The Parking Place Word
Spell Date: Sunday, July 23, 2017

Anyone who lives in a city knows that finding a place to park can be a challenge. In their 1988 book Found Goddesses, Morgan Grey and Julia Penelope found the goddess Asphalta and created this invocation:

“Hail, Asphalta, full of grace: Help me find a parking place.”

Another magical aid is the Parking Place Word. It’s ZZZAAAZZZ, pronounced with great vigor and force. Say this word when you turn the corner onto the street where you want to park or when you enter the parking lot. Speak aloud where you want to park, perhaps in front of a particular house or store. Be aware that while your space will almost always open up, you may have to drive around the block or go up and down a few aisles.

Just the other night, I said ZZZAAAZZZ on my cellphone to a friend who was looking for a parking spot and a space opened up right in front of her. Really!

Divination for Safe Travel
Spell Date: Saturday, July 22, 2017

For this spell, you’ll need:

* Tarot cards (or your favorite divinatory tool )
* A white candle
* A small toy car, airplane, boat, etc. (depending on your mode of travel )

Shuffle and cut your tarot cards according to your usual process.

Light a white candle. Turn one tarot card to represent you on your travels; place the toy on the card. Meditate on the candlelight, imagining every stage of your trip, from start to finish.

Turn three more tarot cards, setting them on your altar in a row. The first one represents your journey to your destination, the second one your time at the destination, and the third one your trip home.

Meditate on the cards and what they may indicate. Ask for protection and guidance, invoking a guardian deity if you choose to. When finished, extinguish the candle. Tuck the toy into your luggage, where it will serve as a protective talisman. Leave the cards on your altar until you return from your trip.

Energy Boost
Spell Date: Friday, July 21, 2017

Life can be exhausting, and we can all use an energy boost from time to time. The next time you need a little more energy, instead of having an extra cup of coffee, try saying this spell to ask the element of fire for the gift of its power and vitality:

“Fire bright and fire strong,
Give me energy all day long.
With your warm and gentle fire,
Keep me going when I tire.”

Heal Without Surgery
Spell Date: Thursday, July 20, 2017

Sometimes a doctor presents you with a choice: either X happens or you need surgery. This spell pushes positive energy into the better (X ) outcome, while driving surgery away.

Write the positive outcome on a piece of paper, over and over, filling the paper, while concentrating on it coming to pass. Fold the paper as small as it will go. Place it in a jar filled with honey. Seal the jar tightly. Place a green candle on top of the jar, light it, and meditate on healing energy flowing into your “sweetened” intention.

Now take a knife, representing surgery. Feel today’s waning-moon energy shrinking the need for surgery until it disappears. Say over and over to the knife:

“I don’t need you.”

Say this while wrapping the knife in a black cloth. Send the energy of diminishment into the knife. Bury it at the soonest opportunity.

Keep the green candle burning on your sweet jar until your next doctor’s appointment. Keep the jar on a fireproof tile, someplace where it won’t get knocked over.

Spell to Summon New Friends
Spell Date: Wednesday, July 19, 2017

Today the Moon is in Gemini and lends us the power to bring friends, tribe, and community together regardless of where they are. Combined with the Sun in Cancer, today is also particularly good for summoning friends and tribe members you haven’t met yet! This spell is one that I have used for over a decade with great success.

Go outside and face the east at dusk and open your arms as if to embrace a lover. Draw a pentacle of orange flame in the air before you and say:

“I call to the spirits who make life good to carry my words across the land!
I summon a friend who is true of heart, who from me will never part.
Come to me, ally, I know you are there, sweet these words that travel on air!
As I will it, so must this be!”

Holey Protection
Spell Date: Tuesday, July 18, 2017

I believe that we all need a little boost of self-confidence, self-esteem, and courage at times. Sometimes all that’s necessary to provide that boost is a simple, meaningful object that you can carry with you.

Finding a holey stone (a stone containing naturally created holes) has long been considered lucky, but it can also be used for protection. You’ll need to find a place where you can look for your own holey stone. Good spots include stream beds, places that sell sand and gravel, or even playgrounds with gravel surfaces.

Once you’ve found your holey stone, cleanse it, bless it, and string it on a small chain to wear around your neck on days when you need a little help finding your courage and dealing with your fears.

Protection for a Pet
Spell Date: Monday, July 17, 2017

House pets can get out into the real world. An open door or broken screen, a damaged leash, a fright that made them bolt… It happens. You want to be sure that if they get out, you can recover them.

This spell is a mix of the magical and the mundane. Be sure the pet has some form of identification. The perfect solution is a microchip. Talk to your vet about this.

There are also tags. You can use a service that provides a tag with a phone number that is called and they can alert you, or your vet may provide the same service. Just make sure your pet is identifiable.

It always helps if you discuss this with your pet’s protector. Most people prefer Bast for cats and Anubis for dogs. Do some research and find that special protector for your pet.

Heartwings Love Notes 785 The Only Constant is Change
By TashaHal@aol.com

Heartwings says, “What we expect and what actually happens may differ.”

A wise teacher of mine once said, “The only constant in life is change.” Sounds like an oxymoron, or contradiction in terms, yet it surely has been true for me. From the time I was an adult I have had to embrace a sense of flexibility concerning my expectations. It may have helped that to begin with I grew up in New England where the weather can go from a shower to sunshine and back to a shower again in quick succession.

My childhood did not prepare me for a life of change. I lived a protected life. Death was spoken of only in whispers. There were no TV images of soldiers fighting and dying, or news about murders and fires. The war that was going on then was a distant rumble, its only evidence being the air raid blackouts when my dad in his air raid warden helmet roamed the neighborhood to warn inhabitants of any light showing through their darkened windows.

