Celebrate Yourself!
Spell Date: Sunday, April 9, 2017

V-I-C-T-O-R-Y, victory, victory is our cry!

When I was a young cheerleader, this was a favorite cheer for our local football team.

The use of palm fronds symbolizing victory is rooted in the history of the Olympic Games. Victors were awarded palm fronds as a symbol of victory in their chosen athletic competition. Today is Palm Sunday, when the fronds from the palm plant are used to symbolize victory and everlasting life. Use the power of this day to work your magick. Celebrate a recent victory or visualize overcoming a challenging situation.

Print or draw a picture of a palm frond. Then write down your achievement, or that which you seek to overcome, across your picture.

Turn the paper ninety degrees and write the word Victory across your words nine times. Fold the paper toward you. Bury it in your backyard or in a pretty flowerpot.

Elk Medicine Spell
Spell Date: Saturday, April 8, 2017

To ensure hunting success this autumn, mentally prepare your awareness while the sun is in the sign of Aries. Make a spiritual connection to your hunting grounds and to the elk herd as it welcomes a new generation this spring.

Fill and stitch closed a handsewn leather pouch containing the following items:

* One elk tooth ( procured from an ethical hunt)
* 2-inch patch of elk hide with fur intact ( procured from an ethical hunt)
* Two 4-inch sections of cut elk bone ( procured from an ethical hunt)
* 1 smoky quartz
* Pinch of wild grass
* 8 dried resins
* Pinch of sage
* Pinch of sweetgrass

Place this medicine bag at the entrance of your hunting trail for seventy- two hours. When you retrieve it, burn sage and sweetgrass to the spirits. Offer your prayers to the ancestors and ask for permission to fill your tag quota. On the way home, frequently stop to adore and photograph the land that you will hunt on. Collect any rubbish you encounter to engage your guardianship of the land.

An April Love Spell
Spell Date: Friday, April 7, 2017

April and love seem to go together. It’s spring, the world is fresh, and love is in the air. If you’re searching for a mate, try this love spell.

You’ll need some pink fabric, two red candles with holders, and a pink ribbon. Cover a table or an altar with the fabric. Place the candles before you in the holders and light them. Then gaze at the flames and speak this charm:

“Fire, fire, gift of the sun, Bring me that special one. Candles of red, burning together, Bring me a love that will last forever.”

Let the candles burn awhile, then gently snuff them out. When the wicks are cool, remove the candles from their holders and tie them together with the pink ribbon. Hide them in a safe place and forget about them.

Prosperity Hex
Spell Date: Thursday, April 6, 2017

This little prosperity bag would be ideal to carry in your purse, briefcase, or backpack or to stash wherever else you might carry money. Or pop it in a cash drawer for added business success.

You will need:
* An 8-inch circle of plaid printed flannel containing the color green
* A gold ribbon
* 4 whole coffee beans
* 1 teaspoon mustard seed
* 9 whole cloves
* A dollar coin
* 1 small magnet or 2 small pieces of hematite
* A gold candle

Place all of the ingredients in the middle of the fabric and tie shut with the ribbon. On your altar, light the gold candle. Holding the hex bag in your hands, envision it enveloped within the energy of your intent and recite the following:

“Money I need and money I’ll have, for you will bring money to me.”

Gold coins can be gotten at the bank, and you can check the birthday candles for inexpensive gold ones. Don’t make your own coffee? Find a grocery store that lets you bag your own from their bulk containers and buy only a small amount.

Help From Mercury (Hermes)
Spell Date: Wednesday, April 5, 2017

The Roman Mercury (Greek Hermes, Norse Odin or Wotan), who rules Wednesday, is the god of communication, merchants, travel, and thieves. (Forget about that last one.) The planet he rules runs faster around the sun than any of his sister or brother planets. In astrology, as the messenger of the gods, Mercury rules both Gemini (talkative folks) and Virgo (detail-oriented folks). He is also known to be a wise and crafty counselor.

Wednesday is thus a good day to ask for Mercury’s help and/or blessings if you’re engaged in any project involving communication, selling, or travel. Start with this invocation:

“Great, swift-footed Mercury, fly to me and lend me your winged cap and winged sandals so that I may think more quickly and more clearly and move my project along more quickly.”

Now explain your situation to Mercury and ask for his help or blessing.

