. Use the herbs in tincture, pill or capsule form. Astragalus restoring both resilience and immunity and efficiency of metabolism. Burdock Root helps to purify blood and restores the liver by reducing build-up of toxins in the skin and helps gallbladder function and immunity. Dandelion Root is an excellent tonic for the liver and blood purifier. It’s best for a variety of liver and gallbladder problems. Echinacea is used in the treatment of infected wounds and burns or eruptive skin complaints. Helpful in retiring bacterial, viral and fungal infections.. 5. Rekindle your creativity: Living is an act of creativity. Not just being an artist, writer, painter but the sheer act of living is a creative force that we often do not acknowledge. Living consciously and with awareness is an act of even deeper creativity. On many levels, creativity is an inner process: what you dream, imagine, and then give physical form to, is the transition from inner insight to an outer process. This is what you create. Making a dream or an idea a reality. Creativity is often used to refer to the process of creating new ideas, actions or approaches. Innovation is the process of both generating and applying such creative ideas in some specific context. Find your creative spark… (

6. Cope with anger: You’ve been holding on to this for some time and now is the time to deal with it. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine and the paradigm of Feng Shui, Spring is the emotion of anger. Anger is the feeling we experience when events in our world are not going according to our plans. Anger is one of the most common and destructive delusions affecting our minds. Because it is based on an exaggeration, anger is an expression of our belief system and how we defend it. It’s as if we have an inner idea of how things, events, and people should be for us. When we get angry and either feel frustrated or try to change them, we tend to give away our power! Many of us remain a victim to our tempers all of our lives. In essence, anger is the feeling we get when we want to control the world around us. Learn how to cope with anger…

7. Explore your surroundings: Exploring our surroundings can give us a new found outlook on life! Get out there, smell the flowers, take a walk, rediscover nature. Spring offers us a refreshing new look at the world around us as it opens itself up to new possibilities. Take a cue from the change of seasons and try opening yourself up to all the possibilities that await. Try this walking meditation… (

Giving with Unconditional Love is True Charity

In St. Paul’s well known Letter to the Corinthians, Book 1, Chapter 13, he speaks of the nature of true charity. He lists ways to give and to each he adds “and have not true charity” (to paraphrase) “what I do is hollow and meaningless.” His description of true charity is the equivalent of a definition of unconditional love. The giving of love in unconditional ways means we do not expect anything back from our giving, nor do we make any judgments about those to whom we are giving.
Doing this necessitates the undoing of a lot of old programming we have learned from the adults around us as we are growing up. It is natural to be judgmental. To one degree or another, we all are. The first lesson is to become aware of how and when we are, and the second is to stop the attitude before it reaches words or action. Recently I was given a wonderful example of a positive approach to true charity.
It is a sweet story, and I want to share it because It seems as though it provides such a good example of unconditional love. A dear friend who no longer lives close by called me recently to catch up on our mutual activities. As we chatted about our lives and what we had been doing, she confided in me that she had taken on an interesting Lenten discipline. For Lent this year she decided to be of service to the homeless population.
Several times a week or more she purchases food and toiletries with her own money and goes to where homeless people are gathered. She offers them a choice between food and toiletries, and she shares her purchases with those in need. She converses with them, interacting with them without judgment or feelings of pity. Some are grateful, others want both or more, and she very reasonably tells them that no, they must share. Sometimes a conversation ensues, and she participates in it peacefully and without preaching.
What she is doing is true charity: giving with unconditional love. This is often difficult for us to do because often when we give we expect something back even if only thanks. We may also put parameters on our giving: “if I do this for you, you must do this for me,” the “this” being anything from cleaning up or attending a service, to giving up something they may wish to keep doing. This kind of giving is not true charity. It is a kind of manipulation or at least an attempt to manipulate.
We learn bribery as small children. Our parents hold out a treat in order to get us to do something, and it engenders an attitude that we may keep as adults. “If you do this for me, I will do that for you,” is example. When we want something from someone it is all too easy to act thus. Giving without wanting anything back, and even more, interacting with those who are often shunned and despised for their behavior, is true charity. It warmed my heart to hear what she was doing, and I told her so.

Not Always Easy
By Madisyn Taylor

When an idea is meant to be, it comes back to us time and time again.

Some of our goals and dreams come to fruition so easily that it is as if an unseen hand has done much of the work for us. When this happens, we say it must have been meant to be. On the other hand, when dreams and goals require a tremendous amount of effort, we may interpret this to mean that our dream is not meant to be. However, difficulty is not necessarily a sign that our hopes and plans are ill-fated. On the contrary, difficulties and challenges along the path can be important parts of the project’s overall meaning.

