Celtic Tree Calendar: Luis (Rowan) – January 21 to February 17

The Rowan has long enjoyed its reputation to protect against enchantment. It name is linked with the Norse ‘runa’, a charm, and the Sanskrit ‘runa’, meaning a magician. Rune staves, sticks upon which runes were inscribed, were cut from the Rowan tree. Rowan played a central role in Druid ceremonies. Even in more recent times, these beliefs have been upheld in practices from different parts of Britain. In the North, for example, sparys of Rowan were fixed to cattle sheds to protect the animals from harm

Llewellyn’s Spell a Day

Brigid Invocation
Spell Date: Sunday, January 21, 2018

The pre-Christian Irish goddess Brigid ( pronounced “breed”) is guardian of the home and known for her intellect, wisdom, and craft skills. She is also a protectress of sacred flame—literally and metaphorically. The long, cold nights of January find many of us seeking ways to keep warm. An appeal to Brigid can protect us through those chilly nights.

Sit in a dark room and light a single candle. Sit quietly, experiencing the darkness. Focus on the flame, scrying for any meanings that come. Repeat:

“Dearest Brigid, keeper of hearth and home,
protectress of all, font of love and wisdom,
Be with me through this long night.
Bless me as I sleep through winter’s cold embrace.
Nurture my inner fire, sustaining life and filling me with warmth.
Give me the hope that spring will return, and with it
A promise of light and warmth.
To this I appeal. So mote it be.”

Gabija Bread Blessing
Spell Date: Saturday, January 20, 2018

For most of us, winter’s grip holds tight to the surrounding countryside. We keep to indoor pursuits, which, for our family, includes making bread. Nothing tastes better on a cold winter day than warm, homemade bread with butter and a bowl of soup. During these dark days of winter, comfort food most definitely helps keep spirits high.

Before slicing into your beautiful loaf, ask Gabija for a blessing. Gabija is a Lithuanian hearth goddess, protector of the fire and of the grain. With the advent of Christianity, Gabija was identified as Saint Agnes, who safeguarded homes from fire and was the patron saint of virgins. Lay your hands over the bread and say:

“Gabija of the hearth and of the grain, bless this bread
To keep us strong through the long winter days ahead.
Bless our hearts with your loving flame.
Help our minds keep bright until spring’s reign.”

Tea of Plenty
Spell Date: Friday, January 19, 2018

This simple ritual to promote abundance and general prosperity utilizes regular tea, whole wheat toast, and a bit of butter. Tea (whether black, green, oolong, or white) contains the energy of prosperity. Wheat carries the energy of abundance, and butter is attuned to transformation. Sitting down with a freshly brewed cup of tea and some buttered toast can be an opportunity to partake of the magic of abundance.

As the water heats up, hold the tea bag (or tea strainer) and cultivate a sense of abundance. While the tea steeps, make the toast, and as you butter it, again focus on abundance. Before the first sip, say:

“Abundance and growth now come forth.
I take into myself the power of plenty.”

Finish the tea and toast and try to hold the feeling of abundance as strongly as possible.

The Quiet Midwinter
Spell Date: Thursday, January 18, 2018

January is when “true” winter begins and the weather in the northern regions begins to turn much colder. After a busy holiday season, we want to slow down and hibernate. We can use the quiet, dormant energy of winter to do magical work, tapping into our inner depths to kindle the heat and light of creativity. This can help prevent depression and restlessness from setting in. Getting some exercise and spending time outside is a huge help to prevent seasonal depression, but spellwork can help focus our energy.

Do this working at noon, when the sun is at its zenith. Even if it’s not sunny out, look up in the sky and try to sense the sun’s position directly above you. Close your eyes and imagine the heat and light of the sun on your face. Let the sun’s warmth and power flow over you; visualize yourself outdoors in summer doing this, imagining the sun’s intensity. Wrap your arms around yourself to “hold in” the sun’s energy, and draw upon this energy when you feel the gloomy dark of winter pressing down.

What’s Past is (and Should Be) Done
Spell Date: Wednesday, January 17, 2018

Look back at last year again. What should be buried and forgotten? Your intention is to bury the old stuff.

Set Athena and an earth goddess on your altar. Add a small, new plant and a flowerpot filled with potting soil. Light a red candle for root chakra energy. Cast your circle. Have paper and a pen handy as you comb through your memories and find things that need to be buried so Mother Earth can recycle them. Write them down, then speak these words:

“What’s done is done.
I am burying __________ from last year.
What’s buried is safely gone.
Let it dissolve in the soil.
Let it be recycled.
Let it help this plant grow.
Let it change my life.”

Burn what you wrote in the flame of the candle, then drop the ashes into the flowerpot. Mix them in with the soil. Plant the new plant and open your circle.

A Chamomile New Moon Spell
Spell Date: Tuesday, January 16, 2018

Happy new moon! As you may know, the new moon is a time for vision and internal work. Additionally, when the moon is “new,” it is also conjunct the sun. For this reason, the moon and sun are in the same zodiac sign at every new moon (unlike at the full moon, when the moon is in the sun’s opposing sign). Today, Luna and Sol are both in the sign of Capricorn. This is an intelligent and resourceful sign whose energy grants us the ability to get to work!

To utilize this evening’s energy, brew some nice chamomile tea. Find a large crystal or a favorite mystical gemstone and plop it into the mug ( just be careful not to swallow the stone!). As the tea steeps, breathe in the vapors and envision the mug glowing with a dark violet hue. Chant the words Capricorn, vision, and insight into the steeping elixir. When you drink the tea, sit in your favorite chair and turn off all the lights. See which visions come to your attention!

