Honoring the Goddess Every Day at!

Upon the ferment of restless seas
You were born;
motherless, fatherless,
primordial as the sea.
Your realm is of pleasure and
the moment –ephemeral;
Your anger quick as a
summer storm and as quickly spent.
In loveliness of spirit all may
share in Your delight–
the Mystery is the ever loving Self–
fathomless, transient…
Your flame burns bright in those
who love You–
Your rituals endure.

The silence of the dawn, and how it speaks to you.

Daily Affirmation
In the Name of the Maiden: I will wear bright colors and think of myself as part of Your rainbow.

In many different traditions lighting a candle is a sacred action. It expresses more than words can express. It has to do with gratefulness. From time immemorial, people have lit candles in sacred places. You may want to begin or end your day by the sacred ritual of lighting a candle on this gratefulness. Or you may want to light a birthday candle for a friend. One single guideline is all you need: Slow down and do it with full attention.

Monday – Day of Emotions ( Day of the Moon )

Monday Magick Power Hours:

Moonrise. Key Words: Magick, dreams, health, love, home and family In the word Monday, we can see part of the word Moon. In the romance languages such as Italian or Spanish, this day of the week is called Lunes and clearly relates to the word lunar. On Mondays, a variety of magick may be worked.

Because Monday centers on the energies of the Moon, things like psychism, dreams, feminine energy, health, success in spiritual pursuits, domestic matters, and things of family origin are especially important this day.

Mondays are best for love magick and anything concerning home or family, thus old saying, Mondays child is fair of face, which seems clearly to relate to the themes of love and health.

Angels of Monday are Gabriel, Arcan, Missabu, and Abuzaha. Arcan is known as the king of the angels of air and the “ruler” of Monday. Abuzaha (Abuzohar) serves Monday, and is very responsive to invocations and ritual magick. Missabu is a ministering angel of Arcan.

Monday is the Best Day For: Conjurations, Predictions, Knowledge, Writing, Eloquence. Planetary Association: Moon Norse Deity Associated With the Day: Frigga Origin of Name: “Monday” is short for “Moon Day” in honor of the day’s alignment with that planetary body.

Seasons of the Witch – Legends and Lore, Ancient Holidays
And Some Not So Ancient!

Today Is …

Night of the Shooting Stars. Make a wish each time you see one in the night sky.

Egypt/Kemet: The Opet Festival continued in Egypt on this day, when the statue of Amun was ferried in a procession from the temple at Karnak to Luxor.

“India: Festival of Yashodhara”: Yashodhara, wife of the Buddha, was born on this date 600 b.c.

Nepal: Ghanta Karna Day ~  A centuries-old festival called Ghanta Karna Day is celebrated annually around this time of August in the Himalayan kingdom of Nepal. The event celebrates the death of Ghanta Karna, a blood thirsty Hindu demon who haunts crossroads and is the sworn enemy of the God Vishnu.

August 10-12 –  Puck Fair – A three-day festival held in the little village of Killorglin in County Kerry. On the evening of the first day, Gathering Day, a white puck (from the Gaelic poc, a male goat), his horns bedecked with ribbons and rosettes, is borne in triumph in a lorry to a platform in the square. The Foley family is charged with the task of caring for the goat, which includes feeding him cabbages. On the following day, Puck’s Fair Day, the decorated King presides over a great cattle, horse and sheep fair. On the final day, Scattering Day or Children’s Day, the goat-king is dethroned by a throng of excited children. Accompanied by pipers, he is processed through town and over the bridge, whereupon he is turned loose. Or, according to MacNeill, he is carried around on the shoulders of four men, while the shopkeepers contribute to his upkeep, then auctioned off.

This fair was once a Lammas Fair as indicated by a patent from 1613 that gives the proprietor the right “to hold a faire in Killorglin on Lammas Day and the day after.” When the calendar was changed in 1752, it included an exemption for fairs stating that they might continue to be held on the natural day of the year to which people were accustomed.

Although it is tempting to see the goat as evidence of an ancient pagan rite, MacNeill develops a convincing argument that it was a rather late development, perhaps first appearing in the 18th century, and influenced by English fair customs.
MacNeill, Maire, The Festival of Lughnasa, Oxford University Press 1962

Wiltshire, England –  TAN HILL FAIR is held on the highest peak of Wiltshire Downs, miles from any town, a survival from ancient times. Salt beef & beans eaten.