When everything goes smoothly, we feel blessed by the universe, as if a fleet of angels is guiding and supporting our every move. When things are rough or ambiguous, we sometimes feel that we have been abandoned. And yet, the truth is that we are blessed in both cases. Our angels and guides are always present. They may choose at times to back off and let us figure something out for ourselves, and this is when things seem difficult. But when things are difficult, we learn and grow in specific ways. There is a unique satisfaction that comes to us when we succeed at something that has been a challenge. Our sense of self-reliance expands, and our ability to endure and keep the faith is stronger for having been tested. We learn that we are capable of confronting and overcoming the obstacles in our path, and this empowers us to dream still bigger dreams, knowing that we will not be daunted by the challenges inherent in birthing them.

When we find ourselves facing difficulties with a particular plan or project, the chances are we know already whether we are meant to continue on or let it go. We simply need to look within ourselves for the answer. When an idea is meant to be, it comes back to us time and time again. Then we know we can go forward, no matter what challenges arise, knowing that it is meant to be.

Magee Part 12

We drove straight from the airport to Charley and Aunt Bea’s condo near the lake outside town. Sippi drove. Raven was texting furiously. When we got there Raven unleashed me. “Go for it, Magee. See what you can pick up.”
I raced through the back yard and gardens acclimating myself to the scents and energy. It felt so different being here than in New York. Scents were fewer but more distinctive. It didn’t take me long to pick up Snowflake’s scent. Sadly it ended abruptly mid way across from Aunt Bea’s herb garden. Just like that. One minute her scent was strong, the next, there was nothing. This couldn’t be right. I had to figure this out.
I started sniffing the grass more closely. A sharp smell hit me. My eyes watered. I shook my head to try to get rid of the discomfort in my eyes. It only got worse. Had Snowflake had been sprayed by something and then carried away? I tried sending dog think messages. They usually work but not this time. That’s when I feared that Snowflake wasn’t alive anymore. Maybe that was why she hadn’t contacted me the way Desdemona had and my deceased owner companion Marjorie still does? I started barking.
Sippi and Raven came right over.
Sippi picked me up and peered at my face. “What’s going on?” she said. “Look at your eyes Magee. Something’s irritating them. They’re all bloodshot.” She sniffed. “What can it be?” She held my face close to hers and sniffed again. “It smells something like ammonia, or maybe chloroform.”
I started blinking and was glad that Sippi brought me into Aunt Bea’s kitchen. “Poor baby,” Aunt Bea said. “Maybe eye drops would help. There’s some right on the kitchen table.”
“Thanks, Aunt Bea.” Sippi used the human eye drops to sooth my eyes and I felt better right away.
Raven followed Sippi in and closed his device. “Some pretty harried messages. Nothing I can’t handle though.” He looked at me. I could give him some homeopathic arnica? I have some in my kit.”
Sippi showed my eyes. “I’ll be was taking him to the vet later this afternoon to make sure he’s all right.”
I wagged my tail. It was so nice she was taking such good care of me.
Raven looked concerned. “Be careful Sippi. Something’s way out of whack. This whole Spikes business isn’t playing out the way it should. Those two Russian heavies the feds took away were released. They were granted diplomatic immunity from higher up and sent off in a cab. No idea where they are.”
Aunt Bea poured cups of tea. Charley Smiles took a shot of Brandy from his silver decanter.
“Any word from Maga and Ouspenski?” Sippi asked.
“Not since they dropped us off at the airport for the flight home.”
I yawned and wished I could go to sleep. But I’m a cop and right then that wouldn’t be the right thing to do. I had to stay alert, especially if Snowflake tried contacting me.”
But Sippi caught on to my weariness. She picked me up and took me to the couch. “Magee stretch out and relax, you’ve had a hard day.” To close the deal she tossed me a spicy shrimp ball and then covered me with one of Aunt Bea’s hand knit shawls.
Sippi’s device chimed. It was Chief Mallory. She listened, closed it and turned to Raven. “They dismantled the explosives around the canister Magee dug up. It was full of Russian bonds and stock certificates, but no gold.”
“That might have been Spikes payment. Maybe Spikes didn’t steal the gold. I’ll bet those were his payment. After all he was just a contractor buying concrete for Putin. ”
“A shady contractor from the Bronx with mob connections,” Sippi said. “I’ll bet those bonds are worth millions.”
Raven’s device rang. It was his boss from the Boston office. He listened and frowned. “Ok I’ll see him there.” He signed off and turned to Sippi.
“Apparently Mills was upset we returned from New York as fast as we did. Seems he wanted us there out of the way, investigating Spikes’ foundry.”
“Knowing we’d find nothing.” Sippi frowned. “Sounds like he intentionally sent us a wild goose chase.”
Raven nodded. “My Director had not been informed that those Russian thugs were released into Mills’ custody. Seems Mills was put in charge of the case and is headed here to reinvestigate the Spikes’ mansion ruins.”
Aunt Bea came in. Her voice was stressed, her face crinkled with concern. “Any word about my Snowflake.”
My ears perked up.
Instead of answering, Raven turned to Sippi. “Hope you’ve got a new dress for the Reunion. It’s next weekend.”
She frowned; her voice was sharp. “How am I supposed to think about something like that? I’m on a case. Besides we were just in NYC. I don’t want to go back there again soon.”
“We won’t!” Raven assured her. “It’s being held in Springfield at the Basketball Hall of Fame.”
Sippi’s eyes widened. “The Hall of Fame? Raven, you never told me it was at no Hall of Fame. I assumed it was in some fat cat hotel in NYC.”
His voice was soft: “I thought you knew. We get the same emails.”
“Raven I hardly ever look at email. You want my attention write it down on a piece of paper and put a stamp on the envelope, or tell me in person.”
“It’s the 21st Century Sippi. I don’t like it any more than you do, but emails are the way of the world.”
She raised her eyebrows. “Oh, my! I’ll have to buy a new dress and get my hair…”
“You’ve got a week. All we have to do is clean up this case.”
Aunt Bea sighed. “And find Snowflake, oh please!” she said.
Raven’s device sounded again. He opened it and listened. Then he closed it and said. “That was my boss. Apparently Mills and those two Russians are now in his custody and they’re all headed to the Spikes place.”
Suddenly Sippi was all business. “Ok Magee time to go to work.”
Feeling refreshed and alert, I jumped up and wagged my tail. The game was afoot and I was ready.