World Peace Spell
Spell Date: Monday, January 15, 2018

Use this spell to honor the memory of Martin Luther King Jr. You’ll need a light-blue pillar candle and a peace-attracting herb such as lavender. Place the candle on your altar, then sprinkle some of the lavender around the candle and on the floor around you. Light the candle. Gaze at the flame and visualize planet Earth as it appears in photos taken from outer space. Ground and center, then say:

“We are one, we all live
beneath the same sun,

May peace come to everyone.

We are one, we all live beneath
the same moon and stars,

May peace come to every
country, near and far.”

After performing this spell, greet everyone with a smile. Offer assistance to anyone who may need help. Naturally, this spell won’t work overnight, but think how powerful it would be if thousands of us performed it on this day!

Paper Purge
Spell Date: Sunday, January 14, 2018

The waning Capricorn moon loves diligent purging activities. There is great power in a good paper purge, as it creates the space for a greater level of order and personal success.

So gather your junk mail, old journals and notebooks, and leftover lists. Light a white candle and a stick of sage or frankincense incense, and recycle, shred, and/or burn until all your unnecessary paper is banished from your home and life. As you do so, feel that you are breaking up old patterns, habits, and conditions and releasing the energy and power they formerly held in thrall. On a very deep level, sense that you are creating serenity within and around you and creating a vacuum into which fresh ideas, wealth streams, and beautiful life conditions will naturally flow. Finish by picking up the incense and (safely) wafting the smoke around your body and aura.

Heartwings Love Notes 811: Treats for the Winter Doldrums

Heartwings says, “Tasty desserts make testy folk smile.”

Long ago I discovered that the filling for a lemon meringue pie need not be confined to the pie plate. I’ll tell you a secret-shh, I dislike making piecrust. I will do most anything to avoid making one, however I do love lemon meringue. So instead of making a pie, I make a pudding. This pudding can also be used as a sauce, as well as a filling for a scooped out angel cake or meringue shells. It might also make a nice filing for some kind of trifle-maybe with raspberries or strawberries, though I have not tried that as yet myself.

1 ¼ cups sugar, divided
1 ½ cups water
3 eggs, separated
¼ cup cornstarch
2 large or 3 smaller lemons
2 pinches salt

Separate eggs while cold and set aside for a half hour or so. Meanwhile, grate the lemon rind. You need a fine grater for this, the wand one that works well for grating Parmesan cheese works great. Squeeze out the juice and combine with rind. Set aside. Measure and mix 1 cup sugar, pinch of salt and cornstarch in a medium saucepan. Stir well. Mix water and egg yolks and slowly add to dry mixture. Stir well and cook over medium heat stirring often to be sure it does not stick to the bottom of the pan.

Once mixture comes to a hard boil, boil it for one minute stirring vigorously. Take pan from stove, add lemon mixture and stir well. Set aside while you whip the egg whites. If you feel vigorous, use a wire whip, if not, use a mixer. Add the pinch of salt and beat until they are starting to fluff up. Then add the ¼ cup sugar a scant half teaspoon or a shake or two at a time so that it dissolves quickly. Once they mound nicely, spoon a little o the lemon mixture into them. Mix well and then fold the whole egg white mixture into the lemon mixture until thoroughly incorporated. Chill and serve as is or use for a filling or sauce.

This is one of our favorite desserts just as is. Hope your doldrums turn to delights with this addition to your menu.

Blessings and best regards, Tasha Halpert

P.S. Do let me know if you try this recipe and tell me how it works for you? I so appreciate feedback from my readers and hope always to be helpful. Tasha Halpert <>

Trees and People
By Madisyn Taylor

We can be more like trees opening our crown to the Universe and rooting down deep with our feet into mother earth.

A tree that is beginning to grow sends roots down into Mother Earth even as it reaches and opens to the sky above, seeking nourishment from the sun and the moisture in the air and in the rain that falls. In the same way, we can envision ourselves as treelike beings, imagining that we have roots reaching down into the earth, energetic strands that keep us connected. At the same time, the crowns of our heads lift and open to receive nourishment from above. Just like a tree, we seek the sunshine and water we need to survive and thrive. Both trees and people serve as conduits for the intermingling of the opposite and complementary elements of air, water, sun, and earth.

We also share creative ways of growing, regardless of the challenges we come up against in our environments. Trees will even grow through rock, shattering it, in their effort to reach the air and light they need to survive. We are similarly resilient, with a built-in propensity for growth and the conditions that promote it. We find creative ways around the obstacles we confront as we move along our paths, moving toward the light that feeds us, just as trees grow around other trees and rocks as they make their way upward.

Contemplating the ways in which trees and people mirror one another brings us into alignment with the reality that we are part of Mother Nature. Our children, and the trees and their children, will live together on the earth as long as we all survive, sharing the elements and serving together to forward nature’s plan. Walking in a forest can be a meditation, the interweaving lives of all living creatures and the planet on which we all take root and reach for the sky.