Simple Stone Divination
Spell Date: Tuesday, April 4, 2017

As the days begin to grow longer and with spring finally here, it is natural to wonder what the coming year will hold. One very simple form of divination requires nothing more than a clear area outside where there are plenty of rocks or stones. Close your eyes and concentrate on what you wish to know, then ask the gods to send you a message. Say:

“In a rock let me see what my future path will be.”

Then carefully walk backward until you get the feeling you should stop. Look down and find the nearest stone. Examine it for shapes and symbols that might reveal something about your future. There might be a heart or something that looks like a coin. Put the rock on your altar and look at it periodically to see if you can discern something new as time goes by.

Help Me Heal
Spell Date: Monday, April 3, 2017

Healing can be hard. Whether it’s a physical injury or an emotional imbalance, it’s not easy. Add to it the stress of everyday life, and we can end up not knowing what to do next.

Medical professionals have access to all kinds of resources. They will help you if you ask them and they will see you through to the finish. Trust these people to help you with the right decisions and directions.

Life is always a mix of the mundane and the magical. As with all things, we can ask the powers that be to direct us to the right people for the help we need. Asclepius is the god of medicine and can be called upon for extra healing help. Ask for the right person to walk with you as you heal.

And be sure to ask for blessings on the people who help you.

Heartwings Love Notes 761 Easter time Remembrances

Heartwings says, “Memories glow in the cycle of time when the time comes around again.”

While I certainly have some happy Easter memories I also have one that is not so. However, it is still vivid in my mind even after the many years filled with all the things I surely have forgotten. This was during World War II. My parents kept chickens, both for eggs and for food. We had quite a large flock of hens and, as I recall a rooster or two. There were times when they laid many more eggs than we needed. As anyone who has kept them will know, chickens lay in cycles, sometimes more eggs sometimes less. When we had overage, my parents would sell the eggs to friends and acquaintances.

This particular Easter I might have been eight or ten. My parents had so many eggs they decided to have an Easter egg hunt. All of their friends and most of their acquaintances had children so there were plenty of guests anticipated. The adults would have cocktail, while the children hunted for eggs. The person who found the most got a prize. While they hid them, I was to stay in my room so I would not see where they were. Later they decided I ought not to participate because it was up to the guests to find the eggs.

Fast forward to a happy memory: Once my oldest daughters were grown enough to know about the Easter bunny they decided there ought to be one for the parents. Their father and I hid candy eggs for them and their siblings in various places in the house. They in turn spent their own money for candy eggs for us and hid them in the kitchen, having they told us it was off limits for us to use to hide eggs. Their great delight was a joy to our hearts, and what fun we had uncovering the treasures the Parent Easter bunny had provided.

Holidays often trigger memories of days gone by. These can be a treasure to hold and caress, most especially if they concern those who have passed on from this life. If there is sadness for us in them, perhaps it can be tempered by the happiness of our recollections. The most precious memories are those that remain for us to recount and perhaps to share with those who come after us. I once recorded my father on tape telling me about the chickens he had as a boy. There were only a few and they didn’t last long. Perhaps they were the inspiration for the ones he had as an adult that laid the eggs I remember so well.

May your remembered joys temper any sadness that the memories.

Blessings and Best Regards, Tasha Halpert

Please feel free to share any memories you may have of times past. I love to hear from readers and will be so happy to respond.