Spring Detox for Your Home!
by Crooked Bear Creek Organic Herbs

Spring is the time of year that we start eating lighter and detoxing. It’s time for spring cleaning of body, mind, and home! While there is a lot of focus on what we eat, often not enough attention is paid to how we clean our homes… Making sure that all of your household cleaning products are naturally-derived is extremely important – especially if you have children. The products we use every day may give off toxins that we then breathe in or absorb through our skin. They may also pollute the air in our environment. Studies have shown that environmental toxicity is a contributor to many conditions such as autoimmune disease, heart disease and even cancer(1). The chemicals found in many common household cleaners are carcinogens which mean that they can cause cancer. Bleach and ammonia are highly toxic and, when mixed together, they are a lethal combination(2). Other chemicals which are hormone and endocrine disruptors are glycol ethers and phthalates (3) so it’s important to be able to identify every ingredient on a label that you are using in your home. If you can’t identify it, don’t use it. With just a few simple ingredients, including some wonderfully fragrant essential oils, you can disinfect and clean, as well as rid your home of bacteria, mold, viruses, unpleasant odors, and dust mites.

As a caution, when you buy essential oils you should beware of anything that says “fragrance added.” If it does not say “100% (pure) essential oils” then the ingredient is synthetic. Most of the fragrance used in household cleaning products and deodorizers are synthetic. There is nothing natural about them and they are harmful to your health. Essential oils are great for the home since they are non-toxic and they possess many therapeutic properties that will benefit you for a clean healthy home. They are antiseptic, disinfectant, anti-bacterial, anti-microbial and anti-fungal – and of course, they smell great.

These are some recipes I created to get you through all your spring cleaning. I use sweet orange (Citrus sinensis) in all three recipes so you don’t have to go out and buy too many essential oils; however, I am also giving you a list of essential oils you can substitute. The citrus oils are all antiseptic, disinfectant, anti-bacterial, anti-microbial and anti-fungal so you can replace orange oil with lemon (Citrus limon), grapefruit (Citrus x paradisi) or lime (Citrus aurantifolia) essential oil.

It’s also fun to experiment and mix scents that you like. It might even make you enjoy cleaning!

General All-purpose Cleaner

Lemon (Citrus limon)
Lemon is one of the most popular citrus fruits in the world. It is extracted from the rind of the fruit. It is antiseptic, a disinfectant, anti-bacterial and anti-microbial, making it a great all-purpose household cleaner. It was even used during World War I as a disinfectant in hospitals. Lemon essential oil is calming but it is also refreshing to the mind, as it helps lift negative emotions. It is believed that inhaling lemon essential oil helps to increase concentration and alertness; therefore, it can be a great room freshener in offices.