The Magic Wand #3

Todd decided that since the magic wand was quite obviously an antique, a regular museum might not do. So after calling and mentioning his errand to the director, Todd and his son David went to the Museum of Antiquities in hopes of learning something about it.
Eagerly, David ran up to the woman at the reception desk. “We’re here to find out about my magic wand,” he said. Proudly he showed her his Christmas present from Uncle Jack.
Holding it in both hands, she squinted at it. “What’s that funny writing? It looks like Chinese,” she handed it back. “That’s a magic wand? It looks like something from a souvenir shop in Chinatown.”
“Oh no, ” David said earnestly. “It’s really magical. At home it made mice, a turkey and a crow that’s still in our living room.”
“And if you shake it no doubt you’ll see fairy dust.” She smiled, then she looked knowingly at Todd and winked as if to say, “of course we both know this is some sort of childish prank.”
Todd shook his head and tried to argue but to no avail. Finally he said, “Perhaps we could speak to someone with a greater familiarity with magical talismans?”
She smiled again and then decided to go along with the joke. “In that case sir, you’ll want to see the Director, but he’s inordinately busy. Perhaps if you called next week for an appointment.”
“Does he have a magic wand too,’ David asked. She frowned as if something about his asking that annoyed her.
“If you’d please call his office,” Todd said. “My son is on school vacation and I’ve taken time from my work. Making another appointment would be difficult.”
She sighed with exasperation. Convinced that they were trying to pull her leg and not wanting to be the brunt of a prank she picked up the phone and pressed some buttons. “Martha, a man and his son want to see the Director about a so-called magic wand.”
David stamped his foot. “It’s really, really a magic wand,” He insisted. “Want to see?” And before Todd could stop him, he waved it. A large lizard appeared, crawled across her desk and started nibbling at her plant.
She gasped, jumped up, and pushed a button for security. The lizard continued to nibble.
“I think he’s hungry,” David said.
A stout elderly man in a blue uniform hurried over. When he saw the lizard he stopped short, shook his head and frowned. “Where’d that come from?”
“My magic wand,” David said.
Clasping his hands together, Todd looked at David and shook his head. “I’m terribly sorry for my son’s action,” he stammered.
“You brought that reptile into the museum?” The guard focused on David and looked stern. “Young man, magic wand or no magic wand, pets are not allowed. You’ll have to remove it. Or face repercussions.”
Todd raised his voice. “”That’s why we’re here. About my son’s magic wand.”
The young woman pushed away from her desk and looked askance at Todd and David. “This is not funny.”
“I agree,” Todd said. “Neither is the crow perched in our living room, or the turkey in our back yard, not to mention the mice. We came here seeking help.”
The lizard jumped from her desk and scuttled away.
The security guard sounded stern. “Catch that reptile and take it out of this museum or the police will be notified.”
“It really is a magic wand,” David said. “My uncle Jack gave it to me for Christmas.”
Several staffers appeared. “There’s a large lizard prowling in the hallway moving toward the cafeteria,” one said.
“It’s probably hungry,” David repeated
An authoritarian woman in a blue suit, wearing shoes made of some kind of reptile skin clomped up to the desk. She looked daggers at Todd. “Is that lizard your property?”
“This is Martha Brown,” The receptionist began.
“No,” Todd said with a sigh. “My son waved his magic wand and…”
Before he could finish the woman interrupted: “There’s no such things as magic wands!” She glared at Todd.
“Yes there is,” David piped up. “See.” He raised his wand in the air.
“David don’t!” Todd said.
But he was too late. David waved it. A large tortoise appeared and began sniffing the woman’s shoes.
Todd clutched at his head and grimaced.
“Stop, stop! Call Dr. Mortimer,” she cried. The tortoise began sniffing her ankle.
“He’s at a Board meeting,” the receptionist said.
“Get him anyway,” the woman demanded, backing away from the sniffing tortoise.
David grinned. “I think he likes your shoes,” he said.
“Please Mary Lou,’ the receptionist implored, “send Dr Mortimer to the reception desk. We need someone to be in charge here.”
Martha glared at the security guard. “Get that thing away from me.”
He sputtered. “It probably weighs several hundred pounds. He nudged it with his shoe but the tortoise didn’t budge.
A wispy man wearing a rumpled gray suit and a colorful tie appeared and surveyed the situation. He shook his head and frowned. “Janet,” he told the receptionist, “These sorts of tortoises are endangered. Call the zoo to come and pick it up.”
She picked up the phone on her desk and began pressing buttons.
Dr. Mortimer peered at Todd. “Thank you good citizen for bringing this poor reptile to our attention. But next time it would be best to call the zoo directly.”
“Make it stop,” Dr. Mortimer,” said the Martha. “I’ll kick it.” Her voice cracked.
“Now Martha,” Dr Mortimer said calmly. “You can’t kick an almost extinct creature. It just isn’t done.”
Two security officers rushed up to the reception desk. ” What’s going on here?”
“A lizard,” said the receptionist.
“A tortoise,” Dr. Mortimer said.
“Get it out of here,” Martha wailed.
“Be especially careful,” Dr Mortimer cautioned. “You all must understand that it’s severely endangered.” His usually calm voice rose and grew louder. “If anything happens we’ll have the entire Zoo board down on us, maybe the whole National Geographic Society! We could lose all our grant funding. Better to wait until they get here.”
“Does it bite?” one guard asked
“We’ve caught the lizard,” said a museum guard coming in with a large box with holes punched in it. “What shall we do with it, sir?”
Dr. Mortimer took a deep breath and mopped his balding forehead with a crumpled handkerchief. He nodded. “Well done, well done. Keep it until the zoo people get here.” Meanwhile the large tortoise had finished sniffing Martha’s shoes and moved on to Dr. Mortimer’s. He looked down at it and then up at Todd. “I want to thank you again, for your kindness in bringing this creature to our attention.” He looked down at the sniffing tortoise, grimaced and then straightened back up. “Now what is it I can do to be helpful to you?”
“I called this morning, Dr. Mortimer about…”
“Oh yes,” Dr. Mortimer nodded. “Yes, yes I remember. You called about a magic wand.” He shook his head. “I’m sorry,” he told Todd in his best man-to-man voice. He clapped him on the shoulder. “Magic wands are purely fictional,” he smiled. “Nothing whatsoever to do with reality.”
“But mine is real,” said David. “I can prove it.” And to Todd’s horror he raised it again.