When the war ended there was not much difference in my life except for the packages my parents sent to their relatives overseas. They were stuffed with clothing and edibles that could travel, and tied with bales of twine to keep them from being opened. This stable childhood did not really prepare me for the life of change I lived as an adult. However, I have no quarrel with these experiences, and I believe they have benefited me in very tangible ways.

Lately without knowing what or how I have felt that something is about to happen. However I have found it impossible to plan ahead for change because it is never quite what I expect. For instance, how could I foresee that Stephen’s acquisition of one pot of a few succulents two years ago would multiply into a garden of pots and many more varieties. I welcome whatever is next. My only expectation is that as good as it has been in the past so it will be as in the future or perhaps even better.

May whatever life brings you change your life for the better in wonderful ways.

Blessings and Best Regards, Tasha Halpert

PS I so love to hear from readers. Please feel free to send me your reflections and suggestions and I will be sure to answer you as soon as I can.

Stephen Halpert
The Birthday Party

From the time she was quite small Cathy used to catch glimpses of something from the corner of her eyes that wasn’t there when she would turn to look again.
At twelve after her grandmother had passed away Cathy would occasionally catch sight of her loving smile and feel her presence nearby.
After she had known her fiancé Jim for a while, he shared with her that he often caught sight of relatives who had passed away. After their marriage they studied mediumship, and although they never practiced mediumship per se they occasionally attended a Spiritualist church where they received messages from departed loved ones.
Over the years it had come as no surprise to them when they heard from friends who had passed on.
Although there was a six year difference in their ages Jim and Cathy celebrated their birthdays on the same day. As Jim turned a healthy eighty-seven. Cathy was a sprightly eighty-one.
“I think we should have a birthday party,” Cathy said
“Let our daughter Lisa and Rudy throw one for us. However, we might as well have it at the cemetery. These days that’s where most of our friends are anyway.”
“I suppose you’re right about that,” Cathy said. “But it does seem a perverse place for a celebration.”
“Better there than at some overpriced restaurant with food we can’t eat anymore. This way we can enjoy delicious birthday pastry as we walk amongst our friends.”
“I doubt Lisa would find anything like that appealing.”
“In which case remind her that’s it’s our party, not hers.”
At first Lisa was shocked. “Mom do you really want to do that?” Her husband Rudy calmed her down saying it would be considerably less expensive than taking them to some fancy restaurant.”
On their special day Jim and Cathy pushed their walkers amongst the tombstones while Lisa and Rudy set up the bridge tables and loaded them with special birthday pastries. It wasn’t long before Jim spotted one of their dear old friends now deceased.
“Look there’s Clarence Rainy,” he said. “He doesn’t look a day over seventy. I’d recognize that red stocking cap of his anywhere.”
“He passed at seventy,” Cathy said. “Don’t you remember we were at his funeral.”
Clarence waved. “You folks checking in?”
“Not yet,” Jim said.
“Well its a quiet place,” Clarence said. “The train’s a little noisy but most of us here have learned to ignore it.”
“You look even younger than you did the day you passed,” Cathy said.
“Around here you just keep getting younger,” Clarence said.
“Come over to our table and have some delicious pastry,” Cathy said. “It’s from that wonderful gourmet bakery in Worcester.”
“Thank you. Don’t mind if I do.” Clarence said. “Good to see you.” He headed toward the card tables.
Next Cathy spotted one of her dearest friends. “Gertrude, Gertrude Mason!” Tears filled Cathy’s eyes. “I haven’t seen you since before that awful auto wreck. We were in Florida when we heard about it and we missed your funeral.”
Gertrude smiled and hugged Cathy. “Don’t even think about it. I wasn’t there either. Tony met me at the crash and the two of us went straight to Niagara Falls. We’d never managed to visit there before his stroke. His being there when I crossed over sure made it a happy death for me.”
“Oh I’m so glad. They’re the best kind,” Jim said. “I haven’t exactly figured when I’ll be checking out.”
“You don’t have to,” Gertrude said. “All that’s taken care of ahead of time, before you were even born.”
I hope some of my old bowling buddies will be there to meet me,” Jim said.
“And maybe they’ll bring some beer,” Cathy said. “I know liked like that when you all got together to bowl.”
Cathy looked into Gertrude’s wavy eyes. “You must be sure to have some of our birthday pastry. It’s over on the bridge table where Lisa and her husband Rudy are standing.”
“Why I haven’t seen Lisa since she left for college. I always thought she looked like you. Now I’ll see if she still does.” Gertrude’s voice trailed away.
Another slightly transparent figure approached them. “Well look at you two,” Horace Sage said.
“My old fishing buddy,” Jim said with a smile. “I was so sad when I heard you swallowed that fish bone and didn’t survive.”
“Wasn’t so bad once I got the hang of not breathing. Then it was all just like being alive only in a different movie.”
“I wish people knew about stuff like that before they checked out,” Jim said.
“Well maybe it’s better they don’t.” Horace said. “That sort of knowledge might tend to promote extravagance.”
“Good point,” Cathy said. “Go enjoy some pastry. Over there on the bridge tables.”
Horace nodded. “Once you make it over here you’ll be able to join our weekly poker game. Sometimes we take a junket to Florida to catch some ball games during spring training.”
“How does all that come about?” Jim said.
“Oh we just materialize the way I’m doing now. Then we all show up where we all decide to go. I haven’t got a clue how all that works. But I can tell you it does.”
“Sounds good to me.” Jim chuckled. “Of course I’d rather wait until it’s Cathy’s turn. Then we could cross over together.”
“If that’s how you feel,” Horace said. “But you may not have any choice in the matter.”
“That’s what I try telling him,” Cathy said. “But you know he’s just as stubborn and pigheaded as ever.”
“Go get something to eat,” Jim bristled. Horace nodded and faded away.
“I’m starting to get tired,” Cathy said. “I think we should go back to the tables and sit with the children.”
“Have some pastry,” Rudy said as Cathy and Jim returned.
Lisa turned and looked at the platter. “My goodness,” she exclaimed. “It’s practically all gone.” She glared at her husband. “What do you mean eating all that?”
“Me?” Rudy’s face flushed and he shook his head.
“You promised you were going to lose weight. This is a fine way to act!”
Jim and Cathy looked at each other and grinned. He put his arm around her. “It’s good to know,” he said, “that even when you’re on the other side of the grass you can still enjoy good pastry.”