Orange Sweet (Citrus sinensis)

Orange Sweet is a citrus essential oil that is extracted from the rind of the orange. It is antiseptic, anti-fungal and anti-microbial. It is also very uplifting for your mood, making it a good scent to have in any home. Sweet orange essential oil is an excellent degreaser and cleaner due to an ingredient called, d-Limonene. A study conducted by The University of Arkansas and Colorado State University found that Valencia orange (Citrus sinensis var. Valencia) essential oil inhibited E. Coli and Salmonella during the refrigeration process of beef(3). It also inhibited Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) which is a deadly staph infection(4).

Peppermint (Mentha x Piperita)
Peppermint essential oil is extracted from the leaves of a herb. It is a hybrid of spearmint (Mentha spicata) and water mint (Mentha aquatica). It is antibacterial, antifungal, antimicrobial and antiseptic. Bugs tend not to like it, so it is a good choice to add to an all-purpose aromatherapy blend around the house.

White Distilled Vinegar
White Distilled Vinegar is one of the best cleaning ingredients for the home since it is a natural disinfectant. It can help to kill mold, bacteria, and viruses. In addition, it is very inexpensive.

Directions for Use:
You will need a sixteen-ounce size spray bottle.

Essential Oils:
20 drops Lemon (Citrus limon)
30 drops Orange Sweet (Citrus sinensis)
15 drops Peppermint (Mentha x Piperita)

White Distilled Vinegar*
Distilled Water*

*Fill the remaining bottle with a 50/50 combination of white vinegar and distilled water. I prefer distilled water but if you don’t have distilled water, use filtered water. Once you have all of the ingredients in the bottle, shake it prior to every use because the essential oils and water will separate. If you want to change the scent, from time to time you can substitute with lime, grapefruit, eucalyptus (Eucaplyptusspp.), clove bud (Syzygium aromaticum) and lavender (Lavandula angustifolia).

You can use this blend as a general cleaner for your kitchen, especially for the countertops, refrigerator, cabinets, and even wood surfaces.
Window Cleaner

I like using an eight-ounce size bottle since it’s smaller and easier to handle and it will fit in any cabinet. If you want to make a sixteen-ounce bottle, just double up the recipe.

Essential Oils:

3 drops Lemon (Citrus limon)

3 drops Peppermint (Mentha x Piperita)

White Distilled Vinegar*
Distilled Water*

*Fill the remaining bottle with a 50/50 combination of white vinegar and distilled water. I prefer distilled water but if you don’t have distilled water, you can use filtered water. Once you have all of the ingredients in the bottle, shake it prior to every use because the essential oils and water will separate. If you want to change the scent from time to time, you can substitute lemon with lime, grapefruit or orange.
Bath and Sink Scrub

Clove (Syzygium aromaticum)
Clove essential oil is extracted from the buds of the clove plant. It is antibacterial, anti-fungal, anti-microbial, antiseptic and antiviral, making it a great choice for cleaning tubs and sinks.

Orange Sweet (Citrus sinensis)
See above description under General All-purpose Cleaner

Pure Liquid Castile Soap
Make sure that your soap is pure Castile. I use Dr. Bronner’s castile soap because for over 150 years it has been a family-run business and the quality of the product is never comprised of profit. The soap is pure and organic, with no dyes, whiteners or synthetic fragrances. The bottles are made from 100% recycled plastic so you are doing something good for the environment. They are available in different scents such as orange, sweet almond (Prunus Dulcis), eucalyptus, lavender, peppermint and lemon, and the soap blends perfectly with essential oils. You should have this product in your home as it has so many uses and can replace many products. I also use it as a hand and body wash, and shampoo – and you can even wash floors and clothes with it.

Baking Soda (Sodium bicarbonate)
Baking soda is right up there with vinegar as a cleaning superstar! It is non-toxic, absorbs odor, and it is great for sinks and tubs due to its abrasive texture. It has many uses in the home – from brushing your teeth to shining silver. I never use toxic oven cleaners. Instead, I mix baking soda and water to get rid of spills in my oven. You can rub it on with a soft cloth or leave some on the spills overnight and then wash it the next day.

Use a twelve-ounce glass jar with an airtight clamp lid or a screw top.

Essential Oils:
5 drops Clove bud (Syzygium aromaticum)
5 drops Orange Sweet (Citrus sinensis)

½ cup Pure Liquid Castile Soap*
½ cup Baking Soda*

*I mix equal parts of baking soda and castile soap to make a paste. If you want to make a bigger batch just double-up the recipe. Add the baking soda and castile soap to the jar, then add the essential oils. Once you have all of the ingredients in the jar, mix it together with a spoon or spatula. You can apply a small amount to a cloth or sponge to clean.