Healing Remedies with Sea Salt

Salt is one of the easiest most effective remedies on the planet! Sea salt, a salt obtained by evaporating seawater, is used in cooking and cosmetics. Its mineral content gives it a different taste from table salt, which is usually sodium chloride refined from mined rock salt (halite), or refined from sea salt. Table salt may contain anti- caking agents and additives such as the dietary supplement iodides. Areas that produce specialized sea salt include the Cayman Islands, France, Ireland, Sicily and Apulia in Italy, and Maine and Cape Cod in the United States.

Salt is essential for life and you cannot live without it. There are enormous differences between the standard, refined table and cooking salt and healthy natural salt. The differences can have a major impact on your health.

Halite crystal (sodium chloride) occurs in seawater, along with other salts of sodium, calcium, magnesium, and other light metals. When seawater evaporates in a closed lagoon, halite and other minerals precipitate out and sink to the bottom as crystals. In this way, great beds of rock salt have been formed. Pure halite is colorless, though it is often colored by impurities. It is soft and breaks (cleaves) into cubes. Halite crystallizes in the isometric (also called cubic) crystal system and when it forms crystals, it generally forms cubes. Its most noticeable and important physical feature is that halite is readily soluble in water. This allows halite to be useful in such varied applications as cooking, food preservation, and chemical production.

Salt can be mined from rock salt either by traditional mining practices using heavy equipment underground, or by pumping hot water in pipes into the salt deposit, where the hot water dissolves the halite. The resulting salt water is then pumped to surface and evaporated to yield salt. This is called “solution mining”. In some modern dry salt lakes, a crust of halite can be recovered by simply scraping the salt crust off the lake bottom with bulldozers or scrapers. Ancient rock salt is mined in Michigan, New York, Kansas, and other states. Solution mining is used to recover salt from underground “salt domes” in Louisiana and Texas. Recovery of salt from dry lakes takes place in the deserts of California, Nevada, and Utah.

Table Salt

Table salt is actually 97.5% sodium chloride and 2.5% chemicals such as moisture absorbents, and iodine. Dried at over 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit, the excessive heat alters the natural chemical structure of the salt causing the potential for many health problems in your body. Table salt is not recommended in your healing arsenal.

Dead Sea Salt

The mineral content of the Dead Sea is significantly different from that of ocean water, consisting of approximately 53% magnesium chloride, 37% potassium chloride and 8% sodium chloride (common salt) with the remainder comprised of various trace elements. The concentration of sulfate, SO42-, ions is very low, and the bromide ion concentration is the highest of all waters on Earth. Chlorides neutralize most of the calcium ions in the Dead Sea and its surroundings. While in other seas sodium chloride is 97% of the salts, in the Dead Sea the quantity of NaCl is only 12-18%. Comparison between the chemical composition of the Dead Sea to other lakes and oceans show that the salt concentration in the Dead Sea is 31.5% (the salinity fluctuates somewhat). Because of its unusually high concentration of salt, anyone can easily float in the Dead Sea because of natural buoy ancy as a result of the higher density of the water.

Celtic Sea Salt

This salt is unparalleled in the world. Less than 1% of the world’s salt harvest has the quality of Celtic Sea Salt. Pure, moist, biologically active, and free from any chemicals or additives, this is considered “living sea salt”. Celts discovered a way to harvest salt from the ocean using the sun, the wind, and shallow clay ponds. Pristine ocean channels spiral water into the concentrating ponds. The live flowing mixture is carefully stirred by the salt farmer, and dazzling crystals form and are gathered by hand. The ionizing action of the clay, combined with the artisan’s skillful method, passed down through generations, enlivens the unique, bioavailable array of trace elements that exist in a perfectly balanced matrix.

Epsom Salts

This salt is a rich source of magnesium. Magnesium helps to regulate the activity of more than 325 enzymes and performs a vital role in orchestrating many bodily functions, from muscle control and electrical impulses to energy production and the elimination of harmful toxins. Epsom Salt also delivers sulfates, which are extremely difficult to get through food but which readily absorb through the skin. Sulfates serve a wide variety of functions in the body, playing a vital role in the formation of brain tissue, joint proteins and the mucin proteins that line the walls of the digestive tract. Sulfates also stimulate the pancreas to generate digestive enzymes and are believed to help detoxify the body’s residue of medicines and environmental contaminants. Soak in a tub full of hot water with a few cups of Epsom Salts. This is good for relaxing muscles and drawing to xins from the body. When magnesium sulfate is absorbed through the skin, such as in a bath, it draws toxins from the body, sedates the nervous system, reduces swelling, relaxes muscles, is a natural emollient, exfoliator, and much more. Soak for 15-20 minutes.

Himalayan Crystal Salt

Himalayan Crystal Salt is salt in its native form, with all its vibrational energy intact and it helps your body return to a state of balance. Not having balanced electrolytes shifts your body out of homeostasis – the balance of chemicals that is conducive to the body’s function. The renowned Frezenius Institute in Europe analyzed the Himalayan Crystal Salt and proved that it has an amazing array of important trace minerals and elements including potassium, calcium and magnesium that help your body achieve balance by restoring fluids and replenishing your supply of electrolytes whenever you sweat heavily.

Salt Water

The healing abilities of salt water are profound and well documented. Salt water is an astringent and speeds wound healing. Floating in sea water is an extreme release of tension and stress of the day. Allow yourself to float weightlessly in the water. You deserve it.

Sea Air

Deep breathing of ocean air helps us to relax and let go. The faint smell of salt in the air can take us to a place of pure joy. Sea air has a certain aliveness found no where else. This deep breathing can help release tension and the problems associated with it.