The first season is of a frigid complexion, and this is “Winter”;

Then follows the third, which is “Summer”, and is of the complexion of Fire;
Lastly, there is the fourth, wherein fruits are matured, which is “Autumn”.

Today’s Goddess:  Zhinu
Seven Sisters Festival (China)

Themes:  Love; Relationships; Unity; Devotion; Divination
Symbols:  Stars; Silver Items

About Zhinu: Zhinu is a stellar Goddess in China, residing in the constellation of Lyre, a home from which she tends to harmony within relationships.  According to legend, Zhinu came to earth to bath with six friends, but a herdsman stole her dress.  She could not return to the heavens this way, so she married him.  Later, however, the Gods called her back to the stars, and the herdsman followed her.  On the seventh day of the seventh moon, the two are allowed to meet as husband and wife.

To Do Today:  A similar celebration to the Seven Sisters Festival is the Weaving Festival in Japan (July 7),
which commemorates the love between two stellar deities who meet in the silver river of the Milky Way one
day out of the year. Follow with custom and cover your altar with rice and melons, both of which can become
offerings.  Eat these as part of a meal later to internalize Zhinu’s love and devotion.  If you’re single, offer her
combs, mirrors, and paper flowers to draw a partner into your life.

Burning incense and reading one’s future is also common today.  Watch the smoke from the incense
while thinking about a specific relationship.  See if any shapes form in the clouds.  A heart, for example,
indicates adoration.  A scale reveals a relationship with a healthy balance, and two interconnected rings
indicate unity of mind and soul.

Healing Arts and Pagan Studies – Dragon Day Spell

Today is the day to use dragon energy. Dragon energy is straightforward, so be careful for what you ask. You will receive it in the most direct way. Be very specific. Dragon logic is not human logic. Dragon moves from A to B, and simply removes anything in its way. For example: an acquaintance asked Dragon, without going into specifics, to change her living situation. As a result, a few days later there was a fire in her apartment building, and she was left without a place to live. That’s a change, but it was not the one she wanted! Dragon energy is great for removing blocks, but only use it when you are determined to make a change.

Using Dragon energy when you fear change will backfire on you. Pick something in your life that you wish to unblock. Find an image of a dragon that you feel connected to. Decorate your altar using bright colors and shiny, sparkly accessories. Cast a circle. Invite Dragon energy to join you in the ritual. Discuss the situation thoroughly with Dragon; consider the options, and request Dragon’s help in a way that will harm none. Ground and close the circle. You should feel energized at the end of the ritual. Dragon energy usually works quickly and in unexpected ways, so be aware of everything around you—as rapid change is on its way.

“The Goddess Companion”
Love is awake in me whatever the season.
Love is a north wind, cold and sharp.
Love is a night on fire with lightning.
Love is shameless. violent, heart-rending.
Love is the madness sent by the Goddess.
~Sicilian Greek Poet Ibykos, Sixth Century B.C.E.

Humans are rare among mammals in that we are always ready for love. Unlike our animal relatives, human females do not have special seasons of estrus. Scientists speculate about why this distinction came about, some believing that the length of time a human baby must be nurtured gave rise to a need to bond us more tightly together. And sexual pleasure is, indeed, a great and compelling bond.

This human biological trait is both a blessing and a curse. It is a blessing, because we are able to bond with each other beyond the sheer physical need for release. But love can also feel like a curse, as the poet Ibykos reminds us, because it opens up to change. Love can overturn our lives as easily as a child overturns a wagon of toys, which is why we love the Goddess’ child, Eros or Cupid, is pictured as so wanton and careless of our lives. Yet without its beauty, what would our lives be worth?

About The Morning Feast and – The teachings here are based on ordinary magick, the principle that the mundane and the Divine are not separate, but peacefully coexist in all things. Know Mother Earth as the ultimate healer, and learn to utilize her gifts of nature. Inside each woman is a being of wisdom, deeply connected to the phases of the moon and the tides of the sea.