As the seasons change, or you just want to try a different aroma, you can use ten drops of any of the following essential oils, or just mix two essential oils together. They all have antiseptic, disinfectant, anti-bacterial, anti-microbial and anti-fungal properties.

• Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia)
• Eucalyptus Globulus (Eucalyptus globulus)
• Rosemary ct. cineole (Rosmarinus officinalis)
• Peppermint (Mentha x Piperita)
• Lemon (Citrus limon)
• Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)

Wood Cleaner

Orange Sweet (Citrus sinensis)
See above description under General All-purpose Cleaner

Olive Oil (Olea europaea)
Olive oil moisturizes dry wood and gives it a shine.

White Distilled Vinegar
See above description under General All-purpose Cleaner

You will need a two-ounce flip top bottle.

Essential Oil:
15 drops Orange Sweet (Citrus sinensis)
½ ounce of White Distilled Vinegar
Olive Oil (Olea europaea)*

*Fill the remaining bottle with olive oil. Once you have all of the ingredients in the bottle, shake it prior to every use. Put about a tablespoon on a soft cloth and wipe down the wood. Apply more as needed.

Personal theme: I am!!
Fire & cardinal sign: March 21 — April 19

Your horoscope for this week:

On Wednesday the 20th, the Sun`s move into Aries ended the recent period of enforced inaction, which means finally you`re able to take advantage of all you`ve learnt. Tempting as it is to plunge in, move slowly. Between now and the powerful Aries New Moon, on 5 April, life`s about reviewing, if not eliminating, burdensome arrangements and rethinking your goals. After that, you`ll know exactly what`s next.

Dealing with an erratic person is having a strange effect on your energy. Sudden bursts of enthusiasm are followed by just as sudden lulls. Your emotions are up and down, and you can`t seem to make much progress when both mentally and physically, you don`t feel up to much. Problems in the relationship department are starting to get you down. Whenever you`re with an older friend or relative, you can`t do right for doing wrong. Accept it: you can`t please all the people all the time.

Mercury is still retrograde but that doesn`t mean that progress can`t be made. Venus changes signs midweek. Where others might have seemed intransigent and actually almost incapable of listening to your ideas, be prepared for developments. Indeed, it`s entirely possible that a most interesting and financially viable connection will be made. True, over 28th and 29th there may be much discussion about scheduling. It may be a few days after that before you sense that others really are moving forward with plans. Fact is that somewhere along the way there has been too much idealism. It`s not that none of those visions can be achieved, but that perhaps you would be pushing against the tide by going too quickly. As Mercury arrives at its station on Friday though, the Moon occults Saturn. It may be that once the brakes come off, that real progress can be made throughout April.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——- —— —– —- — — –

Personal theme: I have!!
Earth & fixed sign: April 20 — May 20

Your horoscope for this week:

After recent endless twists and turns, you`re reflecting on exciting ideas, offers or changes but, also, need time to think. The coming week is about that, often discussing matters with those who`re able to advise or update you on existing arrangements or future possibilities. Explore everything. While, once, you wouldn`t even have considered certain options, now you`ll learn from them; and finalising plans? Not just yet.

Taking on jobs a workmate seems unable to handle could be a short cut to promotion. Even if your own knowledge of the work is limited, you will learn as you go along. In addition to this, you are starting to realise how resourceful you can be. This is one of those times when you won`t have a moment to call your own. Not that this will bother you. You anticipated this would be a busy time, so you are well prepared. In fact, you`re quite enjoying it.

Yes, Mercury is still retrograde in Pisces and yes, for the first half of this week, Venus continues its journey across the very apex of your solar chart. It may well appear that others are paying only lip service to your ideas and plans. All that will likely change once Venus joins Mercury in Pisces midweek. It`s then that a conciliatory tones will most likely be heard. Note too, that the first aspect Venus makes is a beautiful sextile to Uranus (now travelling through your sign). A curious alliance could form: curious not to you but to others who would never have imagined you going out of your way to seek this connection. That said, it would be wise not to sign contracts over either Thursday or Friday as Mercury appears to station. It might be as well to take a few days over the weekend and into early April to effect a due diligence check.

Personal theme: I think!!
Air sign: May 21 — June 20

Your horoscope for this week:

Usually, when your ruler Mercury is retrograde, as it will be until Thursday 28 March, plans come undone, occasionally several times. While that`s happened, the necessary rethink has been informative, and even more, forced you to explore unfamiliar territory. What and who you`ve encountered since has been preparing you for the dynamic cycle that begins on 31 March, when the determined Mars moves into Gemini.