Stephen Halpert
Domestic Tranquility: St. Francis To The Rescue

“Oh no!” Tasha exclaimed. I rushed out the kitchen door of our home on Warren Street. Our porch looked like the remains of the OK Coral after Doc Holiday and the Earp brothers had sent the Clampets gang to Kingdom come. Several flowerpots were overturned. Potting soil had been kicked off the small table. In their pot the baby Boston lettuce huddled close to the Egyptian onions.
“Now I have a slight hint what people in the mid east face every morning.”
“They’re angry.” Tasha frowned. “There’s no telling where this could lead. Maybe they’re reacting to the cayenne I put over the birdseed in the feeder.”
“Who?’
“The squirrels.” She went to the railing and began to put small defenseless plants back into their pots.
“You mean Butch and Sundance?” I thought about our decimated tomato plants, walked over to the large square green planter and was surprised to see that even more soil had been kicked out.
“Probably. When our neighbor helped me reposition the birdfeeder I put some cayenne into it. Cayenne discourages squirrels and chipmunks, but birds don’t mind it.” She paused and looked at me. “But it’s not just us.”
“What do you mean?”
” I’ll email you an article I read. I think 2014 might go down in history as the summer of the angry squirrels.”
” And it isn’t even the end of April.” I swept up more soil and returned it to the planter. “The forces of nature,” I said remembering the images I’d seen of flood soaked Iowa. “Have you noticed how one natural disaster follows on the heels of another?”
She looked over the railing at the trees to the side of our porch. “I do think the squirrels are trying to tell us something.”
“All the development and building might have something to do with why they’re so upset.”
“No doubt. Creatures are being driven out of their habitat. Where can they find new homes?”
“It’s not like they can buy condos in Worcester.” I went in and returned with two small pots of Hens and Chickens. Then I started back inside.
“Where are you going?”
“Reinforcements.” I headed into the living room and picked up our statue of St Francis. I went back out to the porch. “I’m going to place him out here where he can do the most good.”
“Do you think that will make a difference?”
“I think doing this makes more sense than using deadly chemicals.”
She patted soil back onto several other decimated plants. “I’d never use them anyway.”
I looked at the statue of St. Francis. “Ok friend, hopefully you can help. What we need around here is some kind of miracle. I wonder how Thicht Nhat Hahn would handle this? Would he simply smile, breathe peacefully and leave sliced tomatoes out for them? But wouldn’t acting that way be reinforcing negative behavior?”
“You could think of it that way, but if the ultimate result was peace…”
We went back inside and Tasha began making lunch. “Look,” she pointed, “the squirrels are getting some food from the squirrel proof feeder.”
I watched as Butch and Sundance pried at the tiny openings on the sides. I saw how they persisted even though it was obvious that the cayenne was having some effect. “You have to admire them,” I said as we watched their antics.
Next morning more soil had been kicked out of the nasturtiums. One clump even lay defiantly on St Francis’s feet. I swept him off. Maybe Butch and Sundance had drawn their line in the sand. They had managed to eat some, though not much of the birdfood.
Tasha sighed. “These things take time, we’ll just have to wait and see.”
“What do you suppose is happening? Might St Francis be negotiating peace in our times with the Squirrel Deva? Think he might be using a Papal Bull to help get his point across? Or maybe he and the Goddess took Mother Nature to lunch and they’re working on some vast ecumenical decree promoting neutrality for all tomato plants worldwide.”
“Somehow I don’t think that that’s quite the way it works,” she giggled.”
“Personally I think negotiations over lunch make the most sense, Especially when it’s way warm outside and the restaurant happens to be air conditioned.”
“I think anyone might have their hands full these days trying to smooth over troubled waters with Mother Nature. Personally I think she’s sending us an important message.”
“So why are the squirrels picking on us? We recycle. We don’t support excessive development or off shore oil drilling.”
Tasha shrugged. We went back inside and I started putting away dishes from breakfast. “Personally I think they’re hungry and that their food supply is in short demand.”
“The squirrels?”
She nodded. “Maybe schoolchildren could have projects whereby they would leave food outside for all the creatures, not just birds. That way as they relocate their nests and boroughs they could store a better food supply. That might calm things down.”
“Why don’t we leave peanut butter and jelly sandwiches out on the porch and see what happens?”
She smiled. “Or a salad with lettuce and tomatoes. That might be more to the point.”
Several days later the plants were as we had left them. The little buds had started to open. Hopefully St Francis had negotiated a lasting peace; only time would tell.

CRYSTALS FOR YOUR PLANTS
by Crooked Bear Creek Organic Herbs

The integration of crystals alongside nature’s bounty can be a wonderful benefit for growth and regeneration.

By placing these minerals at the base of any plant or burying them alongside your vegetables, they can bring an added sense of encouragement and even spirituality to your hard work.

Minerals Used In The Garden

Agate (Moss): is a transparent stone that has inclusions of minerals that make it look like the stone has foliage in its matrix. This pretty stones can make a decorative border around any plant or flower bed.

Boji Stones are actually a registered trademark of stones discovered in Colorado. The appear smooth on one side (female) while others have a small protrusion on one side (male). These pair of stones are many composed of pyrite and palladium and have been used to facilitate growth and encourage telecommunication between plants.

Cerussite is a mineral, which occasionally resembles trees branching out with icicles. This stone has been used in gardens and work fields to assist in relieving infestation. It can be used to energize and protect house plants.

Daphnite: has been used by agricultural associations, farmers, and growers of herbs, plants, and flowers as the stone of transformation and transmutation. It appears to facilitate the communication with the plant world in order to enhance gardens, terrariums, and crops of any kind.