Smudging With White Sage
by Crooked Bear Creek Organic Herbs

Smudging is the common name given to a powerful cleansing technique from the Native North American Tradition. Smudging calls on the spirits of sacred plants to drive away negative energies and restore balance. It is the art of cleansing yourself and your environment using simple ritual and ceremony. For thousands of years smudging has been a part of Native American tradition but now this practice is becoming far more widespread and with the advent of the internet, White Sage is now readily available to nearly everyone.

ABOUT WHITE SAGE

White Sage (Also called Sacred Sage) leaves are widely used as a cleansing herb, to purify the mind, body and also to purify the atmosphere & to dispel negativity. It is also used to purify sacred items. It is often carried in a charm bag or even a pocket to ensure personal and spiritual safety. Sage is used in wish manifestations and to attract money. This herb is often used to promote healing and spirituality.

SMUDGING – A POWERFUL PRACTICE

How can smudging be so powerful? The answer lies in the world of spiritual energy. Homes and bodies are not just made of just the physical matter; they also vibrate with quiet, invisible energy. Cleansing a space or ourselves with techniques such as smudging helps to cleanse away all the emotional and psychic ‘trash’ that may have gathered over the last few days, months, years or even hundreds of years. In a very real way, it is a form of spiritual spring cleaning!

The effects of smudging can be surprisingly quick and dramatic. Smudging can help you banish stress, rid yourself and the area around you of negativity and even give you more energy. Smoke from White Sage can help dispel anger and calm frayed nerves, thus helping to avoid a fight or argument even before it begins! Smudging with White Sage can turn any space, no matter where, into a calming sanctuary – a place of renewal and increased happiness.

A BIT OF HISTORY

It is impossible to say for sure when the practice of smudging started. It is said that early civilizations came to realize, through sheer trial and error, that the smoke generated by setting alight particular herbs had beneficial effects. Certainly many cultures have an old tradition of driving animals through smoke to kill off pests and diseases.

These days modern science has proven that certain herbs really do have cleansing powers and can act as strong but natural pesticides, antiseptics etc. In addition to this beneficial and practical aspect of burning herbs, the Aromatherapeutic and spiritual aspects and effects of burning herbs are becoming more commonly acknowledged and used. White Sage Smudge is an all natural ceremonial incense, traditionally burned in Native American rituals and used in sweat lodges. Increasingly, doctors, therapists, and other healers are discovering the beneficial aspects of such natural herbs as White Sage. Smudging is one of the means by which people all over the world are reconnecting with the power of Nature. The smudge smoke is made either by spreading dry herbs on hot coals or hot rocks or igniting dry herbs on a heat proof surface.

The use of plant and resin smoke has long been a Native American tradition. The ceremony of cleansing people, places and objects through herb smoke is continued today. To apply the protective cleansing power of a smudge, a leaf or resin was heated to make smoke that was brushed (or wafted) over the person or object often with a feather fan.

Sage is burned in smudging ceremonies to drive out bad spirits, feelings or influences. The leaves are valued for their aromatic properties and are used as a natural insect repellent. Native Americans of the Plains Nations cover the floor of their sweat lodges with sage. They will also breathe through a small bundle of sage and at times rub the bundle on their bodies while in the sweat lodge. The idea of purification through smoke is certainly not exclusive to the Native North Americans. Most rituals have some element of cleansing, including incense or herbal smoke mixtures which are burned all around the world as well as here, in the Western world.

HOW AND WHY IS SMUDGING USED?

In the Native American tradition, mixtures of sacred herbs and resins were burned in a special bowl. Smoke was then wafted around the person, place or object needing purification and cleansing. White Sage is considered “sacred” by Native Americans who have used the loose herbs for generations in the “smudging” ceremony. The smell of White Sage will remind you of the desert and the sacredness of life. Smudges put out a lot of soothing smoke. Very refreshing, relaxing, clearing — like drifting through clouds…

Native Americans use sage smudge to purify the mind, body, and spirit before praying, purifying the atmosphere & dispersing negativity. It is also used to purify sacred items such as pipes and other ritual items. Some may use it to purify their homes, offices, cars and some carry a small amount of sage in a pocket or medicine pouch to ensure personal and spiritual safety.

The herb most often used in smudging is White Sage. Sage drives out negative thoughts, energies, spirits, and all “bad” influences. Many enlightened people see smudging as a way of shifting between various levels of reality, connecting us here in the physical world to the subtle realms beyond the visible, the realm of Spirit.

Smudging with White Sage is common, prior to ritual or spell work. Smudging is also significant at other times such as when sickness is near, anxiety has become too much to bear, etc. The smoke is often used in the tradition to purify and spiritually cleanse altar items, the Circle and people entering into the Circle, or sacred work space. Other herbs such as Rosemary, Lavender, and others are often used as well.