Give yourself a break. You can`t say yes to all demands that are being made on you and people can`t expect you to keep dropping everything the moment they summon you. It is true that you don`t want to let anyone down but there`s a limit to what you can do. Visiting new places will inspire you. Sometimes it seems as if other people get the best opportunities and the good news is that a chance will come your way to realise a cherished goal.

Your ruling planet, Mercury, is still retrograde. It arrives at its direct station next Friday (29th). Like a butterfly that finally lands on a flower that enchants, it`s then that your camouflage may be working particularly well and when others may be blissfully unaware of all that you`ve been doing in recent weeks. True, they will soon to know exactly which path you`ve chosen. What they may not realise is that not only have you made that decision, but that you also have the equivalent of your travel documents ready! In short, it seems you`re about to astound and amaze – but might be equally astounded by the numbers of people ready to support you.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——- —— —– —- — — –

Personal theme: I feel!!
Water & cardinal sign: June 21 — July 22

Your horoscope for this week:

Since last year you`ve been exploring ways to rethink if not substantially alter your work, lifestyle or both.. While you`ve made a few alterations, the recent Full Moon kick-started a cycle of more far-reaching changes. However, because this extends well into the coming years, it`s important you regard the options you`re weighing up as a first step. Whatever you`re thinking, there`s far more to come.

If you want to start the week the way you intend to go on, take a more proactive approach to problems. By volunteering to do more cooking, errands and household chores, this might allow other members of the family to deal with issues that are bothering them. Take this opportunity to organise new routines. Keep active and avoid the gossipmongers. Work carried out alone will be more satisfying than working alongside people who don`t share your dedication or determination.

Next Thursday`s Last Quarter Moon is in your opposite sign. It might be as well to think back over the last two years and general working arrangements through that time. What could now be improved? As Mercury arrives at its direct station (Friday) and in another of the Water signs you could usefully focus on ideas first agreed in principle in August of last year. Improvements to these could yet be made. What may now be apparent is that a timeline was never realistic but that what now needs to be put in place is a clear programme of activities that can be assessed and judged before your birthday.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——- —— —– —- — — –

Personal theme: I will!!
Fire & fixed sign: July 23 — August 22

Your horoscope for this week:

As a Leo, you savour your luxuries but, when it comes to pivotal decisions, you`re in charge. However, with disruptive Uranus now accenting your activities, work and lifestyle, changes are inevitable. While their nature and timing are out of your hands, they`re about breakthroughs, some long overdue. Go with the flow. Once you`ve made those changes, you`ll wonder why you battled them for so long.

Instead of trying to please your friends and colleagues, put your own wishes and wants first. Sometimes you tell yourself that you don`t deserve to be pampered and you would rather give to other people than yourself. It`s important to treat yourself too, for you are worthy. Spending time with friends will restore your confidence. An older relative`s advice makes good sense and will help you see something that has been troubling you from a different perspective.

It would be as well to anticipate a week of high drama. It might even seem as though it is `dual at dawn` time. The difficulty is that Mercury arrives at its direct station at the end of this working week; coinciding with the Last Quarter Moon. It`s possible that the end of March marks a major timeline; but is it really? It may be that what`s taken place since August of last year has led to multiple confusion. It could take until after Mercury has moved on its neighbouring Aries mid-April before constructive plans can be put in place. For now, others may be absolutely exhausted and lack clarity as to what should happen next. Your role may not be to enjoy the high drama , but rather to assure others that all is not yet lost.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——- —— —– —- — — –

Personal theme: I analyse!!
Earth sign: August 23 — September 22

Your horoscope for this week:

As a painstaking Virgo, your aim is always to get things right, ideally, the first time around, so there`s no need for later changes; but between powerful planetary activity and your ruler Mercury retrograde from early March until the 28th, triggering errors and unexpected events, you`ve had to rethink things, and often. Looking back, however, judging by what you`ve learnt and who you`ve met, you`ve benefited enormously.

Other people are expecting your help to get on top of their responsibilities. Although you don`t mind lending a helping hand, it`s frustrating that your boss and colleagues can`t understand how your work is being neglected due to all you are doing for others. The next time they ask you for a favour find the courage to say no. If you`re trying to sell property, a car or holiday home, be willing to negotiate with a potential buyer. You might not get your asking price, but you will make a profit.