Fossils are the organic materials that have turned to stone. Minerals incorporate into the cellular structures of animals, bones, insects, shells and wood, filling in the spaces and are often found with inclusions of other plants or animals. Fossils are a stamp from the past that can be used to adorn any garden, indoor/outdoor potted plants. Their high mineral content is said to supplement any type of plantings.

Quartz: is considered solidified light and oxygen. Quartz encompasses a large family of stones and crystals, all of which are made up primarily of silicon dioxide, one of the most common and most important substances in the world. This mineral is found over 2/3 of the earth and can be used in many ways throughout your garden. Create beautiful borders.
Bury a few quartz points facing upward next to your potted plants. Lay some clear quartz tumbled stones alongside your flower garden. Use an elixir (see below) of quartz and water your plants with them. Make a crystal grid (see below) around your field or plant beds to encourage growth, harmony, and transform energy.

Sphene: is a mineral that grows in plate-like or wedge-shaped form and has been used in grids (see below) to encourage growth.

Tourmaline (Green): is a healing stone that some gem healers consider the strongest of all green stones. It is used to help achieve balance in all areas. Botanists, herbalists, farmers and gardeners have all used this stone to increase the effectiveness of a herb’s healing properties. Green tourmaline is said to hold the “essence of the plant kingdom” within it and is used to conduct energy between the earth and the plants for smoother transitions during growth.

Creating A Garden Grid
A ‘Grid’ is a way to arrange the stones in a sacred geometric pattern. They are then consciously ‘activated’ by connecting a ‘line of Light’ between the stones so that they radiate an energy field in the immediate environment in which they are constructed.
Those of you who are sensitive to energy will be able to tell immediately that there is a shift of energy in the area where you construct a Grid. Depending on which stones you choose, there will either be a gentle shift… or a very tangible one.

Creating a Sacred Space:
We live and work in a variety of environments. Many of these environments have a specific function to fulfill that can be consciously and energetically supported. The current attention on Feng Shui and similar ‘getting the energy in the room just right’ techniques have shown that we, as a society, are becoming more aware of how our immediate spaces can either be harmonious or disharmonious to our goals.

Constructing a Crystalline Grid in your garden or an environment that supports the function of the area is yet another way to contribute to the overall energy flow.

You may add a Grid that supports harmony in your garden or general feelings of love and comfort. There are no right or wrongs. Choose the space. Familiarizing yourself with the various metaphysical properties of minerals can be very helpful to you as you make your choices.

You can get a nice list of stones you may want to use and then use a pendulum to figure out which ones would be the most effective for you.

The first thing to do is develop clear intent of the purpose of your grid.

Hold your crystals in your hands at heart level. Say a prayer of intention or affirmation that will program these stones to work their highest good for your garden.

Place them in a formation. Consider using sacred symbols around your plant or garden such as a star, a circle, a cross or a square. Save one crystal before placing it into the earth.

To connect the grid lines start by pointing the last crystal toward the first stone you laid down. Holding it a few inches above the grid, draw a line of energy, that connects each crystal you have laid out. Once you have traced these energy lines over your stones, plant the last crystal in your hand into the earth.

Making Crystal Elixirs
Crystal concoctions or elixirs are the recipes of the past. It is recommended to place clean stones or crystals into clean, clear distilled water and place it in the morning sun through the day and into the night of a full moon for 24 hours.

This allows the (male) sun energy and (female) moon energy to reflect through the water and into the crystals, therefore, charging the water with this vibrational force of light and color.

After 24 hours, place this elixir into a dark glass bottle and use it to water your plants, flowers, and vegetables.

Quartz crystals such as clear rose, amethyst, citrine and smokey all respond very favorably to a water and light remedy method. They also offer a complete light spectrum within them. The best for healing.

Top 10 Ways To Make A Crystal Garden
1. Choose crystals that will work for your appropriate situation.
2. Choose crystals you are drawn to.
3. Program crystals to their greatest and highest good
4. Place in a grid around plants, shrubs, and trees.
5. Plant elixir water can be used to enrich your garden.
6. Use crystals as a border around your plants or herbs.
7. Blend sand (high in quartz crystal content) with potting soil.
7. Invoke the elements by coordinating your garden with crystals associated with each season and direction.
8. Enhance plant food with crystals by placing them in the food 24 hours before use.
9. Cut flowers and potted plants make great gifts. Include one of your garden crystals with the gift.
10. Enjoy the work you have created.