The following is a guide that covers many cases when one might want to smudge but is by no means all inclusive. Use White Sage whenever you feel the need; indeed, whenever the spirit moves you!

HOW TO SMUDGE

BEFORE YOU BEGIN:
WARNINGS
• Make sure the area you are smudging is well ventilated. This is a health precaution, as well as a spiritually practical one as well, as the negative energy will need an “escape route”.
• Smoke from herbs can lead to allergic reactions or trigger asthma or other forms of respiratory distress in sensitive persons.
• Do not use near infants or very young children or people with respiratory problems such as asthma.
• Do not begin using smudge if you are pregnant.
• Never leave burning smudge unattended.
• Place some sand or soil or even salt in the bottom of the container to provide insulation as otherwise, the container could scorch a surface it is placed upon.

We do not assume any responsibility for the way individuals burn or respond to the smoke from any herbs. If you choose to burn herbs, do so only in a well-ventilated area, use common sense and moderation. Discontinue use and contact your health professional if any irritation develops.

BEGIN SMUDGING:
First, for a total cleansing, open all doors & windows of space to be clear, providing an “exit” point for all the old energies. (This opening of the windows, etc. is not always necessary, but it is useful to have at least one open door or window whenever smudging)

FOCUS ON YOUR INTENT:

Any action, undertaken with intention and belief can become a potent ritual. Consider your intention before you smudge and hold it clearly in your mind. You may wish to invite the spirit of the herbs to join you and guide and assist with your intention.
A long-handled candle lighter, match or candle is recommended to light the herbs as it may take a little time to get the herb smoking. Once there’s a flame, put it out so that the herb is smoldering, not burning. Wave the flame with your hand or feather to put out the fire. Allow the smudge herbs to smolder, freeing the smoke to circle in the air.

If you are smudging a group, smudge yourself first. Offer smoke to the seven directions (east, south, west, north and up, down and center) sometimes called the cardinal directions.

Smudging yourself: Fan the swirls of smoke around your body from head to toe with your hands or feather. You may want to especially focus on chakra areas where you feel there are blockages or where there has been or is a physical, emotional, or psychic pain. Visualize the smoke lifting away all the negative thoughts, emotions and energies that have attached themselves to you. If you are feeling depressed for instance you could visualize the smoke carrying away all your feelings of depression.

Smudging another: It is often appropriate to smudge guests as they enter the space at a ritual, ceremony or special event. Smudge as if you were smudging yourself, fanning the smoke all over their body. You may want to speak an intention or a suggestion for the smudging as you do it.

For instance, “Allow the sacred smoke to cleanse your body and spirit and bring you present and available into this moment”

During healing work: During healing work, the smoke may be fanned over the person either by your hand or with feathers. This clears out unhealthy energies and brings in the special attributes of the herbs.

You may also direct smudge to each of the person’s chakras and as you do so visualize each chakra coming into balance as it is purified by the smudge. If you can see auras, look for discolored places in the aura and direct the healing smoke towards those places on the patient’s body. (using precautions and common sense in the case of people with respiratory difficulties and/or pregnant women)

Smudging a room or space: For cleansing a house, first whenever possible, offer smoke to the four directions outside the house, starting with the east, then south, west and ending with the north. Beginning with the lowest level of your house, and moving upward, light the smudge and walk about the perimeter, giving special attention to the corners and the places behind doors. You can also fan the smoke throughout the room with a large feather.

Repeat the following either out loud, or in your mind: “I break up and release all negative and stagnant energy in this place. May peace light and divine love protect us and be ever present.”
Cleansing objects: Hold the objects to be purified in the smoke or fan the smoke over them. If you are clearing your crystals prior to programming them to thank both them and the herbs for helping you to realize your goals.

Extinguishing the smudge: Have ready a fireproof receptacle such as another shell or a glass or ceramic dish to put the smudge in when you’ve finished. It’s ideal to damp the herb out in sand, or earth or you can just press it against the bottom of the receptacle. If using a lidded container, just close the lid. Always make sure that a smoldering smudge herb is out before leaving the room where you keep it.

How often should I smudge? At least at the beginning of every season. You can smudge once a day if you like. Daily smudging is recommended daily for health or spirit practitioners. There is never a bad time to cleanse your environment and yourself of old, stale or negative energies. Smudging is particularly helpful during times of stress, after arguments or whenever you are feeling negative and anxious.

OTHER USES
DRIED WHITE SAGE TO DE-BUG YOUR HOME OR GARDEN:
Here’s what you do: For creepy crawlies in the house, take a good bit of your White Sage (in a fire-safe container that will not burn your hands when carrying it) and burn it in your house going through every room. Be careful of sparks because it smolders like incense does. Waft it up into the corners and pay special attention to baseboards, cracks, and crevices and anywhere else you may have seen the unwanted critters. This helps drive them out of your house. They hate the smell. If you have an attic or basement, be sure to smudge there as well.

Coven – Practicing Witchcraft Together
by barefootpathwalker

To be a solo practitioner or not to be a solo practitioner, that is the question.

I, at the current moment, consider myself to be a solo practitioner, and I don’t really have any desire to change that. To me magick has always been about finding and walking my own Path. It has always been deeply personal and intuitive. Also, if you’ve read some of my other work, you can tell I don’t have any particular appreciation for the ‘rules’ as others dictate them or in following any rigid set of traditions.

However, lately I’ve been wanting something a bit more connected to the wonderfulness and energy of my fellow witches, Wiccans, Pagans and all other spiritualists, so I’ve been exploring the idea of a Coven.

My preference would be for a no pressure place that friends can join to share ideas, communicate, support each other and have a community of like-minded individuals, above all, not a place of pressure, rules or politics.