Your ruling planet, Mercury, arrives at its direct station at the end of this working week. Recall that it`s been moving through your opposite sign. It may be that you`ve felt messed around by others; unclear as to exactly what it is that they want. This direct station coincides with the Last Quarter Moon highlighting the creative part of your solar chart. You could yet come up with solutions. Venus moves into your opposite sign from Wednesday and makes fabulous aspect to Uranus slightly ahead of that Mercury station. It might be wise not to question others too much midweek, but rather to leave them to come to you – but yes, probably with what to you is an obvious conclusion. Letting someone think that a plan is their idea might not be a bad move at all. What`s clear for all signs is that after months of exhausting activity, that it will take a couple of weeks more to recover.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——- —— —– —- — — –

Personal theme: I balance!!
Air & cardinal sign: September 23 — October 22

Your horoscope for this week:

While the recent Libra Full Moon brought both pivotal issues and your feelings about them to a head, if anything, things seem more confused. Actually, you`re in a period of intense, often unsettling, questions regarding your priorities. Equally, you`re reviewing future plans. Urgent as decisions seem, neither circumstances nor your thinking are likely to come together until the rare, second, Libra Full Moon on 19 April.

Joint matters come up for review. Someone has missed something important. This could mean you are seeing a new side to their personality. If they have deceived, defrauded or betrayed you, it is time to make them realise you are onto them. You`re in for a more positive and progressive few days at the end of the week with you feeling more energetic and keener to get on with jobs that have been languishing on the shelf for long enough.

Mercury is still retrograde. It doesn`t station until the Last Quarter Moon at the end of this working week. This is a perfect time for information gathering and incubating fresh ideas. It would also be a good time to recharge your batteries. All that said, it might be as well to anticipate something of a power struggle on Monday. It may be that there is a challenge to something you`ve written. True, this can be negotiated that will only happen if you don`t procrastinate. The emergence of a new alliance midweek would of course be exciting – especially to those of your sign who are relationship-inclined. Take note though that however exciting this appears to be, that like everything else it will take time to grow and develop this alliance. The last few days of March could find you challenged. It might even be that you need to plan a graceful exit for closer to the Full Moon on April 19th.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——- —— —– —- — — –

Scorpio & Ophiuchus
Personal theme: I desire!!
Water & fixed signs: October 23 — November 21

Your horoscope for this week:

Intriguing as recent ideas or offers were, as a cautious Scorpio, you`ve been wary. You may even have said no. If so, during April, these will resurface, and in pressing situations. What`s more, with the current powerful planetary activity having altered the foundation on which plans are based, you`ve no choice but to make a few changes. Begin exploring your options now and you`ll actually enjoy the process.

You`re determined to reach a goal before the end of the month. It`s a shame others don`t feel the same way. Someone is trying to hold you back and you can`t figure out their reasons. No matter who it is or why, they are about to learn their delaying tactics won`t work on you. Finances are low. You long to pamper your amour but there are debts to be paid. Put your imagination to work and you will come up with ways of spoiling your loved ones without breaking the bank.

A confluence of cosmic activity at the Last Quarter Moon on March 28th should mark the `beginning of the ending` of a long period of discussion. It might take until the Full Moon on April 19 before you feel free of an issue that has dogged you for months. Even so, it should be clear by Mercury`s station on Friday 29th, that new ways forward are being sought and that a new team is moving into place. The start of this working week could find you in active research or busily archiving. This would indeed be a productive use of your time. In the process you could find nuggets of information that have real value. Then, as Venus joins Mercury in Pisces midweek, what to others appears a curious alliance could form. It may be that someone with whom you had major dispute some months back, returns with the request that you move forward together. Though hesitant at first, it`s possible that they have a point and that together you could move a proverbial mountain.

Personal theme: I see!!
Fire sign: November 22 — December 21

Your horoscope for this week:

Reminiscing about the past can be bittersweet. One thing to keep in mind is that you`re probably not remembering things exactly as they occurred. From your current vantage point, you`ll view things as much better or far worse than they actually were. Hence, you shouldn`t draw any conclusions about the present based upon what you think happened in the past. You might get defensive when someone questions your version of events, especially if they happen to be right. Know when to let it go.

Your curiosity will take you to new places and this gives you the chance too, to meet new faces. Being able to go where you want and when will feel incredibly liberating. You have more time to take a look around and get your bearings. It`s a time of exciting adventure. Communications are friendly. Lately you have been far too serious and too wrapped up with personal problems. That`s why friends now appreciate seeing the return of the more easy-going side of your nature.