Thalassotherapy (from the Greek word thalassos, meaning “sea”) is the medical use of seawater. The properties of seawater are believed to have beneficial effects upon the pores of the skin. Thalassotherapy was developed in seaside towns in France during the 19th century. Trace elements of magnesium, potassium, calcium sulphates and sodium, found in seawater, are believed to be absorbed through the skin. The therapy is applied in various forms, as either showers of warmed seawater, application of marine mud or of algae paste, or the inhalation of sea fog. Spas make hot seawater and provide mud- and seaweed wrapping services available.

Healing Salt Remedies

Chronic sinusitis refers to inflammation of the sinuses that continues for weeks, months, or even years. Allergies are the most common cause of chronic sinusitis. Chronic sinusitis can persist even after antibiotics are given. It’s the most frequently reported chronic disease.

Acute sinusitis occurs when bacteria invade the sinus cavities and impair proper drainage of mucus from the sinuses to the nose. Chronic inflammation of the nasal passages or rhinitis also can lead to sinusitis. Allergic rhinitis or hay fever is the most common cause of chronic sinusitis and is a frequent cause of acute sinusitis.

The common cold is the most prevalent predisposing factor to sinusitis. Acute sinusitis typically causes symptoms of nasal congestion and a thick yellow or green discharge. Other symptoms include tenderness and pain over the sinuses, frontal headaches, and sometimes chills, fever, and pressure in the area of the sinuses.

Entering bacteria gets trapped and filtered out by mucus and minute nasal hairs called cilia. This air-flow system can sometimes slow down when something impedes the cilia, if a cold clogs the sinus openings, or if an allergen swells the sinus linings. Then air gets trapped, pressure builds, the mucus stagnates, and bacteria breed. Infection sets in and you have sinusitis. When you get clogged up, you may end up with a permanent thickening of the sinus membranes and chronic congestion.

Sinus Wash

Flush out nasal secretions. Mix 1 teaspoon of non-iodized salt or sea salt with 2 cups of warm water and a pinch of baking soda. Pour it into a shot glass, tilt your head back, close one nostril with your thumb, and sniff the solution with the open nostril. Then blow your nose gently. Repeat on the other side.

An Ayurvedic solution, similar to this is done in the same manner with a Neti Pot. It looks similar to a tea pot, but with a longer, narrower spout for the nostrils. These can be found in most health food stores.

A cup or handful of water in your hand or neti pot is a wonderful cleansing therapy. Slowly inhale the salt water into your nose to cleanse your sinus and open up the air passages.. Over the counter nasal washes (not nasal sprays) are available. The simplest form is a non iodized salt water spray.

Mouth Care

The tissues in the mouth can benefit greatly from sea salt.

For bleeding gums – make a paste of 1 tsp.. baking soda to 1/2 tsp. sea salt…brush with this mixture 3 times per day instead of the toothpaste. You can also add a few drops of tea tree oil.

Gargle with warm salt water a few times a day to relieve a sore throat, mouth sores or canker sores.

Negative Energy and Sea Salt

Cleansing with sea salt is a safe and effective way to clear any space of negative energy. Sea salt is obtained by evaporating seawater. Salt occurs naturally in many parts of the world as the mineral halite and as mixed evaporates in salt lakes. Underground salt deposits are found in both bedded sedimentary layers and domal deposits.

Energy in itself, is the vital source, which radiates from everything and everyone around us. When we are ill, emotionally upset, angered or imbalanced, our moods and of course, our energy is altered. Coming in contact with energy that is negative can often be sensed, even felt. The result is often a feeling of uneasiness, confusion or an opposed feeling to our current state of mind.

Cleansing with sea salt or rock salt is preferred over iodized, processed table salt..

Cleansing a room with salt can be done by placing salt in small bowls and placing them in the 4 corners for 24 hours. Take two teaspoons of sea salt and dissolve it into some warm water. Pour it into a mister or spray bottle and spray it where ever you need cleansing.

Cleansing yourself of negative vibs can be done by misting yourself for an overall clearing. Draw a bath. As the hot water is filling the tube, add two or more tablespoons of sea salt to the running water and stir it so it dissolves in the tube. Relax in your bath for 15-20 minutes.

Cleansing your crystals can be done by placing a teaspoon of sea salt into a bowl of luke warm water. Make sure the salt is dissolved, then place your crystals in the water for twenty four hours.

Adding herbs or essential oils to sea salt can give an added bonus to cleansing. Herbs such as lavender, sandalwood, tea tree, thyme, rosemary are all good compliments. When using herbs, place them in the salt and shake the salt in a closed container. This bruises the herbs and allows its essential oils to incorporate into the salt matrix. When using essential oils, add a few drops to salt and then stir or shake the salt in order to mix them well.

Showing Up For Life
By Madisyn Taylor

If you show up for yourself in your life, the universe will show up for you.

The way we walk into a room says a lot about the way we live our lives. When we walk into a room curious about what’s happening, willing to engage, and perceiving ourselves as an active participant with something to offer, then we have really shown up to the party. When we walk into a room with our eyes down, or nervously smiling, we are holding ourselves back for one reason or another. We may be hurting inside and in need of healing, or we may lack the confidence required to really be present in the room. Still, just noticing that we’re not really showing up, and having a vision of what it will look and feel like when we do, can give us the inspiration we need to recover ourselves.

Even if we are suffering, we can show up to that experience ready to fully engage in it and learn what it has to offer. When we show up for our life, we are actively participating in being a happy person, achieving our goals, and generally living the life our soul really wants. If we need healing, we begin the process of seeking out those who can help us heal. If we need experience, we find the places and opportunities that can give us the experience we need in order to do the work we want to do in the world. Whatever we need, we look for it, and when we find it, we engage in the process of letting ourselves have it. When we do this kind of work, we become lively, confident, and passionate individuals.