Is that the answer? A new type of Coven, that allows people to come together but isn’t rigid in its demands or expectations? A loosely joined group that come and go as they please, free to practice how they wish and maintain their own methods and beliefs but with the support and friendship of the community?

Coven? To be or not to be?

Working with a Shaman
By Madisyn Taylor

Working with a shaman can be a great puzzle piece in the process of becoming whole again.
Since time immemorial, certain men and women have felt called to heal the sick, to safeguard knowledge, to guide the lost, and to commune with the spirit world. These unique individuals, known as shamans, were mystics and seers, repositories of wisdom, and keepers of herbal lore. During those periods when ignorance loomed large in the world, shamans across the globe bided their time, peacefully practicing their practical yet refined arts in the jungle, mountains, deserts, and tundra that protected them from those who misunderstood shamanism. Today, however, shamanism has reemerged, as modern men and women feel the same call to service that their ancestors felt long ago. Also, as more individuals explore the notion that healing necessarily involves the soul as well as the physical self, people are consulting shamans in their search for wellness, wisdom, and guidance.

The word shaman literally means “he or she who knows.” Shamanism is an art that has not changed in any quantifiable way for millennia and is not bound to any particular form of spirituality. It is grounded on the principle that the visible world is saturated with unseen forces that influence the lives of human beings. Shamans, in addition to acting as fonts of wisdom, are dedicated to diagnosing and curing human suffering–whether emotional, physical, or spiritual. To treat an illness, a shaman may communicate with the spirit world in order to connect more directly with the soul of their patient or with the force causing ill health. They often work closely with animal guides, plant and earth spirits, or your spirit guides, and may make use of use of herbal remedies to supplement other forms of treatment. Shamans, as intermediaries between the physical and spiritual realms, recognize that all objects are in manner alive and retain information that can be utilized to heal.

Shamanism is powerful in part because its practitioners tailor healing to the individual needs of those who seek them out. A shaman manipulates energy, giving you power where you have lost it and removing misplaced energy lurking within you. When you seek out a shaman, they will endeavor to know and understand you before treating you. In this way, they can provide you with therapies that act on your whole being, positively influencing your body as well as your soul.

We’re All in the Same Boat
By Madisyn Taylor

We are all on this earth together learning and teaching together in many different ways.
We’re all in the same boat. We just have different paddles, and perhaps we find ourselves on different rivers. We all live in human bodies. These are the vehicles in which we move through our world. We are all made of flesh, blood, and bone, with brains, hearts, and lungs to power us. Our paddles–the tools we use to move through the world–vary, as do the bodies of water–the environments–in which we find ourselves.

Some of us use our high IQs to get where we want to go. Some of use our smiles, others use kindness, a gift with language, or athletic ability. Some of these qualities we were born with and others are skills we have learned. Considering this metaphor in light of your own life can be very enlightening. What tools are you using to get from point A to point B in your life? Chances are, you and the people you know have used many different tools in various combinations throughout your lives to get where you needed to go. Just as with oars or paddles, a balanced approach is best. If you rely too much on one thing, like beauty, to open doors, you fail to be well-rounded and you may eventually lose your equilibrium. And if you lose that one quality, you have no paddle at all. This is inspiration to develop multiple tools to navigate your world.

Some of us may be moving along paths that are like rushing rivers; others may be on a large, still lake. We have all felt, at one time or another, tossed about on a stormy ocean. Through all this, we are never really alone, even though it might seem that way. There is inspiration all around us in the form of other people making their way through the world, in the very same boat. Remember to look around you for role models, companionship, and encouragement.

Aries
Personal theme: I am!!
Fire & cardinal sign: March 21 — April 19

Your horoscope for this week:

Since early June you`ve faced situations involving family, domestic or work issues. Some were complicated, others merely needed your attention; but each has taken time. So you`ll be delighted that as this cycles ends, you`ll finally have time to focus on life`s joys. This is partly about relaxing and catching up with loved ones but, as much, about dealing with exciting if unsettling events.

You`re a virtual love magnet. If you are single, you`ll have your choice of admirers. Pick the one who makes you laugh. Are you already in a relationship? This is a great time to plan a vacation with your amour. Visiting a destination with a dash of glamour is strongly advised. If you have to take time off work, notify your employer as soon as possible. Your boss will try to make you feel guilty about going away. Ignore their complaints and keep smiling.

Your ruling planet Mars, the so-called `red` planet, has now arrived in the creative zone of your solar chart. You can think of this as your personal research and development area. Next Thursday the planet aligns with the Sun in this area for the first time in 15 years. You could view this as a major refuelling moment. It would be understandable if before then you felt that your energy levels were low and that there was no fuel left in your tank. Rest assured though that after the conjunction, the potential for firing on all cylinders exists. It might be as well to carry a notebook with you from Monday and to jot down ideas. Don`t rely on your memory. It`s not that there`s anything necessarily wrong with your memory but that because ideas should come thick and fast you might not manage to entrap and engage them all. With the prospect of building excellent rapport with those who live far away or who work in a different field to your own also increasing, it would be as well to backup mobile phone numbers and other data. You will surely want to refer back to these in September and build on these exciting contacts.

Taurus
Personal theme: I have!!
Earth & fixed sign: April 20 — May 20

Your horoscope for this week:

Clearly, sudden changes in longstanding elements of your life, future plans, or both, are annoying. Yet between the current powerful planetary activity and August`s two eclipses, your own circumstances, those of others and the world around you will be shifting, and often. Unsettling as these seem, when you look back on this cycle you`ll recognise even disruptive events as the breakthroughs that they are.