Not every week can be life changing of course, but decisions taken over the next few days could push you in altered direction. Recall that Mercury has been retrograde at the very base of your solar chart. It doesn`t arrive at its direct station until the end of this week- which happens to coincide with the Last Quarter Moon. A strong possibility is that there will be a financial incentive to making changes: including the way in which you approach asset management. Though not every Sagittarius will likely be involved in legal matters, it is possible that you will need the advice of an expert or to see paper proof of payments. Receipts, guarantees and contracts could have your full attention. As is likely to be the case for all signs, putting in place a tentative schedule that takes you through to the Full Moon on April 19th would be wise.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——- —— —– —- — — –

Personal theme: I use!!
Earth & cardinal sign: December 22 — January 19

Your horoscope for this week:

It`s been a tricky period. While the current disarray can be partially blamed on Mercury`s retrograde cycle, which ends on the 28th, recent rare and powerful planetary activity is triggering ongoing, and timely, tremors in many areas of your life, the situation of others and the world around you. Worrying as these seem now, they`re breaking ground for a new, and exciting cycle, one that influences everybody.

The time has come to make some changes in your relationships. Choices you are making should bring you more happiness in the future. Circumstances have changed since you and your partner or best friend met. Be open and honest if there is something you need clarified. A heart to heart conversation will sweep all your worries away. You have some great ideas on how to improve your home. Your family will also have some good suggestions. Expect to be spending more time helping to get new domestic projects underway.

Both Saturn and Pluto are moving through your sign. They don`t arrive at their absolute conjunction for some months yet. Yet it`s been apparent since 2016 that the two are in parallel motion and working together. No doubt this has already brought a degree of extra responsibility and challenge your way. There is likely more to come. A display of power – and perhaps even arguments about authority and planning – is probable at the beginning of this week. View this as someone testing their muscles. Fact is that until the Last Quarter Moon in your sign on Thursday, which is followed closely by Mercury`s direct station, all might not yet be clear. It may be that someone is simply testing boundaries. Making clear what it is that you want and the revised schedule you are content to work with will no doubt be imperative – though it may be that not much can be agreed until the Full Moon on April 19.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——- —— —– —- — — –

Personal theme: I know!!
Air & fixed sign: January 20 — February 18

Your horoscope for this week:

For ages you`ve known elements of your life needs a rethink if not serious changes, but the time`s never been right. However, between your ruler Uranus making a rare move into a new position and the recent focus on broadening your horizons, these changes aren`t just a topic for discussion, they`ve become reality. Instead of putting them off, investigate. What you learn could revolutionise your thinking.

Aquarius is a sociable sign. You don`t want to decline any of the invitations coming your way, but you can`t accept them all. Decide on which should get priority. Choose gatherings and get-togethers that are likely to give you most pleasure. Responsibilities are important but you owe it to yourself to be happy. A partner is behaving selfishly. Although it might look as if they don`t care, they`ve got a lot on their plate and are temporarily blind to the needs of others, including you.

Venus leaves your sign this week. As it moves into neighbouring Pisces, drawing attention to the state of your finances, it may be that you come to a realisation about your attitude to savings and long-term financial arrangements. This in turn might prompt you to arrange a meaningful conversation before the end of the month. Yet Mercury is still retrograde. This little `planet of commerce` arrives at its direct station on Friday. The next few days are arguably excellent for going back over receipts and balancing the books – though a complete picture might not emerge for a couple of weeks yet. The process would not be a waste of time and indeed, with the assistance of someone familiar with new technology, could perhaps be streamlined for future checks. Indeed, one of the most successful pursuits you could apply this week is to learn new ways of setting out your position.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——- —— —– —- — — –

Personal theme: I believe!!
Water sign: February 19 — March 20

Your horoscope for this week:

As an intuitive Pisces, you`re better equipped than most to deal with Mercury retrograde and its accompanying confusion. While this cycle ends on the 28th, Mercury remains in Pisces until 17 April, which suggests you`ll be reviewing the issues events aroused and, equally, be considering future options, some so new they could be regarded as breakthroughs. For now, focus on exploration. Decisions can wait.

Jobs you are given to work on demand a lot of detail. Your concentration seems to have flown out of the window. The harder you try, the worse it gets, so why try at all? Admit that you aren`t up to it and leave what can be left for another day until later in the week.. What you will enjoy is anything that makes use of your creative potential.. A partner might have some weird and wacky ideas and if you like what they suggest, give in to this impulse to have more fun.

It`s Venus` turn to join Mercury in your sign this week. Arguably you should be at your charming best. However, Mercury doesn`t station until Friday and as it does so, it picks up an important link with Neptune (one of your ruling planets). The net result may be that you confuse others. True, at some level they may be enchanted by your ever-changing position. It could nevertheless be exasperating to those who are trying to arrive at definite conclusion. True, all signs should be prepared for the fact that definition is most unlikely before the Full Moon on April 19th. This though is arguably the optimum time for playing with ideas. What could have your full attention however is a power struggle on Monday which you realise – if not satisfactorily resolved, – will cause acute financial damage. It`s this awareness that could result in a key decision being deferred.
