GrannyMoon*s Morning Feast ~ 9 July 15

Honoring the Goddess Every Day at!

Two images of the One:
Queen of the Underworld.
Gatherer of souls;
Maiden of the Light and
Bringer of unceasing joy–
death and innocence lying in
perpetual juxtaposition
like the meeting of night and day
or the burden of flesh
intertwining with pale spirit.
Your power is double edged and terrible;
both describe dangers for the unwary,
both beckon with delights indescribable.
Acquiesce to one and the other stands revealed.
To live is to embrace You both.

The many hues of the morning sun; what do
the colors remind you of?

Daily Affirmations
In the Name of the Maiden: I will remember to smile.

Closing Prayer
Thanks to Thee Bright Maiden for Thy care,
for Thy green laughter and fire-edged dew and
for Thy blessing, a most precious jewel.

In many different traditions lighting a candle is a sacred action. It expresses more than words can express. It has to do with gratefulness. From time immemorial, people have lit candles in sacred places. You may want to begin or end your day by the sacred ritual of lighting a candle on this gratefulness. Or you may want to light a birthday candle for a friend. One single guideline is all you need: Slow down and do it with full attention.

Today’s Goddesses: Juno, Hera, Kwan Yin, Mary, Cybele, Tara, Mawu, Mlaba Mwana Waresa, Ishtar, Nuit

Thursday’s child has far to go.

Thursday – A day for religious and political rituals. Dress in purple and use tin or emeralds. Wear sapphire, cat’s eye, or carnelian. Use sapphire in rituals.

Thursday’s Angel is Sachiel. Sachiel sort of surfs the days of the week, and in various texts can be found in the Monday, Thursday, or Friday categories. He presides over the planet Jupiter. Invoke him from the south. On Thursdays, the hour of sunrise and every eight hours after that are also ruled by Jupiter, and that makes these times of the day doubly blessed. Keep in mind, that Jupiter magick always makes more of whatever you have. So if you have nothing, this is not the best energy to work with.

Thursday is a YANG or male energy ruled by Jupiter, the planet of abundance and luck. The colors are royal purple and royal Blue. This day has the energies of luck, growth, expansion, generosity, male fertility, olden men, masculine side of the female, legal matters, health, honor, wealth, clothing, desires, men’s professions and spiritual attainment, the Tree is the OAK. ~ Illuminations by Carol

Seasons of the Witch – Legends and Lore, Ancient Holidays
And Some Not So Ancient!

Today Is …

Nova Scotia Lobster Festival. Enjoy seafood for dinner or visit an aquarium. Thank Yemaya for Her gifts.

Panathenaea: In ancient Greece, a six-day festival called the Panathenaea began on this day every four years. It was held in honor of the Goddess Athena.

On this day, Pagans around the world celebrate the divine birthdays of the wine- and fertility-god Dionysus and the Greek goddess Rhea.

On this date in the year 1992, Herman Slater (Wiccan High Priest, well-known occult author, and proprietor of the Magickal Childe bookstore and Witchcraft supply shop in New York City) lost his battle against AIDS. His death was a great loss to the magickal community.

July 3-August 15. This was recognized by the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Arabians and Polynesians. The Dog Days of Summer takes it’s name from the rising of the Dog Star, Sirius. The ancient words which we translate as “the Dog Star” could also be interpreted as “the little bitch bringing heat.” This is the hottest period in the Northern hemisphere of Earth.

The first season is of a frigid complexion, and this is “Winter”;

Then follows the third, which is “Summer”, and is of the complexion of Fire;

Goddess For Today: Habonde
Bodmin Riding (Wales)

Themes ~  Abundance; Joy; Health; Fertility; Luck; Magic; Cleansing
Symbols ~  Ale; Fires

About Habonde~  In Celtic tradition, Habonde is a witchy Goddess who represents abundance: an abundance of joy, health, fertility, and luck.  Customarily, people honored her by dancing around magical ritual fires whose smoke was said to purify both body and soul.

To Do Today~  On the first Monday in July, people in Wales prepare for a lunch of ale brewed eight months ago.  This is taken joyfully around town and shared to bring joy, prosperity, and longevity to everyone, courtesy of the Goddess and the local brewers’ guild.  If you’re a home brewer, this is an excellent day to make ritual beer or wine, both of which have to boil on the hearth, a symbol of Habonde.  As you work, stir clockwise to draw positive energy your way.  When your schedule’s too hectic for this, pour yourself a small glass of beer (you can use the nonalcoholic kind), and lift it to the sky, saying,

“Habonde, bring abundance.  Habonde, health and luck bring.
When through my lips this liquid passes, let my soul sing!”

Drink expectantly.

Lighting any fire source honors Habonde and draws her attention to areas where you feel her energies are needed.

Healing Arts and Pagan Studies ~ Lucky Money Spell
To encourage the flow of money in your direction, take a dollar coin, and bless it by the four elements, by saying: “I bless this coin by the power of air (and fire, water, and earth, in that order).” Hold the coin to each of the four directions as you say this. Then put the coin where it will be in direct sunlight for a day. Carry the coin in your pocket every day. When it feels right, spend the coin on something magical or otherwise special to you. It’s a good idea to let the magic circulate. Then put the charm on another dollar coin.

Healing Arts and Pagan Studies ~ Sweet Dreams

For sweet dreams scent a handkerchief or tissue with Lavender and Marjoram ( 1 drop of each)
and place inside your pillowcase. This combination works better than just lavender alone.
You may also use a blend of your choice.

Healing Arts and Pagan Studies ~ Herbs as House Plants

Instead of simple ivy and ferns, why not try keeping useful herb plants on your window sill? Many garden plants can be transplanted indoors for the winter, so you can enjoy them year-round. I bring in my rosemary and lavender for their scent. Chives and parsley can also live indoors, enabling anyone to have freshly picked green herbs year round. Thyme does well if it’s in a large enough pot with plenty of Sun. Basil and marjoram grow quickly from seed in a pot on a window sill. If you find garlic starting to sprout, you can plant it, root down, and grow more garlic indoors. Most of these plants have magical or healing properties.

“The Goddess Companion”
Hey! She has a light step, don’t she?
Hey! She has some fine clothes!
Hey! She dances down richness!
Look at those bracelets shake!
Her bracelets like water!
Water, like the bracelets of Oshun.
Dance when she shake those bracelets,
dance and call Oshun. She can do
what the doctor can’t. She can heal
with just cold water. Call Oshun.
All her answers are wise ones.
Call Oshun. She always say:
Live, my children, live without fear.
~ African Chant To The Goddess Of Love

There is only one way we can completely heal the injuries life brings us, and that is to live and love without fear. To live is to endure pain, whether physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual. But we can choose how we react to that pain. If we clench ourselves in fear of more pain, we live cramped and unsatisfying lives – and we will not prevent ourselves from being hurt. If we open ourselves to life, we will still feel pain, but we will feel joy and pleasure as well.

We have, each of us, deep fears within us that prevent us from totally grasping life and its many joys. Discovering and healing those painful areas is the work of a lifetime. But without doing that work, we will never truly live.

About The Morning Feast and – The teachings here are based on ordinary magick, the principle that the mundane and the Divine are not separate, but peacefully coexist in all things. Know Mother Earth as the ultimate healer, and learn to utilize her gifts of nature. Inside each woman is a being of wisdom, deeply connected to the phases of the moon and the tides of the sea. All we need to do is trust our innate wisdom.