There is almost nothing better in the world than the feeling of showing up for our own lives. When we can do this, we become people that are more alive and who have the ability to make things happen in our lives and the lives of the people around us. We walk through the world with the knowledge that we have a lot to offer and the desire to share it.

If you`re born within cusp period (16 to 26 of any month); you`re advised to read horoscopes of both signs covered by that period. You`re in the border; you may have influences from houses within those signs.

Outlines are longer versions; consists of every possible detail of everyday and based on three parts of each sign: 1st, 2nd & 3rd Decan; that is, any of three divisions of 10° within a sign of the zodiac. Even if you know or don`t know your Decan; I recommend, please read all three Decan.

Personal theme: I am!!
Fire & cardinal sign: March 21 — April 19

Your horoscope for this week:

Frustrating as weeks of obstacles or, alternatively, being forced to deal with dull details have been, they`re nearly done; and, to your surprise, you`ve learnt a great deal in the process. While, at the time, these insights seemed merely interesting, within a few days they`ll prove crucial. This particularly applies to situations in which you must make swift decisions and have little time to seek guidance.

Meeting with people who are crucial to your career or financial plans is on the agenda. You`re tempted to exaggerate a situation to get their attention. Do your homework, stick to the facts and disregard wishful thinking. Mixing business with pleasure feels wonderful. You`ve always been good at finding solutions to stubborn problems. This, along with your ability to juggle multiple jobs at the same time will boost your reputation. You`ll have lots of fun sharing ideas with friends.

Whilst it could be argued that you`re at your best when allowed to be independent, it`s also true that those of your sign know the value of teamwork. With both the Sun and Venus transiting an area of your solar chart that is all about networking, you could do worse than use this week to assess both the competition and the energy levels of those whom you considered to be part of your army. The fighting fitness of this team likely needs to be assessed mid-week. In fact, you might even consider this to be the dawn of `Operation X` ready to be implemented fully after the Solar Eclipse mid-February. This week then, seems to be all about harnessing energy and undertaking both risk and cost analysis.

Personal theme: I have!!
Earth & fixed sign: April 20 — May 20

Your horoscope for this week:

Obviously, you`re in no mood for reorganising elements of your domestic or working life. While, thus far, you`ve been able to sidestep these, they`re not only inevitable, they`re in your best interests. The cycle gets kick-started with the events triggered by the eclipsed Full Moon on 31 January and climaxes with the eclipsed New Moon on 15 February. After that, the dust will begin to settle.

People who are impressed with your skills will seek your help with a variety of tasks. They know that you know how to get things done. Someone who appreciates your helpful attitude could make you an impressive offer. Once you`ve fulfilled your obligations, don`t be surprised to find yourself thinking about taking a relaxing holiday. Explore discounted travel packages on the internet. You could stumble across an offer that will be perfect for you.

With both the Sun and Venus now proud at the top of your solar chart, it`s time to give considered thought to your business plan for the year. In particular, it would be good to assess what competitors or other work colleagues are doing. Don`t forget that you do have a unique selling point (that makes you stand out from the crowd). Determining what that is and enhancing those qualities should take priority before the lunar eclipse at the end of the month. To this end, and specifically mid-week, you should find that you have support from someone with considerable experience and who sees in you rare qualities. This could lead to intense discussion over Thursday and Friday as to how best to present your plans to those who would be allies.

Personal theme: I think!!
Air sign: May 21 — June 20

Your horoscope for this week:

Discussing your ideas seems wise, but the resulting debates will distract you when making plans is a priority. This is tricky, because while things need to be organised, what you come up with will be temporary, and need to be substantially rethought, probably within a few weeks. Knowing that, regard whatever you do as an experiment to learn from. Long terms arrangements can and should wait.

A community project may not be lucrative but it will be emotionally rewarding. In fact, the more you get out of a group effort, the wealthier you will feel inside. This is a great time to visit your favourite neighbourhood hangouts. When money is tight, creative projects can be a pleasant diversion. Work with recycled materials instead of shop bought items. This will be a fun challenge and you will be thrilled with the results.

With both the Sun and Venus moving through another of the Air signs and accenting that area of your solar chart that leaves you thirsty for information, you could dart around this week capturing ideas and skilfully putting them to good use. However, it would be wise not to underestimate the importance of being discreet. What you don`t need is for others to run off with your plans. Securing your intellectual property should take priority mid-week. Bear in mind that the Full Moon on the last day of January is also a lunar eclipse. It`s not unknown for people to behave badly at these moments. For now, and despite encouragement, it would be wise to keep your own counsel whilst giving thought as to who you`d like as part of your army for when the going gets tough next week.

Personal theme: I feel!!
Water & cardinal sign: June 21 — July 22

Your horoscope for this week:

Life would be a lot easier if you could organise long term business or financial plans now; but with eclipses, on 31 January and mid-February, triggering shakeups, you`re better off keeping things flexible. Discuss arrangements and organise what you can; but, equally, ensure what you`ve devised can be rethought when the unsettling but also, often, profitable events of the coming month or so unfold.

Someone in the family is exaggerating problems of an emotional nature. A neighbour`s insensitive remarks has made them more vulnerable than usual. You feel they`re building mountains out of molehills in an effort to get out of attending a party. You can`t force them to go but it could do them a power of good. Make sure all joint expenses are shared. Someone is getting into the habit of expecting you to pay for everything.