Simple Candle Magic for New Spring Beginnings

Spring is a wonderful time of year for new beginnings, however when you to start a new beginning in your life, you must release old habits, and let go of people or ways that are no longer working for you – it is all too easy to fall back into old habits and this simple candle spell is a great way to focus the mind and set intentions. Candle magic is one of the oldest forms of folk magic and can be found in many cultures, we still blow out the candles on a birthday cake and make a wish. This little ritual is just an extension of that sentiment.

A new beginning can be applied in any area of your life. So before starting with this ritual, reflect on the ways and recognize the people who you feel are preventing you from growing. Make a commitment to make room for new thoughts, attitudes, and new people in your life. Find out in what aspect you want to grow or change. Do you want to grow spiritually, emotionally, physically or intellectually? Once you have established that, you are then ready to do the ritual.

One of the best times to do a ritual for new beginnings is during the Waxing Moon – when the moon is growing bigger, and also at the start of the year when the Sun is growing stronger – all around you can see and feel the evidence of new life emerging so this is an opportune time. For me, natural magic is just connecting the mind with the natural flows of nature to bring outcomes. You can let go of old ways the same way you let go of the days that have passed. Here is a New Beginnings ritual to let go of the past that is holding you back, give thanks for what you have in your life, make room for great and positive things, and steer your life towards the direction you want.

What you will need;

Any incense with cleansing properties
A white candle
A bowl
Water
Time

Method;

Find a quiet place where you can sit and be comfortable – outside in a sheltered corner would be idea, this will also connect you will the earth energies.

Visualise all your hopes, desires and dreams and feel the hope and excitement building up inside you.

Light the incense, let if fill the air and let any negativity leave you and your surroundings. Imagine the smoke as cleansing. This represents the element of Air.

Light the candle and imagine the flame burning away any negativity, fears and stress. As you light it, think of everything that you have been through in the past year. Focus on releasing baggage and issues that you consciously and unconsciously carry. This represent the element of fire.

You should leave the candle burning till the end of the ritual.

Take the bowl and fill it with water. I also like to swirl some herbs around in the water, or even some pretty flowers will do. Visualise the purifying quality to water, but also its strength, its determination and its power.

Take a sip of the water and pay close attention to how it makes your body feel. Feel its cleansing, reviving, and energizing powers.

To close the ritual, say thanks to the elements for their presence and assistance.
Allow yourself to feel hope, happiness, and gratitude. Hold on to the feelings as long as you can, and take them with you as you embark on a new beginning.

Dark Night of the Soul
By Madisyn Taylor

While we are in a dark night of the soul experience, hold steady knowing the light will appear once again.
Whenever a word is overused, it is most likely being misused, and over time, it begins to lose its meaningfulness. For example, we often refer to a fleeting feeling of depression or a period of confusion, as a dark night of the soul, but neither of these things qualifies as such. A dark night of the soul is a very specific experience that some people encounter on their spiritual journeys. There are people who never encounter a dark night of the soul, but others must endure this as part of the process of breaking through to the dawn of higher consciousness.

The dark night of the soul invites us to fully recognize the confines of our egos’ identity. We may feel as if we are trapped in a prison that affords us no access to light or the outside. We are coming from a place of higher knowing, and we may have spent a lot of time and energy reaching toward the light of higher consciousness. This is why the dark night has such a quality of despair: We are suddenly shut off from what we thought we had realized and the emotional pain is very real. We may even begin to feel that it was all an illusion and that we are lost forever in this darkness. The more we struggle, the darker things get, until finally we surrender to our not knowing what to do, how to think, where to turn. It is from this place of losing our sense of ourselves as in control that the ego begins to crack or soften and the possibility of light entering becomes real.

Some of us will have to endure this process only once in our lives, while others may have to go through it many times. The great revelation of the dark night is the releasing of our old, false identity. We finally give up believing in this false self and thus become capable of owning and embracing the light.

* 1 smoky quartz
* Pinch of wild grass
* 8 dried resins
* Pinch of sage
* Pinch of sweetgrass

* An 8-inch circle of plaidprinted flannel containing the color green
* A gold ribbon
* 4 whole coffee beans
* 1 teaspoon mustard seed
* 9 whole cloves
* A dollar coin
* 1 small magnet or 2 small pieces of hematite
* A gold candle

What you will need;

Any incense with cleansing properties
A white candle
A bowl
Water
Time

Method;