Spending more time at home should be your first priority. Resting and relaxing with your favourite people will restore your equilibrium. It will be a huge relief to put your feet up and let your hair down. Money will be tight, so stick to a strict budget. If an income stream dries up, don`t panic. You`ll be able to make up for this loss in surprising ways. Achieving financial freedom is a matter of having belief in your abilities. Think about selling your artwork for a profit.

Mars, the red planet has now arrived at the very base of your solar chart. Think of this as the heat being turned up. Career matters should now have your full attention – even if you`re on holiday. It`s been 15 years since the Sun and Mars last held a meeting at the base of your solar chart. It may well be that you are overdue a review of your work-life balance and, in particular the manner in which you switch off and have good quality leisure time. Of course, it`s possible that a career route opened up a few weeks ago and that this offers a tantalising prospect of better times ahead. It would be understandable if you were all systems go. It might be as well though – and especially if you want to maintain harmony at home, – to confine career-planning to short and focused periods. Note too that there will be a solar eclipse in this area of your chart at the end of next month. Waiting until after then before you launch a new idea might be considered wise.

Gemini
Personal theme: I think!!
Air sign: May 21 — June 20

Your horoscope for this week:

Decisions about shifts in elements of your lifestyle are now pressing. You`ve been discussing this for ages. Finally you undertake these, to discover that what would have worked only recently no longer makes sense. Actually, that`s fine. For now, explore your options, knowing that as changes unfold over the coming weeks, your objectives will shift just as much as the actual circumstances you`re dealing with.

Your communication skills will attract favourable attention. A company will ask you to do create a promotional campaign or manage their social media page. Alternatively, you might get a sponsor for a podcast. Being paid to share your thoughts will be the answer a prayer. Your best friend or romantic partner will be threatened by your success. Don`t let their negative attitude keep you from pursuing success. You owe it to yourself to fulfil your potential.

It`s been 15 years since the Sun and Mars last formed a conjunction in Leo. As you might imagine, the alignment of the `red` planet with the Sun should turn up the heat for everyone. In your case, travel arrangements could be a major issue. It`s possible too that work being done in the neighbourhood, or by a colleague who is decidedly hot under the collar and excited about possibilities, will require you to adjust arrangements. Note that mid-week Mercury arrives in another of the Mutable signs, Virgo – and for an extended stay. This particular area of your solar chart accents domestic matters and everything related to assets. Whether or not you`re able to sell or release equity or even determine the value of property could be an issue. It might also be that you`ll feel the need to flit from one place to another even more than usual. It`s perhaps this trait that will make travel arrangements so high profile.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——- —— —– —- — — –

Cancer
Personal theme: I feel!!
Water & cardinal sign: June 21 — July 22

Your horoscope for this week:

For ages you`ve brushed aside issues that involve what you earn or own. Equally, this is about defining what`s owed to you, in terms of favours as much as funds. While in some cases a simple reminder will do, in a few you`ll need to make it clear you won`t back down. Also, state your expectations clearly, and ensure those involved realise you won`t be giving up.

A moneymaking venture will allow you to buy a few more luxuries than usual. Take this opportunity to splash out on new clothes. Shopping for antiques, artwork and jewellery will also be fun. If you`re looking for a job, it will be difficult to find a position worthy of your talent. You may be expected to work excessive hours for minimal pay. Instead of joining an exploitive company, it may be better to run your own enterprise, caring for pets, plants or children.

It might be as well to anticipate high expenses in the first couple of days of the week. Note though that from Wednesday, the cosmic weather changes. The arrival of Mercury in a sign in which it`s said to work well, and which touches the `neighbourhood` area of your solar chart, suggests relationships with close working colleagues, travelling partners and those on the same street are about to become more important. Indeed, you might well need this support. Obviously important for all signs is the alignment of the Sun with Mars in the sign of Leo: a conjunction that hasn`t taken place in this area of the zodiac for about 15 years. This, for you, could prove an exciting period. A strong possibility is that either working from home, or having work done at home will be uppermost in your mind. It would be as well to anticipate a busy period but one where you make fascinating contacts that develop into working partnerships after next month`s solar eclipse.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——- —— —– —- — — –

Leo
Personal theme: I will!!
Fire & fixed sign: July 23 — August 22

Your horoscope for this week:

After a period of enforced patience, the combination of the move by Mars and the Sun into Leo, and the Leo New Moon, all within days, brings a much-needed optimism to your world and life. Explore absolutely everything. Then make plans, but ensure whatever you organise is flexible. That enables you to accommodate the exciting ideas, offers and surprises that appear over the coming six weeks.

Your star power is burning brighter than ever. Don`t be shy about asking for what you want. This is the best time of the entire year to apply for work, ask someone out, promote a creative project or launch a business. Your success is virtually guaranteed. Leisure time will be at a premium. At times, you`ll wonder if all your diligence will pay off. Instead of envisioning the finish line, focus on taking one step at a time. You`ll be less overwhelmed.

Think back 15 years. That`s the last time that the Sun and Mars aligned in your sign. The cosmos generally doesn`t do repeats and certainly not within your lifetime: yet there may be similarities between that time and this. You could be energised and happy to self-promote. Almost exactly coinciding with this alignment, Mercury, the planet of communication arrives in neighbouring Virgo. It wouldn`t be at all surprising then if you were involved in the preparation of a document; perhaps to include either your CV or a short biography – though it`s perhaps as true that others will be asking questions about you and your expertise without recourse to these documents. Bear in mind that with both the solar Eclipse in your sign next month and the fact that Mercury will turn retrograde, it`s perhaps imperative that you check, double-check and even triple check anything you do set on paper. In fact, as others become aware of your diligence in this area it wouldn`t be so surprising if an interesting offer were to be made on Friday. It may be felt that you are now the perfect person for a team due to start work together in September.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——- —— —– —- — — –

Virgo
Personal theme: I analyse!!
Earth sign: August 23 — September 22

Your horoscope for this week:

It`s unlike you to back off and leave important decisions up to others; but as you`ll swiftly discover, you`ll either be short of facts or realise that, for strategic reasons, the less involved you are, the better. This gives you a chance to review certain arrangements that require time, discussion or some serious questioning. This also enables you to sidestep swiftly moving but tricky situations.

