Seasons of the Witch – Ancient Holidays
March 28
Ragnar Lodbrok Day – Ragnar was one of legend’s most famous Vikings. On this date in the year 845, he raided Paris. It just happened to be Easter Sunday – which as a pagan Viking, he did not pay too much attention to the Christian holidays. Toast Ragnar with a raised glass, and read from his saga.

Eka Dasa Rudra (an eleven-week-long Balinese festival consisting of thirty ceremonies) is held on this date approximately once every one hundred years to restore the balance between the forces of good and evil. The festival, which is ancient in origin, reaches a climax when thousands of pilgrims gather at the volcano temple to observe animal sacrifices made to appease the God Rudra. In Taiwan, the birthday of the Goddess Kwan Yin is celebrated annually on this date.

The Seasons, 2013
Goddess Month of Columbina begins 3/20 – 4/17

15: Celtic Tree Month of Willow begins

22: Earth Day
23: Wiccan Pentacle is officially added to the list of VA-approved emblems for gravestones, 2007
25: Full Moon — Wind Moon at 3:57 pm
30: Walpurgisnacht celebrated by German witches
NOTE: Because of the large number of ancient calendars, many in simultaneous use, as well as different ways of computing holy days (marked by the annual inundation, the solar year, the lunar month, the rising of key stars, and other celestial and terrestrial events), you may find these holy days celebrated a few days earlier or later at your local temple.
Remember the ancient ways and keep them sacred!

Great Goddess, thank you for helping me learn from the infinite well of wisdom that has always been present with me.

Make A Dammit Doll!

Dammit dolls are great and the best part is that you can shrink the size and make poppets. They also help get rid of scraps of materials.

What you need:

Scraps of Material
Stuffing–polyester or cotton
Old buttons for eyes and belly button
Yarn for hair
Paper to make a pattern

Make a pattern by folding the paper in half and cutting out a shape of
somewhat like a ginger bread man. I copied the shape from a small
cookie cutter that I had. It was easier to draw the shape first and then
cut it out. I found a nice fat shape looks better than a thin one.

After you have your pattern, use it to cut out two identical shapes. If
you like, use pinking shears to make a ragged edge. On one side, sew on
buttons for eyes and belly button. Using some yarn, attach the hair at
the top. I added a mouth to mine by using a cross-stitch pattern that my sewing
machine does.

Now, put wrong sides together and stitch around the edge, leaving an
opening to add the stuffing. Add stuffing,(don’t over stuff it) and
finish sewing up the opening.

Write the following poem on a piece of paper and attach it around his neck:

Whenever things don’t go so well…
And you want to hit the wall and yell…
Here’s a little dammit doll
That you can’t do without.
Just grasp it firmly by the legs
And find a place to slam it
And as you whack the stuffing out

Problems are opportunities in disguise. If you did not face problems you would just drift through life, and you would not gain inner growth.~ Peace Pilgrim

Change of Luck Spell
To change your luck, if you feel you must, turn your clothing inside out or backward. This is an old gambler’s trick to change a losing streak, but it will also work if you are just having a bad day, as so many of us do on occasion. If, on the other hand, you find you already have a piece of clothing on inside out or backward, don’t change it unless things are going badly for you. A less obvious alternative, if it is too conspicuous to reverse your clothing, would be to take the contents of your right pocket and put them in your left pocket, and put the contents of your left pocket in your right pocket. Or, if you wear earrings, put your left earring in your right ear, and your right earring in your left ear. And so on and so forth; the possibilities are nearly endless.

“Liberty cannot be caged into a charter and handed on ready-made to the next generation. Each generation must recreate liberty for its own times. Whether or not we establish freedom rests with ourselves.” ~ Florence Ellinwood Allen

Maiden Goddess, holy one,
protector of hills and forest,
protector of mothers in labor,
protector of the buds of infancy,
triple Goddess, I invoke you.
bless the trees around my home,
the ones that shade me,
the ones that screen the wind,
the ones that perfume the air.
May they protect me as you do.
How will I thank you?
When I eat flesh, I will thank you.
When I eat fruit, I will thank you.
When I drink clear water, I will thank you.
Your trees will never lack for offerings
as long as I live and breathe,
Maiden Goddess
triple one
my protector
as long as I live and breathe.
The earth does not owe us her protection. Ancient people knew this. They knew that, however motherly she may be, the goddess does not provide for children who are ungrateful or disdainful of her gifts. Thus most ancient cultures had rituals of thanksgiving, in which the Goddess is thanked for the protection she generously affords us. What such ritual will we each perform today?
By Patricia Monaghan ~ From “The Goddess Companion” and GrannyMoon’s Morning Feast

Queen and Huntress, chaste and fair,
Now the sun is laid to sleep,
Seated in thy silver chair
State in wonted manner keep
Hesperus entreats thy light,
Goddess excellently bright.
– Ben Jonson, “Hymn to Diana.”

About The Morning Feast and – The teachings here are based on ordinary magick, the principle that the mundane and the Divine are not separate, but peacefully coexist in all things. Know Mother Earth as the ultimate healer, and learn to utilize her gifts of nature. Inside each woman is a being of wisdom, deeply connected to the phases of the moon and the tides of the sea. All we need to do is trust our innate wisdom.