True, a Lunar Eclipse (31st) is waiting in the wings. That implies an ending. True too, this could affect partner`s affairs more than your own. Whatever, a change in working pace seems to be on the horizon. Between now and 31st several hurdles have to be negotiated. Tempting as it must surely be to withdraw into your shell (and certainly that could be ultra-compelling mid-week), by next Friday, your crabby claws should be on the move. With classic Cancerian determination you could move at speed toward safer harbour. What`s interesting on this occasion is that as of Friday a stalwart colleague could cut the path ahead making the going easier. This surprise development (support) should boost your spirits enormously.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——- —— —– —- — — –

Personal theme: I will!!
Fire & fixed sign: July 23 — August 22

Your horoscope for this week:

Your dramatic side is likely to come out between now and the emotionally intense eclipsed Full Moon in your sign on 31 January. Tempting as it is to commit to changes or future plans, stick to discussion. The reason? Nothing will be clear until the events triggered by the second of this current pair of eclipses, on 15 February. Only after that will long term plans be reliable.

Expect some long and frustrating delays if you are travelling. Traffic will be terrible and the weather might play havoc with your schedule. Get an early start if you`re going on a long journey or taking a trip out of town and don`t plan on getting anywhere in a hurry. Do you want to improve your health? Beware of taxing your system with alcohol, fat and sugar. Nutritious meals, taking regular exercise and getting enough sleep are all essential to your well-being.

Bear in mind that the approaching Full Moon is also a Lunar Eclipse in your sign (31st). As of this week, with both the Sun and Venus in your opposite sign, the heat begins to build. It seems likely that either you or someone close, is clinging so firmly to the past that there is danger of missing opportunities. Tensions – especially on the financial front will surely increase mid-week. Yet midst the probable chaos, and noting that Mars is crossing the base of your solar chart, deep-seated passions could be stirred in a good way. Your asset management style for 2018, even if embryonic, should develop at speed. It may be that a change of direction is required. At the very simplest level, this might include renegotiating an insurance deal. At another level entirely, it may be about taking over the financial reins and controlling a budget.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——- —— —– —- — — –

Personal theme: I analyse!!
Earth sign: August 23 — September 22

Your horoscope for this week:

Being a cautious Virgo, you`ve been reluctant to raise issues you knew could upset others. Yet you`ve been increasingly aware that certain matters need attention. The fact is, others are concerned, too, and will be relieved that you said something or took action. Don`t try to do this alone. Include those who share responsibility for these. They`re well informed and, what`s more, will benefit.

You need help to get a project off the ground. Reach out to a friend who has experience in this area. They`ll be happy to lend a hand and grateful for this chance to show off their knowledge and know how. Together you will make a joint enterprise extremely successful. If any of your plans for the week are altered, this may be due to a surprise, one morning. It will be best to flow with circumstances and float to whatever destination this may take you.

It could be argued that those of your sign have exceptional ability to understand the knots that others tie themselves into and have the wonderful ability to know how best to help them untangle these. Your ability to be discreet and to evaluate should be particularly noticeable mid-week. It wouldn`t then be surprising if complex negotiations took place. Hold the thought that there is a Lunar Eclipse on the last day of January and that given the increasingly emotional state of others, that it may not be possible to conclude or finalise a deal until next month. You probably don`t need to be reminded, but it would be wise to make copious notes. You will no doubt need to refer to these and remind others of what they said they wanted and had agreed to.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——- —— —– —- — — –

Personal theme: I balance!!
Air & cardinal sign: September 23 — October 22

Your horoscope for this week:

Juggling duties, especially on the domestic or professional front, and activities that involve life`s pleasures is always somewhat of a challenge; but at the moment there are genuine conflicts. Instead of worrying about this, as you might ordinarily do, you`re urged to discuss your concerns frankly with those involved. The resulting exchange of ideas will intense and occasionally surprising, but rewarding for everybody concerned.

A job you are working on looks like it is about to fall flat on its face and although this may be upsetting, it is better to try and fail than not to try at all. Even if you don`t have quite the right touch, don`t give up too quickly. Remember that practice makes perfect. A friend will seem to resent the time you are giving to personal and family matters but don`t apologise. It`s up to you what you do with your time and you know where your priorities lie.

If this week had to have a title, it would surely be `Put your house in order week`. We enter an eclipse period between January 31 and February 15. Energies then will be very different and suitable for both breaking habits and new ground. First though, it`s essential to know exactly where you stand, what improvements need to be made, what investments need to be made and what is now past its sell by date. By Wednesday 24th those conclusions could be reached leaving you free to determine the next course of action. Those actions might take even partners by surprise. Whilst, if you like, you may have been smouldering quietly through until Thursday, as of Friday it seems you will be all systems go: directing traffic and making clear that the past is now firmly the past and that you`re moving forward.

Scorpio & Ophiuchus
Personal theme: I desire!!
Water & fixed signs: October 23 — November 21

Your horoscope for this week:

This is the last of several weeks during which your ruler Pluto has played a powerful role in the dramas going on around you and in your own life. However, hopefully by now you`ve realised these situations don`t have a single, perfect solution but, rather, are all about discussion and allowing your perspective and those of others to evolve. The more options you explore, the better.

If a travel opportunity fills you with excitement, follow it. A change of scenery would do you good and you might meet a fascinating person while going to or on reaching your destination. A financial matter will be a minor bone of contention. A loved one is being irresponsible with money and the two of you need to sit down and talk things through. If someone isn`t paying their way, keep a record of your expenses to prove how much this is costing you.

With both the Sun and Venus now moving across the base of your solar chart it`s time to review what you really like doing, which assets you want to protect and which working partnerships are worthy of your investment. Arriving at a conclusion about all this before the weekend would then leave you well-placed when others make shock announcements in the last days of January. Note that the lunar Eclipse on 31st is in another of the Fixed signs. It`s quite possible that someone whom you considered to be in place forever, has plans to move on. Preparations for an event – most likely planned for May, – could also require extra attention. It may be felt that you could charm someone into giving more in terms of time and energy than they had originally agreed.