Retreating to a private hideaway will be therapeutic. When you escape the gimlet gaze of a micromanager, your creativity will soar. Take this opportunity to develop a writing, music or design project. Don`t show your work to critical relatives who have always disparaged your artistic instincts. Instead, seek out fellow artists for feedback. People who sympathise with your desire to make beautiful things will be more supportive and helpful.

Mercury arrives in your sign. This year it is there for an extended stay; and yes, that does mean that there will be a period when it turns retrograde. This shouldn`t be seen as a negative force; but an opportunity to assess, reassess, and double-check before moving forward. Slightly ahead of this ingress, Mars arrives in Leo: your neighbouring sign. Those of your sign are generally not good at pushing themselves forward. You`d perhaps prefer that others make contacts for you. However, presently you may need to make the first move. It might help to think back 15 years to how you coped with a similar period. It`s not that those same business relationships will resurface, but with a review of that earlier time, you could get better understanding of what you are now worth today. It wouldn`t be at all surprising if, before the end of July you`re asked to be involved in a pricing exercise. Valuations and estimates may be particularly important. Take your time with this exercise. There is a solar eclipse coming at the end of August and after that, and around your birthday, you could yet find even better deals.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——- —— —– —- — — –

Libra
Personal theme: I balance!!
Air & cardinal sign: September 23 — October 22

Your horoscope for this week:

You`ve been dealing with the events shaking things up for ages, and juggling various ideas and options, so are well aware things can`t be rushed; but others genuinely believe decisions are urgent. If they seek your advice, listen, ask what they think is best, then suggest they do exactly that. With ongoing changes, they`ll rethink plans several times before anything can be finalised.

Working with a team will be lots of fun. You`ll gain renewed energy from people who are intent on giving their best. You`ll give the project an element of refinement that elevates it from good to great. Negative feedback from a stuffy traditionalist should be ignored. Although you`re always open to constructive criticism, you shouldn`t fall victim to hostility. Focus on improving your skills without betraying your creative impulses. Be your own cheerleader.

Arguably the most important feature of the next seven days is the Sun`s alignment with Mars, – in Leo – for the first time in 15 years. This sector of the zodiac could be viewed as your networking department. At both the personal and business level your world should expand and at speed. Mid-week Mercury arrives in Virgo and for an extended stay. Putting the two factors together, it could be that contacts made, – and which are then used more fully in September, – could be assessed and a proper database made. It`s entirely possible that you will choose to launch something major in September which, built on this excellent administration, proves rewarding. Take time to listen carefully to advice offered by those who are either skilled at publicising or who are involved in publication or even both. It doesn`t usually take long for Air sign Libra to get excited. What`s important this time is that that excitement is underpinned by sound management.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——- —— —– —- — — –

Scorpio & Ophiuchus
Personal theme: I desire!!
Water & fixed signs: October 23 — November 21

Your horoscope for this week:

Being an intuitive Scorpio, you`ve long sensed there`d be shakeups in others` lives but, equally, you`ve hoped to bypass chaos in your own. While there`s no avoiding the cycle of change that begins now and continues with August`s two eclipses, you`ve a deep understanding these are prompting you to break away from familiar but restrictive situations. The sooner you let them go, the easier it will be.

You`ll command the spotlight, which is an uncomfortable sensation for you. It`s difficult for a private person to be on display. Pretending to play a role can help you endure this intense scrutiny. If you want a promotion, public office or a more prominent role, it`s time to go for it. It may be necessary to take a pay cut to professionally reposition yourself. Don`t worry too much about earning less money. The important thing is to do work that satisfies you.

From now, and through until the Full Moon in early September, Mars, the `red` planet, travels across the apex of your solar chart. It`s reasonable to expect that you will be all fired up. At the very least, ideas as to how you could develop and shine more within your career should come through thick and fast. That may be particularly true to the end of this week when the Sun and Mars align in Leo for the first time in 15 years. True, some of this might be prompted by financial considerations this weekend. It`s not unusual for the driver in developments to come through anger or determination. Yet it`s as likely that your particular skills have been `mentioned in dispatches`. It may be that you have the exact organisational skills and the network that could make all the difference to the smooth running of an organisation. Anticipate then that these could be a busy seven days. Even if away from your desk or on holiday, the cosmos could send messages that make sure you`re thinking about the coming year and all you could achieve.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——- —— —– —- — — –

Sagittarius
Personal theme: I see!!
Fire sign: November 22 — December 21

Your horoscope for this week:

It`s not until you encounter obstacles, in the form of seemingly impossible problems or individuals who refuse even to consider rethinking things, that you`ll pause and consider just how timely those changes are. While these difficulties may slow your pace, they`ll also force you to rethink longstanding priorities. The insights you gain aren`t just timely, they`ll lead to a major review of your goals and long range objectives.

Travelling overseas will be exciting and energising. You`re never happier than when you`re exploring unfamiliar territory. This is a great time to visit a city that is known for its glamour. Beware of discouraging a loved one from pursuing their dream. Although you think their chances of success are slim, that`s no reason to fill their head with doubt. By giving this friend your blessing, they`ll pour all their energy into realising their dream.

With Mars` entry to another of the Fire signs and then, mid-week Mercury`s arrival at the apex of your solar chart, your routine will most likely be thrown up in the air. The Sun and Mars meet in Leo for the first time in 15 years. This could prove most interesting period when you reconnect with those who share your passions and possibly, with whom you have experienced foreign adventure. Indeed, it`s possible that your world will expand. It would perhaps be as well to ensure that you are equipped to up-date your contact lists. It`s probable too, that there will be significant activity on the home front. Plans made by relatives may be very different to those that were expected earlier in the year and lead to you adjusting plans and even, perhaps, consider a move.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——- —— —– —- — — –

Capricorn
Personal theme: I use!!
Earth & cardinal sign: December 22 — January 19

Your horoscope for this week:

While, obviously, your objective is to rein in changes so they occur at a time and in a manner that suits you, the pace and intensity of events means you`ve little control over what`s taking place now or during August. However, seemingly disruptive events are really much needed breakthroughs, if in disguise. Explore everything. What seems least welcome initially could, ultimately, be exactly what`s needed.

Indulging your sensual side is important. You have a deep appreciation for luxury. Enjoying good food, enticing aromas, vivid colours, uplifting harmonies and rich materials will be a welcome change from working around the clock. Sneaking off to a quiet haven with your amour will be especially fulfilling. A hidden enemy will try to undermine your success, casting doubt on your work ethic. Don`t worry. Your accomplishments speak for themselves.

Mid-week Mercury arrives in another of the Earth signs, Virgo, and for an extended stay through until early September. Mercury is the planet of communication: everything from e-mail to actual travel. Over the next few weeks every day could feel quite different: maintaining routine probably won`t be easy. It might also be that you`re carrying information that is extremely valuable and that others feel they need regular access to you. Ensuring that those people have what they need will surely be imperative – particularly by the time the Sun aligns with Mars for the first time in Leo in 15 years. Indeed, it might help to think back to that earlier time and think carefully as to what you would have done differently had you known what the outcome was going to be. With the high probability now of working more closely with someone you haven`t teamed up with in a long time, this week could find you negotiating a career turning point with ease.

———— ———– ———- ——— ——– ——- —— —– —- — — –

Aquarius
Personal theme: I know!!
Air & fixed sign: January 20 — February 18

Your horoscope for this week:

You don`t think of yourself as somebody who plans ahead but, in reality, your knack for visualising how things will proceed means you rarely wrestle with organising things as others do. Yet even you could be thrown off balance now in the run up to the Aquarius eclipsed Full Moon on 7 August. The events it triggers raise questions about arrangements you`ve long regarded as unchanging.

A close relationship gives you a new lease on life. It feels great being with someone who appreciates your unique outlook. In the past, you were raked over the coals for being a visionary. That won`t happen now, when your visionary approach will be highly successful. Friends don`t approve of your romantic choice. They want you to settle down with someone who is more conventional. Thank them for your concern and keep following your heart.

Mars has now arrived in your opposite sign. As you might imagine, your perception may be that others are highly energised and expecting you to jump when they say so. That may be particularly true on Thursday when the Sun and Mars align in Leo for the first time in 15 years. True, you might welcome the opportunity to show off knowledge and expertise. Yet there is something contrarian about those born under your sign: it may be the case that you don`t like being pigeonholed and certainly won`t appreciate it if others have assumed your involvement and enthusiasm. It might seem to you that you`re being played with: especially by those born under either Aries or Libra. Either would probably be distressed to think that you felt this way. What`s perhaps important is to ensure that there are good lines of communication open and that information is not held back.

Pisces
Personal theme: I believe!!
Water sign: February 19 — March 20

Your horoscope for this week:

Listening to others complaining about disruptive changes and doing nothing seems unkind; but the fact is, those who`re battling the new or unfamiliar are also battling their own growth. Once you recognise that, you`ll encourage them to at least explore new developments and, more important, you`ll do so yourself. That`s because you, too, would benefit from rethinking, if not transforming, certain longstanding elements of your life.

Improving your daily life should be your first priority. If you`re not happy with your job, find one that`s more rewarding. Do you feel weak and tired? Take better care of your health. Have you been pouring all your energy into thankless tasks? Change your priorities. Doing something nice for yourself each day will lift your spirits and improve your outlook. An overbearing boss could prompt you to launch your own business. Working from home will be fun.

It probably won`t take much for you to feel the effects of Mercury`s arrival in your opposite sign mid-week. It is there for an extended stay too. As you might imagine, the planet of communication in your opposite sign suggests people might be talking at you but not necessarily listening. Bear in mind that as of last Friday, Mars changed sign and arrived in hugely theatrical Leo. Drama is in the air. Mid-week you might even wonder if you become the punch-bag for certain jokes. There is a prankster element to this that might take a couple of days to get used to. It might be as well to anticipate miscommunication at the very least. Yet it`s also possible that you`re about to be swept up by someone`s enthusiasm for a project designed to launch early next year. Given that your network may be expanding exponentially you might not know exactly which task to handle first. One useful task might be to empty a cupboard or briefcase and make sure that there is space for the new tasks headed your way.

About The Morning Feast and Goddessschool.com – The teachings here are based
on ordinary magick, the principle that the mundane and the Divine are not
separate, but peacefully coexist in all things. Know Mother Earth as the
ultimate healer, and learn to utilize her gifts of nature. Inside each woman
is a being of wisdom, deeply connected to the phases of the moon and the
tides of the sea. All we need to do is trust our innate wisdom.