Personal theme: I see!!
Fire sign: November 22 — December 21

Your horoscope for this week:

Usually, you`re not only clear-minded about your priorities, you make decisions swiftly. Yet with dynamic Mars in the most strategic portion of your chart, you`ve been unable to think or move as swiftly as usual. Frustrating as that`s been, you`ve learnt a lot and considered new and unfamiliar options. Tempting as it is to move swiftly, things are still too unsettled. By early February they`ll be clearer.

A bright idea will boost your business or financial prospects especially from a profit sharing standpoint. Joining forces with a friend in a creative project will prove lucrative. You will be amazed by what you can do with the support of people who believe in you. Play your social life by ear. You don`t have to act on an unexpected invitation but it could be to your benefit if you do. You`re sure to meet some influential people.

Expect your phone line to be buzzing. It`s also possible that by the First Quarter Moon on Wednesday that your daily routine will be significantly altered. This may be the time to return to a diet that you first tried out in the spring of last year. Renewed contact with someone seeking advice on the next stage of their career could give rise to thoughts as to how you could best pass on knowledge. In fact, the teacher or guide in you could be apparent to all before the weekend. Career-wise, with a Lunar Eclipse in another of the Fire signs at the end of January, it may be that you`re made aware that a colleague will be moving on and that there is a potential gap for you to fill. Whether this really is the right opportunity for you may be something you want to discuss with a close friend or partner over the weekend. Be prepared for their response to take you by surprise. It may be that they have plans for the two of you that are still in embryonic stage but which make clear that they see the remainder of the year quite differently to the way that you do.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——- —— —– —- — — –

Personal theme: I use!!
Earth & cardinal sign: December 22 — January 19

Your horoscope for this week:

The past week or so will have been confusing, but in a way, that`s forced you to review certain arrangements you`ve regarded as unchanging. Now that you realise these could be altered, you`re also considering others that have become either dull, restrictive or both. Risky as considering serious changes without a clear option seems, you`ll soon realise that it`s both wise and timely.

A team spirit is distinctly lacking in a project you are involved in. A supervisor`s negative outlook is affecting the rest of the group. You cannot relax in such a tense environment and would rather work on your own. Volunteering for jobs behind the scenes could be the ideal solution. After a lot of speculation and frustration, you will finally get a better handle on a confusing incident and many of your questions will be answered.

By the First Quarter Moon on Wednesday, the need to talk about your experiences and level of expertise – and how this can be matched with reward – increases. As a result, you likely need to have your negotiating head on. It might help to read books written by those who have proven business experience. It would perhaps also help to have a mentor. Bearing in mind the forthcoming lunar and solar eclipse, it`s probable that working patterns are about to change. A gap may be left that is near perfect for you to fill. Yet you might also be tempted by an offer that would take you to pastures new. Certainly, weighing up pros and cons: comparing the familiar with the unknown could be absorbing. Someone born under one of the Water signs of Cancer, Scorpio or Pisces may been mesmerised by the way in you in which you weigh up pros and cons. Their insight could make a real difference to your final choice.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——- —— —– —- — — –

Personal theme: I know!!
Air & fixed sign: January 20 — February 18

Your horoscope for this week:

For weeks, the needs and, often, demands of others have come first. While you understood, you`ve been forced to neglect a number of your own interests or even obligations. Now, happily, the tide is turning. Ironically, having so little dealt with will make it easier for you to take advantage of the amazing, if unsettling, events triggered by mid-February`s powerful Aquarius eclipsed New Moon.

If you feel at a loose end as the week begins, it`s probably the residue of some recent uncertainties. The coming days will clarify any confusion you may have had. Once a contentious matter is resolved to everyone`s satisfaction, you will get back into your own stride. You may not be able to spend as much time with friends as you really want. Either you will have things to do that keep you apart or they may have responsibilities they can`t get out of.

With Venus now moving through your sign, it`s probable that you are indeed, at your most attractive. In particular, your insight into the way in which something operates and, importantly the way in which new technology might be utilised, could result in you being asked to attend a key meeting (most likely on Wednesday or Thursday). Actually, it may be that far from you attending a meeting elsewhere, others come to your lair.. Bear in mind that the Lunar Eclipse on 31st is in your opposite sign and that those with whom you`ve worked closely are probably changing gear. To what extent you are happy to continue to put energy into working with them requires careful thought. Before next weekend you may need reassurance that your efforts will be noted and rewarded.

Personal theme: I believe!!
Water sign: February 19 — March 20

Your horoscope for this week:

Ignoring the complaints of those who`re struggling isn`t easy; but your efforts to help have either been unappreciated or, bizarrely, ignored. The issue isn`t what you`ve done but that the individuals in question enjoy struggling with problems and aren`t especially interested in seeing them remedied. Accepting this isn`t easy, but it will explain a lot, and not only about them but about other similarly bizarre situations.

If a key person bows out of joint arrangements, you may have no choice but to revise your agenda. Don`t waste your time wondering why they have let you down. You will find a way around this problem and you will know better in the future about working with someone who is all talk and no action. Alternative activities give you an opportunity for personal growth and will bring new friends your way. Take things slowly at first and let a bond of mutual trust grow between you.

Though the Lunar Eclipse isn`t until the last day of the month, you might already feel and sense that others are about to change direction. True, it could be next weekend before they give voice to their plans.. For now, you may be right to be suspicious and, where possible, probe their thinking. It`s highly likely that mid-week you will be used as a sounding board. The germ of a project could then gather strength. What it likely needs and by Friday, is your particular perspective. Whether or not you actually have artistic qualities, it`s probable that you do see things as though you have special insight. Don`t be surprised then if a Capricorn actively seeks your support. This is no time to be coy: better to step up to the challenge which should prove exciting.
